Core Glossary
Core Glossary — Luke 1–24 (English–Assamese)
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing theological term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, organized first by the curriculum’s eight core doctrines, then by full A–Z term listing for Phase 2 lookup. Section A (Reused Romans Baseline Terms) must be used exactly as recorded in translation_memory.json/bible_term_registry.json — no deviation permitted. Section B (New Luke-Specific Terms) proposes new translation-memory entries for theologian ratification before Phase 2 begins. All risk tiers follow the baseline’s doctrine_risk_registry.json definitions (Critical / High / Medium / Low).
Section A — Reused Romans Baseline Terms Appearing in Luke

Section B — New Luke-Specific Terms (Proposed for Translation Memory)
Organized by the curriculum’s eight doctrines. Each entry gives the proposed Assamese rendering, transliteration, risk tier, rejected alternatives, and grounding notes. These entries require theologian ratification (Critical/High) or native-speaker ratification (Medium) before Phase 2 begins, per the baseline’s Translation Memory Load and Enforcement Instructions.
Doctrine 1 — Jesus as Savior for All Nations and All People (Jew and Gentile, Rich and Poor)
| Term | Assamese | Transliteration | Risk | Rejected alternatives | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Savior | পৰিত্ৰাণকৰ্তা | poritranôkôrta | Critical | ত্ৰাণকৰ্তা, উদ্ধাৰকৰ্তা | Built on baseline পৰিত্ৰাণ to guarantee doctrinal continuity with salvation. Must be understood as the unique, exclusive Savior of Luke 2:11, not one deliverer-figure among several avatars/deities who “save” devotees within a bhakti merit-framework. |
| Poor | দৰিদ্ৰ | dorídro | Medium-High | কঙাল | Retains full socio-economic force (Luke 4:18, 6:20, 14:13, 16:19-31); do not over-spiritualize into an exclusively inward “poor in spirit” sense (that is Matthew’s distinct wording, absent from Luke). |
| Rich | ধনী | dhôni | Medium | বিত্তবান | Paired contrast term to দৰিদ্ৰ throughout the Rich/Poor reversal theme (1:53, 6:24, 12:16-21, 16:19-31, 18:18-25, 19:1-10). |
| Nations / all nations | জাতিসমূহ / সকলো জাতি | jatixômuho | High | — | Reuse baseline mission register; distinguish from অনযাতি (Gentiles specifically) — “nations” is the broader universal category invoked at 24:47. |
| Universal invitation | (phrase-level; no single term) | — | High | — | See baseline universal_scope_of_gospel doctrine; Luke’s parable of the Great Banquet (14:15-24) and the Emmaus/Great Commission material (24:47) must retain unqualified universality. |
Doctrine 2 — The Holy Spirit’s Work in Salvation History
| Term | Assamese | Transliteration | Risk | Rejected alternatives | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spirit of the Lord | প্ৰভুৰ আত্মা | prôbhur atma | Critical | ঈশ্বৰৰ শক্তি (alone, too impersonal) | Luke 4:18 (Isaiah 61 citation). Must be read as identical in personal identity to পবিত্ৰ আত্মা (baseline); mandatory translator note at first occurrence. |
| Anointed / anoint | অভিষেক কৰা / অভিষিক্ত | obhishek kôra / obhishikto | High | — | Structurally similar to Hindu/Vaishnavite deity-consecration and Satradhikar installation rites; note this names a unique, once-for-all Messianic commissioning by the Spirit, not a repeatable ritual consecration. |
| Clothed with power from on high | ওপৰৰপৰা শক্তিৰে সজ্জিত হ’ব | — | Critical | — | Luke 24:49; reuse ঈশ্বৰৰ শক্তি/পবিত্ৰ আত্মা vocabulary; anticipates Pentecost. |
Doctrine 3 — Good News to the Poor and Marginalized
| Term | Assamese | Transliteration | Risk | Rejected alternatives | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Liberty/release (to captives, physical) | মুকলি / মুকলিকৰণ | mukoli / mukolikoron | High | মুক্তি (ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN — reserved for the rejected reincarnation-release sense) | Luke 4:18. Ordinary Assamese register word for “open/free/released,” deliberately distinct in form and register from the doctrinally forbidden মুক্তি. Jubilee-pattern physical/social release, a sign of the Kingdom pointing toward eternal পৰিত্ৰাণ, not identical to it. |
| Captives | বন্দী | bôndi | Low | — | Luke 4:18, 21:24. |
| Blind / recovery of sight | অন্ধ / দৃষ্টি পুনৰ পাওয়া | ondho / dristi punor pauwa | Medium | — | Both literal (physical healing, 7:21-22, 18:35-43) and figurative (spiritual blindness, 6:39, 11:34) senses recur; context determines register. |
| Oppressed / crushed | অত্যাচাৰিত / ভগ্ন | ôtyacarito / bhôgno | Medium | — | Luke 4:18b. |
| The acceptable year of the Lord (Jubilee) | প্ৰভুৰ অনুগ্ৰহৰ বছৰ | prôbhur anugrôhôr bôsôr | High | — | Luke 4:19. Deliberately built on baseline অনুগ্ৰহ; mandatory note on Levitical Jubilee background (Lev 25) with no Assamese cultural parallel; must not be conflated with an ordinary new-year renewal festival (e.g. Rongali Bihu). |
| Table fellowship / eating with (sinners) | সহভোজন | xohobhojon | High | — | Luke 5:29-30, 7:34, 7:36-50, 15:1-2, 19:1-10. Direct collision with caste-based commensality restrictions in Assamese Hindu social structure; the doctrine’s force depends on retaining this boundary-crossing meal-sharing meaning without softening. |
Doctrine 4 — Repentance and Forgiveness of Sins
| Term | Assamese | Transliteration | Risk | Rejected alternatives | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Repentance | মন-পালটন | mon-paltôn | High | প্ৰায়শ্চিত্ত (Hindu ritual/ascetic penance and merit-earning expiation — FORBIDDEN) | Luke 3:3, 3:8, 5:32, 13:3-5, 15:7-10, 24:47. Conveys relational, inward-outward reorientation toward God, not ritual/ascetic self-punishment. |
| Forgiveness (of sins) | ক্ষমা | kshôma | High | — | Luke 1:77, 3:3, 5:20-24, 7:47-49, 11:4, 17:3-4, 23:34, 24:47. Note the same Greek root (ἄφεσις) underlies both this term and মুকলি (physical release, 4:18) — flag the wordplay for translator awareness, but keep the two Assamese renderings distinct to avoid collateral collision with মুক্তি. |
| Baptism | বাপ্তিস্ম | baptisma (transliterated) | Medium | স্নান (ritual bathing, wrong register) | Luke 3:3-22, 7:29, 12:50, 20:4. One-time repentance-sign, not repeated ritual purification. |
| Wrath (of God) | ক্ৰোধ | khrodh | Medium | কর্মফল (FORBIDDEN — impersonal karmic retribution) | Luke 3:7. God’s personal righteous response to sin, not impersonal cosmic law. |
| Sinners | পাপী | papi | High | — | Luke 5:8, 5:30-32, 7:34, 7:37-39, 15:1-2, 15:7-10, 18:13, 19:7. Built on baseline পাপ; directly confronts caste/purity-based social exclusion. |
| God, be merciful to me, a sinner | ঈশ্বৰ, পাপী মোক কৃপা কৰক | — | Critical | — | Luke 18:13. Contains ἱλάσκομαι (propitiation-adjacent vocabulary) — mandatory theologian escalation per baseline atonement/propitiation rule. |
Doctrine 5 — Prayer and Dependence on God
| Term | Assamese | Transliteration | Risk | Rejected alternatives | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Prayer | প্ৰাৰ্থনা | prarthôna | High | — | Luke 3:21, 5:16, 6:12, 9:18, 9:28-29, 11:1-13, 18:1-14, 19:46, 22:39-46. Widely shared register with Hindu puja contexts; mandatory note that biblical prayer is direct personal address to God through no ritual intermediary or image, distinct from baseline intercession (মধ্যস্থতা), which names a mediated petition specifically through Christ. |
| Daily bread | দৈনিক আহাৰ | doinik ahar | Low | — | Luke 11:3, Lord’s Prayer. |
| Anxiety / do not be anxious | চিন্তা / চিন্তা নকৰিব | cinta | Low-Medium | — | Luke 12:22-31. |
| Most High | সৰ্বোপৰি ঈশ্বৰ | sôrbopôri Iswôr | Medium-High | পৰমেশ্বৰ (rejected per baseline god entry) | Luke 1:32, 1:35, 1:76, 6:35, 8:28. Always append ঈশ্বৰ to prevent the honorific floating free onto a Hindu ista-devata. |
Doctrine 6 — The Kingdom of God Present and Future
| Term | Assamese | Transliteration | Risk | Rejected alternatives | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Today (fulfillment formula) | আজি | aji | High | — | Luke 4:21, 19:9, 23:43. Luke’s signature “already” marker; must not be flattened, and must cohere with the “not yet” markers below. |
| Fulfilled | পূর্ণ হ’ল | purno hôlo | Critical | — | Luke 4:21, 24:44. Linear, historical, once-for-all fulfillment; never the cyclical avatar-descent pattern (cf. baseline incarnation/fulfillment_of_prophecy). |
| Kingdom of God is in your midst / near | ঈশ্বৰৰ ৰাজ্য তোমালোকৰ মাझত আছে / ওচৰ | — | High | তোমালোকৰ অন্তৰত (alternative considered, “within you”) | Luke 17:20-21 (present, ambiguous “among/within”) and 21:31 (future “near”). Flag both renderings as alternatives_considered per baseline ambiguity protocol; escalate to theologian review. |
| Narrow door | সংকীর্ণ দুয়ার | xôngkirno duar | Medium | — | Luke 13:24. Must not be read as contradicting universal invitation — narrowness is about required response, not restricted eligibility. |
Doctrine 7 — The Cost and Joy of Discipleship
| Term | Assamese | Transliteration | Risk | Rejected alternatives | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Disciple | শিষ্য | xissyô | High | — | Throughout Luke 5-24. Necessary established term but collides directly with the guru-śiṣya relationship of Ekasarana Dharma/Satra tradition; mandatory note: a disciple of Jesus follows in response to his sovereign call, not through formal guru-lineage initiation. |
| Follow | অনুসৰণ কৰা | ônusôron kôra | Medium | — | Luke 5:11, 5:27-28, 9:23, 9:57-62, 18:22, 18:28. |
| Cross (take up) | ক্ৰুচ | krus (transliterated) | High | — | Luke 9:23, 14:27, 23:26. Must retain specific reference to Jesus’ own crucifixion instrument, not become a generic hardship-metaphor. |
| Deny self | নিজকে অস্বীকাৰ কৰা | nijôke oswikar kôra | High | — | Luke 9:23. |
| Count the cost | খৰচ গণনা কৰা | khôrôc gônona kôra | Medium | — | Luke 14:28-33. |
| Hate father and mother (idiom) | (dynamic rendering required; not a literal রূপান্তৰ) | — | High | ঘিণাই কৰা (literal, MISLEADING) | Luke 14:26. Semitic hyperbole for relative priority; requires mandatory translator note against a literal-hatred misreading. |
| Joy | আনন্দ | anondô | Medium | সুখ (too weak/worldly) | Luke 1:14, 1:44, 2:10, 6:23, 10:17-21, 15:7-32, 19:6, 24:41, 24:52. Distinguish from transient worldly happiness and from ecstatic naam-kirtan-induced states; biblical joy here centers on God’s own joy over repentance and the presence of the risen Christ. |
Doctrine 8 — Jesus’ Compassion and Table Fellowship with Sinners
| Term | Assamese | Transliteration | Risk | Rejected alternatives | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Compassion | মৰম লগা / কৃপা কৰা | môrom lôga / kripa kôra | Medium | — | Luke 7:13, 10:33, 15:20. Compassion moves first and is unconditioned by the recipient’s merit or devotion — distinct from a bhakti deity’s karuna granted in response to worship. |
| Tax collector | কৰ আদায়কৰ্তা | kôr adaykôrta | Medium | — | Luke 3:12, 5:27-29, 7:34, 15:1, 18:10-13, 19:2. |
| Neighbor | চুবুৰীয়া | chuburia | High | — | Luke 10:27-37. Parallels baseline unity_of_jews_and_gentiles risk profile; note the Samaritan-Jew tension as analogous to Assam’s own caste/ethnic divisions. |
| Parable | দৃষ্টান্ত | dristanto | Low-Medium | — | Throughout Luke’s teaching material. |
| Unclean spirit | অশুচি আত্মা | ôxuci atma | Medium | — | Luke 4:33-36, 8:29, 9:42, 11:24. Names a personal demonic being; distinct usage of “impurity” language from baseline sin’s rejection of অশুচিতা as a gloss for moral sin. |
| The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost | মানুহৰ পুত্ৰ হেৰোৱা লোক বিচাৰি উদ্ধাৰ কৰিবলে আহিছে | — | Critical | — | Luke 19:10. Convergence summary verse; cross-reference with Luke 4:18-19 and 24:47 for consistency. |
| Son of Man | মানুহৰ পুত্ৰ | manuhor putro | Critical | — | Throughout (5:24, 6:5, 9:22, 9:26, 9:44, 9:58, 12:8, 17:24-30, 18:8, 18:31, 19:10, 21:27, 22:22, 22:48, 22:69, 24:7). Distinct Christological title from ঈশ্বৰৰ পুত্ৰ (Son of God); mandatory note conveying both genuine humanity and Daniel-7 apocalyptic authority — must not be flattened to mean merely “a human being.” |

- Luke 19:10 — “The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost”

Rejected alternatives: ত্ৰাণকৰ্তা, উদ্ধাৰকৰ্তা
Original: σωτήρ
Category: Salvation
New Luke-specific term, built on baseline পৰিত্ৰাণ to guarantee doctrinal continuity. Luke 2:11 (angel to shepherds), 1:47 (Mary of God). Must be read as the unique, exclusive Savior, not one deliverer-figure among several avatars/deities who ‘save’ devotees within a bhakti merit-framework. Because announced first to lowly shepherds, this term also anchors the Savior-for-all-people doctrine.
Spirit Of The Lord
Approved rendering: প্ৰভুৰ আত্মা
Transliteration: prôbhur atma
Doctrine: The Holy Spirit’s Work in Salvation History
Rejected alternatives: ঈশ্বৰৰ শক্তি (alone, too impersonal)
Original: Πνεῦμα Κυρίου
Category: God
New Luke-specific term. Isaiah 61 citation in the core passage, Luke 4:18. Must be read as identical in personal identity to পবিত্ৰ আত্মা; mandatory translator note at first occurrence, since ঈশ্বৰৰ শক্তি alone would be too impersonal.
Clothed With Power From On High
Approved rendering: ওপৰৰপৰা শক্তিৰে সজ্জিত হ’ব
Transliteration: oporor pora xôktire xojjito hôbo
Doctrine: The Holy Spirit’s Work in Salvation History
Original: ἐνδύσησθε ἐξ ὕψους δύναμιν
Category: God
New Luke-specific term. Luke 24:49, the risen Christ’s promise anticipating Pentecost. Preserve the full compound phrase; do not compress to bare ঈশ্বৰৰ শক্তি, which loses the ‘clothed’/enduement imagery and its personal-Spirit anchoring.
Fulfilled
Approved rendering: পূর্ণ হ’ল
Transliteration: purno hôlo
Doctrine: Fulfillment of Prophecy
Original: πληρόω (πεπλήρωται)
Category: Eschatology
New Luke-specific term. Core passage’s linchpin verb, Luke 4:21; also 24:44. Must convey linear, historical, once-for-all fulfillment; never the cyclical dharma-restoration/avatar-descent pattern. Pair consistently with দেহধাৰণ/মচীহ vocabulary elsewhere in the curriculum.

Transliteration: manuhor putro
Doctrine: Son of Man Christology
Original: ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου

Distinct Christological title from ঈশ্বৰৰ পুত্ৰ (Son of God); mandatory note conveying both genuine humanity and Daniel-7 apocalyptic authority — must not be flattened to mean merely ‘a human being,’ nor conflated with Son of God as an interchangeable synonym.
New Covenant
Approved rendering: নতুন নিয়ম
Transliteration: notun niyôm
Doctrine: The New Covenant and the Lord’s Supper
Original: καινὴ διαθήκη
Category: Covenant
New Luke-specific term, built on baseline নিয়ম. Luke 22:20, the Last Supper. Must convey a relational covenant sealed in Christ’s own blood, fulfilling and superseding — never abolishing — the prior covenant, with no implication of a repeatable sacrificial system.
Body Given For You
Approved rendering: এইটোৱে মোৰ শৰীর, তোমালোকৰ কাৰণে দিয়া
Transliteration: eitoue mor xorir, tomalokor karone diya

Category: Salvation
New Luke-specific term. Luke 22:19, Institution of the Lord’s Supper. Sacrificial, substitutionary language; mandatory human theologian escalation per the atonement/propitiation rule. Must not be assimilated to ritual sacrifice offered to appease a deity for personal merit accrual.
Paradise
Approved rendering: স্বৰ্গ (contextually qualified)
Transliteration: xôrgô
Doctrine: Post-Mortem Destiny and Judgment
Rejected alternatives: পৰমধাম, বৈকুণ্ঠ (FORBIDDEN)
Original: παράδεισος
Category: Eschatology
New Luke-specific term. Luke 23:43, Jesus’ word to the repentant criminal. Never পৰমধাম or বৈকুণ্ঠ (the Vaishnavite eternal abode of Vishnu/Krishna, reached through bhakti/merit). Mandatory translator note: this promise is granted freely, immediately, on the basis of simple trust, not accumulated devotion. Retain traditional punctuation (‘Truly, I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise’) — never the comma-shifted Jehovah’s Witness rendering that denies immediate conscious presence with Christ.
Ascension
Approved rendering: স্বৰ্গআৰোহণ
Transliteration: xôrgo-arohôn
Doctrine: Ascension of Christ
Original: ἀνελήμφθη
Category: Christology
New Luke-specific term. Luke 24:51. Mandatory note distinguishing this once-for-all, bodily, historical ascension from a Puranic avatar’s periodic withdrawal/return to Vaikuntha pending future re-descent; confirms a completed, non-cyclical incarnation. Retain the ascension clause per the Majority Text tradition underlying ABS editions; do not adopt any rendering that quietly omits or hedges it.
High Risk Terms

Approved rendering: সুসমাচাৰ
Transliteration: xusomacar
Doctrine: Gospel
Rejected alternatives: ভাল খবৰ, শুভবাৰ্তা
Inherited from Romans package (unchanged). Established Assamese Bible Society (ABS) term. In Luke this is the technical term underlying εὐαγγελίζομαι at the core passage (4:18, ‘proclaim good news to the poor’) and the mission refrain throughout (4:43, 8:1, 9:2, 16:16, 20:1).

Transliteration: biswax
Doctrine: Faith
Rejected alternatives: শ্ৰদ্ধা, ভক্তি
Original: πίστις / πιστεύω

The recurring formulaic phrase ‘your faith has saved/healed you’ (7:50, 8:48, 17:19, 18:42) is a mandatory cross-document consistency flag and must render identically everywhere.

Inherited from Romans package (unchanged). Luke occurrences: 1:27, 1:32, and the genealogy 3:23-38. See new son_of_david entry for the distinct ‘Son of David’ Messianic-acclamation title used at 18:38-39 and 20:41-44.

Doctrine: The Spirit’s Empowerment of the Messiah
Original: χρίω (ἔχρισέν)
Category: Christology
New Luke-specific term. Core passage, Luke 4:18. Structurally similar to Hindu/Vaishnavite deity-consecration and Satradhikar installation rites; must be framed as a unique, once-for-all Messianic commissioning by the Spirit, never a repeatable ritual consecration.
Liberty Release
Approved rendering: মুকলি / মুকলিকৰণ
Transliteration: mukoli / mukolikoron
Doctrine: Jubilee Liberty and Release
Rejected alternatives: মুক্তি (ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN)
Original: ἄφεσις (of αἰχμάλωτος)
Category: Salvation
New Luke-specific term. Core passage, Luke 4:18. Ordinary Assamese register word for ‘open/free/released,’ deliberately distinct in spelling and register from the doctrinally forbidden মুক্তি (reincarnation-release). Jubilee-pattern physical/social release pointing toward, but not identical with, পৰিত্ৰাণ. Automatic QA flag required if মুক্তি appears within three words of captivity/release/liberty vocabulary.
Acceptable Year Of The Lord
Approved rendering: প্ৰভুৰ অনুগ্ৰহৰ বছৰ
Transliteration: prôbhur anugrôhôr bôsôr
Doctrine: Jubilee Liberty and Release
Original: ἐνιαυτὸν Κυρίου δεκτόν
Category: Salvation
New Luke-specific term. Core passage, Luke 4:19, alluding to the Levitical Jubilee (Lev 25). Deliberately built on baseline অনুগ্ৰহ. No Assamese cultural parallel exists; mandatory explanatory note required. Must not be conflated with an ordinary calendrical renewal festival such as Rongali Bihu.

Repentance
Approved rendering: মন-পালটন
Transliteration: mon-paltôn
Doctrine: Repentance
Rejected alternatives: প্ৰায়শ্চিত্ত (Hindu ritual/ascetic merit-earning expiation, FORBIDDEN)
Original: μετάνοια
Category: Sin
New Luke-specific term. Luke 3:3, 3:8, 5:32, 13:3-5, 15:7-10, 24:47. Conveys relational, God-ward reorientation, not ritual/ascetic self-punishment that earns forgiveness.
Forgiveness Of Sins
Approved rendering: পাপ ক্ষমা
Transliteration: pap kshôma
Doctrine: Forgiveness of Sins
Original: ἄφεσις ἁμαρτιῶν
Category: Sin
New Luke-specific term. Luke 1:77, 3:3, 5:20-24, 7:47-49, 11:4, 17:3-4, 23:34, 24:47. Shares the same Greek root (ἄφεσις) as liberty_release (4:18); keep the two Assamese renderings (ক্ষমা vs মুকলি) lexically distinct to avoid collateral collision with the forbidden মুক্তি.
Sinners
Approved rendering: পাপী
Transliteration: papi
Doctrine: Table Fellowship with Sinners
Original: ἁμαρτωλός
Category: Sin
New Luke-specific term, built on baseline পাপ. Luke 5:8, 5:30-32, 7:34, 7:37-39, 15:1-2, 15:7-10, 18:13, 19:7. Directly confronts caste/purity-based social exclusion.

Widely shared register with Hindu puja; mandatory note that biblical prayer is direct, personal, unmediated address to ঈশ্বৰ, distinct from the baseline intercession (মধ্যস্থতা), which names mediated petition through Christ specifically.
Most High
Approved rendering: সৰ্বোপৰি ঈশ্বৰ
Transliteration: sôrbopôri Iswôr
Doctrine: Prayer and Dependence on God
Rejected alternatives: পৰমেশ্বৰ
Original: Ὕψιστος
Category: God
New Luke-specific term. Luke 1:32, 1:35, 1:76, 6:35, 8:28. Always append ঈশ্বৰ; never a bare floating honorific that could apply to a Hindu ista-devata.

Transliteration: Iswôror rajyo tomalokor majhôt ase / ocor
Doctrine: The Kingdom of God Present
Rejected alternatives: তোমালোকৰ অন্তৰত (recorded as alternatives_considered, not adopted)
Original: ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ ἐντὸς/ἐγγύς
Category: Kingdom
New Luke-specific term. Luke 17:20-21 (genuinely ambiguous ἐντός/ἐγγύς) and 21:31 (future ‘near’). Prefer the corporate ‘among/in the midst of you’ reading as primary per the ambiguity protocol; record ‘within you’ as alternatives_considered and escalate every occurrence to theologian review, since an individualist reading risks conflation with paramatma-within-the-self motifs.
Disciple
Approved rendering: শিষ্য
Transliteration: xissyô
Doctrine: The Cost of Discipleship
Original: μαθητής
Category: Church
New Luke-specific term. Throughout Luke 5-24. Necessary established Assamese Bible term, but collides directly with the guru-śiṣya relationship of Ekasarana Dharma/Satra tradition, including formal naam-initiation under a Satradhikar. Mandatory note at first sustained occurrence (5:1-11): a disciple of Jesus follows in trust and obedience in response to his sovereign call, not through ritual guru-lineage initiation.
Cross
Approved rendering: ক্ৰুচ
Transliteration: krus
Doctrine: The Cost of Discipleship
Original: σταυρός
Category: Christology
New Luke-specific term (transliterated). Luke 9:23, 14:27, 23:26. Must retain specific reference to Jesus’ own crucifixion instrument; never a generic hardship-metaphor.

Transliteration: nijôke oswikar kôra
Doctrine: The Cost of Discipleship
Original: ἀπαρνέομαι ἑαυτόν
Category: Church
New Luke-specific term. Luke 9:23. Radical self-renunciation and daily identification with Jesus’ own suffering path; must not be softened into general self-improvement or ascetic technique (contrast Satra bhakat renunciation practice).
Hate Father Mother Idiom
Approved rendering: (dynamic rendering required; not a literal ঘিণাই কৰা)
Transliteration: —
Doctrine: The Cost of Discipleship
Rejected alternatives: ঘিণাই কৰা (literal, MISLEADING)
Original: μισεῖ τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα
Category: Church
New Luke-specific term. Luke 14:26. Semitic idiom of relative priority (‘love less by comparison’), not literal hatred. A literal Assamese rendering risks being misheard as an actual command to family hatred, with real pastoral consequences in Assamese kinship-honor culture; mandatory dynamic-equivalence handling plus explanatory translator note, never a literal-hatred phrasing softened into a vague ‘love less’ either.
Compassion
Approved rendering: মৰম লগা / কৃপা কৰা
Transliteration: môrom lôga / kripa kôra
Doctrine: Jesus’ Compassion
Original: σπλαγχνίζομαι
Category: God
New Luke-specific term. Luke 7:13, 10:33, 15:20. Compassion moves first and is unconditioned by the recipient’s merit or devotion, distinct from a bhakti deity’s karuna typically granted in response to prior worship.
Neighbor
Approved rendering: চুবুৰীয়া
Transliteration: chuburia
Doctrine: Unity Across Jew, Samaritan, and Gentile Boundaries
Original: πλησίον
Category: Church
New Luke-specific term. Luke 10:27-37, the Good Samaritan parable. Parallels the baseline unity_of_jews_and_gentiles risk profile; mandatory note connecting the Samaritan-Jew tension to Assam’s own caste and ethnic-community divisions, since the parable’s force depends on crossing exactly such a boundary.
Synagogue
Approved rendering: সমাজ-গৃহ
Transliteration: xômaj-griho
Doctrine: Fulfillment of Prophecy
Rejected alternatives: নামঘৰ (FORBIDDEN)
Original: συναγωγή
