Translating and the fidelity report

How your approved text is translated and checked, what the measured fidelity score does and does not mean, how to clear items, and how to approve and download.

Last updated October 1, 2026

What is this?

After you approve your source text, choose Start the translation. It runs section by section. Long documents take several minutes, you can leave and come back, and a pause in the middle does not lose finished sections.

How it works

For each section:

  1. It is translated into your language and locale, following the approved vocabulary we hold for that language where there is some, and the guidance for your readers.
  2. It is translated back into English by a separate request that has never seen your original. This matters: if the back-translation reads differently from your text, something may have changed in between.
  3. Your text and the back-translation are compared.

Each section must come back with exactly the same paragraphs as it was sent, so headings, lists and quotations stay in place. If it does not, that section is not used and you are told.

The measured fidelity score

The report shows a score and a target of 98%. It measures how well these were kept:

What is checkedWeight
Your meaning, claim by claim35%
Scripture references20%
Doctrine your text teaches20%
Numbers, names and commands10%
Approved vocabulary for the language10%
Tone5%

Two things matter more than the number:

  • One critical problem blocks approval, whatever the score. Critical means a changed Scripture reference, a lost doctrine, a changed number, a statement or command that was reversed, or a rejected word for a key doctrine.
  • A check that could not run counts against the score. It is never treated as a pass. A check with nothing to check, such as a document with no numbers, is simply left out.

It is a measurement, not a guarantee. Bilingual reviewers have not yet compared it with their own judgment, and the translation is checked by comparing English texts, not by a person reading the target language. Have a bilingual reader who knows your audience review the result.

Items to look at

Anything we cannot clear ourselves appears as an item, labelled Critical, must be cleared or For review. Each shows your text and what the translation says, in English. For each you can:

  • Accept, only for items that are for review. A critical item cannot be accepted as it is.
  • Edit the translation. Pick the paragraph, change it, and we check that section again.
  • Translate this section again, with an optional note. A note can never change the meaning or the doctrine.

A critical item clears when the new check finds the problem gone, not when someone says it is fine. Something you accepted stays accepted when a section is checked again. If a section could not be translated at all, you will see why and can try it again.

Approve and download

When nothing is blocking, choose Approve this translation. If items are still open for review, or the score is under the target, we ask you to confirm first.

Approving makes two files, as Word or Markdown depending on your choice:

  • Your translation, rebuilt in the same structure as your source: headings, lists, quotations and paragraphs. Right-to-left languages are set right to left.
  • A report with the score, what was found, what you decided, what is still open, and what the translation cannot promise.

Choose Get download links. They stop working after a few minutes, so reload the page for new ones if needed.

An approved translation is read-only. Reopen to make changes if you need to, which removes the exported files so nothing out of date is left behind.
