Core Glossary
Core Glossary — Jude 1 (Full Book) | English → Telugu
This glossary compiles every load-bearing theological term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, covering the entire book of Jude (its single chapter, vv. 1–25). Terms already present in the baseline Romans translation_memory.json are marked REUSE and their recorded Telugu rendering is carried forward unchanged, per the hard rule that established Language Package renderings must be reused exactly. Terms newly introduced by Jude’s distinctive vocabulary are marked NEW and are proposed here for addition to the Language Package’s translation memory in Phase 1 Step 2 (Doctrine Risk Registry) and beyond.
Risk tiers follow the baseline’s four-tier framework: Critical (human theologian review, every occurrence), High (human theologian review), Medium (native speaker review), Low (automated review sufficient).
Reused Terms (from Romans translation_memory.json — locked, no deviation permitted)
| Term (English) | Original (Greek) | Telugu Rendering | Doctrine Link (Jude) | Risk | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| salvation | σωτηρία | రక్షణ | Contending for the Faith; Mercy and Rescue of the Wavering | Critical | Reused unchanged. Never మోక్షం/ముక్తి. Underlies “Savior” (రక్షకుడు, v.25) and “save” (రక్షించు, v.23). |
| faith | πίστις | విశ్వాసం | Contending for the Faith Once Delivered | Medium/High | In Jude, frequently denotes the fixed apostolic deposit (“the faith,” v.3, v.20) rather than only subjective trust; contextual nuance must be preserved. |
| saints | ἅγιοι | పరిశుద్ధులు | (background; corporate believer sense) | Medium | Contrast with v.14’s likely-angelic ἅγιαι μυριάσιν — see NEW entry “holy ones (angelic)” below; do not conflate the two referents under one gloss without a note. |
| holy | ἅγιος (adj.) | పరిశుద్ధ | Contending for the Faith (“most holy faith,” v.20) | High | Reused unchanged, locked per baseline denominational-consistency rule (never పవిత్ర). |
| grace | χάρις | కృప | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers (grace perverted, v.4) | High | Must preserve the grace/license contrast per baseline Validation Rules; keep distinct from NEW term “mercy” (కనికరం) below. |
| lord | κύριος | ప్రభువు | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers; Doxology | Critical | Reused unchanged. Paired in v.4 with NEW term “Master” (యజమాని) — kept distinct, not merged. |
| jesus | Ἰησοῦς | యేసు | throughout | Critical | Reused unchanged. |
| god | θεός | దేవుడు | throughout | Critical | Reused unchanged. |
| holy_spirit | πνεῦμα ἅγιον | పరిశుద్ధాత్మ | Contending for the Faith (“praying in the Holy Spirit,” v.20); background to NEW term ψυχικοί (v.19) | Critical | Reused unchanged; see NEW entry “worldly/soulish” below for a High-risk adjacent collision point involving the shared ఆత్మ root. |
| called | κλητός | పిలువబడిన | (opening address, v.1) | High/Medium | Reused unchanged; effectual-calling sense per baseline. |
| apostle | ἀπόστολος | అపొస్తలుడు (pl. అపొస్తలులు) | (v.17, apostolic warning cited) | Medium | Reused unchanged. |
| prophet / prophesied | προφήτης / προφητεύω | ప్రవక్త / ప్రవచించు | Old Testament Warnings as Types (Enoch’s prophecy, v.14) | High (elevated from baseline’s Low, in this specific context) | Verb form reused from baseline’s ప్రవచనం root. Risk elevated here specifically because Jude cites non-canonical 1 Enoch as containing a true prophetic word — flag for theologian review re: canon/inspiration clarity, distinct from the generally Low risk this term carries elsewhere. |
| glory | δόξα | మహిమ | Doxology and God’s Preserving Power; also v.8’s NEW term “glorious ones” | High | Reused unchanged. See NEW entry “glorious ones (angelic)” below for an adjacent High-risk collision. |
| peace | εἰρήνη | శాంతి | (salutation, v.2) | Medium | Reused unchanged. |
| sin / sinners | ἁμαρτία / ἁμαρτωλοί | పాపం / పాపులు | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers (v.15) | High | Reused unchanged. |
New Terms Introduced by Jude (proposed additions to the Language Package)
| Term (English) | Original (Greek) | Transliteration | Proposed Telugu Rendering | Doctrine Link | Risk | Rationale / Rejected Alternatives |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| contend (for the faith) | ἐπαγωνίζεσθαι | epagōnizesthai | విశ్వాసము కొరకు పోరాడుట | Contending for the Faith Once Delivered | High | Programmatic verb for the whole letter. Must read as earnest doctrinal perseverance/defense, not literal combat or communal strife. Render identically at every occurrence. |
| delivered / entrusted (once for all) | παραδοθείσῃ | paradotheisē | అప్పగించబడిన | Contending for the Faith Once Delivered | High | Pair with ఒక్కసారే (“once for all”) to convey a closed, completed transmission, not an evolving tradition. |
| designated beforehand | προγεγραμμένοι | progegrammenoi | ముందుగా నిర్ణయించబడిన | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | High | Adjacent to baseline’s providence/election caution; must not read as విధి (fate) or కర్మ (karma). God’s just foreknowledge of culpable persons, not impersonal predestination to evil. |
| condemnation / judgment | κρίμα / κρίσις | krima / krisis | తీర్పు (general); శిక్ష విధింపు (specific sentence) | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | High | Rejected alternative: any కర్మఫలం-style rendering (already rejected for “grace” in baseline) — this is a personal God’s judicial verdict, not impersonal cause-effect. |
| ungodly / ungodliness | ἀσεβεῖς / ἀσέβεια | asebeis / asebeia | భక్తిహీనులు / భక్తిహీనత | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | High | Built on the భక్తి root the baseline rejected for “faith” (bhakti’s devotional connotations); here repurposed with a negating prefix. Must always specify the object (దేవుని పట్ల) to avoid misreading as generic “less religious.” |
| sensuality | ἀσέλγεια | aselgeia | కామవాంఛలు | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | Medium | Fruit of perverted grace (v.4); keep the grace-connection explicit in lesson material. |
| Master (absolute owner) | δεσπότης | despotēs | యజమాని | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | High | Kept distinct from ప్రభువు (Lord); must not soften to generic “boss/employer.” |
| angel(s) | ἄγγελος | angelos | దేవదూత (pl. దేవదూతలు) | Old Testament Warnings as Types | Medium | Phonetically/conceptually close to దేవత (Hindu deity/demigod); clarify angels are created messengers, not lesser deities. |
| kept / keep (positive: God preserving believers) | τηρέω (τετηρημένοις, τηρῆσαι) | tēreō | కాపాడబడిన / కాపాడుట | Kept by God and Presented Blameless | Critical | Central recurring verb of the whole letter (vv.1, 21, 24). Must be kept distinct from the negative custodial sense (below) at every occurrence — theologian review required each time. |
| kept / reserved (negative: held for judgment) | τηρέω (τετήρηκεν) | tēreō | బంధించి ఉంచుట | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | Critical | Same Greek root as above with the opposite sense (fallen angels, v.6; also v.13’s reserved darkness). Never interchange with the positive-sense rendering. |
| eternal chains / eternal fire | δεσμοῖς ἀϊδίοις / πυρὸς αἰωνίου | desmois aïdiois / pyros aiōniou | నిత్య బంధకములు / నిత్యాగ్ని | Old Testament Warnings as Types | Medium | Use నిత్య- consistently for all Jude’s αἰώνιος occurrences (chains, fire, life) for terminological unity across the letter. |
| example (type/warning) | δεῖγμα | deigma | మాదిరి / గుర్తు | Old Testament Warnings as Types | Low | Standard usage; supports the “type” doctrine explicitly. |
| unnatural desire (Sodom) | σαρκὸς ἑτέρας | sarkos heteras | అన్యమైన శరీరవాంఛ | Old Testament Warnings as Types | High | Sensitive content; theologian review required to preserve the boundary-transgression sense without adding interpretive commentary. |
| defile the flesh | σάρκα μιαίνουσιν | sarka miainousin | శరీరమును అపవిత్రం చేయుట | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | Medium | Ensure this reads as moral defilement, not ritual/caste-purity pollution. |
| reject lordship/authority | κυριότητα ἀθετοῦσιν | kyriotēta athetousin | ప్రభుత్వాన్ని తిరస్కరించుట | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers (Lordship of Christ link) | High | Built on the ప్రభు- root shared with ప్రభువు (Lord); confirm the Christ-lordship connection is not lost. |
| glorious ones (angelic beings) | δόξας (substantival pl.) | doxas | మహిమగల వారు | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | High | Built on మహిమ (God’s own glory, Critical in baseline); bound contextually so learners do not confuse this with blasphemy against God’s own glory directly. |
| archangel | ἀρχάγγελος | archangelos | ప్రధానదూత | Old Testament Warnings as Types | Medium | Built on దేవదూత; established rank distinct from ordinary angels. |
| devil | διάβολος | diabolos | అపవాది | Old Testament Warnings as Types | High | Must denote the singular, personal, cosmic adversary — not one of many రాక్షసులు/folk-spirits (దయ్యం, పిశాచి). |
| blaspheme | βλασφημέω | blasphēmeō | దూషించు | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | Medium/High | Consistent rendering at every occurrence (vv.8, 9, 10). |

| rebellion (Korah’s) | ἀντιλογία | antilogia | తిరుగుబాటు | Old Testament Warnings as Types | Medium | Rebellion against divinely-instituted leadership. |
| love feasts | ἀγάπαι | agapai | ప్రేమ విందులు | (fellowship background) | Medium | Early-church communal meal practice; brief explanatory gloss recommended for learners. |
| wandering stars | ἀστέρες πλανῆται | asteres planētai | తప్పిపోయిన నక్షత్రాలు | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | Low | Imagery of failed guidance reserved for fixed judgment. |
| holy ones (angelic, v.14) | ἁγίαις μυριάσιν | hagiais myriasin | పరిశుద్ధులైన వేవేల మంది | Old Testament Warnings as Types | High | Likely angelic referent, distinct from the corporate-believer సైంట్స్ sense (పరిశుద్ధులు); flag to avoid conflating the two referents. |
| convict | ἐλέγξαι | elegxai | ఖండించుటకు / ఒప్పించుటకు | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | Medium | Judgment includes full exposure, not only sentencing. |
| grumblers / malcontents | γογγυσταί / μεμψίμοιροι | gongystai / mempsimoiroi | సణుగువారు / అసంతృప్తులు | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | Low/Medium | Echoes Israel’s wilderness grumbling (v.5 link). |
| sinful desires / passions | ἐπιθυμία | epithymia | స్వార్థ వాంఛలు | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | Medium | Recurs vv.16, 18; governing self-directed appetite opposed to obedience of faith. |

| causing divisions | ἀποδιορίζοντες | apodiorizontes | విభేదములు కలిగించువారు | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | Medium | Fractures the “one body” unity doctrine. |
| worldly / soulish (devoid of Spirit) | ψυχικοί | psychikoi | ఆత్మ లేనివారు (qualify with పరిశుద్ధాత్మ లేనివారు) | Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers | High | ఆత్మ root shared with పరిశుద్ధాత్మ (Holy Spirit) risks confusion with Vedantic ఆత్మ (monistic universal Self) — the same concern behind the baseline’s rejection of పరమాత్మ for Holy Spirit. Always pair with the full πνεῦμα clause; prefer the fuller compound over a bare ఆత్మ form. |
| building up (mutual edification) | ἐποικοδομοῦντες | epoikodomountes | క్షేమాభివృద్ధి చేసుకొనుట | (Mutual Edification, cf. Romans doctrine) | Low | Reuses baseline’s పరస్పర క్షేమాభివృద్ధి root. |
| love (of God) | ἀγάπη | agapē | ప్రేమ | Kept by God and Presented Blameless (v.21 “keep yourselves in the love of God”) | Medium | Distinguish from generic human ప్రేమ and from భక్తి-style devotional attachment; recommend formal addition to Language Package. |
| mercy | ἔλεος | eleos | కనికరం | Mercy and Rescue of the Wavering | High | Distinct from కృప (grace); central to three separate verses (2, 21, 22–23) in this short letter — recommend formal Critical/High-tier Language Package addition. |
| eternal life | ζωὴ αἰώνιος | zōē aiōnios | నిత్యజీవం | Mercy and Rescue of the Wavering | Critical | Never మోక్షం/ముక్తి, for the same reason రక్షణ forbids them — unending personal life with God, not release from a rebirth cycle. Recommend cross-reference with రక్షణ in the Language Package. |
| those who doubt / waver | διακρινόμενοι | diakrinomenoi | సందేహించువారు | Mercy and Rescue of the Wavering | Medium | Must be distinguished from the false teachers themselves — a sympathetic, rescuable group. |
| snatching (from the fire) | ἁρπάζοντες | harpazontes | లాగివేయుచు | Mercy and Rescue of the Wavering | Medium | Conveys urgency of rescue. |
| garment stained by the flesh | χιτῶνα ἐσπιλωμένον | chitōna espilōmenon | శరీరముచేత మరకపట్టిన వస్త్రము | Mercy and Rescue of the Wavering | Medium/High | Moral corruption imagery; avoid ritual/caste-purity pollution associations. |
| servant / bondservant | δοῦλος | doulos | దాసుడు | (authorial self-designation, v.1) | Medium | Total-belonging force; distinguish from సేవకుడు (hired servant). |
| keep from stumbling | φυλάξαι ἀπταίστους | phylaxai aptaistous | తప్పిపోకుండ కాపాడుటకు | Kept by God and Presented Blameless | Critical | Doxological climax; must attribute keeping-power to God alone. |

| majesty | μεγαλωσύνη | megalōsynē | ఘనత | Doxology and God’s Preserving Power | Medium | Avoid మహాత్మ్యం-style coinage due to “Mahatma” title homophony risk. |
| dominion (might/power) | κράτος | kratos | బలము / ప్రభావం | Doxology and God’s Preserving Power | Medium | Never శక్తి (forbidden Critical substitution per baseline’s power-of-God caution re: Shakta tradition). |
| authority | ἐξουσία | exousia | అధికారం | Doxology and God’s Preserving Power | Low/Medium | Distinguish from ప్రభుత్వం (used for κυριότης) to preserve the letter’s distinct-term structure. |

This glossary must be loaded alongside the baseline translation_memory.json and bible_term_registry.json before Phase 1 Step 2 (Doctrine Risk Registry construction for Jude) begins. All NEW entries above are proposed for formal addition to an updated, Jude-extended translation memory version, incrementing the baseline’s version number per its own update protocol.
Critical Risk Terms
Salvation
Approved rendering: రక్షణ
Transliteration: rakshana
Doctrine: Assurance of Salvation and Eternal Life
Rejected alternatives: మోక్షం, ముక్తి
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. In Jude underlies ‘Savior’ (రక్షకుడు, v.25) and the imperative ‘save’ (రక్షించుడి, v.23) — the ‘common salvation’ of v.3 and the rescue-goal of vv.22-23.
Lord
Approved rendering: ప్రభువు
Transliteration: prabhuvu
Doctrine: Denial of Christ’s Lordship (in the False Teachers)
Rejected alternatives: స్వామి
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. In Jude 1:4, paired with the NEW term ‘Master’ (యజమాని, δεσπότης) as the very authority the false teachers deny; must be kept textually distinct from యజమాని rather than merged. Also ‘our Lord Jesus Christ’ throughout (vv.4, 17, 21, 25).
Jesus
Approved rendering: యేసు
Transliteration: Yēsu
Doctrine: Denial of Christ’s Lordship (in the False Teachers)
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged.
God
Approved rendering: దేవుడు
Transliteration: Dēvuḍu
Doctrine: Doxology and God’s Preserving Power
Rejected alternatives: భగవంతుడు
Original: θεός
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Named directly as ‘the only God, our Savior’ in Jude’s closing doxology (v.25).
Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: పరిశుద్ధాత్మ
Transliteration: pariśuddhātma
Doctrine: Sanctification and Holy Living
Rejected alternatives: పరమాత్మ, పవిత్రాత్మ
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Jude 1:20 commands prayer ‘in the Holy Spirit’; Jude 1:19 describes the false teachers as devoid of this same Spirit (see NEW entry ‘worldly_soulish’). Always use the full compound, never a bare ఆత్మ form, given the adjacent Vedantic-ఆత్మ collision risk in v.19.
Imputed Righteousness
Approved rendering: ఆపాదింపబడిన నీతి
Transliteration: āpādimpabaḍina nīti
Doctrine: Kept by God and Presented Blameless
Rejected alternatives: స్వార్జిత నీతి
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Cited as the theological parallel pattern behind Jude 1:24’s ‘blameless’ (నిర్దోషులు) — a future, God-granted status, not a present self-achieved moral perfection.
Father
Approved rendering: తండ్రి
Transliteration: Tandri
Doctrine: Divine Calling and Apostolic Authority
Rejected alternatives: సృష్టికర్త
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Jude 1:1 addresses recipients as ‘beloved in God the Father’ (Θεῷ πατρί) — the everyday, personal, relational Telugu word for father, not the abstract సృష్టికర్త.
Kept Preserved Positive
Approved rendering: కాపాడబడిన / కాపాడుట
Transliteration: kāpāḍabaḍina / kāpāḍuṭa
Doctrine: Kept by God and Presented Blameless
Rejected alternatives: బంధించి ఉంచుట (forbidden for this sense)
Original: τηρέω (τετηρημένοις v.1, τηρήσατε v.21, φυλάξαι v.24)
Category: Preservation
τηρέω, positive sense: τετηρημένοις (v.1), τηρήσατε (v.21), φυλάξαι (v.24). God’s gracious preservation of believers. CRITICAL: never interchange with ‘kept_reserved_negative’ — the same Greek root carries the opposite sense elsewhere in this same letter (vv.6, 13). Human theologian review required at every occurrence to confirm the positive sense is active.
Kept Reserved Negative
Approved rendering: బంధించి ఉంచుట
Transliteration: bandhin̄chi un̄chuṭa
Doctrine: Old Testament Warnings as Types (Israel, Angels, Sodom)
Rejected alternatives: కాపాడబడిన (forbidden for this sense)
Original: τηρέω (τετήρηκεν v.6); cf. τετηρημένον v.13’s reserved darkness
Category: Judgment
τηρέω, negative custodial sense: τετήρηκεν (v.6, fallen angels); cf. v.13’s reserved darkness. CRITICAL: same Greek root as ‘kept_preserved_positive’ but opposite theological force; must never be interchanged. Human theologian review required at every occurrence.
Eternal Life
Approved rendering: నిత్యజీవం
Transliteration: nityajīvam
Doctrine: Assurance of Salvation and Eternal Life
Rejected alternatives: మోక్షం, ముక్తి
Original: ζωὴ αἰώνιος
Category: Eschatology
ζωὴ αἰώνιος, Jude 1:21. Never మోక్షం or ముక్తి, for the identical reason the inherited ‘salvation’ term forbids them — unending personal life in fellowship with the personal God, not release from an impersonal rebirth cycle. Cross-reference with రక్షణ throughout.
Keep From Stumbling
Approved rendering: తప్పిపోకుండ కాపాడుటకు
Transliteration: tappipōkunḍa kāpāḍuṭaku
Doctrine: Kept by God and Presented Blameless
Original: φυλάξαι ἀπταίστους
Category: Preservation
φυλάξαι ἀπταίστους, Jude 1:24. The letter’s doxological climax; must clearly attribute the keeping power to God alone (‘him who is able’), never shifting emphasis toward self-effort. Human theologian review required.
Savior
Approved rendering: రక్షకుడు
Transliteration: rakshakuḍu
Doctrine: Doxology and God’s Preserving Power
Rejected alternatives: మోక్షం/ముక్తి-ఆధారిత పదజాలం
Original: σωτήρ
Category: Salvation
σωτήρ, Jude 1:25. God named directly as ‘our Savior’ in the closing doxology. Derived from the inherited రక్షణ root; never derived from మోక్షం/ముక్తి roots.
High Risk Terms
Holy
Approved rendering: పరిశుద్ధ
Transliteration: pariśuddha
Doctrine: Sanctification and Holy Living
Rejected alternatives: పవిత్ర, శుద్ధ
Original: ἅγιος
Category: Sanctification
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged, locked per baseline denominational-consistency rule. Describes the believers’ faith itself in Jude 1:20 (‘your most holy faith’).
Grace
Approved rendering: కృప
Transliteration: kṛpa
Doctrine: Perversion of Grace into License
Rejected alternatives: పుణ్యం, కర్మఫలం
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. In Jude 1:4, the object of the false teachers’ perversion into sensuality; the grace/license contrast must be preserved per baseline Validation Rules. Must never be interchanged with the NEW term ‘mercy’ (కనికరం) — the two are kept distinct across vv.2, 21, 22-23 in Jude’s own vocabulary.
Glory
Approved rendering: మహిమ
Transliteration: mahima
Doctrine: Doxology and God’s Preserving Power
Rejected alternatives: తేజస్సు
Original: δόξα
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. In Jude 1:24-25, believers are presented ‘before the presence of his glory,’ and glory is ascribed to God alone in the doxology. Must be kept distinct from the NEW term ‘glorious_ones’ (మహిమగల వారు, v.8), which names created angelic beings, not God’s own glory.
Sin
Approved rendering: పాపం
Transliteration: pāpam
Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
Rejected alternatives: అధర్మం
Original: ἁμαρτωλός (sinners, v.15)
Category: Sin
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged (root also underlies పాపులు, ‘sinners,’ Jude 1:15). Must not read as impersonal karmic consequence; a personal God’s judgment on culpable persons.
Church
Approved rendering: సంఘము
Transliteration: sanghamu
Doctrine: Church Unity and Divisions
Rejected alternatives: దేవాలయం, సభ
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged, locked throughout. Relevant to Jude 1:19’s causing_divisions imagery, which directly opposes the one-body unity this doctrine protects; never దేవాలయం.
Election
Approved rendering: దేవుని ఏర్పాటు
Transliteration: Dēvuni Ērpāṭu
Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
Rejected alternatives: విధి, కర్మ
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Cited as the comparison-concept guarding the NEW term ‘designated_beforehand’ (Jude 1:4, προγεγραμμένοι): God’s sovereign, personal foreknowledge of culpable persons, never విధి (fate) or కర్మ (karma).
Providence
Approved rendering: దేవుని పరిపాలన
Transliteration: Dēvuni Paripālana
Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
Rejected alternatives: విధి, కర్మసిద్ధాంతం
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Same fatalism/karma caution invoked for Jude 1:4’s ‘designated beforehand’ and 1:6’s ‘kept in chains until judgment’ — God’s personal, purposive governance, never impersonal fate or karma.
Obedience Of Faith
Approved rendering: విశ్వాస విధేయత
Transliteration: viswāsa vidhēyata
Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
Rejected alternatives: ధార్మిక కర్తవ్యం
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Cited as the positive principle directly opposed by the false teachers’ self-directed ‘sinful desires’ (స్వార్థ వాంఛలు, Jude 1:16, 18).
Power Of God
Approved rendering: దేవుని సామర్థ్యం
Transliteration: Dēvuni Sāmarthyam
Doctrine: Doxology and God’s Preserving Power
Rejected alternatives: శక్తి
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. The forbidden శక్తి substitution documented here applies identically to the NEW term ‘dominion_kratos’ (బలము/ప్రభావం) in Jude 1:25’s closing doxology, given Andhra Pradesh’s prominent Shakta tradition (Kanaka Durgamma, Vijayawada).
Sanctification
Approved rendering: పరిశుద్ధపరచడం
Transliteration: pariśuddhaparachaḍam
Doctrine: Sanctification and Holy Living
Rejected alternatives: శుద్ధీకరణ
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Extended into Jude’s positive pastoral charge of vv.20-21 (building up in most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keeping oneself in the love of God).
Contend For The Faith
Approved rendering: విశ్వాసము కొరకు పోరాడుట
Transliteration: viswāsamu koraku pōrāḍuṭa
Doctrine: Contending for the Faith Once Delivered
Original: ἐπαγωνίζεσθαι
Category: Faith
ἐπαγωνίζεσθαι, Jude 1:3, the letter’s programmatic verb. పోరాడు carries everyday combat/strife connotations; lesson framing must present this as urgent, active doctrinal perseverance and public defense of truth, never physical or communal conflict. Render identically at every recurrence in the curriculum.
Delivered Once For All
Approved rendering: అప్పగించబడిన
Transliteration: appagin̄chabaḍina
Doctrine: Contending for the Faith Once Delivered
Original: παραδοθείσῃ
Category: Faith
παραδοθείσῃ, Jude 1:3. Must convey a closed, completed transmission, not an evolving tradition; pair with ఒక్కసారే (‘once for all’) in surrounding lesson material to protect this sense.
Designated Beforehand
Approved rendering: ముందుగా నిర్ణయించబడిన
Transliteration: mundugā nirṇayin̄chabaḍina
Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
Rejected alternatives: విధి-ఆధారిత పదజాలం, కర్మ-ఆధారిత పదజాలం
Original: προγεγραμμένοι
Category: Judgment
προγεγραμμένοι, Jude 1:4. God’s just foreknowledge of persons who genuinely and culpably reject him, not blind predestination to evil apart from their own responsibility; must never read as విధి or కర్మ.
Condemnation Judgment
Approved rendering: తీర్పు / శిక్ష విధింపు
Transliteration: tīrpu / śikṣa vidhimpu
Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
Rejected alternatives: కర్మఫలం-ఆధారిత పదజాలం
Original: κρίμα / κρίσις
Category: Judgment
κρίμα (v.4)/κρίσις (vv.6, 9, 15). Render తీర్పు consistently for both Greek terms unless a verse requires the sharper ‘sentence’ nuance (శిక్ష విధింపు); never కర్మఫలం-style impersonal cause-effect.
Ungodly
Approved rendering: భక్తిహీనులు / భక్తిహీనత
Transliteration: bhaktihīnulu / bhaktihīnata
Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
Original: ἀσεβεῖς / ἀσέβεια
Category: Sin
ἀσεβεῖς/ἀσέβεια, vv.4, 15, 18. Built on the భక్తి root the baseline rejected for ‘faith’ due to Vaishnava/Shaiva devotional connotations. Always specify the object (దేవుని పట్ల భక్తిహీనులు) to avoid misreading as generic ‘less devout.’ Jude 1:15 repeats the root four times for rhetorical intensity; preserve repetition where feasible.
Master Despotes
Approved rendering: యజమాని
Transliteration: yajamāni
Doctrine: Denial of Christ’s Lordship (in the False Teachers)
Original: δεσπότης
Category: Christology
δεσπότης, Jude 1:4. Kept textually distinct from ప్రభువు (Lord); must not soften to a generic ‘boss/employer’ register, which would lose the absolute-ownership force of the Greek.
Unnatural Desire
Approved rendering: అన్యమైన శరీరవాంఛ
Transliteration: anyamaina śarīravān̄cha
Doctrine: Old Testament Warnings as Types (Israel, Angels, Sodom)
Original: σαρκὸς ἑτέρας
Category: Sin
σαρκὸς ἑτέρας, Jude 1:7. Sensitive content requiring precise, non-editorializing rendering; theologian review required to preserve the boundary-transgression sense without softening judgment or adding interpretive commentary.
Reject Lordship
Approved rendering: ప్రభుత్వాన్ని తిరస్కరించుట
Transliteration: prabhutvānni tiraskarin̄chuṭa
Doctrine: Denial of Christ’s Lordship (in the False Teachers)
Original: κυριότητα ἀθετοῦσιν
Category: Christology
κυριότητα ἀθετοῦσιν, Jude 1:8. Built on the ప్రభు- root shared with ప్రభువు (Lord); must keep the Christ-lordship connection explicit, not genericized into mere disrespect for authority figures.
Glorious Ones
Approved rendering: మహిమగల వారు
Transliteration: mahimagala vāru
Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
Original: δόξαι (substantival plural)
Category: Typology
δόξαι, Jude 1:8. Built on మహిమ (God’s own glory, High/Critical). Requires a mandatory bounding footnote at every occurrence: exalted created beings, not God himself.
Devil
Approved rendering: అపవాది
Transliteration: apavādi
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare and the Devil
Rejected alternatives: రాక్షసులు, దయ్యం, పిశాచి
Original: διάβολος
Category: Spiritual Warfare
διάβολος, Jude 1:9. Must denote the singular, personal, cosmic adversary of God, never one of many demons/folk-spirits — categories with deep roots in regional animist/folk-Hindu belief. Consistent, singular usage required across the curriculum.
Blaspheme
Approved rendering: దూషించు
Transliteration: dūshin̄chu
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare and the Devil
Original: βλασφημέω
Category: Sin
βλασφημέω, vv.8, 9, 10. Render consistently at every occurrence so the contrast between the false teachers’ presumption and Michael’s restraint remains visible.
Holy Ones Angelic
Approved rendering: పరిశుద్ధులైన వేవేల మంది
Transliteration: pariśuddhulaina vēvēla mandi
Doctrine: Inspiration of Scripture and Citation of Prophecy
Original: ἁγίαις μυριάσιν
Category: Typology
ἁγίαις μυριάσιν, Jude 1:14, cited from Enoch. Built on the same పరిశుద్ధ root as ‘saints’ (పరిశుద్ధులు) but the referent here is very likely angelic, not the corporate church. Requires a disambiguating translator’s note distinguishing the two referents.
Worldly Soulish
Approved rendering: పరిశుద్ధాత్మ లేనివారు
Transliteration: pariśuddhātma lēnivāru
Doctrine: Sanctification and Holy Living
Rejected alternatives: ఆత్మ లేనివారు (bare form forbidden)
Original: ψυχικοί
Category: God
ψυχικοί, Jude 1:19. Never render with a bare ఆత్మ-based word — direct collision risk with Vedantic ఆత్మ (monistic universal Self), the identical concern behind the baseline’s forbidding of పరమాత్మ for Holy Spirit. Always use the full compound, paired with the following clause’s explicit Spirit-reference. Human theologian review required.
Mercy
Approved rendering: కనికరం
Transliteration: kanikaram
Doctrine: Mercy and Rescue of the Wavering
Original: ἔλεος
Category: Salvation
ἔλεος, vv.2, 21, 22-23. Must be kept clearly distinct from the inherited term ‘grace’ (కృప) despite theological overlap; the two must never be used interchangeably in this curriculum, since Jude’s own vocabulary keeps them separate across three verses in one short letter.
Blameless
Approved rendering: నిర్దోషులు
Transliteration: nirdōshulu
Doctrine: Kept by God and Presented Blameless
Original: ἄμωμος
Category: Salvation
ἄμωμος, Jude 1:24. A future, God-granted status believers will be presented in, echoing (without being identical to) the inherited imputed-righteousness pattern; must not be read as present self-achieved sinless perfection.
Medium Risk Terms
Faith
Approved rendering: విశ్వాసం
Transliteration: viswāsam
Doctrine: Contending for the Faith Once Delivered
Rejected alternatives: భక్తి
Original: πίστις
Category: Faith
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. In Jude 1:3 and 1:20 shifts toward the fixed apostolic-doctrine-deposit sense (‘the faith,’ ‘your most holy faith’) rather than only subjective trust; both senses are carried by this same Telugu word and must be disambiguated in lesson commentary, not by a different term.
Saints
Approved rendering: పరిశుద్ధులు
Transliteration: pariśuddhulu
Doctrine: Contending for the Faith Once Delivered
Rejected alternatives: సాధువులు
Original: ἅγιοι
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Must not be conflated with Jude 1:14’s likely-angelic ‘holy ones’ (పరిశుద్ధులైన వేవేల మంది) — see that separate NEW entry for the disambiguation rule.
Called
Approved rendering: పిలువబడిన
Transliteration: piluvabaḍina
Doctrine: Divine Calling and Apostolic Authority
Rejected alternatives: ఆహ్వానించబడిన
Original: κλητός
Category: Salvation

Transliteration: rahasyaṅgā jorabaḍina
Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
Original: παρεισέδυσαν
Category: Judgment
παρεισέδυσαν, Jude 1:4. Must convey covert infiltration from within the community, not open external attack — the danger Jude warns of is internal.
Angel
Approved rendering: దేవదూత
Transliteration: dēvadūta
Doctrine: Old Testament Warnings as Types (Israel, Angels, Sodom)
Original: ἄγγελος
Category: Typology
ἄγγελος, Jude 1:6 (plural దేవదూతలు). Phonetically/conceptually close to దేవత (Hindu deity/demigod); lesson material must make clear angels are created, servant messengers of the one దేవుడు, not lesser deities in a pantheon.

Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
