Note for theological precision: Orthodox Palamite theology distinguishes God’s unknowable essence from his knowable, uncreated ‘energies’ (энергии), a term sometimes used interchangeably with ‘grace’ and ‘power’ in Orthodox devotional writing; энергия should not be substituted here, to keep Romans 1:16’s plain sense (God’s saving power at work through the gospel) free of that specialized technical debate.
