Core Glossary
Core Glossary — Gospel of John (English → Ndebele)
Purpose and Method
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing theological term identified in analysis/07_semantic_analysis.md across the entire Gospel of John (chapters 1-21), with the core passage (John 3:1-21) as the theological anchor. Per pipeline rules:
- Terms already fixed in the baseline Romans
translation_memory.jsonandbible_term_registry.jsonare marked [TM-REUSE] and reproduced with their exact recorded Ndebele rendering; these are never altered here. - Terms new to the John curriculum are proposed with a doctrine risk tier assigned using the same Critical/High/Medium/Low framework as the baseline
doctrine_risk_registry.json, ready for formal registration into an extended translation memory in Phase 2. - Doctrine categories reference the nine curriculum doctrines: Deity/Pre-existence of Christ (DPC), New Birth and Regeneration (NBR), Eternal Life through Faith (ELF), God’s Love for the World (GLW), Judgment and Belief/Unbelief (JBU), The Seven “I Am” Statements (SIA), Holy Spirit as Counselor (HSC), Christ’s Substitutionary Death and Resurrection (CSD), Unity of the Father and the Son (UFS).
Table A — Terms Reused Exactly from the Baseline Romans Translation Memory
| English term | Ndebele rendering | Transliteration | Doctrine risk (baseline) | John doctrine link(s) | Occurs in John (chapters) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| God | uNkulunkulu | uNkulunkulu | Critical | DPC, GLW, UFS | 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 14, 17, 20 | [TM-REUSE]. Must never read as remote/accessible only via amadlozi; John consistently stresses direct access through Christ. |
| Jesus | uJesu | uJesu | Critical | all | 1-21 | [TM-REUSE]. |
| Lord | iNkosi | iNkosi | Critical | DPC, CSD | 11, 13, 20, 21 | [TM-REUSE]. Collision with earthly “inkosi” (king/chief) recurs sharply at John 19’s “King of the Jews” inscription (see Table B); teach Christ’s lordship as exceeding both. |
| Son of God | iNdodana kaNkulunkulu | iNdodana kaNkulunkulu | Critical | DPC, UFS | 1, 3, 5, 10, 11, 20 | [TM-REUSE]. Distinct from, but closely related to, new term “Son of Man” (Table B) and “only begotten Son” (Table B). |
| Holy Spirit | uMoya oNgcwele | uMoya oNgcwele | Critical | HSC | 1, 3, 7, 14-16, 20 | [TM-REUSE]. Never conflate with amadlozi or a diviner’s possessing spirit; John 20:22’s “receive the Holy Spirit” is a key text. |
| Father | uBaba | uBaba | High | DPC, UFS | 1, 3, 5, 10, 14, 17, 20 | [TM-REUSE]. Anchored to the specific Father-Son Trinitarian relationship, not a generic elder/ancestor figure. |
| Grace | umusa | umusa | High | GLW | 1 | [TM-REUSE]. Appears in “grace and truth” (1:14, 1:17). |
| Faith / believe (noun root) | ukholo | ukholo | High | ELF, JBU | throughout | [TM-REUSE] (noun). New verb form “-kholwa” (Table B) shares this root deliberately. |
| Sin | isono | isono | High | JBU, HSC | 1, 8, 9, 16 | [TM-REUSE]. |
| Law | umthetho | umthetho | High | (background) | 1, 7 | [TM-REUSE]. Kept distinct from new term “commandment” (entolē, Table B). |
| Salvation | usindiso | usindiso | Critical | ELF, GLW | 3, 4 | [TM-REUSE]. Root shared with new terms “Savior” and “be saved” (Table B). |
| Resurrection | ukuvuka kwabafileyo | ukuvuka kwabafileyo | Critical | CSD | 2, 5, 11, 20 | [TM-REUSE]. Never conflate with joining the amadlozi. |
| Incarnation | ukuba ngumuntu | ukuba ngumuntu | Critical | DPC | 1 | [TM-REUSE]. Primary proof text is John 1:14 (“the Word became flesh”). |
| Peace | ukuthula | ukuthula | Medium | HSC | 14, 16, 20 | [TM-REUSE]. |
| Holy | -ngcwele | ngcwele | High | HSC, CSD | 6, 10, 17 | [TM-REUSE] root. Basis for new term “sanctify/consecrate” (Table B). |
| Messiah / Christ | uMesiya / uKristu | uMesiya / uKristu | Critical | DPC | 1, 4, 7, 11, 20 | [TM-REUSE]. |
| Israel | uIsrayeli | uIsrayeli | Medium | (background) | 1, 3 | [TM-REUSE]. |
| Kingdom of God | umbuso kaNkulunkulu | umbuso kaNkulunkulu | Medium | NBR | 3, 18 | [TM-REUSE]. John 18:36 (“my kingdom is not of this world”) gives direct textual warrant for defusing the term’s Ndebele royal/political weight. |
| Apostle (root: “sent”) | umphostoli / ukuthuma (verb) | umphostoli | Medium/High | (background) | 3, 17, 20 | [TM-REUSE] noun; verb “-thuma” applied uniquely to the Father’s sending of the Son. |
| Righteousness | ukulunga | ukulunga | Critical | HSC (Spirit convicts re: righteousness) | 16 | [TM-REUSE]. |
| Election | ukukhethwa | ukukhethwa | High | (background) | 15 | [TM-REUSE] root, extended to “I chose you” (15:16). |
| Calling | ubizo | ubizo | High | NBR (background) | 6 (via “draw”) | [TM-REUSE], taught alongside new term “draw” (helkyō, Table B). |
Table B — New Terms Introduced by the Gospel of John
| English term | Original Greek | Transliteration | Ndebele rendering | Doctrine risk | Doctrine link(s) | Occurs (chapters) | Alternatives rejected | Notes / translation risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Word (Logos) | λόγος | logos | iLizwi | Critical | DPC | 1 | ”umyalezo” (message) — rejected, too weak/impersonal | Must be a personal title for the eternal, divine Son, not a mere message. Established Nguni Bible tradition term. |
| Light | φῶς | phōs | ukukhanya | High | JBU, DPC | 1, 3, 8, 9, 12 | — | Governing Johannine symbol for Christ/revelation; must not be blurred with indigenous concepts of spiritual illumination via diviners. |
| Darkness | σκότος / σκοτία | skotos / skotia | ubumnyama | High | JBU | 1, 3, 12 | — | Moral/spiritual opposition to Christ, not a benign physical absence of light. |
| World (theological, dual-sense) | κόσμος | kosmos | umhlaba | Critical | GLW, JBU | 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 12, 14-18 | ”ilizwe” (nation/country) — rejected, too narrow/political | Two senses must be distinguished by context: (1) humanity as object of God’s love (3:16), (2) the God-opposing system under its “ruler” (12:31). |
| Love (agapaō/agapē) | ἀγαπάω / ἀγάπη | agapaō / agapē | uthando / -thanda | High | GLW | 3, 13, 15, 17, 21 | — | Committed, self-giving, sovereign love; distinguished pastorally (not lexically) from phileō at John 21 (see note there). |
| Believe (verb) | πιστεύω | pisteuō | ukukholwa | Critical | ELF, JBU | throughout (~98x) | — | Verb form of [TM-REUSE] “ukholo”; noun-verb consistency essential across curricula. |
| Life (eternal) | ζωὴ αἰώνιος | zōē aiōnios | ukuphila okuphakade | Critical | ELF | 3, 4, 5, 6, 17, 20 | ”impilo ende” (long life) — rejected, reduces to this-worldly longevity | Must not be reduced to prosperity/longevity or joining the amadlozi after death. |
| Life (natural/soul) | ψυχή | psychē | umphefumulo / impilo (context-dependent) | Medium | CSD | 10 (lay down life), 12 | — | Distinguish from zōē; used for the natural life voluntarily surrendered by Christ. |
| Testify / testimony | μαρτυρέω / μαρτυρία | martyreō / martyria | ukufakaza / ubufakazi | High | DPC, JBU | 1, 3, 5, 8, 15, 18, 21 | — | Courtroom-reliability register; foundational to the Gospel’s own epistemology (20:31). |
| Born again / born from above | γεννηθῇ ἄνωθεν | gennēthē anōthen | ukuzalwa kutsha | Critical | NBR | 3 | ”ukuzalwa kusukela phezulu” (born from above, standalone) — rejected as primary rendering since it loses the “again” sense driving Nicodemus’s confusion (v.4), though the “from above” sense must still be taught explicitly | Deliberate Greek double meaning; Ndebele cannot carry both senses in one word. Translator note mandatory. |
| Water (regeneration context) | ὕδωρ | hydōr | amanzi | Medium | NBR | 3, 4 | — | Must not reduce new birth to correctly-performed ritual washing. |
| Spirit / wind / breath | πνεῦμα | pneuma | uMoya / umoya | Critical | NBR, HSC | 3, 4, 7, 14-16, 20 | — | Ndebele “umoya” conveniently covers both “wind” and “Spirit” as in Greek — an asset preserving John 3:8’s wordplay. Context must distinguish the divine Person from ordinary wind and from amadlozi. |
| Flesh | σάρξ | sarx | inyama | High | NBR, DPC | 1, 3, 6 | — | Creaturely, merely-human order of origin/existence; in 1:14, deliberately physical (“the Word became flesh”). |
| Judge / judgment (verb) | κρίνω | krinō | ukwahlulela | High | JBU | 3, 5, 8, 9 | — | Distinguish from the noun/verdict sense (krisis, below). |
| Judgment / verdict (noun) | κρίσις | krisis | isahlulelo | High | JBU | 3, 5, 9, 12, 16 | — | Names the judging event/verdict itself, e.g., “this is the judgment” (3:19). |
| Condemn | κατακρίνω (implied)/κρίνεται | katakrinō | ukulahlwa / ukugwetshwa | High | JBU | 3 | — | “Not condemned” / “condemned already” — must convey a present, settled state, not merely future threat. |
| Truth | ἀλήθεια | alētheia | iqiniso | Critical | DPC, HSC | 1, 3, 4, 8, 14, 16, 17, 18 | — | Major Johannine theme; must be rendered consistently across the whole Gospel; climaxes at “I am the truth” (14:6). |
| Only begotten / one and only | μονογενής | monogenēs | iNdodana yakhe ezelwe yodwa / ozelwe yedwa | Critical | DPC, UFS | 1, 3 | ”eyodwa yakhe” (his only one) — rejected, ambiguous, does not clearly denote uniqueness of kind | Must not imply “favorite among several,” nor be confused with [TM-REUSE] “ukutholwa njengomntwana” (believers’ adoption). |
| Lamb of God | ἀμνὸς τοῦ θεοῦ | amnos tou theou | iWundlu likaNkulunkulu | Critical | CSD | 1, 19 | — | Passover/Isaiah 53 background required; must not be confused with ancestor-appeasement sacrifice. |
| Son of Man | υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου | huios tou anthrōpou | iNdodana yoMuntu | Critical | DPC | 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, 13 | — | Combines full deity (Daniel 7 background) and full humanity; distinct from [TM-REUSE] “iNdodana kaNkulunkulu.” |
| Savior | σωτήρ | sōtēr | uMsindisi | Critical | GLW, ELF | 4 | — | Built on [TM-REUSE] “usindiso” root for noun-title consistency. |
| Sign (miracle) | σημεῖον | sēmeion | isibonakaliso | Medium | DPC | 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 20 | ”isimangaliso” (wonder) — rejected, too close to occult-wonder register | Distinguish from wonders attributed to izinyanga/izangoma. |
| Disciple | μαθητής | mathētēs | umfundi | Medium | (background) | 1-21 (pervasive) | — | Distinguish from “umfundisi” (teacher). |
| Glorify (verb) | δοξάζω | doxazō | ukudunyiswa | High | DPC, CSD | 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 17 | — | Verb built on [TM-REUSE] “udumo” (glory, noun). |
| ”I am” (absolute, divine echo) | ἐγώ εἰμι | egō eimi | Mina ngikhona / Yimi (context-dependent) | Critical | DPC, SIA | 4 (implied), 6, 8, 13, 18 | — | Distinct construction from the seven predicated “I am [X]” statements; echoes Exodus 3:14. Translator note mandatory at 8:58 and 18:5-6. |
| ”I am [predicate]” (the Seven “I Am” Statements) | ἐγώ εἰμι + predicate | egō eimi | ”Mina ngiyi-…” (fixed construction) | Critical | SIA, DPC | 6 (bread), 8 (light), 10 (door; good shepherd), 11 (resurrection and life), 14 (way/truth/life), 15 (true vine) | — | Use one consistent Ndebele construction across all seven for pattern-recognition; each requires its own translator note. |
| Convict / expose / reprove | ἐλέγχω | elenchō | ukusola / ukuveza obala | Medium/High | JBU, HSC | 3, 16 | — | Same verb links 3:20 (self-exposure by avoiding the light) and 16:8 (the Spirit’s convicting work) — deliberate cross-reference. |
| Overcome / conquer | νικάω | nikaō | ukunqoba | High | CSD | 16 | — | “I have overcome the world” anticipates cross/resurrection victory. |
| It is finished | τετέλεσται | tetelestai | Sekuphelile | Critical | CSD | 19 | ”Kwaphela” (it ended) — rejected, lacks the sense of sufficient accomplishment/debt paid in full | Must convey completed, sufficient accomplishment, never resignation or defeat. |
| Abide / remain | μένω | menō | ukuhlala (kuye) | High | ELF (fruitfulness) | 15 | — | Durative, continuous, vital union with Christ. |

| Draw (irresistibly) | ἕλκω | helkyō | ukudonsa | High | ELF (background: sovereign initiative) | 6 | — | Parallel to [TM-REUSE] “ukukhethwa”/“ubizo”; must not imply impersonal fate. |
| Equal with God | ἴσος τῷ θεῷ | isos tō theō | ukulingana loNkulunkulu | Critical | DPC | 5 | — | Presented by John as a true statement about Christ, not merely a hostile accusation. |

| Works of God (re: suffering) | τὰ ἔργα τοῦ θεοῦ | ta erga tou theou | imisebenzi kaNkulunkulu | High | JBU (corrective) | 9 | — | Corrects a retributive (sin-causes-misfortune) reading of suffering common in traditional religious frameworks. |
| Unity (Father and Son are one) | ἕν ἐσμεν / ἕν | hen esmen / hen | sibunye / -munye | Critical | UFS | 10, 17 | — | Real unity of essence/purpose without collapsing the distinct persons (avoid modalism); believers’ unity (17:21-22) is modeled on, not identical to, this. |
| Sanctify / consecrate | ἁγιάζω | hagiazō | ukungcwelisa | High | HSC, CSD | 10, 17 | — | Built on [TM-REUSE] “-ngcwele”; distinguish the Son’s unique consecration for mission from believers’ ongoing [TM-REUSE] “ukungcweliswa.” |
| Children of God | τέκνα θεοῦ | tekna theou | abantwana bakaNkulunkulu | High | NBR | 1 | — | Complementary, not competing, image alongside [TM-REUSE] “ukutholwa njengomntwana” (adoption). |

| Hour (appointed time) | ὥρα | hōra | ihola (lami) | High | CSD | 2, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17 | — | Technical marker of Christ’s sovereignly appointed time of death-glorification, not a mere clock-hour. |

| Spirit of truth | πνεῦμα τῆς ἀληθείας | pneuma tēs alētheias | uMoya weqiniso | Critical | HSC | 14, 15, 16 | — | Built on [TM-REUSE] “uMoya oNgcwele” + new term “iqiniso.” |

Notes for Phase 2 Extension
- All [TM-REUSE] terms above must be enforced with the same non-negotiable priority as in the Romans package; no deviation is permitted for John.
- All new terms in Table B should be formally added to an extended
translation_memory.jsonfor John before Phase 2 segment translation begins, following the same JSON schema as the baseline. - The seven “I am” statements (Table B) should be treated as a linked set requiring a single, consistent Ndebele construction and cross-referenced translator notes, given their combined doctrinal weight (SIA + DPC).
- The absolute “I am” (8:58; 18:5-6) must be kept formally distinct from the seven predicated “I am [X]” statements in both rendering and footnoting, since it makes a different (and even higher) claim.
- “amaJuda” (the Jews) requires per-occurrence contextual review across the whole Gospel to avoid a mistranslation that implies collective ethnic culpability where the text specifically targets hostile religious authorities.
Critical Risk Terms
God
Approved rendering: uNkulunkulu
Transliteration: uNkulunkulu
Doctrine: Sovereignty of God
Original: θεός
Category: God
CRITICAL: the established Nguni term for the Supreme Being. The doctrinal risk is not the word itself but its traditional theological framing as remote and reached through ancestral mediators (amadlozi); John 1:1,1:18,14:9-11 and 20:28 all press toward direct, personal access to uNkulunkulu through the Son. Inherited from Romans package.
Jesus
Approved rendering: uJesu
Transliteration: uJesu
Doctrine: Lordship of Jesus Christ
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology
Standard, well-established Nguni Bible transliteration, used consistently across all 21 chapters of John. Inherited from Romans package.
Lord
Approved rendering: iNkosi
Transliteration: iNkosi
Doctrine: Lordship of Jesus Christ
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology
Must convey exclusive, supreme lordship. The collision with ‘iNkosi’ as historical royal/chieftaincy title recurs sharply at John 19:19-22’s ironic ‘King of the Jews’ inscription (see king_of_the_jews) and converges with ‘uNkulunkulu’ at Thomas’s confession (20:28, see lord_and_god_confession). Inherited from Romans package.
Son Of God
Approved rendering: iNdodana kaNkulunkulu
Transliteration: iNdodana kaNkulunkulu
Doctrine: Sonship of Christ

Approved rendering: uMoya oNgcwele
Transliteration: uMoya oNgcwele

World Kosmos
Approved rendering: umhlaba
Transliteration: umhlaba
Doctrine: God’s Love for the World
Rejected alternatives: ilizwe
Original: κόσμος
Category: Salvation
Two senses must be distinguished by context: (1) humanity as object of God’s love (3:16), (2) the God-opposing system under ‘the ruler of this world’ (12:31, 14:30, 16:11). ‘Ilizwe’ rejected as too narrow/politically loaded.
Believe
Approved rendering: ukukholwa
Transliteration: ukukholwa
Doctrine: Eternal Life through Faith in Christ
Original: πιστεύω
Category: Faith
John’s dominant verb (~98 occurrences) for the decisive human response to Jesus, built on the same root as ‘ukholo’ (faith, noun); root consistency between Romans and John is essential.

Approved rendering: ukwazi uNkulunkulu (component of ‘ukuphila okuphakade’)
Transliteration: ukwazi uNkulunkulu

Transliteration: ukuzalwa kutsha
Doctrine: The New Birth and Regeneration by the Spirit
Rejected alternatives: ukuzalwa kusukela phezulu
Original: γεννηθῇ ἄνωθεν
Category: New Birth
CRITICAL, foundational to John 3:1-8. Greek anōthen carries both ‘again’ and ‘from above’; no single Ndebele word carries both. ‘Ukuzalwa kutsha’ preserves ‘again’ (driving Nicodemus’s misunderstanding, v.4); the ‘from above’ sense must be taught explicitly in vv.5-8. Mandatory translator note at every occurrence; must never be conflated with becoming a spirit-medium taken by an idlozi.
Spirit Wind Breath
Approved rendering: uMoya / umoya
Transliteration: uMoya
Doctrine: The New Birth and Regeneration by the Spirit
Original: πνεῦμα
Category: God
CRITICAL. Ndebele ‘umoya’ conveniently covers both ‘wind/breath’ and ‘Spirit,’ preserving John 3:8’s wordplay as an asset. Context must always distinguish the divine Spirit from ordinary wind and from an ancestral spirit (idlozi); never leave ‘umoya’ unqualified in this discourse.
Truth
Approved rendering: iqiniso
Transliteration: iqiniso
Doctrine: The Holy Spirit as Counselor
Original: ἀλήθεια
Category: Revelation
Major recurring Johannine theme (chs. 1, 3, 4, 8, 14, 16, 17, 18), climaxing at ‘I am the truth’ (14:6). Must be rendered consistently across the whole Gospel; underlies ‘uMoya weqiniso’ (Spirit of truth).

Transliteration: ozelwe yedwa
Doctrine: The Deity and Pre-existence of Christ (the Word)
Rejected alternatives: eyodwa yakhe
Original: μονογενής
Category: Christology
Uniquely, incomparably one of a kind (1:14,18; 3:16,18). Must not imply a favorite among several divine sons, nor be confused with ‘ukutholwa njengomntwana’ (believers’ adoption), a categorically different, non-eternal status.

Transliteration: iWundlu likaNkulunkulu
Doctrine: Christ’s Substitutionary Death and Resurrection
Original: ἀμνὸς τοῦ θεοῦ

Doctrine: The Deity and Pre-existence of Christ (the Word)
Original: υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου

Pre Existent Glory
Approved rendering: udumo… ngingakabi khona umhlaba
Transliteration: udumo ngingakabi khona umhlaba
Doctrine: The Deity and Pre-existence of Christ (the Word)
John 17:5,24’s explicit, unambiguous statement of Christ’s personal pre-existence (‘the glory I had with you before the world existed’), reinforcing John 1:1. Must be preserved as a clausal statement, not compressed into a single word.
I Am Absolute
Approved rendering: Mina ngikhona / Yimi
Transliteration: Mina ngikhona
Doctrine: The Deity and Pre-existence of Christ (the Word)
Original: ἐγώ εἰμι
Category: Christology
The absolute, unpredicated ‘I am,’ echoing Exodus 3:14 (8:58, ‘before Abraham was, I am’; re-enacted at 18:5-6). Formally distinct from the seven predicated ‘I am [X]’ statements. Mandatory translator note required at both occurrences, linking them to each other and to the divine name.

Transliteration: Sekuphelile
Doctrine: Christ’s Substitutionary Death and Resurrection
Rejected alternatives: Kwaphela
Original: τετέλεσται
Category: Atonement

Doctrine: The Deity and Pre-existence of Christ (the Word)
Original: ἴσος τῷ θεῷ
Category: Christology
Making oneself equal in nature/status to God the Father (5:18). Must be preserved as a true statement about Christ (John narrates the leaders’ charge as an accurate understanding of Jesus’s claim), not merely a hostile accusation.
Unity Father Son
Approved rendering: sibunye / -munye
Transliteration: sibunye
Doctrine: Unity of the Father and the Son
Original: ἐγὼ καὶ ὁ πατὴρ ἕν ἐσμεν
Category: Christology
Direct assertion of essential unity between Son and Father (10:30), extended into Jesus’s prayer for believers’ unity (17:11,21-23). Must affirm real unity of essence/nature without collapsing the distinct persons (avoiding modalism); believers’ unity is modeled on, not identical in kind to, this.
Paraclete
Approved rendering: uMduduzi
Transliteration: uMduduzi
Doctrine: The Holy Spirit as Counselor
Rejected alternatives: umsizi
Original: παράκλητος
Category: God
CRITICAL. Established Nguni/Zulu Bible tradition rendering (from ‘-duduza,’ to comfort). ‘Another Paraclete’ (14:16,26; 15:26; 16:7) implies continuity with Jesus’s own ministry. Must carry the fuller advocate/counselor/comforter range, never conflated with an ancestral spirit or a diviner’s possessing spirit.
Spirit Of Truth
Approved rendering: uMoya weqiniso
Transliteration: uMoya weqiniso
Doctrine: The Holy Spirit as Counselor
Original: πνεῦμα τῆς ἀληθείας
Category: God

Doctrine: The Deity and Pre-existence of Christ (the Word)
Original: ὁ κύριός μου καὶ ὁ θεός μου
Category: Christology

One Man Die For The People
Approved rendering: indoda eyodwa ifele abantu
Transliteration: indoda eyodwa ifele abantu
Doctrine: Christ’s Substitutionary Death and Resurrection
Caiaphas’s unwitting prophecy of Christ’s substitutionary, vicarious death (11:49-52), remarkable for being placed in the mouth of Jesus’s chief opponent. The preposition ‘for/on behalf of’ must carry unmistakable vicarious/substitutionary force, not a weak ‘because of.‘

Approved rendering: uBaba
Transliteration: uBaba

Original: πατήρ
Category: God
God as personal Father, anchored to the specific Father-Son Trinitarian relationship (5:17-23, 10:30,38, 14:9-11,28, 17), not a generic ancestral-elder figure, despite the strong positive resonance Ndebele kinship vocabulary carries. Inherited from Romans package.

Original: ἀγαπάω / ἀγάπη
Category: God
Committed, self-giving, deliberate divine love (3:16, 13:1,34-35, 15:9-13, 17:23-26). Ndebele ‘-thanda’ does not lexically distinguish agapaō from phileō (surfaces sharply at 21:15-17); this must be carried in teaching notes, not the bare text.

Approved rendering: ukufakaza / ubufakazi
Transliteration: ukufakaza

Transliteration: ukulahlwa
Doctrine: Judgment and Belief/Unbelief
Original: κρίνεται / κέκριται
Category: Judgment
