Prophet
ऋषिः is rejected for a precise reason: a Vedic ṛṣi is credited with directly perceiving (√dṛś, hence mantra-draṣṭā, ‘seer of the mantra’) the eternal, uncreated (apauruṣeya) Veda, not with receiving a historically situated message from a personal God at a point in time. भविष्यद्वक्ता (‘one who speaks what is to come’) keeps the historically-situated, personally-addressed sense biblical prophecy requires.
