Historically, Christianity in China was labeled 洋教 (yángjiào, ‘foreign/Western religion’), a term carrying colonial-era and anti-imperialist connotations from the 19th-20th centuries. 宣教 is the standard modern Chinese Christian term; avoid framing that reinforces the ‘foreign import’ stigma.
