Core Glossary — 1 Timothy (English → Bavarian)
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, covering 1 Timothy chapters 1–6. Terms marked BASELINE REUSE carry forward their exact recorded rendering and risk tier from the Romans translation_memory.json / bible_term_registry.json and MUST NOT be altered. All other terms are NEW proposals for this curriculum, submitted here for Phase 1 Step 2 (doctrine risk registry) ratification. Risk tiers follow the baseline’s definitions (Critical/High/Medium/Low). Every Critical/High entry includes a specific, grounded collision reason as required.

Headline finding for Step 2 (doctrine risk registry): where the Romans baseline’s dominant risk pattern was a register gap (no dialect vocabulary exists for abstract Reformation-era terms), 1 Timothy’s dominant risk pattern is the opposite: real, concrete, living Bavarian Catholic institutional vocabulary already exists for nearly every office and concept this letter introduces (Bischof, Diakon, Ältester/Priester, Mysterium fidei, Depositum fidei, Handauflegung) — and that existing vocabulary names a later, more developed institutional reality than the emerging offices and charges Paul describes to Timothy. Every Critical and High risk term in Section B above documents a specific instance of this pattern.

Must ALWAYS appear as the fixed collocation ‘oa Mittler’ (one mediator), rendered with the same unqualified exclusivity the baseline established for Romans 10:9’s Lordship confession. Forbidden to soften into ‘a mediator among others.’ Every occurrence requires human theologian review. Must also be taught alongside explicit affirmation of Christ’s full deity (cross-reference baseline ‘lord’/‘son_of_god’ precedent), since Jehovah’s Witness (NWT) literature circulating in Bavaria embeds this same lexical choice within a subordinationist Christology that must not be echoed.

The single most sensitive phrase-level collision in this curriculum: identical to the Catholic Mass’s Eucharistic institution-narrative response, spoken by the priest immediately after the consecration — ‘Mysterium fidei,’ rendered in the German-language Mass as ‘Geheimnis des Glaubens.’ Hearers will almost certainly first recall the Mass, not Paul’s sense of the revealed gospel content deacons must personally grasp and hold with a clear conscience. Teaching material MUST explicitly distinguish Paul’s usage from the Eucharistic-liturgical usage at every occurrence; do not substitute ‘Sakrament’ or ‘heiligs Mysterium,’ which would deepen rather than clarify the collision.
