Core Glossary

Core Glossary — Philippians (English–Fulfulde)

This glossary consolidates every load-bearing theological term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, drawn from all four chapters of Philippians. Terms already established in the baseline Romans translation_memory.json are marked [BASELINE] and their recorded Fulfulde rendering is reused exactly, with no deviation. Terms newly required by Philippians are marked [NEW] and are provisional pending native-speaker/theologian confirmation where noted, consistent with the baseline’s documented practice for Fulfulde’s thinner Bible-translation tradition.

Section B — New Terms Required by Philippians

Term (English)Greek / TransliterationFulfulde RenderingRiskDoctrineChaptersRejected Alternatives / Notes
Self-emptying / kenosisἐκένωσεν / ekenōseno ustii hoore-munCriticalIncarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis)2No crystallized single term; compounds two Critical risks — Islamic shirk objection to incarnation, and paradox against Pulaaku teddungal (voluntary loss of status is not intuitively virtuous). Must be paired with baseline’s “Alla wontii neɗɗo.”
Form of Godμορφῇ θεοῦ / morphē theousifa AllaCriticalIncarnation / Deity of Christ2Never soften to “godlike” or “God-favored.” Same flashpoint as baseline “deity_of_christ.”
Equality with Godἴσα θεῷ / isa theōfotondiral e AllaCriticalDeity of Christ2The single most direct Tawhid collision in the letter; never soften.
Form of a servantμορφὴν δούλου / morphēn doulousifa maccuɗoCriticalIncarnation / Kenosis2maccuɗo carries live Fulani hereditary slave-caste (maccuɓe) connotation; requires explicit reframing before deployment. Elevated beyond baseline precedent due to this specific social sensitivity.
Slave / bondservant (of Paul)δοῦλος / doulosmaccuɗoCriticalApostleship / Christian Identity in Christ1Same caste-sensitivity caution as above; Paul’s self-designation must be explicitly taught as voluntary theological submission, not social-status comment.
Likeness of menὁμοιώματι ἀνθρώπων / homoiōmati anthrōpōne sifa yimɓeMediumHumanity of Christ2Genuine common ground with Islamic affirmation of Jesus’ humanity; do not let it soften the preceding deity claims.
Humilityταπεινοφροσύνη / tapeinophrosynēhoynugol hakkilleHighUnity and Humility in the Church2, 4 (implied)Tension with Pulaaku’s teddungal (honor/dignity); teach as voluntary, honorable self-giving, not degradation. Rejected: unqualified “yankinaare” (non-native form) without confirmation.
Humbled himselfἐταπείνωσεν ἑαυτόν / etapeinōsen heautono hoynii hoore-munHighKenosis / Humility2Same teddungal tension as above.
The crossσταυρός / stauroskuruwa / dagi maaydeCriticalIncarnation, Joy in Suffering (crucifixion basis)2, 3Directly contested by Quran 4:157’s denial of the crucifixion; state historical claim plainly, never euphemize.
Highly exaltedὑπερύψωσεν / hyperypsōsenAlla toownii mo no feewiCriticalDeity/Lordship of Christ2Never render as merely honorary/delegated status.
Name above every nameτὸ ὄνομα τὸ ὑπὲρ πᾶν ὄνομα / to onoma to hyper pan onomainnde nde ɓuri kala inndeHighLordship of Christ2Resonance with historical Caliphate claims to supreme authority; teach with historical awareness.
Every knee shall bowπᾶν γόνυ κάμψῃ / pan gony kampsēgaɓɓe kala poti sujjude e innde YeesuCriticalDeity of Christ / Universal Worship2sujjude shares its root with Islamic sujūd (prostration in salaa), reserved for Allah alone; the collision is doctrinally exact to Paul’s point but must be taught explicitly, never softened to mere social deference.
Every tongue confessπᾶσα γλῶσσα ἐξομολογήσηται / pasa glōssa exomologēsētaiɗemɗe kala ma jaɓ wonde Yeesu Kiristu ko JoomHighLordship of Christ2Align with, though not duplicate verbatim, the baseline’s Romans 10:9 rendering “Yeesu ko Joom.”
Saviorσωτήρ / sōtērKisanooɗoCriticalSalvation / Citizenship in Heaven3Direct extension of baseline “salvation” Critical flag; never soften to “helper” or “guide.”
Citizenship in heavenτὸ πολίτευμα ἐν οὐρανοῖς / to politeuma en ouranoisjeyaaɓe men ko asamaanHighCitizenship in Heaven3No traditional Fulani equivalent to formal citizenship; tension with strong Pulaaku ethnic-territorial-clan identity; teach as relativizing, not replacing, legitimate ethnic belonging.
Righteousness of the law vs. through faithδικαιοσύνη ἐκ νόμου / διὰ πίστεως Χριστοῦpeewal ummoraade e sariya / peewal ummoraade e gomɗinal e KiristuCriticalRighteousness by Faith versus the Law3Direct parallel to Romans 3-4; state explicitly given regional Sharia-observance tradition.
Circumcisionπεριτομή / peritomēkucalHighRighteousness by Faith versus the Law3Near-universal, religiously unmarked practice regionally; Paul’s polemic needs cultural-historical bridging, unlike its distinctive Jewish covenant-marker role.
Dogs (of false teachers)κύνες / kynesrawaanduMediumRighteousness by Faith versus the Law3Strong pejorative force translates naturally (dogs unclean/low-status regionally); keep referent narrow to false teachers.
Sharing his sufferingsκοινωνία τῶν παθημάτων αὐτοῦ / koinōnia tōn pathēmatōn autoudiisnondiral tampere KiristuHighJoy in Suffering and Imprisonment3Distinguish from mere Pulaaku munyal (silent stoic endurance); Christ-shaped meaning must be explicit.
Shame (glorying in)αἰσχύνη / aischynēsemteendeHighRighteousness by Faith versus the Law3Same word as the positive Pulaaku virtue of modesty; Paul’s usage is a sharp negative inversion and must be explicitly flagged.

Joyχαρά / chairō / charaweltaareMediumJoy in Suffering and Imprisonment1, 2, 3, 4Distinguish from munyal (stoic endurance); joy is active gladness, not mere silent forbearance.

Contentment / the secretαὐτάρκης / μυστήριον / autarkēs / mystērionyarlitaare / mi jangi ɗumHighContentment in All Circumstances4Distinguish from Islamic qana’a (contentment as submission to decree); Philippians grounds contentment in relationship with, and strength from, Christ specifically.
I can do all things through him who strengthens meἐνδυναμοῦντί με / endynamounti memi waawi kala huunde sabu Kiristu semmbinta lamHighContentment in All Circumstances4Guard against generic self-empowerment reading; keep categorically distinct from barke.
Fragrant offering / acceptable sacrificeὀσμὴ εὐωδίας / θυσία δεκτή / osmē euōdias / thysia dektēhoowre weeyaandi / sadaka jaɓaandeHighPartnership in the Gospel4sadaka shares vocabulary with Islamic sadaqa (charity); clarify as sacrificial-cultic metaphor, not equated with almsgiving.
God will supply every needπληρώσει πᾶσαν χρείαν / plērōsei pasan chreianAlla am waɗana on kala ko haajuɗonMediumPartnership in the Gospel4Keep in context of gospel-partnership generosity; not a blanket prosperity promise.

All eight assigned Bible Doctrines for this curriculum are represented in Section B above:

  1. The Incarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis) — Critical cluster: ekenōsen, morphē theou, morphē doulou, isa theō, hyparchōn, harpagmos, etapeinōsen, hypēkoos mechri thanatou, schēma.

The core passage (Philippians 2:1-11) is the load-bearing anchor for Doctrine 1 and Doctrine 3 above, and supplies the Critical-risk terms most requiring theologian review before any Phase 2 translation work proceeds.

Critical Risk Terms

Grace

Approved rendering: Arjunde
Transliteration: arjunde
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: yurmeende (reserve for mercy/compassion generally), barke (blessing/marabout-power, never a substitute)
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. In Philippians occurs at 1:2, 1:7, 4:23, and underlies echarisato (‘graciously gave/bestowed’, 2:9, see graciously_gave). The ‘apart from works’ contrast must be stated explicitly wherever arjunde appears, especially near 3:9’s righteousness-by-faith argument.

Salvation

Approved rendering: kisal
Transliteration: kisal
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: dancal (protection, never a stand-alone substitute), aljanna (paradise, never a stand-alone gloss)
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 1:19, 1:28, and especially 2:12 (‘work out your own salvation’) require explicit pairing with 2:13 (‘God who works in you’) so kisal is never misread through a deeds-weighing framework. See god_works_in_you and fear_and_trembling.

Holy Spirit

Approved rendering: Ruuhu Ceniiɗo
Transliteration: Ruuhu Ceniiɗo
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: ruuhu (never alone), jinna (never; a jinn/spirit being)
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 1:19 and, critically, 2:1’s koinōnia pneumatos (‘fellowship of the Spirit’) require the full mandatory form without exception — see fellowship_of_the_spirit. Never abbreviate to bare ruuhu in any Philippians context.

Messiah

Approved rendering: Almasiihu
Transliteration: Almasiihu
Doctrine: Messianic Promise
Original: Χριστός
Category: Christology

Inherited from Romans package. Recurs throughout Philippians; every occurrence carries Christologically loaded content (kenosis, deity, resurrection, lordship) that Islamic theology denies while still using the same title. Shared vocabulary must never be mistaken for shared belief.

Lord

Approved rendering: Joom
Transliteration: Joom
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: Laamiiɗo (reserve for ruler/king; avoid as default for divine Lordship, Sokoto Caliphate political resonance)
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 2:11 (‘every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord’) directly parallels the baseline’s Romans 10:9 salvation confession and must align with that established construction — see every_tongue_confess. 4:5’s ‘the Lord is at hand’ requires explicit distinction from Islamic eschatological expectation of Isa’s return — see lord_is_at_hand.

Jesus

Approved rendering: Yeesu
Transliteration: Yeesu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: Iisa (Quranic form, never in doctrinal exposition)
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology

Inherited from Romans package. Recurs throughout Philippians, paired with Kiristu (see christ). Iisa must never appear in doctrinal exposition, especially in the Critical-risk core passage 2:1-11.

Christ

Approved rendering: Kiristu
Transliteration: Kiristu
Doctrine: Messianic Promise / Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: Almasiihu (reserve as the Messiah title parallel to the Quranic al-Masih; Kiristu is the personal-name-adjacent form used throughout established Fulfulde/Pular Christian usage)

Established via the baseline’s own transliteration standards (12_ai_translation_requirements.md: ‘Christ = Kiristu’) though not previously given its own translation_memory.json entry. Added as a standalone entry here because Kiristu appears extensively throughout Philippians both paired with Yeesu (‘Kiristu Yeesu’ / ‘Yeesu Kiristu’) and standing alone (e.g. 1:1, 1:21, 3:7-9, 3:12, 4:13). Must be used consistently alongside Yeesu; never replaced by Almasiihu in ordinary narrative or exhortation, though Almasiihu remains available where the Messianic-title sense is specifically in view.

God

Approved rendering: Alla
Transliteration: Alla
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: θεός
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 2:6 (morphē theou, ‘form of God’) and 2:9-11 make the most direct Critical-risk claims of the letter about Alla’s own nature being shared with Christ; see form_of_god and equality_with_god.

Resurrection

Approved rendering: immorde e maayde
Transliteration: immorde e maayde
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ
Rejected alternatives: immorde ka maayde (dialectal variant, confirm regionally)
Original: ἀνάστασις / ἐξανάστασις
Category: Eschatology

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 3:10-11 (‘the power of his resurrection… that I may attain the resurrection from the dead’) and 3:21 (future bodily transformation) both presuppose the historical crucifixion Quran 4:157 denies; this Critical risk compounds with the cross entry at 2:8 and 3:18.

Self Emptying Kenosis

Approved rendering: o ustii hoore-mun
Transliteration: o ustii hoore-mun
Doctrine: Incarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis)
Rejected alternatives: any rendering implying Christ ceased to be God during the incarnation (heretical, never use)
Original: ἐκένωσεν
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:7. No crystallized single Fulfulde theological term for kenosis exists; this descriptive compound must be paired with the baseline’s incarnation phrase Alla wontii neɗɗo. Compounds two Critical risks: the Islamic shirk objection to God taking human form, and a distinct Pulaaku collision, since voluntarily surrendering teddungal (status/honor) is nearly unthinkable virtue-wise, whereas Christ’s self-emptying grounds his exaltation (2:9). Must never be quoted or taught apart from 2:9-11 in the same didactic unit.

Form Of God

Approved rendering: sifa Alla
Transliteration: sifa Alla
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: huunde Alla welaa (softened ‘godlike/God-favored’, never use)
Original: μορφῇ θεοῦ
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:6. Same doctrinal flashpoint as the baseline’s deity_of_christ entry: strict Tawhid doctrine, echoing the Sokoto Caliphate’s reformist heritage, categorically denies any being shares God’s nature. Never soften toward ‘godlike’ or ‘God-favored’.

Equality With God

Approved rendering: fotondiral e Alla
Transliteration: fotondiral e Alla
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: Alla dokki mo teddungal (‘God gave him great honor’, a documented softening-drift pattern in regional translation work under Tawhid social pressure — must be actively resisted), ‘very close to God’ / ‘God’s special one’ (never use)
Original: ἴσα θεῷ
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:6. The single most direct Tawhid collision point in the letter — more explicit than most Romans passages. Must be taught with full theological engagement, never softened into a resemblance/honor-conferred reading that Islamic theology could accommodate for a prophet without conceding the doctrine.

Form Of A Servant

Approved rendering: sifa maccuɗo
Transliteration: sifa maccuɗo
Doctrine: Incarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis)
Rejected alternatives: sifa jiyaaɗo (softer ‘servant/subordinate’, under-translates Paul’s force and must not be this curriculum’s default)
Original: μορφὴν δούλου
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:7. Elevated to Critical beyond baseline precedent for servant/slave vocabulary because maccuɗo carries a live, historically loaded hereditary caste connotation (the maccuɓe servile social class in traditional Fulani society), distinct from and more socially fraught than the NT’s metaphor of honorable voluntary bondservice. Every occurrence requires explicit teaching that this is Christ’s voluntary theological self-lowering, never a comment on hereditary social status. Retain the sharp native term; do not euphemize toward jiyaaɗo.

Slave Of Christ

Approved rendering: maccuɗo Kiristu Yeesu
Transliteration: maccuɗo Kiristu Yeesu
Doctrine: Apostleship and Voluntary Servanthood
Rejected alternatives: jiyaaɗo Kiristu Yeesu (softer alternative, under-translates and must not be adopted)
Original: δοῦλος
Category: Church

NEW. Philippians 1:1. Paul and Timothy’s opening self-designation. Shares the same maccuɗo/maccuɓe caste-sensitivity risk as form_of_a_servant. Because this is the letter’s very first self-designation, it requires immediate, explicit teaching before any other content: voluntary theological submission to Christ as Master, not a statement about, or comment on, hereditary social status in Fulani communities.

Cross

Approved rendering: kuruwa
Transliteration: kuruwa
Doctrine: Crucifixion of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ‘his suffering’ alone (never use as a euphemistic substitute; omits the specific historical mode Paul insists on)
Original: σταυρός
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:8, 3:18. Recommended fuller form: maayde e kuruwa (‘death on the cross’). Directly, explicitly contested by mainstream Sunni interpretation of Quran 4:157, which denies the crucifixion occurred at all — the same historical flashpoint documented in the baseline’s resurrection entries. Both occurrences in Philippians depend on the historical reality of the crucifixion; state plainly, never euphemize.

Highly Exalted

Approved rendering: Alla toownii mo no feewi
Transliteration: Alla toownii mo no feewi
Doctrine: Exaltation and Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ‘a great prophet lifted up’ (never use; Islamic theology could accommodate this without conceding the doctrine)
Original: ὑπερύψωσεν
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:9. God’s supreme exaltation of Christ, read together with 2:10-11’s universal worship and Lordship confession, asserts Christ’s supreme divine authority — the same category flagged Critical throughout the baseline for lordship_of_christ and deity_of_christ. Never render as merely honorary/delegated status.

Every Knee Shall Bow

Approved rendering: gaɓɓe kala poti sujjude e innde Yeesu
Transliteration: gaɓɓe kala poti sujjude e innde Yeesu
Doctrine: Universal Worship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: a generic ‘bow in respect’ verb avoiding sujjude entirely (rejected: blunts Paul’s actual argument by avoiding the exact doctrinal collision the text intends)
Original: πᾶν γόνυ κάμψῃ
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:10. sujjude (prostrate) shares its root with the Islamic sujūd performed in the five daily prayers, an act of worship reserved exclusively for Allah. Applying it to Jesus is doctrinally exact to Paul’s Isaiah 45:23 allusion (worship due to YHWH alone now due to Christ). Retain the native term deliberately; fence with explicit teaching, never soften to mere social deference.

Savior

Approved rendering: Kisanooɗo
Transliteration: Kisanooɗo
Doctrine: Christ as Personal Savior
Rejected alternatives: ‘helper’ / ‘guide’ (never use; titles Islamic theology could accommodate for a prophet without conceding that Christ himself saves)
Original: σωτήρ
Category: Salvation

NEW. Philippians 3:20. Derived form of the baseline’s kisal (salvation). Direct extension of the baseline’s Critical salvation flag: Islamic soteriology has no savior-figure or atonement framework, understanding paradise-entry as Allah’s own mercy weighed against deeds.

Righteousness Of Law Vs Faith

Approved rendering: peewal ummoraade e sariya / peewal ummoraade e gomɗinal e Kiristu
Transliteration: peewal ummoraade e sariya / peewal ummoraade e gomɗinal e Kiristu
Doctrine: Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Original: δικαιοσύνη ἐκ νόμου / διὰ πίστεως Χριστοῦ
Category: Salvation

NEW compound built entirely from baseline terms peewal, sariya, gomɗinal, reused exactly. Philippians 3:6, 3:9. Philippians’ clearest statement of this doctrine, directly paralleling Romans 3-4. Given the depth of regional Sharia-based legal-religious tradition, this contrast must be stated with maximum explicitness.

High Risk Terms

Gospel

Approved rendering: Linjiila
Transliteration: Linjiila
Doctrine: Gospel
Rejected alternatives: kabaaru moƴƴo (acceptable only as an explanatory gloss, ‘good news’)
Original: εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. In Philippians occurs at 1:5, 1:7, 1:12, 1:16, 1:27, 2:22, 4:3, 4:15; underlies the new compounds partnership_in_the_gospel (1:5, 4:15) and defense_of_the_gospel (1:7, 1:16). Reconfirm dialectal recognition per baseline caution before deployment.

Faith

Approved rendering: gomɗinal
Transliteration: gomɗinal
Doctrine: Faith
Rejected alternatives: hoolaare (trust, acceptable supporting synonym)
Original: πίστις
Category: Faith

Inherited from Romans package. In Philippians occurs at 1:25, 1:27, 2:17, 3:9; the 3:9 occurrence is the letter’s Critical-risk contrast with sariya-based righteousness (see righteousness_of_law_vs_faith). Object of faith (Christ) must remain explicit.

Righteousness

Approved rendering: peewal
Transliteration: peewal
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: nunɗal (fairness/justice, too civic)
Original: δικαιοσύνη
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 3:6 and 3:9 directly contrast ‘righteousness of the law’ with ‘righteousness through faith in Christ’ — the letter’s clearest parallel to Romans 3-4. The compound righteousness_of_law_vs_faith (below) is Critical; this base term retains its baseline High tier.

Law

Approved rendering: sariya
Transliteration: sariya
Doctrine: Fulfillment of Prophecy
Original: νόμος
Category: Covenant

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 3:5-6, 3:9 use sariya for Paul’s former confidence in Torah-observance (including circumcision, Pharisaic status), now counted as loss. Must be explicitly taught as naming Mosaic Law/Torah-confidence, a specific redemptive-historical category, never a critique of Sharia observance as practiced by contemporary Muslim neighbors.

Holy

Approved rendering: ceniiɗo
Transliteration: ceniiɗo
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: laaɓɗo (physical/ritual cleanliness only)
Original: ἅγιος
Category: Sanctification

Inherited from Romans package. Underlies seniiɓe (saints) in Philippians 1:1, 4:21-22.

Saints

Approved rendering: seniiɓe
Transliteration: seniiɓe
Doctrine: Sainthood
Original: ἅγιοι
Category: Church

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 1:1 addresses ‘all the saints… at Philippi’ corporately, including named overseers and deacons (see overseers_deacons); 4:21-22 closes the letter with the same corporate address.

Sanctification

Approved rendering: ceniinde
Transliteration: ceniinde
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: laaɓal (ritual/ceremonial purification, avoid as substitute)
Original: ἁγιασμός
Category: Sanctification

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 2:12-13’s ‘work out your own salvation… God who works in you’ names this ongoing sanctifying process; see god_works_in_you for the specific verb energeō.

Glory

Approved rendering: manaango
Transliteration: manaango
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: teddungal (reserve for human honor/dignity; avoid as primary term for God’s glory)
Original: δόξα
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 1:11, 2:11, 3:21, 4:19-20 use manaango. 4:8’s ‘honorable’ (σεμνά) is deliberately rendered teddungal instead (see honorable_noble) — this positive convergence with Pulaaku’s own value must remain conceptually distinct from manaango, God’s own transcendent glory.

Power Of God

Approved rendering: doole Alla
Transliteration: doole Alla
Doctrine: Power of God for Salvation
Rejected alternatives: barke (marabout-associated spiritual power, never use)
Original: δύναμις
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 3:10 (‘the power of his resurrection’) and 4:13 (‘him who strengthens me’) both risk being flattened into generic self-empowerment or a barke-adjacent reading if not explicitly tied to dependence on Christ specifically — see strengthened_by_christ.

Father

Approved rendering: Baaba
Transliteration: Baaba
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Original: πατήρ
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 1:2, 2:11, 4:20. Philippians 2:11’s ‘to the glory of God the Father’ requires the Trinitarian nuance that the Son’s universal exaltation terminates in, not competes with, the Father’s glory — worth making explicit given Tawhid sensitivities.

Humility

Approved rendering: hoynugol hakkille
Transliteration: hoynugol hakkille
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Rejected alternatives: yankinaare (non-native form, not yet confirmed for this dialect)
Original: ταπεινοφροσύνη
Category: Sanctification

NEW. Philippians 2:3 (implied throughout 2:1-8). Stands in real tension with teddungal, the core Pulaaku value of honor/dignity, under which self-lowering can be read as loss of face rather than virtue. Must be taught explicitly as Christ’s voluntary, honorable self-giving from a position of supreme status (2:6-8), never degradation imposed from weakness.

Humbled Himself

Approved rendering: o hoynii hoore-mun
Transliteration: o hoynii hoore-mun
Doctrine: Voluntary Humility of Christ
Original: ἐταπείνωσεν ἑαυτόν
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:8. Shares the same teddungal tension flagged at humility; must be taught as the supreme, honorable enactment of the humility called for in 2:3, closing Paul’s argument, never read as mere degradation.

Name Above Every Name

Approved rendering: innde nde ɓuri kala innde
Transliteration: innde nde ɓuri kala innde
Doctrine: Exaltation and Lordship of Christ
Original: τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ὑπὲρ πᾶν ὄνομα
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:9. In a Fulfulde-speaking context with living memory of the Sokoto Caliphate’s own claims to supreme religio-political authority, this claim of a name above every name — implicitly including political and religious titles — should be taught with attention to that historical resonance, per the baseline’s kingdom_of_god caution.

Every Tongue Confess

Approved rendering: ɗemɗe kala ma jaɓ wonde Yeesu Kiristu ko Joom
Transliteration: ɗemɗe kala ma jaɓ wonde Yeesu Kiristu ko Joom
Doctrine: Exaltation and Lordship of Christ
Original: πᾶσα γλῶσσα ἐξομολογήσηται
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:11. Per the baseline’s cross-document consistency rule for Romans 10:9-10, this confession formula must align with, though need not be verbatim identical to, that established rendering pattern (‘Yeesu ko Joom’), since both texts assert the identical confession content.

Citizenship In Heaven

Approved rendering: jeyaaɓe men ko asamaan
Transliteration: jeyaaɓe men ko asamaan
Doctrine: Citizenship in Heaven
Rejected alternatives: a purely spatial descriptive (‘our home is in the sky’, rejected as too vague — loses Paul’s specific political-citizenship metaphor)
Original: τὸ πολίτευμα ἐν οὐρανοῖς
Category: Eschatology

NEW. Philippians 3:20. No traditional Fulani equivalent to formal nation-state citizenship exists, since pastoralist identity is structured around clan and lineage (Pulaaku). Must be taught as relativizing, not requiring abandonment of, legitimate ethnic-cultural belonging, per the baseline’s christian_identity_in_christ pattern.

Circumcision

Approved rendering: kucal
Transliteration: kucal
Doctrine: Confidence in the Flesh Rejected
Original: περιτομή
Category: Covenant

NEW. Philippians 3:2-5. Male circumcision is a near-universal, religiously unmarked practice among both Muslim and traditional Fulani communities, unlike its distinctive Jewish covenant-marker status in Paul’s context. Requires explicit cultural-historical bridging so readers grasp why Paul treats confidence in it as worthless.

Sharing His Sufferings

Approved rendering: diisnondiral tampere Kiristu
Transliteration: diisnondiral tampere Kiristu
Doctrine: Suffering as Participation with Christ
Original: κοινωνία τῶν παθημάτων αὐτοῦ
Category: Faith

NEW. Philippians 3:10. Must be taught as a rich, Christ-shaped privilege — intimate participation with Christ — not merely equated with Pulaaku’s munyal (silent stoic endurance), which carries no Christ-directed theological content.

Shame

Approved rendering: semteende
Transliteration: semteende
Doctrine: False Glory and Shame Inverted
Original: αἰσχύνη
Category: Sanctification

NEW. Philippians 3:19. Same term denotes the positive Pulaaku virtue of modesty/shame-sensitivity. Paul’s usage is a sharp negative inversion (boasting in what should provoke shame); must be explicitly flagged so readers do not hear an accusation against the virtue of modesty itself.

Same Mind Disposition

Approved rendering: miijo gootol / miiƴude no Almasiihu miiƴiri
Transliteration: miijo gootol / miiƴude no Almasiihu miiƴiri
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Rejected alternatives: a simple verb for ‘agree’ (rejected: flattens 2:5’s call to imitate Christ’s mind, not merely concur with others)
Original: φρονέω
Category: Church

NEW. Philippians 2:2, 2:5, 4:2. No crystallized single Fulfulde theological verb exists for phroneō’s nuanced sense of shared disposition distinct from shared opinion. Flag every occurrence for theologian and native-speaker confirmation before treating as final.

Fellowship Of The Spirit

Approved rendering: diisnondiral Ruuhu Ceniiɗo
Transliteration: diisnondiral Ruuhu Ceniiɗo
Doctrine: Fellowship of the Spirit as Ground of Unity
Rejected alternatives: any construction abbreviating Ruuhu Ceniiɗo to bare ruuhu (forbidden per baseline rule)
Original: κοινωνία πνεύματος
Category: Church

NEW. Philippians 2:1. Risk elevated to High specifically because pneumatos must never be abbreviated — any shortening would violate the baseline’s forbidden-substitution rule and risk confusion with jinna (jinn) or an impersonal spirit/breath. The Holy Spirit himself, not merely shared human sentiment, is the ground of unity.

Day Of Christ

Approved rendering: ñalnde Kiristu
Transliteration: ñalnde Kiristu
Doctrine: Eschatological Hope: The Day of Christ
Original: ἡμέρα Χριστοῦ
Category: Eschatology

NEW. Philippians 1:6, 1:10, 2:16. Must be explicitly distinguished from Islamic Yaum al-Qiyāmah (Day of Resurrection/Judgment); content is tied specifically to Christ’s own return and evaluation, not a generic universal judgment administered apart from him.

Struggle Conflict

Approved rendering: hare
Transliteration: hare
Doctrine: Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment
Rejected alternatives: a blander ‘difficulty’ term (rejected: loses Paul’s athletic/military intensity)
Original: ἀγών
Category: Faith

NEW. Philippians 1:30. Risk of evoking martial/jihad-framework associations given the Sokoto Caliphate’s historical memory; must always be explicitly clarified as nonviolent spiritual perseverance and suffering for the gospel’s sake. Retain the vivid term; fence with mandatory qualification, do not substitute a weaker word.

Word Of Life

Approved rendering: konngol nguurndam
Transliteration: konngol nguurndam
Doctrine: Partnership in the Gospel
Original: λόγος ζωῆς
Category: Salvation

NEW. Philippians 2:16. Quran 4:171 refers to Isa as ‘a Word from Allah’ (kalimatun minhu) — a genuine point of shared vocabulary but with entirely different theological content, not the eternal, incarnate divine Logos of John 1. Must not be assumed automatically equivalent.

Lord Is At Hand

Approved rendering: Joom on ko ɓaɗtii
Transliteration: Joom on ko ɓaɗtii
Doctrine: Exaltation and Lordship of Christ
Original: ὁ Κύριος ἐγγύς
Category: Eschatology

NEW. Philippians 4:5. Must be distinguished from Islamic eschatological expectation of Isa’s return as a subordinate end-times sign; state plainly that Christ returns as sovereign Lord and Savior in his own right.

Contentment Secret

Approved rendering: yarlitaare / mi jangi ɗum
Transliteration: yarlitaare / mi jangi ɗum
Doctrine: Contentment in All Circumstances
Original: αὐτάρκης / μυστήριον
Category: Faith

NEW. Philippians 4:11-12. Must be explicitly distinguished from the Islamic virtue of qana’a (contentment as submission to Allah’s provision and decree) — a genuine point of moral contact, but Philippians grounds contentment specifically in relationship with, and empowerment by, Christ.

Strengthened By Christ

Approved rendering: mi waawi kala huunde sabu Kiristu semmbinta lam
Transliteration: mi waawi kala huunde sabu Kiristu semmbinta lam
Doctrine: Contentment in All Circumstances
Original: πάντα ἰσχύω ἐν τῷ ἐνδυναμοῦντί με
Category: Faith

NEW. Philippians 4:13. Popular usage flattens this verse into a generic self-empowerment slogan detached from its actual context of learned dependence amid want and plenty; must also be kept categorically distinct from barke, per the baseline’s forbidden-substitution rule. Never quote the clause ‘mi waawi kala huunde’ without its qualifying ‘sabu Kiristu semmbinta lam.‘

Fragrant Offering Sacrifice

Approved rendering: hoowre weeyaandi / sadaka jaɓaande
Transliteration: hoowre weeyaandi / sadaka jaɓaande
Doctrine: Generosity and Material Giving in Gospel Partnership
Rejected alternatives: a purely descriptive ‘gift offered to God’ avoiding sadaka entirely (rejected: flattens Paul’s vivid cultic-sacrifice resonance)
Original: ὀσμὴ εὐωδίας, θυσία δεκτή
Category: Faith

NEW. Philippians 4:18. sadaka is Arabic-derived and shared directly with Islamic sadaqa (voluntary charitable giving), which carries no substitutionary or altar-sacrifice framework. Must be explicitly clarified as sacrificial-offering imagery applied metaphorically to material gospel support, not equated with Islamic almsgiving. Retain sadaka; do not paraphrase it away.

Something To Be Grasped

Approved rendering: huunde nde o suusata ƴottinde e mun tan
Transliteration: huunde nde o suusata ƴottinde e mun tan
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: ἁρπαγμός
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:6 (harpagmos). No crystallized single term exists; flagged for theologian confirmation, ensuring the phrase does not accidentally suggest Christ merely appeared equal with God without actually being so, which would undercut equality_with_god in the same verse.

Preexistence Of Christ

Approved rendering: wonnoo hino
Transliteration: wonnoo hino
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: a simple past ‘became’ verb form (rejected: collapses pre-existence into the incarnation event itself)
Original: ὑπάρχων
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:6 (hyparchōn). The Fulfulde verb form must preserve the sense of prior, ongoing existence, weakening the form_of_god claim if mistranslated as simple past.

Medium Risk Terms

Peace

Approved rendering: jam
Transliteration: jam
Doctrine: Peace with God
Rejected alternatives: deeƴre (calm/stillness, too passive)
Original: εἰρήνη
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 4:7’s ‘the peace of God… will guard your hearts and minds’ pairs jam with a protective/guarding verb resonant with pastoralist shepherd-guard imagery, while still requiring the same distinction from everyday greeting-register jam documented in the baseline for Romans 5:1.

Church

Approved rendering: kawtal
Transliteration: kawtal
Doctrine: Church as God’s People
Rejected alternatives: moosaale (mosque, never use)
Original: ἐκκλησία
Category: Church

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 1:1 names local church officers (overseers, deacons) within this kawtal — see overseers_deacons.

Intercession

Approved rendering: torgol wonande
Transliteration: torgol wonande
Doctrine: Prayer and Intercession
Original: δέησις
Category: Faith

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 1:4, 1:19, 4:6. Must be kept distinct from salaa (Islamic ritual prayer) and any marabout-mediated petition connotation.

Apostle

Approved rendering: nulaaɗo
Transliteration: nulaaɗo
Doctrine: Apostleship
Rejected alternatives: rasuulu (never use; reserved in Islamic usage for Muhammad’s title)
Original: ἀπόστολος
Category: Church

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 1:1 notably has Paul style himself and Timothy as douloi (see slave_of_christ), not apostoloi, though his apostolic authority undergirds the whole letter. nulaaɗo remains available for teaching material discussing Paul’s apostolic office generally (e.g. 2:25’s discussion of Epaphroditus as ‘your messenger’, apostolos in a lower-case sense).

Likeness Of Men

Approved rendering: e sifa yimɓe
Transliteration: e sifa yimɓe
Doctrine: Humanity of Christ
Original: ὁμοιώματι ἀνθρώπων
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:7. Genuine common ground with Islamic theology’s strong affirmation of Jesus’ full humanity. Must not be allowed to soften the adjacent Critical deity claims of the same sentence (form_of_god, equality_with_god).

Dogs False Teachers

Approved rendering: rawaandu
Transliteration: rawaandu
Doctrine: Confidence in the Flesh Rejected
Original: κύνες
Category: Church

NEW. Philippians 3:2. Dogs are low-status, ritually unclean scavenger animals in both Fulani pastoralist culture and regional Islamic tradition, so the pejorative force translates naturally. Keep the referent narrow to the false Judaizing teachers Paul opposed; never generalize onto any ethnic or religious group.

Belly As God

Approved rendering: reedu
Transliteration: reedu
Doctrine: False Glory and Shame Inverted
Original: κοιλία
Category: Sanctification

NEW. Philippians 3:19. Literal rendering (belly/stomach) does not automatically convey the idiomatic sense of appetite-as-functional-deity; requires a brief gloss on first use.

Joy

Approved rendering: weltaare
Transliteration: weltaare
Doctrine: Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment
Original: χαρά / χαίρω
Category: Faith

NEW. Recurs throughout: 1:4, 1:18, 1:25, 2:2, 2:17-18, 2:28-29, 3:1, 4:1, 4:4, 4:10. Must be taught as distinct from munyal (Pulaaku’s valued stoic, patient endurance of hardship without complaint); Philippians’ joy is active, expressed gladness grounded in Christ that coexists with — and is not replaced by — suffering.

Partnership In The Gospel

Approved rendering: diisnondiral e Linjiila
Transliteration: diisnondiral e Linjiila
Doctrine: Partnership in the Gospel
Original: κοινωνία εἰς τὸ εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Church

NEW. Philippians 1:5, 4:14-15. Must be distinguished from the baseline’s Low-risk generic diisnondiral (fellowship) sense to preserve the specific meaning of active, sacrificial material and spiritual partnership.

Overseers Deacons

Approved rendering: jom-ndeenka kawtal / wallitɗo kawtal
Transliteration: jom-ndeenka kawtal / wallitɗo kawtal
Doctrine: Church Leadership Offices
Rejected alternatives: imam / marabout vocabulary (never use; different authority structures and barke-associated power)
Original: ἐπίσκοποι / διάκονοι
Category: Church

NEW. Philippians 1:1. No crystallized single Fulfulde term exists for either office; must be kept distinct from Islamic religious-office vocabulary.

Boldness

Approved rendering: hakkille tabitiiɗo
Transliteration: hakkille tabitiiɗo
Doctrine: Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment
Original: παρρησία
Category: Faith

NEW. Philippians 1:20. Descriptive compound for parrēsia; confirm regional naturalness given the letter’s prison setting.

Defense Of The Gospel

Approved rendering: daaɗeele Linjiila
Transliteration: daaɗeele Linjiila
Doctrine: Partnership in the Gospel
Original: ἀπολογία
Category: Salvation

NEW. Philippians 1:7, 1:16. A genuine point of methodological contact with the Islamic apologetic tradition (kalam), but with different content and aim; should not be assumed automatically equivalent.

Fellow Worker Soldier

Approved rendering: gollotooɗo am / sofaajo am
Transliteration: gollotooɗo am / sofaajo am
Doctrine: Partnership in the Gospel
Original: συνεργός / συστρατιώτης
Category: Church

NEW. Philippians 2:25 (of Epaphroditus). ‘Soldier’ imagery has positive resonance with historic Fulani warrior tradition but must be explicitly clarified as spiritual companionship in gospel service and suffering, not martial or jihad-associated struggle — same caution as struggle_conflict.

Knowledge Of Christ

Approved rendering: anndal Kiristu
Transliteration: anndal Kiristu
Doctrine: The Surpassing Value of Knowing Christ
Original: γνῶσις Χριστοῦ
Category: Faith

NEW. Philippians 3:8. Should be distinguished from Islamic ‘ilm (religious knowledge/scholarship), a genuinely prestigious regional category, without dismissing scholarship’s value; anndal Kiristu is personal, relational knowledge.

Pressing On Goal Prize

Approved rendering: mi ɗaɓɓata yaawi / fiɓnde ɗaɓɓaande
Transliteration: mi ɗaɓɓata yaawi / fiɓnde ɗaɓɓaande
Doctrine: Pressing on toward the Goal in Christ
Original: διώκω / σκοπός / βραβεῖον
Category: Faith

NEW. Philippians 3:12-14. ‘Goal/prize’ is a provisional descriptive compound; no crystallized single term is attested in Fulfulde Christian literature and must be confirmed with native speakers before being treated as final.

Body Of Lowliness And Glory

Approved rendering: ɓalndu hoyaandu / ɓalndu manaango
Transliteration: ɓalndu hoyaandu / ɓalndu manaango
Doctrine: Resurrection Hope and Bodily Transformation
Original: σῶμα τῆς ταπεινώσεως / σῶμα τῆς δόξης
Category: Eschatology

NEW. Philippians 3:21. Bodily resurrection/transformation should be stated plainly as a future, physical hope, not spiritualized away.

Book Of Life

Approved rendering: deftere nguurndam
Transliteration: deftere nguurndam
Doctrine: Eschatological Hope: The Day of Christ
Original: βίβλος ζωῆς
Category: Eschatology

NEW. Philippians 4:3. Must be distinguished from the Islamic kitāb al-a’māl (Book of Deeds recorded for weighing at judgment); this book records those who belong to God by grace, not a deeds-ledger.

God Will Supply Need

Approved rendering: Alla am waɗana on kala ko haajuɗon
Transliteration: Alla am waɗana on kala ko haajuɗon
Doctrine: Generosity and Material Giving in Gospel Partnership
Original: πληρώσει πᾶσαν χρείαν ὑμῶν
Category: Faith

NEW. Philippians 4:19. Should be taught in its specific context of gospel-partnership generosity (4:14-18), not detached into a blanket, unconditional prosperity promise.

Fear And Trembling

Approved rendering: kulol e diŋkii
Transliteration: kulol e diŋkii
Doctrine: Sanctification: Working Out Salvation
Original: φόβος καὶ τρόμος
Category: Sanctification

NEW. Philippians 2:12. Distinguish reverent awe before God from Islamic taqwa (God-consciousness/fearfulness), a genuine point of contact but oriented Christ-ward here, in a grace context, not law-ward striving.

God Works In You

Approved rendering: Alla gollata ka nder mon
Transliteration: Alla gollata ka nder mon
Doctrine: Sanctification: Working Out Salvation
Rejected alternatives: barke-linked phrasing (never use)
Original: ἐνεργέω
Category: Sanctification

NEW. Philippians 2:13. Must be kept distinct from barke (marabout-mediated spiritual power); essential context for correctly reading 2:12’s ‘work out your own salvation’ as grace-grounded, not effort-earned.

Obedient To Death

Approved rendering: ɗoftaare haa e maayde
Transliteration: ɗoftaare haa e maayde
Doctrine: Incarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis)
Rejected alternatives: ɗoftagol sariya (rule-obedience, explicitly rejected per baseline obedience_of_faith entry)
Original: ὑπήκοος μέχρι θανάτου
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:8. Christ’s obedience here is relational obedience to the Father’s redemptive will, not legal compliance.

Graciously Gave

Approved rendering: yeɗi mo
Transliteration: yeɗi mo
Doctrine: Exaltation and Lordship of Christ
Original: ἐχαρίσατο
Category: Salvation

NEW. Philippians 2:9 (echarisato). Root-linked to arjunde (grace); should not be confused with human-merited reward — reinforces that the Father’s exaltation of the Son flows from free favor toward the Son’s obedience, not a transactional payment.

Encouragement In Christ

Approved rendering: wallitaari e Kiristu
Transliteration: wallitaari e Kiristu
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Original: παράκλησις
Category: Church

NEW. Philippians 2:1 (paraklēsis). Built on baseline wallitde; must be distinguished from generic social consolation offered within extended-family/clan networks, which is warm and real in Fulani culture but not the same as encouragement rooted specifically in union with Christ.

Love

Approved rendering: giggol
Transliteration: giggol
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Original: ἀγάπη
Category: Church

NEW. Philippians 2:1-2. Giggol is the general Fulfulde term for love/affection and must be qualified in context to avoid collapsing into romantic or purely familial love; the specific self-giving quality modeled by Christ (2:6-8) should be taught explicitly.

Poured Out As Libation

Approved rendering: ndiyam nguurndam am ɓoortaaɗam
Transliteration: ndiyam nguurndam am ɓoortaaɗam
Doctrine: Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment
Original: σπένδομαι
Category: Faith

NEW. Philippians 2:17 (spendomai). Sacrificial libation imagery is unfamiliar outside the Old Testament’s cultic system and must be briefly explained on first use.

Low Risk Terms

Thanksgiving

Approved rendering: yettoore
Transliteration: yettoore
Doctrine: Thanksgiving
Original: εὐχαριστία
Category: Faith

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 1:3-4, 4:6. No significant risk.

Fellowship

Approved rendering: diisnondiral
Transliteration: diisnondiral
Doctrine: Christian Fellowship
Original: κοινωνία
Category: Church

Inherited from Romans package. This root generates two elevated-risk compounds specific to Philippians: koinōnia pneumatos (2:1, High, see fellowship_of_the_spirit) and koinōnia eis to euangelion (1:5, 4:14-15, Medium, see partnership_in_the_gospel), plus koinōnia tōn pathēmatōn autou (3:10, High, see sharing_his_sufferings). Do not shorten these compounds back to bare diisnondiral.

Exhort

Approved rendering: wallitde
Transliteration: wallitde
Doctrine: Mutual Edification
Original: παρακαλέω
Category: Faith

Inherited from Romans package. Philippians 4:2 (‘I entreat Euodia and Syntyche’). The related noun paraklēsis (2:1) is a distinct, elevated compound — see encouragement_in_christ.

David

Approved rendering: Daawuda
Transliteration: Daawuda
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Original: Δαυίδ
Category: Covenant

Inherited from Romans package. Not directly named in Philippians but retained for cross-curriculum consistency should Davidic-covenant background be referenced in teaching on Christ’s messianic identity.

Gain And Loss

Approved rendering: paayodi / hasaare
Transliteration: paayodi / hasaare
Doctrine: Pressing on toward the Goal in Christ
Original: κέρδος / ζημία
Category: Faith

NEW. Philippians 1:21, 3:7-8. Natural extension of pastoralist/trade vocabulary. Keep ‘Christ’ as the explicit referent of ‘gain’ in both occurrences; do not let it flatten into a generic profit/loss proverb.

Anxiety

Approved rendering: sunaare / wata on sunaa fii huunde
Transliteration: sunaare / wata on sunaa fii huunde
Doctrine: Prayer as the Antidote to Anxiety
Original: μεριμνάω
Category: Faith

NEW. Philippians 4:6. Descriptive; low ambiguity risk.

Honorable Noble

Approved rendering: teddungal
Transliteration: teddungal
Doctrine: Christian Virtue and Honorable Conduct
Original: σεμνά
Category: Sanctification

NEW. Philippians 4:8 (σεμνά). A direct, positive convergence with Pulaaku’s own core honor value; keep conceptually distinct from manaango (God’s own transcendent glory) and from the ‘status Christ voluntarily set aside’ sense at 2:6-8 — two applications of one cultural value, not a contradiction.

Compassion And Tenderness

Approved rendering: yurmeende e newaare ɓernde
Transliteration: yurmeende e newaare ɓernde
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Original: σπλάγχνα καὶ οἰκτιρμοί
Category: Church

NEW. Philippians 2:1. Consistent with the baseline’s reservation of yurmeende for general mercy/compassion, distinguished there from arjunde (grace).

Selfish Ambition

Approved rendering: yiɗugol hoore-mun tan
Transliteration: yiɗugol hoore-mun tan
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Original: ἐριθεία
Category: Sanctification

NEW. Philippians 2:3 (eritheia). Descriptive compound; low ambiguity risk.

Vain Conceit

Approved rendering: mantoore meere
Transliteration: mantoore meere
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Original: κενοδοξία
Category: Sanctification

NEW. Philippians 2:3 (kenodoxia). Should be distinguished carefully from legitimate teddungal, which this passage does not condemn as such but calls believers to hold loosely for others’ sake.

Looking To Others Interests

Approved rendering: ndeenka needi ɓeya
Transliteration: ndeenka needi ɓeya
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Original: σκοπέω
Category: Sanctification

NEW. Philippians 2:4 (skopeō). Descriptive; low ambiguity risk.

United In Soul

Approved rendering: wonndude e ɓernde wootere
Transliteration: wonndude e ɓernde wootere
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Original: σύμψυχοι
Category: Church

NEW. Philippians 2:2 (sympsychoi). Natural descriptive phrase; low ambiguity risk.

Outward Appearance

Approved rendering: e ɓannge feeñoowo
Transliteration: e ɓannge feeñoowo
Doctrine: Humanity of Christ
Original: σχῆμα
Category: Christology

NEW. Philippians 2:8 (schēma). Distinct from morphē (essential form/nature); must not be confused with that term when both appear in close proximity in 2:6-8.
