Core Glossary
Core Glossary: 2 Timothy — Kashmiri Destination Language
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing theological term identified in analysis/07_semantic_analysis.md, spanning all four chapters of 2 Timothy. Terms already present in the Romans baseline translation_memory.json are marked [BASELINE — REUSE EXACTLY] and their recorded Kashmiri rendering is repeated here unchanged, per the hard rule that established renderings must never be altered. New terms surfaced specifically by 2 Timothy are marked [NEW] and are candidates for formal addition to the Language Package’s translation_memory.json at the next version increment.
Risk tiers follow the baseline’s definitions exactly: Critical (theologian review, every occurrence), High (theologian review), Medium (native speaker review), Low (automated review).

Section 2: New Terms Introduced by 2 Timothy
| # | English Term | Greek | Kashmiri Rendering | Transliteration | Risk | Doctrine | Passages | Rejected Alternatives / Risk Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 24 | Sacred Writings / Scripture | ἱερὰ γράμματα / γραφή | پاک صحیفہ | pāk sahīfa | High | Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture | 3:15, 3:16 | Matches existing baseline doctrine-name usage; shares root with Islamic صحیفہ/suhuf vocabulary — must not assume the Islamic tahrif (textual corruption) framework applies |
| 25 | God-breathed | θεόπνευστος | خُدا سٟتی الہام آمت | Khudā sātī ilhām āmat | CRITICAL | Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture | 3:16 | Rejected: bare الہام alone without the explicit “from God” qualifier, since ilhām ranks below wahy (verbatim prophetic revelation, reserved for the Quran) in mainstream Islamic revelatory theology, and is also claimed by Sufi saints as a lesser mystical-inspiration category; must state Scripture’s unique, direct divine origination without qualification. TOP PRIORITY for theologian review. |
| 26 | Profitable | ὠφέλιμος | فائدہ مند | fā’idah-mand | Low | Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture | 3:16 | No significant risk |
| 27 | Teaching / Doctrine | διδασκαλία / διδαχή | تعلیم | ta’līm | High | Guarding Sound Doctrine | 3:16, 4:2, 4:3, 3:10 | Generic shared vocabulary; must be distinguished from a comprehensive Sharia-style life-code when qualified as “sound doctrine” |

| 29 | Correction | ἐπανόρθωσις | اصلاح | islāh | Medium | Guarding Sound Doctrine | 3:16 | Shares root with Islamic reform-movement vocabulary (harakat al-islah); must be taught as personal/moral, not socio-political reform |
| 30 | Training in Righteousness | παιδεία ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ | راستبازیہ منز تربیت | rāstbāzī manz tarbiyat | High | Guarding Sound Doctrine | 3:16 | Inherits راستبازی’s Critical baseline profile; training flows from already-given righteous standing |
| 31 | Complete / Equipped | ἄρτιος / ἐξηρτισμένος | مکمل | mukammal | Medium | Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture | 3:17 | Rejected: کامل (kāmil), due to “al-Insan al-Kamil” (Perfect/Complete Man) Sufi mystical-anthropology resonance |
| 32 | Man of God | ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ | خُدایُک منش | Khudāyuk manush | High | The Charge to Preach the Word | 3:17 | Risk of being heard as “Mard-e-Khuda,” a Sufi/pir-adjacent honorific; must be taught as functional, not mystical-status, language |

| 35 | Preach/Proclaim the Word | κήρυξον τὸν λόγον | خُدایُک کلام مُنادی کر | Khudāyuk kalām munādī kar | CRITICAL | The Charge to Preach the Word | 4:2, 2:9 | کلام shares its root with Islamic “Kalamullah” (the Quran) and “Ilm al-Kalam” (Islamic theology); must state explicitly this names the apostolic gospel of Christ, not a rival scripture-claim |
| 36 | Patience / Longsuffering | μακροθυμία | تحمل | tahammul | Medium | Guarding Sound Doctrine | 4:2, 3:10 | Kept distinct from ὑπομονή/endurance |
| 37 | Sound Doctrine | ὑγιαινούσης διδασκαλίας | تندرست تعلیم | tandurust ta’līm | CRITICAL | Guarding Sound Doctrine | 4:3 | Rejected: عقیدہ (aqīda), the standard Islamic term for formal creed, to avoid a creed-vs-creed framing; keeps Paul’s own medical “healthy/whole” metaphor |
| 38 | Itching Ears | κνηθόμενοι τὴν ἀκοήν | نوی نوی کتھہ بوزنہ خاطرہ بے چٔین شوق | novī novī kath bōzun khātrē bē-cheun shauq | Medium | Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days | 4:3 | Idiom rendered by meaning, not literal calque; must preserve negative, self-indulgent connotation |

| 40 | Turn Away (from truth) | ἀποστρέφω | سچائیہ نیش رُد گژھُن | sachā’ī nēsh rud gachhun | High | Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days | 4:4 | Conceptually adjacent to Islamic ridda/irtidad (apostasy from Islam); must clarify referent is the apostolic gospel of Christ, not the Muslim community |
| 41 | Myths | μῦθοι | افسانہ | afsāna | Low-Medium | Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days | 4:4 | Contrast is truth vs. fabrication, not old vs. new teaching |
| 42 | Endure Hardship | κακοπάθησον / πάθημα | تکلیف برداشت کر / تکلیف | takleef bardāsht kar / takleef | High | Perseverance under Suffering | 4:5, 1:8, 2:9, 3:11 | Must be taught with pastoral sensitivity given Kashmir’s lived conflict history |

| 46 | Love | ἀγάπη | محبت | muhabbat | High | (supports Guarding Sound Doctrine / general ethics) | 1:7, 2:22, 3:10 | Risk of collapsing into Sufi mystical ishq/muhabbat longing-for-union vocabulary (cf. Lal Ded tradition); must teach self-giving covenantal love, not mystical dissolution-longing |
| 47 | Self-Control / Sound Mind | σωφρονισμός | ضبطِ نفس | zabt-e-nafs | High | (supports Perseverance under Suffering) | 1:7 | Risk of collapsing into Sufi nafs-mortification ascetic-discipline framework; must be taught as Spirit-given, not self-achieved |
| 48 | Immortality | ἀφθαρσία | لافانی زندگی | lāfānī zindagī | Medium | Assurance of Reward | 1:10 | فانی root shared with Sufi fanā (mystical self-annihilation); NT sense is bodily, personal, everlasting life, not dissolution of selfhood |
| 49 | Herald / Preacher | κήρυξ | مُنادی کرنہ وول | munādī karun wol | Medium | The Charge to Preach the Word | 1:11 | Rejected: واعظ (wā’iz), to avoid mosque-khatib connotation |
| 50 | Deposit / Entrusted Deposit | παραθήκη / παρατίθεμαι | امانت | amānat | CRITICAL | Guarding Sound Doctrine / Faithful Transmission of the Gospel | 1:12, 1:14, 2:2 | Rich point of contact with Quranic amānah (Q33:72) and the hadith on amānah’s loss as a sign of the Hour; must specify this deposit is the apostolic gospel of Christ transmitted through a specific faithful chain, not the general cosmic-ethical trust of Quranic anthropology. TOP PRIORITY for theologian review. |
| 51 | Faithful Men | πιστοὶ ἄνθρωποι | ایماندار منش | imāndār manush | High | Faithful Transmission of the Gospel | 2:2 | Built on established ایمان root |
| 52 | Soldier | στρατιώτης | سپاہی | sipāhī | High | Perseverance under Suffering | 2:3-4 | Military metaphor demands acute pastoral sensitivity given Kashmir’s militarized conflict history |
| 53 | The Good Fight/Contest | ἀγών | اَچھی مقابلہ | achhī muqābala | CRITICAL — FORBIDDEN SUBSTITUTION | Perseverance under Suffering / Assurance of Reward | 2:5, 4:7 | جہاد (jihād) must NEVER be used — risks equating Christian discipleship-struggle with the specific Islamic religious-struggle category and carries acute regional political/security connotations |
| 54 | Crowned | στεφανοῦται | تاج پاونہ | tāj pāwun | High | Assurance of Reward | 2:5 | See full treatment at #56 below |
| 55 | Endurance / I Endure | ὑπομένω / ὑπομονή | صبر | sabr | High | Perseverance under Suffering | 2:10, 3:10, 3:11 | Major Quranic virtue term (patient endurance rewarded by Allah); must ground NT endurance in already-secured grace, not an independent merit-accumulating virtue |
| 56 | Crown of Righteousness | στέφανος τῆς δικαιοσύνης | راستبازیہ ہنٛز تاج | rāstbāzī hunz tāj | CRITICAL | Assurance of Reward | 4:8 | Risk of being reheard as Islamic ajr (deeds-based reward); must teach this reward crowns a faithfulness that itself flows from grace, per Romans 4:4-5/11:5-6 pattern |
| 57 | Righteous Judge | δίκαιος κριτής | راستباز مُنصِف | rāstbāz munsif | High | Assurance of Reward | 4:8 | Built on established راستبازی root |

| 59 | Full Knowledge of the Truth | ἐπίγνωσις ἀληθείας | سچائی ہنٛز پوری پہچان | sachā’ī hunz pūrī pahchān | CRITICAL | Guarding Sound Doctrine / Apostasy | 2:25, 3:7 | پہچان risks being reheard as Trika pratyabhijna (self-recognition of innate divinity) for Kashmiri Pandit readers — a distinct, separate risk from توبہ’s Islamic-mercy-framework risk above; must be taught separately per audience |
| 60 | Rightly Handling the Word of Truth | ὀρθοτομέω | سچ کلام سیدھی طرحہ بیان کرنہ | sach kalām sīdhī tarahan bayān karun | CRITICAL | Guarding Sound Doctrine | 2:15 | Must not be reduced to a legalistic fiqh/tafsir-style rule-parsing methodology; names Spirit-guided, gospel-centered accurate exposition |
| 61 | The Lord’s Bondservant | δοῦλος κυρίου | خُداوندُک بندہ | Khudāwanduk banda | Medium | The Charge to Preach the Word | 2:24 | Point of contact with Islamic “banda-e-Khuda” identity; must specify bondservice to Christ through personal union, not generic Islamic submission-identity |
| 62 | Last Days | ἔσχαται ἡμέραι | آخری دۄہ | ākhrī dōh | CRITICAL | Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days | 3:1 | آخر directly invokes Islamic Akhirah/Qiyamah/Dajjal/Mahdi eschatological framework and the Isa-returns-to-affirm-Islam narrative, which directly contradicts 2 Timothy 4:1’s picture of Christ’s own return as judge; must be taught into directly. TOP PRIORITY for theologian review. |
| 63 | Form of Godliness (denying its power) | μόρφωσις εὐσεβείας | دینداری ہنٛز شکل | dīndārī hanz shakl | High | Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days | 3:5 | Must describe nominal professing-Christian religiosity specifically, never a generic critique of Islamic religious practice |
| 64 | Godliness | εὐσέβεια | خُدا ترسی | Khudā-tarsī | Medium | Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days | 3:5, 3:12 | Shared devotional vocabulary; must be Spirit-empowered and Christ-centered, not a generic piety metric |
| 65 | Disqualified concerning the Faith | ἀδόκιμος περὶ τὴν πίστιν | ایمانہ منز نامنظور | īmāna manz nāmanzūr | High | Guarding Sound Doctrine | 3:8 | Built on established ایمان root |
| 66 | Persecution | διωγμός | ظُلم / ستم | zulm / sitam | CRITICAL | Perseverance under Suffering | 3:11-12 | Deeply embedded in Kashmir’s own political/communal suffering vocabulary; requires the greatest pastoral sensitivity of any term in this book |

Priority Flags for Phase 2 Theologian Review
The following new terms are flagged as top priority for human theologian review before Phase 2 translation begins, given the depth and specificity of their doctrinal-collision risk:
- θεόπνευστος / خُدا سٟتی الہام آمت (God-breathed) — 3:16
- παραθήκη / امانت (the deposit) — 1:12, 1:14, 2:2
- ἔσχαται ἡμέραι / آخری دۄہ (the last days) — 3:1
- ἐπιφάνεια / مسیحُک ظاہر گژھُن (Christ’s appearing) — 4:1, 4:8
- κήρυξον τὸν λόγον / خُدایُک کلام مُنادی کر (preach the word) — 4:2
- ἀγών / مقابلہ (never جہاد) (the good fight) — 2:5, 4:7
- στέφανος τῆς δικαιοσύνης / راستبازیہ ہنٛز تاج (crown of righteousness) — 4:8
- διωγμός / ظُلم/ستم (persecution) — 3:11-12

Critical Risk Terms
Grace
Approved rendering: فضل
Transliteration: faz’l
Doctrine: Grace as the Foundation of Ministry
Rejected alternatives: شکتی پات (Shaktipat, never use as a substitute), رحم (mercy, use only as a supporting synonym for a distinct term, never a replacement)
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. 2 Timothy 1:9 (‘not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace’) is this book’s direct grace-vs-works statement and must resist both mainstream Islamic deeds-weighed mercy and Kashmir Shaivism’s shaktipat, exactly as required for Romans 4:4-5/11:5-6.
Righteousness
Approved rendering: راستبازی
Transliteration: rāstbāzī
Doctrine: Salvation / Assurance of Reward
Rejected alternatives: تقویٰ (piety/God-consciousness, too works-oriented)
Original: δικαιοσύνη
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Underlies both ‘training in righteousness’ (3:16) and ‘crown of righteousness’ (4:8); must retain its forensic, received sense in both places, never collapsing into disciplined-piety achievement.
Justification
Approved rendering: راستباز ٹھہرایہ گیہ
Transliteration: rāstbāz ṭharāyi gyi
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: معافی (forgiveness alone, too narrow)
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Not directly used in 2 Timothy’s surface text but retained in translation memory since it underlies the forensic logic assumed by 3:15’s ‘salvation through faith’ and 4:8’s ‘crown of righteousness.‘
Salvation
Approved rendering: نجات
Transliteration: najāt
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: جنت (paradise as a destination, never a stand-alone gloss), موکش (moksha-style liberation, never use for Kashmir Shaivite readers), پرتیبھِجنا (pratyabhijna, never use as a substitute)
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Occurs at 2:10 and 3:15 (‘wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus’); must resist both the Islamic deeds-weighing paradise framework and the Kashmir Shaivite pratyabhijna framework, addressed as two distinct errors.
Apostle
Approved rendering: رسول
Transliteration: rasūl
Doctrine: Apostleship
Rejected alternatives: پیغمبر (prophet, a distinct office, avoid conflating)
Original: ἀπόστολος
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Paul’s self-identification ‘apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God’ opens the letter (1:1); must state plainly at first use that this names a distinct New Testament sent-ministry office, not a claim to Muhammad’s specific title (‘Rasulullah’).
Resurrection
Approved rendering: مُردٕن پؠٹھ زندٕ تھِیُن
Transliteration: murdan pyeṭh zinda thyun
Doctrine: The Resurrection of Christ
Original: ἀνάστασις
Category: Eschatology
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Occurs at 2:8 (‘Jesus Christ, raised from the dead’) and 2:18, where Hymenaeus and Philetus falsely teach ‘the resurrection has already happened’ — an in-text case study of doctrinal distortion of this Critical term, structurally similar in seriousness to (but distinct from) mainstream Sunni interpretation of Quran 4:157 denying the crucifixion occurred at all.
Lord
Approved rendering: خُداوند
Transliteration: Khudāwand
Doctrine: The Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: مالِک (owner/master, reserve for ordinary human authority contexts)
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. The most frequent Critical-risk term in 2 Timothy (1:2, 1:8, 1:16, 1:18, 2:7, 2:14, 2:19, 2:22, 2:24, 4:8, 4:14, 4:17, 4:18, 4:22); never softened toward a venerated Sufi master (pir).
Jesus
Approved rendering: یِسوع
Transliteration: Yisū’
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: عیسیٰ (the Quranic form, reserve only for explicit interfaith-dialogue contexts)
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Used throughout 2 Timothy; never عیسیٰ.
Messiah
Approved rendering: مسیح
Transliteration: Masīḥ
Doctrine: Messianic Promise
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Used throughout 2 Timothy alongside یِسوع; shared Quranic title (al-Masih) whose content must be explicitly redefined per book.
Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: پاک روح
Transliteration: pāk rūḥ
Doctrine: Faithful Transmission of the Gospel
Rejected alternatives: روح القدس (Ruh al-Qudus, never use interchangeably without explicit distinction)
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Occurs at 1:14 (‘guard the good deposit through the Holy Spirit’); never bare روح القدس, which mainstream Islamic exegesis commonly identifies with the angel Gabriel.
God Breathed
Approved rendering: خُدا سٟتی الہام آمت
Transliteration: Khudā sātī ilhām āmat
Doctrine: Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture
Rejected alternatives: bare الہام without the explicit ‘from God’ qualifier (ranks below Quranic wahy in mainstream Islamic revelatory theology and is also claimed by Sufi saints as a lesser mystical-inspiration category, never use unqualified)
Original: θεόπνευστος
Category: Scripture
NEW, TOP-PRIORITY theologian review. Occurs at 3:16. This rendering must always appear in full and must be taught as claiming a direct, unique divine origination for the biblical text — never a status subordinate to Quranic wahy, and never equivalent to a Rishi-tradition saint’s personal ilham experience.
Judge Living And Dead
Approved rendering: زندہ تہٕ مُردہ ہٕنٛدِ عدالت کرنہ وول
Transliteration: zinda tē murda handi ‘adālat karun wol
Doctrine: The Deity and Judgeship of Christ
Original: ὁ μέλλων κρίνειν ζῶντας καὶ νεκρούς
Category: Christology
NEW, Critical. Occurs at 4:1. Asserts Christ’s unique divine judgment prerogative; final judgment belongs to God alone in both Islamic and biblical theology, here exercised by Christ Jesus personally — must be stated plainly, never softened.
Christs Appearing
Approved rendering: مسیحُک ظاہر گژھُن
Transliteration: Masīhuk zāhir gachhun
Doctrine: Christ’s Return and Appearing
Rejected alternatives: ظہور (zuhūr, NEVER use — the specific Islamic, especially Shi’a-influenced popular, term for the Mahdi’s awaited eschatological reappearance)
Original: ἐπιφάνεια
Category: Eschatology
NEW, TOP-PRIORITY theologian review. Occurs at 4:1, 4:8. Mainstream Islamic eschatology separately expects Isa’s own return specifically to affirm Islam, break crosses, and defeat the Dajjal — a narrative in direct theological conflict with this passage’s picture of Christ Jesus returning as universal judge and king in his own unique authority; must be taught into directly.
Preach The Word
Approved rendering: خُدایُک کلام مُنادی کر
Transliteration: Khudāyuk kalām munādī kar
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Original: κήρυξον τὸν λόγον
Category: Ministry
NEW, Critical. Occurs at 4:2 (cf. 2:9). کلام shares its root with Kalamullah (‘the Word/Speech of God,’ applied specifically to the Quran) and ‘Ilm al-Kalam (Islamic systematic theology); must be taught explicitly as naming the apostolic gospel of the crucified and risen Christ Jesus, not a rival scripture-claim measured against the Quran.
Sound Doctrine
Approved rendering: تندرست تعلیم
Transliteration: tandurust ta’līm
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Rejected alternatives: عقیدہ (aqīda, NEVER use — the standard Islamic term for formal creed, would imply a competing creedal system weighed against Islamic aqīda formulations)
Original: ἡ ὑγιαίνουσα διδασκαλία
Category: Doctrine
NEW, Critical, central to Guarding Sound Doctrine. Occurs at 4:3. Preserves Paul’s own medical ‘healthy/whole’ metaphor instead of a creed-vs-creed framing.
Truth
Approved rendering: سچائی
Transliteration: sachā’ī
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Rejected alternatives: حق (Haqq, NEVER use as the primary term — a traditional Islamic divine name and the substance of ultimate divine Reality in Sufi ‘Ana’l-Haqq’ and Kashmir Shaivite non-dual ontology)
Original: ἀλήθεια
Category: Doctrine
NEW, Critical. Occurs at 2:15, 2:18, 2:25, 3:7, 3:8, 4:4. سچائی avoids implying ‘truth’ is an invitation to mystical union with Reality-as-such rather than revealed, propositional truth about Christ to be believed and defended.
Deposit
Approved rendering: امانت
Transliteration: amānat
Doctrine: Faithful Transmission of the Gospel
Original: παραθήκη
Category: Doctrine
NEW, TOP-PRIORITY theologian review. Occurs at 1:12, 1:14, 2:2. امانت is a major Quranic and Islamic ethical-theological term (Q33:72’s cosmic Trust; a hadith naming amānah’s loss a sign of the approaching Hour); must always appear with an explicit qualifying clause specifying the apostolic gospel of the crucified, risen, and returning Christ Jesus, transmitted through a specific chain (Paul to Timothy to faithful men), never left as the bare, general cosmic-ethical trust of Quranic anthropology.
The Good Fight
Approved rendering: اَچھی مقابلہ
Transliteration: achhī muqābala
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Rejected alternatives: جہاد (jihād, FORBIDDEN — NEVER use under any circumstance)
Original: ὁ καλὸς ἀγών
Category: Suffering
NEW, CRITICAL FORBIDDEN SUBSTITUTION. Occurs at 2:5 and 4:7. جہاد must never be used: it is a major, specific Islamic theological term spanning inner moral struggle and armed struggle, and given Kashmir’s decades of armed conflict it carries acute, currently-live political and security connotations that would be dangerously misleading if applied to a Christian discipleship metaphor. مقابلہ (a religiously-neutral athletic/competition term) is required instead.
Crown Of Righteousness
Approved rendering: راستبازیہ ہنٛز تاج
Transliteration: rāstbāzī hunz tāj
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Original: ὁ τῆς δικαιοσύνης στέφανος
Category: Reward
NEW, Critical, anchor term for Assurance of Reward. Occurs at 4:8. Because Paul grounds this reward in having ‘fought,’ ‘finished,’ and ‘kept’ (completed faithful action), this carries real risk of being reheard within a deeds-weighing framework similar to the Islamic ajr (deeds-based heavenly reward) system; must be taught explicitly that this reward crowns a faithfulness that itself springs from grace already given (cf. 1:9), never an independent merit ledger.
Repentance
Approved rendering: توبہ
Transliteration: tauba
Doctrine: Repentance Leading to Full Knowledge of the Truth
Original: μετάνοια
Category: Salvation
NEW, Critical. Occurs at 2:25. توبہ is a central, heavily emphasized Islamic theological term — turning back to God from sin, tied to Allah’s mercy within a deeds-and-repentance framework, without an atonement mechanism; must be taught as repentance leading specifically to trusting Christ’s finished atoning work, paralleling the required explicit object for faith.
Full Knowledge Of The Truth
Approved rendering: سچائی ہنٛز پوری پہچان
Transliteration: sachā’ī hunz pūrī pahchān
Doctrine: Repentance Leading to Full Knowledge of the Truth
Original: ἐπίγνωσις ἀληθείας
Category: Salvation
NEW, Critical, distinct-audience risk. Occurs at 2:25, 3:7. پہچان risks being reheard by a Trika-shaped (Kashmir Shaivite) reader as pratyabhijna, the self-recognition of one’s own innate Shiva-consciousness/divinity — an epistemic self-realization rather than acknowledgment of external revealed truth about a distinct personal God; this is a separate risk from توبہ’s Islamic-mercy-framework risk and must be taught separately, per audience.
Rightly Handling Word Of Truth
Approved rendering: سچ کلام سیدھی طرحہ بیان کرنہ
Transliteration: sach kalām sīdhī tarahan bayān karun
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: ὀρθοτομέω
Category: Doctrine
NEW, Critical. Occurs at 2:15. Builds on the Critical کلام and سچائی collision risks noted elsewhere; must not be reduced to a legalistic fiqh/tafsir-style rule-parsing methodology, but names Spirit-guided, apostolic-gospel-centered accurate exposition.
Last Days
Approved rendering: آخری دۄہ
Transliteration: ākhrī dōh
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: ἐν ἐσχάταις ἡμέραις
Category: Eschatology
NEW, TOP-PRIORITY theologian review. Occurs at 3:1, anchor term for Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days. آخر directly invokes the extensive Islamic eschatological framework of Akhirah, Yaum al-Qiyamah, and popular signs-of-the-Hour eschatology (Dajjal, Mahdi, and Isa’s expected return specifically to affirm Islam, break crosses, and slay the Dajjal); must state explicitly that this names the apostles’ own church-age warning culminating in Christ’s return as universal judge (4:1), directly contradicting the Islamic Isa-returns-to-affirm-Islam narrative, never assumed as shared background.
Persecution
Approved rendering: ظُلم / ستم
Transliteration: zulm / sitam
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: διωγμός
Category: Suffering
NEW, requires the greatest pastoral sensitivity of any term in this book. Occurs at 3:11-12. Given Kashmir’s decades-long, still-live conflict, in which ظُلم/سِتم vocabulary is already deeply embedded in the region’s own political and communal suffering narratives, must teach Paul’s specific meaning (opposition arising because of gospel proclamation and sound doctrine) without minimizing the region’s real suffering or allowing readers to import an unrelated political-communal narrative wholesale onto this text.
High Risk Terms
Gospel
Approved rendering: انجیل
Transliteration: Injīl
Doctrine: Gospel
Rejected alternatives: اچھی خبر (a plain descriptive gloss, acceptable only as an explanatory aside)
Original: εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. In 2 Timothy occurs at 1:8, 1:10, 2:8, 4:5, where Paul is ‘not ashamed’ of it and suffers for it; the shared Quranic Injil/tahrif association still requires that this curriculum present the New Testament gospel’s actual content (the crucified, risen, returning Christ) rather than assume the shared word carries it by default.
Faith
Approved rendering: ایمان
Transliteration: īmān
Doctrine: Saving Faith in Christ
Rejected alternatives: یقین (certainty/conviction, too intellectual/impersonal alone)
Original: πίστις
Category: Faith
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Occurs at 1:5, 1:13, 2:18, 2:22, 3:8, 3:10, 3:15, 4:7. The object of faith (‘in Christ Jesus,’ 3:15) must remain explicit throughout, since ایمان by Islamic default names confessional submission to Allah and his messengers as a system.
Glory
Approved rendering: جلال
Transliteration: jalāl
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: δόξα
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Occurs at 2:10 and in the closing doxology of 4:18; kept anchored to Christ’s own self-existent glory, not a free-floating divine-attribute word.
Election
Approved rendering: خُدایُک چُنٲوُن
Transliteration: Khudāyuk chunāwun
Doctrine: Effectual Calling
Rejected alternatives: قسمت (fate, echoing taqdir, use with caution)
Original: ἐκλεκτοί
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Occurs at 2:10 (‘I endure everything for the sake of the elect’).
Seed Of David
Approved rendering: داؤدَس نسلہ منٛز
Transliteration: Dā’ūdas naslah manz
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Original: σπέρμα Δαυίδ
Category: Covenant
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Occurs at 2:8 alongside ‘raised from the dead,’ compressing two Critical/High Christological claims into one clause; requires OT covenant background not assumed shared with the Quranic Dawud narrative.
God
Approved rendering: خُدا
Transliteration: Khudā
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: θεός
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Used throughout; must consistently be presented in explicitly Trinitarian, Christ-centered terms.
Power Of God
Approved rendering: خُدایُک قوت
Transliteration: Khudāyuk quwwat
Doctrine: Power of God for Salvation
Rejected alternatives: شکتی (Shakti, never use as a substitute)
Original: δύναμις
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Occurs at 1:7-8 and 3:5 (‘a form of godliness but denying its power’); never شکتی.
Sanctification
Approved rendering: پاکیزگی
Transliteration: pākīzagī
Doctrine: Sanctification
Original: ἁγιασμός (conceptual; cf. σκεῦος εἰς τιμήν, 2:21)
Category: Sanctification
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Underlies the ‘vessel for honor, set apart’ image of 2:21; distinct from ritual purification and Trika disciplines aimed at recognizing already-present purity.
Sacred Writings Scripture
Approved rendering: پاک صحیفہ
Transliteration: pāk sahīfa
Doctrine: Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture
Original: ἱερὰ γράμματα / γραφή
Category: Scripture
NEW. Occurs at 3:15-16, matching the existing baseline doctrine-name usage. صحیفہ shares its root with Islamic suhuf vocabulary (e.g., Suhuf Ibrahim); must be taught as the actual, uncorrupted Old Testament canon, not assumed automatically compatible with the Islamic tahrif (textual-corruption) framework already flagged for انجیل.
Teaching Doctrine
Approved rendering: تعلیم
Transliteration: ta’līm
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: διδασκαλία / διδαχή
Category: Doctrine
NEW. Occurs at 3:16, 3:10, 4:2, 4:3. Generic shared vocabulary (Islamic ta’lim, Sufi ta’lim networks); when qualified as ‘sound doctrine’ (4:3) must be distinguished from a comprehensive Sharia-style life-code, paralleling the baseline’s caution for شریعت.
Training In Righteousness
Approved rendering: راستبازیہ منز تربیت
Transliteration: rāstbāzī manz tarbiyat
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: παιδεία ἡ ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ
Category: Doctrine
NEW, inherits راستبازی’s Critical baseline profile. Occurs at 3:16. Must retain the forensic/received sense of righteousness even while describing ongoing training — formation flowing from an already-given righteous standing, not training that produces it.
Man Of God
Approved rendering: خُدایُک منش
Transliteration: Khudāyuk manush
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Original: ὁ τοῦ θεοῦ ἄνθρωπος
Category: Ministry
NEW. Occurs at 3:17. Risks being heard as ‘Mard-e-Khuda,’ a Perso-Urdu honorific for a spiritually elevated, often Sufi, holy man; must be taught as naming any Scripture-equipped minister/believer functionally, not a mystically elevated honorific comparable to a pir or wali.
Turn Away From Truth
Approved rendering: سچائیہ نیش رُد گژھُن
Transliteration: sachā’ī nēsh rud gachhun
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: ἀποστρέφω
Category: Apostasy
NEW. Occurs at 4:4. Conceptually adjacent to Islamic ridda/irtidad (apostasy from Islam, historically severely penalized in classical jurisprudence); must clarify the referent is turning away from the apostolic gospel of Christ specifically, not the Islamic legal category of leaving the Muslim community.
Endure Hardship
Approved rendering: تکلیف برداشت کر / تکلیف
Transliteration: takleef bardāsht kar / takleef
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: κακοπαθέω / πάθημα
Category: Suffering
NEW. Occurs at 4:5, 1:8, 2:9, 3:11. Given Kashmir’s decades-long, still-live conflict, must teach suffering specifically for gospel proclamation and sound doctrine, neither minimizing the region’s real suffering nor collapsing it into the region’s political-communal suffering narrative.
Mercy
Approved rendering: رحم
Transliteration: rahm
Doctrine: The Mercy of God
Original: ἔλεος
Category: God
NEW. Occurs at 1:2, 1:16, 1:18. رحم shares its root with the Quranic divine attributes al-Rahman/al-Rahim invoked at the head of every surah, and names mainstream Islamic soteriology’s central mercy-weighed-against-deeds framework; must be taught as Paul’s apostolic greeting-mercy flowing from an already-secured relationship in Christ (cf. 1:9), not a deeds-ledger-suspended outcome.
Love
Approved rendering: محبت
Transliteration: muhabbat
Doctrine: Godly Love versus Mystical Union-Longing
Original: ἀγάπη
Category: Sanctification
NEW. Occurs at 1:7, 2:22, 3:10. Kashmiri Sufi devotional poetry (including the Lal Ded/Lalleshwari tradition revered across Muslim and Pandit communities) is saturated with mystical love-language (ishq, muhabbat) describing the soul’s longing for union with the divine; must teach ἀγάπη as God’s self-giving covenantal love, not mystical longing for experiential union or dissolution of self into the divine.
Self Control
Approved rendering: ضبطِ نفس
Transliteration: zabt-e-nafs
Doctrine: Spirit-Given Self-Control
Original: σωφρονισμός
Category: Sanctification
NEW. Occurs at 1:7. ضبطِ نفس is itself a technical category within Sufi spiritual discipline (nafs-mortification through ascetic practice, significant within the Rishi order); must be taught as a Spirit-given gift, not a self-achieved ascetic accomplishment.
Faithful Men
Approved rendering: ایماندار منش
Transliteration: imāndār manush
Doctrine: Faithful Transmission of the Gospel
Original: πιστοὶ ἄνθρωποι
Category: Church
NEW, built on established ایمان root. Occurs at 2:2, the key verse for the multi-generation transmission chain (Paul to Timothy to faithful men to others).
Soldier
Approved rendering: سپاہی
Transliteration: sipāhī
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: στρατιώτης
Category: Suffering
NEW. Occurs at 2:3-4. Given the extraordinarily heavy, decades-long, ongoing militarized reality of life in Kashmir, this military metaphor demands acute pastoral sensitivity and must be taught explicitly and only as a metaphor, never suggesting literal militancy.
Crowned
Approved rendering: تاج پاونہ
Transliteration: tāj pāwun
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Original: στεφανοῦται
Category: Reward
NEW, links to crown_of_righteousness below. Occurs at 2:5 (‘he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules’).
Endurance
Approved rendering: صبر
Transliteration: sabr
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: ὑπομένω / ὑπομονή
Category: Suffering
NEW. Occurs at 2:10, 3:10, 3:11. صبر is among the most emphasized virtues in Quranic ethics, tied to patient endurance of trial as a mark of true faith and rewarded by Allah; must be taught as flowing from union with Christ and already-secured grace, not an independently meritorious virtue accumulating reward within a deeds-weighing framework.
Righteous Judge
Approved rendering: راستباز مُنصِف
Transliteration: rāstbāz munsif
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Original: ὁ δίκαιος κριτής
Category: Christology
NEW, built on established راستبازی root. Occurs at 4:8, paired with judge_living_and_dead as a Christological judgment claim.
Form Of Godliness
Approved rendering: دینداری ہنٛز شکل
Transliteration: dīndārī hanz shakl
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: μόρφωσις εὐσεβείας
Category: Apostasy
NEW. Occurs at 3:5. دینداری resonates strongly with Islamic ‘deendari’ (religious devoutness); must be taught as describing nominal, powerless professing-Christian religiosity specifically, never as a generic critique of Islamic religious practice as such.
Disqualified Concerning The Faith
Approved rendering: ایمانہ منز نامنظور
Transliteration: īmāna manz nāmanzūr
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: ἀδόκιμος περὶ τὴν πίστιν
Category: Doctrine
NEW, built on established ایمان root. Occurs at 3:8.
Deceiving And Being Deceived
Approved rendering: گمراہ کرنہ تہٕ گمراہ گژھنہ
Transliteration: gumrāh karun tē gumrāh gachhun
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: πλανῶντες καὶ πλανώμενοι
Category: Apostasy
NEW. Occurs at 3:13. گمراہ is a major Islamic theological term describing deviation from the ‘straight path’ (al-sirat al-mustaqim); must clarify the deviation in view is specifically from apostolic gospel truth about Christ, not deviation from Islamic orthodoxy or Sharia observance.
Medium Risk Terms
Kingdom Of God
Approved rendering: خُدایُک بادشاہت
Transliteration: Khudāyuk bādshāhat
Doctrine: Kingdom Mission
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered base pattern. See kingdom_of_christ below for this book’s adapted Christ-specific usage.
Kingdom Of Christ
Approved rendering: مسیحُک بادشاہت / آسمانی بادشاہت
Transliteration: Masīhuk bādshāhat / āsmānī bādshāhat
Doctrine: The Kingdom of Christ
Original: βασιλεία αὐτοῦ / ἐπουράνιος βασιλεία
Category: Kingdom
NEW, adapted from the baseline خُدایُک بادشاہت pattern. Occurs at 4:1 and 4:18 (‘his heavenly kingdom’). Must be explicitly distinguished from any territorial-political framing, given Kashmir’s extraordinarily sensitive, decades-long contested-sovereignty history.
Gentiles
Approved rendering: غیر-قوم
Transliteration: ghair-qaum
Doctrine: Mission to the Nations
Original: ἔθνη
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Occurs at 4:17 (‘so that… all the Gentiles might hear’).
Spiritual Gifts
Approved rendering: روحانی نعمتہ
Transliteration: rūḥānī ni’amat
Doctrine: Spiritual Gifts
Rejected alternatives: کرامت (a Sufi saint’s miraculous charism, avoid as the primary term)
Original: χάρισμα
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Occurs at 1:6 (‘rekindle the gift of God that is in you’); not an individually-venerated wali-style charism.
Peace
Approved rendering: امن
Transliteration: amn
Doctrine: Peace with God
Original: εἰρήνη
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Occurs in the greeting at 1:2; handle with the same regional-conflict sensitivity the baseline requires.
Correction
Approved rendering: اصلاح
Transliteration: islāh
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: ἐπανόρθωσις
Category: Doctrine
NEW. Occurs at 3:16. اصلاح shares its root with Islamic reform-movement vocabulary (harakat al-islah); must be taught as personal/moral correction of the individual believer, not a socio-political reform program.
Complete Equipped
Approved rendering: مکمل
Transliteration: mukammal
Doctrine: Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture
Rejected alternatives: کامل (kāmil, rejected due to ‘al-Insan al-Kamil’/Perfect Man Sufi mystical-anthropology resonance)
Original: ἄρτιος / ἐξηρτισμένος
Category: Scripture
NEW. Occurs at 3:17. مکمل is deliberately chosen over کامل, which in Sufi metaphysics names a mystical anthropology of spiritual perfection; using کامل risks implying a Scripture-formed believer attains that mystical-perfection status.
Patience Longsuffering
Approved rendering: تحمل
Transliteration: tahammul
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: μακροθυμία
Category: Doctrine
NEW. Occurs at 4:2, 3:10. Kept distinct from ὑπομονή/endurance under suffering to preserve Paul’s separate emphases.
Itching Ears
Approved rendering: نوی نوی کتھہ بوزنہ خاطرہ بے چٔین شوق
Transliteration: novī novī kath bōzun khātrē bē-cheun shauq
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: κνηθόμενοι τὴν ἀκοήν
Category: Apostasy
NEW. Occurs at 4:3. Idiom rendered by meaning rather than literal calque; must preserve the negative, self-indulgent connotation — a neutral ‘curiosity’ gloss would lose the doctrinal warning. Treat as a fixed phrase, not a free paraphrase zone.
Myths
Approved rendering: افسانہ
Transliteration: afsāna
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: μῦθοι
Category: Apostasy
NEW. Occurs at 4:4. Contrast is truth vs. fabrication, not old vs. new teaching; distinct from the genuine OT narrative background Timothy was raised on (3:15).
Evangelist
Approved rendering: انجیلہ ہنٛز مُنادی کرنہ وول
Transliteration: Injīla hanz munādī karun wol
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Original: εὐαγγελιστής
Category: Ministry
NEW. Occurs at 4:5, built on established انجیل and مُنادی roots. Genuine point of contact with Islamic da’wah/dā’ī; the content proclaimed (the crucified, risen, returning Christ Jesus) is what makes this categorically different.
Ministry Service
Approved rendering: خدمت
Transliteration: khidmat
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Original: διακονία
Category: Ministry
NEW. Occurs at 4:5. خدمت is shared with Islamic ethical/devotional vocabulary (khidmat-e-khalq, khidmat to a pir or shrine in Sufi practice); must be qualified ‘in Christ’s name’ at first occurrence to distance it from shrine-service connotations.
Immortality
Approved rendering: لافانی زندگی
Transliteration: lāfānī zindagī
Doctrine: Immortality and Eternal Life in Christ
Original: ἀφθαρσία
Category: Eschatology
NEW. Occurs at 1:10. The root فانی/فنا (fānī/fanā) names the Sufi mystical goal of self-annihilation in God (fanā fi’Allāh); its negation (lā-fānī) is linguistically natural but must be taught carefully so readers do not hear an echo of that mystical-union framework — the NT sense is bodily, personal, everlasting life, not dissolution of individual selfhood.
Herald Preacher
Approved rendering: مُنادی کرنہ وول
Transliteration: munādī karun wol
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Rejected alternatives: واعظ (wā’iz, rejected — a common word for a mosque preacher/khatib, avoid mosque-office connotation)
Original: κῆρυξ
Category: Ministry
NEW. Occurs at 1:11. Consistent with the established مُنادی family used throughout this book.
Lords Bondservant
Approved rendering: خُداوندُک بندہ
Transliteration: Khudāwanduk banda
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Original: δοῦλος κυρίου
Category: Ministry
NEW, built on established خُداوند. Occurs at 2:24. بندہ (‘banda,’ servant/slave of God) is a common, positive term in South Asian Islamic devotional identity (‘banda-e-Khuda’); must clarify this is bondservice to the Lord Jesus Christ specifically through personal union, not the broader generic Islamic submission-identity of ‘abd’ to Allah.
Godliness
Approved rendering: خُدا ترسی
Transliteration: Khudā-tarsī
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: εὐσέβεια
Category: Sanctification
NEW. Occurs at 3:5, 3:12. Shared devotional vocabulary across Islamic and Christian registers; must be taught as Spirit-empowered, Christ-centered godliness, not a generic religious-observance metric common to any tradition.
Impostor Seducer
Approved rendering: دھوکہ باز
Transliteration: dhōka-bāz
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: γόης
Category: Apostasy
NEW. Occurs at 3:13. No significant collision risk.
Drink Offering
Approved rendering: قربانیہ ہنٛز شرابہ برونہ ونہ چھُس
Transliteration: qurbānī hunz sharāba brōnh wanu chhus
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: σπένδομαι
Category: Suffering
NEW. Occurs at 4:6. A vivid OT-sacrificial-system image requiring background explanation, since it has no live cultural referent in Kashmir; not itself a cross-religious collision risk. Treat as a fixed phrase.
Proclamation
Approved rendering: مُنادی
Transliteration: munādī
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Original: κήρυγμα
Category: Ministry
NEW. Occurs at 4:17, consistent with the established مُنادی family used throughout this book (preach_the_word, herald_preacher, evangelist).
Low Risk Terms
Exhort
Approved rendering: حوصلہ دِنہ
Transliteration: ḥauslah dinah
Doctrine: Encouragement and Exhortation
Original: παρακαλέω

David
Approved rendering: داؤد
Transliteration: Dā’ūd
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Original: Δαυίδ
Category: Covenant
Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Occurs at 2:8.
Thanksgiving
Approved rendering: شکر
Transliteration: shukur
Doctrine: Thanksgiving
Original: εὐχαριστία / εὐχαριστῶ

Inherited from Romans package, unaltered. Occurs at 1:3.
Timothy
Approved rendering: تیمتھیُس
Transliteration: Tīmithiyus
Doctrine: Faithful Transmission of the Gospel
NEW proper name, the letter’s addressee throughout. Provisional transliteration; verify against a current published Kashmiri New Testament before wide deployment, per the baseline’s standing caveat.
Profitable
Approved rendering: فائدہ مند
Transliteration: fā’idah-mand
Doctrine: Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture
Original: ὠφέλιμος
Category: Scripture
NEW. Occurs at 3:16. No significant doctrinal collision risk.

Transliteration: malāmat / qusūr hāw
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: ἐλεγμός / ἔλεγξον
Category: Doctrine
NEW. Occurs at 3:16, 4:2. Should read as Scripture’s own convicting work, not a human tribunal’s condemnation.
Fulfill Ministry
Approved rendering: پوری کرنہ
Transliteration: pūrī karun
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Original: πληροφορέω
Category: Ministry
NEW. Occurs at 4:5. No significant doctrinal risk.
