Holy Spirit
Roho Mtakatifu is the settled Trinitarian term. roho alone is dangerously ambiguous in everyday Swahili, covering any spirit, including troubling or possessing ones; pepo specifically denotes a spirit understood to possess a person (kupagawa na pepo, spirit possession, a live traditional and Islamic-jinn-adjacent category along the coast) and mzimu denotes an ancestral spirit. Roho Mtakatifu must always be used in full, never shortened, to keep clear distance from this active traditional and folk-Islamic spirit-world vocabulary.
