Table 2 — New Terms Introduced by 1 Thessalonians (Candidate Renderings)
| # | English Term | Greek | Transliteration | Gujarati Rendering | Transliteration (Guj.) | Risk | Alternatives Rejected | Rationale / Collision Risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sleep (euphemism for death of believers) | κοιμάομαι (κοιμωμένων / κοιμηθέντας) | koimaomai | ઊંઘી ગયેલા | ūṅghī gayelā | Critical | મરણ પામેલા (flattens the hope-bearing euphemism) | Must not be read through Jain jīva-transmigration or generic rebirth expectation; sleep implies one certain future waking (bodily resurrection). Anchor term for Hope in Grief. |
| 2 | Hope | ἐλπίς | elpis | આશા | āśā | High | — | Must carry technical sense of certain expectation grounded in Christ’s resurrection, not vague optimism or resignation to karmic cycle. |
| 3 | Love (agapē) | ἀγάπη | agapē | પ્રેમ | prem | High | — | Standard term, but risks conflation with Vaishnav bhakti’s romantic-devotional પ્રેમ (Krishna-devotion, Dwarka-linked Pushti Mārg tradition); must be anchored to selfless, active, communal love, not devotional emotion toward a chosen deity. |
| 4 | Brotherly love | φιλαδελφία | philadelphia | ભાઈચારાનો પ્રેમ | bhāīchārāno prem | Medium | — | Built on entry 3; specifies familial-communal scope. |
| 5 | The Return of Christ / Coming (parousia) | παρουσία | parousia | પુનરાગમન | punarāgaman | Critical | અવતાર (forbidden — see baseline incarnation entry); આગમન alone (loses “return/again” sense) | Must be a single, unique, final, personal return of the same historical Jesus — not a repeatable avatar-descent (salient given nearby Dwarka) nor a recurring Tirthankara-appearance pattern. Central term for “The Return of Christ.” |
| 6 | Caught up (rapture) | ἁρπάζω (ἁρπαγησόμεθα) | harpazō | ઉપર ખેંચી લેવાશું | upar khenchī levāśũ | Critical | આરોહણ alone (risks reading as a permanent, isolating ascent) | Must be taught as temporary gathering to escort the returning, actively reigning Lord, not a final withdrawal into isolated liberation — explicit contrast with the Jain siddha’s permanent non-interactive withdrawal to siddha-loka (per baseline “lord” entry). |
| 7 | Meeting (of the Lord) | ἀπάντησις | apantēsis | પ્રભુને સામે મળવા | Prabhune sāme maḷvā | Medium | મળવું alone (loses royal-welcome/escort nuance) | Technical term for a delegation welcoming an arriving king and returning with him; reinforces that “caught up” leads to ongoing accompaniment, not departure. |
| 8 | The Day of the Lord | ἡμέρα κυρίου | hēmera kyriou | પ્રભુનો દિવસ | Prabhu no Divas | Critical | — | Must be a single, historically final day of divine reckoning tied to Christ’s personal return, never assimilated to a recurring yuga-cycle transition or impersonal Jain cosmic time-period. |
| 9 | Wrath (of God) | ὀργή | orgē | કોપ | kop | High | ક્રોધ (too generic/impulsive) | Personal, judicial response of God to sin; must not be read as impersonal karmic retribution (karma-phala), which operates with no personal judge. |
| 10 | Affliction / tribulation | θλῖψις | thlipsis | સંકટ | saṅkaṭ | Medium | — | Foretold hardship accompanying gospel witness. |
| 11 | Tempter / to tempt | πειράζω / ὁ πειράζων | peirazō | પરીક્ષણ કરનાર | parīkṣaṇ karnār | Medium | — | Personal spiritual opposition (Satan), not an impersonal karmic “test.” |
| 12 | Satan | Σατανᾶς | Satanas | શેતાન | Śetān | Medium | — | Personal malevolent adversary, not an impersonal force of cosmic imbalance. |
| 13 | Idols | εἴδωλα | eidōla | મૂર્તિઓ | mūrtio | High | — | Extremely salient given widespread Hindu murti-pūjā and Jain derasar image-veneration in Gujarat; verse requires a decisive turning away from all image-devotion. |
| 14 | Living and true God | θεὸς ζῶν καὶ ἀληθινός | theos zōn kai alēthinos | જીવતા અને સાચા પરમેશ્વર | jīvtā ane sāchā Parmeśvar | High | — | Contrasts God’s active, personal reality against lifeless idols and impersonal ultimate-reality concepts. |
| 15 | Imitators | μιμηταί | mimētai | અનુકરણ કરનારા | anukaraṇ karnārā | Low | — | Following a pattern of life, not mere admiration. |
| 16 | To establish/strengthen | στηρίζω | stērizō | સ્થિર કરવું | sthir karvũ | Low | — | Strengthening faith against affliction. |
| 17 | Holiness (quality-noun) | ἁγιωσύνη | hagiōsynē | પવિત્રતા | pavitratā | Medium | — | Distinguished from the process-noun પવિત્રીકરણ (sanctification); the state of set-apartness in view at Christ’s return. |
| 18 | Blameless | ἄμεμπτος | amemptos | નિર્દોષ | nirdoṣ | Medium | — | Positional standing from God’s sanctifying grace, not a self-attained sinless state (risk of Jain-perfected-soul conflation). |
| 19 | Vessel (body/wife) | σκεῦος | skeuos | પાત્ર | pātra | High | — | Preserves the same referential ambiguity as the Greek; flagged for mandatory theologian review at point of use. |
| 20 | Sexual immorality | πορνεία | porneia | વ્યભિચાર | vyabhichār | Medium | — | Broader than English “fornication”; the negative content of sanctification in 4:3. |
| 21 | To be quiet (settled life) | ἡσυχάζω | hēsychazō | શાંતિથી જીવવું | śāntithī jīvavũ | Low | — | A settled, non-disruptive life of ordinary work. |
| 22 | Thief (in the night, idiom) | κλέπτης | kleptēs | ચોર | chor | Low | — | Idiom for suddenness/unpredictability; believers not caught unaware. |
| 23 | Destruction (sudden) | ὄλεθρος | olethros | વિનાશ | vināś | Medium | — | Sudden judgment on the unprepared at the Day of the Lord. |
| 24 | Children/sons of light | υἱοὶ φωτός | huioi phōtos | પ્રકાશના સંતાનો | prakāśnā santāno | Medium | — | Moral-spiritual identity metaphor, not an ontological light/dark dualism of two equal cosmic principles. |
| 25 | Sober / watchful | νήφω / γρηγορέω | nēphō / grēgoreō | સાવધ રહેવું / જાગૃત રહેવું | sāvadh rehvũ / jāgṛt rehvũ | Low | — | Practical alertness appropriate to awaiting the Day of the Lord. |
| 26 | Quench (the Spirit) | σβέννυμι | sbennumi | ઓલવવું | olavavũ | Medium | — | Suppressing the Spirit’s personal activity; not a literal ritual-fire reference. |
| 27 | Spirit (human) | πνεῦμα (human) | pneuma | આત્મા (human sense) | ātmā | Medium | — | Context must distinguish from પવિત્ર આત્મા (Holy Spirit). |
| 28 | Soul | ψυχή | psychē | પ્રાણ | prāṇ | Critical | જીવ (forbidden — see rationale) | જીવ is the precise Jain technical term for the eternal soul-substance bound to karma and migrating between bodies until self-attained liberation; using it here would import that entire framework into a text about the whole person kept blameless by grace. |
| 29 | Body | σῶμα | sōma | દેહ / શરીર | deh / śarīr | Low | — | Aligns with baseline incarnation root દેહધારણ. |
| 30 | Grieve/sorrow | λυπέω | lypeō | શોક કરવો | śok karavũ | Medium | — | Must not forbid all mourning, only the hopeless kind; contrast term for Hope in Grief. |
| 31 | Word of the Lord | λόγος κυρίου | logos kyriou | પ્રભુનું વચન | Prabhu nũ vachan | Medium | — | Authoritative revealed teaching, not devotional “sacred speech” generally. |
| 32 | Trumpet of God | σάλπιγξ θεοῦ | salpinx theou | પરમેશ્વરનું રણશિંગડું | Parmeśvarnũ raṇśiṅgḍũ | High | શંખ (forbidden — see rationale) | Must avoid the conch shell (શંખ), the instrument of Hindu temple ritual and, regionally, of Krishna’s Panchajanya conch near Dwarka; રણશિંગડું keeps the register military-triumphal. |
| 33 | Archangel | ἀρχάγγελος | archangelos | મુખ્ય દેવદૂત | mukhya devdūt | Low-Medium | — | A created, sent messenger, not an object of worship in his own right. |
| 34 | Shout of command | κέλευσμα | keleusma | હાકલ | hākal | Medium | — | Authoritative summons-cry, not merely a loud noise. |
| 35 | Clouds | νεφέλαι | nephelai | વાદળો | vādaḷo | Low | — | Standard theophanic imagery. |
| 36 | Air | ἀήρ | aēr | હવા | havā | Low | — | Lower atmosphere, locative detail. |
| 37 | To precede/go before | φθάνω | phthanō | આગળ જવું | āgaḷ javũ | Low | — | Dead and living believers share equal standing at the parousia. |
Cross-Document Consistency Notes
- παρουσία must be rendered પુનરાગમન identically at every occurrence (2:19; 3:13; 4:15; 5:23) and across all future 1 Thessalonians lesson documents, matching the Theological Consistency Rules established in the baseline
12_ai_translation_requirements.md. - ψυχή → પ્રાણ (never જીવ) must be enforced identically at every future occurrence across this curriculum, on the same footing as the baseline’s forbidden-substitution list for salvation/righteousness/resurrection.
- σάλπιγξ θεοῦ → પરમેશ્વરનું રણશિંગડું (never શંખ) should be added to the forbidden-substitution list in any future translation_memory update for this curriculum.
- κοιμάομαι → ઊંઘી ગયેલા must be used consistently at every occurrence in 4:13-15 and should not be varied stylistically, since consistency itself carries the doctrinal point (the euphemism is the argument).
- All Table 1 terms are governed by the baseline
translation_memory.jsonand require no new decision; Table 2 terms are new proposals pending confirmation and formal addition to translation memory before Phase 2 segment translation begins.
Critical Risk Terms
Grace
Approved rendering: કૃપા
Transliteration: kṛpā
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: મહેરબાની, કર્મફળ, પુણ્ય, નિર્જરા
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. CRITICAL: unearned favor through Christ alone; never નિર્જરા (Jain karmic shedding) or પુણ્ય (merit). Opens and closes 1 Thessalonians (1:1; 5:28).
Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: પવિત્ર આત્મા
Transliteration: Pavitra Ātmā
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: પરમાત્મા, બ્રહ્મ
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. CRITICAL: never પરમાત્મા or બ્રહ્મ. Occurs 1:5,6; 4:8; 5:19. Must be clearly distinguished by context from the human spirit (see ‘spirit_human’ entry) at 5:23.
Son Of God
Approved rendering: પરમેશ્વરનો પુત્ર
Transliteration: Parmeśvarno Putra
Doctrine: Sonship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: દેવપુરુષ, અવતારી પુરુષ
Original: υἱὸς αὐτοῦ (θεοῦ)

Inherited from Romans package. Full phrase required. Occurs 1:10, ‘his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead.‘
Resurrection
Approved rendering: પુનરુત્થાન
Transliteration: punarutthān
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ / Resurrection of Believers
Rejected alternatives: પુનર્જન્મ, ફરી અવતરવું
Original: ἀνάστασις / ἀνίστημι / ἐγείρω
Category: Eschatology
Inherited from Romans package. CRITICAL: never પુનર્જન્મ. In 1 Thessalonians governs both Christ’s past resurrection (1:10) and believers’ future bodily resurrection (4:14,16), which must be built on the same root/word-family (verb forms ઊઠ્યો/ઊઠશે) so the causal link to Christ’s own resurrection is visible. Never assimilated to Jain jīva-transmigration between bodies driven by karma-particles.
Righteousness Root
Approved rendering: ન્યાયીપણું
Transliteration: nyāyīpaṇũ
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: ધર્મ, પુણ્ય, સમ્યક્ ચારિત્ર્ય
Original: δικαίως
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package (root/word-family). Never ધર્મ. In 1 Thessalonians occurs only in root/adverbial form at 2:10 (‘how justly we behaved’), describing apostolic conduct; must still avoid any self-effort-merit reading.
Lord
Approved rendering: પ્રભુ
Transliteration: prabhu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: સ્વામી, તીર્થંકર
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package. CRITICAL: living, presently reigning sovereign who personally re-enters history at the parousia — explicitly distinct from a Jain siddha’s permanent, non-interactive withdrawal to siddha-loka. Occurs throughout; especially 4:15-17; 5:2,9,23.
Salvation
Approved rendering: ઉદ્ધાર
Transliteration: uddhār
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: મોક્ષ, મુક્તિ, કેવલજ્ઞાન, સિદ્ધત્વ

Transliteration: Īsu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ઈસા
Original: Ἰησοῦς

God
Approved rendering: પરમેશ્વર
Transliteration: Parmeśvar
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ઈશ્વર, ભગવાન
Original: θεός
Category: God

Father
Approved rendering: પિતા
Transliteration: Pitā
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Rejected alternatives: સૃષ્ટિકર્તા
Original: πατήρ
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. Personal, relational Father. Occurs 1:1,3; 3:11,13.
Christ
Approved rendering: ખ્રિસ્ત
Transliteration: Khrist
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ / Sonship of Christ
Original: Χριστός
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package transliteration standards (baseline 12_ai_translation_requirements.md). Established Gujarati Christian form; part of the title ‘Lord Jesus Christ’ used throughout the letter.
Sleep Koimaomai
Approved rendering: ઊંઘી ગયેલા
Transliteration: ūṅghī gayelā
Doctrine: Hope in Grief
Rejected alternatives: મરણ પામેલા
Original: κοιμάομαι (κοιμωμένων, κοιμηθέντας)
Category: Eschatology
New term for this book — anchor euphemism of the Hope in Grief doctrine. Occurs 4:13,14,15 (restated 5:10). Must never be flattened to મરણ પામેલા, which erases the built-in hope of the sleep-metaphor, nor read through Hindu śrāddha rebirth-journey expectation or Jain jīva-migration. Consistency of rendering at every occurrence is itself the doctrinal argument — no stylistic variation permitted.
Parousia
Approved rendering: પુનરાગમન
Transliteration: punarāgaman
Doctrine: The Return of Christ (Parousia)
Rejected alternatives: અવતાર, આગમન (used alone)
Original: παρουσία
Category: Eschatology
New term for this book — the central term of the curriculum’s anchor doctrine. Occurs 2:19; 3:13; 4:15-17; 5:23 (restated 5:10). CRITICAL: NEVER અવતાર. Must be explicitly distinguished from Vaishnav avatar theology’s repeatable divine descents (especially salient given Dwarka’s location within Gujarat) and Jain cosmology’s recurring appearance of a new Tirthankara each cosmic half-cycle. Must render identically at every occurrence in the book without exception.
Caught Up
Approved rendering: ઉપર ખેંચી લેવાશું
Transliteration: upar khenchī levāśũ
Doctrine: The Return of Christ (Parousia)
Rejected alternatives: આરોહણ (used alone, without the escort clause)
Original: ἁρπάζω (ἁρπαγησόμεθα)
Category: Eschatology
New term for this book. Occurs 4:17. Must always appear together with the escort/meeting clause (see meeting_apantesis) as a single continuous action-with-purpose, so it is taught as a temporary reunion en route to accompanying the returning, actively reigning Lord — explicitly not a Jain siddha’s permanent, non-interactive withdrawal to siddha-loka, nor a folk-narrative of an ascetic bodily reward for personal attainment.
Day Of The Lord
Approved rendering: પ્રભુનો દિવસ
Transliteration: Prabhu no Divas
Doctrine: The Day of the Lord
Rejected alternatives: યુગ-પરિવર્તન, દિવસ (abbreviated alone, without પ્રભુનો)
Original: ἡμέρα κυρίου
Category: Eschatology
New term for this book. Occurs 5:2 (theme spans 5:1-11). Must be presented as a single, unrepeatable, historically final day of divine reckoning tied to Christ’s personal return, never assimilated to a recurring yuga-cycle transition, Kalki-avatāra expectation, or the impersonal unfolding of Jain cosmic time-periods (utsarpiṇī/avasarpiṇī). Never abbreviate to દિવસ alone — પ્રભુનો must always remain audible.
Soul
Approved rendering: પ્રાણ
Transliteration: prāṇ
Doctrine: Wholeness of the Believer (Spirit, Soul, Body)
Rejected alternatives: જીવ
Original: ψυχή
Category: Anthropology
New term for this book. Occurs 5:23. CRITICAL: NEVER જીવ — the precise Jain technical term for the eternal soul-substance bound to karma-matter, migrating between bodies until self-attained liberation (કેવલજ્ઞાન/સિદ્ધત્વ, already baseline-forbidden for salvation). પ્રાણ avoids importing this metaphysical framework into a text about the whole redeemed person kept blameless by God’s grace at Christ’s parousia. This departs deliberately from common print-Bible habit; a brief teaching note at 5:23 explaining the reason is recommended.
High Risk Terms
Gospel
Approved rendering: સુવાર્તા
Transliteration: suvārtā
Doctrine: Gospel Proclamation and Reception
Rejected alternatives: ખબર, શુભ સંદેશ
Original: εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. Established Gujarati Christian term (su- ‘good’ + vārtā ‘news’). In 1 Thessalonians (1:5-6; 2:2,4,8-9,13; 3:2) must be read as the single saving proclamation received with power and the Holy Spirit, not one teaching among Gujarat’s many devotional/ascetic paths.
Faith
Approved rendering: વિશ્વાસ
Transliteration: viśvāsa
Doctrine: Faith, Love, and Hope as Christian Identity Markers
Rejected alternatives: શ્રદ્ધા, ભક્તિ
Original: πίστις
Category: Faith
Inherited from Romans package. Personal trust in Christ specifically (4:14: ‘we believe that Jesus died and rose’), not generalized bhakti/shraddhā devotion. Occurs 1:3,8; 3:2,5,6,7,10; 4:14; 5:8.
Election
Approved rendering: પરમેશ્વરની પસંદગી
Transliteration: Parmeśvarnī Pasandagī
Doctrine: Divine Election and Calling
Rejected alternatives: નસીબ, નિયતિ, કર્મ-ફળ
Original: ἐκλογή
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. God’s sovereign personal choice (1:4), not impersonal fate/karma.
Power Of God
Approved rendering: પરમેશ્વરનું સામર્થ્ય
Transliteration: Parmeśvarnũ Sāmarthya
Doctrine: Gospel Proclamation and Reception
Rejected alternatives: શક્તિ
Original: δύναμις
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. Never શક્તિ (Shakti/mother-goddess association, e.g. Ambaji). Occurs 1:5, describing how the gospel came to Thessalonica.
Glory
Approved rendering: મહિમા
Transliteration: mahimā
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: તેજ, પ્રકાશ
Original: δόξα
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. Avoid light-only imagery merging with Hindu divine-light or Jain kevala-jnāna associations. Occurs 2:12, 20.
Called
Approved rendering: તેડાયેલા
Transliteration: tedāyelā
Doctrine: Divine Election and Calling
Rejected alternatives: આમંત્રિત
Original: καλέω (participle/verb forms)
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. Context-sensitive: 2:12 calling into kingdom/glory; 4:7 calling to holiness. God is always the initiating agent, never a self-initiated guru-diksha-seeking pattern.
Calling
Approved rendering: તેડું
Transliteration: teḍũ
Doctrine: Divine Election and Calling
Rejected alternatives: આહ્વાન
Original: κλῆσις
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. Sovereign summons, not human-initiated seeking.
Saints
Approved rendering: પવિત્ર જનો
Transliteration: pavitra jano
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: સંતો, મુનિ
Original: ἅγιοι
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans package. Never સંતો or મુનિ (ascetic elite in Gujarati usage). Occurs 3:13: ‘with all his saints.‘
Sanctification
Approved rendering: પવિત્રીકરણ
Transliteration: pavitrikaraṇ
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: શુદ્ધિકરણ, તપ દ્વારા શુદ્ધિ
Original: ἁγιασμός
Category: Sanctification
Inherited from Romans package. Never તપ-family vocabulary (Jain ascetic self-purification) or vrata-based framing. Occurs 4:3,4,7 — the explicit will of God, grounded in the Holy Spirit (4:8), not self-effort.
Holy
Approved rendering: પવિત્ર
Transliteration: pavitra
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: શુદ્ધ
Original: ἅγιος
Category: Sanctification
Inherited from Romans package. Moral/relational set-apartness, not ritual purity. Root of 3:13, 4:3-7 vocabulary; also 5:26 ‘holy kiss.‘
Hope
Approved rendering: આશા
Transliteration: āśā
Doctrine: Hope in Grief / Faith, Love, and Hope as Christian Identity Markers
Original: ἐλπίς
Category: Faith
New term for this book. Occurs 1:3; 4:13; 5:8. Everyday Gujarati usage can mean a mere wish; here must carry the technical sense of certain expectation grounded in Christ’s historical resurrection (4:14), not vague optimism or resignation to a karmic cycle. Must always appear textually anchored to its grounding clause, especially at 4:13-14; never left standing alone as abstract comfort.
Love Agape
Approved rendering: પ્રેમ
Transliteration: prem
Doctrine: Faith, Love, and Hope as Christian Identity Markers
Original: ἀγάπη
Category: Faith
New term for this book. Occurs 1:3; 3:6,12; 5:8,13. Standard Gujarati term, but risks conflation with Vaishnav bhakti’s romantic-devotional પ્રેમ (Krishna-devotion, Pushti Mārg tradition tied to nearby Dwarka); must be anchored to concrete, costly, other-directed action within the believing community, not devotional emotion toward a chosen deity.
Wrath
Approved rendering: કોપ
Transliteration: kop
Doctrine: The Wrath of God
Rejected alternatives: ક્રોધ
Original: ὀργή
Category: God
New term for this book. Occurs 1:10; 5:3,9. Never ક્રોધ (impulsive/generic anger). Must always appear with explicit reference to God as the acting subject, never as an automatic, impersonal karma-phala outcome with no personal judge.
Idols
Approved rendering: મૂર્તિઓ
Transliteration: mūrtio
Doctrine: Turning from Idols to the Living and True God
Original: εἴδωλα
Category: Sin
New term for this book. Occurs 1:9. Extremely salient given widespread Hindu murti-pūjā and Jain derasar Tirthankara-image veneration in Gujarat; the verse’s decisive, total turning away from all image-based devotion must never be softened into a mere preference among devotional objects.
Living And True God
Approved rendering: જીવતા અને સાચા પરમેશ્વર

Vessel
Approved rendering: પાત્ર
Transliteration: pātra
Doctrine: Sexual Purity as Sanctification’s Content
Original: σκεῦος
Category: Sanctification
New term for this book. Occurs 4:4. Deliberately preserves the same referential ambiguity (body vs. wife) as the Greek σκεῦος; whichever referent a translator resolves toward carries meaningfully different pastoral application and must be flagged for mandatory theologian review at point of use — do not silently disambiguate.
Trumpet Of God
Approved rendering: પરમેશ્વરનું રણશિંગડું
Transliteration: Parmeśvarnũ raṇśiṅgḍũ
Doctrine: The Return of Christ (Parousia)
Rejected alternatives: શંખ
Original: σάλπιγξ θεοῦ
Category: Eschatology
New term for this book. Occurs 4:16. NEVER શંખ (conch shell) — the instrument of Hindu temple ritual and, regionally, of Krishna’s Panchajanya conch associated with nearby Dwarka. રણશિંગડું keeps the register military-triumphal, not temple-ritual.
Medium Risk Terms
Peace
Approved rendering: શાંતિ
Transliteration: śānti
Doctrine: Peace with God
Rejected alternatives: મનની શાંતિ
Original: εἰρήνη
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. Relational peace with God, not inner tranquility via ahimsa-based discipline. NOTE: at 1 Thessalonians 5:3 (‘peace and safety’) the same word is placed ironically in the mouths of the complacent immediately before sudden destruction — this is the one occurrence in the book where શાંતિ is used as a false watchword, not a doctrinal blessing; flag for translator/teaching note.
Church
Approved rendering: મંડળી
Transliteration: maṇḍaḷī
Doctrine: Church as God’s People

Category: Eschatology
New term for this book. Occurs 4:17. Preserves the Hellenistic technical sense of a delegation going out to formally welcome an arriving king and escort him back in; a bare ‘meet’ loses this royal-welcome/escort nuance and risks a static, terminal image.

Transliteration: saṅkaṭ
Doctrine: Affliction and Perseverance in the Faith
Original: θλῖψις

Rejected alternatives: તપ દ્વારા શુદ્ધિ
Original: ἁγιωσύνη
Category: Sanctification
New term for this book. Occurs 3:13. The state/quality-noun (ἁγιωσύνη), distinct from the process-noun પવિત્રીકરણ (ἁγιασμός); the state/process distinction must be preserved across both terms for doctrinal precision, and neither may be glossed with તપ-family (ascetic austerity) vocabulary.

Transliteration: nirdoṣ
Doctrine: Sanctification
Original: ἄμεμπτος

Transliteration: olavavũ
Doctrine: Quenching the Spirit and Church Order
Original: σβέννυμι

Transliteration: ātmā
Doctrine: Wholeness of the Believer (Spirit, Soul, Body)
