Established Assamese Christian term for an authorized, sent messenger. গুৰু (guru) must be avoided — Sankardev’s Ekasarana tradition centers on an unbroken guru-lineage (Satradhikar succession) at the head of each Satra, and ‘apostle’ rendered as guru would collapse apostolic authority into that institutional guru-role.
