Shafeeco names the specifically Sufi practice of seeking a saintly figure’s mediated favor with God; a significant and vocal Salafi-influenced current within contemporary Somali Islam itself rejects this practice as shirk, so this is genuinely contested ground, not settled Somali consensus — Christ’s unique intercession must be taught on its own terms rather than assumed to map onto either side of that internal debate.
