Core Glossary
Core Glossary: 2 Timothy (English → Assamese)
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing theological term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, spanning all four chapters of 2 Timothy. Terms marked [BASELINE] are reused exactly from the Romans Language Package (translation_memory.json / bible_term_registry.json) and must not be altered. Terms marked [NEW] are proposed additions for this curriculum, pending the same theologian-review workflow described in the baseline’s 12_ai_translation_requirements.md before being written into an updated translation_memory.json in Phase 2.
Risk tiers follow doctrine_risk_registry.json definitions exactly: Critical (theologian review, every occurrence) > High (theologian review) > Medium (native speaker review) > Low (automated review).

Critical Risk Terms
Righteousness
Approved rendering: ধাৰ্মিকতা
Transliteration: dharmikôta
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: ধৰ্ম, পুণ্য, ন্যায়
Original: δικαιοσύνη
Category: Salvation
CRITICAL: Never ধৰ্ম. Root of Scripture’s training goal (3:16) and of the eschatological ‘crown of righteousness’ (4:8); must consistently name right standing/conduct before God, not caste-duty or sectarian identity. Inherited from Romans package.
Salvation
Approved rendering: পৰিত্ৰাণ
Transliteration: poritran
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: মুক্তি, মোক্ষ, নিস্তাৰ
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation
CRITICAL: NEVER মুক্তি or মোক্ষ. 2 Timothy 3:15 ties salvation to Scripture and ‘faith in Christ Jesus’ since childhood; 1:9-10 ties it to God’s own purpose and grace. নিস্তাৰ remains licensed only for situational/physical deliverance (cf. 4:17-18). Inherited from Romans package.
Resurrection
Approved rendering: পুনৰুত্থান
Transliteration: punoruththan
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ
Rejected alternatives: পুনৰ্জন্ম, পুনৰ্জীৱন
Original: ἀνάστασις / ἐγηγερμένον
Category: Christology
CRITICAL: NEVER পুনৰ্জন্ম. Used at 2:8 (Christ raised) and 2:18, where false teachers claim the resurrection ‘has already happened’ — this false claim must be marked unmistakably as reported speech, never allowed to read as endorsed doctrine. Inherited from Romans package.
Lord
Approved rendering: প্ৰভু
Transliteration: prôbhu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: স্বামী, ঈশ্বৰ
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology

Transliteration: Yisu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ঈছা

Doctrine: Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture
Rejected alternatives: ঈশ্বৰীয় (bare adjective, ‘divine/godly’)
Original: θεόπνευστος

Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Rejected alternatives: পুৰাণ, পুৰাণিক
Original: μῦθος

Original: μόρφωσις εὐσεβείας

Transliteration: prôkax
Doctrine: Christ’s Appearing (Epiphaneia)
Rejected alternatives: অৱতাৰ-adjacent vocabulary of periodic divine descent
Original: ἐπιφάνεια
Category: Eschatology
CRITICAL: Names exactly two fixed, non-repeating historical/eschatological events (1:10 first coming; 4:1, 4:8 future return) — never a repeatable avatar-descent cycle. Mandatory note at every occurrence, cross-referencing baseline’s দেহধাৰণ/অৱতাৰ caution.

Transliteration: poritranôkôrta
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: any মুক্তি/মোক্ষ-related agent-noun

Original: εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation
Established Assamese Bible Society (ABS) term, shared with the Bengali-Assamese Christian tradition. ভাল খবৰ (literal ‘good news’) is colloquial and lacks the technical weight of a proclaimed, unique message. Used in 2 Timothy 1:8-11; 2:8; 4:5. Inherited from Romans package.

Transliteration: anugrôh
Doctrine: Grace

Unmerited favor apart from human merit. বৰ (boon) carries a Puranic register of a deity granting a wish in exchange for austerity or devotion — exactly the merit-transaction 2 Timothy 1:9 (‘not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace’) and 2:1 reject. Inherited from Romans package.

Original: γραφή / ἱερὰ γράμματα
Category: Scripture
শাস্ত্ৰ alone is the ordinary Assamese word for any sacred text, including the Assamese Bhagavata venerated in Namghar worship. Always pair with পবিত্ৰ; mandatory translator note at first occurrence in every document (3:14-17; 3:16) distinguishing God-breathed canonical authority from devotional-textual authority.
Complete Proficient
Approved rendering: সম্পূৰ্ণ / উপযুক্ত
Transliteration: sômpurnô / upôyuktô
Doctrine: Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture
