Critical Risk Terms
Salvation
Approved rendering: Xilas
Transliteration: khee-LAHS
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: nicat (Imamate-intercession framing), cənnətə girmək (entering paradise)
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:1,15; 2:4; 4:16, and underlies the Critical ‘saved through childbearing’ entry at 2:15 (see new term below). Never a deferred, merit-based outcome.
Incarnation
Approved rendering: Bədən alma
Transliteration: bah-DAN ahl-MAH
Doctrine: Incarnation
Rejected alternatives: Allahın insan qiyafəsinə girməsi (disguise)
Original: ἐφανερώθη ἐν σαρκί (1 Tim 3:16)
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package. Directly anchored textually at 1 Timothy 3:16’s opening clause of the Christ-hymn (‘he was manifested in the flesh’ / bədəndə zahir oldu). Reuse exactly.
Intercession
Approved rendering: Vasitəçilik
Transliteration: vah-see-tah-chee-LEEK
Doctrine: Prayer and Intercession
Rejected alternatives: şəfaət (Shia Imam intercession), təvəssül (saint-mediated access)
Original: ἔντευξις / ὑπερεντυγχάνει
Category: Faith
Inherited from Romans package. Reserved STRICTLY for Christ’s/the Spirit’s unique mediatorial and intercessory role. In 1 Timothy 2:1, the same Greek word-family (ἔντευξις) describes ORDINARY believers’ petitionary prayer and must instead use the new term ‘petition’ (Xahiş) below, never this term, so that every believer’s prayer for others is not equated with Christ’s unique role sharply distinguished at 2:5.
Jesus
Approved rendering: İsa
Transliteration: ee-SAH
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: bare ‘İsa Peyğəmbər’ (Prophet Jesus, without Məsih)
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package. Always paired with Məsih (İsa Məsih) in doctrinally significant contexts throughout 1 Timothy (1:1,2,12,15,16; 2:5; 6:13,14). Never bare.
God
Approved rendering: Allah
Transliteration: ahl-LAHKH
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: Tanrı (Turkish convention)
Original: θεός
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. Reuse exactly throughout, including the greeting (1:1-2) and doxologies (1:17; 6:15-16).
Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: Müqəddəs Ruh
Transliteration: myoo-kad-DASS ROOKH
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: Cəbrail (archangel Gabriel)
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. Named in the Christ-hymn (3:16) and the prophecy of apostasy (4:1). Never equate with Cəbrail.
Father
Approved rendering: Ata
Transliteration: ah-TAH

Messiah
Approved rendering: Məsih
Transliteration: mah-SEEKH
Doctrine: Messianic Promise
Rejected alternatives: sadəcə bir peyğəmbər (merely a prophet)

Transliteration: vah-see-ta-CHEE
Doctrine: Christ as the One Mediator
Rejected alternatives: şəfaət (Shia Imamate intercession), təvəssül (saint-mediated access)
Original: μεσίτης
Category: Christ as the One Mediator
New term (μεσίτης, 2:5). Built on the same root as the baseline’s Vasitəçilik. The single sharpest, most explicit confrontation with Shia şəfaət/təvəssül doctrine in the entire curriculum. ‘Bir vasitəçi’ (one mediator) must NEVER be softened toward ‘a mediator’ among several. Flag every occurrence for mandatory human theologian review.
Saved Through Childbearing
Approved rendering: Uşaq doğması vasitəsilə xilas olacaq
Transliteration: oo-SHAHK dogh-mah-SUH vah-see-ta-see-LA khee-LAHS oh-lah-JAHK
Doctrine: Public Worship and Prayer
Original: σωθήσεται διὰ τῆς τεκνογονίας
Category: Salvation
New term (σωθήσεται διὰ τῆς τεκνογονίας, 2:15). The letter’s most theologically difficult single clause. A wooden literal rendering risks appearing to teach that Xilas is earned by a performed work, directly contradicting the baseline’s Critical grace-alone guard. Must remain as literal/non-committal as the Greek; resolve interpretive options only in teaching material, never inside the translation itself. Mandatory human theologian review at every occurrence.
Vindicated In The Spirit
Approved rendering: Ruhda təsdiqləndi
Transliteration: rookh-DAH tas-deek-lan-DEE
Doctrine: Incarnation and the Christ-Hymn
Rejected alternatives: Ruhda saleh sayıldı (FORBIDDEN — wrongly implies Christ needed sinner’s justification)
Original: ἐδικαιώθη ἐν πνεύματι
Category: Christology
New term (ἐδικαιώθη ἐν πνεύματι, 3:16). Shares the same Greek root as the baseline’s Critical ‘justification’ term (Saleh sayılma) but MUST receive a DIFFERENT Azerbaijani rendering: applied to the sinless Christ, δικαιόω means ‘vindicated/shown to be in the right,’ not ‘declared righteous from sin.’ Mandatory divergence rule; flag every occurrence for human theologian review.
King Of Kings Lord Of Lords
Approved rendering: Padşahların Padşahı və rəblərin Rəbbi
Transliteration: pahd-shah-lah-RUHN pahd-shah-HUH va rab-la-REEN rab-BEE
Doctrine: Christ as the One Mediator
Rejected alternatives: böyük hökmdar (softened honorific, loses theological weight)
Original: ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν βασιλευόντων καὶ κύριος τῶν κυριευόντων
Category: Christology
New term (6:15). Must retain Rəbb (never Ağa) in both the singular title and the plural genitive ‘of lords,’ preserving the baseline’s Critical guard on exclusive, supreme Lordship. Never soften to a generic honorific.
High Risk Terms
Gospel
Approved rendering: Müjdə
Transliteration: myuzh-DAH
Doctrine: Gospel
Rejected alternatives: İncil (bare, unqualified), yaxşı xəbər (generic good news)
Original: εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. Used at 1 Timothy 1:11 (‘the glorious gospel of the blessed God’). Reuse exactly.
Grace
Approved rendering: Lütf
Transliteration: LYUTF
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: mərhəmət (mercy), kərəm (Persian-influenced ‘divine generosity’)

Transliteration: ee-MAHN
Doctrine: Faith

Original: πίστις

New term (ἄνθρωπος Χριστὸς Ἰησοῦς, 2:5). Affirms Christ’s full, real humanity as integral to his mediatorial qualification. Overlaps with Islamic affirmation of Jesus’ full humanity (a genuine point of convergence) but must not let that shared ground obscure the verse’s simultaneous claim to unique mediatorial sufficiency.
Ransom
Approved rendering: Fidyə
Transliteration: feed-YAH
Doctrine: Christ as the One Mediator
Rejected alternatives: kəffarə (Islamic jurisprudential expiation term)
Original: ἀντίλυτρον
Category: Christ as the One Mediator
New term (ἀντίλυτρον, 2:6). Retained as the natural Azerbaijani word, but active Islamic legal-devotional vocabulary (missed-fast compensation; Qur’anic ransom narrative) risks assimilating Christ’s once-for-all substitutionary payment into a repeatable ritual-compensation category. Mandatory teaching note on every occurrence distinguishing this from fidyə/kəffarə categories.
Exercise Authority
Approved rendering: Hökmranlıq etmək
Transliteration: hukm-rahn-LUHK et-MAKH
Doctrine: Public Worship and Prayer
Original: αὐθεντέω
Category: Worship and Prayer
New term (αὐθεντέω, 2:12). Exegetically disputed (ordinary teaching-authority vs. domineering usurpation) AND culturally primed to be read as simple confirmation of existing patriarchal norms. Requires BOTH human theologian AND native speaker review.
Husband Of One Wife
Approved rendering: Bir qadının əri
Transliteration: beer gah-duh-NUHN a-REE
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Original: μιᾶς γυναικὸς ἄνδρα
Category: Church Leadership
New term (μιᾶς γυναικὸς ἄνδρα, 3:2; 3:12). A literal rendering risks being read merely as ‘married’ rather than the intended monogamy/marital-fidelity qualification, directly relevant given informal or religiously-sanctioned polygamous unions in some Azerbaijani communities despite the monogamous civil code. Requires explicit teaching-note framing. Flag for human theologian review.
Mystery Of The Faith
Approved rendering: İmanın sirri
Transliteration: ee-mah-NUHN seer-REE
Doctrine: Guarding the Deposit of Faith
Original: μυστήριον τῆς πίστεως
Category: Guarding the Deposit of Faith
New term (μυστήριον τῆς πίστεως, 3:9). Must not suggest occult secret knowledge nor be conflated with Sufi bâtin (esoteric inner-circle knowledge). This is revealed truth for all believers. Flag for human theologian review on first occurrence per lesson.
Women Wives Disputed
Approved rendering: Qadınlar
Transliteration: gah-duhn-LAHR
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Rejected alternatives: arvadları (wives-only, forecloses one reading), qadın xidmətçilər (women deacons, forecloses the other reading)
Original: γυναῖκας
Category: Church Leadership
New term (γυναῖκας, 3:11). A genuinely disputed exegetical question (deacons’ wives vs. women deacons) with real ecclesiological consequences. Preserve the same ambiguity present in the Greek. Flag for human theologian review; log alternatives_considered in the segment cache.
Mystery Of Godliness
Approved rendering: Allaha sadiqliyin sirri
Transliteration: ahl-lah-HAH sah-deek-lee-YEEN seer-REE
Doctrine: Godliness and Contentment
Original: τὸ τῆς εὐσεβείας μυστήριον
Category: Godliness
New term (τὸ τῆς εὐσεβείας μυστήριον, 3:16). Introduces the Christ-hymn; the ‘mystery’ grounding godly living is the concrete person and work of Christ, not an abstract principle.
Doctrines Of Demons
Approved rendering: Cinlərin təlimləri
Transliteration: jeen-la-REEN ta-leem-la-REE
Doctrine: Sound Doctrine versus False Teaching
Original: διδασκαλίαι δαιμονίων
Category: Sound Doctrine
New term (διδασκαλίαι δαιμονίων, 4:1). ‘Cin’ (jinn) is an active category in Azerbaijani folk-Islamic cosmology; readers may map this onto jinn-possession/exorcism folklore rather than Paul’s point about demonically-originated FALSE DOCTRINAL CONTENT specifically.
The Deposit
Approved rendering: Əmanət
Transliteration: a-mah-NAT
Doctrine: Guarding the Deposit of Faith
Original: παραθήκη
Category: Guarding the Deposit of Faith
New term (παραθήκη, 6:20). Natural, standard Azerbaijani word for an entrusted trust, but risks conflation with venerated relics (‘əmanətlər’) linked to the Prophet or Shia holy figures at shrine sites. Mandatory teaching note at first occurrence clarifying this is apostolic doctrinal CONTENT, never a physical relic. Flag for human theologian review.
Medium Risk Terms
Apostle
Approved rendering: Həvari
Transliteration: heh-vah-REE
Doctrine: Apostleship
Rejected alternatives: peyğəmbər (prophet-messenger), imam (Shia infallible successor sense)
Original: ἀπόστολος
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans package. Names Paul’s own office at 1 Timothy 1:1 and 2:7. Guard against Shia Imamate-succession associations.
Spiritual Gifts
Approved rendering: Ruhani hədiyyələr
Transliteration: roo-hah-NEE hah-dee-YAY-lair
Doctrine: Spiritual Gifts
Rejected alternatives: kəramət (saint/Imam miraculous endowment)
Original: χάρισμα
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1 Timothy 4:14, the gift received through the laying on of hands. Never kəramət.
Church
Approved rendering: Kilsə
Transliteration: keel-SAY
Doctrine: Church as God’s People
Rejected alternatives: məscid-vari icma (mosque-like community)
Original: ἐκκλησία
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 3:5, 3:15, 5:16. See new term ‘household_of_god’ for the 3:15 family image built on this same referent.
Kingdom Of God
Approved rendering: Allahın Padşahlığı
Transliteration: ahl-lah-HUHN pahd-shah-luh-UH
Doctrine: Kingdom Mission
Rejected alternatives: Allahın dövləti (God’s state/nation)
Original: βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ
Category: Kingdom
Inherited from Romans package. Background to the King-imagery of 6:15; see new term ‘king_of_kings_lord_of_lords’.
Gentiles
Approved rendering: Millətlər
Transliteration: mil-lat-LAIR
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
Rejected alternatives: kafirlər (unbelievers/infidels), bütpərəstlər (idolaters)
Original: ἔθνη
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 2:7 and in the Christ-hymn at 3:16 (‘proclaimed among the nations’).

Approved rendering: Bu söz etibarlıdır
Transliteration: boo suhz eh-tee-bahr-LUH-duhr
Doctrine: Sound Doctrine versus False Teaching
Rejected alternatives: məsəl (folk proverb)
Original: πιστὸς ὁ λόγος
Category: Sound Doctrine
New term. A formulaic device marking a settled, authoritative apostolic maxim (1:15; 3:1; 4:9). Reuse İman-root vocabulary (etibarlı); render identically at every occurrence.
Myths And Genealogies
Approved rendering: Əfsanələr və sonu olmayan nəsil şəcərələri
Transliteration: af-sah-na-LAIR va so-NOO ol-mah-YAHN na-SEEL sha-ja-ra-la-REE
Doctrine: Sound Doctrine versus False Teaching
Original: μῦθοι καὶ γενεαλογίαι ἀπέραντοι
Category: Sound Doctrine
New term (1:4). Low-collision descriptive phrase; ensure it is not read as dismissing genealogical/historical interest generally.
Mercy
Approved rendering: Mərhəmət
Transliteration: mar-ha-MAT
Doctrine: Grace and Mercy Distinguished
Original: ἔλεος / ἐλεέω
Category: Salvation
New headword (ἔλεος/ἐλεέω, 1:2,13,16). Previously registered in the Romans baseline only as a REJECTED alternative for ‘grace.’ Now correctly used in its own right: mercy withholds deserved punishment; grace (Lütf) grants undeserved favor. Keep the two lexically and conceptually distinct.
Handed Over To Satan
Approved rendering: Şeytana təslim etmək
Transliteration: shay-tah-NAH tas-LEEM et-MAKH
Doctrine: Church Discipline
Original: παραδίδωμι τῷ Σατανᾷ
Category: Church Leadership
New term (1:20). Must be taught as formal, restorative removal from church protection/fellowship, not a magical curse formula — a distinction not automatically obvious from the literal phrase.
Petition
Approved rendering: Xahiş
Transliteration: khah-HEESH
Doctrine: Public Worship and Prayer
Original: ἔντευξις
Category: Worship and Prayer
New term (ἔντευξις, 2:1). Ordinary believers’ petitionary prayer for others (including rulers, 2:2), deliberately DISTINCT from Vasitəçilik (Christ’s/the Spirit’s unique intercession), so daily intercessory prayer is not conflated with the rival mediator role sharply rejected at 2:5.
Herald
Approved rendering: Carçı
Transliteration: jar-CHUH
Doctrine: Public Worship and Prayer
Rejected alternatives: təbliğçi (legally sensitive proselytizing term, forbidden per baseline)
Original: κῆρυξ
Category: Worship and Prayer
New term (κῆρυξ, 2:7, Paul’s own role). Carçı is a neutral, non-loaded Azerbaijani word for a public announcer, avoiding the regulated-activity connotation of təbliğçi.
Modesty
Approved rendering: Həya
Transliteration: ha-YAH
Doctrine: Public Worship and Prayer
Original: αἰδώς
Category: Worship and Prayer
New term (αἰδώς, 2:9). Genuine convergence with Islamic virtue vocabulary (haya); teaching material should clarify this names a broader disposition of humble propriety, not solely contemporary dress-code debate.
Submission
Approved rendering: Tabelik
Transliteration: tah-bay-LEEK
Doctrine: Public Worship and Prayer
Original: ὑποταγή
Category: Worship and Prayer
New term (ὑποταγή, 2:11; also 3:4,12 of household management). Sensitive given strong existing patriarchal household norms; teaching material must frame this as loving order, not a proof-text for domestic or ecclesial authoritarianism.
Overseer
Approved rendering: Nəzarətçi
Transliteration: na-zah-rat-CHEE
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Rejected alternatives: Yepiskop (imports Orthodox/Catholic diocesan-bishop office)
Original: ἐπίσκοπος
Category: Church Leadership
New term (ἐπίσκοπος, 3:1-7). Nəzarətçi is also the ordinary secular word for supervisor/inspector and must be defined on first use as a spiritually qualified local church leader, not a generic supervisor or imported clergy rank.
Office Of Overseer
Approved rendering: Nəzarətçilik
Transliteration: na-zah-rat-chee-LEEK
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Original: ἐπισκοπή
Category: Church Leadership
New term (ἐπισκοπή, 3:1). The defined congregational office/function itself, not a generic supervisory job.
Above Reproach
Approved rendering: Nöqsansız
Transliteration: nukh-sahn-SUHZ
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Rejected alternatives: irad tutula bilməyən (alternate phrasing)
Original: ἀνεπίλημπτος
Category: Church Leadership
New term (ἀνεπίλημπτος, 3:2; cf. ἀνέγκλητος 3:10). Must not be conflated with sinlessness, which would collide with the baseline’s universal-accountability doctrine (‘all have sinned’).
Able To Teach
Approved rendering: Təlim verməyə qadir
Transliteration: ta-LEEM ver-ma-YA gah-DEER
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Original: διδακτικός
Category: Church Leadership
New term (διδακτικός, 3:2). Must connect clearly to Sağlam təlim (sound doctrine) so readers see this as doctrinal competence, not general public-speaking skill.
Not A Lover Of Money
Approved rendering: Pulasevməyən
Transliteration: poo-lah-sev-ma-YAN
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Original: ἀφιλάργυρος
Category: Church Leadership
New term (ἀφιλάργυρος, 3:3). Shares the pul- (money) root with the new term ‘love_of_money’ (6:10) for thematic coherence across the book.
Manage Household
Approved rendering: İdarə etmək
Transliteration: ee-dah-RA et-MAKH
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Original: προΐστημι
Category: Church Leadership
New term (προΐστημι, 3:4-5,12; cf. 5:17 of elders). The household-as-training-ground-for-church-leadership logic must be preserved explicitly in teaching notes; the analogical leap from household to church is a Pauline argument, not a lexical given.
Recent Convert
Approved rendering: Yeni iman gətirmiş
Transliteration: ye-NEE ee-MAHN ga-teer-MEESH
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Rejected alternatives: neofit (loanword, less accessible at newspaper reading level)
Original: νεόφυτος
Category: Church Leadership
New term (νεόφυτος, 3:6). Descriptive phrase preferred over the loanword for reading-level accessibility, per the baseline’s newspaper-feature reading-level standard.
Good Testimony From Outsiders
Approved rendering: Kənar adamlar arasında yaxşı ad
Transliteration: ka-NAHR ah-dahm-LAHR ah-rah-suhn-DAH yakh-SHUH AHD
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Original: μαρτυρίαν καλὴν ἀπὸ τῶν ἔξωθεν
Category: Church Leadership
New term (3:7). Highly relevant to evangelistic credibility in a Muslim-majority context where leaders’ conduct is closely observed; connects to the baseline’s High-risk Evangelism doctrine.
Deacon
Approved rendering: Xidmətçi
Transliteration: kheed-mat-CHEE
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Rejected alternatives: Dyakon (imports Orthodox liturgical/sacramental clerical rank)
Original: διάκονος
Category: Church Leadership
New term (διάκονος, 3:8-13). Requires first-use definition distinguishing it from generic ‘servant’ (any believer serves) and from the imported liturgical rank.
Greedy For Dishonest Gain
Approved rendering: Haram qazanca həris
Transliteration: hah-RAHM gah-zahn-JAH ha-REES
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Original: αἰσχροκερδής
Category: Church Leadership
New term (αἰσχροκερδής, 3:8). ‘Haram’ is shared with Islamic legal-religious vocabulary; largely positive resonance, but clarify this describes financial dishonesty, not a technical ritual-law violation.
Conscience
Approved rendering: Vicdan
Transliteration: veej-DAHN
Doctrine: Guarding the Deposit of Faith
Original: συνείδησις
Category: Guarding the Deposit of Faith
New term (συνείδησις, 1:5,1:19,3:9,4:2). Standard, doctrinally safe term. ‘Clear conscience’ (καθαρὰ συνείδησις) = ‘təmiz vicdan’ recurs across the letter and must be rendered identically each time.
Good Standing
Approved rendering: Yaxşı mövqe
Transliteration: yakh-SHUH mov-KAY
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Original: βαθμὸς καλός
Category: Church Leadership
New term (βαθμὸς καλός, 3:13). Must not be read as merit earning salvation status, per the baseline’s Critical guard on Salehlik/Saleh sayılma never being earned; this is standing within the church community, not justification before God.
Confidence Boldness
Approved rendering: Cəsarət
Transliteration: ja-sah-RAT
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Rejected alternatives: arxayınlıq (alternate phrasing)
Original: παρρησία
Category: Church Leadership
New term (παρρησία, 3:13). Related to but distinct from the baseline’s Critical Assurance of Salvation doctrine; here it is bold confidence in service and standing in Christ, not final-salvation assurance itself.
Household Of God
Approved rendering: Allahın evi
Transliteration: ahl-lah-HUHN ev-EE
Doctrine: The Church as Pillar of Truth
Original: οἶκος θεοῦ
Category: Church as Pillar of Truth
New term (οἶκος θεοῦ, 3:15). Must be clarified as family/household, not a physical building, avoiding conflation with mosque-building categories or venerated shrine sites (ocaqlar/pirs) already flagged in the baseline for ‘saints.‘
Pillar And Foundation Of Truth
Approved rendering: Həqiqətin sütunu və özülü
Transliteration: ha-gee-ga-TEEN soo-too-NOO va oh-zoo-LOO
Doctrine: The Church as Pillar of Truth
Original: στῦλος καὶ ἑδραίωμα τῆς ἀληθείας
Category: Church as Pillar of Truth
New term (στῦλος καὶ ἑδραίωμα τῆς ἀληθείας, 3:15). Describes the church’s God-given task of bearing/defending revealed truth, not a claim that the church generates or supersedes revelation. Teach alongside Sağlam təlim.
Forbidding Marriage And Foods
Approved rendering: Evlənməyi qadağan etmək, yeməkdən çəkinməyi buyurmaq
Transliteration: ev-lan-ma-YEE gah-dah-GHAHN et-MAKH, ye-mak-DAN cha-keen-ma-YEE boo-yoor-MAKH
Doctrine: Sound Doctrine versus False Teaching
Original: κωλυόντων γαμεῖν, ἀπέχεσθαι βρωμάτων
Category: Sound Doctrine
New term (4:3). Risks being read through halal/haram dietary law or Ramadan-style fasting; clarify Paul targets a false teaching treating marriage/food as inherently defiling, not fasting/dietary discipline as such.
Train For Godliness
Approved rendering: Özünü Allaha sadiqlik üçün məşq etdirmək
Transliteration: oh-zoo-NOO ahl-lah-HAH sah-deek-LEEK ew-CHEWN mashk et-deer-MAKH
Doctrine: Godliness and Contentment
Original: γύμναζε σεαυτὸν πρὸς εὐσέβειαν
Category: Godliness
New term (γύμναζε σεαυτὸν πρὸς εὐσέβειαν, 4:7). Shares the risk profile of Allaha sadiqlik; ensure the athletic-training metaphor is preserved.
Council Of Elders
Approved rendering: Ağsaqqallar şurası
Transliteration: ahg-sahk-kahl-LAHR shoo-rah-SUH
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Original: πρεσβυτέριον
Category: Church Leadership
New term (πρεσβυτέριον, 4:14). Reuses the ‘ağsaqqal’ root; see ‘elder’ entry for cultural resonance risk.
Laying On Of Hands
Approved rendering: Əl qoyma
Transliteration: AL goy-MAH
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Original: ἐπίθεσις τῶν χειρῶν
Category: Church Leadership
New term (ἐπίθεσις τῶν χειρῶν, 4:14; 5:22). No significant Islamic-collision risk, but define as a symbolic commissioning act, not a sacramental transfer of power in itself.
Widow
Approved rendering: Dul qadın
Transliteration: DOOL gah-DUHN
Doctrine: Care for Widows and the Household of Faith
Original: χήρα
Category: Widows and Household of Faith
New term (χήρα, 5:3-16). Genuine positive resonance with Islamic ethical emphasis on widow-care (Qur’anic mentions of orphans and widows).
Real Widow
Approved rendering: Əsl dul
Transliteration: ASL DOOL
Doctrine: Care for Widows and the Household of Faith
Original: ὄντως χήρα
Category: Widows and Household of Faith
New term (ὄντως χήρα, 5:3,5,9-10). A semi-technical pastoral-care category with defined criteria (age, family support, reputation); must be paired with explicit teaching on those criteria, not read merely as an emotional/honorific label.
Elder
Approved rendering: Ağsaqqal
Transliteration: ahg-sahk-KAHL
Doctrine: Qualifications for Church Leadership
Rejected alternatives: Keşiş (Orthodox/Catholic ordained priest, sacerdotal category)
Original: πρεσβύτερος
Category: Church Leadership
New term (πρεσβύτερος, 5:1-2,17,19). Richly resonant, positive Azerbaijani cultural term (respected village/clan elder), but teaching material must clarify the NT office carries specific spiritual qualifications and defined teaching/governing responsibility, distinct from customary tribal-elder authority which expects no such doctrinal accountability. Flag for native speaker review.
Double Honor
Approved rendering: İkiqat hörmət
Transliteration: ee-kee-KAHT hur-MAT
Doctrine: Care for Widows and the Household of Faith
Original: διπλῆ τιμή
Category: Widows and Household of Faith
New term (διπλῆ τιμή, 5:17-18). Teaching material should clarify both the honor/respect sense and the material-support sense (cf. v.18’s ‘the laborer deserves his wages’).
Contentment
Approved rendering: Qənaət
Transliteration: ga-nah-AT
Doctrine: Godliness and Contentment
Original: αὐτάρκεια
Category: Godliness
New term (αὐτάρκεια, 6:6). Standard, well-understood term with no significant doctrinal collision risk, but should be explicitly tied to Allaha sadiqlik in teaching material, matching the verse’s own logic: godliness ACCOMPANIED BY contentment.
Love Of Money
Approved rendering: Pulpərəstlik
Transliteration: pool-pa-rast-LEEK
Doctrine: Godliness and Contentment
Rejected alternatives: pula həris olmaq (softer alternative, loses idolatry resonance)
Original: φιλαργυρία
Category: Godliness
New term (φιλαργυρία, 6:10). Deliberately uses the -pərəst (idol-worshiper) suffix, already flagged in the baseline as bütpərəst vocabulary, to sharpen Paul’s point that love of money functions as idolatry. Do not soften.
Eternal Life
Approved rendering: Əbədi həyat
Transliteration: a-ba-DEE ha-YAHT
Doctrine: Godliness and Contentment
Original: ζωὴ αἰώνιος
Category: Godliness
New term (ζωὴ αἰώνιος, 6:12,19). Should connect explicitly to the baseline’s Critical Xilas doctrine — a present-and-future reality secured in Christ, not a deferred Judgment-Day hope.
Good Confession
Approved rendering: Yaxşı iqrar
Transliteration: yakh-SHUH eek-RAHR
Doctrine: Christ as the One Mediator
Original: καλὴ ὁμολογία
Category: Christ as the One Mediator
New term (καλὴ ὁμολογία, 6:12-13). ‘İqrar’ is a standard, low-collision Azerbaijani word used in both religious and legal-civic contexts; the CONTENT of the confession (likely paralleling the Romans 10:9 Lordship confession, İsa Rəbdir) should be made explicit in teaching material.
Immortal
Approved rendering: Ölməz
Transliteration: ul-MAZ
Doctrine: Christ as the One Mediator
Original: ἀθάνατος
Category: God
New term (ἀθάνατος, 1:17; 6:16). Genuine convergence point with Islamic affirmation of God’s eternality; should still be tied to the specifically Trinitarian God of this letter, not left doctrinally generic. See translation-landscape caution regarding anti-Trinitarian excerpting of 6:16 in isolation.
Knowledge Falsely Called
Approved rendering: Yalançı adlanan bilik
Transliteration: yah-lahn-CHUH ahd-lah-NAHN bee-LEEK
Doctrine: Guarding the Deposit of Faith
Original: ψευδώνυμος γνῶσις
Category: Guarding the Deposit of Faith
New term (ψευδώνυμος γνῶσις, 6:20). Should not be rendered as a blanket condemnation of ‘elm’ (knowledge/science) generally; targets a specific historical false-teaching movement, paralleling 1:4 and 4:1.
Low Risk Terms
