Father

A genuine positive resource: ‘Avinu Malkeinu’ (‘Our Father, Our King’) is a cherished High Holy Day liturgical address. The risk is scope, not collision: Avinu in Jewish liturgy is corporate (the Father of the whole community of Israel), while Romans 8 develops an individualized, intimate filial cry - an emphasis-shift to teach, not a contradiction to resolve.
