Doctrine Analysis

2 Corinthians — Full Doctrine Matrix

Phase 1, Step 4 — Destination Language: Sanskrit

This document extends the Romans-baseline doctrine risk methodology to 2 Corinthians 1–13 and is fully consistent with assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json (same doctrines, same risk tiers, same review routing). It supplements the registry with (a) a single consolidated doctrine matrix and (b) a chapter-by-chapter walk-through across the entire book, so that every chapter’s doctrinal content — or explicit absence of new doctrinal content — is documented, per the PRD’s full-book-coverage mandate. The core passage, 2 Corinthians 5:11–21, is the theological anchor of this book (concentrating Reconciliation with God, New Creation in Christ, and the Judgment Seat of Christ) but is not treated as the boundary of analysis.

Risk tier definitions and review routing follow doctrine_risk_registry.json exactly:

  • Critical → Human theologian review, every occurrence.
  • High → Human theologian review.
  • Medium → Review by a Sanskrit-philosophically-literate scholar (substituting for the vernacular “native speaker” role, per 12_ai_translation_requirements.md).
  • Low → Automated review sufficient.

1. Consolidated Doctrine Matrix

#DoctrineRiskSupporting Passages (2 Corinthians)Translation Risk SummaryReview Routing
1Reconciliation with GodCritical5:18–20; 5:19; 6:2सन्धिः (borrowed from Arthaśāstra ṣāḍguṇya statecraft: a formal treaty ending real hostility) must not collapse into Advaita’s jñāna-based removal of avidyā’s veil, which dispels a merely apparent, never-actual separation. 2 Corinthians presupposes a real breach caused by human sin, overcome solely by God’s initiative and at his own cost, with God — not humanity — as the acting party.Human theologian
2New Creation in ChristCritical5:17; 5:16नवसृष्टिः is unavoidably tied to सृष्टि’s Purāṇic cyclical-cosmology weight (sṛṣṭi-sthiti-pralaya, Brahmā’s kalpa-cycles). Requires mandatory redefinition at every occurrence as a once-for-all, non-repeating transformation of status in Christ — not a new turn of an ongoing cosmic cycle, and not Advaita’s unveiling of a pre-existent identity.Human theologian
3Suffering and Comfort in MinistryHigh1:3–11; 4:7–11; 4:16–18; 6:4–10; 7:4–7; 11:23–29दुःखम् is Sāṃkhya’s foundational suffering-term (resolved elsewhere via viveka toward kaivalya) and the Buddhist First Noble Truth; सान्त्वना must not be reduced to yogic self-generated equanimity (samatva/titikṣā). Suffering shared with Christ is embraced, not dissolved by right knowledge; comfort is a relational gift from a personal God, not a private psychological attainment.Human theologian
4The New Covenant versus the OldHigh3:1–11; 3:14Mīmāṃsā’s eternal, unauthored (apauruṣeya) Veda has no native concept of covenant-supersession; requires explicit historical-background teaching beyond translation alone. लिखितं वचनम् (never अक्षरम्, the eternal syllable/akṣara-brahman) prevents “the letter that kills” from being wrongly sacralized.Human theologian
5The Veil Removed in ChristCritical3:13–18आवरणम् directly names Advaita’s own technical term for avidyā’s veiling power (āvaraṇa-śakti), concealing the pre-existing Ātman-Brahman identity, removed by jñāna. The nearest collision in this curriculum to the baseline’s Holy Spirit/ātman-Brahman risk. The veil here is removed relationally (turning to the Lord, receiving the Spirit, 3:16), never epistemically.Human theologian
6Sincerity and Apostolic AuthorityHigh1:12; 2:17; 4:2; 5:11; 13:5अन्तर्बोधः (conscience) is a deliberately minimal coined compound, avoiding Sāṃkhya’s fourfold internal instrument (antaḥkaraṇa) and Vedānta’s liberating Self/not-Self discrimination (viveka); requires explicit gloss as the moral faculty aware of right and wrong before a personal God. राजदूतः (ambassador, 5:20) conveys delegated representative authority via the Arthaśāstra diplomatic office, avoiding guru-lineage and Vedic-seer authority models.Human theologian
7Generosity and Grace in GivingHigh8:1–15; 9:1–15दानम् activates dharmaśāstra’s entire dāna-dharma merit framework (prescribed gifts to Brahmins/priests generating puṇya); every occurrence must be paired with अनुग्रहः-grounded teaching that giving flows from grace already received, not merit-seeking. समविभागः (equality) deliberately avoids समता (Gītā 2:48’s technical definition of yoga) and साम्यम् (Sāṃkhya’s guṇa-equilibrium).Human theologian
8Power in WeaknessCritical12:7–10; 13:4; 4:7सामर्थ्यम् is mandatory (never शक्तिः, per baseline). Requires explicit, repeated contrast with तपस् — self-generated ascetic power through voluntary hardship (Bhagīratha, Viśvāmitra) — since Paul’s doctrine is the theological inverse: grace-given power resting on acknowledged insufficiency, not earned ascetic attainment.Human theologian
9Genuine versus False ApostleshipHigh10:1–18; 11:1–15; 11:22–33; 12:1–12मिथ्याप्रेषिताः must preserve the sharp line between commissioned, gospel-faithful authority and self-appointed rivals. तृतीयं स्वर्गम् and स्वर्गोद्यानम् must be distinguished from Purāṇic/Gītā svarga-loka (a temporary, karma-merit-dependent heaven exhausted when puṇya runs out, Gītā 9:20-21). श्लाघा (boasting) must avoid अहंकारः (Sāṃkhya’s “I-maker” faculty).Human theologian
10Spiritual Warfare and Satan’s DeceptionCritical2:11; 4:4; 6:14–15; 11:3; 11:14; 12:7शैतानः and बेलियालः are transliterated proper names, never असुरः/राक्षसः (Purāṇic being-classes ultimately subordinate to, and part of, the same cosmic order as the devas). “The god of this age” (4:4) is rendered as usurping ruler-title (अधिपतिः), never as a literal देव, to avoid affirming a real second deity of comparable ultimate status to सर्वेश्वरः.Human theologian
11Godly Grief and RepentanceHigh7:8–11शोकः must be distinguished from the Gītā’s resolution of Arjuna’s grief through metaphysical knowledge that grief rests on a misapprehension of the Self’s eternal nature (Gītā 2:11-30). Paul’s grief/repentance distinction is moral and relational. पश्चात्तापः must never be rendered with प्रायश्चित्तम् (dharmaśāstra’s prescribed ritual penances).Human theologian
12Temple of the Living GodHigh6:14–16मन्दिरम् is used here as a deliberate, contextually limited exception to the baseline’s rejection of मन्दिरम् for “church” (मण्डली); conveys God’s indwelling presence among his people, not a building. Must not be extended back onto मण्डली elsewhere.Human theologian
13Apostolic Suffering as Validation of MinistryHigh4:7–12; 6:3–10; 11:23–29; 12:9–10Paul’s hardship catalogue authenticates rather than undermines his apostleship — inverting the honor-shame expectation that a genuine royal envoy display visible strength. Must not be assimilated to तपस्-earned spiritual authority; sufferings are marks of authentic commissioning and grace, not merit or attainment.Human theologian
14Trinitarian Fellowship BenedictionCritical13:14Fixed liturgical unit naming all three Persons (grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, love of God, fellowship of the Holy Spirit); per baseline cross-document consistency rule, must render identically at every citation. प्रीतिः (never प्रेम/कामः) and पवित्र आत्मा (with mandatory personhood note) carry the highest stakes in the formula.Human theologian
15Judgment Seat of ChristMedium5:10न्यायासनम् is a concrete forensic compound consistent with the established Nyāya/Mīmāṃsā judicial register used for justification/condemnation vocabulary; risk limited to mild resonance with the Nyāya darśana’s proper name, mitigated by the compound’s concrete tribunal sense.Sanskrit-philosophically-literate scholar
16Unequal Yoke / Purity in RelationshipsMedium6:14–7:1युग (“yoke”) is homonymous with युग as “cosmic age” (the four Purāṇic yugas). Context (mismatched draft-animals image) disambiguates clearly, but a translator note is advisable given this curriculum’s other linear-vs-cyclical-time discussions.Sanskrit-philosophically-literate scholar
17Thanksgiving in AfflictionLow1:11; 2:14; 4:15; 8:16; 9:11–12, 15Standard low-risk term; minor risk only of over-ritualized formulaic rendering displacing relational, God-directed gratitude.Automated review

Corrected tier counts (matching doctrine_risk_registry.json doctrine-level tier assignments): Critical = 6, High = 8, Medium = 2, Low = 1; Total = 17. Aggregate review-routing totals match the registry: 14 doctrines require human theologian review (Critical + High), 2 require Sanskrit-scholar review, 1 requires automated review only.

2. Chapter-by-Chapter Coverage (2 Corinthians 1–13)

Every chapter is reviewed below. Where a chapter’s content is procedural, relational, or repeats doctrine already covered without introducing new terms or doctrinal risk, this is stated explicitly rather than omitted.

Chapter 1

  • Doctrines present: Suffering and Comfort in Ministry (1:3–11, the God of all comfort who comforts in affliction so that comfort can be passed on); Sincerity and Apostolic Authority (1:12, Paul’s conscience/sincerity in dealing with the Corinthians); Thanksgiving in Affliction (1:11); groundwork for the Trinitarian benediction pattern (1:2–3, grace and peace from Father and Lord).
  • Key terms: सान्त्वना, पीडा, अन्तर्बोधः, सरलता, अनुग्रहः, शान्तिः, धन्यवादः.
  • Notes: 1:1 also carries baseline “apostle,” “saints,” and “election” terms (Paul’s apostleship “by the will of God”), reviewed as consistent baseline reuse with no new risk.

Chapter 2

  • Doctrines present: Spiritual Warfare and Satan’s Deception (2:11, “so that we would not be outwitted by Satan”); Sincerity and Apostolic Authority (2:17, “not peddlers of God’s word” — contrasted with false teaching for profit).
  • Key terms: शैतानः, सरलता, सुगन्धः (aroma of Christ, 2:14–16, tagged under Gospel proclamation per glossary #39).
  • Notes: 2:1–10 (forgiveness of the offending party, restoration to fellowship) is reviewed: it draws on baseline “fellowship” (सहभागिता) and general church-discipline vocabulary but introduces no new doctrine-level term or risk beyond what is already registered.

Chapter 3

  • Doctrines present: The New Covenant versus the Old (3:1–11); The Veil Removed in Christ (3:13–18).
  • Key terms: नवीना संविद्, लिखितं वचनम्, दोषनिर्णयः, आवरणम्, महिमा, रूपान्तरम्, पवित्र आत्मा.
  • Notes: This chapter concentrates two of the book’s highest-stakes risk clusters (High and Critical respectively) and must be flagged for priority theologian review in Phase 2 given the आवरणम्/āvaraṇa-śakti collision.

Chapter 4

  • Doctrines present: Spiritual Warfare and Satan’s Deception (4:4, “the god of this age has blinded”); Suffering and Comfort in Ministry (4:7–11, “treasure in jars of clay,” 4:16–18, outer/inner man being renewed); Apostolic Suffering as Validation of Ministry (4:7–12).
  • Key terms: अस्य युगस्य अधिपतिः, दुःखम्, बाह्यः जनः / आन्तरिकः जनः, महिमा, परमेश्वरस्य सामर्थ्यम्.
  • Notes: The “outer man/inner man” contrast (4:16) requires the glossary’s mandatory avoidance of आत्मन् and पुरुषः; flagged for consistency with the Holy Spirit personhood-note discipline even though आत्मन् itself is not used here.

Chapter 5

  • Doctrines present (core passage, 5:11–21): Sincerity and Apostolic Authority (5:11, “fear of the Lord” motivating persuasion); Judgment Seat of Christ (5:10); New Creation in Christ (5:16–17); Reconciliation with God (5:18–21), including the ambassador image (5:20) and the substitutionary righteousness exchange (5:21, tied to baseline “imputed righteousness”).
  • Key terms: न्यायासनम्, लौकिकदृष्ट्या, नवसृष्टिः, सन्धिः, संधानम्, जगत्, राजदूतः, पापम्, धार्मिकता, आरोपिता धार्मिकता.
  • Notes: This chapter is the theological anchor of the entire book and concentrates the two highest-density Critical doctrines (Reconciliation, New Creation) alongside the Medium-risk Judgment Seat term. Every occurrence in this chapter requires human theologian review without exception; no segment in 5:11–21 may be routed to automated or Sanskrit-scholar-only review.

Chapter 6

  • Doctrines present: Apostolic Suffering as Validation of Ministry (6:3–10, Paul’s hardship catalogue as commendation); Temple of the Living God (6:16); Unequal Yoke / Purity in Relationships (6:14–7:1, spanning the chapter boundary); Spiritual Warfare and Satan’s Deception (6:15, Belial).
  • Key terms: दुःखम्, मन्दिरम्, विषमयुगम्, बेलियालः, पवित्र आत्मा.
  • Notes: 6:14–7:1 is treated as a single unit spanning chapters 6–7 for doctrine-routing purposes, consistent with the registry’s own passage citation.

Chapter 7

  • Doctrines present: Unequal Yoke / Purity in Relationships continuation (7:1, “let us cleanse ourselves”); Suffering and Comfort in Ministry (7:4–7, Titus’s arrival and comfort); Godly Grief and Repentance (7:8–11).
  • Key terms: पवित्रीकरणम्, सान्त्वना, शोकः, पश्चात्तापः.
  • Notes: 7:2–7 (Paul’s relational appeal and joy at Titus’s news) is reviewed: it draws on baseline “fellowship”/“comfort” vocabulary already covered, with no new doctrinal risk beyond Suffering and Comfort in Ministry.

Chapter 8

  • Doctrines present: Generosity and Grace in Giving (8:1–15).
  • Key terms: उदारता, दानम्, समविभागः, हृष्टः दाता (anticipated from ch. 9), अनुग्रहः.
  • Notes: 8:9 (“though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor”) is flagged as conceptually adjacent to the Incarnation doctrine (देहधारणम्) established in the Romans baseline; while not itself introducing a new term, it should carry a cross-reference note to the baseline’s Incarnation entry in Phase 2. 8:16–24 (arrangements for Titus and the collection’s administration) is reviewed as procedural narrative introducing no new doctrinal terms.

Chapter 9

  • Doctrines present: Generosity and Grace in Giving continuation (9:1–15); Thanksgiving in Affliction (9:11–12, 15).
  • Key terms: दानम्, हृष्टः दाता, समविभागः, धन्यवादः, अनुग्रहः.
  • Notes: 9:7 (“God loves a cheerful giver”) is the key verse for the हृष्टः दाता term; low doctrinal collision but must retain the grace-not-merit framing established for the whole Generosity doctrine.

Chapter 10

  • Doctrines present: Genuine versus False Apostleship (10:1–18, Paul’s defense of his authority and boundaries of ministry); Sincerity and Apostolic Authority (10:1, appeal by the meekness and gentleness of Christ); Spiritual Warfare imagery (10:3–5, “weapons of our warfare,” “we destroy arguments”) — reviewed under the same doctrine as 2:11/4:4/6:15 given the shared warfare register, though this passage names no personal adversary and is lower-risk in isolation.
  • Key terms: अतिश्रेष्ठाः प्रेषिताः, श्लाघा, सरलता, प्रेषितः.
  • Notes: 10:3-5’s warfare metaphor is flagged for cultural-metaphor review (per the baseline’s flagging category for military/cultural metaphors) rather than treated as a full Critical spiritual-warfare occurrence, since it concerns argument and thought rather than the person of Satan.

Chapter 11

  • Doctrines present: Genuine versus False Apostleship (11:1–15, false apostles and super-apostles; 11:22–33, Paul’s catalogue of sufferings as counter-credential); Spiritual Warfare and Satan’s Deception (11:3, the serpent’s deception of Eve; 11:14, Satan disguised as an angel of light); Apostolic Suffering as Validation of Ministry (11:23–29).
  • Key terms: मिथ्याप्रेषिताः, अतिश्रेष्ठाः प्रेषिताः, श्लाघा, शैतानः, दुःखम्.
  • Notes: This is the densest chapter for the False Apostleship and Spiritual Warfare doctrines simultaneously; both are Critical/High and require theologian review at every occurrence, especially 11:14’s direct naming of Satanic deception.

Chapter 12

  • Doctrines present: Genuine versus False Apostleship (12:1–12, the third heaven/paradise vision and the signs of a true apostle); Power in Weakness (12:7–10, the thorn in the flesh and “my grace is sufficient”).
  • Key terms: तृतीयं स्वर्गम्, स्वर्गोद्यानम्, शरीरे कण्टकः, दुर्बलता, परमेश्वरस्य सामर्थ्यम्, अनुग्रहः.
  • Notes: 12:9–10 is the single most important passage for the तपस्-contrast requirement under Power in Weakness; every rendering of “power is made perfect in weakness” here must carry the mandatory translator note distinguishing grace-given power from ascetic self-generated power.

Chapter 13

  • Doctrines present: Power in Weakness (13:4, “he was crucified in weakness, but lives by the power of God”); Sincerity and Apostolic Authority (13:5, “examine yourselves, whether you are in the faith”); Trinitarian Fellowship Benediction (13:14).
  • Key terms: दुर्बलता, परमेश्वरस्य सामर्थ्यम्, विश्वासः, अनुग्रहः, प्रीतिः, पवित्र आत्मा, प्रभुः.
  • Notes: 13:14 must be rendered identically to any other citation of this benediction across the curriculum, per the baseline’s cross-document consistency rule; this is the single highest-priority verse in the closing chapter for theologian review, concentrating three Critical-tier terms (grace, love, Holy Spirit fellowship) in one fixed liturgical unit.

3. Full-Book Coverage Confirmation

All thirteen chapters of 2 Corinthians have been reviewed above. No chapter was found to contain zero doctrinally load-bearing content; every chapter either introduces or continues at least one doctrine from the consolidated matrix in Section 1. Procedural or narrative sub-sections that introduce no new terms (2:1–10; 7:2–7; 8:16–24) are explicitly noted as reviewed rather than silently omitted, per the PRD’s full-book-coverage mandate.

This document must be loaded alongside translation_memory.json, bible_term_registry.json, and doctrine_risk_registry.json before any Phase 2 segment translation begins. Risk tiers and review routing recorded here are binding and must not be re-litigated per-segment; only new terms not yet present in the glossary require fresh risk assignment, following the escalation procedure in 12_ai_translation_requirements.md.

Critical Risk Doctrines

Reconciliation with God

Sanskrit name: परमेश्वरेण सह सन्धिः
Key terms: reconciliation, reconcile, world_kosmos, sin, imputed_righteousness
Review routing: Human theologian

सन्धिः is borrowed from Kauṭilya’s Arthaśāstra ṣāḍguṇya political theory (sandhi = formal peace treaty ending hostility, as opposed to vigraha = war), giving reconciliation real technical weight as the ending of an actual breach. Must be explicitly distinguished from Advaita Vedānta’s jñāna-based removal of avidyā’s veil, which dispels a merely apparent (not actual) separation between Ātman and Brahman never really broken; 2 Corinthians presupposes a real, culpable breach (sin, enmity) really overcome by God’s own initiative, at his own cost, while humanity was the offending party — not a mutual negotiated peace between equals.

New Creation in Christ

Sanskrit name: ख्रीष्टे नवसृष्टिः
Key terms: new_creation, according_to_the_flesh, transformation
Review routing: Human theologian

नवसृष्टिः is unavoidably tied to सृष्टि’s Purāṇic cyclical-cosmology weight (sṛṣṭi-sthiti-pralaya, Brahmā’s kalpa-cycles across which creation is periodically destroyed and remade). Like धार्मिकता in the baseline, this weight cannot be escaped by word choice alone and requires mandatory redefinition at every occurrence: a once-for-all, non-repeating transformation of the believer’s status in Christ, not a new turn of an ongoing cosmic creation-dissolution cycle, and not the Advaitic unveiling of a pre-existent identity.

The Veil Removed in Christ

Sanskrit name: ख्रीष्टे आवरणापनयनम्
Key terms: veil, holy_spirit, transformation, glory
Review routing: Human theologian

आवरणम् directly names Advaita Vedānta’s own technical term for avidyā’s veiling power (āvaraṇa-śakti), which conceals the pre-existing, ever-true identity of Ātman and Brahman, removed by jñāna (self-inquiry). This is the closest collision in this curriculum to the baseline’s single highest-stakes Holy Spirit/ātman-Brahman risk. The veil in 2 Corinthians 3 is removed only relationally — by turning to the Lord (3:16) and receiving the Spirit — never epistemically, by knowledge unveiling a pre-existing non-dual identity; every occurrence requires the same severity of mandatory note as पवित्र आत्मा itself.

Power in Weakness

Sanskrit name: दुर्बलतायां सामर्थ्यम्
Key terms: weakness, power_perfected_in_weakness, power_of_god, thorn_in_the_flesh
Review routing: Human theologian

सामर्थ्यम् is mandatory per baseline (NEVER शक्तिः, the hypostasized Śākta Tantric divine feminine creative power). 2 Corinthians 12:9 additionally requires explicit, repeated contrast with तपस् (tapas) — the well-attested classical doctrine (Purāṇic Bhagīratha, Viśvāmitra narratives) in which spiritual/supernatural power is self-generated by the practitioner through voluntary ascetic discipline and hardship. Paul’s doctrine is the theological inverse: Christ’s power freely resting on acknowledged human insufficiency, a gift given precisely where self-sufficiency has run out, not power earned through disciplined suffering.

Spiritual Warfare and Satan’s Deception

Sanskrit name: आत्मिकं युद्धं शैतानस्य वञ्चना च
Key terms: satan, belial, god_of_this_age
Review routing: Human theologian

शैतानः and बेलियालः must be transliterated as proper names, never rendered with असुरः or राक्षसः, which name classes of being within Purāṇic cosmology’s mythological hierarchy, ultimately subordinate to and part of the same cosmic order as the devas — a fundamentally different structure from a created, judged, temporarily-permitted adversary. ‘The god of this age’ (4:4) must be rendered as a usurping ruler-title (अधिपतिः), never as a literal देव, to avoid affirming a real second deity of comparable ultimate status to सर्वेश्वरः.

Trinitarian Fellowship Benediction

Sanskrit name: त्रित्वस्य आशीर्वचनम्
Key terms: grace, love_agape, fellowship, holy_spirit, lord, jesus, god
Review routing: Human theologian

This closing formula names all three Persons of the Trinity in a single fixed liturgical unit (grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, love of God, fellowship of the Holy Spirit) and per the baseline’s cross-document consistency rule must be rendered identically at every citation across this curriculum. प्रीतिः (never प्रेम or कामः) and पवित्र आत्मा (with its mandatory personhood note) carry the highest-stakes terms in the formula; any deviation in this verse across documents creates both a doctrinal and a consistency failure.

High Risk Doctrines

Suffering and Comfort in Ministry

Sanskrit name: सेवायां दुःखं सान्त्वना च
Key terms: comfort, affliction, suffering, mercies_compassion, outer_man, inner_man, jars_of_clay
Review routing: Human theologian

दुःखम् is the foundational term of Sāṃkhya’s tripartite suffering-doctrine (ādhyātmika/ādhibhautika/ādhidaivika, resolved via viveka toward kaivalya) and the Buddhist First Noble Truth; सान्त्वना must not be reduced to yogic self-generated equanimity (samatva, titikṣā, Gītā 2:14-15). Suffering shared with Christ is embraced and redemptive, not a metaphysical problem dissolved by right knowledge; comfort is a relational gift actively given by a personal God amid real affliction, not a private psychological attainment.

The New Covenant versus the Old

Sanskrit name: नवीना पुराणा च संविद्
Key terms: new_covenant, the_letter, condemnation, law, covenant
Review routing: Human theologian

Mīmāṃsā’s doctrine of the eternal, unauthored (apauruṣeya), never-superseded Veda has no native concept of a covenant becoming obsolete and replaced; the very idea of one covenant giving way to another requires explicit historical-background explanation, not translation alone. लिखितं वचनम् (never अक्षरम्, which names the eternal syllable/akṣara-brahman) keeps ‘the letter that kills’ from being wrongly sacralized.

Sincerity and Apostolic Authority

Sanskrit name: सरलता प्रेषितत्वाधिकारः च
Key terms: sincerity, conscience, ambassador, fear_of_the_lord, apostle
Review routing: Human theologian

अन्तर्बोधः (conscience) is a deliberately coined, minimally-loaded compound because both obvious classical candidates (अन्तःकरणम्, विवेकः) are already fully theorized psychological-soteriological categories in Sāṃkhya/Vedānta; it must be explicitly glossed as the moral faculty aware of right and wrong before a personal God. राजदूतः (ambassador) correctly conveys delegated, representative authority via the classical Arthaśāstra diplomatic office, avoiding both guru-lineage and Vedic-seer authority models already rejected under ‘apostle’ in the baseline.

Generosity and Grace in Giving

Sanskrit name: दाने अनुग्रहः औदार्यं च
Key terms: generosity, gift_giving, equality_fair_distribution, cheerful_giver, grace
Review routing: Human theologian

दानम् is the unavoidable ordinary word for ‘gift’ but activates dharmaśāstra’s entire dāna-dharma framework, in which prescribed gifts to Brahmins/priests generate puṇya (merit) for the giver, catalogued by recipient and occasion. Every occurrence must be paired with अनुग्रहः-grounded teaching that Christian giving flows from grace already received, not merit-generating religious obligation; समविभागः (fair distribution) deliberately avoids समता (the Gītā’s own technical definition of yoga, 2:48) and साम्यम् (Sāṃkhya’s guṇa-equilibrium state).

Genuine versus False Apostleship

Sanskrit name: सत्यमिथ्या प्रेषितत्वम्
Key terms: super_apostles, false_apostles, boasting, third_heaven, paradise, apostle
Review routing: Human theologian

मिथ्याप्रेषिताः must preserve the sharp distinction between commissioned, gospel-faithful apostolic authority and self-appointed rival teachers. तृतीयं स्वर्गम् and स्वर्गोद्यानम् must be explicitly distinguished from Purāṇic/Gītā svarga-loka, a temporary, karma-merit-dependent heavenly realm exhausted when accumulated puṇya runs out (Gītā 9:20-21) — Paul’s vision is of God’s own eternal presence, not a temporary merit-based heavenly waystation. श्लाघा (boasting) must avoid अहंकारः, Sāṃkhya’s technical ‘I-maker’ faculty, an unrelated metaphysical category.

Godly Grief and Repentance

Sanskrit name: दैविकः शोकः पश्चात्तापः च
Key terms: grief, repentance, sin
Review routing: Human theologian

शोकः must be distinguished from the Bhagavad Gītā’s resolution of Arjuna’s grief (śoka/viṣāda, 1:47-2:1) through metaphysical knowledge that grief is founded on a misapprehension of the Self’s eternal, unslayable nature (Gītā 2:11-30, ‘you should not grieve’). Paul’s two-track distinction (grief producing repentance and life vs. grief producing death) is moral and relational, not epistemic. पश्चात्तापः must never be rendered with प्रायश्चित्तम्, the dharmaśāstra system of prescribed ritual penances for catalogued sins.

Temple of the Living God

Sanskrit name: जीवत्परमेश्वरस्य मन्दिरम्
Key terms: temple_of_living_god, holy_spirit, unequal_yoke, church
Review routing: Human theologian

मन्दिरम् is used here as a deliberate, contextually limited exception to the baseline’s rejection of मन्दिरम् for ‘church’ (मण्डली); it correctly conveys God’s own indwelling presence among his people, not a building or institution. Translators must not extend मन्दिरम् usage beyond this specific indwelling-image back onto मण्डली elsewhere in the curriculum.

Apostolic Suffering as Validation of Ministry

Sanskrit name: प्रेषितत्वस्य दुःखेन प्रमाणम्
Key terms: suffering, weakness, boasting, false_apostles
Review routing: Human theologian

Paul’s catalogue of hardships authenticates, rather than undermines, his apostleship — the reverse of the honor-shame expectation that a genuine envoy of a great king should be marked by visible strength and success. This must not be assimilated to तपस्-earned spiritual authority (self-generated power through ascetic hardship); Paul’s sufferings are marks of Christ’s authentic commissioning and grace, not sources of merit or attainment.

Medium Risk Doctrines

Judgment Seat of Christ

Sanskrit name: ख्रीष्टस्य न्यायासनम्
Key terms: judgment_seat_of_christ, resurrection
Review routing: Native speaker review

न्यायासनम् (‘seat of judgment’) is a concrete forensic compound consistent with the Nyāya/Mīmāṃsā judicial register already established for justification/condemnation vocabulary; risk is limited to mild resonance with the Nyāya darśana’s proper name, mitigated by the compound’s concrete tribunal sense rather than the bare darśana name.

Unequal Yoke / Purity in Relationships

Sanskrit name: विषमयुगवर्जनम्
Key terms: unequal_yoke, belial, temple_of_living_god
Review routing: Native speaker review

युग (‘yoke,’ the agricultural image) is homonymous with युग as ‘cosmic age’ (the four Purāṇic yugas already discussed under Fulfillment of Prophecy in the Romans baseline). Context (the agricultural mismatched-draft-animals image) disambiguates clearly, but a translator note is advisable given this curriculum’s other discussions of linear versus cyclical time.

Low Risk Doctrines

Thanksgiving in Affliction

Sanskrit name: पीडायां धन्यवादः
Key terms: thanksgiving, mercies_compassion
Review routing: Automated review

Standard low-risk term; minor risk only of over-ritualization if रुढ धन्यवाद formulas are substituted for the relational, God-directed gratitude Paul intends.
