Executive Summary — Revelation Language Package (Polish)

Why it matters

Revelation is being added to the Polish TRI pipeline atop the existing Romans baseline. The book’s own genre — “signified” in symbols, not stated plainly (1:1) — combines with three distinctly Polish factors absent from Romans: an unusually active, well-published Jehovah’s Witness presence with its own literalist eschatology and Bible translation; deep Marian devotional vocabulary that collides with the Church-as-Bride title; and a beloved national dragon-folklore figure that collides with Revelation’s chief villain. Getting Revelation 21:1-8 — the curriculum’s theological anchor — and its supporting vocabulary right requires more theologian-review bandwidth than Romans did, proportionally, and the pipeline must be resourced accordingly.

Key findings

• New term inventory (08_core_glossary.md, Section 4): 13 Critical, 21 High, 3 Medium-High, 11 Medium, 3 Low — 51 newly introduced terms, of which 34 are Critical or High and require mandatory theologian review at every occurrence.
• Translation memory (this deliverable) now carries roughly 120 binding term entries: ~40 inherited exactly from the Romans baseline (faith, grace, salvation, saints, calling, election, covenant, etc.) plus ~80 new Revelation-specific entries, the largest single-book vocabulary expansion in the pipeline to date.

• The core passage, Revelation 21:1-8, converges nearly every Critical doctrine in the book (new creation, deity of Christ, judgment, assurance, adoption) into eight verses — it is simultaneously the curriculum’s greatest teaching opportunity and its highest-density risk zone.

Risks

• Jehovah’s Witnesses’ active Polish publishing and door-to-door presence creates the single largest external-doctrine collision risk: 144,000/great multitude, Armageddon, Michael, and the millennium chronology are all live, competing teachings many Polish learners will have already encountered, not abstract hypotheticals.
• Marian devotional vocabulary (“Oblubienica Ducha Świętego”) risks silently redirecting the entire Church-as-Bride doctrine toward Mary individually if the corporate clarifying note is ever dropped from an occurrence.
• Merit-cooperation catechesis risks reframing the book’s climactic judgment scene (20:11-13, “judged according to works”) as salvation-by-ledger, retroactively undermining the forensic justification doctrine the whole curriculum depends on.
• “Smok Wawelski” folk-hero association is a uniquely Polish, high-likelihood misfire: an unglossed “Smok” reads as a beloved, non-threatening civic mascot, the near-opposite of the text’s intent.
• Nationalist/resistance-memory overtones on “zwycięzca” (overcomer) and totalitarian-memory overtones on “Bestia” (beast) are pedagogically valuable but require constant textual anchoring (12:11) to prevent drift into political-triumphalist or single-regime readings.

Opportunities

• Poland’s strong monarchical and Creed-anchored vocabulary (“Wszechmogący,” “Król królów i Pan panów”) gives the Sovereignty/Lordship doctrines an unusually strong, ready-made lexical foundation — a genuine asset, not a gap.
• The text’s own internal safeguards — the angel’s refusal of worship (19:10; 22:8-9) and 12:11’s definition of “overcoming” — are ready-made, Scripture-native teaching tools that pre-empt several of the collision risks above without requiring polemics against Polish devotional practice.
• The liturgical familiarity of “Baranek Boży” and the trisagion “Święty, Święty, Święty” give the Worship-of-the-Lamb doctrine an immediate, resonant entry point for both Catholic and Protestant learners.
• Poland’s own strong missionary-sending history and lived memory of enduring totalitarian persecution offer legitimate, powerful illustrative material for the Perseverance and Mission doctrines, provided the transhistorical (not single-regime) scope is maintained.

Recommended actions

1. Load assets/translation_memory.json and assets/bible_term_registry.json (Revelation-extended) before any Phase 2 segment translation, per 12_ai_translation_requirements.md’s pre-flight checklist; do not translate from the Romans baseline files alone.
2. Route every segment touching Revelation 21:1-8 to mandatory human theologian review, regardless of apparent simplicity, given its doctrine-density.
3. Provision proportionally more theologian-review capacity than the Romans curriculum required, given 34 Critical/High new terms plus 9 Critical/6 High doctrines versus Romans’ comparable baseline load.
4. Apply the mandatory clarifying-note requirement literally at every occurrence (not just first use) for the ten destination-culture collision terms identified above — cost of omission is high (silent doctrinal drift), cost of repetition is low.
5. Brief all reviewers explicitly on the Jehovah’s Witness collision set (144,000, great multitude, Armageddon, Michael, millennium chronology) before Phase 2 begins, since this is the single most probable source of learner background-knowledge interference in this destination culture.
