Doctrine Analysis
Doctrine Analysis: 1 Corinthians — Full Book Matrix (Chapters 1–16)
Purpose
This document is the PRD Phase 1 Step 4 deliverable: a complete, chapter-by-chapter doctrine matrix for the entire book of 1 Corinthians, in the destination language Telugu. It is fully CONSISTENT with assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json — every doctrine name, risk tier, and review-routing decision below is identical to that registry; this document adds the chapter-level and passage-level texture the registry does not itself carry, plus explicit confirmation of full-book coverage per the PRD Phase 1 mandate. The core passage, 1 Corinthians 15:1-11, is the theological anchor of the curriculum, but every chapter 1–16 is analyzed below; no chapter is silently skipped.
Risk tiers and review routing follow the baseline Romans Language Package framework exactly:
| Tier | Meaning | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|
| Critical | Mistranslation alters or destroys essential doctrine | Human theologian (every occurrence) |
| High | Significant theological confusion / syncretism / cross-denominational inconsistency risk | Human theologian |
| Medium | Reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning | Native speaker review |
| Low | Minor misunderstanding or imprecision | Automated review |
Section 1 — Baseline (Romans) Doctrines Recurring in 1 Corinthians
These doctrines are already governed by the Romans baseline doctrine_risk_registry.json and translation_memory.json. Their tiers and Telugu renderings are unchanged and authoritative; this table only records where they surface in 1 Corinthians so no chapter’s baseline-doctrine content goes unreviewed.
| Baseline Doctrine | Telugu Name | Risk (baseline) | Key 1 Corinthians Occurrences | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gospel | సువార్త | Medium | 1:17; 9:12-18; 15:1-2 | సువార్త locked; 9’s “gospel-for-free-of-charge” argument adds pastoral nuance but not new risk. |
| Grace | కృప | High | 1:3-4; 3:10; 15:10 | Feeds directly into the new doctrine “Grace and Ministry” below (15:9-10 paradox). |
| Faith | విశ్వాసం | Medium | 2:5; 12:9; 13:2,13; 15:14,17 | విశ్వాసం locked; 13:13 places faith alongside hope/love. |
| Righteousness | నీతి | High | 1:30 | Christ “became… our righteousness” — tie to imputed-righteousness Critical-tier logic. |
| Justification | నీతిమంతులుగా తీర్చడం | High | 6:11 | Paired with sanctification in the “you were washed, sanctified, justified” triad. |
| Salvation | రక్షణ | Critical | 1:18,21; 3:15; 5:5; 15:2 | రక్షణ locked; never మోక్షం/ముక్తి; 15:2’s conditional clause requires theologian care. |
| Called / Calling | పిలువబడిన / పిలుపు | Medium/High | 1:1-2,9,24,26; 7:15-24 | Context-sensitive per baseline note; recurs heavily in ch.7’s marriage material. |
| Holy / Sanctification | పరిశుద్ధ / పరిశుద్ధపరచడం | High | 1:2; 3:17; 6:11,19; 7:14 | Locked వocabulary; underlies “Church as Temple” and “Redemption/Belonging” doctrines below. |
| Saints | పరిశుద్ధులు | Medium | 1:2; 6:1-2; 16:1,15 | Corporate designation; recurs at the letter’s bookends. |
| Church | సంఘము | High | 1:2; 4:17; 6:4; 10:32; 11:18,22; 12:28; 14:4-35; 15:9; 16:1,19 | సంఘము locked throughout; foundational to nearly every ecclesiological doctrine in this book. |
| Kingdom of God | దేవుని రాజ్యం | Medium | 4:20; 6:9-10; 15:24,50 | Recurs at both an ethical (ch.6) and eschatological (ch.15) register. |
| Power of God | దేవుని సామర్థ్యం | High | 1:18,24; 2:5; 4:20; 6:14; 12:10,28-29; 15:43 | Never శక్తి; especially tempting in ch.12’s “workings of powers.” |
| Lordship of Christ | ప్రభువు / క్రీస్తు ప్రభుత్వం | Critical | 1:2-3,9-10; 8:6; 12:3; 15:31,57-58 | 12:3’s “Jesus is Lord” (యేసు ప్రభువు) MUST match Romans 10:9 verbatim. |
| Holy Spirit | పరిశుద్ధాత్మ | Critical | 2:10-14; 3:16; 6:11,19; 12:3-13 | Never పరమాత్మ/పవిత్రాత్మ; central to “Church as Temple” and “Spiritual Gifts” doctrines. |
| Father | తండ్రి | Critical | 1:3; 8:6 | Recurs in Pauline greeting formula and the Shema-echoing 8:6. |
| Election | దేవుని ఏర్పాటు | High | 1:26-28 | God’s sovereign choice of “what is low and despised” — feeds “Grace and Ministry.” |
| Israel | ఇశ్రాయేలు | Medium | 10:18 | Typological reference within idolatry-warning passage. |
| Fellowship | సహవాసం | Low | 1:9; 10:16-20 | Shared participation; also anchors “table of the Lord / table of demons” contrast. |
| Spiritual Gifts | ఆత్మీయ వరములు | Medium (baseline) / High (extended, see Section 2) | 1:7; 12:1-31; 14:1-40 | Baseline tier Medium; this curriculum’s extended doctrine below raises functional risk to High given ch.12/14 depth. |
Section 2 — Chapter-by-Chapter Doctrine Matrix
Chapter 1 (1 Corinthians 1:1-31)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apostolic Tradition and Authority | 1:1 | High | అపొస్తలుడు’s delegated, sent authority must not collapse into a self-appointed teaching role. | Human theologian |
| Christian Unity versus Factionalism | 1:10-17 | High | చీలికలు must convey real fracture, not mere “differing opinions”; Cephas/Paul/Apollos party-loyalty mirrors live Telugu denominational-loyalty risk. | Human theologian |
| Cross as Wisdom and Power | 1:18-25 | High | జ్ఞానం must anchor to the crucified Christ, resisting drift toward a generic path-of-enlightenment reading. | Human theologian |
| Grace and Ministry (Grace vs. Merit) | 1:26-31 | High | ”Not many wise… not many powerful” grounds all boasting in God alone, not human status — must preserve the contrast. | Human theologian |
| Baptism and Church Unity | 1:13-17 | High | Baptism-into-factional-loyalty (“I baptized in my own name”) must not be softened; బాప్తిస్మము denotes real Christian identification, not a name-loyalty ritual. | Human theologian |
Chapter 2 (1 Corinthians 2:1-16)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cross as Wisdom and Power | 2:1-5 | High | Paul’s deliberate rejection of rhetorical/philosophical persuasion in favor of “the Spirit’s power” must retain the contrast with human eloquence. | Human theologian |
| God’s Hidden Wisdom Revealed (Mystery) | 2:6-16 | High | రహస్యం must read as truth God has now openly disclosed through the Spirit to all believers, not an esoteric teaching for an initiated elite (a live risk given regional guru-disciple hidden-knowledge traditions). Also introduces సహజ మనుష్యుడు (natural person) vs. ఆత్మసంబంధి (spiritual person) distinction. | Human theologian |
Chapter 3 (1 Corinthians 3:1-23)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Christian Unity versus Factionalism | 3:1-9 | High | శరీరసంబంధి (“carnal/fleshly”) describes immaturity/worldliness among believers, not gross sin or a body-negative dualism. | Human theologian |
| The Church as the Temple of God | 3:9-17 | High | దేవుని ఆలయము must stay distinct from unqualified దేవాలయం (default Hindu temple sense); the OT-temple-sanctity echo, applied corporately to the congregation, must be preserved. | Human theologian |
| Judgment and Accountability in Ministry | 3:10-15 | High | తీర్పు must denote a personal God’s evaluative verdict on ministry-quality, not an impersonal karmic ledger. | Human theologian |
| Grace and Ministry | 3:5-9 | High | Paul and Apollos as “servants,” God alone giving growth — grace, not human effort, is the ground of ministry fruit. | Human theologian |
Chapter 4 (1 Corinthians 4:1-21)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apostolic Tradition and Authority | 4:1-2 | High | నిర్వాహకుడు (“steward”) frames apostolic ministry as entrusted, accountable stewardship of “the mysteries of God,” not autonomous authority. | Human theologian |
| Judgment and Accountability in Ministry | 4:1-5 | High | ”It is the Lord who judges me” — తీర్పు again must retain personal-God agency, resisting fatalistic drift. | Human theologian |
| Grace and Ministry | 4:6-7 | High | ”What do you have that you did not receive?” — direct grace-vs-boasting rhetorical question; the contrast must not be flattened. | Human theologian |
Chapter 5 (1 Corinthians 5:1-13)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Church Discipline and Holiness | 5:1-13 | High | సాతానుకు అప్పగించుట must preserve redemptive-corrective intent, not merely punitive abandonment; సాతాను stays personal/subordinate/defeated, not one pole of an equal dualism. | Human theologian |
| Christ Our Passover and Atonement | 5:6-8 | Critical | పులిసిన పిండి / పస్కా typology requires OT Passover background with no local-festival equivalence implied; Christ as the true Passover lamb must be unambiguous. | Human theologian |
Chapter 6 (1 Corinthians 6:1-20)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Redemption and Belonging to God | 6:11, 6:19-20 | Critical | విమోచన (“bought with a price”) must denote costly deliverance secured by Christ, never a merit-based release from a cosmic cycle — same forbidden-substitution logic as రక్షణ. | Human theologian |
| Sexual Purity and the Body as Temple | 6:12-20 | High | దేవుని ఆలయము applied to the individual believer’s body; must not collapse into unqualified దేవాలయం. వ్యభిచారం must not be euphemized. | Human theologian |
| (Baseline) Justification / Sanctification | 6:9-11 | High (baseline) | “Washed, sanctified, justified” triad — full baseline term set applies together in one verse; internal consistency required. | Human theologian |
Chapter 7 (1 Corinthians 7:1-40)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marriage and Singleness | 7:1-40 | Medium | వివాహం and అవివాహితులు (unmarried) both presented as good, God-given callings without hierarchy; guard against reading అవివాహితులు through an ascetic-renunciate (sannyasa-adjacent) lens. | Native speaker review |
| Christian Identity Transcending Social Status | 7:17-24 | Medium | సున్నతి and దాసుడు/స్వతంత్రుడు “count for nothing” before God — దాసుడు’s positive cross-religious devotional connotation (“servant of God”) needs contextual clarity so the social-equality point is not lost. | Native speaker review |
Chapter 8 (1 Corinthians 8:1-13)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Christian Liberty and Idol Meat | 8:1-13 | Critical | విగ్రహం names actively-worshipped regional devotional images; విగ్రహాలకు అర్పించిన పదార్థములు must NEVER be rendered ప్రసాదం (which would invert Paul’s caution into an endorsement). మనస్సాక్షి (conscience) and అభ్యంతరం (stumbling block) govern the love-limits-liberty argument. | Human theologian |
Chapter 9 (1 Corinthians 9:1-27)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apostolic Tradition and Authority | 9:1-2 | High | Paul’s defense of his apostleship and rights (అధికారం) grounds ministerial authority in commission, not self-assertion. | Human theologian |
| Christian Liberty and Idol Meat (rights voluntarily forgone) | 9:12-23 | Critical | స్వాతంత్ర్యం/అధికారం voluntarily set aside for the gospel’s sake — same liberty vocabulary as ch.8/10; must show liberty freely self-limited, not liberty denied. | Human theologian |
| Grace and Ministry | 9:15-18 | High | Preaching “free of charge” as a grace-response, not merit-earning; ties to baseline grace-vs-works validation rule. | Human theologian |
| (Anticipatory) Resurrection of Believers | 9:24-27 | Medium (introductory imagery only; full doctrine tier Critical at ch.15) | అక్షయమైన కిరీటం (“imperishable crown”) previews ch.15’s ἄφθαρτος vocabulary; note the connection for translator consistency but do not treat ch.9 alone as requiring Critical-tier review. | Native speaker review |
Chapter 10 (1 Corinthians 10:1-33)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Idolatry and Exclusive Spiritual Loyalty | 10:1-22 | Critical | Israel’s wilderness idolatry as typological warning; the mutually exclusive “Lord’s table”/“table of demons” (ప్రభువు బల్లపీట / దయ్యముల బల్లపీట) framing must hold విగ్రహారాధన as a real, present danger. దయ్యములు stays within biblical demonology, not regional folk-spirit categories. | Human theologian |
| Christian Liberty and Idol Meat | 10:23-33 | Critical | ”Whatever is sold in the meat market” — practical liberty guidance built on ch.8’s principles; same ప్రసాదం forbidden-substitution rule applies. | Human theologian |
| Baptism and Church Unity | 10:1-2 | High | Israel’s Red Sea “baptism” (typological use) must not blur the reader’s understanding of బాప్తిస్మము’s proper NT covenantal sense. | Human theologian |
| Fulfillment of Scripture (typology) | 10:1-11 | Medium | దృష్టాంతం (type/example) requires OT-NT typological correspondence to be taught, not assumed. | Native speaker review |
Chapter 11 (1 Corinthians 11:1-34)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gender Order in Worship | 11:2-16 | High | శిరస్సు (headship) and ముసుగు (head covering) must be rendered literally without resolving the authority-versus-source exegetical debate; avoid importing sari-pallu-style regional head-covering customs’ independent social meanings. | Human theologian |
| Christian Unity versus Factionalism | 11:17-19 | High | Divisions surfacing specifically “when you come together” at the Table — same చీలికలు term as ch.1/3, now applied to worship-gathering conduct. | Human theologian |
| The Lord’s Supper | 11:17-34 | Critical | ప్రభువు రాత్రి భోజనం locked as the single cross-denominational term. శరీరం/రక్తం must preserve sacrificial/covenantal meaning without prasadam-adjacent or purely symbolic flattening. శరీరాన్ని వివేచించుట (“discerning the body”) is an interpretive crux requiring theologian review. | Human theologian |
Chapter 12 (1 Corinthians 12:1-31)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spiritual Gifts and the Body of Christ | 12:1-31 | High | సామర్థ్య కార్యములు (“workings of powers”) is the single point in the letter most tempting toward the forbidden శక్తి; స్వస్థతల వరములు (healing gifts) must stay distinct from regional folk-healer practice. | Human theologian |
| (Baseline) Lordship of Christ | 12:3 | Critical (baseline) | “Jesus is Lord” (యేసు ప్రభువు) — must match Romans 10:9’s rendering verbatim; no denomination-specific variant permitted. | Human theologian |
| Christian Unity versus Factionalism | 12:12-27 | High | ఒకే శరీరం, అనేక అవయవాలు (one body, many members) reinforces unity-amid-diversity against factional hierarchy among gift-bearers. | Human theologian |
Chapter 13 (1 Corinthians 13:1-13)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Love as the Greater Way | 13:1-13 | Critical | ప్రేమ carries overwhelming contemporary romantic-love association via Telugu cinema — the strongest single competing-association risk in the book. Must be framed consistently as selfless, covenantal, patient, others-oriented love across the whole chapter, reviewed as a unit, not verse-by-verse. | Human theologian |
Chapter 14 (1 Corinthians 14:1-40)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Order in Worship | 14:1-40 | High | మర్యాదగా, క్రమముగా (“decently and in order”) is the chapter’s governing principle over both tongues/prophecy and gender-order material. | Human theologian |
| Discernment of Spiritual Manifestations | 14:1-33 | High | భాషలు (tongues) must be distinguished from trance/possession-based ecstatic speech associated with certain regional village-goddess ritual contexts; the biblical gift is Spirit-given and orderly, not uncontrolled trance. | Human theologian |
| Gender Order in Worship | 14:34-35 | High | మౌనంగా ఉండవలెను (“women keep silence”) must be rendered literally without resolving the underlying interpretive debate; same sensitivity tier as 11:2-16. | Human theologian |
Chapter 15 (1 Corinthians 15:1-58) — CORE PASSAGE CHAPTER
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Resurrection of Christ | 15:1-11, 15:20 | Critical | పునరుత్థానం (never పునర్జన్మ) for a one-time bodily event; కనబడెను (“appeared”) must denote objective, historical, eyewitness verification — never a darśanam-style devotional-vision framing, a live category in regional temple-image “seeing” practice. This is the theological anchor of the entire curriculum. | Human theologian |
| The Resurrection of Believers | 15:12-58 | Critical | ఆత్మసంబంధమైన శరీరం / సహజ శరీరం and అమరత్వం must not imply ఆత్మ dissolving into పరమాత్మ, nor an amṛta/moksha-style disembodied immortality; Paul teaches real, transformed, individually embodied, everlasting existence. | Human theologian |
| Apostolic Tradition and Authority | 15:1-11 | High | అందుకొనుట/అప్పగించుట (“received”/“delivered”) is the technical fixed-deposit-of-teaching pairing on which the whole chapter’s historicity argument rests — must read as authoritative transmission through named eyewitnesses, not personal opinion or evolving oral tradition. | Human theologian |
| Christ Our Passover and Atonement | 15:3 | Critical | ”Christ died for our sins” (కొరకు) must preserve substitutionary/vicarious force, not merely “because of” or an exemplary-death reading. | Human theologian |
| Fulfillment of Scripture | 15:3-4 | Medium | ”According to the Scriptures” — లేఖనములు anchors the resurrection claim in prior revelation; linear historical fulfillment, comparatively lower syncretism risk given Telugu’s settled prophecy-fulfillment teaching tradition. | Native speaker review |
| Grace and Ministry | 15:9-10 | High | Paul’s central grace-and-labor paradox — “by the grace of God I am what I am… I worked harder than any of them” — grace produces real labor yet never becomes the ground of standing; parallels Romans 4:4-5/11:5-6. | Human theologian |
| (Baseline) Salvation | 15:1-2 | Critical (baseline) | “By this gospel you are saved” (రక్షణ) — conditional clause (“if you hold fast”) requires careful handling so as not to imply salvation-by-works nor undercut assurance. | Human theologian |
Chapter 16 (1 Corinthians 16:1-24)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Church Fellowship and Mutual Care | 16:1-24 | Low | విరాళము సేకరణ (collection), పరిశుద్ధమైన అభివందనం (holy kiss, cultural-adaptation not doctrinal), మరానాతా (transliterated liturgical formula), సహోదరులు — standard, well-established, low-risk closing vocabulary. | Automated review |
| (Note) Church Discipline and Holiness | 16:22 | High (baseline entry) | శపింపబడును (“anathema/accursed”) — must retain full severity of the closing warning; do not soften. | Human theologian |

Section 4 — Full-Book Coverage Confirmation
Every chapter of 1 Corinthians (1–16) has been reviewed above. No chapter is silently omitted:
- Chapters with dense, multi-doctrine load: 1, 3, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15 (the core passage’s chapter).
- Chapters carrying a single dominant doctrine, reviewed in full: 2 (wisdom/mystery), 4 (stewardship/judgment), 5 (discipline/Passover typology), 7 (marriage/singleness), 8 (idol meat), 13 (love), 16 (fellowship/closing).
- No chapter contributes zero doctrinal content in this curriculum’s ten-doctrine scope; every chapter is therefore represented with at least one doctrine-and-passage entry above, consistent with the PRD Phase 1 full-book-coverage mandate.
This document extends, and is fully consistent with, assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json and the baseline Romans doctrine_risk_registry.json/translation_memory.json. It must be loaded alongside analysis/08_core_glossary.md before Phase 2 translation of any 1 Corinthians material begins.
Critical Risk Doctrines
The Resurrection of Christ
Telugu name: క్రీస్తు పునరుత్థానం
Key terms: resurrection, appeared_resurrection, received_delivered_tradition, scriptures, christ_title_name
Review routing: Human theologian
The core passage’s entire argument rests on Christ’s bodily, historical, multiply-witnessed resurrection using పునరుత్థానం (never పునర్జన్మ, which reads as a turn of a rebirth cycle) and కనబడెను for ‘appeared’ (never a darśanam-style devotional-vision framing, a live category in Telugu religious life where a deity’s image is ‘seen’ by a devotee). Any softening of the appearance-verb toward a subjective-vision reading would undermine the chapter’s eyewitness-verification argument.
The Resurrection of Believers
Telugu name: విశ్వాసుల పునరుత్థానం
Key terms: spiritual_body_natural_body, imperishable_perishable, mortal_immortality, firstfruits, last_adam_first_adam, sting_of_death
Review routing: Human theologian
The resurrection-body vocabulary (ఆత్మసంబంధమైన శరీరం / సహజ శరీరం, అమరత్వం) sits directly against regional concepts of ఆత్మ (individual soul) dissolving into పరమాత్మ (universal Self) at death, and against amṛta/moksha-style disembodied immortality. Paul teaches a real, transformed, individually embodied, everlasting existence — the opposite of dissolution or escape from embodiment — and this distinction must be actively taught, not merely assumed, even in a region with a mature Christian tradition.
Redemption and Belonging to God
Telugu name: విమోచన మరియు దేవునికి చెందిన స్థితి
Key terms: redemption_bought_with_a_price, temple_of_god, sanctification, justification
Review routing: Human theologian
విమోచన must denote a costly deliverance secured by Christ’s payment on the believer’s behalf, never a merit-based release from a cosmic rebirth cycle — the same forbidden-substitution logic that governs రక్షణ in the baseline applies with equal force here, since ‘bought with a price’ is the direct ground for chapter 6’s sexual-ethics argument.
Christian Liberty and Idol Meat
Telugu name: క్రైస్తవ స్వాతంత్ర్యం మరియు విగ్రహాలకు అర్పించిన ఆహారం
Key terms: idol, food_offered_to_idols, conscience, liberty_rights, stumbling_block, knowledge_gnosis
Review routing: Human theologian
This is the single highest live syncretism risk in the entire letter. విగ్రహం names the same consecrated devotional images actively worshipped daily across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (e.g. Tirupati); విగ్రహాలకు అర్పించిన పదార్థములు must never be rendered ప్రసాదం, the positive Hindu term for a deity’s blessed, returned offering (famously the Tirupati laddu), which would completely invert Paul’s cautionary argument. Every occurrence requires human theologian review without exception.
Idolatry and Exclusive Spiritual Loyalty
Telugu name: విగ్రహారాధన మరియు ఏకైక ఆత్మీయ భక్తి
Key terms: idolatry, demons, lords_table_table_of_demons, type_example
Review routing: Human theologian
Israel’s golden-calf idolatry as a typological warning, and the mutually exclusive ‘Lord’s table’/‘table of demons’ framing, both require the reader to hold విగ్రహారాధన as a real, present danger rather than an ancient-only category — a claim needing careful, non-alarmist but doctrinally clear handling given the region’s active image-worship. దయ్యములు must stay within biblical demonology, not merge with the broader, morally ambiguous regional folk-spirit category (bhūtas, pisācas).
The Lord’s Supper
Telugu name: ప్రభువు రాత్రి భోజనం
Key terms: lords_supper, body_and_blood, new_covenant, remembrance, unworthily, discerning_the_body
Review routing: Human theologian
శరీరం/రక్తం must preserve real sacrificial and covenantal meaning without inviting confusion with unrelated ritual-offering/prasadam categories, and without flattening to a merely symbolic-only reading that would misrepresent traditions within Telugu Christianity (Catholic, Lutheran, and others) holding a stronger sacramental view. ప్రభువు రాత్రి భోజనం is locked as the single cross-denominational liturgical term throughout this curriculum, matching the baseline’s holy/church consistency-lock pattern.
Love as the Greater Way
Telugu name: ప్రేమ - శ్రేష్ఠమైన మార్గం
Key terms: love_agape, spiritual_gifts, knowledge_gnosis
Review routing: Human theologian
ప్రేమ is overwhelmingly associated with romantic love in contemporary Telugu popular culture, especially cinema — a stronger and more pervasive competing association than any single doctrinal term collision elsewhere in this book. This is the curriculum’s central doctrine and must be treated with the same theologian-level review as any Critical-tier Christological term, framing agapē consistently as selfless, covenantal, patient, others-oriented love throughout the whole chapter, not merely at isolated verses.
Christ Our Passover and Atonement
Telugu name: మన పస్కాగా క్రీస్తు - పరిహారం
Key terms: passover_typological, leaven, sin, christ_title_name
Review routing: Human theologian
1 Cor 15:3’s ‘Christ died for our sins’ (కొరకు, ‘on behalf of/for’) and 5:7’s Passover typology both require the substitutionary, vicarious force of the atonement to be preserved — not merely ‘because of’ or an exemplary-death reading — and require OT Passover-narrative background with no local festival equivalence implied, paralleling the Critical tier the baseline assigns to imputed righteousness and Christ’s death for sin in Romans.
High Risk Doctrines
Christian Unity versus Factionalism
Telugu name: క్రైస్తవ ఐక్యత మరియు వర్గీయత
Key terms: divisions_factions, strife_quarreling, one_body_many_members, body_of_christ, cephas_peter
Review routing: Human theologian
చీలికలు must not be softened toward mere ‘differences of opinion’; Telugu Christianity’s own multiple long-established denominations (Baptist, Lutheran, CSI, Catholic, independent) make this doctrine pastorally live rather than merely historical — factional loyalty to a preferred denominational tradition over Christ mirrors precisely the Corinthian error Paul confronts.
The Cross as Wisdom and Power
Telugu name: సిలువ - జ్ఞానం మరియు సామర్థ్యం
Key terms: wisdom, foolishness, cross, power_of_god, signs
Review routing: Human theologian
జ్ఞానం (σοφία) is the same term that names Advaita Vedanta’s jñāna-mārga, the path of self-realized knowledge toward moksha — a live philosophical framework, not a dead historical one, in Telugu-speaking regions. Every occurrence must anchor జ్ఞానం to God’s specific wisdom revealed in the crucified Christ, never to a generic path of enlightenment. దేవుని సామర్థ్యం (never శక్తి) must also be held consistently here, since the passage explicitly names the cross itself as God’s power.
God’s Hidden Wisdom Now Revealed (Mystery)
Telugu name: దేవుని రహస్య జ్ఞానం బహిర్గతం
Key terms: mystery, spiritual_person_gift, natural_soulish_person, knowledge_gnosis
Review routing: Human theologian
రహస్యం must be framed as truth God has now openly disclosed to all believers through the gospel and the Spirit, not an esoteric teaching reserved for an initiated elite — a distinction with real pastoral weight given regional guru-disciple traditions of selectively transmitted hidden knowledge.
Grace as the Ground of Ministry (Grace versus Merit)
Telugu name: పరిచర్యకు ఆధారమైన కృప
Key terms: grace, boasting, election
Review routing: Human theologian
1 Cor 15:10’s paradox — grace produced real labor in Paul’s life, yet his labor never becomes the ground of his standing — parallels the baseline’s Romans 4:4-5/11:5-6 grace-merit validation rule and must receive the same theologian-level scrutiny; Telugu’s settled grace vocabulary lowers but does not eliminate risk for readers from Vaishnava/Shaiva devotional-merit backgrounds.
Church Discipline and Holiness
Telugu name: సంఘ శిక్షణ మరియు పరిశుద్ధత
Key terms: sexual_immorality, hand_over_to_satan, satan, leaven, passover_typological, anathema
Review routing: Human theologian
సాతాను must be held as a personal, subordinate, already-defeated enemy under God’s sovereignty, not one pole of an equal-and-opposite dualistic cosmic balance — a framework with some resonance in regional folk-religious thought. Discipline language (అప్పగించుట, శపింపబడును) must retain full corrective/redemptive or severe-warning force respectively, without softening.
Sexual Purity and the Body as Temple
Telugu name: శరీర పరిశుద్ధత మరియు ఆలయం
Key terms: temple_of_god, sexual_immorality, one_flesh, holy_spirit
Review routing: Human theologian
దేవుని ఆలయము (temple of God, applied to the individual body) must not collapse into the unqualified sense of దేవాలయం, the everyday word for a Hindu temple/idol-shrine — a live, immediate cultural reference point. The point is the exclusive indwelling of God’s own Spirit, not a borrowed regional temple-sanctity concept.
Baptism and Church Unity
Telugu name: బాప్తిస్మము మరియు సంఘ ఐక్యత
Key terms: baptism, church, one_body_many_members
Review routing: Human theologian
బాప్తిస్మము must denote a real, once-for-all Christian identification-rite, not a generic ritual bathing/purification — a category with parallels in regional temple/ritual bathing customs (e.g. sacred-tank bathing at pilgrimage sites) that could dilute its unique covenantal, unity-creating meaning if the term is handled loosely.
Gender Order in Worship
Telugu name: ఆరాధనలో స్త్రీ పురుష క్రమం
Key terms: head_headship, head_covering_veil, women_keep_silence, glory
Review routing: Human theologian
శిరస్సు and మౌనంగా ఉండవలెను are flagged High risk chiefly for interpretive/pastoral sensitivity rather than syncretism: the underlying authority-versus-source exegetical debate must not be resolved through translation-word choice, and Telugu head-covering customs (e.g. sari pallu) carry independent social meanings that must not be imported into Paul’s argument. Requires careful, sensitive learner-facing framing.
The Church as the Temple of God
Telugu name: దేవుని ఆలయంగా సంఘము
Key terms: temple_of_god, holy_spirit, foundation
Review routing: Human theologian
దేవుని ఆలయము (corporate sense) must remain distinct from సంఘము (church-as-assembly) while also avoiding collapse into the unqualified everyday sense of దేవాలయం, the default Telugu word for a Hindu temple; the deliberate OT-temple-sanctity echo, not a borrowed regional temple concept, must be preserved.
Judgment and Accountability in Ministry
Telugu name: పరిచర్యలో దేవుని తీర్పు మరియు జవాబుదారీతనం
Key terms: judgment, steward
Review routing: Human theologian
తీర్పు must be understood as a personal God’s righteous, evaluative verdict on ministry — not an impersonal karmic ledger (కర్మఫలం) that self-executes irrespective of God’s agency, a distinction worth reinforcing given the surrounding regional culture’s pervasive karma vocabulary even within long-Christian communities.
Apostolic Tradition and Authority
Telugu name: అపొస్తలుల బోధ మరియు అధికారం
Key terms: apostle, received_delivered_tradition, proclaim_preach, the_twelve, cephas_peter
Review routing: Human theologian
The technical అందుకొనుట/అప్పగించుట (received/delivered) pairing must read as a fixed, authoritative deposit of teaching transmitted through named, accountable apostolic eyewitnesses — not personal opinion, folklore, or an evolving oral tradition — since this is the very ground on which the resurrection’s historicity is argued in the core passage.
Spiritual Gifts and the Body of Christ
Telugu name: ఆత్మీయ వరములు మరియు క్రీస్తు శరీరం
Key terms: spiritual_gifts, word_of_wisdom_word_of_knowledge, gifts_of_healing, workings_of_miracles_powers, one_body_many_members, body_of_christ, power_of_god
Review routing: Human theologian
సామర్థ్య కార్యములు (‘workings of powers’) is the single point in the whole letter where శక్తి is most tempting given the subject matter of miraculous power; the baseline’s forbidden-substitution rule (never శక్తి, always సామర్థ్యం, to avoid drawing on Andhra Pradesh’s prominent Shakta/Kanaka Durgamma devotional-power tradition) must be enforced with particular vigilance here. స్వస్థతల వరములు (healing gifts) must also stay distinct from regional folk-healer practices.
Discernment of Spiritual Manifestations
Telugu name: ఆత్మీయ వ్యక్తీకరణల వివేచన
Key terms: discerning_of_spirits, tongues_interpretation_of_tongues, decently_and_in_order
Review routing: Human theologian
ఆత్మల వివేచన and భాషలు must be framed within Holy-Spirit-given discernment and orderly Spirit-given utterance, distinct from regional folk practices of spirit-testing/exorcism (bhūta-vidya) and from ecstatic trance-speech associated with certain village-goddess ritual contexts — an uncontrolled trance phenomenon is not the biblical gift in view.
Order in Worship
Telugu name: ఆరాధనలో క్రమం
Key terms: decently_and_in_order, tongues_interpretation_of_tongues, head_headship, head_covering_veil, women_keep_silence
Review routing: Human theologian
Combines the tongues/prophecy regulation material (interpretive risk: distinguishing Spirit-given orderly gifts from regional trance-possession practices) with the gender-order material (pastoral/interpretive sensitivity risk); route the whole doctrinal cluster to human theologian review rather than treating either half in isolation.
Medium Risk Doctrines
Marriage and Singleness
Telugu name: వివాహం మరియు అవివాహిత జీవితం
Key terms: marriage, virgin_unmarried, called, calling
Review routing: Native speaker review
Both marriage and singleness are presented as good, God-given callings without hierarchy between them; comparatively low syncretism risk in Telugu, since neither state carries a competing merit-status association comparable to regional ascetic-renunciation categories, though care is needed that అవివాహితులు (unmarried) is not read through an ascetic-renunciate lens.
Christian Identity Transcending Social Status
Telugu name: సామాజిక స్థితిని అధిగమించే క్రైస్తవ గుర్తింపు
Key terms: circumcision, slave_free, called
Review routing: Native speaker review
The claim that circumcision/uncircumcision and slave/free status ‘count for nothing’ before God resonates directly with Telugu Christianity’s own historical roots in 19th-century mass movements among Dalit communities seeking exactly this equality (as already noted in the baseline’s Universal Scope of the Gospel doctrine); దాసుడు’s positive cross-religious devotional connotation (‘servant of God’) requires contextual clarity so the social-status point is not lost.
Fulfillment of Scripture
Telugu name: లేఖనముల నెరవేర్పు
Key terms: scriptures, passover_typological, type_example
Review routing: Native speaker review
Linear, historical fulfillment and OT-NT typological correspondence; comparatively low syncretism risk given Telugu’s own century-old, settled Bible-teaching tradition on prophecy fulfillment, matching the baseline’s Fulfillment of Prophecy tier, though OT narrative literacy should not be assumed without support.
Low Risk Doctrines
Church Fellowship and Mutual Care
Telugu name: సంఘ సహవాసం మరియు పరస్పర సంరక్షణ
Key terms: collection_for_saints, holy_kiss, maranatha, brothers_brethren, fellowship
Review routing: Automated review
Concrete, practical expressions of cross-congregational unity and love (the collection, greetings, the holy kiss as a cultural-adaptation rather than doctrinal question); low doctrinal risk, standard well-established Telugu church vocabulary throughout.
