Father

God as personal, caring Father (Abba). Distinguish carefully from ancestor veneration (祭祖, jìzǔ): venerated ancestors are cared for and appeased by their living descendants through ritual offerings, an inverted direction of care from the biblical Father who cares for his children. NEVER use 祖先 (ancestors) or 老天爷 (colloquial impersonal Heaven) for God the Father.
