Core Glossary
Core Glossary — Ephesians (English → Assamese)
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing theological term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, covering the entire book of Ephesians, chapters 1–6. Terms are grouped into (A) terms reused exactly from the Romans baseline Language Package, and (B) new terms specific to the Ephesians curriculum, organized by the nine core curriculum doctrines. All Critical and High risk new terms require human theologian review before Phase 2 translation; Medium risk terms require native speaker review; Low risk terms require automated review only, per the risk-tier conventions established in the baseline doctrine_risk_registry.json.
Section A — Reused Baseline Terms (Romans TM) Occurring in Ephesians

| submit | ὑποτάσσω | বশ্যতা স্বীকাৰ কৰা | bôxyôta swikar kôra | High | Distinguish from Hindu pativratā-dharma (wife’s unconditional religious-duty submission); biblical submission is mutual (5:21), Christ-bounded (5:25), non-meritorious. |

| Risk Tier | Count (approx.) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|
| Critical | 11 | Human theologian (mandatory, per baseline routing) |
| High | 30 | Human theologian |
| Medium | 27 | Native speaker review |
| Low / Low-Medium | 14 | Automated / native-speaker spot check |
Highest-priority theologian-review items for Phase 2: mystery (ৰহস্য), works (কৰ্ম), redemption (উদ্ধাৰ), the Eph 6:12 spiritual-powers cluster, made-alive-with-Christ (2:5), gift of God (দান), and the household-code submission/master vocabulary — each carries a documented, specific Assamese religious-culture collision risk requiring explicit translator notes at every occurrence, not merely correct lexical choice.
Critical Risk Terms
Righteousness
Approved rendering: ধাৰ্মিকতা
Transliteration: dharmikôta
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: ধৰ্ম, পুণ্য, ন্যায়
Inherited from Romans package. CRITICAL: never ধৰ্ম. Occurs at 4:24 (new self created in righteousness), 5:9 (fruit of light), and as the breastplate in 6:14.
Salvation
Approved rendering: পৰিত্ৰাণ
Transliteration: poritran
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: মুক্তি, মোক্ষ, নিস্তাৰ
Inherited from Romans package. CRITICAL: never মুক্তি or মোক্ষ. Central to Eph 2:5,8 (‘by grace you have been saved,’ the core-passage thesis) and imaged as the helmet in 6:17. Must match Romans 1:16 rendering identically per cross-document consistency rules.
Resurrection
Approved rendering: পুনৰুত্থান
Transliteration: punoruththan
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ
Rejected alternatives: পুনৰ্জন্ম, পুনৰ্জীৱন
Inherited from Romans package. CRITICAL: never পুনৰ্জন্ম. Referenced as the power at work in Christ (1:20); must be clearly distinguished from believers’ positional co-resurrection (2:6, see ‘raised_and_seated_with_christ’).
Lord
Approved rendering: প্ৰভু
Transliteration: prôbhu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: স্বামী, ঈশ্বৰ
Inherited from Romans package. Reserved exclusively for Christ’s divine Lordship throughout Ephesians (1:2,3,15,17; 2:21; 3:11; 4:1,5,17; 5:8,10,17,19,20,22; 6:1,4,7,8,10,21,23,24). In the household code (6:5-9) the mundane sense of κύριος (earthly slave-owner) must render মালিক instead — see ‘master_earthly.’ NEVER interchange these two renderings.
Son Of God
Approved rendering: ঈশ্বৰৰ পুত্ৰ
Transliteration: Iswôror putrô
Doctrine: Sonship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ঈশ্বৰৰ অংশ, দেৱপুৰুষ
Inherited from Romans package. Underlies Eph 4:13 (‘knowledge of the Son of God’).
Messiah
Approved rendering: মচীহ
Transliteration: mosih
Doctrine: Messianic Promise
Rejected alternatives: অভিষিক্ত ব্যক্তি, অৱতাৰ পুৰুষ
Inherited from Romans package. Reserved for the titular/OT-promise sense; Ephesians overwhelmingly uses Χριστός as a proper name attached to Jesus, rendered খ্ৰীষ্ট (see ‘christ’ below) rather than মচীহ.
Jesus
Approved rendering: যীচু
Transliteration: Yisu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ঈছা
Inherited from Romans package. Consistently paired with খ্ৰীষ্ট (‘Christ’) throughout the letter.
God
Approved rendering: ঈশ্বৰ
Transliteration: Iswôr
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ভগৱান, পৰমেশ্বৰ
Inherited from Romans package. Never ভগৱান/পৰমেশ্বৰ.
Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: পবিত্ৰ আত্মা
Transliteration: pobitrô atma
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: ব্ৰহ্ম, পৰমাত্মা
Inherited from Romans package. Never ব্ৰহ্ম/পৰমাত্মা. Recurs across every chapter (1:13; 2:18,22; 3:5,16; 4:3,4,30; 5:18; 6:17,18); Eph 4:30 (‘grieve not the Holy Spirit’) depends entirely on the Spirit’s personhood.
Christ
Approved rendering: খ্ৰীষ্ট
Transliteration: Khristô
Doctrine: Christology
Rejected alternatives: মচীহ (reserved for titular OT-promise sense only)
NEW for Ephesians (proper-name usage distinct from the titular ‘messiah’ entry above). Established Assamese Bible term, used constantly in the letter’s central identity-formula ‘in Christ’ / ‘in Christ Jesus’ (1:1,3,10,12; 2:6,7,10,13; 3:6,11,21; and elsewhere). Must never be interpreted as one avatar-figure or great teacher among others, nor as an honorific title detachable from the unique person Jesus.
Made Alive With Christ
Approved rendering: খ্ৰীষ্টৰ সৈতে একেলগে সাৰুৱাই তোলা
Transliteration: Khristor xoite êkêlôgê xaruwai tola
Doctrine: Union with Christ
Rejected alternatives: পুনৰ্জন্ম-adjacent phrasing (forbidden)
NEW. Occurs at 2:5. Must never carry a rebirth/reincarnation sense — this is once-for-all spiritual quickening from death-in-sin into new life united with Christ, not entry into a rebirth cycle. Mandatory translator note at first occurrence, cross-referencing the Romans baseline’s resurrection/পুনৰ্জন্ম prohibition.
Gift Of God
Approved rendering: ঈশ্বৰৰ দান
Transliteration: Iswôror dan
Doctrine: Salvation by Grace through Faith
NEW. Occurs at 2:8. দান is the classical Hindu meritorious-giving virtue (almsgiving/temple donation generating পুণ্য for the giver). MANDATORY translator note at every occurrence: this gift originates unilaterally from God and creates no merit-account or reciprocal religious obligation on the recipient; direct positive counterpart to ‘not of works’ (2:9).
Works
Approved rendering: কৰ্ম
Transliteration: kôrmo
Doctrine: Good Works as Fruit of Salvation
NEW. Occurs at 2:9, 2:10. Highest-stakes single term in the book: কৰ্ম (karma) in Assamese Hindu usage denotes the cosmic-causal law generating merit/demerit across rebirths. MANDATORY translator note at every occurrence distinguishing Pauline ἔργα (any human deed, religious or otherwise) from the full technical Hindu doctrine of karma. Without this note, readers may hear ‘not by works’ as an internal karma-system claim rather than Paul’s totalizing rejection of any deed-based standing.
Good Works
Approved rendering: সৎকৰ্ম
Transliteration: sôtkôrmo
Doctrine: Good Works as Fruit of Salvation
NEW. Occurs at 2:10. Reuses the ἔργα root of v.9, but here works are the FRUIT, never the ROOT, of salvation. The sequence — grace/faith produce salvation; salvation produces good works — must never be reversed or blurred; this ordering is the single most important structural safeguard against a karma-merit misreading of the whole core passage.
Redemption
Approved rendering: উদ্ধাৰ
Transliteration: uddhar
Doctrine: Redemption
Rejected alternatives: মুক্তি-cognate renderings (forbidden)
NEW. Occurs at 1:7, 1:14. Many South Asian Bible traditions render ‘redemption’ with a মুক্তি-cognate word; this must be permanently avoided in Assamese exactly as the Romans baseline forbids মুক্তি/মোক্ষ for salvation — মুক্তি names liberation from the rebirth cycle. Where the ‘price paid’ nuance needs emphasis, use তেজৰ মূল্যৰে উদ্ধাৰ (‘rescue by the price of blood’).
Mystery
Approved rendering: ৰহস্য
Transliteration: rôhôsyô
Doctrine: The Mystery of Christ Revealed
Rejected alternatives: গুহ্য (Tantric technical-term register, avoided)
NEW. Occurs at 1:9; 3:3,4,6,9; 5:32; 6:19. Single highest cultural-collision term in the book: Assam’s Shakta-Tantra (Kamakhya) tradition uses ৰহস্য/গুহ্য for esoteric teaching restricted to initiates under a guru. Biblical μυστήριον is the theological inverse — hidden by God’s own choice, now deliberately and OPENLY proclaimed to all, Jew and Gentile alike. MANDATORY translator note at every occurrence; the note at 5:32 (marriage typology) must be the most extensive in the book given the risk of Tantric sexual-mystical (maithuna) assimilation.
Prince Of Power Of Air
Approved rendering: বায়ুমণ্ডলৰ ক্ষমতাৰ অধিপতি
Transliteration: bayumondôlor khyômotar odhipoti
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare
NEW. Occurs at 2:2. Assamese folk religion (bez-healers, deodhani trance-possession rites, Kamakhya-centered Shakta-Tantra tradition) attributes real power to spirits of the air/forest/household, appeased or exorcised ritually. Must affirm a real personal devil under God’s sovereign limit, opposed through Christ’s finished work, prayer, and the Word — NEVER appeasement or transactional ritual. Mandatory translator note at first occurrence.
Cosmic Powers Of Darkness
Approved rendering: এই জগতৰ অন্ধকারৰ শাসনকৰ্তা
Transliteration: ei jogotor ondhôkaror xaxonkôrta
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare
NEW. Occurs at 6:12 (literally ‘world-rulers of this darkness’). Part of the single most doctrinally sensitive verse in the book for an Assamese audience given the Shakta-Tantra religious landscape and folk exorcism practice.
Spiritual Forces Of Evil
Approved rendering: স্বৰ্গীয় স্থানত থাকা মন্দ আত্মিক শক্তি
Transliteration: swôrgiyô sthanôt thaka mondo atmik xôkti
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare
NEW. Occurs at 6:12. Requires a MANDATORY, extensive translator note comparable in gravity to the Romans baseline’s incarnation/avatar note, affirming: (1) these are real, personal, spiritual beings, not mere personifications of abstract evil; (2) already decisively defeated by Christ (cf. 1:20-21); (3) the believer resists through faith, truth, prayer, and Scripture — NEVER through ritual appeasement, offering, exorcistic mantra-transaction, or consultation of intermediary spirit-specialists (bez/deodhani practice).
High Risk Terms
Gospel

Transliteration: xusomacar
Doctrine: Gospel
Rejected alternatives: ভাল খবৰ, শুভবাৰ্তা

Transliteration: anugrôh
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: কৃপা, দয়া, বৰ, সৌভাগ্য, পুণ্য
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs throughout Ephesians (1:2,6,7; 2:5,7,8; 3:2,7; 4:7; 6:24). In Eph 2:5-8 and 4:7 the contrast with works/merit is especially load-bearing; must never be assimilated to বৰ (boon-for-devotion) or to কৰ্ম-based merit.
Faith
Approved rendering: বিশ্বাস
Transliteration: biswax
Doctrine: Faith
Rejected alternatives: শ্ৰদ্ধা, ভক্তি
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:15; 2:8; 3:12,17; 4:5,13; 6:16,23. In Eph 2:8 faith is the instrument, never the ground, of salvation; must retain a recoverable object (Christ) even where used absolutely, as in ‘one faith’ (4:5).

Transliteration: matā

Transliteration: puhaputrô sôrupe grôhon
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Rejected alternatives: পোহনিয়া কৰা

Rejected alternatives: দেৱজ্যোতি, তেজ
Inherited from Romans package. Recurs in every doxological refrain of chapter 1 (1:6,12,14,17,18) and at 3:13,16,21.
Power Of God

Transliteration: Iswôror xôkti

Rejected alternatives: বল
Inherited from Romans package. Anchors the four-word power-cluster of 1:19-21 (with পৰাক্ৰম, কাৰ্যকাৰিতা, আধিপত্য) and recurs at 3:7,16,20 and 6:10.
Covenant
Approved rendering: নিয়ম
Transliteration: niyôm
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Rejected alternatives: চুক্তি, বন্দোবস্ত
Inherited from Romans package. Underlies ‘covenants of the promise’ from which Gentiles were formerly strangers (2:12).
Election
Approved rendering: ঈশ্বৰৰ মনোনয়ন
Transliteration: Iswôror monônoyon
Doctrine: Effectual Calling
Rejected alternatives: ভাগ্য, নিয়তি, কপাল
Inherited from Romans package. Foundational to Eph 1:4, ‘he chose us in him before the foundation of the world.’ Never ভাগ্য/নিয়তি/কপাল.
Providence
Approved rendering: ঈশ্বৰৰ বিধান
Transliteration: Iswôror bidhan
Doctrine: Providence
Rejected alternatives: ভাগ্য, কৰ্মফল
Inherited from Romans package. Underlies 1:11’s ‘works all things according to the counsel of his will.‘

Rejected alternatives: ব্ৰহ্মা, সৃষ্টিকৰ্তা
Inherited from Romans package. Foundational to 1:2,3,17; 2:18; 3:14-15 (‘every family… named’); 4:6, 5:20, 6:23.
Abba
Approved rendering: আব্বা
Transliteration: Abba
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Inherited from Romans package. Not directly cited in Ephesians but governs the adoption/Abba-Father register carried into Eph 1:5’s predestination-to-adoption statement; retain the transliteration in any cross-referencing catechetical material.
Dead In Sin
Approved rendering: মৃত
Transliteration: mritô
Doctrine: Total Spiritual Death
Rejected alternatives: দুৰ্বল (weak), নিদ্ৰিত (sleeping)
NEW. Occurs at 2:1, 2:5. Must preserve total spiritual deadness, not partial weakness; sets up the sharp death/life antithesis with v.5’s ‘made alive.‘
Flesh Corrupted Nature
Approved rendering: মাংসিক প্ৰকৃতি
Transliteration: mangxik prôkriti
Doctrine: Total Spiritual Death
NEW. Occurs at 2:3 (with মাংসিক অভিলাষ, ‘desires of the flesh’). Names the corrupted, self-oriented moral disposition, distinct from the neutral, physical sense of σάρξ used in ordinary bodily-descent contexts.
Children Of Wrath
Approved rendering: স্বভাবতেই ক্ৰোধৰ সন্তান
Transliteration: sôbhabôtei krodhor xôntan
Doctrine: Total Spiritual Death
NEW. Occurs at 2:3. God’s ক্ৰোধ (wrath) must read as the personal, righteous, moral response of a holy God to sin, not impersonal কৰ্মফল (karma-fruit) automatically ripening from past deeds. Distinguishing note recommended at first occurrence.
Mercy
Approved rendering: দয়া
Transliteration: dôya
Doctrine: Salvation by Grace through Faith
NEW. Occurs at 2:4. Distinct from অনুগ্ৰহ (grace); here ἔλεος is salvific, so দয়া must be reinforced by context, paired with অনুগ্ৰহ, as God’s own personal compassion, not a generic human virtue.
Raised And Seated With Christ
Approved rendering: খ্ৰীষ্টৰ সৈতে একেলগে তোলা / একেলগে বহুওৱা
Transliteration: Khristôr xoite êkêlôgê tola / êkêlôgê bôhuwa
Doctrine: Union with Christ
NEW. Occurs at 2:6. Must not be confused with পুনৰুত্থান (the historical bodily event, Critical, TM-locked); this is the believer’s positional union with that event’s benefits, not a repetition of it.
Heavenly Places
Approved rendering: স্বৰ্গীয় স্থান
Transliteration: swôrgiyô sthan
Doctrine: Union with Christ
NEW. Recurs at 1:3,20; 2:6; 3:10; 6:12 — render identically at every occurrence. Must not be assimilated to the Puranic স্বৰ্গ (Swarga, Indra’s heaven), a temporary merit-based waystation from which souls eventually fall once merit is exhausted.
Prepared Beforehand
Approved rendering: আগেয়ে যুগুত কৰা
Transliteration: agêyê yugut kôra
Doctrine: Good Works as Fruit of Salvation
Rejected alternatives: ভাগ্য/নিয়তি vocabulary (forbidden)
NEW. Occurs at 2:10. Must convey a personal Father’s intentional preparation, not an impersonal fated script (ভাগ্য/নিয়তি) determining actions mechanically.
Forgiveness
Approved rendering: ক্ষমা
Transliteration: khyôma
Doctrine: Redemption
NEW. Occurs at 1:7. Names only the removal of guilt; must not be substituted for ধাৰ্মিক বুলি গণ্য কৰা (justification, TM-locked in the Romans baseline) — related but distinct.
Savior
Approved rendering: পৰিত্ৰাণকৰ্তা
Transliteration: poritranôkôrta
Doctrine: Christology
NEW. Occurs at 5:23 (‘Savior of the body’). A natural compound of the Critical baseline root পৰিত্ৰাণ; must always retain the same theological weight as পৰিত্ৰাণ itself.
Predestined
Approved rendering: পূৰ্বনিৰ্ধাৰিত
Transliteration: purbo-nirdharitô
Doctrine: Election and Predestination in Christ
Rejected alternatives: বিধাতা, ভাগ্য, নিয়তি, কপাল, কৰ্মফল
NEW. Occurs at 1:5, 1:11. Never ভাগ্য/নিয়তি/কপাল/কৰ্মফল vocabulary; the deliberate, personal choice of a loving Father (1:5, ‘in love he predestined us’), not an impersonal cosmic script. Functions exactly as ‘election’ functions in Romans; receives the same theologian-review routing.
Inheritance
Approved rendering: উত্তৰাধিকাৰ
Transliteration: uttôradhikar
Doctrine: Election and Predestination in Christ
NEW. Occurs at 1:11, 1:14, 1:18. Ties directly to the adoption doctrine (TM পোহাপুত্ৰ স্বৰূপে গ্ৰহণ) — full, not partial or provisional, inheritance rights, not contingent on an ongoing karma-merit balance.
Sealed With Spirit
Approved rendering: সীলমোহৰ কৰা
Transliteration: silmohor kôra
Doctrine: Election and Predestination in Christ
NEW. Occurs at 1:13, 4:30. Personal ownership-mark of assurance from the Spirit, not a magical protective mark or amulet (a genre with which Assamese folk-religious kavach practice could be confused if handled carelessly).
Fellow Heirs
Approved rendering: সহ-উত্তৰাধিকাৰী, সহ-অংগ, সহ-ভাগী
Transliteration: xoho-uttôradhikari, xoho-ôngô, xoho-bhagi
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
Rejected alternatives: ‘included’ (softening rejected), ‘allowed to join’ (softening rejected)
NEW. Triple compound at 3:6, emphasizing full, equal Gentile participation in the promise, the body, and the inheritance. Must not be softened to mere inclusion or permission.
Body Of Christ
Approved rendering: শৰীৰ
Transliteration: xôrir
Doctrine: The Church as the Body of Christ
NEW. Occurs at 1:23; 2:16; 3:6; 4:4,12,16; 5:23,30. Must not be read as absorption into an undifferentiated divine substance (a monistic risk given Vedantic jīvātma/Paramātma thought); the metaphor preserves the distinct personhood of every member united organically under Christ the Head.
Fullness
Approved rendering: পৰিপূৰ্ণতা
Transliteration: poripurnôta
Doctrine: The Church as the Body of Christ
NEW. Recurs at 1:23, 3:19, 4:13 — render identically at every occurrence. Must not be assimilated to the Vedantic notion of an impersonal, all-pervading fullness (Brahman) that erases personal distinction; describes the church’s participation in Christ’s own relational completeness, received rather than intrinsically possessed.
Head
Approved rendering: মূৰ
Transliteration: mur
Doctrine: The Church as the Body of Christ
NEW. Occurs at 1:22, 4:15, 5:23. Applied to Christ over the church and the husband over the wife; must convey self-giving, sacrificial headship as explicitly defined by 5:25, not domination or a superior-caste-style authority pattern.
Cosmic Dominion
Approved rendering: আধিপত্য
Transliteration: adhipôtyô
Doctrine: Christ’s Exaltation and Cosmic Authority
NEW. Occurs at 1:21 (κυριότης, a cosmic rank over which Christ is exalted, not Christ’s own Lordship). Deliberately kept distinct from প্ৰভু/প্ৰভুত্ব, reserved exclusively for Christ’s own Lordship title per the Romans baseline.
Might And Working
Approved rendering: পৰাক্ৰম / কাৰ্যকাৰিতা
Transliteration: porakrôm / karyôkarita
Doctrine: Christ’s Exaltation and Cosmic Authority
NEW. κράτος (পৰাক্ৰম) and ἐνέργεια (কাৰ্যকাৰিতা) form part of the four-word power-cluster of 1:19-21 alongside ঈশ্বৰৰ শক্তি (TM); κράτος recurs at 6:10 and ἐνέργεια at 3:20 — render identically at every occurrence.
Holy Temple
Approved rendering: পবিত্ৰ গৃহ
Transliteration: pobitrô grihô
Doctrine: The Church as God’s Temple
Rejected alternatives: মন্দিৰ (forbidden)
NEW. Occurs at 2:21. Must NEVER render মন্দিৰ (the image-housing Hindu temple, already forbidden for church concepts in the Romans baseline). Names the corporate people of God as the place where God’s Spirit personally dwells, not a building for image-based worship. Mandatory distinguishing note at first occurrence.
One New Humanity
Approved rendering: এক নতুন মানৱতা
Transliteration: êk notun manôbôta
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
NEW. Occurs at 2:15. Must not be flattened into mere social tolerance or harmony rhetoric — an actual new spiritual creation. Directly challenges caste-based spiritual hierarchy in Assamese Hindu social structure and must not be softened.
Reconciliation
Approved rendering: মিলন
Transliteration: milon
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
NEW. Occurs at 2:16, 2:18. Both the vertical (to God) and horizontal (Jew-Gentile) dimensions must be preserved; must not collapse into merely interpersonal peacemaking.
Rulers And Authorities
Approved rendering: শাসনকৰ্তা / ক্ষমতা
Transliteration: xaxonkôrta / khyômota
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare
NEW. Occurs at 1:21, 3:10, 6:12. Same cosmic-power vocabulary throughout — must render identically at all three locations, since 6:12 depends on readers recognizing these as the same powers already declared subject to Christ in chapter 1.
Devil
Approved rendering: শয়তান
Transliteration: xoytan
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare
NEW. Occurs at 4:27, 6:11. Established transliterated/loan term. Must be presented as a specific, personal, defeated-but-active enemy — not a generic evil spirit or ancestral/household spirit of the kind addressed in Assamese folk exorcism practice.
Armor Of God
Approved rendering: ঈশ্বৰৰ সম্পূৰ্ণ বৰ্ম
Transliteration: Iswôror sompurnô bôrmô
Doctrine: The Armor of God
Rejected alternatives: কবচ (forbidden — Puranic magically-empowered protective amulet, e.g. Krishna’s/Karna’s kavacha)
NEW. Occurs at 6:11, 6:13. Deliberately uses generic martial বৰ্ম, NOT কবচ, which is a close narrative parallel that could recast this passage as a myth of magical protective gear rather than active, faith-and-Scripture-based resistance.
Love Agape
Approved rendering: প্ৰেম
Transliteration: prem
Doctrine: Household Codes and Christ-Centered Relationships
NEW. Occurs at 1:4; 2:4; 3:17-19; 4:2,15-16; 5:2,25,28,33. Assamese Vaishnavite devotional vocabulary (প্ৰেম/প্ৰীতি, Ekasarana Dharma) names ecstatic devotional love toward Krishna cultivated through the worshiper’s own spiritual practice; biblical agapē must be distinguished as God’s initiating, self-giving, covenantal love that acts for the beloved’s good while the beloved is spiritually dead and unlovely (2:1,4) — a mandatory distinguishing note is required at first occurrence and wherever love is contrasted with human effort.
Submit
Approved rendering: বশ্যতা স্বীকাৰ কৰা
Transliteration: bôxyôta swikar kôra
Doctrine: Marriage as a Picture of Christ and the Church
NEW. Occurs at 5:21, 5:22, 5:24. Must be distinguished from the Hindu pativratā-dharma framework, in which a wife’s total, unconditional submission to her husband is itself a religious duty generating spiritual merit. In Ephesians, submission is mutual as a starting principle (5:21), Christ-bounded (5:25), and never a matter of inherent worth or merit-status. Theologian-reviewed note mandatory.
Master Earthly
Approved rendering: মালিক
Transliteration: malik
Doctrine: Masters and Bondservants
Rejected alternatives: প্ৰভু (forbidden in this sense)
NEW. Occurs at 6:5, 6:9. CRITICAL consistency point: the same Greek word κύριος is used elsewhere exclusively for Christ’s exclusive divine Lordship (TM প্ৰভু, Critical). In the household code (6:5-9), κύριος MUST render মালিক, never প্ৰভু, to prevent dilution of the Critical baseline Lordship term by an everyday human-authority relationship.
Washing Of Water
Approved rendering: ধুই পৰিষ্কাৰ কৰা
Transliteration: dhui poriskar kôra
Doctrine: Sanctification and Holy Living
NEW. Occurs at 5:26. Must be distinguished from Hindu ritual purificatory bathing (tirtha-snāna in the Brahmaputra, or Kamakhya-associated ritual bathing) — this washing is effected ‘by the word’ received in faith, not through contact with physically sacred water.
Mature Complete
Approved rendering: পৰিপূৰ্ণ
Transliteration: poripurnô
Doctrine: Gifts for Building Up the Church
Rejected alternatives: সিদ্ধ (forbidden)
NEW. Occurs at 4:13. NEVER সিদ্ধ, a term for a yogic/tantric adept who has attained supernatural perfection or liberation through personal spiritual discipline; τέλειος here names corporate, Christ-given maturity in the church, not individual siddhi attainment.
Walk
Approved rendering: জীৱন-যাপন কৰা / আচৰণ কৰা
Transliteration: jibôn-yapôn kôra / acôrôn kôra
Doctrine: Walking in Newness of Life
Rejected alternatives: মাৰ্গ (forbidden — a self-chosen spiritual-discipline path, e.g. bhakti-mārga, jñāna-mārga)
NEW. Occurs at 2:2, 2:10, 4:1, 4:17, 5:2, 5:8, 5:15. MUST render identically at every occurrence to preserve the book’s deliberate old-walk/new-walk rhetorical structure, opening (2:2) and closing (2:10) the core passage as a deliberate inclusio. NEVER মাৰ্গ.
Old Man New Man
Approved rendering: পুৰণি মানুহ / নতুন মানুহ
Transliteration: purôni manuh / notun manuh
Doctrine: Walking in Newness of Life
NEW. Occurs at 4:22, 4:24. A definitive, once-for-all re-creation of identity in union with Christ (echoing 2:10, 2:15), imaged as clothing removed and put on. Must be distinguished from the Ekasarana Dharma naam-conversion identity-change rite and from generalized Hindu ideas of gradual self-purification across lifetimes.
Grieve Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: পবিত্ৰ আত্মাক দুখ দিয়া
Transliteration: pobitrô atmak dukh diya
Doctrine: Sealing and Guarantee of the Holy Spirit
NEW. Occurs at 4:30. Reinforces the personhood of the Spirit — an impersonal force or life-principle cannot be grieved; directly supports the Romans baseline’s rejection of ব্ৰহ্ম/পৰমাত্মা for the Holy Spirit.
Filled With Spirit
Approved rendering: পবিত্ৰ আত্মাত পূৰ্ণ হৈ থাকা
Transliteration: pobitrô atmat purnô hoi thaka
Doctrine: Being Filled with the Spirit
NEW. Occurs at 5:18. Must be distinguished from ecstatic trance/possession states associated with Assamese folk-religious practice (e.g., deodhani spirit-possession dance at Kamakhya-tradition festivals) and from ritual/substance-induced altered states; biblical Spirit-filling is sober-minded worship and thanksgiving, not loss of conscious self-control.
Idolatry
Approved rendering: প্ৰতিমা পূজা
Transliteration: prôtima puja
Doctrine: Idolatry and Covetousness
NEW. Occurs at 5:5. Requires pastorally sensitive, theologian-reviewed contextual framing: mainstream Assamese Hindu religious life (Durga Puja, Kali/Kamakhya worship, household deity shrines) is substantially image-centered, while the aniconic Ekasarana Dharma tradition explicitly rejects image worship. Paul’s equation of covetousness with idolatry must not be blunted, nor read as an unglossed blanket condemnation of a neighbor’s religious practice.
Medium Risk Terms
Apostle
Approved rendering: প্ৰেৰিত
Transliteration: prerito
Doctrine: Apostleship
Rejected alternatives: দূত, গুৰু
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:1; 2:20; 3:5; 4:11 among Christ’s gifts to the church. Never গুৰু — avoids collapse into the Satradhikar guru-succession structure of Ekasarana Dharma.
Peace
Approved rendering: শান্তি
Transliteration: xanti
Doctrine: Peace with God
Rejected alternatives: সুখ, প্ৰশান্তি
Inherited from Romans package. In Eph 2:14-17 Christ ‘is our peace,’ both vertical (with God) and horizontal (Jew-Gentile); also part of the armor at 6:15.
Spiritual Gifts
Approved rendering: আত্মিক বৰ
Transliteration: atmik bôr
Doctrine: Spiritual Gifts
Rejected alternatives: বৰ, দৈৱী শক্তি
Inherited from Romans package. Underlies Eph 4:7-8, 4:11’s gift-giving to the church; always Spirit-given enablement, never merit-earned yogic siddhi.
Church
Approved rendering: মণ্ডলী
Transliteration: môndoli
Doctrine: Church as God’s People
Rejected alternatives: মন্দিৰ, নামঘৰ
Inherited from Romans package. NEVER নামঘৰ or মন্দিৰ. Central corporate image of the letter (1:22-23; 3:10,21; 5:23-32).
Kingdom Of God
Approved rendering: ঈশ্বৰৰ ৰাজ্য
Transliteration: Iswôror rajyo
Doctrine: Kingdom Mission
Rejected alternatives: ঈশ্বৰৰ ৰাষ্ট্ৰ
Inherited from Romans package. Eph 5:5 excludes the covetous idolater from this kingdom.
Gentiles
Approved rendering: অনযাতি
Transliteration: onyojati
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
Rejected alternatives: বিদেশী
Inherited from Romans package. Central to the unity doctrine of Ephesians 2-3 (2:11; 3:1,6,8; 4:17).
Mission
Approved rendering: সুসমাচাৰ প্ৰচাৰ
Transliteration: xusomacar prôcar
Doctrine: Mission to the Nations
Inherited from Romans package. Underlies Paul’s ministry to the Gentiles (3:7-9) and the evangelist’s task (4:11); avoids loaded মিছন institutional associations.
Israel
Approved rendering: ইস্ৰায়েল
Transliteration: Israyel
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
Inherited from Romans package. Underlies ‘commonwealth of Israel’ at 2:12, from which Gentiles were formerly excluded.
Trespass
Approved rendering: অপৰাধ
Transliteration: oporadh
Doctrine: Total Spiritual Death
NEW. Occurs at 1:7, 2:1, 2:5. Distinct from পাপ (general sin category); the two terms occur together and must not be merged into a single word.
Sons Of Disobedience
Approved rendering: অবাধ্যতাৰ সন্তান
Transliteration: obadhyôtar xôntan
Doctrine: Total Spiritual Death
NEW. Occurs at 2:2. Preserve the Hebraic ‘sons of’ idiom to keep the parallel with ‘children of wrath’ (2:3) and ‘children of light’ (5:8).
Course Of This World
Approved rendering: এই জগতৰ প্ৰচলিত ধাৰা
Transliteration: ei jogotor prôcolitô dhara
Doctrine: Total Spiritual Death
Rejected alternatives: যুগ (unqualified)
NEW. Occurs at 2:2. Avoid unqualified যুগ, the term for Hindu cosmological ages (Satya, Kali Yuga); if used at all it must be tightly bound to ‘এই জগতৰ’ to avoid a cyclical cosmic-age reading.
Kindness
Approved rendering: দয়ালুতা
Transliteration: dôyaluta
Doctrine: Salvation by Grace through Faith
NEW. Occurs at 2:7. Kept distinct from দয়া (mercy) and অনুগ্ৰহ (grace) — a third, related but distinguishable term.
Boast
Approved rendering: গৌৰৱ কৰা
Transliteration: gourôb kôra
Doctrine: Good Works as Fruit of Salvation
NEW. Occurs at 2:9. Preserve the causal ‘so that no one may boast’ as the negative counterpart to v.10’s positive purpose clause.
Workmanship
Approved rendering: সৃষ্টি
Transliteration: sristi
Doctrine: Good Works as Fruit of Salvation
NEW. Occurs at 2:10. Qualify as ‘নতুন সৃষ্টি’ (new creation) or tie explicitly to ‘খ্ৰীষ্ট যীচুত’ so readers understand this as the specific new-creation act in Christ, not a restatement of Genesis creation.
Guarantee
Approved rendering: জামিন
Transliteration: jamin
Doctrine: Election and Predestination in Christ
NEW. Occurs at 1:14. A commercial-legal term repurposed theologically; retain relational warmth alongside the legal image — the Spirit himself is God’s own guarantee, not a cold legal technicality.
Dwelling Place
Approved rendering: নিবাসস্থান
Transliteration: nibaxôsthan
Doctrine: The Church as God’s Temple
NEW. Occurs at 2:22. The dwelling place of God in the Spirit, the corporate church.
Blessed Blessing
Approved rendering: ধন্য / আশীৰ্বাদ
Transliteration: dhonyô / axirbad
Doctrine: Doxology and Thanksgiving
NEW. Occurs at 1:3. আশীৰ্বাদ is the everyday word for a blessing from an elder, deity, or guru; here it must be understood as the specific, comprehensive spiritual blessing ‘in the heavenly places in Christ’ — the totality of salvation benefits, not a routine social or devotional blessing.
Circumcision
Approved rendering: চুন্নৎ / অচুন্নৎ
Transliteration: cunnôt / ôcunnôt
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
NEW. Occurs at 2:11. চুন্নৎ carries a strong contemporary association with the Islamic khatna rite; clarifying note needed distinguishing the OT covenant sign (now abolished as a barrier in Christ) from the unrelated modern ritual practice.
Dividing Wall
Approved rendering: বিভাজনৰ দেৱাল
Transliteration: bibhajonor dewal
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
Rejected alternatives: পাৰ্থক্য (abstracting softening rejected)
NEW. Occurs at 2:14. Resonates with Assamese caste/ethnic separations — useful in teaching, but the historical Jew-Gentile referent must not be lost. Retain concrete দেৱাল (wall); do not abstract to পাৰ্থক্য (‘difference’), which mutes Paul’s force.
Fellow Citizens
Approved rendering: সহ-নাগৰিক
Transliteration: xoho-nagôrik
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
NEW. Occurs at 2:19. Gentile believers’ full standing alongside Jewish believers in God’s people.
Household Of God
Approved rendering: ঈশ্বৰৰ পৰিয়াল
Transliteration: Iswôror poriyal
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
NEW. Occurs at 2:19. Complements but is distinct from the adoption term (individual sonship) — emphasizes corporate family-belonging.
Cornerstone
Approved rendering: কোণৰ প্ৰধান শিল
Transliteration: konor prôdhan xil
Doctrine: The Church as God’s Temple
NEW. Occurs at 2:20. Christ as the structurally foundational stone of the church, built on the apostles and prophets.
Access
Approved rendering: প্ৰবেশাধিকাৰ
Transliteration: probêxadhikar
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
NEW. Occurs at 2:18, 3:12. Direct access to the Father granted through Christ to Jew and Gentile alike.
Stewardship
Approved rendering: দায়িত্ব / ব্যবস্থা
Transliteration: dayittô / byôbôstha
Doctrine: The Mystery of Christ Revealed
NEW. Occurs at 1:10, 3:2, 3:9. Paul’s divinely entrusted responsibility to disclose the mystery, not a self-claimed religious office.
Manifold Wisdom
Approved rendering: বহুবিধ প্ৰজ্ঞা
