Doctrine Analysis
Doctrine Analysis — 1 Peter 1–5
Full-Book Doctrine Matrix | English → Assamese
This document extends the Romans-baseline doctrine analysis pattern to the 1 Peter curriculum. It is fully consistent with assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json (same doctrine keys, same risk tiers, same review routing) and with analysis/08_core_glossary.md. Coverage spans every chapter of 1 Peter, 1:1 through 5:14, per the PRD full-book-coverage mandate. The core passage, 1 Peter 1:3–9 (The Living Hope of the Resurrection), is the theological anchor of the curriculum but is not treated as the scope boundary — all five chapters are analyzed below.
Risk tier definitions, review routing conventions, and the Critical/High/Medium/Low framework follow the Romans baseline doctrine_risk_registry.json exactly.
Chapter 1 (1 Peter 1:1–25)
| Passage | Doctrine (registry key) | Key Terms/Phrases | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1:1 | Christian Identity as Sojourners (christian_identity_as_sojourners) | “elect exiles,” “sojourners” | Medium | প্ৰবাসী আৰু বিদেশী — a theological identity metaphor, not a comment on literal migrant/citizenship status; sensitive given Assam’s internal-migration/citizenship-politics context. | Native speaker review |
| 1:1–2 | Divine Foreknowledge and Election (divine_foreknowledge_and_election) | “elect,” “foreknowledge of God the Father,” “sanctification of the Spirit” | High | ঈশ্বৰৰ পূৰ্বজ্ঞান — personal, relational foreknowledge, never astrological calculation (গণনা) or karma/fate (ভাগ্য, কপাল). | Human theologian |
| 1:3 | The Living Hope of the Resurrection (living_hope_of_the_resurrection) — CORE PASSAGE begins | ”living hope,” “resurrection” | Critical | জীৱন্ত আশা must be explicitly tied to পুনৰুত্থান; never vague optimism. পুনৰুত্থান never পুনৰ্জন্ম. | Human theologian |
| 1:3 | New Birth and Regeneration (new_birth_and_regeneration) | “born again” | Critical | The single greatest lexical trap in the book. NEVER পুনৰ্জন্ম (reincarnation). Mandatory distinguishing note at first occurrence. | Human theologian |
| 1:4–5 | Living Hope / Inheritance and Future Glory (living_hope_of_the_resurrection, inheritance_and_future_glory) | “inheritance… imperishable, undefiled, unfading,” “kept by the power of God” | Critical / High | অক্ষয়/অম্লান/নিৰ্মল each carry residual Vedantic-category or ritual-purity collision risk; পৰিত্ৰাণ (salvation) at 1:5 is Critical per baseline. | Human theologian |
| 1:6–7 | Faith Tested and Proven / Suffering for Righteousness’ Sake (faith_tested_and_proven, suffering_for_righteousness_sake) | “trials,” “tested genuineness of your faith” | High / Critical | পৰীক্ষা must not read as karmic testing (consequence of past-life action); trial reveals, does not create, genuine বিশ্বাস. | Human theologian |
| 1:8–9 | Faith Tested and Proven / Living Hope (faith_tested_and_proven, living_hope_of_the_resurrection) — CORE PASSAGE ends | ”believe… love… salvation of your souls” | Critical | প্ৰাণৰ পৰিত্ৰাণ inherits Salvation’s Critical tier; ψυχή is the whole inner person, not a disembodied ātman awaiting mokṣa. | Human theologian |
| 1:10–12 | Gospel Proclamation (gospel_proclamation) | “prophets… searched and inquired,” “good news announced,” “angels long to look” | High | সুসমাচাৰ distinguished from ordinary good news or naam-proclamation; tied to fulfillment-of-prophecy background from the Romans baseline. | Human theologian |
| 1:13–16 | Holiness in Conduct (holiness_in_conduct) | “be holy,” “sober-minded,” “conduct” | High | আচাৰ-ব্যৱহাৰ risks being heard as prescribed ritual custom rather than whole-life moral transformation flowing from new birth. | Human theologian |
| 1:17–21 | Christ’s Substitutionary Suffering / Divine Foreknowledge (christs_substitutionary_suffering, divine_foreknowledge_and_election) | “ransomed,” “precious blood,” “lamb without blemish,” “foreknown before the foundation of the world” | Critical | Highest-density Critical cluster in ch.1. মূল্যবান তেজ and নিৰ্দোষ আৰু নিষ্কলঙ্ক মেষ পোৱালি both carry Shakta blood-sacrifice (Kamakhya) collision risk; mandatory once-for-all note. | Human theologian |
| 1:22 | Love and Mutual Care (love_and_mutual_care_in_the_church) | “sincere brotherly love” | Low | Standard ethical vocabulary; low risk. | Automated review |
| 1:23–25 | New Birth and Regeneration (new_birth_and_regeneration) | “born again… imperishable seed,” “living and abiding word of God” | Critical | Same পুনৰ্জন্ম-avoidance mandate as 1:3; অক্ষয় বীজ carries the same Vedantic-category caution as 1:4. | Human theologian |
Chapter 1 coverage note: Every verse of chapter 1 is accounted for above; no section silently omitted.
Chapter 2 (1 Peter 2:1–25)
| Passage | Doctrine (registry key) | Key Terms/Phrases | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2:1–3 | Holiness in Conduct (holiness_in_conduct) | “put away… malice,” “pure spiritual milk” | High | Distinguish Spirit-formed ethical renewal from ritual dietary/purity codes. | Human theologian |
| 2:4–10 | The Church as a Holy and Royal Priesthood (church_as_holy_and_royal_priesthood) | “living stone,” “cornerstone,” “royal priesthood,” “holy nation,” “people for his own possession,” “spiritual house,” “spiritual sacrifices” | Critical | The single most concentrated ecclesiological syncretism risk in the book: Shaligram stone-veneration (living stone), Brahmin পুৰোহিত priest-caste (royal priesthood), জাতি’s caste connotation (avoided via পবিত্ৰ প্ৰজা), and বলিদান’s blood-sacrifice association (spiritual sacrifices). Directly challenges caste-based spiritual hierarchy; must not be softened. | Human theologian |
| 2:11–12 | Christian Identity as Sojourners / Holiness in Conduct (christian_identity_as_sojourners, holiness_in_conduct) | “sojourners and exiles,” “abstain from the passions of the flesh,” “conduct… among the Gentiles” | Medium / High | See 1:1 note; abstention must not be flattened into merit-earning ascetic renunciation (tapasya/vairāgya). | Native speaker / Human theologian |
| 2:13–17 | Submission to Authority and Christlike Endurance (submission_to_authority_and_christlike_endurance) | “be subject… to every human institution,” “honor the emperor” | High | স্বাধীনতা never conflated with মুক্তি/মোক্ষ; “honor the king” carries added sensitivity given Assam’s Ahom-kingdom sovereignty history. | Human theologian |
| 2:18–20 | Submission to Authority / Grace Amid Suffering (submission_to_authority_and_christlike_endurance, grace_amid_suffering) | “servants, be subject,” “this is a gracious thing” | High | Gospel-motivated, voluntary submission modeled on Christ, not fatalistic resignation to দৈব/ভাগ্য. | Human theologian |
| 2:21–25 | Christ’s Substitutionary Suffering (christs_substitutionary_suffering) | “suffered for you,” “bore our sins in his body,” “by his wounds you have been healed,” “Shepherd and Overseer of your souls” | Critical | ὑπέρ must convey substitution/benefit, not mere accompaniment; “bore our sins” must not be read as karma-transfer to a guru/deity; healing is primarily from sin’s guilt/power, not a general physical-healing/prosperity promise. | Human theologian |
Chapter 2 coverage note: Every verse of chapter 2 is accounted for above; no section silently omitted.
Chapter 3 (1 Peter 3:1–22)
| Passage | Doctrine (registry key) | Key Terms/Phrases | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3:1–6 | Submission to Authority and Christlike Endurance (submission_to_authority_and_christlike_endurance) | “wives, be subject,” “do not fear anything that is frightening” | High | Voluntary, faith-grounded submission, not caste/gender fatalism. | Human theologian |
| 3:7 | Submission to Authority and Christlike Endurance (submission_to_authority_and_christlike_endurance) | “weaker vessel,” “joint heirs of… grace” | High | দুৰ্বল পাত্ৰ immediately qualified by co-equal heirship; no implication of spiritual/moral inferiority. | Human theologian |
| 3:8–12 | Love and Mutual Care (love_and_mutual_care_in_the_church) | “unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love” | Low | Standard ethical vocabulary; low risk. | Automated review |
| 3:13–17 | Suffering for Righteousness’ Sake / Lordship of Christ (suffering_for_righteousness_sake, lordship_of_christ) | “suffer for righteousness’ sake,” “sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts” | Critical | ধাৰ্মিকতাৰ কাৰণে কষ্ট direct parallel to Romans 10:9’s fixed Lordship confession; must not be read as karmic consequence of past action. | Human theologian |
| 3:18 | Christ’s Substitutionary Suffering / Christ’s Proclamation to the Spirits (christs_substitutionary_suffering, christs_proclamation_to_the_spirits) | “Christ suffered once for sins,” “put to death in the flesh… made alive in the spirit” | Critical | ἅπαξ distinguishes biblical atonement from cyclical ritual sacrifice and repeatable avatar-descent. The flesh/spirit clause is interpretively contested; do not foreclose either major reading. | Human theologian |
| 3:19–20 | Christ’s Proclamation to the Spirits (christs_proclamation_to_the_spirits) | “proclaimed to the spirits in prison,” “did not obey… in the days of Noah,” “ark” | Critical | Doctrinally sensitive independent of syncretism risk (contested among theologians). Must not be read as ancestor-spirits requiring propitiation (folk-animist/tribal ancestor veneration). Requires Genesis 6–9 background note. | Human theologian |
| 3:21 | Christ’s Proclamation to the Spirits / Living Hope (christs_proclamation_to_the_spirits, living_hope_of_the_resurrection) | “baptism… corresponds to this,” “appeal to God for a good conscience,” “resurrection of Jesus Christ” | Critical | বাপ্তিস্ম’s qualifying clause must be preserved to avoid a ritual-washing reading (cf. sacred river bathing); পৰিত্ৰাণ and পুনৰুত্থান both Critical per baseline. | Human theologian |
| 3:22 | Christ’s Proclamation to the Spirits / Lordship of Christ (christs_proclamation_to_the_spirits, lordship_of_christ) | “angels, authorities, and powers subjected to him” | Critical / High | Must convey Christ’s unique cosmic supremacy, not one strong being among a devas/asuras hierarchy. | Human theologian |
Chapter 3 coverage note: Every verse of chapter 3 is accounted for above; no section silently omitted.
Chapter 4 (1 Peter 4:1–19)
| Passage | Doctrine (registry key) | Key Terms/Phrases | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4:1–3 | Holiness in Conduct (holiness_in_conduct) | “live… no longer for human passions,” “sensuality… lawless idolatry” | High | Spirit-empowered holiness, not ascetic merit-earning self-denial. | Human theologian |
| 4:4–6 | Gospel Proclamation / Final Judgment and Accountability (gospel_proclamation, final_judgment_and_accountability) | “gospel was preached even to the dead,” “judge the living and the dead” | High | Exegetically contested clause; preserve ambiguity rather than resolving unilaterally. জীৱা আৰু মৰা সকলৰ বিচাৰ is personal judgment, not impersonal karma-phala retribution. | Human theologian |
| 4:7–9 | Love and Mutual Care (love_and_mutual_care_in_the_church) | “love one another earnestly,” “love covers a multitude of sins,” “hospitality” | Low | ”Love covers sins” must not be read as a rival atonement mechanism competing with 2:24/3:18’s substitutionary work. | Automated review |
| 4:10–11 | Spiritual Gifts and Stewardship (spiritual_gifts_and_stewardship) | “gift,” “stewards of God’s varied grace” | Medium | Spirit-given enablement administered as grace-stewardship, not a merit-earned বৰ granted for austerity/devotion. | Native speaker review |
| 4:12–19 | Suffering for Righteousness’ Sake / Final Judgment and Accountability / Grace Amid Suffering (suffering_for_righteousness_sake, final_judgment_and_accountability, grace_amid_suffering) | “fiery trial,” “share Christ’s sufferings,” “judgment begins with the household of God,” “faithful Creator” | Critical / High | AVOID unqualified অগ্নি পৰীক্ষা (imports Sita’s fire-ordeal narrative from the Ramayana). Suffering is participation in Christ’s own pattern, not karmic consequence. | Human theologian |
Chapter 4 coverage note: Every verse of chapter 4 is accounted for above; no section silently omitted.
Chapter 5 (1 Peter 5:1–14)
| Passage | Doctrine (registry key) | Key Terms/Phrases | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5:1–4 | Elders and Humility (elders_and_humility) | “elders,” “shepherd the flock,” “chief Shepherd,” “crown of glory” | High | মণ্ডলীৰ পৰিচালক must be kept distinct from the hereditary Satradhikar (Satra head) succession; Christ-appointed, accountable, non-hereditary office under the unique প্ৰধান ৰখীয়া. | Human theologian |
| 5:5–7 | Elders and Humility / Grace Amid Suffering (elders_and_humility, grace_amid_suffering) | “clothe yourselves with humility,” “God’s mighty hand,” “casting all your anxieties” | High | নম্ৰতা পিন্ধা distinguished from merit-earning ascetic self-abasement recognizable in Satra bhakat renunciation and broader tapasya traditions. | Human theologian |
| 5:8–9 | Spiritual Warfare and Resisting the Devil / Faith Tested and Proven (spiritual_warfare_and_resisting_the_devil, faith_tested_and_proven) | “adversary the devil,” “resist him, firm in your faith” | High | শয়তান is a single, personal, defeated-yet-active being, not assimilated into a populated devas/asuras/rakshasas demonology. | Human theologian |
| 5:10–11 | Grace Amid Suffering / Inheritance and Future Glory (grace_amid_suffering, inheritance_and_future_glory) | “God of all grace,” “restore, confirm, strengthen, establish” | High | সকলো অনুগ্ৰহৰ ঈশ্বৰ requires strict glossary-priority enforcement given term density. | Human theologian |
| 5:12–14 | Grace Amid Suffering / Love and Mutual Care (grace_amid_suffering, love_and_mutual_care_in_the_church) | “true grace of God,” “kiss of love,” “peace” | High / Low | ঈশ্বৰৰ সঁচা অনুগ্ৰহ preserves implicit contrast with any counterfeit or works-based alternative. | Human theologian / Automated review |
Chapter 5 coverage note: Every verse of chapter 5 is accounted for above; no section silently omitted.

Full-Book Coverage Confirmation
All five chapters of 1 Peter (1:1–5:14) have been reviewed section by section above. No chapter or verse range contributes silently — every passage is mapped to at least one doctrine entry, and passages carrying no elevated doctrinal risk (e.g., 1:22, 3:8–12, 4:7–9, portions of 5:12–14) are explicitly logged as Low-risk / automated-review items rather than omitted. The core passage, 1 Peter 1:3–9, anchors the curriculum’s theological center of gravity but does not bound the scope of this analysis.

Critical Risk Doctrines
The Living Hope of the Resurrection
Assamese name: পুনৰুত্থানৰ জীৱন্ত আশা
Key terms: living hope, resurrection, born again, inheritance, imperishable
Review routing: Human theologian
The letter’s opening doctrinal anchor. জীৱন্ত আশা must be tied explicitly to পুনৰুত্থান, never to a vague spiritual optimism; পুনৰুত্থান itself must never be rendered পুনৰ্জন্ম (reincarnation within সংসাৰ). Compounding this, 1:4’s অক্ষয় (imperishable) risks importing the Vedantic akṣara-Brahman/ātman category into the believer’s inheritance. All three terms converging in one passage make this the single highest-density Critical risk cluster in the book.
New Birth and Regeneration
Assamese name: নতুন জন্ম আৰু পুনৰুৎপত্তি
Key terms: born again, imperishable seed, living and abiding word of God
Review routing: Human theologian
The single greatest lexical trap in the book: the surface parallel between ‘born again’ and ‘reborn’ must not let an Assamese Hindu/Ekasarana-background reader hear ἀναγεννάω as one more turn of the rebirth cycle. NEVER পুনৰ্জন্ম. A mandatory distinguishing note is required at every first occurrence, parity with the resurrection doctrine’s protection.
Suffering for Righteousness’ Sake
Assamese name: ধাৰ্মিকতাৰ কাৰণে দুখ-কষ্ট ভোগ
Key terms: suffer for righteousness’ sake, fiery trial, share in Christ’s sufferings, trials
Review routing: Human theologian
Compounds two risks: (1) ধাৰ্মিকতা must never become ধৰ্ম, and suffering ‘for’ it must not be read as karmic consequence of past action; (2) 4:12’s fiery trial, if rendered as the unqualified literal calque অগ্নি পৰীক্ষা, imports the specific Ramayana narrative of Sita’s chastity-proving ordeal — a completely different logic from God refining genuine faith toward future glory. Both risks require mandatory translator notes at every occurrence.
Christ’s Substitutionary Suffering
Assamese name: খ্ৰীষ্টৰ প্ৰতিস্থাপনমূলক দুখ-কষ্ট
Key terms: precious blood, lamb without blemish, ransomed, suffered for you, bore our sins, by his wounds healed, Christ suffered once
Review routing: Human theologian
The doctrinal core of the letter’s atonement teaching, and its highest-density Critical-risk cluster. Blood/lamb imagery risks collision with Assam’s Shakta animal-sacrifice tradition (Kamakhya) reading Christ’s blood as a repeated propitiatory offering rather than a once-for-all (ἅπαξ) sacrifice; ‘ransomed’ risks collision with মুক্তি-root liberation-from-সংসাৰ vocabulary; ‘bore our sins’ risks a karma-transfer misreading. Every occurrence requires the ὑπέρ substitutionary sense and the ἅπαξ once-for-all sense to be preserved without exception.
The Church as a Holy and Royal Priesthood
Assamese name: পবিত্ৰ আৰু ৰাজকীয় পুৰোহিত সমাজ স্বৰূপে মণ্ডলী
Key terms: living stone, cornerstone, royal priesthood, holy nation, people for his own possession, spiritual house, spiritual sacrifices
Review routing: Human theologian
The single most concentrated ecclesiological syncretism risk in the book, colliding with three distinct live Assamese institutions: (1) Shaligram stone-veneration in Vaishnavite practice (living stone); (2) the hereditary Brahmin পুৰোহিত priest-caste (royal priesthood); (3) জাতি’s inescapable caste connotation (holy নেশন — avoided via পবিত্ৰ প্ৰজা). This passage directly challenges caste-based spiritual hierarchy still socially operative in Assam and must not be softened by any rendering that reintroduces caste-coded vocabulary.
Christ’s Proclamation to the Spirits
Assamese name: বন্দী আত্মাবিলাকৰ ওচৰত খ্ৰীষ্টৰ প্ৰচাৰ
Key terms: put to death in flesh, made alive in spirit, proclaimed to spirits, spirits in prison, ark, antitype, baptism, angels, authorities, powers, judge the living and the dead
Review routing: Human theologian
This passage is doctrinally sensitive independent of syncretism risk (interpretively contested even among theologians) and additionally carries specific Assamese collision points: ‘spirits in prison’ must not be read as ancestor-spirits requiring propitiation (folk-animist/tribal ancestor veneration); baptism’s saving significance must not be read as ritual water-purification (sacred river bathing); and the subjected angels/authorities/powers must convey Christ’s unique supremacy, not one strong being among a devas/asuras cosmic hierarchy. Interpretive ambiguity (3:18’s ‘in the spirit,’ 4:6’s ‘gospel to the dead’) must be preserved, not resolved unilaterally by translation choice.
Lordship of Christ
Assamese name: খ্ৰীষ্টৰ প্ৰভুত্ব
Key terms: Lord, sanctify Christ as Lord, angels, authorities, powers
Review routing: Human theologian
1 Peter 3:15’s internal ‘sanctify Christ as Lord’ directly parallels the fixed Romans 10:9 confession and must convey the same exclusive, supreme Lordship, not one venerated figure among the many deities and gurus addressed with honorific titles in Assamese devotional speech; 3:22 extends this to cosmic supremacy over every angelic and spiritual power.
High Risk Doctrines
Divine Foreknowledge and Election
Assamese name: ঈশ্বৰৰ পূৰ্বজ্ঞান আৰু মনোনয়ন
Key terms: foreknowledge, elect exiles, chosen race
Review routing: Human theologian
God’s personal foreknowledge and choice, applied both to believers (1:1-2) and to Christ himself (1:20), must be distinguished from astrological foreknowledge (গণনা) and from karma-determined or fate-driven destiny (ভাগ্য/কপাল) — a distinction the Romans baseline already establishes but which this letter’s opening verse makes immediately load-bearing.
Grace Amid Suffering
Assamese name: কষ্টৰ মাझত অনুগ্ৰহ
Key terms: grace, true grace of God, God of all grace, stewards of grace
Review routing: Human theologian
1 Peter uses অনুগ্ৰহ with unusual density, applying it even to commendable suffering (2:19-20) and gift-stewardship (4:10). Every occurrence must preserve the contrast with merit or devotion performed (বৰ, the boon-for-devotion framework), especially where grace undergirds a call to endure unjust suffering rather than escape it.
Faith Tested and Proven
Assamese name: পৰীক্ষিত আৰু প্ৰমাণিত বিশ্বাস
Key terms: faith, tested genuineness of faith, trials, resist firm in faith
Review routing: Human theologian
Trials reveal and refine বিশ্বাস’s genuineness; they do not create or earn it. পৰীক্ষা must not be read as karmic testing (consequence of past-life action) or an academic pass/fail test of merit, and the trust named বিশ্বাস must always terminate on the unseen, resurrected Christ (1:8), never on bhakti-devotion toward a chosen deity.
Inheritance and Future Glory
Assamese name: উত্তৰাধিকাৰ আৰু ভাবী মহিমা
Key terms: inheritance, imperishable, unfading, crown of glory, glory
Review routing: Human theologian
The secured future inheritance, kept in heaven, must be tied to adoption into God’s family, not to a generic spiritual reward. অক্ষয় and অম্লান both carry residual risk of collision with Vedantic imperishability categories (akṣara) and South Asian immortality-flower symbolism respectively; the crown of glory is an athlete’s wreath, not an earthly crown or a moksha-attainment symbol.
Submission to Authority and Christlike Endurance
Assamese name: কৰ্তৃত্বৰ প্ৰতি অধীনতা আৰু খ্ৰীষ্টৰ নিচিনা সহনশীলতা
Key terms: submission, honor the king, freedom, weaker vessel
Review routing: Human theologian
Free, gospel-motivated অধীনতা modeled on Christ’s own voluntary submission to unjust suffering (2:21-23) must be distinguished from fatalistic resignation to দৈব/ভাগ্য (fate/destiny), a common folk-Hindu explanatory frame for enduring hardship. স্বাধীনতা (freedom) must never be conflated with মুক্তি/মোক্ষ. ‘Honor the king’ carries added sensitivity given Assam’s Ahom-kingdom sovereignty history.
Holiness in Conduct
Assamese name: আচাৰ-ব্যৱহাৰত পবিত্ৰতা
Key terms: holy, conduct/way of life, purified souls, pure spiritual milk, abstain from passions of the flesh
Review routing: Human theologian
আচাৰ-ব্যৱহাৰ (conduct) risks being heard as prescribed ritual custom/rite (আচাৰ-অনুষ্ঠান) in Assamese Hindu usage rather than the whole moral pattern flowing from new birth. Likewise, abstaining from fleshly passions must not be flattened into ascetic renunciation (tapasya/vairāgya) practiced for merit; this is Spirit-empowered holiness, not merit-earning self-denial.
Elders and Humility
Assamese name: মণ্ডলীৰ পৰিচালক আৰু নম্ৰতা
Key terms: elders, chief Shepherd, clothe yourselves with humility, crown of glory
Review routing: Human theologian
মণ্ডলীৰ পৰিচালক must be kept distinct from the hereditary Satradhikar (Satra head) and from caste/Panchayat-elder seniority; this is a Christ-appointed, accountable, non-hereditary pastoral office under the unique প্ৰধান ৰখীয়া (chief Shepherd). নম্ৰতা পিন্ধা must be distinguished from merit-earning ascetic self-abasement recognizable in Satra bhakat renunciation and broader tapasya traditions.
Spiritual Warfare and Resisting the Devil
Assamese name: আত্মিক যুদ্ধ আৰু শয়তানৰ প্ৰতিৰোধ
Key terms: adversary the devil, resist, firm in faith
Review routing: Human theologian
The single, personal, defeated-yet-still-active adversary শয়তান must not be assimilated into a populated cosmic hierarchy of demons/asuras/rakshasas prominent in Puranic and folk-Assamese demonology; resistance is grounded in বিশ্বাস in Christ, not ritual protection or apotropaic practice.
Final Judgment and Accountability
Assamese name: শেষ বিচাৰ আৰু দায়বদ্ধতা
Key terms: judge the living and the dead, judgment begins with the household of God
Review routing: Human theologian
Christ’s personal, moral, final judgment must be clearly distinguished from impersonal automatic karma-phala retribution ripening across lifetimes without a personal Judge — a distinction especially urgent given how deeply the karma-retribution framework structures folk-Hindu explanations of moral consequence in Assam.
Gospel Proclamation
Assamese name: সুসমাচাৰ প্ৰচাৰ
Key terms: gospel, gospel preached to the dead, mission
Review routing: Human theologian
সুসমাচাৰ must be distinguished from ordinary good news or Ekasarana Dharma naam-proclamation. 4:6’s contested ‘gospel preached to the dead’ requires the ambiguity to be preserved with a theologian-review flag rather than the Assamese phrasing presuming a single interpretation.
Medium Risk Doctrines
Spiritual Gifts and Stewardship
Assamese name: আত্মিক বৰ আৰু ভাণ্ডাৰীপনা
Key terms: spiritual gifts, stewards of grace
Review routing: Native speaker review
Spirit-given enablements administered as grace-stewardship, not merit-earned boons (বৰ alone) granted for austerity or devotion; the pairing with আত্মিক and ভাণ্ডাৰী anchors this correctly.
Christian Identity as Sojourners and Exiles
Assamese name: প্ৰবাসী আৰু বিদেশী স্বৰূপে খ্ৰীষ্টীয় পৰিচয়
Key terms: elect exiles, sojourners and exiles
Review routing: Native speaker review
A theological identity metaphor describing present temporary status en route to the promised inheritance; must not be read as a comment on any believer’s actual civic, migrant, or citizenship status, a sensitive subject given Assam’s own internal-migration and citizenship-politics context.
Low Risk Doctrines
Love and Mutual Care in the Church
Assamese name: মণ্ডলীত প্ৰেম আৰু পাৰস্পৰিক যত্ন
Key terms: brotherly love, love covers sins, hospitality
Review routing: Automated review
Standard ethical vocabulary with low syncretism risk; only caution is that ‘love covers sins’ (4:8) must not be read as a rival atonement mechanism competing with Christ’s substitutionary work (2:24, 3:18).
