Justification

निर्णयः is deliberately borrowed from Mīmāṃsā/Nyāya argumentative method, where it names the definitively ascertained conclusion (siddhānta) reached after stating an objection (pūrvapakṣa) and refuting it (uttarapakṣa) — i.e. a formal, reasoned, authoritative declaration, not a private feeling. This gives ‘justification’ genuine forensic weight in Sanskrit’s own intellectual idiom: God’s definitive declaration that the believer is righteous, reached through Christ’s atoning work, not the believer’s own argument or merit.
