Core Glossary
Core Glossary: Revelation
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, organized by theological category, citing the chapter(s) of first/primary occurrence. Terms marked [BASELINE REUSE] carry forward the exact rendering recorded in the Romans/Galatians translation_memory.json; these renderings are non-negotiable per the pipeline’s hard rules. Terms marked [NEW] are proposed additions to translation memory for this curriculum, pending theologian sign-off per the escalation rules in 12_ai_translation_requirements.md.
Risk tiers follow the baseline’s exact definitions (Critical/High/Medium/Low; see baseline doctrine_risk_registry.json). All Critical and High terms below require the same review routing already established: Critical → mandatory human theologian review of every occurrence; High → mandatory human theologian review; Medium → native speaker review; Low → automated review sufficient.

- Terms flagged for geopolitical/pastoral sensitivity independent of Islamic-theological collision: Temple/ہیکل (Jerusalem sensitivity, ch. 11, 21), synagogue of Satan (ch. 2-3, antisemitism-avoidance), the prostitute/Babylon (ch. 17, avoid misogynistic or ethnic-community misapplication).

Critical Risk Terms
Righteousness
Approved rendering: راستبازی
Transliteration: rāstbāzī
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: نیکی, تقویٰ
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly.
Salvation
Approved rendering: نجات
Transliteration: najāt
Doctrine: Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil; Salvation
Rejected alternatives: مکتی
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans/Galatias baseline package, reused exactly. Deliverance secured entirely through the Lamb’s blood and vindicated at his return (7:10; 12:10; 19:1). Every doctrinally load-bearing use requires the mercy-weighed-against-deeds versus Christ’s-substitutionary-atonement contrast to be made explicit.
Resurrection Of Christ General
Approved rendering: قیامت
Transliteration: qiyāmat
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ and of the Dead (Two-Stage Resurrection)
Rejected alternatives: پنر جنم
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly (baseline key: resurrection). Revelation extends the baseline caution significantly: chapter 20 introduces resurrection occurring in two distinct stages, not a single unified Day; see first_resurrection below for the new, structurally distinct risk this creates against the single-Day qiyamat framework.
Lord
Approved rendering: خداوند
Transliteration: k͟hudāvand
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ; The Return and Reign of Christ
Rejected alternatives: مالک, آقا
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Climactically invoked in the book’s closing prayer (22:20, ‘Come, Lord Jesus’); see come_lord_jesus below.
Son Of God
Approved rendering: خدا کا بیٹا
Transliteration: k͟hudā kā beṭā
Doctrine: Sonship of Christ Distinguished from Believers’ Adoptive Sonship
Rejected alternatives: ابن اللہ
Original: υἱὸς θεοῦ
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Presupposed throughout Revelation’s Father/Son language and Christ’s shared throne with God; explicit title at 2:18. Must always carry or reference the eternal-not-begotten annotation, and must be explicitly distinguished from Revelation 21:7’s universalized, adoptive ‘son’ language applied to every overcomer (see son_of_god_adoptive entry below) — conflating the two would compound rather than resolve the baseline’s Critical Qur’an 112:3/4:171 collision.
Incarnation
Approved rendering: مجسم ہونا
Transliteration: mujassam honā
Doctrine: New Heaven and New Earth; Incarnation
Rejected alternatives: اوتار
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Directly extended in Revelation 21:3 (see god_dwelling_with_humanity below), which intensifies the Incarnation claim into a permanent eschatological claim of God’s unmediated dwelling with humanity.
Messiah
Approved rendering: مسیح
Transliteration: masīḥ
Doctrine: Messianic Promise; Deity and Eternal Identity of Christ
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package (baseline key: messiah), reused exactly. Used in the co-reign formula ‘the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ/Messiah’ (11:15).
Cross Crucifixion
Approved rendering: صلیب / مصلوب
Transliteration: ṣalīb / maṣlūb
Doctrine: The Crucifixion and Atoning Death of the Lamb
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package (Galatians), reused exactly. Underlies the Lamb’s entire worthiness in Revelation 5 (see lamb below); presupposes a historical crucifixion Qur’an 4:157 explicitly denies. Never allegorize away the historical event.
Jesus
Approved rendering: یسوع
Transliteration: Yasū’
Doctrine: Deity and Eternal Identity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: عیسیٰ
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly (یسوع مسیح at first occurrence in each document). Never bare عیسیٰ, which signals the Qur’anic prophet-figure rather than the New Testament’s full portrait of the crucified, risen, reigning Christ central to Revelation’s whole message.
God
Approved rendering: خدا
Transliteration: k͟hudā
Doctrine: The Sovereignty of God over History
Rejected alternatives: اللہ
Original: θεός
Category: God
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly, per the Khuda-tradition choice.
Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: روح القدس
Transliteration: rūḥ al-qudus
Doctrine: The Holy Spirit’s Divine Personhood in Revelation
Original: τὸ πνεῦμα (τὸ ἅγιον) / τὰ ἑπτὰ πνεύματα
Category: God
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Revelation’s ‘seven spirits before the throne’ (1:4; 4:5; 5:6) must be taught as a symbolic depiction of the ONE Spirit’s fullness, not seven separate created angelic beings — an additional, book-specific numerical-confusion risk compounding the baseline’s روح القدس/Ruh al-Qudus Critical collision with mainstream tafsir identifying the phrase with the angel Jibreel.
Lamb
Approved rendering: برّہ
Transliteration: barrah
Doctrine: Worship of the Lamb; The Crucifixion and Atoning Death of the Lamb
Original: ἀρνίον
Category: Christology
NEW for Revelation. Established Urdu Christian Bible term (John 1:29 tradition); Revelation’s dominant Christological title (~28 occurrences). Worthiness rests explicitly on having been slain and having purchased people by his blood (5:6, 9, 12) — a direct claim of a real, historical, atoning crucifixion Qur’an 4:157 denies occurred. Mandatory human theologian review for every doctrinally load-bearing occurrence and every occurrence where the Lamb is worshiped.
Firstborn Of The Dead
Approved rendering: مُردوں میں سے پہلوٹھا
Transliteration: murdoṅ meñ se pahlauṭhā
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ and of the Dead (Two-Stage Resurrection)
Original: πρωτότοκος τῶν νεκρῶν
Category: Christology
NEW for Revelation (1:5). Directly extends the baseline’s Critical Resurrection-of-Christ entry; presupposes the crucifixion Qur’an 4:157 denies occurred at all. Mandatory theologian review every occurrence.
Alpha And Omega
Approved rendering: الف اور اومیگا؛ اول اور آخر
Transliteration: alif aur omega; awwal aur ākhir
Doctrine: Deity and Eternal Identity of Christ
Original: Ἄλφα καὶ τὸ Ὦ / ἀρχὴ καὶ τὸ τέλος
Category: Christology
NEW for Revelation (1:8; 21:6; 22:13). اول اور آخر is precisely the Qur’anic divine name-pair al-Awwal wa’l-Akhir (Qur’an 57:3), used exclusively of Allah. Applying it to Jesus at 22:13 is a direct, structurally identical collision to the baseline’s Son-of-God/Deity-of-Christ Critical entries. Mandatory human theologian review every occurrence; never present as incidental literary flourish.
Word Of God Title
Approved rendering: خدا کا کلام
Transliteration: khudā kā kalām
Doctrine: Deity and Eternal Identity of Christ
Original: ὁ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ
Category: Christology
NEW for Revelation (19:13). خدا کا کلام (Kalam Allah) is the specific classical Islamic theological term for the Qur’an itself as Allah’s own eternal speech, central to the historic Mu’tazila/Ash’ari created-vs-uncreated debate. Using this same phrase as a personal title for a riding, judging, worshiped person is a direct, structurally identical shared-phrase problem to the baseline’s روح القدس entry: no alternative Urdu wording escapes the collision. Mandatory theologian review; must never appear without a clarifying note distinguishing this title’s referent (the eternal, personal, incarnate Son) from the Qur’an’s own self-designation.
King Of Kings Lord Of Lords
Approved rendering: بادشاہوں کا بادشاہ اور خداوندوں کا خداوند
Transliteration: bādshāhoṅ kā bādshāh aur khudāwandoṅ kā khudāwand
Doctrine: The Return and Reign of Christ; Lordship of Christ
Original: βασιλεὺς βασιλέων καὶ κύριος κυρίων
Category: Christology
NEW for Revelation (17:14; 19:16). Structurally parallel to the Qur’anic devotional title Malik al-Muluk (‘King of all Sovereignty,’ Qur’an 3:26), an attribute of Allah alone. A direct extension of the baseline’s Lordship-of-Christ Critical entry; must never be softened, though always taught with explicit awareness of the collision it creates. Mandatory theologian review every occurrence; keep 17:14 and 19:16 renderings verbatim-consistent.
Worship Proskyneo
Approved rendering: سجدہ کرنا / پرستش کرنا
Transliteration: sajdah karnā / parastish karnā
Doctrine: Worship of the Lamb
Rejected alternatives: عزت دینا (honor/respect — dangerously softens true worship)
Original: προσκυνέω
Category: Worship
NEW for Revelation (4:10; 5:8-14; 7:11; 13:4, 8, 12, 15; 14:7; 19:4, 10; 22:8-9). سجدہ is the exact technical term for the ritual prostration reserved for Allah alone in Islamic salat; sajdah toward any other than Allah is a paradigm case of shirk. Worship of the Lamb equally with God is therefore a direct, maximal collision with tawhid at the level of cultic practice, not merely belief. Mandatory theologian review every occurrence, including the internal contrast where worship of an angel is explicitly forbidden (19:10; 22:8-9) while worship of the Lamb is explicitly commanded/modeled — teach the two passages as a single unit.
Book Of Life
Approved rendering: کتابِ حیات
Transliteration: kitāb-e-ḥayāt
Doctrine: Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
Original: τὸ βιβλίον τῆς ζωῆς
Category: Salvation
NEW for Revelation (3:5; 13:8; 17:8; 20:12, 15; 21:27). Sits extremely close to the Islamic mizan (scales of deeds) and kitab (individual deeds-record, Qur’an 17:13-14; 18:49) framework. The essential distinction that must be taught every time: the deeds-books establish the basis for condemnation, but inclusion in this SEPARATE Book of Life, secured through the Lamb’s blood by grace and not by works, finally determines destiny.
First Resurrection
Approved rendering: پہلی قیامت
Transliteration: pahlī qiyāmat
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ and of the Dead (Two-Stage Resurrection)
Rejected alternatives: bare قیامت used alone for this concept (obscures the two-stage structure)
Original: ἡ ἀνάστασις ἡ πρώτη
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (20:4-6, 12-13). Significant extension of the baseline’s قیامت caution: Islamic eschatology holds qiyamat to be a SINGLE, unified Day of Resurrection for all humanity at once, not a two-stage event. Prefer the periphrastic مُردوں میں سے پہلے جی اُٹھنا (‘rising from among the dead, first’) at first explanatory occurrence, reserving پہلی قیامت as a secondary gloss. Mandatory theologian review; must be taught with explicit, careful comparison to the single-Day qiyamat framework, never silently assumed compatible.
Gog And Magog
Approved rendering: جوج اور ماجوج
Transliteration: jūj aur mājūj
Doctrine: Gog and Magog’s Final Rebellion; Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil
Rejected alternatives: a paraphrase such as ‘northern invading nations’ (would erase the named overlap that must be surfaced and taught)
Original: Γὼγ καὶ Μαγώγ
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (20:7-8). Direct, explicitly named eschatological overlap with the Qur’an’s essentially identical pair, Yajuj wa Majuj (Qur’an 18:94; 21:96). Sequence, agency, and outcome differ substantially and must be taught explicitly, never harmonized. Mandatory theologian review, comparable in kind to the baseline’s Hagar/Ishmael treatment. Transliterated into the already-recognized Urdu Qur’anic form deliberately, to surface rather than hide the overlap.
Testimony Noun
Approved rendering: گواہی
Transliteration: gawāhī
Doctrine: Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution
Original: μαρτυρία
Category: Perseverance
NEW for Revelation (1:2, 9; 6:9; 11:7; 12:11, 17; 17:6; 19:10; 20:4). Safe, standard, established Urdu Christian Bible word; check context for death-for-testimony risk requiring the witness_martyr entry’s cautions.
To Testify
Approved rendering: گواہی دینا
Transliteration: gawāhī denā
Doctrine: Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution
Original: μαρτυρέω
Category: Perseverance
NEW for Revelation (1:2; 22:16, 18, 20). Same status as testimony_noun; low risk standing alone, escalates in death-for-testimony contexts.
Witness Martyr
Approved rendering: گواہ (contextually شہید, flagged)
Transliteration: gawāh (contextually shahīd, flagged)
Doctrine: Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution; The Two Witnesses and Prophetic Testimony
Rejected alternatives: bare شہید as the default rendering — imports the specific Islamic combat/jihad-death mechanism guaranteeing immediate, unjudged Paradise entry, fundamentally different from Revelation’s pattern of patient, non-violent endurance vindicated by God (13:10)
Original: μάρτυς
Category: Perseverance
NEW for Revelation (2:13; 11:3; 17:6). Default to گواہ + periphrasis (جو یسوع کی گواہی کے سبب مارے گئے, ‘those killed on account of testimony to Jesus’) where death-for-testimony is specifically in view. شہید may be theologian-approved context-by-context with an attached clarifying note distinguishing combat-death-reward theology from Revelation’s non-violent-endurance pattern. Mandatory human theologian review for every occurrence where death-for-faith is in view.
Souls Of The Slain
Approved rendering: ذبح کیے گئے لوگوں کی روحیں
Transliteration: żabḥ kiye ga’e logoṅ kī rūheñ
Doctrine: Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
Original: αἱ ψυχαὶ τῶν ἐσφαγμένων
Category: Perseverance
NEW for Revelation (6:9-11). Their cry ‘how long?’ (v.10) must be taught as a cry for God’s own vindicating justice at the proper time, never personal vengeance-seeking or a summons to retaliatory action — a pastoral caution with real stakes given lived persecution among Urdu-speaking Christian communities.
Two Witnesses
Approved rendering: دو گواہ
Transliteration: do gawāh
Doctrine: The Two Witnesses and Prophetic Testimony
Original: οἱ δύο μάρτυρες
Category: Perseverance
NEW for Revelation (11:3-12). The witness-death-resurrection pattern directly prefigures the pattern promised to all faithful believers; the شہید/jihad-collision is at its most acute here since these figures die through non-violent testimony and are vindicated by God’s own resurrecting action, never armed resistance.
Beast
Approved rendering: حیوان
Transliteration: ḥaiwān
Doctrine: False Worship and the Beast’s Counterfeit System
Rejected alternatives: دجال / الدجال (never transliterate or name directly — would import a differently-structured Islamic figure by name rather than keeping the comparison at the level of taught analogy)
Original: τὸ θηρίον
Category: Adversarial Figures
NEW for Revelation (11:7; 13:1-18; 14:9-11; 16:2, 10, 13; 17:3-17; 19:19-20; 20:10). Urdu-speaking readers are likely to map this figure onto al-Masih al-Dajjal, a genuinely comparable ‘great deceiver’ category in Islamic eschatology; pastorally useful for basic recognition but imprecise in detail (distinct features, distinct defeat-mechanism) and must never be presented as a one-to-one identification. Mandatory theologian review.
Come Lord Jesus
Approved rendering: آ، اے خداوند یسوع!
Transliteration: ā, ai Khudāwand Yasūʿ!
Doctrine: The Return and Reign of Christ; Lordship of Christ
Original: Ἔρχου, κύριε Ἰησοῦ
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (22:20). Reuses خداوند exactly, combined with direct personal address/invocation-in-prayer — structurally continuous with the baseline’s treatment of Romans 10:9’s ‘Jesus is Lord’ confession. Must be rendered without qualification or softening, consistent with the baseline’s rule.
Son Of God Adoptive
Approved rendering: خدا… بیٹا
Transliteration: khudā… beṭā
Doctrine: Sonship of Christ Distinguished from Believers’ Adoptive Sonship
NEW for Revelation (21:7, core passage). Universalizes filial language to every overcomer (‘I will be his God and he will be my son’), using the same root as خدا کا بیٹا. Must be sharply distinguished, in the same breath, from Christ’s unique, eternal, co-equal Sonship (see son_of_god above); conflating the two would compound rather than resolve the baseline’s Critical Qur’an 112:3/4:171 collision.
Second Coming Parousia
Approved rendering: یسوع مسیح کی دوبارہ آمد
Transliteration: Yasūʿ Masīḥ kī dobārah āmad
Doctrine: The Return and Reign of Christ
Rejected alternatives: bare آنا / آمد (too generic, loses parousia’s technical weight)
NEW for Revelation. No single lexicalized Urdu equivalent to ‘parousia’ distinct from a generic ‘coming’ exists; standardize this fixed compound for every occurrence of parousia-adjacent language throughout Revelation teaching material.
High Risk Terms
Gospel
Approved rendering: خوش خبری
Transliteration: khush khabrī
Doctrine: Gospel
Rejected alternatives: انجیل شریف کی تعلیم
Original: εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. In Revelation the gospel receives urgent, final, universal scope as the ‘eternal gospel’ proclaimed by an angel to all nations (14:6); do not let خوش خبری collapse into a generic religious announcement distinct from a call to worship the Creator specifically.
Grace
Approved rendering: فضل
Transliteration: faz̤l
Doctrine: Grace and the Free Gift of Salvation
Rejected alternatives: رحمت, احسان, کرم
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Revelation’s own closing word (22:21); must not collapse into a reward-for-merit framing at the book’s climactic close; teach alongside مُفت/freely_dorean with the deeds-weighed-at-judgment framework explicitly distinguished.
Faith
Approved rendering: ایمان
Transliteration: īmān
Doctrine: Faith
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Every occurrence must make the object of faith explicit (trust in Christ specifically). Note the negated form بے ایمان used in the 21:8 vice-list (see unbelieving_vice entry below) requires special anchoring given its colloquial ‘dishonest/treacherous’ sense in everyday Urdu.
Holy
Approved rendering: پاک
Transliteration: pāk
Doctrine: Holiness and Purity of God’s People
Rejected alternatives: طاہر
Original: ἅγιος
Category: Sanctification
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Applied corporately to the Holy City itself (21:2, 10; 22:19) and in the tripled trisagion (4:8, see trisagion entry).
Saints
Approved rendering: مقدس لوگ
Transliteration: muqaddas log
Doctrine: Holiness and Purity of God’s People
Rejected alternatives: ولی
Original: οἱ ἅγιοι
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Extended in Revelation to those martyred for their testimony (5:8; 8:3-4; 11:18; 13:7, 10; 14:12; 16:6; 17:6; 18:24; 19:8; 20:9). Corporate designation for all believers, never an ascetic elite parallel to ولی/Sufi awliya veneration.
Sanctification
Approved rendering: تقدیس
Transliteration: taqdīs
Doctrine: Holiness and Purity of God’s People
Rejected alternatives: پاکیزگی
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly.
Adoption
Approved rendering: لے پالک بنانا
Transliteration: le-pālak banānā
Doctrine: Sonship of Christ Distinguished from Believers’ Adoptive Sonship
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Directly relevant to Revelation 21:7’s universalized filial promise (‘he will be my son’) to every overcomer; must be framed relationally, per baseline’s caution, and sharply distinguished from خدا کا بیٹا, Christ’s unique eternal Sonship (see son_of_god and son_of_god_adoptive entries below).
Glory
Approved rendering: جلال
Transliteration: jalāl
Doctrine: Deity and Eternal Identity of Christ
Original: δόξα
Category: God
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. In Revelation, the light of the New Jerusalem itself (21:11, 23-24); always anchored to God or the Lamb specifically in context.
Covenant
Approved rendering: عہد
Transliteration: ahd
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Rejected alternatives: معاہدہ
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Underlies the Lion of Judah/Root of David (5:5) and Key of David (3:7) Christological titles.
Sin
Approved rendering: گناہ
Transliteration: gunāh
Doctrine: Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Underlies the vice-lists of 21:8 and 22:15 (see vice_lists entry below).
Power Of God
Approved rendering: خدا کی قدرت
Transliteration: k͟hudā kī qudrat
Doctrine: The Sovereignty of God over History
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Genuinely safe shared vocabulary; underlies قادرِ مطلق below.
Promise
Approved rendering: وعدہ
Transliteration: wa’dah
Doctrine: New Heaven and New Earth
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package (Galatians), reused exactly. Underlies the book’s every reward-refrain to overcomers (chs. 2-3; 21:7).
New Creation
Approved rendering: نئی مخلوق
Transliteration: na’ī makhlūq
Doctrine: New Heaven and New Earth
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package (Galatians 6:15), reused exactly. Distinguished from Revelation’s ‘new heaven and new earth’ (see new_heaven_new_earth below): new_creation names the individual believer’s renewed status; new_heaven_new_earth names the cosmos-scale event.
Eternal Life
Approved rendering: ابدی زندگی
Transliteration: abadī zindagī
Doctrine: New Heaven and New Earth
Original: ζωὴ αἰώνιος (implied by ξύλον τῆς ζωῆς, ὕδωρ τῆς ζωῆς)
Category: Eschatology
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package (Galatians), reused exactly. Fully realized in the new creation (21:6; 22:1-2, 17); taught in continuity with نجات, never as a separately earned reward.
Idolatry
Approved rendering: بت پرستی
Transliteration: but-parastī
Doctrine: Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package (Galatians works_of_the_flesh_idolatry entry), reused exactly. Genuine overlap with shirk-condemnation, though definitions differ (Trinity/Incarnation/Sonship classified as shirk in Islamic theology while affirmed here); appears in the vice-lists (21:8; 22:15) and the letters (2:14, 20).
Lion Of Judah Root Of David
Approved rendering: یہوداہ کے قبیلے کا شیرببر / داؤد کی جڑ
Transliteration: Yahūdāh ke qabīle kā sherbabar / dā’ūd kī jaṛ
Doctrine: Messianic Promise; Davidic Covenant
Original: λέων ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Ἰούδα / ῥίζα Δαυίδ
Category: Christology
NEW for Revelation (5:5). Messianic titles extending the baseline’s Messianic Promise and Davidic Covenant entries; the Lion-announced/Lamb-revealed reversal is the interpretive key to the whole book and must be taught explicitly, not smoothed over.
Son Of Man Title
Approved rendering: ابنِ آدم کی مانند
Transliteration: ibn-e-Ādam kī mānind
Doctrine: Deity and Eternal Identity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: بنی نوع انسان کی طرح (flattens to a merely-human reading)
Original: ὅμοιον υἱῷ ἀνθρώπου
Category: Christology
NEW for Revelation (1:13; 14:14). Danielic (Dan 7:13) divine-messianic figure with theophanic glory; ابنِ آدم is common, safe, humanity-affirming Urdu/Islamic vocabulary, and the risk is precisely that it may flatten this title into ‘merely a human being.’ Must always be taught alongside the surrounding blazing-glory description, never standing alone.
Key Of David
Approved rendering: داؤد کی کنجی
Transliteration: dā’ūd kī kunjī
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Original: ἡ κλεὶς Δαυίδ
Category: Covenant
NEW for Revelation (3:7). Extends the baseline Davidic Covenant High entry into Christ’s present, active reign; requires the same OT covenant-background explanation the baseline mandates.
One Seated On Throne
Approved rendering: تخت پر بیٹھنے والا
Transliteration: takht par baiṭhne wālā
Doctrine: The Sovereignty of God over History
Original: ὁ καθήμενος ἐπὶ τῷ θρόνῳ
Category: God
NEW for Revelation (4:2-3, 9-10; 5:1, 7, 13; 21:5). Recurring designation for God the Father specifically; identifies the speaker of 21:5 as sovereign God himself remaking creation.
Throne
Approved rendering: تخت
Transliteration: takht
Doctrine: The Sovereignty of God over History; Worship of the Lamb
Original: θρόνος
Category: God
NEW for Revelation (1:4; 3:21; 4:2-11; 5:1-13; 7:9-17; 20:11; 21:5; 22:1, 3). Genuine bridge word (al-‘Arsh, Qur’an 7:54; 20:5). Escalates to CRITICAL wherever the text places the Lamb on or in the midst of this same throne (5:6; 7:17; 22:1, 3), asserting co-equal divine sovereignty the bridge-word safety does not extend to.
Trisagion
Approved rendering: پاک، پاک، پاک
Transliteration: pāk, pāk, pāk
Doctrine: The Sovereignty of God over History
Original: ἅγιος ἅγιος ἅγιος
Category: Worship
NEW for Revelation (4:8). Baseline پاک reused, tripled, echoing Isaiah 6:3; supreme worship-confession of God’s unique holiness.
New Heaven New Earth
Approved rendering: نیا آسمان اور نئی زمین
Transliteration: na’ā āsmān aur na’ī zamīn
Doctrine: The New Heaven and New Earth
Original: οὐρανὸς καινὸς καὶ γῆ καινή
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (21:1). Genuine bridge to Qur’an 14:48 (‘the earth will be changed to another earth, and the heavens too’). Islamic eschatology pairs this with Jannah as an achieved, deeds-and-mercy-weighed reward of sensory delight; Rev 21 presents new creation as God’s own unmediated dwelling with his people (v.3), received not earned. Teach the parallel honestly, then teach the difference in mechanism and center.
God Dwelling With Humanity
Approved rendering: خدا اُن کے ساتھ سکونت کرے گا
Transliteration: khudā un ke sāth sukūnat karegā
Doctrine: The New Heaven and New Earth; Incarnation
Original: σκηνώσει μετ’ αὐτῶν
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (21:3; cf. 7:15; 21:22). Echoes John 1:14’s tabernacling language. Directly extends the baseline’s Critical Incarnation entry into a permanent eschatological claim; tawhid denies God takes on or shares created, embodied nearness (Qur’an 112). Teach explicitly as continuous with, not separate from, the Incarnation doctrine.
Second Death
Approved rendering: دوسری موت
Transliteration: dūsrī maut
Doctrine: Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
Original: ὁ θάνατος ὁ δεύτερος
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (2:11; 20:6, 14; 21:8). Distinctly Johannine category with no precise NT-canon equivalent and no direct Islamic doctrinal equivalent; requires explanation as a category rather than assumed prior familiarity. Never conflate with ordinary physical death; a true lexical gap requiring an explanatory gloss at first occurrence in every lesson.
Lake Of Fire
Approved rendering: آگ اور گندھک کی جھیل
Transliteration: āg aur gandhak kī jhīl
Doctrine: Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
Rejected alternatives: دوزخ (too generic; erases the works-record versus grace-inscription contrast this doctrine requires)
Original: ἡ λίμνη τοῦ πυρός
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (19:20; 20:10, 14-15; 21:8). Genuine shared eschatological ground with Jahannam (fire, eternal, sensory torment); the mechanism differs and must be explicitly contrasted with the Book of Life’s grace-inscription, not left to appear as simply the same hell by a different name.
Judgment Krisis
Approved rendering: عدالت / فیصلہ
Transliteration: ʿadālat / faiṣlah
Doctrine: Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
Original: ἡ κρίσις
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (14:7; 16:7; 19:2; 20:11-13). Standard judgment vocabulary; risk lies in ensuring the works-recorded-but-grace-determines-destiny distinction (see book_of_life) is not lost, given proximity to the mizan framework.
Vindication Word
Approved rendering: انصاف
Transliteration: inṣāf
Doctrine: Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
NEW for Revelation. Fixed rendering wherever the semantic focus is God’s vindication of the saints specifically (6:9-11; 19:1-2), distinct from عدالت/فیصلہ’s judicial-verdict sense; addresses the linguistic gap identified for ‘vindication’ as distinct from ‘judgment’ or ‘revenge.‘
Freely Dorean
Approved rendering: مُفت / بلا معاوضہ
Transliteration: muft / bilā muʿāwaẕa
Doctrine: Grace and the Free Gift of Salvation
Original: δωρεάν
Category: Salvation
NEW for Revelation (21:6; 22:17). Taught alongside فضل (grace) to keep the unmerited sense unambiguous; the deeds-weighed-at-judgment framework must be explicitly distinguished at every water-of-life invitation.
Bride
Approved rendering: دُلہن
Transliteration: dulhan
Doctrine: The Church as Bride of Christ
Original: ἡ νύμφη
Category: Church
NEW for Revelation (19:7-8; 21:2, 9; 22:17). No exact Islamic devotional parallel; the risk is conceptual displacement into houri-adjacent individual-reward-companion imagery, not textual collision. Must be taught corporately, never individualized or eroticized. Mandatory theologian input recommended given its centrality to the Church-as-Bride-of-Christ doctrine.
Marriage Of Lamb
Approved rendering: برّے کی شادی
Transliteration: barre kī shādī
Doctrine: The Church as Bride of Christ
Original: ὁ γάμος τοῦ ἀρνίου
Category: Church
NEW for Revelation (19:7, 9). Reuses برّہ’s Critical status; teach alongside the bride entry as the climactic, joyful counterpart to the judgment-supper of 19:17-18. Avoid incidental elaboration via South Asian wedding customs (baraat, walima, mehndi), which risks trivializing the covenantal-consummation sense into folk-wedding imagery.
Overcomer
Approved rendering: غالب آنے والا
Transliteration: ghālib āne wālā
Doctrine: Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution
Rejected alternatives: فتح پانے والا / فاتح (conquest/jihad-adjacent resonance, cf. Fath Makkah)
Original: ὁ νικῶν
Category: Perseverance
NEW for Revelation (2:7, 11, 17, 26; 3:5, 12, 21; 21:7). فتح carries strong historical-conquest and jihad-adjacent resonance in Urdu religious-political discourse; غالب (prevailing, attaining mastery through endurance rather than force) better isolates steadfast, non-violent faithfulness unto death. Note also a secondary, non-theological literary-allusion risk: غالب is the pen-name of Mirza Ghalib, Urdu’s most canonical poet — always use the full phrase غالب آنے والا, never bare غالب, in formal written material.
False Prophet
Approved rendering: جھوٹا نبی
Transliteration: jhūṭā nabī
Doctrine: False Worship and the Beast’s Counterfeit System
Original: ὁ ψευδοπροφήτης
Category: Adversarial Figures
NEW for Revelation (16:13; 19:20; 20:10). Reuses baseline نبی root, negated; must not be confused with the baseline’s Low-risk generic ‘prophet’ entry — a specifically counterfeit figure, and the negation itself should be kept unambiguous.
Mark Of The Beast
Approved rendering: نشان
Transliteration: nishān
Doctrine: The Mark and Number of the Beast
Original: τὸ χάραγμα
Category: Adversarial Figures
NEW for Revelation (13:16-17; 14:9, 11; 16:2; 19:20; 20:4). Reuses the baseline’s نشان root (marks_of_jesus) as a deliberate contrast pair with God’s protective seal (ch. 7). Contemporary biometric-ID/tracking conspiracy-theory resonance is a live cultural phenomenon in South Asia; teach as a theological, not a specific-technology, category.
Image Of The Beast
Approved rendering: حیوان کا مجسمہ / تصویر
Transliteration: ḥaiwān kā mujassama / taṣwīr
Doctrine: False Worship and the Beast’s Counterfeit System
Rejected alternatives: مورتی (specifically Hindu-devotional idol-statue term, inappropriate for this audience)
Original: ἡ εἰκὼν τοῦ θηρίου
Category: Adversarial Figures
NEW for Revelation (13:14-15; 14:9, 11; 15:2; 16:2; 19:20; 20:4). تصویر/مجسمہ keep the sense general. مجسمہ shares a root with the baseline’s مجسم ہونا (incarnation) — a useful teaching contrast between the true Incarnation and this false, idolatrous ‘taking of form.‘
Babylon The Great
Approved rendering: بابلِ عظیم / فاحشہ
Transliteration: Bābil-e-ʿaẕīm / fāḥisha
Doctrine: Babylon and the Judgment of Worldly Power
Original: Βαβυλὼν ἡ μεγάλη / ἡ πόρνη
Category: Adversarial Figures
NEW for Revelation (14:8; 16:19; 17:1-18; 18:1-24; 19:2). Must be taught explicitly as symbolic of a corrupt religious-political-economic system, never as a statement about women, a specific ethnicity, or a specific living nation.
Temple Naos
Approved rendering: ہیکل
Transliteration: haikal
Doctrine: The Temple and God’s Manifest Presence
Rejected alternatives: بیت المقدس (the standard Urdu/Arabic name for Jerusalem’s entire holy precinct, closely associated with the Al-Aqsa/Dome of the Rock compound — would wrongly conflate the symbolic ‘temple of God’ with the geopolitically fraught physical site)
Original: ὁ ναός
Category: Church
NEW for Revelation (3:12; 7:15; 11:1-2, 19; 14:15, 17; 15:5-8; 16:1, 17). ہیکل is the established Christian-Urdu word for Solomon’s/Herod’s Temple specifically. Flag for both theological and geopolitical-sensitivity review.
No Temple In City
Approved rendering: اُس میں کوئی ہیکل نظر نہ آئی
Transliteration: us meñ koī haikal naẕar na ā’ī
Doctrine: The New Heaven and New Earth; The Temple and God’s Manifest Presence
Original: ναὸν οὐκ εἶδον ἐν αὐτῇ
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (21:22). Positive, distinctive content — God and the Lamb ARE the city’s temple — frame constructively, not as polemic against any specific existing sacred site.
River Of Water Of Life
Approved rendering: زندگی کے پانی کی ندی
Transliteration: zindagī ke pānī kī nadī
Doctrine: The New Heaven and New Earth
Original: ὁ ποταμὸς ὕδατος ζωῆς
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (22:1-2). Flows from God’s and the Lamb’s shared throne; reinforces the shared-throne caution (see throne entry); teach alongside spring_of_water_of_life as its full, final expansion.
Every Tribe Tongue People Nation
Approved rendering: ہر قبیلے، زبان، قوم اور گروہ سے
Transliteration: har qabīle, zabān, qaum aur groh se
Doctrine: Unity of the Redeemed from Every Tribe, Tongue, People, Nation
Rejected alternatives: اُمّت (Islamic global religious-political community term)
Original: ἐκ πάσης φυλῆς καὶ γλώσσης καὶ λαοῦ καὶ ἔθνους
Category: Unity of the Redeemed
NEW for Revelation (5:9; 7:9; 14:6). Extends the baseline’s Universal-Scope-of-the-Gospel/Unity-of-Jews-and-Gentiles doctrines into their final eschatological fulfillment; prefer قوم/گروہ over اُمّت.
Vice Lists
Approved rendering: جادوگر / بت پرست / قاتل / حرام کار / جھوٹے
Transliteration: jādūgar / but parast / qātil / harām kār / jhūṭe
Doctrine: Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
Rejected alternatives: زانی (specific Islamic hudud-legal category; prefer general حرام کار)
Original: φαρμακοί / εἰδωλολάτραι / φονεῖς / πόρνοι / ψευδεῖς
Category: Judgment and Vindication
NEW for Revelation (21:8; 22:15). جادوگری and بت پرستی roots reused exactly from baseline; بت پرست carries genuine overlap with shirk-condemnation, though definitions of what counts as shirk differ (Trinity/Incarnation/Sonship classified as shirk in Islamic theology while affirmed here).
Unbelieving Vice
Approved rendering: بے ایمان
Transliteration: be-īmān
Doctrine: Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
NEW for Revelation (21:8, core passage). Reuses baseline ایمان root, negated. Colloquial Urdu register risk: بے ایمان commonly reads as ‘dishonest/treacherous’ in ordinary speech before ‘without faith in Christ.’ Requires an explicit anchoring note at 21:8 that this names unbelief in Christ specifically, per the baseline’s object-of-faith rule, not a generic civic/moral-character label.
Sovereignty Over History Phrase
Approved rendering: تاریخ پر خدا کی حکمرانی
Transliteration: tārīkh par khudā kī ḥukmrānī
Doctrine: The Sovereignty of God over History
Rejected alternatives: خدا کی تدبیر used alone for this corporate/historical sense (baseline term is scoped to personal Romans 8:28-style providence, too narrow for Revelation’s scope)
NEW for Revelation. A compound distinct from the baseline’s personal-providence phrase, naming God’s corporate/historical sovereignty over empires, kings, and the entire arc of history (chs. 4-5, 17-18); never substitute تقدیر, engage it directly and respectfully in supporting notes per the baseline’s Providence entry.
Medium Risk Terms
Apostle
Approved rendering: رسول
Transliteration: rasūl

Rejected alternatives: نبی
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. See twelve_apostles below for its Revelation-specific extension (21:14).
Heir Inheritance
Approved rendering: وارث
Transliteration: wāris
Doctrine: New Heaven and New Earth
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package (Galatians), reused exactly. ‘The one who overcomes will inherit these things’ (21:7); inheritance by grace-promise, never merit-earned.
Kingdom Of God
Approved rendering: خدا کی بادشاہی
Transliteration: k͟hudā kī bādshāhī
Doctrine: The Return and Reign of Christ
Original: ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ
Category: Kingdom
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Declared definitively established at the seventh trumpet (11:15, ‘the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ’); the explicit co-attribution to Christ reinforces, rather than dilutes, the Lordship-of-Christ Critical entry. Distinguish from a political caliphate-style (khilafat) kingdom concept.
Gentiles
Approved rendering: غیر قوموں
Transliteration: g͟hair qaumõ
Doctrine: Unity of the Redeemed from Every Tribe, Tongue, People, Nation
Rejected alternatives: کافر

Approved rendering: مکاشفہ
Transliteration: mukāshafah
Doctrine: Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package (Galatians ‘revelation’ entry), reused exactly. Also the book’s own Urdu Bible title (1:1); a sovereign divine act, never a Sufi kashf-style attained mystical state.

Doctrine: Prayer and Intercession of the Saints
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. See incense_prayers_of_saints below.

Doctrine: Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution
Original: τὰ στίγματα τοῦ Ἰησοῦ
Category: Perseverance
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package (Galatians 6:17), reused exactly. Root reused for ‘mark’ terminology elsewhere in Revelation (see mark_of_the_beast below) as a deliberate contrast pair: God’s people bear the marks of Christ’s ownership through suffering, the Beast’s followers bear a counterfeit, coercive mark.
David
Approved rendering: داؤد
Transliteration: dā’ūd
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package, reused exactly. Underlies Root of David and Key of David titles.
Israel
Approved rendering: اسرائیل

One Who Is Coming
Approved rendering: آنے والا
Transliteration: āne wālā

Approved rendering: وفادار اور سچا
Transliteration: wafādār aur sachā
Doctrine: The Sovereignty of God over History; The Return and Reign of Christ
Original: πιστὸς καὶ ἀληθινός
Category: God
NEW for Revelation (19:11; 21:5). Standard theological adjectives; the exclusivity implied (‘these words,’ as opposed to any other claimed revelation) should not be softened.
Almighty Pantokrator
Approved rendering: قادرِ مطلق
Transliteration: qādir-e-muṭlaq
Doctrine: The Sovereignty of God over History
Original: παντοκράτωρ
Category: God
NEW for Revelation (1:8; 4:8; 11:17; 15:3; 16:14; 19:6, 15; 21:22). Genuine safe bridge word, shares root sense with the baseline’s خدا کی قدرت and Qur’anic al-Qadir; low syncretism risk as genuinely shared divine-attribute vocabulary.
Song Of Moses And Lamb
Approved rendering: موسیٰ کا گیت اور برّہ کا گیت
Transliteration: Mūsā kā gīt aur barre kā gīt
Doctrine: Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation
Original: ἡ ᾆσμα Μωϋσέος καὶ ἡ ᾆσμα τοῦ ἀρνίου
Category: Worship

Doctrine: Prayer and Intercession of the Saints
Original: θυμιάματα / αἱ προσευχαὶ τῶν ἁγίων
Category: Worship
NEW for Revelation (5:8; 8:3-4). Incense-burning carries real devotional resonance in South Asian shrine/folk culture; clarify these are the corporate prayers of all believers rising directly to God, not offered through a saint-intercessor.
Living Creatures
Approved rendering: زندہ مخلوقات
Transliteration: zinda maḳhlūqāt
Doctrine: The Sovereignty of God over History
Original: τὰ τέσσαρα ζῷα
Category: Worship
NEW for Revelation (4:6-9; 5:6, 8, 14). Unusual Ezekiel/Isaiah-derived imagery requiring explanation; loose hadith parallel exists but should not be presented as doctrinally equivalent.
Elders 24
Approved rendering: بزرگ
Transliteration: buzurg
Doctrine: Worship of the Lamb
Rejected alternatives: ولی (Sufi saint-veneration category, avoid)
Original: οἱ εἴκοσι τέσσαρες πρεσβύτεροι
Category: Church
NEW for Revelation (4:4, 10; 5:6, 8, 14; 11:16; 19:4). بزرگ is also the standard South Asian term for a venerated Sufi holy figure with shrine devotion and intercessory-veneration associations; clarify explicitly these represent all God’s redeemed people corporately, not an elite intercessory-saint category.
Death
Approved rendering: موت
Transliteration: maut
Doctrine: Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil
Original: θάνατος
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (1:18; 6:8; 20:14; 21:4). Personified enemy/rider, finally destroyed; ensure readers grasp final, permanent abolition tied to the Lamb’s resurrection victory, not merely bereavement comfort.
Millennium
Approved rendering: ہزار سال
Transliteration: hazār sāl
Doctrine: The Millennial Reign and Interpretive Diversity
Original: χίλια ἔτη
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (20:1-6). Primarily an intra-Christian interpretive-diversity risk (amillennial/premillennial/postmillennial readings), not a direct Islamic-doctrinal collision; teach with appropriate humility about genuinely debated details.
New Jerusalem
Approved rendering: نئی یروشلیم
Transliteration: na’ī Yarūshalim
Doctrine: The New Heaven and New Earth; The Church as Bride of Christ
Original: ἡ Ἰερουσαλὴμ καινή
Category: Church
NEW for Revelation (3:12; 21:2, 10). Jerusalem/al-Quds carries acute contemporary geopolitical weight for readers of all backgrounds; frame explicitly as an eschatological, descending, symbolic-and-real city of God’s own making, never a claim about the present earthly city’s political status.
His People
Approved rendering: اُس کی قوم / لوگ
Transliteration: us kī qaum / log
Doctrine: The New Heaven and New Earth
Rejected alternatives: اُمّت (Islamic global religious-political community term)
Original: λαός / λαοί
Category: Church
NEW for Revelation (21:3). Covenant-formula language (Lev 26:12; Jer 31:33) reaching final fulfillment; must not be reframed via ummah-style categories — God’s own covenant people, defined relationally.
Kingdom And Priests
Approved rendering: بادشاہی اور کاہن
Transliteration: bādshāhī aur kāhin
Doctrine: Worship of the Lamb
Original: βασιλεία καὶ ἱερεῖς
Category: Church
NEW for Revelation (1:6; 5:10; 20:6). Royal priesthood constituted through the Lamb’s blood, no separate priestly caste; loose helpful structural parallel to Sunni Islam’s own lack of an ordained clergy, but the content — through the Lamb’s blood specifically — remains distinctively Christian.
Twelve Apostles
Approved rendering: بارہ رسول
Transliteration: bārah rasūl
Doctrine: Unity of the Redeemed from Every Tribe, Tongue, People, Nation
Original: οἱ δώδεκα ἀπόστολοι
Category: Church

Cowardly
Approved rendering: بزدل
Transliteration: buzdil
Doctrine: Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution
Original: δειλός
Category: Perseverance
NEW for Revelation (21:8). Pastoral care needed: must not be preached as condemning ordinary human fear itself, but the settled abandonment of testimony under pressure.
Persecution Word
Approved rendering: ایذا رسانی
Transliteration: iẕā rasānī
Doctrine: Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution
Rejected alternatives: جہاد-adjacent combat vocabulary
NEW for Revelation. Preferred rendering for ‘persecution’ throughout the book; keeps perseverance vocabulary separated from any combat/jihad register.
Dragon
Approved rendering: اژدہا
Transliteration: azhdahā
Doctrine: Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil
Original: ὁ δράκων
Category: Adversarial Figures

Satan
Approved rendering: شیطان
Transliteration: shaiṭān
Doctrine: Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil
Original: ὁ Σατανᾶς
Category: Adversarial Figures
NEW for Revelation (2:9, 13, 24; 3:9; 12:9; 20:2, 7, 10). Genuinely shared vocabulary; this curriculum’s distinctive claim — already judicially defeated by the Lamb’s blood (12:11) and destined for the lake of fire — should be taught explicitly as already-secured finality, not assumed shared.
Devil
Approved rendering: ابلیس
Transliteration: iblīs
Doctrine: Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil
Original: ὁ διάβολος
Category: Adversarial Figures
NEW for Revelation (2:10; 12:9, 12; 20:2, 10). Genuinely shared vocabulary; same framework caution as the satan entry applies.

Approved rendering: طومار / مہر
Transliteration: ṭūmār / muhr
Doctrine: The Sovereignty of God over History
Original: τὸ βιβλίον / ἡ σφραγίς
Category: Symbolic Interpretation
NEW for Revelation (5:1-9; 6:1-12; 8:1; 10:2-10). مہر shares a conceptual root with the Islamic honorific ‘khatam an-nabiyyin’ (seal of the prophets); low collision risk, worth a brief comparative note.
Tree Of Life
Approved rendering: درخت حیات
Transliteration: daraḳht-e-ḥayāt
Doctrine: The New Heaven and New Earth
Original: τὸ ξύλον τῆς ζωῆς
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (2:7; 22:2, 14, 19). Genuine bridge to Jannah’s garden imagery; clarify access is through the finished work of Christ, not a magical fruit or independently achieved paradise-entry.
Spring Of Water Of Life
Approved rendering: زندگی کے پانی کا سرچشمہ
Transliteration: zindagī ke pānī kā sarcheshma
Doctrine: The New Heaven and New Earth; Grace and the Free Gift of Salvation
Original: ἡ πηγὴ τοῦ ὕδατος τῆς ζωῆς
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (21:6). Genuinely evocative shared metaphor (water as life is universal); risk is ensuring ‘freely’ (see freely_dorean) is not lost to a merit-based religious-economy reading.
White Robes
Approved rendering: سفید لباس
Transliteration: safed libās
Doctrine: Holiness and Purity of God’s People; Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
Original: αἱ στολαὶ λευκαί
Category: Judgment and Vindication
NEW for Revelation (6:11; 7:9, 13-14; 19:8, 14). Must be taught as granted through the Lamb’s atoning blood (‘washed their robes,’ 7:14), not self-attained ritual purity (tahara).
Mystery
Approved rendering: راز
Transliteration: rāz
Doctrine: Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation
Original: τὸ μυστήριον
Category: Symbolic Interpretation
NEW for Revelation (1:20; 10:7; 17:5, 7). Genuine bridge to the Islamic concept of al-ghayb (the unseen); distinction — this ‘mystery’ is disclosed by God’s own revelation to his servants, not permanently hidden knowledge reserved to God alone.

Approved rendering: بارہ دروازے / بارہ بنیادیں
Transliteration: bārah darwāze / bārah buniyādeñ

Transliteration: jald / maiñ jald āne wālā hūñ
Doctrine: The Return and Reign of Christ
Original: ταχύ / ἔρχομαι ταχύ
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (1:1; 2:16; 3:11; 22:7, 12, 20). Must be taught pastorally as grounds for confident hope and holy living, never license for date-setting or speculative timeline-calculation; intersects usefully with Qur’an 7:187’s emphasis on the unknowability of the Hour.

Approved rendering: کنوارے
Transliteration: kunwāre
Doctrine: The Church as Bride of Christ
Original: παρθένοι
Category: Church

Detestable Vice
Approved rendering: قابلِ نفرت
Transliteration: qābil-e-nafrat
Doctrine: Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
Rejected alternatives: نجس (ritual-impurity term, parallel to the baseline’s caution on طاہر for ‘holy’)
NEW for Revelation (21:8, core passage). Prefer قابلِ نفرت (morally abhorrent) over نجس to avoid a ritual-purity-law reading of what is a moral-spiritual category.
Low Risk Terms

Medium-High Risk Terms

Approved rendering: لعنت
Transliteration: la’nat
Doctrine: New Heaven and New Earth
Inherited from Romans/Galatians baseline package (Galatians), reused exactly. Excellent cross-book teaching opportunity: connect Galatians 3:13 (Christ becoming the curse) with Revelation 22:3 (‘there will no longer be any curse’) as the beginning and end of a single redemptive arc. Original: ῥάβδος σιδηρᾶ
Category: Eschatology
NEW for Revelation (2:27; 12:5; 19:15). Messianic, Psalm-2-derived authority to rule and judge, shared with overcomers; must be taught as Christ’s own promised eschatological rule, never encouragement to present-day believer militancy.
