God’s sovereign personal choice. судьба/рок (fate/doom) are strongly present in Russian folk and literary fatalism and must never substitute. предопределение (predestination) is a legitimate theological term but carries loaded associations with Reformed/Calvinist debates largely foreign to Orthodox soteriology; use избрание as the primary term and introduce предопределение only with explicit definition where the text requires it.
