Doctrine Analysis
Doctrine Analysis — Ephesians | English → Somali
Purpose
This document is the full-book doctrine matrix required by PRD Phase 1 Step 4. It walks the entirety of Ephesians, chapter by chapter, mapping every doctrine to its supporting passages, risk tier, specific translation risk, and review routing. All doctrine names, risk tiers, and routing decisions are identical to assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json (Ephesians edition) and must never be altered independently of that file. The core passage, Ephesians 2:1-10, is treated as the theological anchor of the curriculum but is not the boundary of analysis — every chapter of the letter is reviewed below, including chapters that primarily repeat or extend doctrines already anchored in the core passage.
Risk tier definitions match the baseline Romans convention and the Ephesians registry exactly:
- Critical — mistranslation destroys essential doctrine; human theologian review mandatory, every occurrence.
- High — mistranslation risks significant theological confusion or syncretism; human theologian review required.
- Medium — mistranslation reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning; native speaker review recommended.
- Low — mistranslation causes minor imprecision; automated review sufficient.
Chapter 1 — Blessing, Election, and the Supremacy of Christ
Coverage confirmation: Reviewed in full (1:1-23). This chapter is the single densest concentration of Critical-tier doctrine in the book.
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages (Ephesians) | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Divine Blessing in Christ | 1:3 | High | ”Blessed” collides with barako, the Sufi sheekh/tomb-transmitted blessing category; must be taught as coming directly from the Father through Christ, no human mediator. | Human theologian |
| Election and Predestination in Christ | 1:4-5, 1:11-12, 1:18 | Critical | Proorizō (“predestined”) intensifies eklogē (“election”) beyond the Romans baseline; sharpest qaddar/nasiib fatalism-collision risk in either curriculum. | Human theologian |
| Adoption into God’s Family | 1:5 | High | Must reinforce full, equal inheritance rights against sheegad’s sometimes-lesser incorporated social status. | Human theologian |
| Redemption in Christ | 1:7, 1:14 | High | Madaxfurasho’s contemporary piracy/hostage-ransom association risks framing atonement as payment to a human captor rather than Christ’s own self-gift. | Human theologian |
| Inheritance in Christ | 1:11, 1:14, 1:18 | High | Dhaxal risks importing codified Islamic mirath gender-differentiated inheritance law onto a guaranteed, equal, non-Sharia inheritance in Christ. | Human theologian |
| Deity and Cosmic Supremacy of Christ | 1:19-23 | Critical | Christ enthroned “far above all rule and authority” directly claims supremacy over the cosmic-power categories Somali folk cosmology assigns to jinn; sharper tawhid collision than Romans alone establishes. | Human theologian |
| The Mystery of Christ Revealed | 1:9 | High | Collides with Sufi asraar (esoteric knowledge reserved for initiates); Paul’s mystery is openly proclaimed to all, the theological opposite. | Human theologian |
| Cosmic Spiritual Powers and the Jinn Collision | 1:21 | Critical | Establishes the cosmic-power vocabulary cluster that recurs at 2:2, 3:10, 6:12; highest collision-risk doctrine in the book. | Human theologian |
| Prayer and Intercession in Spiritual Warfare | 1:16-19 | High | Paul’s own intercessory prayer for the readers must not be read as modeling mediated shafeeco-style intercession. | Human theologian |
| The Gospel and the Inspired Word of God | 1:13 | High | Continuation of baseline tahriif-sensitive Inspiration of Scripture doctrine. | Human theologian |
| Thanksgiving | 1:16 | Low | Standard shared gratitude vocabulary; genuine resonance point. | Automated review |
Chapter 2 — Dead in Sin, Alive by Grace, One New Humanity
Coverage confirmation: Reviewed in full (2:1-22). Verses 1-10 constitute the curriculum’s core passage and theological anchor; verses 11-22 extend the doctrine of unity that this Language Package elevates to Critical.
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages (Ephesians) | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Total Spiritual Deadness Apart from Christ | 2:1-3 | High | Fitrah anthropology (humans born sinless) resists total spiritual incapacity; “by nature children of wrath” (2:3) is the sharpest universal-sinfulness formulation in either curriculum. | Human theologian |
| The Wrath of God | 2:3 (also 5:6) | High | Must be settled judicial response, not capricious anger or a qaddar-linked fatalistic idiom; “children of wrath” is an unfamiliar Hebraic destiny-idiom requiring explicit unpacking. | Human theologian |
| Salvation by Grace through Faith | 2:4-10 (core passage) | Critical | Ephesians states the works-exclusion even more explicitly than Romans; Nimco/Badbaado must never collapse into camal wanaagsan as the ground of standing. | Human theologian |
| Grace Contrasted with Works | 2:5, 2:8-10 (core passage) | Critical | The identical Somali phrase camal wanaagsan occupies opposite logical positions in consecutive verses (rejected as ground v.9, affirmed as fruit v.10) — the single most theologically delicate translation decision in the book; mandatory translator note at every occurrence. | Human theologian |
| Assurance of Salvation | 2:1-10, especially 2:6 (core passage) | Critical | Present-tense “seated with him in the heavenly places” is an even more audacious present-assurance claim than Romans 8; “heavenly places” must never render as jannada. | Human theologian |
| Walking in Newness of Life | 2:10 (core passage) | High | ”Workmanship…created for good works” introduces the corporate/individual walk-metaphor that governs the rest of the letter. | Human theologian |
| Unity of Jews and Gentiles in One New Humanity | 2:11-22 | Critical | Elevated to Critical: this is the most extended NT treatment of the doctrine; qabiil (clan), not abstract ethnicity, is the fault line Somali readers will map it onto; “dividing wall” and “one new man” must be applied explicitly to clan hierarchy in teaching. | Human theologian |
| Reconciliation through the Cross | 2:13-18 | High | Heshiis/xeer evokes renewable, negotiated clan truce; Paul’s reconciliation is a once-for-all accomplished fact secured by the cross. | Human theologian |
| The Church as God’s Temple and Household | 2:19-22 | Medium | Must clarify “temple” is the corporate church, not a physical building, against masjid as readers’ dominant religious-architecture reference point. | Native speaker review |
| Direct, Unmediated Access to God | 2:18 | High | Lands on the same contested ground as the baseline’s shafeeco/intercession entry; must be taught on its own terms. | Human theologian |
| Cosmic Spiritual Powers and the Jinn Collision | 2:2 (“prince of the power of the air”) | Critical | Continues the ch.1 cosmic-power cluster in the context of the readers’ former unregenerate state. | Human theologian |
Chapter 3 — The Mystery Made Known, Prayer for the Church
Coverage confirmation: Reviewed in full (3:1-21).
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages (Ephesians) | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Mystery of Christ Revealed | 3:3-9 | High | Continues the asraar-collision teaching begun at 1:9; the mystery is Gentile inclusion, now openly proclaimed. | Human theologian |
| Unity of Jews and Gentiles in One New Humanity | 3:6 (“fellow heirs, members of the same body, partakers of the promise”) | Critical | Restates the ch.2 unity claim in explicitly inheritance-bearing terms. | Human theologian |
| Inheritance in Christ | 3:6 | High | ”Fellow heirs” reinforces the dhaxal/mirath sensitivity already flagged in ch.1. | Human theologian |
| Direct, Unmediated Access to God | 3:12 | High | ”Boldness and access” restates the ch.2 direct-access doctrine. | Human theologian |
| Cosmic Spiritual Powers and the Jinn Collision | 3:10 | Critical | The church’s very existence is said to make God’s wisdom known “to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places” — same cosmic-power vocabulary cluster. | Human theologian |
| Prayer and Intercession in Spiritual Warfare | 3:14-19 | High | Paul’s prayer for the readers’ inner strengthening, continuing the ch.1 intercession-neutrality requirement. | Human theologian |
| Deity and Cosmic Supremacy of Christ | 3:8 (unsearchable riches of Christ), 3:19 (fullness of Christ) | Critical | Reinforces Christ’s supremacy language established in 1:19-23. | Human theologian |
Chapter 4 — One Body, Gifted Ministries, New-Self Living
Coverage confirmation: Reviewed in full (4:1-32).
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages (Ephesians) | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unity of the Spirit in the Church | 4:1-6 | Medium | Midnimo carries positive Somali nationalistic-unity resonance that must be redirected specifically to Spirit-given, clan-line-crossing unity. | Native speaker review |
| Deity and Cosmic Supremacy of Christ | 4:5, 4:13, 4:15 | Critical | ”One Lord,” maturity measured by “the fullness of Christ,” and Christ as organic head of growth all restate co-equal deity claims. | Human theologian |
| The Church as the Body of Christ | 4:12, 4:15-16 | High | Jidhka Masiixa (corporate-church metaphor) must not be confused with Jidh qaadasho (Christ’s own incarnate body, baseline Critical term). | Human theologian |
| Gifts for Building Up the Church | 4:7-13 | Medium | Karaamad (Sufi miraculous personal endowment) must be excluded as a substitute concept for the gifting doctrine broadly. | Native speaker review |
| Evangelism and the Evangelist Office | 4:11 | Critical | Naming “evangelist” as a distinct office raises the same acute, sometimes lethal, physical-safety exposure of open evangelism flagged in the Romans baseline. | Human theologian |
| Walking in Newness of Life | 4:1, 4:17-24 | High | The individual “old self / new self” (4:22-24) must be kept terminologically distinct from the corporate “one new man” of 2:15. | Human theologian |
| Sanctification and the Spirit’s Personal Indwelling | 4:30 (“grieve the Holy Spirit”) | High | Reinforces the personal, not impersonal, nature of the Spirit against Jibriil-substitution risk from the baseline. | Human theologian |
| Spiritual Warfare and the Devil | 4:27 (“give no opportunity to the devil”) | High | Shares vocabulary with Islamic Iblis; same real personal adversary, resolution redirected to Christ’s finished work, not recitation-based repelling. | Human theologian |
Chapter 5 — Imitating God, Light and Darkness, Marriage as Mystery
Coverage confirmation: Reviewed in full (5:1-33).
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages (Ephesians) | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Walking in Newness of Life | 5:1-2, 5:8-9, 5:15 | High | ”Children of light” / “fruit of light” imagery must use Iftiin, never Nuur, to avoid the Sufi pre-existent-light-of-Muhammad collision flagged in the baseline glory entry. | Human theologian |
| Sexual Purity and Rejection of Idolatry | 5:3-5 | Medium | Substantial existing moral agreement with Somali Islamic ethics; idolatry is a genuine resonance point (shared shirk condemnation), though “impurity” must stay moral, not merely ritual. | Native speaker review |
| Thanksgiving | 5:4, 5:20 | Low | Standard shared gratitude vocabulary. | Automated review |
| Sanctification and the Spirit’s Personal Indwelling | 5:18 (“be filled with the Spirit”), 5:3, 5:27 | High | ”Filled with the Spirit” lands directly on Somalia’s widespread saar spirit-possession folk practice; must sharply distinguish settled personal indwelling from episodic possession. | Human theologian |
| The Mystery of Christ Revealed | 5:32 (“this mystery is profound… Christ and the church”) | High | Applies the ch.1/3 mystery vocabulary to the marriage-Christ analogy specifically. | Human theologian |
| The Church as the Body of Christ | 5:23, 5:30 | High | Head/body imagery applied to marriage risks Madax (head) flattening into political-chieftaincy-style authority (madaxweyne) rather than organic, life-giving headship. | Human theologian |
| Headship of Christ Applied to Marriage | 5:23 | High | Kephalē’s positive madaxweyne-style authority resonance, combined with existing hierarchical marriage expectations, risks a domination reading unless inseparably paired with 5:25. | Human theologian |
| Household Codes: Marriage | 5:21-33 | High | Real risk that 5:22-24 is taught isolated from 5:21’s mutual-submission frame and 5:25’s self-sacrificial-love requirement. | Human theologian |
Chapter 6 — Household Codes Continued, the Armor of God
Coverage confirmation: Reviewed in full (6:1-24).
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages (Ephesians) | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Household Codes: Parents and Children | 6:1-4 | Low | Strong positive cultural resonance; honoring parents is already a deeply held Somali value. | Automated review |
| Household Codes: Bondservants and Masters | 6:5-9 | High | Addoon carries present-day social stigma sensitivity for certain marginalized minority-lineage groups; requires strict confinement to Paul’s first-century category and strict separation of Sayidka (human master) from Rabbiga (divine Lord). | Human theologian |
| Spiritual Warfare and the Devil | 6:11 (“schemes of the devil”), 6:16 (“flaming darts of the evil one”) | High | Same Iblis-vocabulary redirection requirement as 4:27. | Human theologian |
| Cosmic Spiritual Powers and the Jinn Collision | 6:12 | Critical | The most explicit statement of the cosmic-power cluster (“rulers… authorities… cosmic powers… spiritual forces of evil”); highest-risk doctrine in the book given the established folk-Islamic jinn/xirsi/wadaad-exorcism apparatus. | Human theologian |
| The Armor of God and Spiritual Combat | 6:10-17 | Critical | Somalia’s decades of real armed conflict and extremist martial rhetoric make this the most physically/socially sensitive image-cluster in the letter; must be repeatedly framed as non-literal spiritual equipment. | Human theologian |
| Prayer and Intercession in Spiritual Warfare | 6:18-20 | High | Praying “in the Spirit” must not be conflated with mediated-intercession practices contested in the Sufi/Salafi shafeeco debate. | Human theologian |
| The Gospel and the Inspired Word of God | 6:15, 6:17, 6:19 | High | ”Sword of the Spirit… word of God” requires the same tahriif-reliability teaching support as 1:13. | Human theologian |
Core Passage Deep Dive — Ephesians 2:1-10
This passage is the curriculum’s theological anchor and concentrates the book’s highest-risk doctrinal cluster:
| Doctrine | Verse(s) | Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total Spiritual Deadness Apart from Christ | 2:1-3 | High | Human theologian |
| The Wrath of God | 2:3 | High | Human theologian |
| Salvation by Grace through Faith | 2:4-10 | Critical | Human theologian |
| Grace Contrasted with Works | 2:5, 2:8-10 | Critical | Human theologian |
| Assurance of Salvation | 2:6 | Critical | Human theologian |
| Walking in Newness of Life | 2:10 | High | Human theologian |
Every segment touching Ephesians 2:1-10 must be routed to human theologian review without exception, per the escalation logic inherited from the Romans baseline and sharpened by this registry’s Critical-tier assignments.

Full-book coverage confirmed: all six chapters of Ephesians reviewed, with every doctrine traced to its supporting passages. No chapter was found to contribute zero new terms or doctrines; chapters 2, 4, and 6 each anchor a distinct Critical-tier cluster (grace/works/assurance; deity/evangelist office; jinn-collision/armor of God, respectively), while chapters 1, 3, and 5 primarily establish and then extend those clusters.
Critical Risk Doctrines
Salvation by Grace through Faith
Somali name: Badbaadada iyo Nimcada iyo Iimaanka
Key terms: grace, faith, salvation, works_salvation_ground, good_works_fruit
Review routing: Human theologian
The book’s thesis statement (2:8-9): ‘by grace you have been saved through faith … not a result of works.’ This must never collapse Nimco/Badbaado into camal wanaagsan (good deeds), the works-ledger category central to Islamic judgment theology; Ephesians states this exclusion even more explicitly than Romans does.
Grace Contrasted with Works
Somali name: Nimco oo ka Duwan Shuqullada Camalka
Key terms: grace, works_salvation_ground, good_works_fruit, boast, workmanship
Review routing: Human theologian
Ephesians 2:9-10 places the identical Somali phrase camal wanaagsan in two opposite logical positions within two consecutive verses (rejected as ground in v.9, affirmed as fruit in v.10); this sequential pairing is the single most theologically delicate translation decision in the book and requires a translator note at every occurrence making the v.9-to-v.10 sequence explicit.
Assurance of Salvation
Somali name: Hubaasho Badbaadada
Key terms: salvation, seated_heavenly_places, made_alive_together, resurrection
Review routing: Human theologian
Continuation of the baseline’s Critical Assurance doctrine. Ephesians 2:6’s present-tense ‘seated with him in the heavenly places’ is an even more audaciously present-tense assurance claim than Romans 8; ‘heavenly places’ must never be rendered with jannada, which would relocate the believer’s confidence to a deferred, uncertain Judgment-Day hope rather than a secured present reality.
Election and Predestination in Christ
Somali name: Doorashada iyo Horudoorashada Ilaah ee Masiixa
Key terms: election, predestined, calling, adoption
Review routing: Human theologian
Proorizō (‘predestined’) intensifies the sovereignty claim beyond eklogē (election) alone, creating the sharpest qaddar/nasiib-collision risk in either curriculum. Must consistently use purposive, relational-Father language (horudoorasho), never impersonal fatalistic decree vocabulary.
Deity and Cosmic Supremacy of Christ
Somali name: Ilaahnimada iyo Sarraynta Masiixa
Key terms: son_of_god, lord, resurrection, glory, power_of_god, head_headship
Review routing: Human theologian
Continuation of the baseline’s Critical Deity of Christ doctrine. Ephesians 1:20-23’s description of Christ enthroned ‘far above all rule and authority and power and dominion’ is a direct claim of supremacy over the very cosmic-power categories Somali folk cosmology associates with jinn, sharpening the tawhid collision beyond what Romans alone establishes.
Unity of Jews and Gentiles in One New Humanity
Somali name: Midnimada Yuhuudda iyo Quruumaha ee Bini’aadanka Cusub
Key terms: gentiles, circumcision_uncircumcision, dividing_wall_hostility, one_new_man_corporate, reconciliation, fellow_citizens, household_of_god
Review routing: Human theologian
Elevated to Critical in this curriculum because Ephesians 2 is the single most extended New Testament treatment of this doctrine. Qabiil (clan), not ethnicity in the abstract, is the primary Somali social fault line this teaching will be mapped onto; the ‘dividing wall’ (2:14) and ‘one new man’ (2:15) language must be applied explicitly to clan hierarchy in teaching, not left as an abstract ancient-ethnic reference.
Evangelism and the Evangelist Office
Somali name: Faafinta Injiilka iyo Hawsha Faafiyaha
Key terms: evangelist, gospel
Review routing: Human theologian
Continuation of the baseline’s Critical Evangelism doctrine; naming this as a distinct spiritual gift/office within 4:11 raises the same acute, sometimes lethal, physical-safety risk of open evangelism in parts of Somalia. Route to human theologian review for both translation accuracy and pastoral/physical-safety framing.
Cosmic Spiritual Powers and the Jinn Collision
Somali name: Ciidamada Ruuxa Sharka ah ee Samada
Key terms: cosmic_spiritual_powers, prince_of_power_of_air
Review routing: Human theologian
The single highest-collision-risk doctrine in the book: Somali cosmology holds a near-universal, culturally active belief in jinn as the operative malevolent-spirit category, with an established folk-Islamic apparatus of amulets (xirsi), Qur’anic exorcism recitation, and wadaad-mediated deliverance already available as a competing response framework. Teaching must affirm the reality of organized spiritual conflict while firmly redirecting engagement away from that apparatus toward the armor of God, prayer, and Christ’s cosmic supremacy (1:20-23).
The Armor of God and Spiritual Combat
Somali name: Hubka Ilaah ee Dagaalka Ruuxa
Key terms: armor_of_god, belt_of_truth, breastplate_of_righteousness, shoes_gospel_of_peace, shield_of_faith, helmet_of_salvation, sword_of_spirit_word_of_god
Review routing: Human theologian
Somalia’s decades of real armed conflict and the martial rhetoric of extremist armed groups make this the single most physically and socially sensitive image-cluster in the book; teaching must repeatedly and explicitly frame this as non-literal, spiritual equipment for spiritual struggle, never as endorsement of literal weapons or armed-struggle rhetoric.
High Risk Doctrines
Total Spiritual Deadness Apart from Christ
Somali name: Dhimashada Ruuxi ee Guud
Key terms: dead_spiritual, trespasses, sin, by_nature, wrath_divine
Review routing: Human theologian
Islamic anthropology (fitrah, humans born sinless) resists inherited, total spiritual incapacity; Ephesians 2:3’s ‘by nature children of wrath’ is the sharpest formulation of universal sinfulness in either curriculum and must be taught as a deliberate claim, not softened to ‘sometimes falls short.‘
The Wrath of God
Somali name: Cadhada Ilaah
Key terms: wrath_divine
Review routing: Human theologian
Must be taught as God’s settled judicial response to sin, not capricious anger or a qaddar-linked fatalistic ‘anger of fate’ idiom common in everyday Somali speech; ‘children of wrath’ (2:3) is an unfamiliar Hebraic idiom of essential destiny requiring explicit unpacking.
Adoption into God’s Family
Somali name: Sheegasho Carruurnimo oo Qoyska Ilaah ah
Key terms: adoption
Review routing: Human theologian
Continuation of the baseline’s High adoption doctrine; must again make explicit that believers receive complete, equal inheritance rights, not the sometimes-lesser social status a sheegad clan-incorporation can carry.
Redemption in Christ
Somali name: Madaxfurashada Masiixa
Key terms: redemption, blood_of_christ
Review routing: Human theologian
Madaxfurasho’s contemporary association with hostage-ransom payments, notably in piracy contexts, risks framing Christ’s atonement as a transactional payment to a human captor rather than his own atoning self-gift; requires explicit teaching to redirect the image toward the cross.
Inheritance in Christ
Somali name: Dhaxalka Kirisiyaanka ee Masiixa
Key terms: inheritance, fellow_heirs, sealed_with_spirit
Review routing: Human theologian
Somali inheritance practice is governed by codified Islamic mirath rules with gender-differentiated shares; using dhaxal risks importing that specific legal framework onto the believer’s guaranteed, equal, non-Sharia-governed inheritance in Christ.
The Church as the Body of Christ
Somali name: Kiniisadda oo ah Jidhka Masiixa
Key terms: church, body_of_christ_corporate, head_headship, fullness, building_up_body
Review routing: Human theologian
‘Jidhka Masiixa’ as the corporate-church metaphor must not be confused with Jidh qaadasho, the baseline’s Critical incarnation term for Christ’s own individual incarnate body; and Madax (head) risks flattening Christ’s organic, life-giving headship into a merely political-hierarchical chieftaincy model (cf. madaxweyne).
Headship of Christ Applied to Marriage
Somali name: Madaxnimada Masiixa ee Guurka
Key terms: head_headship, submission
Review routing: Human theologian
Kephalē’s positive madaxweyne-style authority resonance, combined with existing Somali/Islamic hierarchical marriage expectations, risks 5:23 being read as license for domination unless inseparably paired with 5:25’s self-sacrificial-love requirement.
Reconciliation through the Cross
Somali name: Dib-u-heshiisiinta Masiixa
Key terms: reconciliation, blood_of_christ, peace
Review routing: Human theologian
Heshiis evokes Somali clan xeer peace-agreements, which are negotiated and can break down; Paul’s reconciliation is a once-for-all accomplished fact secured through the cross, not a renewable inter-clan truce, and this distinction must be taught explicitly.
The Mystery of Christ Revealed
Somali name: Qarsoodiga Masiixa oo la Muujiyay
Key terms: mystery, stewardship_dispensation, unsearchable_riches, manifold_wisdom
Review routing: Human theologian
Collides with Sufi asraar (esoteric secrets reserved for spiritual initiates); Paul’s mystery is the theological opposite of asraar — a plan once hidden, now openly proclaimed to every believer without restriction or spiritual rank.
Direct, Unmediated Access to God
Somali name: Gelitaanka Xorta ah ee Ilaah
Key terms: boldness_access
Review routing: Human theologian
Direct, unmediated access to the Father through Christ and one Spirit lands on the same contested ground as the baseline’s intercession/shafeeco entry; must be taught on its own terms rather than assumed to side with either the Sufi or Salafi position in that live internal Somali religious debate.
Walking in Newness of Life
Somali name: Socodka Nolosha Cusub
Key terms: walk_conduct, old_self_new_self, renewed_in_mind, children_of_light, fruit_of_light
Review routing: Human theologian
Extends the baseline’s Christian Identity in Christ doctrine; the corporate ‘one new man’ (2:15) and the individual ‘new self’ (4:24) must be kept terminologically distinct so the personal-transformation and clan-unity dimensions of this teaching are not conflated.
Sanctification and the Spirit’s Personal Indwelling
Somali name: Quduusnimada iyo Deggenaanshaha Ruuxa
Key terms: filled_with_spirit, grieve_holy_spirit, holy_saints
Review routing: Human theologian
Ephesians 5:18’s ‘filled with the Spirit’ lands directly on Somalia’s widespread saar spirit-possession folk practice; teaching must sharply distinguish the Spirit’s settled personal indwelling from any saar-type episodic possession framework, reinforcing the baseline’s Critical Holy Spirit doctrine.
Household Codes: Marriage
Somali name: Sharciyada Reerka: Guurka
Key terms: submission, head_headship, christs_love_for_church, one_flesh, washing_of_water_with_word
Review routing: Human theologian
Existing Somali/Islamic hierarchical marriage expectations create real risk that 5:22-24 will be taught in isolation from 5:21’s mutual-submission frame and 5:25’s self-sacrificial-love requirement, producing a domination reading Paul does not intend.
Household Codes: Bondservants and Masters
Somali name: Sharciyada Reerka: Addoommada iyo Sayidyada
Key terms: bondservants, masters_human, repaid_by_lord
Review routing: Human theologian
Addoon carries real, present-day social sensitivity, historically and sometimes still pejoratively applied to certain marginalized minority-lineage groups in Somali society; requires careful pastoral framing confining the term strictly to Paul’s first-century social category. Also requires strict separation of Sayidka (human master) from Rabbiga (the divine Lord).
Spiritual Warfare and the Devil
Somali name: Dagaalka Ruuxa iyo Ibliiska
Key terms: devil, schemes_of_devil, evil_one_flaming_darts
Review routing: Human theologian
Shared vocabulary with the Islamic Iblis; teaching must affirm the same real personal adversary while redirecting resistance toward Christ’s finished work and the armor of God rather than Qur’anic recitation-based repelling formulas.
Prayer and Intercession in Spiritual Warfare
Somali name: Ducada iyo Dhexdhexaadinta ee Dagaalka Ruuxa
Key terms: prayer_supplication, ambassador
Review routing: Human theologian
Continuation of the baseline’s High Prayer and Intercession doctrine; praying ‘in the Spirit’ (6:18) within the armor-of-God unit must not be conflated with any mediated-intercession practice contested in the ongoing Sufi/Salafi shafeeco debate.
The Gospel and the Inspired Word of God
Somali name: Injiilka iyo Ereyga Ilaah ee la Afuufay
Key terms: gospel, sword_of_spirit_word_of_god
Review routing: Human theologian
Continuation of the baseline’s High Inspiration of Scripture doctrine (tahriif corruption concerns); the ‘sword of the Spirit… the word of God’ image (6:17) requires the same explicit reliability-teaching support given the acute local relevance of the tahriif belief.
Divine Blessing in Christ
Somali name: Barakada Ilaah oo ku jirta Masiixa
Key terms: blessed_blessing
Review routing: Human theologian
Same Sufi barako-transmission collision the baseline flags for grace; teaching must make explicit that every spiritual blessing (1:3) comes directly from the Father through Christ, with no human mediator such as a sheekh, tomb, or lineage.
Medium Risk Doctrines
The Church as God’s Temple and Household
Somali name: Kiniisadda oo ah Macbudka iyo Reerka Ilaah
Key terms: cornerstone, temple, dwelling_place_of_god, fellow_citizens
Review routing: Native speaker review
Standard cross-religious architectural imagery with low-medium collision risk, but must clarify the ‘temple’ is the corporate church, not a physical building, given local mosque (masjid) architecture as the dominant religious-building reference point for most readers.
Gifts for Building Up the Church
Somali name: Hadiyadaha Dhisidda Kiniisadda
Key terms: spiritual_gifts, apostle, prophet, pastor_shepherd, teacher, equipping_saints, unity_of_spirit
Review routing: Native speaker review
The broader gifting doctrine carries medium risk once karaamad (a Sufi sheekh’s miraculous personal endowment) is excluded as a substitute concept; the evangelist office within this same list is escalated separately to Critical given its distinct physical-safety exposure.
Unity of the Spirit in the Church
Somali name: Midnimada Ruuxa ee Kiniisadda
Key terms: unity_of_spirit, baptism, calling
Review routing: Native speaker review
Midnimo carries positive nationalistic resonance from Somali unity aspirations, which must be redirected specifically to Spirit-given, clan-line-crossing unity rather than left as a vague nationalistic ideal.
Sexual Purity and Rejection of Idolatry
Somali name: Daahirnimada Jinsiga iyo Diidmada Cibaadada Sanamyada
Key terms: sexual_immorality_impurity, idolatry
Review routing: Native speaker review
Substantial existing moral agreement with Somali Islamic ethics on both counts; idolatry especially is a positive resonance point (shared shirk condemnation) rather than a collision, though ‘impurity’ must be taught as moral, not merely ritual, uncleanness.
Low Risk Doctrines
Household Codes: Parents and Children
Somali name: Sharciyada Reerka: Waalidiinta iyo Carruurta
Key terms: honor_parents, discipline_instruction
Review routing: Automated review
Strong positive cultural resonance; honoring parents is already a deeply held Somali value, a genuine bridge point rather than a doctrinal collision.
Thanksgiving
Somali name: Mahadnaqid
Key terms: thanksgiving
Review routing: Automated review
Standard term shared with everyday gratitude-to-God vocabulary; low doctrinal risk and a genuine point of resonance, consistent with the baseline’s thanksgiving doctrine.
