Doctrine Analysis
Doctrine Analysis — 2 Peter (Full-Book Matrix)
Purpose
This document executes PRD Phase 1 Step 4/5 doctrine mapping across the entire book of 2 Peter, chapter by chapter, pericope by pericope. It is fully consistent with assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json: every doctrine name, risk tier, and review-routing value below is identical to the registry. This document adds the chapter-sequential organization, explicit “reviewed” notes for sections that introduce no new doctrine risk, and condensed translation-risk rationale keyed to the Hebrew destination language.
Risk tier definitions (unchanged from baseline):
- Critical — Human theologian review required for every occurrence.
- High — Human theologian review required.
- Medium — Native speaker review recommended.
- Low — Automated review sufficient.
Core passage note: 2 Peter 1:16-21 is the theological anchor of this curriculum (apostolic eyewitness testimony + inspiration of Scripture), but per the PRD mandate, full-book coverage below spans all three chapters first to last.
Chapter 1 (2 Peter 1:1-21)
1:1-2 — Salutation
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deity of Christ | 1:1 | Critical | Single-article Greek construction binds “God” and “Savior” to one referent (Jesus); presses directly against the Shema’s absolute unity affirmation. Must be framed as compatible with, not a departure from, that unity. | Human theologian |
| Lordship of Christ | 1:2 | Critical | אדון applied to Jesus from the letter’s opening line; establishes the dense repetition pattern that continues throughout the book. | Human theologian |
| Salvation | 1:1 | Critical | מושיע/ישועה root-pun with ישוע must be taught explicitly, not assumed as incidental. | Human theologian |
| Savior title and identity | 1:1 | High | First of many structural title-uses of מושיע; must be taught against default corporate/national deliverer expectation at this first occurrence. | Human theologian |
Baseline-reused, lower-risk terms present but not separately tracked as doctrines: grace (חסד, High per baseline), peace (שלום, Medium per baseline), apostle (שליח, Medium per baseline), righteousness (צדק, Critical per baseline, in “righteousness of our God and Savior”).
1:3-4 — Divine Provision and the Divine Nature
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Divine Nature and Escaping Corruption | 1:3-4 | Critical | Highest-risk doctrine in the book. טבע אלוהי risks a Hellenistic apotheosis reading and a Kabbalistic/Hasidic hitkalelut (mystical merger) reading simultaneously. Must be anchored to moral/relational transformation and conformity to Christ, never ontological merger with God’s essence. | Human theologian |
| Divine Calling and Election, Confirmed by Virtue | 1:3 | High | ”Called” (קרוא) here functions as the doctrinal seed for the 1:10 imperative; must not be read as human achievement. | Human theologian |
1:5-11 — Growing in Virtue and Confirming One’s Calling
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Growing in Christian Virtue | 1:5-9 | Medium | Virtue-chain (מעלה, ידיעה, ריסון עצמי, התמדה, אהבת אחים, אהבה) mostly maps onto standard ethical vocabulary; ידיעה must stay lexically distinct from דעת (epignōsis) throughout. | Native speaker review |
| Godliness as Cultivated Virtue and End-Times Posture | 1:6-7 | High | יראת שמים carries strong positive Rabbinic resonance but is conventionally bound to mitzvot-observance; must be taught as flowing from faith in Messiah and Spirit-given transformation. | Human theologian |
| Divine Calling and Election, Confirmed by Virtue | 1:10 | High | ”Confirm your calling and election” (הקריאה והבחירה) risks being heard as earning election through works rather than evidencing a prior divine choice. | Human theologian |
| Savior title and identity | 1:11 | High | ”Our Lord and Savior” — reinforces structural title pattern begun at 1:1. | Human theologian |
| Lordship of Christ | 1:8, 1:11, 1:14 | Critical | Continued dense repetition of אדון; must never be undershot to the mundane “sir” sense once its weight is established. | Human theologian |
| Certainty of Christ’s Return | 1:11 | Critical | ”Eternal kingdom” (מלכות עולם) extends baseline kingdom_of_God; distinguish from Jewish national/territorial sovereignty expectations. | Human theologian |
1:12-15 — Peter’s Impending Death
Reviewed: No new Critical/High doctrine triggered in this unit beyond apostolic authority already tracked under Apostolic Eyewitness Testimony (see 1:16-18 below). New lower-risk glossary items occur here: אוהל (tent/tabernacle for the body, Medium) and יציאה (departure/exodus, Low, positive Yetzi’at Mitzrayim typology). No registry doctrine entry is required for this span; native speaker review is sufficient for these two terms per their individual risk tiers in 08_core_glossary.md.
1:16-18 — CORE PASSAGE: Eyewitness Testimony of Christ’s Majesty
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apostolic Eyewitness Testimony and the Transfiguration | 1:16-18 | High | מיתוסים must be kept distinct from the respected rabbinic Aggadah category; ההר הקדוש’s strong Sinai/Zion resonance must be explicitly distinguished from those specific typologies. | Human theologian |
| Sonship of Christ | 1:17 | Critical | The Father’s direct-speech “בְּנִי” presses the ontological Sonship claim with maximum directness; existing Tanakh “sons of God” categories (angelic beings, Israel corporately) must be explicitly set aside. | Human theologian |
| Certainty of Christ’s Return | 1:16 | Critical | First occurrence of בואו; must be rendered identically at every subsequent occurrence (3:4, 3:12) and never as ביאתו. The Transfiguration functions as eyewitness proof-of-concept for a still-future, visible return. | Human theologian |
| Lordship of Christ | 1:16 | Critical | Continued אדון repetition inside the core passage itself. | Human theologian |
1:19-21 — The Prophetic Word Confirmed
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Reliability and Inspiration of Scripture | 1:19-21 | Critical | הכתוב must avoid collision with כְּתוּבִים (Ketuvim); הובלו must avoid the false-friend נישאו (“were married”); ongoing personal Spirit-superintended inspiration must be taught against the Rabbinic default of impersonal Spirit-influence and its departure after the last prophets (Yoma 9b). | Human theologian |
| Certainty of Christ’s Return | 1:19 | Critical | ”Morning star” (כוכב הבוקר) must avoid כוכב השחר, which collides with Isaiah 14:12’s fallen-figure (“Helel”) association. | Human theologian |
| Lordship of Christ | (implicit, continuity) | Critical | Prophetic word points to the same Lord named throughout; no new occurrence but doctrinal continuity noted. | Human theologian |
Chapter 2 (2 Peter 2:1-22)
2:1-3 — False Teachers Introduced
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| False Teachers and Their Judgment | 2:1-3 | High | כפירות הרסניות must never be rendered with מִינוּת, the historic rabbinic term applied against early Jewish-Christian groups — an especially painful potential collision for this audience. | Human theologian |
| Christ’s Ownership of Believers Through Purchase | 2:1 | Medium | קנה must be handled alongside grace/salvation terms; avoid drift toward a “charity” reading, by analogy to the baseline’s imputed_righteousness tzedakah caution. | Native speaker review |
| Lordship of Christ | 2:1 | Critical | δεσπότης (“Master”) converges on אדון with κύριος; footnote the ownership nuance so the two Greek terms’ distinct emphasis is not lost. | Human theologian |
| The Destiny of the Wicked | 2:1, 2:3 | High | אבדון carries strong cognate OT resonance but risks being heard as invoking a personified Abaddon figure (cf. Revelation 9:11) rather than Peter’s intended abstract state of ruin. | Human theologian |
| Salvation | 2:1 (implicit, false teachers deny the Master who “bought” them) | Critical | Continuity with the salvation doctrine’s Critical tier; the purchase-language must not collapse into corporate/national deliverance categories. | Human theologian |
2:4-10a — Historical Precedents of Divine Judgment
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Historical Precedents of Divine Judgment (Angels, Flood, Sodom) | 2:4-9 | Medium | טרטרוס is transliterated rather than mapped onto שְׁאוֹל (the general realm of the dead for all humanity, not angelic-specific confinement); requires brief explicit theological explanation. Other terms (מבול, נח, סדום ועמורה) are strong shared OT resources with low independent risk. | Native speaker review |
| The Destiny of the Wicked | 2:9 | High | ”Kept for judgment” continuity with 2:1,3 destiny-of-the-wicked doctrine. | Human theologian |
| Lordship of Christ | 2:9, 2:11 | Critical | Continued אדון density across the judgment narrative. | Human theologian |
2:10b-16 — Character and Conduct of False Teachers
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| False Teachers and Their Judgment | 2:10b-16 | High | Continuity of the false-teacher polemic; care that moral-conduct critique is not read as ethnic/religious polemic. | Human theologian |
| Historical Precedents of Divine Judgment | 2:15-16 (Balaam) | Medium | בלעם is a strong shared OT resource; low independent risk within this cluster. | Native speaker review |
2:17-22 — Judgment, False Freedom, and Apostasy
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Destiny of the Wicked | 2:17, 2:19 | High | ”Slaves of corruption” continues the destiny-of-the-wicked doctrine; אבדון-adjacent vocabulary recurs. | Human theologian |
| False Freedom and True Bondage to Corruption | 2:19 | Medium | חירות carries strong positive Passover resonance (“זְמַן חֵרוּתֵנוּ”); the irony of false teachers promising freedom while enslaved to corruption must be taught explicitly. | Native speaker review |
| False Teachers and Their Judgment | 2:20-21 | High | ”Way of righteousness” (דרך הצדק) at 2:21 inherits the full Critical-risk baseline righteousness caution against tzedakah drift. | Human theologian |
| Salvation / Savior title | 2:20 | Critical / High | ”Knowledge of our Lord and Savior” — continued structural title-use; must be taught against corporate/national deliverer default at every recurrence, not just once. | Human theologian |
| Lordship of Christ | 2:20 | Critical | Continued אדון density. | Human theologian |
Chapter 3 (2 Peter 3:1-18)
3:1-2 — Reminder of Prophetic and Apostolic Words
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Reliability and Inspiration of Scripture | 3:2 | Critical | Continuity with 1:19-21; “predicted by the holy prophets” and “commandment…through your apostles” places OT prophetic and NT apostolic authority side by side — a structural anticipation of the 3:16 canon claim. | Human theologian |
| Lordship of Christ | 3:2 | Critical | Continued אדון occurrence. | Human theologian |
3:3-7 — Scoffers and the Coming Day of Judgment
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| End-Time Scoffing at the Promise of Christ’s Return | 3:3-4 | Medium | לצים has excellent positive OT resonance (Psalm 1:1) but must be explicitly connected to the specific object mocked — the certainty of Christ’s return — rather than left as generic mockery. | Native speaker review |
| Certainty of Christ’s Return | 3:4 | Critical | Second occurrence of בואו; must match 1:16 and 3:12 identically. | Human theologian |
| The Day of the Lord and Final Judgment | 3:7 | Critical | יום הדין introduced here; its rich Rosh HaShanah/Un’taneh Tokef liturgical frame must be explicitly related to this once-for-all, final, cosmic judgment rather than left as an annual/covenantal cycle. | Human theologian |
3:8-10 — God’s Patience and the Day of the Lord
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Patience of God’s Timing | 3:9 | High | אֶרֶך אַפַּיִם directly cites Exodus 34:6 (the baseline’s own grace anchor text) — a strong positive asset — but must be deliberately distinguished from התמדה (human perseverance, ch. 1) so the two are not lexically collapsed. | Human theologian |
| Repentance as the Goal of God’s Patience | 3:9 | High | תשובה is the central category of Jewish religious life (Days of Awe) but is comprehensive covenantal-behavioral turning not inherently bound to faith in the Messiah; must be taught alongside אמונה. | Human theologian |
| The Day of the Lord and Final Judgment | 3:10 | Critical | First occurrence of יום ה’ proper; must use the exact traditional written form (never יום האדון) to preserve direct continuity with Joel/Amos/Zephaniah/Malachi’s technical term. | Human theologian |
| Certainty of Christ’s Return | 3:10 | Critical | ”Coming” continuity (implicit in “day of the Lord will come”). | Human theologian |
3:11-13 — The Promised New Heavens and New Earth
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Day of the Lord and Final Judgment | 3:12 | Critical | Third and final בואו occurrence (must match 1:16, 3:4); יום ה’ recurs at 3:12 as well. | Human theologian |
| The Promised New Heavens and New Earth | 3:13 | Medium | שמים חדשים וארץ חדשה directly cites the Masoretic wording of Isaiah 65:17 and requires citation-verbatim treatment, not free paraphrase. | Native speaker review |
| Godliness as Cultivated Virtue and End-Times Posture | 3:11 | High | ”Holy conduct and godliness” links ethical exhortation directly to eschatological expectation; continuity with 1:6-7. | Human theologian |
3:14-16 — Paul’s Letters as Scripture
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Canon Consciousness: Apostolic Writings as Scripture | 3:15-16 | Critical | שְׁאָר כִּתְבֵי הַקּוֹדֶשׁ extends the standard term for the Hebrew Bible canon to Paul’s letters — an explicit canon-boundary claim a Hebrew-speaking reader will recognize as directly engaging the boundaries of the Jewish canon. | Human theologian |
| The Reliability and Inspiration of Scripture | 3:16 | Critical | ”Private interpretation” (פירוש עצמי) risks collision with פשר, the Qumran sectarian technical term for prophetic interpretation. | Human theologian |
| The Patience of God’s Timing | 3:15 | High | ”Our Lord’s patience means salvation” — direct pairing of patience with salvation; must not default to corporate/national deliverance sense. | Human theologian |
| Salvation / Savior title | 3:15 | Critical / High | Continued structural title-use and salvation doctrine continuity. | Human theologian |
3:17-18 — Closing Exhortation and Doxology
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steadfastness Against Doctrinal Error | 3:17-18 | Medium | יציבות and the exhortation to grow in חסד וידיעה carry standard risk, but the pairing with חסד inherits the baseline’s High-risk grace-doctrine caution regarding Torah-observance framing. | Native speaker review |
| Savior title and identity | 3:18 | High | ”Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” — final structural title occurrence. | Human theologian |
| Lordship of Christ | 3:18 | Critical | Final אדון occurrence in the book. | Human theologian |
| Closing Doxology and Affirmation | 3:18 | Low | כבוד…עד יום העולם and אמן carry low collision risk; כבוד must retain its weighty divine-presence sense per the baseline glory entry. | Automated review |

Full-book coverage confirmation: Every verse span of 2 Peter 1:1 through 3:18 has been explicitly reviewed above. Sections contributing no new Critical/High/Medium doctrine (1:12-15) are explicitly noted as reviewed rather than silently omitted. No chapter, pericope, or doctrine in doctrine_risk_registry.json is absent from this matrix, and no new doctrine or risk tier has been introduced beyond what the registry defines.
This document, together with 04_comparative_theology.md, 07_semantic_analysis.md, and 08_core_glossary.md, forms the complete Phase 1 doctrine-mapping deliverable for 2 Peter. It must be loaded alongside the baseline translation_memory.json and bible_term_registry.json, and the 2 Peter doctrine_risk_registry.json, before any Phase 2 translation of 2 Peter segments begins.
Critical Risk Doctrines
The Reliability and Inspiration of Scripture
Hebrew name: מהימנות והשראת הכתובים
Key terms: prophetic word, Scripture, private interpretation, carried along, Holy Spirit, prophecy
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: הכתוב must avoid collision with כְּתוּבִים (Ketuvim, the specific third Tanakh division); הובלו must avoid the false-friend collision of נישאו (‘were married’); and the claim of ongoing personal Spirit-superintended inspiration must be taught against both mainstream Rabbinic defaults (impersonal Spirit-influence; departure of the Spirit after the last prophets, Yoma 9b) already documented in the baseline Holy Spirit entry.
Canon Consciousness: Apostolic Writings as Scripture
Hebrew name: מודעות לגבולות הקאנון
Key terms: the other Scriptures, Paul, Scripture
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: שְׁאָר כִּתְבֵי הַקּוֹדֶשׁ extends the standard Jewish term for the Hebrew Bible canon (Kitvei HaKodesh) to Paul’s letters, an explicit canon-boundary claim a Hebrew-speaking reader will recognize as directly engaging the boundaries of the Jewish canon, not merely restating a neutral fact.
Sonship of Christ
Hebrew name: מעמד הבן של המשיח
Key terms: my Son, beloved, well-pleased, Son of God
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: the Father’s own direct-speech declaration (‘בְּנִי’) presses the ontological Sonship claim with maximum directness. The Tanakh’s existing ‘sons of God’ categories (angelic beings, Genesis 6:2; Israel corporately, Exodus 4:22) never denote an individual sharing God’s own essence and must be explicitly set aside, exactly as required for Romans 1:4.
Deity of Christ
Hebrew name: אלוהות המשיח
Key terms: our God and Savior, God, Lord and Savior
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: 2 Peter 1:1’s single-article Greek construction binding ‘God’ and ‘Savior’ into one referent for Jesus presses directly against the Shema’s ‘Hashem Echad,’ the central daily-recited affirmation of absolute divine unity. Trinitarian claims must be framed as compatible with, not a departure from, that unity, exactly as required for Romans 9:5.
Lordship of Christ
Hebrew name: אדנות המשיח
Key terms: Lord, our Lord and Savior, Master
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: אדון is repeated with unusual density throughout 2 Peter, applied consistently to Jesus. Adonai’s role as the traditional spoken substitute for the Tetragrammaton makes every occurrence sensitive; must never be undershot into the merely mundane ‘sir’ sense nor treated as casual repetition once its weight is established.
Divine Nature and Escaping Corruption
Hebrew name: הטבע האלוהי והמלטות מן ההשחתה
Key terms: divine nature, partakers, corruption, lust, divine power
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: this is the single highest-risk doctrine in the book for Hebrew. טבע אלוהי risks a Hellenistic apotheosis (self-deification) reading and, separately, risks being absorbed into Kabbalistic/Hasidic categories of the soul’s mystical participation in or nullification (hitkalelut) within the divine. Must be explicitly taught as Spirit-given moral/relational transformation and conformity to Christ’s likeness, never ontological merger with God’s essence.
The Certainty of Christ’s Return
Hebrew name: וודאות שיבת המשיח
Key terms: coming (parousia), morning star, promise, eternal kingdom, scoffers
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: בואו must be rendered identically at every occurrence (1:16, 3:4, 3:12) and never as ביאתו, which collides with the halakhic euphemism for sexual relations. The Transfiguration is presented as eyewitness proof-of-concept for a still-future, visible return — a two-comings pattern that must be taught explicitly against the Rabbinic expectation of one unbroken messianic reign, per the baseline’s messianic_promise doctrine.
The Day of the Lord and Final Judgment
Hebrew name: יום ה’ והמשפט האחרון
Key terms: day of the Lord, day of judgment, elements, new heavens and new earth
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: יום ה’ must use the exact traditional written form (rather than ‘יום האדון’) to preserve direct continuity with the OT prophetic technical term (Joel 2, Amos 5, Zephaniah 1, Malachi 4), directly paralleling the baseline’s lordship_of_christ Critical-risk entry. Israel’s existing ‘Yom HaShem’ framework, often tied to national/covenantal expectations, must be taught as fulfilled, not replaced, in Christ’s return. יום הדין’s rich existing Rosh HaShanah/Un’taneh Tokef liturgical frame must also be explicitly related to this once-for-all, final, cosmic judgment rather than left as an annual/covenantal cycle.
Salvation
Hebrew name: הישועה
Key terms: salvation, Savior, saved
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: reused exactly from the baseline salvation doctrine. 2 Peter 3:15’s direct pairing of ‘salvation’ with God’s patience adds a distinct emphasis (a present, waiting, individual deliverance) that must not default to the corporate/national deliverance sense Jewish thought otherwise favors for ישועה.
High Risk Doctrines
Apostolic Eyewitness Testimony and the Transfiguration
Hebrew name: עדות שליחית של עדי ראייה
Key terms: eyewitnesses, myths, majesty, holy mountain, voice
Review routing: Human theologian
מיתוסים must be kept distinct from the respected rabbinic category of Aggadah; ההר הקדוש’s strong Sinai/Zion resonance must be explicitly distinguished from those specific traditions to avoid conflating distinct sacred-mountain typologies.
Divine Calling and Election, Confirmed by Virtue
Hebrew name: הקריאה והבחירה המאושרות במעשים
Key terms: called, calling, election
Review routing: Human theologian
The command to ‘confirm’ (הקריאה והבחירה) one’s calling and election through virtue risks being heard as earning election through works if not carefully framed as evidencing, not securing, a prior divine choice — the same individual/corporate tension already documented in the baseline election entry for Romans 9.
Godliness as a Cultivated Virtue and Required End-Times Posture
Hebrew name: יראת שמים כמידה מתפתחת
Key terms: godliness, holy conduct
Review routing: Human theologian
יראת שמים carries strong, positive Rabbinic resonance as the standard term for genuine piety, but it is conventionally bound to Torah-mitzvot observance as its expression; 2 Peter’s godliness must be taught as flowing from faith in Messiah and Spirit-given transformation, not from continued ceremonial observance per se.
False Teachers and Their Judgment
Hebrew name: מורי השקר ומשפטם
Key terms: false teachers, false prophets, destructive heresies, bought/purchased, Master, way of righteousness
Review routing: Human theologian
כפירות הרסניות must never be rendered with מִינוּת, the Talmudic technical term historically applied by rabbinic authorities against early Jewish-Christian and other heterodox groups; using it would create a painfully ironic collision given the target audience’s own community history. דרך הצדק inherits the full Critical-risk baseline righteousness caution against drifting toward the ‘charity’ sense of tzedakah.
The Destiny of the Wicked (Destruction/Perdition)
Hebrew name: אחרית הרשעים
Key terms: destruction, perdition, to perish, slaves of corruption
Review routing: Human theologian
אבדון carries strong cognate resonance (Job 26:6; Proverbs 15:11) but risks being heard as invoking the personified/quasi-mythic Abaddon figure (cf. Revelation 9:11) rather than the abstract state of final ruin Peter intends; a clarifying note is recommended at each recurrence.
The Patience of God’s Timing
Hebrew name: אורך אפיו של אלוהים בהשגחתו
Key terms: patience, longsuffering, salvation
Review routing: Human theologian
אֶרֶך אַפַּיִם directly cites God’s self-revealed character at Exodus 34:6, already the baseline’s own anchor text for grace — a strong positive asset, but must be deliberately distinguished from התמדה (human perseverance, ch.1) so the two doctrines are not lexically collapsed into one Hebrew word.
Repentance as the Goal of God’s Patience
Hebrew name: התשובה כתכלית ארך האפים
Key terms: repentance, perish
Review routing: Human theologian
תשובה is the central category of Jewish religious life (the Days of Awe), a strong positive resource, but Jewish teshuvah is comprehensive covenantal-behavioral turning not inherently bound to faith in the Messiah as its mechanism; must be taught alongside אמונה exactly as required for the baseline’s obedience_of_faith doctrine.
Savior as a Title Bound to Christ’s Identity
Hebrew name: התואר מושיע וזהות המשיח
Key terms: Savior, Lord and Savior, God and Savior
Review routing: Human theologian
מושיע shares its root (י-שׁ-ע) with both ישועה and ישוע — a genuine, teachable etymological asset — but the term’s repeated, structural use as a title throughout 2 Peter (unlike its more occasional use in Romans) requires deliberate teaching against the default corporate/national ‘deliverer’ expectation at every occurrence, not just once.
Medium Risk Doctrines
Growing in Christian Virtue
Hebrew name: התפתחות במידות המשיחיות
Key terms: excellence, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, brotherly affection, love, stability
Review routing: Native speaker review
The virtue-chain terms (מעלה, ידיעה, ריסון עצמי, התמדה, אהבת אחים, אהבה) mostly map onto standard Modern Hebrew ethical vocabulary with low individual collision risk, but ידיעה must be kept lexically distinct from דעת (epignōsis) throughout to preserve 2 Peter’s own internal distinction between cultivated virtue-knowledge and deep relational knowledge of God.
Historical Precedents of Divine Judgment (Angels, Flood, Sodom)
Hebrew name: תקדימים היסטוריים של משפט אלוהי
Key terms: Tartarus, flood, Noah, Sodom and Gomorrah, righteous, Balaam
Review routing: Native speaker review
טרטרוס is transliterated rather than mapped onto שְׁאוֹל, since Sheol denotes the general realm of the dead for all humanity rather than a specific place of angelic confinement; this distinction requires brief explicit theological explanation to avoid unintended conflation. Other terms in this cluster (מבול, נח, סדום ועמורה, בלעם) are strong shared OT resources with low independent risk.
False Freedom and True Bondage to Corruption
Hebrew name: חירות מדומה ושעבוד להשחתה
Key terms: freedom, slaves of corruption
Review routing: Native speaker review
חירות carries strong, positive Passover resonance (‘זְמַן חֵרוּתֵנוּ’); the irony of false teachers promising freedom while enslaved to corruption must be taught explicitly so the positive resonance is not misapplied to the false teachers’ own claims.
End-Time Scoffing at the Promise of Christ’s Return
Hebrew name: ליצנות אחרית הימים אל מול הבטחת השיבה
Key terms: scoffers, promise, coming (parousia)
Review routing: Native speaker review
לצים has excellent, positive OT resonance (Psalm 1:1; Proverbs) as a moral category, but must be explicitly connected to the specific object being mocked — the certainty of Christ’s return — rather than left as generic mockery.
Christ’s Ownership of Believers Through Purchase
Hebrew name: בעלות המשיח על המאמינים דרך הקנייה
Key terms: bought, purchased, Master
Review routing: Native speaker review
קנה is conceptually adjacent to, but must be kept distinct from, ge’ulah/redemption categories, and handled so ‘purchase’ is not confused with a charity-drift reading, by analogy to the baseline’s imputed_righteousness tzedakah caution.
The Promised New Heavens and New Earth
Hebrew name: השמים החדשים והארץ החדשה המובטחים
Key terms: new heavens and new earth, elements, day of the Lord
Review routing: Native speaker review
שמים חדשים וארץ חדשה directly cites the Masoretic wording of Isaiah 65:17 and requires citation-verbatim treatment, like Genesis 15:6 in the baseline, rather than free paraphrase, so the OT prophetic anchor remains recognizable.
Steadfastness Against Doctrinal Error
Hebrew name: יציבות אל מול טעות
Key terms: stability, carried away, grow in grace and knowledge
Review routing: Native speaker review
יציבות and the closing exhortation to grow in חסד וידיעה carry standard, low-to-medium collision risk, but the pairing with חסד inherits the baseline’s High-risk grace doctrine caution regarding Torah-observance framing.
Low Risk Doctrines
Closing Doxology and Affirmation
Hebrew name: דוקסולוגיית הסיום
Key terms: glory, forever, Amen
Review routing: Automated review
כבוד…עד יום העולם and אמן carry low collision risk; כבוד must retain its weighty divine-presence sense per the baseline glory entry, but the closing doxological form itself is standard and low-risk.
