Lord
Joom (‘owner/master,’ attested in Pular Christian usage, e.g. ‘Joom Yeesu Kiristu’) is preferred as the primary term. Laamiiɗo (ruler, also used for the historic Sokoto Caliphate’s rulers) carries specific Islamic-state political resonance in Fulani regions and should be avoided as the default term for Christ’s Lordship, to prevent readers from mapping it onto a memory of Caliphate political authority rather than personal, spiritual, exclusive Lordship.
