Imputed Righteousness

Credited/attributed righteousness from God, NOT righteousness achieved through one’s own effort (अर्जिता, ‘earned,’ is explicitly rejected). आरोपित is itself a real Nyāya-epistemology term for a superimposed/attributed property (cf. adhyāsa, superimposition, a key Advaita concept for how illusory qualities are ‘imposed’ on reality) — here repurposed positively: righteousness genuinely credited by God’s declaration, not illusory, but not self-generated either.
