Messiah
Transliterated from Hebrew via the NT’s own Greek text; ‘Χριστός’ (‘Anointed One’) is the direct Greek translation and by far the more common NT and liturgical term. Both are correct; ‘Χριστός’ should be preferred in most contexts as the NT’s own overwhelming preference, with ‘Μεσσίας’ reserved for contexts specifically invoking the Hebrew messianic-promise background.
