Compromise and Incomplete Obedience

Even kings praised as 'doing right in the eyes of the LORD' (Asa, Jehoshaphat) are noted as failing to remove the high places -- the narrative's pattern of partial faithfulness must not be smoothed into either full praise or full condemnation.
