Core Glossary
Core Glossary: 2 Timothy (English–Telugu)
This glossary extends the Romans baseline translation_memory.json for the 2 Timothy curriculum. Section A lists terms already locked by the Romans baseline and reused here exactly (no changes permitted). Section B lists new terms this curriculum introduces, each requiring entry into translation_memory.json and bible_term_registry.json before Phase 2 begins. Risk tiers and review routing follow the same definitions as doctrine_risk_registry.json.

Section B — New Terms Introduced by 2 Timothy
B1. Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture
| English Term | Telugu | Transliteration | Greek | Risk | Occurrences | Alternatives Rejected | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scripture / Holy Scriptures | పరిశుద్ధ లేఖనములు | pariśuddha lēkhanamulu | γραφή / ἱερὰ γράμματα | High | 3:15, 3:16 | గ్రంథము | గ్రంథము is also used generically for revered Hindu sacred texts (e.g., Bhagavad Gita); లేఖనము is the settled, unambiguous Telugu Bible term and is built on [LOCKED] పరిశుద్ధ. |
| God-breathed / Inspired | దైవప్రేరణ పొందిన | daiva prēraṇa pondina | θεόπνευστος | Critical | 3:16 | దైవావేశము | CRITICAL: NEVER దైవావేశము. ఆవేశం is the everyday Telugu word for ecstatic spirit-possession experienced in village-goddess trance worship (a live folk-religious practice in Andhra/Telangana), risking a picture of entranced, non-rational authorship rather than God superintending fully conscious human writers. Requires human theologian sign-off on final phrasing. |
| Profitable / Useful | ప్రయోజనకరమైన | prayōjanakaramaina | ὠφέλιμος | Low | 3:16 | — | Standard term. |
| Teaching / Doctrine | బోధ | bōdha | διδασκαλία / διδαχή | High | 1:13, 3:10, 3:16, 4:2, 4:3 | ఉపదేశము | ఉపదేశము carries generic guru-instruction connotations; బోధ kept consistent across all four chapters as the anchor noun for doctrinal content. |
| Reproof | ఖండన | khaṇḍana | ἔλεγχος / ἐλέγχω | Medium | 3:16, 4:2 | — | Forensic exposure of error; verb and noun rendered from same root. |
| Correction | సరిదిద్దుట | sarididdu-ṭa | ἐπανόρθωσις | Medium | 3:16 | — | NT hapax; “setting straight again.” |
| Training / Discipline | శిక్షణ | śikshaṇa | παιδεία | Medium | 3:16 | శిక్ష (alone) | శిక్ష alone reads as “punishment”; context must establish the formative, child-rearing sense. |
| Man of God | దేవుని మనుష్యుడు | Dēvuni manushyuḍu | ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ | High | 3:17 | దైవభక్తుడు | Retains the OT prophetic-office title resonance (Moses, Elijah); not a generic “godly person.” |
| Complete / Sufficient | సంపూర్ణుడు | sampūrṇuḍu | ἄρτιος | High | 3:17 | — | Names Scripture’s sufficiency, the second half of this doctrine. |
| Equipped | సన్నద్ధుడు | sannaddhuḍu | ἐξηρτισμένος (ἐξαρτίζω) | Medium | 3:17 | — | Shares root with ἄρτιος above. |
B2. Guarding Sound Doctrine
| English Term | Telugu | Transliteration | Greek | Risk | Occurrences | Alternatives Rejected | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sound Doctrine / Sound Teaching | హితబోధ | hitabōdha | ὑγιαίνουσα διδασκαλία / ὑγιαίνοντες λόγοι | High | 1:13, 4:3 | ఆరోగ్యకరమైన బోధ (literal calque) | హితం (“benefit/wellbeing”) naturally carries the health metaphor without an awkward literal calque; must render identically at both occurrences. |
| The Deposit / Entrusted Truth | నిక్షేపం | nikshēpaṁ | παραθήκη | Critical | 1:12, 1:14 | అప్పగింత (usable alternative, not rejected outright) | Religiously neutral term (also used in ordinary banking speech) chosen deliberately to avoid ritual-offering connotations. Central to Faithful Transmission of the Gospel also. |
| Guard / Keep | కాపాడు | kāpāḍu | φυλάσσω / τηρέω | High | 1:12, 1:14, 4:7 | — | Render identically across all three occurrences (φυλάσσω and τηρέω treated as one Telugu term family for glossary consistency). |
| Rightly Handle (the word of truth) | సరిగా వివరించడం | sarigā vivarin̄chaḍaṁ | ὀρθοτομέω | High | 2:15 | ఖండించు (too narrow — “cut/refute”) | Metaphor of cutting a straight path/furrow; positive counterpart to λογομαχεῖν. |
| Wrangling about Words | వాదోపవాదములు చేయు | vādōpavādamulu chēyu | λογομαχέω | Medium | 2:14 | — | Named internal-community vice threatening sound doctrine. |

| Faithful Men | విశ్వాసముగల మనుష్యులు | viswāsamugala manushyulu | πιστοὶ ἄνθρωποι | High | 2:2 | — | Structural core of the “entrust to others” transmission chain. |
| The Deposit | నిక్షేపం | nikshēpaṁ | παραθήκη | Critical | 1:12, 1:14 | (see B2) | Cross-listed; central to both doctrines. |
| Repentance | మారుమనస్సు | mārumanassu | μετάνοια | High | 2:25 | పశ్చాత్తాపం (too emotion-only) | Established wider-NT Telugu Christian term; must convey God-granted change of mind, not self-generated remorse alone. |
| Knowledge of the Truth | సత్యము యొక్క పరిజ్ఞానము | satyamu yokka parijñānamu | ἐπίγνωσις ἀληθείας | Medium | 2:25, 3:7 | — | — |
B4. The Charge to Preach the Word
| English Term | Telugu | Transliteration | Greek | Risk | Occurrences | Alternatives Rejected | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Preach / Proclaim | ప్రకటించు | prakaṭin̄chu | κηρύσσω | High | 4:2 | ప్రచారం చేయు (acceptable near-synonym, standardized away from) | Must recur identically at every occurrence including the related noun below. |
| Herald / Preacher | ప్రచారకుడు | pracārakuḍu | κῆρυξ | High | 1:11 | గురువు | Distinguished from a self-attained teaching-guru role, per baseline’s apostle note. |
| Solemnly Charge | తీవ్రంగా ఆజ్ఞాపించు | tīvraṅgā āgnāpin̄chu | διαμαρτύρομαι | High | 4:1 | — | Legal/solemn register — a charge sworn with God as witness. |
| The Word | వాక్యము | vākyamu | ὁ λόγος | Medium | 4:2, 2:9 | — | The specific apostolic message content, not “a word” generically. |
| Evangelist | సువార్తికుడు | suvārtikuḍu | εὐαγγελιστής | Medium | 4:5 | — | Built on [LOCKED] సువార్త. |
| Ministry / Service | పరిచర్య | paricharya | διακονία | Medium | 4:5 | — | — |
| Fulfill / Fully Carry Out | పూర్తిగా జరిగించు | pūrtigā jarigin̄chu | πληροφορέω | Low | 4:5 | — | — |
| Judge the Living and the Dead | సజీవులకును మృతులకును తీర్పు తీర్చుట | sajīvulakunu mṛtulakunu tīrpu tīrchuṭa | κρίνειν ζῶντας καὶ νεκρούς | High | 4:1 | — | Early creedal formula; feeds Assurance of Reward. |
B5. Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
| English Term | Telugu | Transliteration | Greek | Risk | Occurrences | Alternatives Rejected | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Last Days | అంత్యదినములు | antyadinamulu | ἔσχαται ἡμέραι | High | 3:1 | — | Eschatological frame for the entire apostasy section. |
| Myths / Fables | కల్పిత కథలు | kalpita kathalu | μῦθος | Critical | 4:4 | పుక్కిటిపురాణాలు | CRITICAL: never పుక్కిటిపురాణాలు — this common Telugu idiom for “tall tale” literally contains పురాణం (Purana), the named genre of revered Hindu sacred narrative texts, risking direct or implied equation of “myth” with the Puranas specifically. |
| Turn Away | వెనుకకు తిరుగు | venukaku tirugu | ἀποστρέφω | High | 1:15, 4:4 | — | The core verb-picture of apostasy in this book. |
| Turn Aside / Wander Off | మార్గము తప్పు | mārgamu tappu | ἐκτρέπομαι | Medium | 4:4 | — | Paired path-deviation image with ἀποστρέφω. |
| Form of Godliness | దైవభక్తి రూపం | daivabhakti rūpaṁ | μόρφωσις εὐσεβείας | High | 3:5 | — | Unlike విశ్వాసం (faith), εὐσέβεια genuinely names devotional piety, so భక్తి-family vocabulary is textually appropriate; risk lies in critique of empty ritual religiosity, requiring careful, non-blanket pastoral framing. |
| Impostors / Deceivers | వంచకులు | vanchakulu | γόητες | Medium | 3:13 | — | — |
| Disqualified concerning the Faith | విశ్వాసము విషయములో తిరస్కరింపబడినవారు | viswāsamu vishayamulō tiraskarimpabaḍinavāru | ἀδόκιμοι περὶ τὴν πίστιν | High | 3:8 | — | Built on [LOCKED] విశ్వాసం. |
| Itching Ears | దురద చెవులు | durada cevulu | κνηθόμενοι τὴν ἀκοήν | Medium | 4:3 | — | Idiom for craving novelty; must not read as literal physical ailment. |
| The Resurrection Already Happened (false teaching) | పునరుత్థానము ఇదివరకే జరిగిపోయిందని చెప్పుట | punarutthānamu idivarakē jarigipōyindani cheppuṭa | ἀνάστασιν ἤδη γεγονέναι | Critical | 2:18 | — | Directly attacks the [LOCKED] Critical resurrection doctrine; inherits baseline’s Critical escalation rule. |
B6. Perseverance under Suffering
| English Term | Telugu | Transliteration | Greek | Risk | Occurrences | Alternatives Rejected | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Endure Suffering / Hardship | కష్టములను సహించు | kashṭamulanu sahin̄chu | κακοπαθέω | Critical | 1:8 (συγκακοπάθησον), 2:3, 4:5 | — | Must render identically at all three occurrences; the letter’s central perseverance verb. |
| Endurance / Steadfastness | సహనం | sahanaṁ | ὑπομονή | High | 3:10 | — | Endurance under circumstance/suffering — distinguish from μακροθυμία below (patience with people). |
| Longsuffering / Forbearance | సహనశీలత | sahanaśīlata | μακροθυμία | Medium | 4:2 | — | Patience specifically toward people/opponents in correction. |
| Persecutions | హింసలు | hinsalu | διωγμοί | Medium | 3:11 | — | — |
| Rescue / Deliver | విడిపించు | viḍipin̄chu | ῥύομαι | High | 3:11, 4:17, 4:18 | — | Paired consistently with named persecutions — God’s rescue as the answer to suffering, not suffering’s avoidance. |
| Be Sober-Minded / Watchful | మెలకువగా ఉండు | mēlakuvagā uṇḍu | νήφω | Medium | 4:5 | — | Contrasted with the confused, appetite-driven false-teaching audience of 4:3-4. |
B7. Assurance of Reward
| English Term | Telugu | Transliteration | Greek | Risk | Occurrences | Alternatives Rejected | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crown of Righteousness | నీతి కిరీటం | nīti kirīṭaṁ | ὁ τῆς δικαιοσύνης στέφανος | Critical | 4:8 | — | Built on [LOCKED] నీతి; must be taught alongside the grace/merit distinction already documented for Romans 4:4-5 and 11:5-6 — a gift from a righteous Judge, not a self-earned trophy. |
| Righteous Judge | నీతిమంతుడైన న్యాయాధిపతి | nītimantuḍaina nyāyādhipati | δίκαιος κριτής | High | 4:8 | — | Grounds reward-language in God’s just character. |
| Will Award / Give (reward) | ప్రతిఫలమిచ్చు | pratiphalamichu | ἀποδίδωμι | Critical | 4:8 | — | Same grace-merit sensitivity as crown of righteousness above; must not imply a cosmic merit-ledger. |
| I Have Fought the Good Fight | మంచి పోరాటము పోరాడితిని | man̄chi pōrāṭamu pōrāḍitini | τὸν καλὸν ἀγῶνα ἠγώνισμαι | High | 4:7 | — | Athletic-contest imagery; signature verse of this doctrine. |
| Finished the Race | నా పరుగును తీర్చితిని | naa parugunu tīrchitini | τὸν δρόμον τετέλεκα | High | 4:7 | — | — |
| Kept the Faith | విశ్వాసమును కాపాడుకొనితిని | viswāsamunu kāpāḍukonitini | τὴν πίστιν τετήρηκα | High | 4:7 | — | Built on [LOCKED] విశ్వాసం + కాపాడు (guard, reused from 1:14). |
| Appearing | ప్రత్యక్షత | pratyakshata | ἐπιφάνεια | Critical | 1:10, 4:1, 4:8 | ఆవిర్భావం, అవతారం | CRITICAL: never అవతారం, given the live Tirupati avatar-descent reference point already documented in the baseline for Incarnation. Names two unique, unrepeatable historical events (first advent, second coming) only. |
| Savior | రక్షకుడు | rakshakuḍu | σωτήρ | Critical | 1:10 | — | Parallels the Critical status of [LOCKED] రక్షణ; never one savior-figure among many. |
B8. Supporting / Narrative Vocabulary (Low-Medium, full-book coverage)
| English Term | Telugu | Transliteration | Greek | Risk | Occurrences | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Promise | వాగ్దానం | vāgdānaṁ | ἐπαγγελία | Medium | 1:1 | — |

| Purpose / Intention | ఉద్దేశము | uddēśamu | πρόθεσις | Medium | 1:9 | Avoid సంకల్పం (Hindu puja ritual-vow term). |
| Imperishability / Immortality | అక్షయత్వం | akshayatvaṁ | ἀφθαρσία | High | 1:10 | Bodily-resurrection-linked; not a moksha-style dissolution of identity. |

Critical Risk Terms
Salvation
Approved rendering: రక్షణ
Transliteration: rakshana
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: మోక్షం, ముక్తి
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. NEVER మోక్షం/ముక్తి. Occurs 2:10, 3:15 — Scripture’s stated purpose (3:15) makes this a load-bearing occurrence for Inspiration/Sufficiency of Scripture.
Resurrection
Approved rendering: పునరుత్థానం
Transliteration: punarutthānam
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ
Rejected alternatives: పునర్జన్మ
Original: ἀνάστασις
Category: Eschatology
Inherited from Romans package. NEVER పునర్జన్మ. Doubly critical here: 2:18 records a named false teaching claiming the resurrection ‘already happened’ — every occurrence and its denial requires theologian review.
Lord
Approved rendering: ప్రభువు
Transliteration: prabhuvu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: స్వామి
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs throughout (1:2, 1:8, 1:16, 1:18, 2:7, 2:19, 2:22, 2:24, 4:8, 4:14, 4:17, 4:18, 4:22).
Jesus
Approved rendering: యేసు
Transliteration: Yēsu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package.
God
Approved rendering: దేవుడు
Transliteration: Dēvuḍu
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: భగవంతుడు
Original: θεός
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. NEVER భగవంతుడు in doctrinally precise contexts.
Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: పరిశుద్ధాత్మ
Transliteration: pariśuddhātma
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: పరమాత్మ, పవిత్రాత్మ
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. NEVER పరమాత్మ. 1:14: the Spirit indwelling Timothy enables guarding the deposit — load-bearing for Faithful Transmission of the Gospel.
Father
Approved rendering: తండ్రి
Transliteration: Tandri
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Rejected alternatives: సృష్టికర్త
Original: πατήρ
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs 1:2.
Christ
Approved rendering: క్రీస్తు
Transliteration: Krīstu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: మెస్సీయ (reserved for explicit OT messianic-promise argumentation, as in Romans 9-11)
Original: Χριστός
Category: Christology
NEW registry entry for this book (not separately keyed in the Romans baseline TM, though the rendering itself is the established Telugu Bible standard). Used overwhelmingly as part of the combined proper name ‘Christ Jesus’/‘Jesus Christ’ throughout 2 Timothy; never switch to మెస్సీయ mid-name.
God Breathed
Approved rendering: దైవప్రేరణ పొందిన
Transliteration: daiva prēraṇa pondina
Doctrine: Inspiration of Scripture
Rejected alternatives: దైవావేశము
Original: θεόπνευστος
Category: Scripture
CRITICAL. NEVER దైవావేశము — ఆవేశం is the everyday word for ecstatic spirit-possession in live village-goddess (Ammavaru) trance worship across Andhra/Telangana; the forbidden term would picture Scripture’s authors as entranced mediums rather than conscious writers superintended by God. Single most load-bearing term in this book (3:16). Requires human theologian sign-off every occurrence.
The Deposit
Approved rendering: నిక్షేపం
Transliteration: nikshēpaṁ
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Rejected alternatives: అప్పగింత
Original: παραθήκη
Category: Doctrine
Religiously neutral banking/treasure word, deliberately chosen to avoid any ritual-offering connotation. Central to both Guarding Sound Doctrine and Faithful Transmission of the Gospel (1:12, 1:14). Requires a mandatory learner-facing gloss at first occurrence (1:12) and theologian review at every occurrence.
Myths Fables
Approved rendering: కల్పిత కథలు
Transliteration: kalpita kathalu
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Rejected alternatives: పుక్కిటిపురాణాలు
Original: μῦθος
Category: Doctrine
CRITICAL. NEVER పుక్కిటిపురాణాలు — this common Telugu idiom for ‘tall tale’ literally contains పురాణం (Purana), the named genre of revered Hindu sacred narrative literature; using it risks equating Paul’s warning with the Puranas specifically. Treat as an absolute forbidden substitution with the same escalation as మోక్షం/అవతారం (4:4).
Resurrection Already Happened
Approved rendering: పునరుత్థానము ఇదివరకే జరిగిపోయిందని చెప్పుట
Transliteration: punarutthānamu idivarakē jarigipōyindani cheppuṭa
Doctrine: The “Resurrection Already Happened” Error
Original: ἀνάστασιν ἤδη γεγονέναι
Category: Apostasy
Named heresy (Hymenaeus, Philetus) directly attacking the CRITICAL locked resurrection doctrine; inherits the baseline’s Critical escalation rule and requires theologian review at every discussion of it (2:18).
Endure Suffering
Approved rendering: కష్టములను సహించు
Transliteration: kashṭamulanu sahin̄chu
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: κακοπαθέω / συγκακοπαθέω
Category: Suffering
The letter’s central perseverance verb; must render identically at all three occurrences (1:8 συγκακοπάθησον, 2:3, 4:5) so the recurring structural charge is visible across the whole book.
Crown Of Righteousness
Approved rendering: నీతి కిరీటం
Transliteration: nīti kirīṭaṁ
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Original: ὁ τῆς δικαιοσύνης στέφανος
Category: Reward
Built on locked నీతి; must always be taught inseparably from the grace/merit distinction documented for Romans 4:4-5, 11:5-6 — a gift from a righteous Judge for a race run in grace-given strength, not a self-earned trophy (4:8).
Will Award
Approved rendering: ప్రతిఫలమిచ్చు
Transliteration: pratiphalamichu
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Rejected alternatives: కర్మఫలం, పుణ్యఫలం
Original: ἀποδίδωμι
Category: Reward
Carries the same grace-merit sensitivity as crown_of_righteousness. Must not imply an impersonal cosmic merit-ledger akin to కర్మఫలం (karma-fruit), a live, everyday framework in Telugu religious vocabulary (4:8). Every occurrence must be accompanied in teaching-facing material by the explicit grace/merit distinction.
Appearing
Approved rendering: ప్రత్యక్షత
Transliteration: pratyakshata
Doctrine: The Appearing of Christ
Rejected alternatives: అవతారం, ఆవిర్భావం
Original: ἐπιφάνεια
Category: Christology
CRITICAL. NEVER అవతారం. Names exactly two definite, unrepeatable, historically anchored events (Christ’s incarnation-arrival, 1:10; his singular future return, 4:1, 4:8), never a repeatable pattern. Must be glossed at first occurrence against Tirupati’s Venkateswara avatar-descent cultural reference point, explicitly naming ‘క్రీస్తు యొక్క మొదటి రాకడ’ and ‘క్రీస్తు యొక్క రెండవ రాకడ’ as the only two referents.
Savior
Approved rendering: రక్షకుడు
Transliteration: rakshakuḍu
Doctrine: The Appearing of Christ
Original: σωτήρ
Category: Christology
Parallels the Critical status of locked రక్షణ; never one savior-figure among many, never linked to మోక్షం/ముక్తి-style deliverance concepts (1:10).
High Risk Terms
Grace
Approved rendering: కృప
Transliteration: kṛpa
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: పుణ్యం, కర్మఫలం
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. In 2 Timothy grace is the source of ministry strength (2:1) and calling (1:9), reinforcing the grace/merit distinction that must also govern 4:8’s reward language.
Righteousness
Approved rendering: నీతి
Transliteration: nīti
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: ధర్మం
Original: δικαιοσύνη
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. Anchors both 3:16’s Scripture-training goal and 4:8’s crown; must not collapse into ధర్మం-family dutiful-conduct vocabulary at either occurrence.
Holy
Approved rendering: పరిశుద్ధ
Transliteration: pariśuddha
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: పవిత్ర, శుద్ధ
Original: ἅγιος
Category: Sanctification
Inherited from Romans package. Locked to పరిశుద్ధ (never పవిత్ర) across 1:9, 1:14, 3:15 for cross-lesson consistency.
Sanctification
Approved rendering: పరిశుద్ధపరచడం
Transliteration: pariśuddhaparachaḍam
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: శుద్ధీకరణ
Original: ἁγιασμός (concept)
Category: Sanctification
Inherited from Romans package. 2:21’s ‘vessel…set apart, useful to the Master’ expresses this concept; keep the sanctification frame visible in surrounding language.
Church
Approved rendering: సంఘము
Transliteration: sanghamu
Doctrine: Church as God’s People
Rejected alternatives: దేవాలయం, సభ
Original: ἐκκλησία (concept)
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans package. Noun does not occur directly, but household/vessel imagery (2:20-21) and ‘faithful men’ chain (2:2) presuppose it; keep సంఘము (never సభ) as background frame.
Sin
Approved rendering: పాపం
Transliteration: pāpam
Doctrine: Universal Human Accountability
Rejected alternatives: అధర్మం
Original: ἁμαρτία
Category: Sin
Inherited from Romans package. 3:6 describes women ‘weighed down with sins’ as targets of false teachers — ties Sin directly to the Apostasy doctrine’s social mechanism.
Glory
Approved rendering: మహిమ
Transliteration: mahima
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: తేజస్సు
Original: δόξα
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs 2:10, 4:18.

Category: Covenant
Inherited from Romans package. Background to the ‘seed of David’ formula in 2:8.
Election
Approved rendering: దేవుని ఏర్పాటు
Transliteration: Dēvuni Ērpāṭu
Doctrine: Effectual Calling
Rejected alternatives: విధి, కర్మ
Original: ἐκλεκτοί
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. 2:10: Paul endures ‘for the sake of the elect’ — ties Perseverance under Suffering to God’s sovereign election, not human merit.
Power Of God
Approved rendering: దేవుని సామర్థ్యం
Transliteration: Dēvuni Sāmarthyam
Doctrine: Power of God for Salvation
Rejected alternatives: శక్తి
Original: δύναμις (θεοῦ)
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. 1:7’s ‘spirit of power’ must render సామర్థ్యం, never శక్తి — same Andhra Pradesh Shakta-tradition (Kanaka Durgamma) risk documented in the baseline.
Seed Of David
Approved rendering: దావీదు వంశములో పుట్టినవాడు
Transliteration: Dāvīdu vamśamulō puṭṭinavāḍu
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Original: σπέρμα Δαυίδ
Category: Covenant
Inherited from Romans package. 2:8 pairs this directly with resurrection (‘remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, of the seed of David’) — a doubly Critical/High combination.
Scripture
Approved rendering: పరిశుద్ధ లేఖనములు
Transliteration: pariśuddha lēkhanamulu
Doctrine: Inspiration of Scripture
Rejected alternatives: గ్రంథము
Original: γραφή / ἱερὰ γράμματα
Category: Scripture
గ్రంథము is also the generic/Hindu-devotional-literature word for a revered book (e.g. Bhagavad Gita); లేఖనము built on locked పరిశుద్ధ is the settled, unambiguous term. Occurs 3:15, 3:16.
Teaching Doctrine
Approved rendering: బోధ
Transliteration: bōdha
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Rejected alternatives: ఉపదేశము
Original: διδασκαλία / διδαχή
Category: Doctrine
ఉపదేశము carries generic guru-instruction connotations. బోధ is the anchor noun for doctrinal content; render identically at 1:13, 3:10, 3:16, 4:2, 4:3.
Man Of God
Approved rendering: దేవుని మనుష్యుడు
Transliteration: Dēvuni manushyuḍu
Doctrine: Sufficiency of Scripture
Rejected alternatives: దైవభక్తుడు
Original: ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ
Category: Ministry
Retains OT prophetic-office title resonance (Moses, Elijah, Samuel); must not soften to generic ‘godly person’ (3:17).
Complete Sufficient
Approved rendering: సంపూర్ణుడు
Transliteration: sampūrṇuḍu
Doctrine: Sufficiency of Scripture
Original: ἄρτιος
Category: Scripture
NT hapax ἄρτιος; states Scripture’s sufficiency directly (3:17) — doctrinal centerpiece distinguishing sufficiency from mere inspiration.
Sound Doctrine
Approved rendering: హితబోధ
Transliteration: hitabōdha
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Rejected alternatives: ఆరోగ్యకరమైన బోధ
Original: ὑγιαίνουσα διδασκαλία / ὑγιαίνοντες λόγοι
Category: Doctrine
హితం (‘benefit/wellbeing’) carries the health metaphor naturally without an awkward literal calque. Must render identically at 1:13 and 4:3; treat as a fixed technical coinage from first occurrence onward — any deviation is an automatic consistency-check failure.
Guard Keep
Approved rendering: కాపాడు
Transliteration: kāpāḍu
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: φυλάσσω / τηρέω
Category: Doctrine
φυλάσσω and τηρέω both rendered from this one Telugu term family for consistency across 1:12, 1:14, and 4:7 (‘I have kept the faith’).
Rightly Handle
Approved rendering: సరిగా వివరించడం
Transliteration: sarigā vivarin̄chaḍaṁ
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Rejected alternatives: ఖండించు
Original: ὀρθοτομέω
Category: Doctrine
ఖండించు is too narrow (‘cut/refute’) and belongs instead to ἔλεγχος; ὀρθοτομέω’s positive, constructive ‘cutting a straight path’ image must not collapse into a purely adversarial reading (2:15).
Sincere Faith
Approved rendering: నిష్కపటమైన విశ్వాసం
Transliteration: nishkapaṭamaina viswāsaṁ
Doctrine: Faithful Transmission of the Gospel
Original: ἀνυπόκριτος πίστις
Category: Faith
Built on locked విశ్వాసం; names the three-generation Lois → Eunice → Timothy transmission model (1:5).
Faithful Men
Approved rendering: విశ్వాసముగల మనుష్యులు
Transliteration: viswāsamugala manushyulu
Doctrine: Faithful Transmission of the Gospel
Original: πιστοὶ ἄνθρωποι
Category: Church
Structural core of the Paul → Timothy → faithful men → others transmission chain (2:2); require all links preserved explicitly in translation, not compressed.
Repentance
Approved rendering: మారుమనస్సు
Transliteration: mārumanassu
Doctrine: Repentance and Restoration of the Erring
Rejected alternatives: పశ్చాత్తాపం
Original: μετάνοια
Category: Salvation
Must convey God-granted change of mind, not self-generated emotional remorse alone (2:25). Never use పశ్చాత్తాపం as the primary rendering.
Preach Proclaim
Approved rendering: ప్రకటించు
Transliteration: prakaṭin̄chu
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Rejected alternatives: ప్రచారం చేయు
Original: κηρύσσω
Category: Ministry
ప్రచారం చేయు is common secular-media register (publicity/political-campaign ‘ప్రచారం’); using it would reduce apostolic proclamation to a marketing act. Anchor verb of the Charge doctrine (4:2); reserve ప్రచారం-family vocabulary only for the already-locked సువార్తా ప్రచారం compound.
Herald Preacher
Approved rendering: ప్రచారకుడు
Transliteration: pracārakuḍu
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Rejected alternatives: గురువు
Original: κῆρυξ
Category: Ministry
Distinguished from a self-attained teaching-guru role, per the baseline’s apostle note (1:11).
Solemnly Charge
Approved rendering: తీవ్రంగా ఆజ్ఞాపించు
Transliteration: tīvraṅgā āgnāpin̄chu
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Original: διαμαρτύρομαι
Category: Ministry
Elevates 4:2’s command to a legally binding charge sworn before God and Christ (4:1); must not be diluted into ordinary encouragement.
Judge Living Dead
Approved rendering: సజీవులకును మృతులకును తీర్పు తీర్చుట
Transliteration: sajīvulakunu mṛtulakunu tīrpu tīrchuṭa
Doctrine: Christ’s Role as Universal Judge

Category: Eschatology
Early creedal formula; feeds directly into Assurance of Reward’s ‘righteous Judge’ (4:1, cf. 4:8).
Last Days
Approved rendering: అంత్యదినములు
Transliteration: antyadinamulu
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: ἔσχαται ἡμέραι

Temporal frame for the entire Apostasy doctrine (3:1); teach as this present, already-inaugurated era, not a distant purely future one.
Turn Away
Approved rendering: వెనుకకు తిరుగు
Transliteration: venukaku tirugu
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: ἀποστρέφω
Category: Apostasy
Core verb-picture of apostasy in this book; render identically wherever it recurs (1:15, 4:4). Keep visually distinct from ἐκτρέπομαι’s ‘turn aside’ below.
Form Of Godliness
Approved rendering: దైవభక్తి రూపం
Transliteration: daivabhakti rūpaṁ
Doctrine: True versus False Godliness
Original: μόρφωσις εὐσεβείας
Category: Apostasy
Unlike విశ్వాసం, εὐσέβεια genuinely names devotional piety, so భక్తి-family vocabulary is textually appropriate. Risk is pastoral, not lexical: requires the mandatory qualifier ‘అంతరంగ మార్పు లేని బాహ్య రూపం మాత్రమే’ (only outward form, without inner transformation) so the critique targets any merely formal religion, never the wider Telugu devotional tradition as such (3:5).
Disqualified Concerning Faith
Approved rendering: విశ్వాసము విషయములో తిరస్కరింపబడినవారు
Transliteration: viswāsamu vishayamulō tiraskarimpabaḍinavāru
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: ἀδόκιμοι περὶ τὴν πίστιν
Category: Apostasy
Direct verdict on false teachers’ standing relative to locked విశ్వాసం itself (3:8).
Endurance
Approved rendering: సహనం
Transliteration: sahanaṁ
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: ὑπομονή
Category: Suffering
Endurance under circumstance/suffering (ὑπομονή); keep distinct from సహనశీలత (μακροθυμία, patience with people, 4:2). Guard against a tapas-style merit-earning self-discipline reading (3:10).
Rescue Deliver
Approved rendering: విడిపించు
Transliteration: viḍipin̄chu
Doctrine: Divine Rescue amid Persecution
Original: ῥύομαι
Category: Suffering
Must be held apart from రక్షణ (salvation): names concrete, this-life deliverances (3:11; 4:17) as well as final deliverance into the kingdom (4:18). Avoid fatalistic idiom that reads as resigned endurance rather than confident expectation of rescue.
Righteous Judge
Approved rendering: నీతిమంతుడైన న్యాయాధిపతి
Transliteration: nītimantuḍaina nyāyādhipati
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Original: δίκαιος κριτής

Transliteration: viswāsamunu kāpāḍukonitini
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Original: τὴν πίστιν τετήρηκα
Category: Reward
Built on locked విశ్వాసం plus కాపాడు (reused from 1:14’s guard-the-deposit language), tying Assurance of Reward back to Faithful Transmission of the Gospel (4:7).
Imperishability
Approved rendering: అక్షయత్వం
Transliteration: akshayatvaṁ
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ
Original: ἀφθαρσία
Category: Eschatology
Must be clearly bodily/resurrection-linked, not read as a moksha-style dissolution of individual identity into an impersonal ultimate reality (1:10).
Drink Offering
Approved rendering: పానార్పణగా అర్పించబడు
Transliteration: pānārpaṇagā arpin̄chabaḍu
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Rejected alternatives: బలి
Original: σπένδομαι
Category: Suffering
Reuse పానార్పణ, the term already established in Telugu OT translation for the Levitical drink offering. AVOID బలి alone, the everyday word for a sacrificial offering strongly associated in Andhra/Telangana folk religion with animal sacrifice to village deities (Gramadevata/Durgamma), an association absent from Paul’s libation image (4:6).

Transliteration: piluvabaḍina
Doctrine: Divine Calling
Rejected alternatives: ఆహ్వానించబడిన
Original: κλητός / κλῆσις
