Getting this book’s vocabulary right is not a stylistic preference — it determines whether Timothy’s charge reads as unique divine revelation or as one more voice inside a familiar, already-occupied religious landscape.

Opportunities

• A genuinely positive precedent exists to lean on: Thomas Stephens’ 1616 Kristapurana already proved that Puranic-resonant, culturally respectful gospel communication is possible in this exact linguistic and cultural space without coercion or compromise — this curriculum’s translator-note strategy (naming a resonance, then correcting it) continues that tradition rather than inventing a new approach from nothing.
• The vice-catalogue/Kali-Yuga resemblance (3:1-9) is a bridge, not just a risk: its surface familiarity to a Hindu-background reader can be used deliberately to open the passage, provided the standing translator note pivots immediately to the linear/cyclical distinction.
• Reusing 24 Romans-baseline terms exactly (सुवार्ता, कृपा, विश्वास, नीतिमत्ता, तारण, पुनरुत्थान, प्रभू, देव, येशू, etc.) means learners moving from a Romans study into 2 Timothy encounter continuous, reinforcing vocabulary rather than a fresh glossary to relearn.
• Getting मोग right now pays forward across the whole pipeline — Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, 2 Corinthians, and Galatians will all inherit this decision, so the investment in confirming it correctly here is a one-time cost with lasting downstream benefit.

Recommended actions

1. Convene theologian review immediately on the three pending coinages — देवनिष्ठा, मोग, पश्चात्ताप — before Phase 2 segment translation of any passage containing 2 Timothy 1:7, 2:22, 2:25, 3:5, 3:10, 3:12, or 4:8 begins.
