Core Glossary

Core Glossary — Galatians (English → Fulfulde)

This glossary consolidates every load-bearing theological term identified in analysis/07_semantic_analysis.md, covering Galatians chapters 1–6. Terms already recorded in the baseline Romans translation_memory.json are marked (baseline reuse) and their recorded Fulfulde rendering, risk tier, and doctrine category are carried forward unchanged and MUST be reused exactly. New terms specific to Galatians are marked (NEW) and are proposed for addition to translation memory pending the mandatory reviews noted.

Table 1 — Terms Reused Exactly from Baseline Romans Translation Memory

TermFulfulde RenderingRisk TierDoctrine CategoryFirst Occurrence in GalatiansNote
gospelLinjiilaHighGospel1:6-9, 11; 2:2, 5, 7, 14; 3:8; 4:13Intensified risk in Galatians: the letter’s central polemic is “true gospel vs. false gospel,” compounding the baseline’s tahrif-doctrine caveat
graceArjundeCriticalGrace1:3, 6, 15; 2:9, 21; 5:4; 6:18Galatians 2:21 and 5:4 make the “apart from works” contrast the letter’s explicit thesis; never let default into piety-conditioned or barke-adjacent reading
faithgomɗinalHighFaith1:23; 2:16, 20; 3:2-26; 5:5-6, 22; 6:10Object of faith (Christ) must always be explicit; this book’s density of faith-language exceeds Romans’

Note on forbidden substitutions extended for Galatians: in addition to all forbidden substitutions carried forward from the baseline (rasuulu, barke, jinna/jinnaaji, natal/hasara unqualified, Iisa, Laamiiɗo as primary Lordship term, “nulaaɗo mawɗo”), this curriculum adds the following Galatians-specific forbidden substitutions:

  • NEVER use barke/barka for “the blessing of Abraham” (3:14) — use moƴƴere Ibrahiima.
  • NEVER use dimo/rimɓe (free-born caste term) as the primary rendering for “free/freedom in Christ” (3:28; 5:1, 13) — use daɓɓaaɗo/daɓɓagol.
  • NEVER render “bewitched” (3:1) with vocabulary affirming literal evil-eye witchcraft belief.
  • NEVER render “elemental spirits/principles” (4:3, 9) with jinna/jinnaaji or other spirit-being vocabulary.
  • NEVER use the capitalized Ɓiɗɗo Alla (reserved for Christ’s unique Sonship) for believers’ plural adoptive sonship (3:26; 4:6-7) — use ɓiɓɓe Alla.

Critical Risk Terms

Grace

Approved rendering: Arjunde
Transliteration: arjunde
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: yurmeende (reserve for ‘mercy/compassion’ generally), barke (blessing, avoid as a substitute)
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] arjunde is Arabic-influenced vocabulary shared with Islamic usage, generally understood there as responsive to piety; barke (marabout-associated blessing) must never substitute. GALATIANS EXTENSION: 2:21 and 5:4 make ‘apart from works’ the letter’s explicit thesis (a law-based righteousness would nullify grace and render Christ’s death pointless); this contrast must be stated with maximum explicitness at every occurrence (1:3,6,15; 2:9,21; 5:4; 6:18).

Righteousness

Approved rendering: peewal
Transliteration: peewal
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: nunɗal (fairness/justice, too civic)
Original: δικαιοσύνη
Category: Salvation

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Plausible general-purpose rendering, risks being heard as good moral character rather than a status received by faith. GALATIANS EXTENSION: central to the core passage (2:21; 3:6,21; 5:5); risk tier confirmed Critical for this curriculum given the core passage’s density.

Justification

Approved rendering: waɗugol peewal
Transliteration: waɗugol peewal
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: yaafuyee (forgiveness, too narrow)
Original: δικαίωσις / δικαιοῦσθαι
Category: Salvation

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Descriptive compound required; no crystallized forensic-declaration term exists; must not abbreviate to yaafuyee. GALATIANS EXTENSION: the core passage’s thesis verb, repeated three times in 2:16 alone plus 2:17; 3:8,11,24; 5:4 — the densest concentration in the entire curriculum; every occurrence must be taught with an explicit ‘credited, not earned’ gloss.

Resurrection

Approved rendering: immorde e maayde
Transliteration: immorde e maayde
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ
Rejected alternatives: immorde ka maayde (dialectal variant, confirm regionally)
Original: ἀνάστασις
Category: Eschatology

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Mainstream Sunni interpretation of Quran 4:157 denies the crucifixion occurred at all, directly challenging this claim. GALATIANS EXTENSION: implicit at 1:1 (‘who raised him from the dead’); underlies and compounds the new crucified_with_christ term (2:20; 5:24), doubling the crucifixion-denial risk with a union-in-death concept.

Son Of God

Approved rendering: Ɓiɗɗo Alla
Transliteration: Ɓiɗɗo Alla
Doctrine: Sonship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: nulaaɗo mawɗo (a great messenger, explicit downgrade, rejected)
Original: υἱὸς θεοῦ
Category: Christology

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Direct flashpoint for strict Tawhid doctrine (echoing Quran 112). GALATIANS EXTENSION: occurs at 2:20 (in the very verse describing the believer’s saving trust) and 4:4; MUST be kept sharply distinct from the plural, lower-case ɓiɓɓe Alla used for believers’ adoptive sonship at 3:26 and 4:6-7,28 — conflating the two forms would either wrongly elevate believers or wrongly demote Christ. This capitalization/plurality distinction has no oral-speech reinforcement and must be taught verbally every time (‘Alla’s own unique Son’ vs. ‘God’s many adopted children’).

Messiah

Approved rendering: Almasiihu
Transliteration: Almasiihu
Doctrine: Messianic Promise

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Shared vocabulary with the Quranic Isa al-Masih; must not be mistaken for shared belief. GALATIANS EXTENSION: Kiristu is used as the proper-name component throughout per established regional NT usage (e.g. ‘Yeesu Kiristu’); Almasiihu is retained specifically for explicit messianic-title contexts.

Jesus

Approved rendering: Yeesu
Transliteration: Yeesu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: Iisa (the Quranic Arabic form, reserve only for explicit interfaith-dialogue contexts)
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Never use Iisa in ordinary doctrinal exposition. GALATIANS EXTENSION: risk tier confirmed Critical for this curriculum given the density of Christological argument throughout (2:16,20; 4:4; etc.); consistent use required at every occurrence.

God

Approved rendering: Alla
Transliteration: Alla
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: θεός
Category: God

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Universal shared term across Muslim and Christian Fulfulde speakers, with no viable alternative. GALATIANS EXTENSION: must be presented in explicitly Trinitarian and Christ-centered terms, especially given this book’s Christology-heavy argument (2:20; 4:4-6).

Holy Spirit

Approved rendering: Ruuhu Ceniiɗo
Transliteration: Ruuhu Ceniiɗo
Doctrine: Sanctification / Flesh versus Spirit
Rejected alternatives: ruuhu (never use alone), jinna (never use; a jinn/spirit being in Islamic and West African folk belief)
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Must always be used in full. GALATIANS EXTENSION: this book’s Spirit-theology (3:2-5,14; 4:6,29; 5:5,16-25; 6:1,8,18) is its most extensive outside Romans 8; the fruit-of-the-Spirit component (dimndi Ruuhu Ceniiɗo) must never shorten the Spirit title, and must be kept categorically distinct from the new elemental_spirits term, which must never be confused with jinna/jinnaaji.

Imputed Righteousness

Approved rendering: peewal jibinaangal
Transliteration: peewal jibinaangal
Doctrine: Justification by Faith
Rejected alternatives: peewal ɓaawaangal e golle (righteousness earned by works, the explicit rejected opposite)
Original: ἐλογίσθη αὐτῷ εἰς δικαιοσύνην
Category: Salvation

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Descriptive compound distinguishing credited from earned righteousness; no ready equivalent in Islamic deeds-weighing soteriology. GALATIANS EXTENSION: directly cited at 3:6 (Genesis 15:6), the identical Pauline argument as Romans 4.

Different Gospel

Approved rendering: Linjiila goo, mo wonaa Linjiila tigi
Transliteration: Linjiila goo, mo wonaa Linjiila tigi
Doctrine: The True Gospel versus False Gospels
Rejected alternatives: Linjiila goo alone without the qualifying clause (would reinforce, not refute, Islamic tahrif logic that multiple/varying gospel texts legitimately exist)
Original: ἕτερον εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation

NEW TERM. Galatians 1:6-7. Paul’s heteron/allo wordplay implies there is, strictly, no second true gospel; the clarifying gloss is required to prevent the rendering from being heard as confirming the tahrif doctrine it must actually refute. Mandatory theologian review for every occurrence.

Revelation

Approved rendering: wahayu
Transliteration: wahayu
Doctrine: Revelation and Inspiration in Paul’s Gospel
Original: ἀποκάλυψις / ἀπεκαλύφθη
Category: Church

NEW TERM. Galatians 1:12, 1:16; 3:8, 22. CRITICAL: wahayu is the exact term used across West African Islamic vocabulary for the wahy process by which Muhammad received the Quran. Paul’s claim to have received his gospel ‘through a revelation of Jesus Christ’ therefore uses vocabulary structurally identical to Muhammad’s own prophetic revelation-claim. Must be explicitly taught with a content-and-source contrast (the risen Christ himself, not angelic scripture-dictation) at every occurrence. Mandatory theologian review.

Circumcision

Approved rendering: gaawgol
Transliteration: gaawgol
Doctrine: Circumcision and the New Creation
Rejected alternatives: a rendering that treats the rite itself, rather than compulsion-toward-it-for-salvation, as the target of Paul’s argument
Original: περιτομή / περιτέμνω
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 2:3-5,12; 3:28; 5:2-3,6,11; 6:12-13,15. CRITICAL, unique flashpoint for this book: circumcision is an unquestioned, near-universal cultural-religious rite for virtually all Fulfulde-speaking readers, entirely disconnected from any live works-salvation debate. Paul’s urgency risks either failing to register, or being misheard as an attack on the cultural practice itself. Must be explicitly reframed as ‘any external religious performance-marker added to faith as a salvation-requirement,’ with circumcision as Paul’s historical example, not the curriculum’s target. Mandatory theologian AND native-speaker review for every occurrence.

Bewitched

Approved rendering: eɗon fefindaa
Transliteration: eɗon fefindaa
Doctrine: The True Gospel versus False Gospels
Rejected alternatives: any vocabulary invoking the literal evil eye or sorcery directly (FORBIDDEN)
Original: ἐβάσκανεν
Category: Faith

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:1 (‘who has bewitched you?’). CRITICAL: must not be rendered with vocabulary affirming literal evil-eye/witchcraft belief systems, genuinely live in West African folk religion, often syncretized with both Islamic and traditional practice. The non-literal, clearly rhetorical rendering (‘you have been deceived/tricked’) must be used and explicitly flagged as figurative in any teaching material. Mandatory theologian review.

Blessing Of Abraham

Approved rendering: moƴƴere Ibrahiima
Transliteration: moƴƴere Ibrahiima
Doctrine: The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise
Rejected alternatives: barke/barka (marabout/Sufi-associated blessing/spiritual power, FORBIDDEN)
Original: ἡ εὐλογία τοῦ Ἀβραάμ
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:14. CRITICAL forbidden-term collision: the natural cognate root barke/barka is explicitly forbidden elsewhere in this package (see grace, power_of_god, spiritual_gifts) and must never be used here either. moƴƴere Ibrahiima keeps this concept distinct from both Arjunde (grace) and barke. Mandatory theologian review; must never be sung or taught in cadences borrowed from marabout-praise genres, which would imply a person-mediated blessing-channel rather than blessing flowing directly from God through Christ by faith.

Becoming A Curse For Us

Approved rendering: wontii alaa’ana wonande amen
Transliteration: wontii alaa’ana wonande amen
Doctrine: The Law’s Purpose
Rejected alternatives: Christ merely ‘bearing/suffering under’ a curse (can be misread as Christ’s own guilt rather than imputed guilt on believers’ behalf)
Original: γενόμενος…κατάρα
Category: Salvation

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:13. CRITICAL: directly dependent on the crucifixion’s historicity (denied by mainstream Sunni interpretation of Quran 4:157) and on a substitutionary framework foreign to Islamic soteriology’s deeds-weighing model. The ‘for us’/substitutionary preposition must be explicitly retained, not flattened into mere causal suffering. Mandatory theologian review.

Elemental Spirits

Approved rendering: hujjaaji ndeeraaɗi aduna / doole aduna
Transliteration: hujjaaji ndeeraaɗi aduna / doole aduna
Doctrine: The Law’s Purpose
Rejected alternatives: jinna/jinnaaji (jinn spirit-beings, FORBIDDEN), any ancestral or nature-spirit vocabulary recognized in West African folk religion
Original: στοιχεῖα τοῦ κόσμου
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 4:3, 9. CRITICAL: must not be rendered with, or confused with, jinna/jinnaaji (already forbidden elsewhere in this package for holy_spirit) or any language suggesting ancestral/nature-spirit powers, a live category for many readers regardless of formal religious identity. Must be taught explicitly as impersonal enslaving religious principles (Jewish law-observance and Gentile idol-worship alike), not spirit-beings. Mandatory theologian review for every occurrence.

Slave

Approved rendering: maccuɗo
Transliteration: maccuɗo
Doctrine: Freedom in Christ
Rejected alternatives: euphemistic avoidance of the term entirely (would under-translate Paul’s argument, a documented tendency in regional oral Bible-teaching practice)
Original: δοῦλος
Category: Freedom

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:28; 4:1,7,22-25,30; 5:1. CRITICAL, unique Fulani cultural collision: maccuɗo (plural maccuɓe) names not only the biblical/generic category but the real, historically entrenched Fulani social caste of slave-descended persons, still socially salient in many communities, reinforced under Fulani-led states including the Sokoto Caliphate. Paul’s theological slave/son contrast risks being heard as commentary on actual social status and ancestry. The curriculum must state explicitly and repeatedly that this is a spiritual condition applicable to every person regardless of actual social/ancestral status. Mandatory theologian AND native-speaker review for every occurrence.

Free Freeborn

Approved rendering: daɓɓaaɗo
Transliteration: daɓɓaaɗo
Doctrine: Freedom in Christ
Rejected alternatives: dimo/rimɓe (free-born noble caste term, FORBIDDEN as the rendering for ‘free in Christ’)
Original: ἐλεύθερος
Category: Freedom

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:28; 4:22-31; 5:1. CRITICAL, paired directly with ‘slave’: dimo/rimɓe names the real free-born noble caste in Fulani society, carrying strong associations of inherited social honor (teddungal). Using dimo would risk implying spiritual freedom confirms free-born caste status, or would flatter rimɓe-background readers while further stigmatizing maccuɓe-descended readers. The neutral, non-caste daɓɓaaɗo (‘one released/set free’) must be used instead; dimo/rimɓe is reserved strictly for its ordinary social-caste sense outside Scripture translation. Mandatory theologian AND native-speaker review.

Hagar Sarah Ishmael Isaac

Approved rendering: Hajara, Sara, Ismaa’iila, Isaaka
Transliteration: Hajara, Sara, Ismaa’iila, Isaaka
Doctrine: The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise / Adoption and Sonship
Original: Ἁγάρ, Σάρρα, Ἰσμαήλ, Ἰσαάκ
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 4:21-31. CRITICAL: Ismaa’iila (Ishmael) is a figure of major independent theological significance in Islam, understood there as a righteous prophet and ancestor of the Arabs, and claimed ancestrally by some Fulani genealogical traditions. Paul’s allegory casts Ishmael’s line as bondage/law and Isaac’s line as promise/freedom, directly inverting the covenantal significance Islamic tradition assigns to Ishmael. Must be taught with direct, careful explanation of Paul’s allegorical (not historical-judgmental) method — this is a typological argument about two covenants, not a statement about Ishmael’s person or descendants’ worth. Mandatory theologian review.

Freedom

Approved rendering: daɓɓagol
Transliteration: daɓɓagol
Doctrine: Freedom in Christ
Rejected alternatives: any noun built on dimo/rimɓe (free-born caste root, FORBIDDEN)
Original: ἐλευθερία
Category: Freedom

NEW TERM. Galatians 5:1, 13. CRITICAL, tied directly to the slave/free caste-memory risk. Must be taught as freedom from sin and the law’s condemnation, granted to all believers regardless of ethnic-caste background, explicitly guarding against being heard as a spiritualized restatement of free-born social privilege. Mandatory theologian and native-speaker review.

Yoke Of Slavery

Approved rendering: kaɓirgal maccanteeri
Transliteration: kaɓirgal maccanteeri
Doctrine: Freedom in Christ
Rejected alternatives: a weakened ‘burden/heavy load’ term (loses the specific slavery image, observed in some cognate-dialect editions)
Original: ζυγῷ δουλείας
Category: Freedom

NEW TERM. Galatians 5:1. Same caste-sensitivity caution as ‘slave’ and ‘freedom’ above. The agricultural-harness ‘yoke’ image is a strong, positive point of natural resonance for a pastoralist/agro-pastoral culture and may be retained, provided the slavery vocabulary (maccanteeri) is handled with the mandatory caste-sensitivity framing. Both under-translation (losing force) and over-translation (causing offense) risks must be held in view simultaneously.

Crucified With Christ

Approved rendering: mi bardaa wondude e Almasiihu
Transliteration: mi bardaa wondude e Almasiihu
Doctrine: Crucified with Christ
Rejected alternatives: a vaguer causal paraphrase such as ‘died because of me’ (loses the union-with-Christ sense, observed in some cognate-dialect editions)
Original: Χριστῷ συνεσταύρωμαι
Category: Christology

NEW TERM. Galatians 2:20 (parallel construction at 5:24, ‘crucified the flesh’). CRITICAL: no crystallized single Fulfulde term exists for this compound Pauline mystical-union concept. This doubles the baseline’s crucifixion-denial risk (Quran 4:157) with the additional claim that the believer was co-crucified with Christ, a category wholly absent from Islamic soteriology’s deeds-weighing framework. ‘Christ lives in me’ (the verse’s positive counterpart) must also be kept distinct from spirit-possession categories familiar from West African folk religion, since this is personal indwelling by the divine Christ, not possession by a spirit-being. Mandatory theologian review before use in any curriculum material.

Gave Himself For Me

Approved rendering: jonni hoore-makko wonande am
Transliteration: jonni hoore-makko wonande am
Doctrine: Crucified with Christ
Rejected alternatives: a generic ‘helped me’ or ‘died because of me’ softening (loses substitutionary content)
Original: παραδόντος ἑαυτὸν ὑπὲρ ἐμοῦ
Category: Christology

NEW TERM. Galatians 2:20. Substitutionary atonement has no equivalent framework in Islamic soteriology; this personal, substitutionary claim must be stated plainly, not softened toward a generic assistance-language gloss. Mandatory theologian review.

Sorcery

Approved rendering: sihira
Transliteration: sihira
Doctrine: Flesh versus Spirit
Original: φαρμακεία
Category: Sin

NEW TERM. Galatians 5:20. CRITICAL, direct engagement with a real, live practice. sihira is a genuine point of doctrinal agreement with Islamic condemnation of sihr, but the curriculum must connect it explicitly to the gris-gris/amulet/marabout-mediated spiritual-power practices already flagged elsewhere in this package (see grace, power_of_god, spiritual_gifts notes) as a real, active regional concern. Mandatory theologian review.

Crucified The Flesh

Approved rendering: bardu ɓalndu bakkaatu
Transliteration: bardu ɓalndu bakkaatu
Doctrine: Crucified with Christ / Flesh versus Spirit
Original: τὴν σάρκα ἐσταύρωσαν
Category: Sanctification

NEW TERM. Galatians 5:24. Carries forward both the crucifixion-denial risk already flagged for crucified_with_christ and the flesh/ɓalndu bakkaatu ambiguity risk of flesh_moral, since it combines both terms; those who belong to Christ have already decisively broken the flesh’s controlling power.

Offense Of The Cross

Approved rendering: hersende bardi Almasiihu
Transliteration: hersende bardi Almasiihu
Doctrine: The Offense of the Cross
Original: τὸ σκάνδαλον τοῦ σταυροῦ
Category: Christology

NEW TERM. Galatians 5:11; 6:12,14. CRITICAL: intersects two major risk axes simultaneously — the crucifixion’s contested historicity under mainstream Sunni interpretation of Quran 4:157, and Pulaaku’s strong honor-shame framework (teddungal/semteende), under which a message centered on a crucified, and therefore in many traditional honor-cultures deeply shameful, savior collides directly with cultural expectations about honor and dignity. Must be taught directly, as Paul himself does, rather than smoothed over. Mandatory theologian review.

High Risk Terms

Gospel

Approved rendering: Linjiila
Transliteration: Linjiila
Doctrine: Gospel
Rejected alternatives: kabaaru moƴƴo (acceptable as an explanatory gloss, ‘good news’)
Original: εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Linjiila (from Arabic al-Injil via existing regional Bible translation work) is the term used in existing Fulfulde/Pular NT translations; recognition varies by dialect and by whether a reader’s exposure has been Islamic (tahrif doctrine, corrupted scripture) or Christian. GALATIANS EXTENSION: risk intensified because the letter’s entire argument turns on ‘true gospel vs. false gospel’ (1:6-9); Paul’s claim there is no second true gospel must be taught as the reverse of tahrif logic, not a confirmation of it.

Faith

Approved rendering: gomɗinal
Transliteration: gomɗinal
Doctrine: Faith
Rejected alternatives: hoolaare (trust, acceptable as a supporting synonym)
Original: πίστις
Category: Faith

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Can default to confessional religious identity (assumed Islamic) rather than personal saving trust in Christ; object of faith must always be explicit. GALATIANS EXTENSION: this book’s density of faith-language (2:16,20; 3:2-26; 5:5-6,22; 6:10) exceeds Romans; every occurrence must anchor the object as Yeesu Kiristu specifically.

Apostle

Approved rendering: nulaaɗo
Transliteration: nulaaɗo
Doctrine: Apostleship
Rejected alternatives: rasuulu (never use; reserved for Muhammad as ‘the Messenger’)
Original: ἀπόστολος
Category: Church

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Deliberately native-rooted to avoid rasuulu. GALATIANS EXTENSION: 1:1 and 1:11-12’s direct-commissioning claims are the structural feature most likely to invite comparison to Muhammad’s prophetic claim; nulaaɗo must be maintained with zero exceptions across 1:1,17,19; 2:8.

Sanctification

Approved rendering: ceniinde
Transliteration: ceniinde
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: laaɓal (ritual/ceremonial purification, avoid as a substitute)
Original: ἁγιασμός
Category: Sanctification

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Not yet crystallized across dialects; must be kept distinct from laaɓal. GALATIANS EXTENSION: central to Galatians 5:16-25’s Flesh-vs-Spirit doctrine, the book’s most extensive Spirit-theology outside Romans 8.

Lord

Approved rendering: Joom
Transliteration: Joom
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: Laamiiɗo (reserve for ‘ruler/king’ in political contexts; avoid as primary term to prevent conflation with Sokoto Caliphate rulership)
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Joom preferred over Laamiiɗo to prevent political-authority conflation. GALATIANS EXTENSION: occurs at 1:3; 6:14,18; consistency with Romans’ rendering pattern required at every occurrence.

Law

Approved rendering: sariya
Transliteration: sariya
Doctrine: Law and Grace / The Law’s Purpose
Original: νόμος
Category: Covenant

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] An Arabic-derived term sharing its root with ‘Sharia’. GALATIANS EXTENSION: risk ELEVATED from the baseline Romans Medium tier to High for this book, given Galatians’ sustained, central argument about the law’s limited, temporary purpose (2:16-21; 3:2-25; 4:4-5,21; 5:3-4,14,18,23; 6:2,13) — more doctrinally load-bearing here than in Romans. This fence must be maintained more vigilantly than in Romans: every occurrence must be taught with explicit reference to the Mosaic covenant’s time-bound redemptive-historical role, distinguished from Sharia’s self-understanding as a permanent, comprehensive life-code.

Sin

Approved rendering: bakkaatu
Transliteration: bakkaatu
Doctrine: Universal Human Accountability
Rejected alternatives: fenaande (mistake/lie, too weak)
Original: ἁμαρτία
Category: Sin

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Well-established Arabic-derived term shared with Islamic usage. GALATIANS EXTENSION: occurs at 1:4; 2:17; 3:22; underlies the new disambiguating compound ɓalndu bakkaatu (‘flesh of sin’) developed for the moral sense of ‘flesh’ in chapter 5.

Power Of God

Approved rendering: doole Alla
Transliteration: doole Alla
Doctrine: Power of God for Salvation
Rejected alternatives: barke (marabout-associated spiritual power/blessing, never use)
Original: δύναμις θεοῦ
Category: God

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Categorically distinct from barke, sought via amulets/blessed objects from marabouts. GALATIANS EXTENSION: underlies 3:5 (‘works miracles among you’); connect explicitly to the sihira (sorcery) warning of 5:20 as the same live concern from the opposite direction.

Covenant

Approved rendering: alkawal
Transliteration: alkawal
Doctrine: The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise
Original: διαθήκη
Category: Covenant

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Used in existing Fulfulde NT translation titles (e.g. ‘Alkawal Kesol’, New Covenant). GALATIANS EXTENSION: risk ELEVATED from the baseline Romans Medium tier to High for this book, given chapters 3-4’s extended two-covenant argument (promise vs. law; Sarah vs. Hagar), more doctrinally load-bearing here than in Romans (3:15,17; 4:24).

Let Him Be Accursed

Approved rendering: yo o wonu on beddaaɗo
Transliteration: yo o wonu on beddaaɗo
Doctrine: The True Gospel versus False Gospels
Rejected alternatives: a softened ‘let him be rejected/refused’ (loses Paul’s full denunciatory force, observed in some cognate-dialect NT editions)
Original: ἀνάθεμα ἔστω
Category: Salvation

NEW TERM. Galatians 1:8-9, repeated twice for emphasis. Full curse-pronouncement force must be retained. Must be explicitly taught as distinct from Islamic takfir practice: Paul curses a false message, not a person’s categorical salvation/apostasy status.

Zealous Zeal

Approved rendering: ɓittiindo wonande aada makko
Transliteration: ɓittiindo wonande aada makko
Doctrine: Paul’s Apostleship
Original: ζηλωτής / ζῆλος
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 1:14. Powerful, double-edged testimony bridge: Paul’s former zeal for ancestral religious tradition closely parallels the intense devotion many Fulfulde-speaking readers hold toward Islamic scholarly tradition and Sharia observance. Must be taught as the redirection, not repudiation, of zeal as a virtue — readers should see the conversion, not identify with Paul’s former zeal as commendable in itself.

To Compel

Approved rendering: forsude
Transliteration: forsude
Doctrine: Circumcision and the New Creation
Original: ἀναγκάζω
Category: Church

NEW TERM. Galatians 2:3, 2:14, 6:12. Pairs directly with ‘circumcision’: the compulsion, not the rite itself, is the theological problem Paul addresses, and this distinction must be made explicit in teaching.

Redeem

Approved rendering: soodi
Transliteration: soodi
Doctrine: The Law’s Purpose
Original: ἐξαγοράζω
Category: Salvation

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:13, 4:5. Positive cultural bridge via historical slave-ransoming/manumission practice known in the region, giving unusual concrete resonance; the substitutionary mechanism (‘becoming a curse for us’) must still be explicitly taught, since it has no equivalent in Islamic atonement-free soteriology.

Seed Of Abraham

Approved rendering: geɗal Ibrahiima
Transliteration: geɗal Ibrahiima
Doctrine: The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise
Original: σπέρμα
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:16, 19, 29. Paul’s singular/plural wordplay (a single ‘seed’ fulfilled in Christ alone) is a subtle exegetical point a Fulfulde plural-marking noun class may obscure. Abrahamic lineage claims are also central to Islamic self-understanding via Ishmael, a real point of contact requiring the letter’s specific ‘one seed, fulfilled in Christ alone’ point to be taught explicitly, not assumed shared. Theologian review required.

Guardian Tutor

Approved rendering: reenoowo sariya
Transliteration: reenoowo sariya
Doctrine: The Law’s Purpose
Rejected alternatives: a literal slave-status noun for paidagōgos (avoided due to direct collision with the maccuɓe/rimɓe caste-memory risk axis)
Original: παιδαγωγός
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:24-25. A literal paidagōgos was a household slave-guardian; reenoowo sariya (‘the law’s watcher/guardian’) deliberately avoids any slave-status noun while carrying the doctrinally central point that the law’s guardianship was temporary and preparatory, contrasting directly with the Islamic understanding of Sharia as a permanent, comprehensive life-code. Mandatory theologian review.

Children Of God

Approved rendering: ɓiɓɓe Alla
Transliteration: ɓiɓɓe Alla
Doctrine: Adoption and Sonship
Rejected alternatives: the capitalized Ɓiɗɗo Alla (reserved exclusively for Christ’s unique Sonship, FORBIDDEN for this sense)
Original: υἱοὶ θεοῦ / τέκνα θεοῦ
Category: Salvation

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:26; 4:6-7, 28. Believers’ corporate, adoptive sonship through faith, distinct from Christ’s unique divine Sonship. Must use the plural, lower-case form; conflating with Ɓiɗɗo Alla would either wrongly elevate believers to Christ’s unique status or wrongly demote Christ’s Sonship. This distinction must be enforced in every written and spoken occurrence without exception.

Flesh Moral

Approved rendering: ɓalndu bakkaatu
Transliteration: ɓalndu bakkaatu
Doctrine: Flesh versus Spirit
Rejected alternatives: bare ɓalndu without the disambiguating compound (bleeds the moral-adversarial sense into ordinary neutral body-talk)
Original: σάρξ
Category: Sanctification

NEW TERM. Galatians 5:13, 16-17, 19, 24; 6:8. The same Fulfulde noun ɓalndu covers both the neutral physical-body sense (used at 2:20 for ‘in the flesh’ = mortal life) and this fallen, self-oriented-nature moral sense, creating ambiguity absent from any crystallized existing Fulfulde theological term. The disambiguating compound ɓalndu bakkaatu (‘flesh of sin’) is reserved specifically for the Pauline dualistic sense. Mandatory theologian confirmation.

Works Of The Flesh

Approved rendering: golle ɓalndu bakkaatu
Transliteration: golle ɓalndu bakkaatu
Doctrine: Flesh versus Spirit
Original: τὰ ἔργα τῆς σαρκός
Category: Sanctification

NEW TERM. Galatians 5:19-21. Parallel compound structure to golle sariya (‘works of the law’); the vice-catalogue flowing from the flesh-nature, structurally contrasted with the Fruit of the Spirit.

Fruit Of The Spirit

Approved rendering: dimndi Ruuhu Ceniiɗo
Transliteration: dimndi Ruuhu Ceniiɗo
Doctrine: Fruit of the Spirit
Rejected alternatives: bare ruuhu for the Spirit component (never use)
Original: ὁ…καρπὸς τοῦ Πνεύματος
Category: Sanctification

NEW TERM. Galatians 5:22-23. The Holy Spirit component must always appear in full (Ruuhu Ceniiɗo) per the standing baseline rule. The deliberate grammatical singular in Greek (‘fruit,’ not ‘fruits’), emphasizing unified character over a checklist, should be preserved in teaching where possible.

Patience Fruit

Approved rendering: munyal
Transliteration: munyal
Doctrine: Fruit of the Spirit
Rejected alternatives: presenting munyal as a self-achieved cultural virtue without Spirit-given qualification
Original: μακροθυμία
Category: Sanctification

NEW TERM. Galatians 5:22. HIGH cultural-collision risk: munyal is one of the four core pillars of Pulaaku (alongside semteende, hakkille, teddungal), a deeply prized pre-Christian pastoralist virtue of stoic endurance. Using munyal risks collapsing the Spirit’s supernatural, grace-given fruit into an already-achievable cultural-ethical ideal cultivated through Pulaaku upbringing. Must be explicitly taught as Spirit-given, not self-achieved through cultural discipline, even while the word itself is reused for its natural resonance. Mandatory theologian review.

Self Control Fruit

Approved rendering: hakkille
Transliteration: hakkille
Doctrine: Fruit of the Spirit
Rejected alternatives: jogaade hoore-mum (more neutral descriptive alternative, pending confirmation of whether it better avoids the Pulaaku-collision risk than hakkille)
Original: ἐγκράτεια
Category: Sanctification

NEW TERM. Galatians 5:23. Possible collision with Pulaaku’s hakkille pillar (wisdom/self-mastery), risking the same cultural-achievement conflation as munyal above. Theologian AND native-speaker review required to confirm whether hakkille or the more neutral descriptive jogaade hoore-mum is preferred before final lock.

New Creation

Approved rendering: tagu kesu
Transliteration: tagu kesu
Doctrine: Circumcision and the New Creation
Rejected alternatives: a looser ‘new person/life’ gloss (loses the cosmic-creational, not merely personal-renewal, scope of Paul’s claim)
Original: καινὴ κτίσις
Category: Salvation

NEW TERM. Galatians 6:15. No crystallized single Fulfulde theological term exists, consistent with the thinner translation tradition documented for incarnation/resurrection in the baseline. Must be distinguished from mere self-improvement or renewal of the old nature. Mandatory theologian confirmation.

Israel Of God

Approved rendering: Israa’iila Alla
Transliteration: Israa’iila Alla
Doctrine: The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise
Original: ὁ Ἰσραὴλ τοῦ Θεοῦ
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 6:16. Paul’s climactic redefinition of covenant identity by the new-creation principle rather than ethnicity or circumcision; requires OT covenant-history grounding for readers whose independent knowledge of Israel’s covenant narrative likely comes through the Quranic account. Handle with the same care as the unity_of_jews_and_gentiles doctrine.

Works Of The Law

Approved rendering: golle sariya
Transliteration: golle sariya
Doctrine: Justification by Faith / Law and Grace
Rejected alternatives: golle moƴƴe (generic ‘good deeds’, erases Paul’s specific target of Torah-observance-as-covenant-badge)
Original: ἔργα νόμου
Category: Salvation

NEW TERM. Galatians 2:16; 3:2,5,10. The single most theologically load-bearing new compound in the book — the specific target of Paul’s central polemic. Given Fulani Islamic scholarly tradition’s deep engagement with Sharia (sharing the same root as sariya) as a total legal-religious life-code, readers may default to hearing golle sariya as general good works, or may rightly hear an implicit parallel to Sharia-observance-based righteousness — a parallel Paul’s argument actually supports drawing out but which must be taught explicitly, not left implicit. Mandatory theologian review.

All Flesh

Approved rendering: neɗɗo kala
Transliteration: neɗɗo kala
Doctrine: Justification by Faith
Rejected alternatives: ɓalndu kala (literal ‘all bodies/flesh’, misleads toward a bodily/physical reading rather than the intended Hebraic universal-humanity idiom)
Original: πᾶσα σάρξ
Category: Salvation

NEW TERM. Galatians 2:16 (‘no one will be justified by works of the law’, Hebraism echoing Psalm 143:2). Must be rendered idiomatically as ‘every person,’ not literally with ɓalndu. Mandatory theologian confirmation of the idiomatic choice.

Medium Risk Terms

Called

Approved rendering: noddaaɗo
Transliteration: noddaaɗo
Doctrine: Divine Calling
Rejected alternatives: torraaɗo (invited, too weak)

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Context-sensitive across apostleship/sainthood/salvation senses. GALATIANS EXTENSION: 1:6 (called to grace), 1:15 (called to apostleship), 5:8 (calling that led you), 5:13 (called to freedom) — confirm regional currency of the ‘calling to freedom’ sense specifically.

Calling

Approved rendering: noddaandi
Transliteration: noddaandi
Doctrine: Divine Calling

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Noun form for the act/state of being called; no competing Fulani traditional-religion concept identified. GALATIANS EXTENSION: occurs at 1:6, 1:15, 5:8, 5:13; confirm dialectal currency for the freedom-calling sense (5:13) with native speakers.

Holy

Approved rendering: ceniiɗo
Transliteration: ceniiɗo
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: laaɓɗo (physically clean, reserve for ritual/physical cleanliness only)
Original: ἅγιος
Category: Sanctification

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Must be kept distinct from laaɓɗo (ritual/physical cleanliness relevant to Islamic wuduu). GALATIANS EXTENSION: no direct adjectival occurrence in Galatians, but doctrinally underlies the Fruit of the Spirit / Flesh-vs-Spirit material of chapter 5.

Adoption

Approved rendering: jaɓugol wonande ɓiɗɗo
Transliteration: jaɓugol wonande ɓiɗɗo
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Original: υἱοθεσία
Category: Salvation

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Descriptive compound; formal legal adoption unfamiliar in Fulani pastoralist kinship structures. GALATIANS EXTENSION: Galatians 4:1-7 is the fuller doctrinal exposition of this term (more developed than Romans 8:15-17) and must explicitly teach the full inheritance-rights sense, not merely assume it.

Peace

Approved rendering: jam
Transliteration: jam
Doctrine: Peace with God
Rejected alternatives: deeƴre (calm/stillness, too passive/psychological)
Original: εἰρήνη
Category: Salvation

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Deeply established, high-frequency daily-greeting word; must be distinguished from the specific relational, judicial peace with God through justification. GALATIANS EXTENSION: occurs at 1:3, 5:22 (fruit of the Spirit), 6:16.

Spiritual Gifts

Approved rendering: dokkal Ruuhu
Transliteration: dokkal Ruuhu
Doctrine: Spiritual Gifts
Rejected alternatives: barke (Sufi-associated blessing/spiritual power, avoid as a substitute)
Original: χαρίσματα
Category: Church

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Never barke. GALATIANS EXTENSION: no direct occurrence but conceptually parallel to the Fruit of the Spirit developed at 5:22-23; retained for cross-document consistency.

Church

Approved rendering: kawtal
Transliteration: kawtal
Doctrine: Church as God’s People
Rejected alternatives: moosaale (mosque, never use)
Original: ἐκκλησία
Category: Church

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Native-rooted ‘gathering’ term, distinct from moosaale. GALATIANS EXTENSION: occurs at 1:2, 1:22; must be understood as the whole people of God, not narrowed to a single congregation.

Gentiles

Approved rendering: leƴƴi goo
Transliteration: leƴƴi goo
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
Original: ἔθνη
Category: Church

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Descriptive, non-pejorative rendering. GALATIANS EXTENSION: recurs throughout the Jew/Gentile table-fellowship controversy of chapter 2 (2:2-3,8-9,12,14-15) and 3:8,14.

Glory

Approved rendering: manaango
Transliteration: manaango
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: teddungal (reserve for human honor/dignity in Pulaaku contexts; never the primary term for God’s glory)
Original: δόξα
Category: God

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] teddungal must never substitute. GALATIANS EXTENSION: occurs in the opening doxology (1:5) and closing (6:14, conceptually).

Election

Approved rendering: suɓagol
Transliteration: suɓagol
Doctrine: Effectual Calling
Rejected alternatives: natal (fate/lot, use with caution)
Original: ἐκλογή / ἀφορίσας
Category: Salvation

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] natal (tied to al-qadar) is a legitimate parallel concept but must be introduced only with explicit definition. GALATIANS EXTENSION: occurs at 1:15 (‘set apart from my mother’s womb’), echoing prophetic call-narratives; reinforces Paul’s divinely-originated apostleship.

Israel

Approved rendering: Israa’iila
Transliteration: Israa’iila
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
Original: Ἰσραήλ
Category: Covenant

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Distinguish the biblical covenant referent from the modern political nation-state. GALATIANS EXTENSION: underlies the new climactic compound Israa’iila Alla (‘the Israel of God’, 6:16), Paul’s redefinition of covenant identity by the new-creation principle rather than ethnicity or circumcision.

Father

Approved rendering: Baaba
Transliteration: Baaba
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Original: πατήρ
Category: God

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Standard and doctrinally clear, resonating with Fulani family/lineage values. GALATIANS EXTENSION: occurs at 1:1,3,4; 4:2,6.

Abba

Approved rendering: Abba
Transliteration: Abba
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Original: Ἀββά
Category: God

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Aramaic intimacy term, paired with Baaba. GALATIANS EXTENSION: occurs at 4:6, the Spirit-given cry of adopted sonship; must be paired with Baaba exactly as in the baseline Romans 8:15 pattern.

Seed Of David

Approved rendering: geɗal Daawuda
Transliteration: geɗal Daawuda
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Original: σπέρμα Δαυίδ
Category: Covenant

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Descriptive phrase resonating with Fulani lineage/genealogy emphasis. GALATIANS EXTENSION: not directly occurring in Galatians but retained for cross-reference consistency; the pattern is extended to the new term geɗal Ibrahiima (‘seed of Abraham’, 3:16,19,29).

Judaism

Approved rendering: diine Yahuudiyankooɓe
Transliteration: diine Yahuudiyankooɓe
Doctrine: Paul’s Apostleship (background)
Original: Ἰουδαϊσμός
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 1:13-14. Must not be presented as structurally identical to Islam merely because both are law-observant monotheisms; the letter’s argument concerns the Mosaic covenant specifically.

Truth Of The Gospel

Approved rendering: goonga Linjiila
Transliteration: goonga Linjiila
Doctrine: The True Gospel versus False Gospels
Original: ἀλήθεια τοῦ εὐαγγελίου
Category: Salvation

NEW TERM. Galatians 2:5, 2:14. New compound (goonga, ‘truth’ + Linjiila); the gospel’s unmixed content Paul insists must be preserved against Judaizing pressure.

False Brothers

Approved rendering: musiɗɓe fenaaɓe
Transliteration: musiɗɓe fenaaɓe
Doctrine: The True Gospel versus False Gospels
Original: ψευδάδελφοι
Category: Church

NEW TERM. Galatians 2:4. Descriptive compound naming infiltrators posing as genuine believers who sought to undermine the Jerusalem church’s gospel freedom.

Hypocrisy

Approved rendering: naafiki
Transliteration: naafiki
Doctrine: Law and Grace (background)
Original: ὑπόκρισις
Category: Church

NEW TERM. Galatians 2:13. Arabic-derived, shared with the recognized Islamic ethical category of nifāq; a genuine point of contact usable as a bridge if the specific Galatians context (compromising gospel truth under social pressure) is made explicit.

Scripture

Approved rendering: Deftere Senaande
Transliteration: Deftere Senaande
Doctrine: The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise
Original: ἡ γραφή
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:8, 3:22. Consistent with baseline doctrine-registry usage under Inspiration of Scripture; tahrif-doctrine sensitivity from the baseline applies here, as Scripture is personified as an active agent foreseeing and announcing the gospel to Abraham.

Curse

Approved rendering: alaa’ana
Transliteration: alaa’ana
Doctrine: The Law’s Purpose
Original: κατάρα
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:10, 3:13. Arabic-derived, shared with Islamic la’na — genuine shared vocabulary, but the specific substitutionary content (Christ becoming a curse in the place of others) has no Islamic theological parallel and must be taught explicitly, not assumed understood from the shared word.

Promise

Approved rendering: fodoore
Transliteration: fodoore
Doctrine: The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise
Original: ἐπαγγελία
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:14-22, 29; 4:23, 28. Reuses the established baseline pattern from ‘fodoore Almasiihu’ (messianic promise); God’s covenantal pledge to Abraham, prior to and unaltered by the later giving of the law.

Baptized Into Christ

Approved rendering: lootaa e Almasiihu
Transliteration: lootaa e Almasiihu
Doctrine: Adoption and Sonship
Rejected alternatives: equating with Islamic ritual ablution (wuduu/ghusl)
Original: εἰς Χριστὸν ἐβαπτίσθητε
Category: Church

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:27. Ritual immersion marking incorporation into Christ; must be kept distinct from repeated ritual purification, which this is not — it is a one-time incorporation rite.

Heir

Approved rendering: donaajo
Transliteration: donaajo
Doctrine: The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise / Adoption and Sonship
Original: κληρονόμος
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 3:29; 4:1, 7. Positive cultural bridge, since inheritance (especially of cattle and lineage standing) is deeply significant in Fulani pastoralist culture; must clarify the inheritance in view is the promise/kingdom, not physical property, to avoid conflation with customary inheritance disputes.

Fullness Of Time

Approved rendering: nde yontere timmi
Transliteration: nde yontere timmi
Doctrine: The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise
Original: τὸ πλήρωμα τοῦ χρόνου
Category: Christology

NEW TERM. Galatians 4:4. Descriptive compound for the divinely-appointed, ripe moment for God’s redemptive act in sending Christ; low ambiguity beyond consistency of use.

Jerusalem Above

Approved rendering: Yerusalaama ka dow
Transliteration: Yerusalaama ka dow
Doctrine: Freedom in Christ
Original: ἡ ἄνω Ἰερουσαλήμ
Category: Church

NEW TERM. Galatians 4:26. The believer’s true spiritual homeland, contrasted with earthly Jerusalem; contemporary political sensitivity around the name Jerusalem (per baseline israel note) applies here too — keep the spiritual referent unambiguous.

Idolatry

Approved rendering: sujjagol sanamji
Transliteration: sujjagol sanamji
Doctrine: Flesh versus Spirit
Original: εἰδωλολατρία
Category: Sin

NEW TERM. Galatians 5:20. A point of strong doctrinal agreement with Islamic anti-shirk teaching, but must not be leveraged to imply the Trinity or Christ’s deity constitute idolatry, an objection Islamic polemics sometimes raise; keep this term narrowly to literal image-worship.

Love Agape

Approved rendering: yiɗde
Transliteration: yiɗde
Doctrine: Faith Working through Love
Original: ἀγάπη
Category: Faith

NEW TERM. Galatians 2:20; 5:6, 13-14, 22. No baseline Romans translation-memory entry exists for this term — a notable gap in the baseline package. yiɗde is proposed as the standard rendering across the curriculum, standardized from its first occurrence at 2:20 (‘who loved me’); its self-giving, others-oriented quality must be made explicit given the absence of a prior established rendering.

Faith Working Through Love

Approved rendering: gomɗinal gollotoongal yiɗde
Transliteration: gomɗinal gollotoongal yiɗde
Doctrine: Faith Working through Love
Original: πίστις δι’ ἀγάπης ἐνεργουμένη
Category: Faith

NEW TERM. Galatians 5:6. New compound built on baseline gomɗinal plus new yiɗde; Paul’s positive alternative to both circumcision-observance and lawlessness. Must preserve both the faith-basis and the love-expression without collapsing into either bare intellectual assent or law-observance. Native-speaker confirmation required.

Whole Law Fulfilled

Approved rendering: sariya fof timmii e yiɗde
Transliteration: sariya fof timmii e yiɗde
Doctrine: Faith Working through Love
Original: ὁ…νόμος πεπλήρωται
Category: Covenant

NEW TERM. Galatians 5:14 (quoting Leviticus 19:18). Must not be read as reinstating law-observance as a righteousness-basis, contradicting chapters 2-3’s justification argument, but as describing love’s ethical outworking in the freed believer’s life.

Household Of Faith

Approved rendering: galle gomɗinal
Transliteration: galle gomɗinal
Doctrine: Bearing One Another’s Burdens
Original: τοὺς οἰκείους τῆς πίστεως
Category: Church

NEW TERM. Galatians 6:10. Positive bridge to strong Fulani extended-family/lineage (galle) values; must be taught as not excluding the passage’s own broader ‘do good to everyone’ scope (6:10a).

Low Risk Terms

David

Approved rendering: Daawuda
Transliteration: Daawuda
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Original: Δαβίδ
Category: Covenant

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Standard proper-name form. GALATIANS EXTENSION: not directly named in Galatians; retained for cross-reference consistency, and its geɗal Daawuda pattern is extended to the new term geɗal Ibrahiima (seed of Abraham).

Exhort

Approved rendering: wallitde
Transliteration: wallitde
Doctrine: Mutual Edification
Original: παρακαλέω
Category: Faith

[INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE] Context-sensitive: torraade for urgent appeal, wallitde/semmbinde for edification. GALATIANS EXTENSION: underlies the new compound wallitondiree e dungo mon (‘bear one another’s burdens’, 6:1-2,9-10).

Bear One Anothers Burdens

Approved rendering: wallitondiree e dungo mon
Transliteration: wallitondiree e dungo mon
Doctrine: Bearing One Another’s Burdens
Original: ἀλλήλων τὰ βάρη βαστάζετε
Category: Church

NEW TERM. Galatians 6:2. Positive cultural bridge, since mutual practical aid within extended kin/community networks (shared herding labor, communal obligation) is a deeply established Fulani pastoralist value.

Restore Gently

Approved rendering: ceerta on e newaare
Transliteration: ceerta on e newaare
Doctrine: Bearing One Another’s Burdens
Original: καταρτίζετε…ἐν πνεύματι πραΰτητος
Category: Church

NEW TERM. Galatians 6:1. Correcting a fallen believer with humility rather than harshness; standard vocabulary, minor risk only.

Sow And Reap

Approved rendering: remde…ɗural
Transliteration: remde…ɗural
Doctrine: Bearing One Another’s Burdens (background ethics)
Original: σπείρῃ…θερίσει
Category: Sanctification

NEW TERM. Galatians 6:7-8. Standard agricultural cause-and-consequence metaphor; strong positive resonance via known agro-pastoral neighbors and mixed Fulani livelihoods, though Fulani identity itself is herding- rather than farming-centered.

Marks Of Jesus

Approved rendering: maandeeji Yeesu
Transliteration: maandeeji Yeesu
Doctrine: Paul’s Apostleship
Original: τὰ στίγματα τοῦ Ἰησοῦ
Category: Church

NEW TERM. Galatians 6:17. Paul’s closing personal authentication of apostolic authenticity via persecution-scars, in contrast to the Judaizers’ concern for circumcision-marks. Incidental cultural resonance with pastoralist livestock branding/marking practices may aid comprehension but should be introduced only as an illustrative aid, not overstated.
