Doctrine Analysis
Doctrine Analysis — 2 Peter (English → Polish)
Purpose
This document provides the full doctrine matrix for 2 Peter 1–3, mapping every load-bearing doctrine identified in this curriculum to its supporting passages, risk tier, specific Polish translation risk, and Phase 2 review routing. Doctrine names, risk tiers, and review routing are held identical to assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json — this document is the narrative and chapter-sequenced companion to that machine-readable registry, required by PRD Phase 1 Step 4. Full-book coverage is mandatory: every chapter of 2 Peter is walked in canonical order, and sections that introduce no new doctrinal load are explicitly marked “reviewed — no new doctrinal content” rather than silently omitted.
Risk tier definitions (unchanged from the Romans baseline and the 2 Peter registry):
- Critical — mistranslation destroys or alters essential doctrine; human theologian review required for every occurrence.
- High — mistranslation creates significant theological confusion or syncretism risk; human theologian review required.
- Medium — mistranslation reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning; native speaker review recommended.
- Low — mistranslation causes minor misunderstanding; automated review sufficient.
Full Doctrine Matrix (All 18 Doctrines, Whole-Book Scope)
| # | Doctrine | Supporting Passages (2 Peter) | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Reliability and Inspiration of Scripture | 1:16, 1:19–21, 3:2, 3:15–16 | Critical | The core-passage doctrine. “Pismo” must carry divinely authoritative, written-revelation force distinct from the popular framing of Scripture standing “alongside” Sacred Tradition and Magisterial teaching as jointly authoritative. The proof-text verb pheromenoi (1:21, “prowadzeni/unoszeni przez Ducha Świętego”) must never be flattened into vague human creative inspiration. Denial of mythos origin (1:16) must stay emphatic against casual secular Polish use of “mit” for any religious claim. | Human theologian |
| 2 | Growing in Christian Virtue | 1:3–8, 3:18 | High | Aretē → “cnota” risks conflation with the catechetically prominent Polish Catholic “cnoty” framework (theological/cardinal virtues, Thomistic moral theology). The chain must be taught as Spirit-enabled fruit of grace already given (1:3–4), not an ascetic-effort checklist. Eusebeia → “pobożność” risks narrowing to external devotional practice (nabożeństwa, pielgrzymki) rather than holistic inward God-reverence. | Human theologian |
| 3 | False Teachers and Their Judgment | 2:1–22 | Critical | Hairesis apōleias must be “zgubne nauki,” not a bare “herezje” (Polish “herezja” carries a narrower canon-law meaning that would wrongly exclude undeclared but destructive teaching). “Tartaros” (2:4) must be paraphrased, never transliterated, to avoid importing a pagan cosmology term into the Polish biblical text. False teachers must be framed explicitly as professing insiders. | Human theologian |
| 4 | The Certainty of Christ’s Return | 1:16–18, 3:3–4, 3:9–10, 3:12 | Critical | Parousia must render identically as “przyjście” (with “paruzja” reserved for teaching notes) at every occurrence (1:16; 3:4; 3:12), always literal, future, visible, bodily — never metaphorical presence. Phōsphoros (“morning star,” 1:19) must never be rendered or footnoted as “Lucyfer,” Polish’s proper name for Satan. | Human theologian |
| 5 | The Day of the Lord and Final Judgment | 2:3, 2:9, 3:7, 3:10–13 | Critical | Hēmera Kyriou → “dzień Pański/dzień Pana” reuses the baseline’s Critical “Pan,” anchoring this to the same exclusive Lord confessed in Romans 10:9. Must retain sudden, certain, universal, inescapable force. The renewed creation (3:13) must be taught as definitive, once-for-all re-creation, guarding against cyclical-cosmology readings from New Age/Eastern-influenced popular Polish spirituality. | Human theologian |
| 6 | Patience of God’s Timing | 3:8–9, 3:15 | High | Makrothymia → “cierpliwość Boża” must be taught as purposeful and salvation-oriented, countering the scoffers’ charge of divine failure (3:4, 9) and any fatalistic vernacular reading of delay as impersonal “los” or divine inaction. Tightly bound to the Critical term metanoia. | Human theologian |
| 7 | Divine Nature and Escaping Corruption | 1:3–4 | Critical | The single highest cultural-collision risk in the book. Koinōnoi theias physeōs → “uczestnicy Boskiej natury” must be explicitly distinguished from Orthodox theosis/przebóstwienie, New Age/pantheistic “divine spark” language, and self-divinization claims of some new religious movements in Poland. Moral/relational participation only; Creator-creature distinction absolute. | Human theologian |
| 8 | Deity of Christ | 1:1, 1:17 | Critical | 1:1’s construction (“naszego Boga i Zbawiciela Jezusa Chrystusa”) applies both “God” and “Savior” directly to Jesus (a Titus 2:13-type construction). Must not be softened into two referents by ambiguous Polish punctuation/phrasing; the unified single-referent reading affirming full deity must be preserved. | Human theologian |
| 9 | Sonship of Christ | 1:17–18 | Critical | The Father’s direct voice at the Transfiguration (“Syn mój umiłowany”) confirms Christ’s eternal, unique Sonship, distinct from believers’ adoptive “dzieci Boże” status (Romans baseline). “Umiłowany” must be reserved for this unique declaration, not conflated with general adoptive love language for believers. | Human theologian |
| 10 | Lordship of Christ | 1:2, 1:8, 1:11, 1:16, 2:1, 2:10, 2:20, 3:2, 3:18 | Critical | The repeated formula “our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” reinforces the exclusive, supreme lordship established in the Romans baseline’s “Pan.” 2:1’s additional term despotēs (“Władca”) must stay lexically distinct from “Pan” so its stronger absolute-ownership sense is not lost. | Human theologian |
| 11 | Messianic Promise | 1:1, 1:2, 1:8, 1:11, 1:14, 1:16, 2:20, 3:18 | Critical | ”Chrystus” (Christos) must be explicitly taught as equivalent to the baseline’s Critical “Mesjasz,” since 2 Peter uses Christos overwhelmingly as a proper name rather than an explicit title — risking perception of two unrelated designations rather than one fulfilled promise. | Human theologian |
| 12 | Faith | 1:1, 1:5 | Critical | Reuses the Romans baseline’s Critical caution in full. 1:1’s “faith of equal standing” (“wiara równie cenna”) must not be read through the “Polak-katolik” lens of shared national-Catholic heritage; it affirms equal personal trust in Christ across all generations of genuine believers. | Human theologian |
| 13 | Apostleship | 1:1, 3:2 | Low | ”Apostoł” is unambiguous and consistent across Polish Christian traditions (Romans baseline). Peter’s self-designation “sługa” (doulos) carries minor risk of softening to “hired helper” rather than “one wholly owned by a master,” affecting nuance, not core doctrine. | Automated review |
| 14 | Divine Calling and Election | 1:10 | High | Reuses the Romans baseline’s caution on “powołanie” in full. 1:10’s exhortation to “confirm your calling and election” must be taught as every believer’s salvation-calling, confirmed by the fruit of the virtue chain, not the culturally dominant sense of “powołanie” as a call to priesthood or consecrated religious life. | Human theologian |
| 15 | Grace and Peace | 1:2 | Medium | 1:2 prays grace and peace be “multiplied” through the full knowledge (epignōsis) of God and Jesus our Lord, linking the baseline’s High-risk “łaska” and Medium-risk “pokój” to this letter’s distinctive relational-knowledge vocabulary. The epignōsis connection must not be lost, or the doctrinal logic is obscured. | Native speaker review |
| 16 | Repentance and Salvation | 3:9, 3:15 | Critical | Metanoia must be “nawrócenie,” never “pokuta” without qualification — Polish “pokuta” is strongly tied to the sacrament of Penance/Reconciliation. God’s patience (3:9) aims at inward turning available to every person regardless of sacramental access; collapsing this into ritual-sacramental sense mirrors the collision pattern the Romans baseline documents for “wiara” and “usprawiedliwienie.” | Human theologian |
| 17 | Eternal Kingdom | 1:11 | Medium | Reuses the Romans baseline’s “królestwo Boże” cautions against political, territorial, or nationalist readings. 1:11 ties rich entry into this kingdom to the fruit of the virtue chain, not to national or cultural Catholic heritage. | Native speaker review |
| 18 | Scripture Canon Consciousness | 3:15–16 | Medium | 3:15–16 recognizes Paul’s letters as γραφή/Scripture within Peter’s own lifetime — an early, significant canon-consciousness statement. “Przekręcają” (twist/distort) must retain deliberate misuse of already-recognized apostolic Scripture, not mere misunderstanding, and must connect clearly to the core Scripture-reliability doctrine. | Native speaker review |
Risk summary (matches doctrine_risk_registry.json): Critical = 11, High = 3, Medium = 3, Low = 1. Total requiring theologian review = 14. Total requiring native speaker review = 3. Total automated-only = 1.
Chapter-by-Chapter Coverage Walkthrough
2 Peter 1:1–2 — Salutation
Active doctrines: Apostleship (1), Faith (12), Messianic Promise (11), Deity of Christ (8), Lordship of Christ (10), Grace and Peace (15).
The opening verse is doctrinally dense for its length: Peter’s self-identification as “sługa i apostoł” sets the Apostleship doctrine; “wiara równie cenna” invokes the Critical Faith doctrine with its “Polak-katolik” caution; “naszego Boga i Zbawiciela Jezusa Chrystusa” is the letter’s first and sharpest Deity of Christ flashpoint. Verse 2’s “łaska i pokój” through “poznanie” (epignōsis) of God and Jesus our Lord activates Grace and Peace and reinforces Lordship of Christ.
2 Peter 1:3–4 — Divine Nature and Escaping Corruption
Active doctrine: Divine Nature and Escaping Corruption (7), with Divine Calling language anticipated (“wezwał,” precursor to 1:10’s powołanie).
This is the single highest-risk passage in the book outside the core passage. “Uczestnicy Boskiej natury” requires explicit theologian-reviewed teaching notes at every occurrence distinguishing moral/relational participation from theosis, New Age divine-spark spirituality, and self-divinization.
2 Peter 1:5–11 — Growing in Christian Virtue; Divine Calling and Election; Eternal Kingdom
Active doctrines: Growing in Christian Virtue (2), Divine Calling and Election (14), Eternal Kingdom (17).
The virtue chain (1:5–7) must be anchored back to 1:3–4’s given divine power, not read as a self-improvement ladder. Verse 10’s “powołanie i wybranie” is the direct occurrence of Divine Calling and Election requiring the priesthood/religious-life disambiguation. Verse 11’s “wieczne królestwo” activates Eternal Kingdom.
2 Peter 1:12–15 — Peter’s Approaching Death, the Reminder
Reviewed — no new doctrinal load. This transitional section (Peter’s “namiot,” ciała, and “odejście,” exodos) reuses only previously covered vocabulary (Messianic Promise via “Jezus Chrystus,” Apostleship’s implied authority) at Low/Medium lexical risk already logged in the Core Glossary (08). No new Critical or High doctrine is introduced; flagged for native speaker review of the exodos/departure metaphor only, per the glossary note on its lost Exodus echo.
2 Peter 1:16–18 — The Transfiguration Testimony (Core Passage, Part 1)
Active doctrines: The Certainty of Christ’s Return (4), Sonship of Christ (9), Deity of Christ (8, via “Chwała pełna majestatu”), Lordship of Christ (10).
This is the anchor of the entire curriculum. The denial of “zmyślone mity” (1:16) must stay emphatic; “przyjście” (parousia) must be locked to its literal, bodily, future sense here for consistency with 3:4 and 3:12; the Father’s voice (“Syn mój umiłowany, w którym mam upodobanie”) is the Critical Sonship-of-Christ flashpoint.
2 Peter 1:19–21 — The Prophetic Word Confirmed (Core Passage, Part 2)
Active doctrine: The Reliability and Inspiration of Scripture (1) — the book’s principal doctrinal anchor.
“Słowo prorockie” as “bardziej potwierdzone” than eyewitness experience, the “lampa w ciemnym miejscu” metaphor, “gwiazda poranna” (never “Lucyfer”), and above all pheromenoi (“prowadzeni przez Ducha Świętego,” 1:21) require mandatory theologian review at every occurrence throughout the curriculum, not only here.
2 Peter 2:1–3 — False Teachers Introduced
Active doctrines: False Teachers and Their Judgment (3), The Day of the Lord and Final Judgment (5, via “zguba”), Lordship of Christ (10, via despotēs/“Władca”).
“Zgubne nauki” (not bare “herezje”) and the lexical separation of “Władca” from “Pan” are established here and must hold for the rest of the chapter.
2 Peter 2:4–10a — Historical Judgment Precedents (Angels, Flood, Sodom)
Active doctrine: The Day of the Lord and Final Judgment (5), continuing False Teachers and Their Judgment (3).
“Tartaros” (2:4) must be paraphrased (“wtrącił do ciemności,” never a transliterated pagan place-name); “potop,” “Sodoma i Gomora,” “Noe,” “Lot” are standard proper names requiring only Old Testament background notes, Low risk.
2 Peter 2:10b–22 — Character and Fate of the False Teachers
Active doctrine: False Teachers and Their Judgment (3), continuing through “rozpusta,” “wolność,” “Balaam,” and the closing proverb (dog/vomit, sow/mire).
The freedom/slavery irony (“wolność,” which is really slavery to “zepsucie”) must be preserved as deliberate rhetorical inversion, per the Core Glossary note; this is High/Critical-adjacent lexical risk within the Critical doctrine tier.
2 Peter 3:1–2 — Reminder of Prophetic and Apostolic Words
Active doctrines: The Reliability and Inspiration of Scripture (1), Messianic Promise (11), Apostleship (13).
Peter explicitly pairs Old Testament prophets with apostolic commandment as jointly authoritative — reinforcing, not diluting, the Scripture doctrine established at 1:19–21.
2 Peter 3:3–7 — The Scoffers’ Denial of the Parousia
Active doctrines: The Certainty of Christ’s Return (4), The Day of the Lord and Final Judgment (5).
“Szyderca” (scoffer) and the second locked occurrence of “przyjście” (parousia) require the same theologian-reviewed consistency established at 1:16. The scoffers’ flood-based argument ties directly back to 2:5’s “potop.”
2 Peter 3:8–9 — God’s Patience and the Purpose of Delay
Active doctrines: Patience of God’s Timing (6), Repentance and Salvation (16).
The direct denial “nie zwleka” (is not slow) must pair with the positive “cierpliwość Boża” statement; “nawrócenie” (never unqualified “pokuta”) is the Critical flashpoint of this verse.
2 Peter 3:10–13 — The Day of the Lord’s Cosmic Dissolution and New Creation
Active doctrine: The Day of the Lord and Final Judgment (5), locking the third occurrence of “przyjście”/paruzja-adjacent imagery (“dzień Pański”).
“Nowe niebiosa i nowa ziemia” must be taught as definitive re-creation, not cyclical rebirth, paralleling the baseline’s resurrection caution.
2 Peter 3:14–16 — Paul’s Letters Recognized as Scripture
Active doctrine: Scripture Canon Consciousness (18), continuing Repentance and Salvation (16, via 3:15’s link to God’s patience) and The Reliability and Inspiration of Scripture (1).
“Przekręcają” must retain the sense of deliberate distortion of already-recognized apostolic Scripture.
2 Peter 3:17–18 — Closing Exhortation and Doxology
Active doctrines: Growing in Christian Virtue (2, via “wzrastać w łasce i poznaniu,” the thesis-summary verse requiring identical cross-document rendering), Lordship of Christ (10) and Messianic Promise (11, via the closing “naszego Pana i Zbawiciela, Jezusa Chrystusa,” reprising 1:1’s Deity-of-Christ construction in doxological form).
This verse functions as the book’s closing thesis statement and must be treated with the same cross-document consistency discipline the Romans baseline applies to Romans 1:16–17 and 8:28.
Cross-Document Consistency Requirements Specific to 2 Peter
| Verse | Requirement |
|---|---|
| 2 Peter 1:1 | Identical rendering of “naszego Boga i Zbawiciela Jezusa Chrystusa” across all curriculum documents (Deity of Christ anchor). |
| 2 Peter 1:16, 3:4, 3:12 | Identical rendering of “przyjście” (parousia) across all three occurrences and all documents. |
| 2 Peter 1:19 | ”Gwiazda poranna” locked; “Lucyfer” permanently forbidden. |
| 2 Peter 1:21 | Identical rendering of “prowadzeni przez Ducha Świętego” (pheromenoi) across all documents. |
| 2 Peter 3:9 | Identical rendering of “nawrócenie” (metanoia); “pokuta” forbidden without theologian-approved qualification. |
| 2 Peter 3:18 | Identical rendering of “wzrastać w łasce i poznaniu” as the closing thesis-summary verse. |
This document extends, and must never contradict, the Romans baseline Language Package. All Critical/High doctrines above route to human theologian review per assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json; Medium doctrines route to native speaker review; Low doctrines route to automated review only.
Critical Risk Doctrines
The Reliability and Inspiration of Scripture
Polish name: wiarygodność i natchnienie Pisma Świętego
Key terms: scripture, prophetic_word, carried_along, spoke_from_god, interpretation_origin, myth, twist_distort
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: the curriculum’s core-passage doctrine. ‘Pismo’ must consistently carry divinely authoritative, written-revelation force distinct from the popular Catholic framing of Scripture held ‘alongside’ Sacred Tradition and Magisterial teaching as co-authoritative. The key verb ‘pheromenoi’ (1:21, rendered ‘prowadzeni/unoszeni przez Ducha Świętego’) must never be flattened into a vague notion of creative human inspiration; it is the primary proof-text for the doctrine and requires theologian review at every occurrence. The denial of ‘mythos’ origin (1:16) must stay emphatic given casual secular Polish use of ‘mit’ for any religious claim.
False Teachers and Their Judgment
Polish name: fałszywi nauczyciele i ich sąd
Key terms: false_teacher, false_prophet, destructive_heresy, master_sovereign, destruction_perdition, tartarus_cast, freedom, sensuality
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: ‘hairesis apōleias’ must be rendered ‘zgubne nauki’ rather than a bare ‘herezje,’ since Polish ‘herezja’ carries a narrower canon-law-specific meaning (a formally declared offense under Church juridical process) that would wrongly exclude undeclared but destructive teaching. The mythological loanword ‘Tartaros’ (2:4) must be paraphrased, never transliterated, to avoid importing a pagan cosmology term directly into the Polish biblical text. False teachers must be taught explicitly as professing insiders, a distinction easily lost without framing.
The Certainty of Christ’s Return
Polish name: pewność powrotu Chrystusa
Key terms: parousia, power, scoffer, eyewitnesses, morning_star
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: ‘parousia’ must be rendered consistently as ‘przyjście’ (with ‘paruzja’ reserved for teaching notes) at every occurrence (1:16; 3:4; 3:12), always as a literal, future, visible, bodily return — never a metaphorical spiritual presence. The associated term ‘phōsphoros’ (‘morning star,’ 1:19) must never be rendered or footnoted as ‘Lucyfer,’ which in Polish, as in English, functions as a proper name for Satan derived from an unrelated Isaiah 14:12 mistranslation tradition; this collision would be severe and confusing if not guarded against.
The Day of the Lord and Final Judgment
Polish name: dzień Pański i sąd ostateczny
Key terms: day_of_the_lord, judgment, destruction_perdition, elements, new_heavens_new_earth
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: ‘hēmera Kyriou’ rendered ‘dzień Pański/dzień Pana’ reuses the baseline’s Critical ‘Pan,’ anchoring this to the same exclusive Lord confessed in Romans 10:9. Must retain sudden, certain, universal, inescapable force, not a vague ‘someday.’ The renewed creation (‘nowe niebiosa i nowa ziemia,’ 3:13) must be taught as a definitive, once-for-all re-creation, guarding against cyclical-cosmology readings present in some New Age and Eastern-influenced Polish popular spirituality.
Divine Nature and Escaping Corruption
Polish name: Boska natura i wyzwolenie od zepsucia
Key terms: divine_nature, divine_power, corruption, lust_desire, promise
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: this is the single highest cultural-collision risk in the entire book. ‘Koinōnoi theias physeōs’ rendered ‘uczestnicy Boskiej natury’ must be explicitly distinguished at every occurrence from (1) Eastern Orthodox theosis/‘przebóstwienie,’ a fuller ontological transformation doctrine known to some Polish readers with Orthodox contact; (2) New Age or pantheistic ‘divine spark within every person’ language increasingly present in Polish popular spirituality; (3) self-divinization claims associated with some new religious movements in Poland. Correct sense — moral/relational participation in God’s holy character by grace, Creator and creature remaining absolutely distinct — must be stated explicitly, never left to inference.
Deity of Christ
Polish name: bóstwo Chrystusa
Key terms: savior, god, lord, majestic_glory_title
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: 2 Peter 1:1’s grammatical construction (‘naszego Boga i Zbawiciela Jezusa Chrystusa’) applies both ‘God’ and ‘Savior’ directly to Jesus, a construction of the same order as Titus 2:13. Must not be softened into two separate figures (‘God, and [also] our Savior Jesus Christ’) by ambiguous punctuation or phrasing in Polish; the unified, single-referent reading affirming Christ’s full deity must be preserved and flagged for theologian review.
Sonship of Christ
Polish name: synostwo Boże Chrystusa
Key terms: son_of_god, beloved, well_pleased, voice
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: the Father’s direct voice at the Transfiguration (‘Syn mój umiłowany’) is the divine confirmation of Christ’s eternal, unique Sonship, distinct from believers’ adoptive ‘dzieci Boże’ status established in the Romans baseline. ‘Umiłowany’ must be reserved for this unique declaration over the Son and not conflated with the general adoptive love language applied to believers elsewhere.
Lordship of Christ
Polish name: panowanie Chrystusa
Key terms: lord, master_sovereign, dominion_authority
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: 2 Peter’s repeated formula ‘our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ’ reinforces exclusive, supreme lordship established in the Romans baseline’s ‘Pan.’ 2:1’s additional term ‘despotēs’ (‘Władca’) must be kept lexically distinct from ‘Pan’ so that its stronger absolute-ownership sense (Christ as the Master who bought the false teachers) is not lost by collapsing both Greek terms into the same Polish word.
Messianic Promise
Polish name: obietnica mesjańska
Key terms: christ_name, messiah
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: ‘Chrystus’ (Christos) must be explicitly taught as equivalent to the baseline’s Critical ‘Mesjasz,’ since 2 Peter uses Christos overwhelmingly as a proper name rather than an explicit title, risking the two forms being perceived by readers as unrelated designations rather than the same fulfilled Old Testament promise.
Faith
Polish name: wiara
Key terms: faith, faith_equal_standing
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: reuses the Romans baseline’s Critical caution in full. 2 Peter 1:1’s ‘faith of equal standing’ (‘wiara równie cenna’) must not be read through the ‘Polak-katolik’ lens of shared national-Catholic heritage; it affirms equal personal trust in Christ across all generations of genuine believers, apostles and later readers alike.
Repentance and Salvation
Polish name: nawrócenie i zbawienie
Key terms: repentance, salvation, destruction_perdition
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: ‘metanoia’ must be rendered ‘nawrócenie,’ never ‘pokuta’ without qualification, since Polish ‘pokuta’ is strongly and specifically tied to the sacrament of Penance/Reconciliation (confession to a priest, prescribed penitential acts, sacramental absolution). God’s patience (3:9) aims at an inward turning available to every person regardless of sacramental access; collapsing this into the ritual-sacramental sense would mirror the exact collision pattern the Romans baseline documents for ‘wiara’ and ‘usprawiedliwienie.‘
High Risk Doctrines
Growing in Christian Virtue
Polish name: wzrost w chrześcijańskiej cnocie
Key terms: virtue, self_control, godliness, full_knowledge, love, grow_in_grace_knowledge, divine_power
Review routing: Human theologian
HIGH: ‘aretē’ rendered ‘cnota’ risks conflation with the catechetically prominent Polish Catholic ‘cnoty’ framework (theological and cardinal virtues drawn from Thomistic moral theology). 2 Peter’s virtue chain must be taught as Spirit-enabled fruit of grace already given (1:3-4), not an alternative checklist mastered by ascetic effort. ‘Eusebeia’ rendered ‘pobożność’ risks narrowing to external devotional practice (nabożeństwa, pielgrzymki) rather than holistic, inward God-reverence.
Patience of God’s Timing
Polish name: cierpliwość Bożego czasu
Key terms: patience_gods, is_slow_delays, repentance
Review routing: Human theologian
HIGH: ‘makrothymia’ rendered ‘cierpliwość Boża’ must be taught as purposeful and salvation-oriented, directly countering both the scoffers’ charge of divine failure (3:4,9) and any fatalistic Polish vernacular reading of delay as impersonal ‘los’ or divine inaction. This doctrine is tightly bound to the Critical term ‘metanoia’ (‘nawrócenie’), whose Catholic cognate ‘pokuta’ risks collapsing the NT’s call to inward, personal turning into the specific sacramental act of Penance/Reconciliation.
Divine Calling and Election
Polish name: powołanie i wybranie Boże
Key terms: calling, election
Review routing: Human theologian
HIGH: reuses the Romans baseline’s caution on ‘powołanie’ in full. 2 Peter 1:10’s exhortation to ‘confirm your calling and election’ must be taught as every believer’s salvation-calling, confirmed by the fruit of the virtue chain, and must not default to the culturally dominant Polish sense of ‘powołanie’ as a call to priesthood or consecrated religious life.
Medium Risk Doctrines
Grace and Peace
Polish name: łaska i pokój
Key terms: grace, peace, full_knowledge
Review routing: Native speaker review
2 Peter 1:2 prays grace and peace be ‘multiplied’ through the full knowledge (‘epignōsis’) of God and Jesus our Lord, directly linking the baseline’s High-risk ‘łaska’ and Medium-risk ‘pokój’ to this letter’s distinctive relational-knowledge vocabulary. Ensure the connection to epignōsis is not lost in translation, or the doctrinal logic (grace/peace flow from relational knowing of Christ) will be obscured.
Eternal Kingdom
Polish name: wieczne królestwo
Key terms: eternal_kingdom_phrase, kingdom_of_god
Review routing: Native speaker review
Reuses the Romans baseline’s ‘królestwo Boże’ cautions against a political, territorial, or nationalist reading. 2 Peter 1:11 ties rich entry into this eternal kingdom to the fruit of the virtue chain, not to national or cultural Catholic heritage.
Scripture Canon Consciousness
Polish name: świadomość kanonu Pisma
Key terms: scripture, twist_distort, error
Review routing: Native speaker review
2 Peter 3:15-16 recognizes Paul’s letters as γραφή/Scripture within Peter’s own lifetime, an early and significant canon-consciousness statement. Native speaker review should confirm that ‘przekręcają’ (twist/distort) retains the sense of deliberate misuse of already-recognized apostolic Scripture, not mere misunderstanding, and that this connects clearly to the core Scripture-reliability doctrine.
Low Risk Doctrines
Apostleship
Polish name: apostolstwo
Key terms: apostle, servant_slave
Review routing: Automated review
‘Apostoł’ is unambiguous and consistent across Polish Christian traditions, as established in the Romans baseline. Peter’s paired self-designation ‘sługa’ (doulos) carries minor risk of softening to ‘hired helper’ rather than ‘one wholly owned by a master,’ but this affects nuance, not core doctrine.
