Core Glossary

Core Glossary — Hebrews (English → Ndebele)

This glossary extends the baseline Romans Language Package for Ndebele. All terms already present in the baseline translation_memory.json are marked [BASELINE REUSE] and their recorded Ndebele rendering, risk tier, and notes are reused exactly, unchanged. New terms required for the Hebrews curriculum follow the same risk-tier conventions (Critical / High / Medium / Low) established in doctrine_risk_registry.json.

Risk tiers:

  • Critical — mistranslation destroys/alters essential doctrine; human theologian review required for every occurrence.
  • High — significant confusion/syncretism risk; human theologian review required.
  • Medium — reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning; native speaker review recommended.
  • Low — minor imprecision risk; automated review sufficient.

sacrifice of praiseθυσία αἰνέσεωςpraise-offeringumhlatshelo wokudumisaMediumResponse of worship after atonement13Verbal, non-cultic worship, distinguished from the literal sacrificial umhlatshelo above.
bloodαἷμα / haimabloodigaziCriticalOnce-for-All Atoning Sacrifice; Access through Christ’s Blood9,10,11,12,13Must be taught as satisfying God’s justice, not as ancestral blood-debt payment; foundational for nearly every doctrine in the curriculum.
blood of the covenantαἷμα τῆς διαθήκηςcovenant-bloodigazi lesivumelwanoCriticalNew Covenant vs. Old9,10,13Fixed phrase; must render identically at 9:20, 10:29, 13:20 to preserve Hebrews’ intentional intertextual echo of Exodus 24 / the Last Supper.

Cross-Reference Note

This glossary must be read alongside the baseline translation_memory.json and bible_term_registry.json, which remain in force unchanged. Phase 2 segment translation for Hebrews must load both the baseline files and this document’s Section B before beginning any segment work, per the pre-flight checklist established in 12_ai_translation_requirements.md. Section B terms carry the same enforcement priority ordering as baseline terms: Critical terms (umlamuli, umhlatshelo, igazi, inhlawulo yezono, iveli, ukuhlubuka, ukusondela, ukuphelelisa, ukunyathela iNdodana kaNkulunkulu, isono esenziwa ngabomu) require absolute enforcement with no substitution permitted.

Radiance

Approved rendering: ukukhanya kwenkazimulo kaNkulunkulu
Transliteration: ukukhanya kwenkazimulo kaNkulunkulu
Doctrine: Sonship and Deity of Christ
Original: ἀπαύγασμα
Category: Christology
