Doctrine Analysis
Doctrine Analysis: 2 Timothy — Full-Book Coverage
This document is the complete doctrine matrix for 2 Timothy Phase 1 Step 4, extending the baseline Romans Language Package. It is fully consistent with assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json: the same 26 doctrines, the same risk tiers, and the same review routing are used here without alteration. This file adds the chapter-by-chapter coverage trace required by the PRD’s full-book-coverage mandate — every verse range in all four chapters of 2 Timothy is accounted for, whether or not it introduces new doctrinal risk.
The core passage, 2 Timothy 3:14–4:5 (the charge to continue in Scripture and preach the word), anchors this analysis theologically but is not the boundary of scope. All 83 verses across four chapters are reviewed below.
Part A — Doctrine Matrix (26 doctrines, consistent with doctrine_risk_registry.json)
| # | Doctrine | Odia Doctrine Name | Risk | Supporting Passages (2 Timothy) | Translation Risk Summary | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Inspiration of Scripture | ପବିତ୍ର ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରର ପ୍ରେରଣା | Critical | 3:15, 3:16 | θεόπνευστος requires the compound ପରମେଶ୍ୱର-ନିଃଶ୍ୱାସିତ, never the weaker ଅନୁପ୍ରାଣିତ; ପବିତ୍ର ଶାସ୍ତ୍ର (not bare ଶାସ୍ତ୍ର, the generic Hindu term for any authoritative treatise) must anchor the canon reference. | Human theologian |
| 2 | Sufficiency of Scripture | ପବିତ୍ର ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରର ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣତା | High | 3:15–17 | ”Make wise for salvation” must stay bound to the faith-in-Christ clause to avoid a jñāna-mārga (self-attained liberating knowledge) reading; “every good work” must use କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ, never a କର୍ମ-rooted compound. | Human theologian |
| 3 | Perseverance under Suffering | ଦୁଃଖଭୋଗ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ସହନଶୀଳତା | High | 1:8; 2:3; 2:9–12; 3:11–12; 4:5 | κακοπαθέω/ὑπομένω must never use a ଭୋଗ-rooted word (karma-phala association); endurance here is purposeful and reward-assured, not resigned fate-bearing. | Human theologian |
| 4 | Guarding Sound Doctrine | ସୁସ୍ଥ ଶିକ୍ଷାର ସୁରକ୍ଷା | High | 1:13–14; 2:2; 2:15–19; 4:3 | ସୁସ୍ଥ ଶିକ୍ଷା must stay linked to the “gangrene” (2:17) health/sickness metaphor field; 2:18 corrupts the Critical term ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ, the clearest concrete case of doctrinal corruption in this book. | Human theologian |
| 5 | Faithful Transmission of the Gospel | ସୁସମାଚାରର ବିଶ୍ୱସ୍ତ ହସ୍ତାନ୍ତରଣ | High | 1:5; 1:13–14; 2:2; 2:8 | ନ୍ୟାସ (deposit) must render identically for both directions of Paul’s usage (his life entrusted to God; the gospel entrusted to Timothy); 2:2’s four-generation chain must preserve one consistent term-family. | Human theologian |
| 6 | The Charge to Preach the Word | ବାକ୍ୟ ପ୍ରଚାର କରିବାର ଆଦେଶ | High | 4:1–2; 2:9 | διαμαρτύρομαι is a formal, witnessed commissioning, never softened to a casual request; κηρύσσω is a herald’s authoritative public proclamation, not private opinion-sharing. | Human theologian |
| 7 | Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days | ଶେଷ କାଳରେ ଧର୍ମଭ୍ରଷ୍ଟତା ଓ ଭ୍ରାନ୍ତ ଶିକ୍ଷକ | Critical | 1:15; 2:17–18; 3:1–9; 3:13; 4:3–4; 4:10 | ଶେଷ କାଳ is a linear, one-time terminal period, never a phase within the cyclical four-yuga cosmology; escalated to Critical because 2:18’s named case (Hymenaeus, Philetus) directly attacks the Critical baseline Resurrection doctrine. | Human theologian |
| 8 | Assurance of Reward | ପୁରସ୍କାରର ନିଶ୍ଚିତତା | High | 4:6–8; 4:14; 4:18 | 4:14’s “repay according to works” is this book’s closest surface resemblance to karma-phala language; must use କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ/ପ୍ରତିଫଳ, never କର୍ମ or bare ଫଳ, to preserve a personal Judge’s specific verdict, not impersonal cosmic law. | Human theologian |
| 9 | Effectual Calling / Election | ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଆହ୍ୱାନ ଓ ମନୋନୟନ | High | 1:9; 2:10 | Sovereign personal call, not ଭାଗ୍ୟ (fate) nor the sign-based Nabakalebara selection ritual; 1:9’s “not according to our works but according to His own purpose and grace” parallels the baseline grace-vs-merit escalation. | Human theologian |
| 10 | Grace | କୃପା | High | 1:9; 2:1; 4:22 | Unmerited favor set against the ritual-offering economy of Jagannath devotion (seba, bhoga, pilgrimage merit); 1:9 explicitly contrasts grace with works. | Human theologian |
| 11 | Faith | ବିଶ୍ୱାସ | High | 1:5; 1:13; 3:15; 4:7 | Personal trust in Christ specifically, not Odia Vaishnav bhakti devotional surrender; 1:5’s multigenerational transmission (Lois–Eunice–Timothy) is saving trust passed down, not inherited devotional custom. | Human theologian |
| 12 | Resurrection of Christ | ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ | Critical | 2:8; 2:18 | ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ, never ପୁନର୍ଜନ୍ମ; 2:18 records the book’s own named case of false teachers denying this doctrine outright — the sharpest concrete corruption instance in 2 Timothy. | Human theologian |
| 13 | Lordship and Judgeship of Christ | ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ପ୍ରଭୁତ୍ୱ ଓ ବିଚାରକର୍ତ୍ତୃତ୍ୱ | Critical | 4:1; 4:8 | ପ୍ରଭୁ, never ଠାକୁର (Jagannath’s everyday devotional name); universal judgeship over the living and the dead must remain personal, exclusive, and comprehensive. | Human theologian |
| 14 | Holy Spirit Indwelling and Guarding the Deposit | ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କଠାରେ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମାର ବାସ | Critical | 1:14 | ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା, never ପରମାତ୍ମା (Vedantic monistic Universal Self); the Spirit personally guards the deposit — this agency must not flatten into an impersonal indwelling principle. | Human theologian |
| 15 | Sanctification | ପବିତ୍ରୀକରଣ | High | 2:20–21 | A sanctified “vessel for honor” names moral/relational readiness for service, not ritual-purity qualification for hereditary temple-style duty. | Human theologian |
| 16 | Godliness: Form versus Power | ଭକ୍ତିର ବାହ୍ୟ ରୂପ ଓ ପ୍ରକୃତ ସାମର୍ଥ୍ୟ | High | 3:5; 3:12 | Unqualified ଭକ୍ତି names Odia Vaishnav devotional practice; explicit divine-object qualification (ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଭକ୍ତି) is required so the form-vs-power contrast is neither misapplied nor softened into generic hypocrisy critique. | Human theologian |
| 17 | Persecution as Normative for Godly Living | ଧାର୍ମିକ ଜୀବନଯାପନ ପାଇଁ ତାଡ଼ନା | Medium | 3:11–12 | Presented as expected, universal discipleship experience; must not be softened into an unusual or avoidable outcome for a select few. | Native speaker review |
| 18 | Spiritual Gifts and Ministry Office | ଆତ୍ମିକ ଦାନ ଓ ସେବକାର୍ଯ୍ୟ | Medium | 1:6; 4:5 | ସେବକାର୍ଯ୍ୟ (never bare ସେବା) to avoid the hereditary, caste-linked Puri sevayat/pandaa temple-service role; this is a personal, Spirit-given calling exercised by choice. | Native speaker review |
| 19 | Immortality and Resurrection Hope | ଅକ୍ଷୟତାର ଆଶା | High | 1:10 | ଅକ୍ଷୟତା, never ଅମରତ୍ୱ (Vedantic ātman’s inherent eternality); this is a future gift secured by Christ’s finished work, not a native soul-property. | Human theologian |
| 20 | Eschatological Last Days | ଶେଷ କାଳର ଶିକ୍ଷା | High | 3:1 | A linear, one-time terminal period preceding Christ’s final return, not a phase of the endlessly repeating four-yuga cosmic cycle in which Kali Yuga eventually resets. | Human theologian |
| 21 | Love of This Present Age versus Love of Christ’s Appearing | ଏହି ଜଗତ ପ୍ରେମ ବିପକ୍ଷରେ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ପ୍ରକଟୀକରଣ ପ୍ରେମ | High | 4:8; 4:10 | ଏହି ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ଜଗତ, never ଯୁଗ (the technical Hindu cosmic-age term); Christ’s ପ୍ରକଟୀକରଣ must not be assimilated to Rath Yatra/Nabajauban Besha’s periodic ritual “appearings” of Jagannath’s image. | Human theologian |
| 22 | The Devil and Spiritual Opposition | ଶୟତାନର ବିରୋଧ | High | 2:26 | ଶୟତାନ, never ଭୂତ (the generic folk-belief evil-spirit/ghost term of Odia bhuta-preta belief); a single, personal, cosmic tempter, categorically distinct. | Human theologian |
| 23 | Shame and Honor in Gospel Witness | ସୁସମାଚାର ସାକ୍ଷ୍ୟରେ ଲଜ୍ଜା ଓ ସମ୍ମାନ | Medium | 1:8; 1:12; 1:16 | Public identification with a shamed, imprisoned figure carries real social cost in an honor-conscious culture; must not be softened into a low-cost private sentiment. | Native speaker review |
| 24 | Mercy and Divine Compassion | ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଦୟା | Medium | 1:2; 1:16; 1:18 | ଦୟା is also the standard word for generic human kindness; God’s mercy specifically requires an explicit divine subject (ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଦୟା). | Native speaker review |
| 25 | Thanksgiving and Gratitude | ଧନ୍ୟବାଦ ସ୍ତୁତି | Low | 1:3 | Standard reused term; minor risk of over-ritualization only. | Automated review |
| 26 | Personal Greetings and Christian Fellowship | ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଗତ ନମସ୍କାର ଓ ସହଭାଗିତା | Low | 4:9–13; 4:19–22 | Proper-name transliteration and standard fellowship vocabulary; no new doctrinal risk beyond consistent name-form transliteration. | Automated review |
Risk summary (must match doctrine_risk_registry.json exactly): Critical = 5, High = 15, Medium = 4, Low = 2. Total requiring theologian review = 20. Total requiring native speaker review = 4. Total automated-only = 2.
Part B — Full Chapter Coverage Trace

| 3:13 | Evil men and impostors will grow worse, deceiving and being deceived | Apostasy and False Teachers | ପ୍ରବଞ୍ଚକ |
| 3:14–15 | [CORE PASSAGE BEGINS] Continue in what you learned and firmly believed; from childhood known the sacred writings able to make wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus | Sufficiency of Scripture; Faith; Salvation (baseline) | ପବିତ୍ର ଲେଖା (distinct from ପବିତ୍ର ଶାସ୍ତ୍ର in v.16); ଜ୍ଞାନୀ କରିବା tied explicitly to faith-in-Christ clause |
| 3:16 | All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, training in righteousness | Inspiration of Scripture; Sufficiency of Scripture | Single most doctrinally loaded verse in the book: ପରମେଶ୍ୱର-ନିଃଶ୍ୱାସିତ, ପବିତ୍ର ଶାସ୍ତ୍ର |
| 3:17 | That the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work | Sufficiency of Scripture | ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ସତ୍କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ — never a କର୍ମ-rooted compound |
Chapter 4 (4:1–22)
| Verses | Content | Doctrines Active | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4:1 | [CORE PASSAGE CONTINUES] Solemn charge before God and Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, by his appearing and his kingdom | The Charge to Preach the Word; Lordship and Judgeship of Christ; Love of This Present Age vs. Christ’s Appearing (ପ୍ରକଟୀକରଣ root) | Fixed early-church confessional formula “judge the living and the dead”; ପ୍ରକଟୀକରଣ must not merge with Rath Yatra imagery |
| 4:2 | Preach the word; be ready in season and out; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with complete patience and teaching | The Charge to Preach the Word; Guarding Sound Doctrine | κηρύσσω authoritative-proclamation force must be preserved |
| 4:3–4 | Time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but will turn to myths, having itching ears | Guarding Sound Doctrine; Apostasy and False Teachers | କଳ୍ପିତ କଥା — never “puranic story,” which would characterize Hindu Puranic literature (linked to Jagannath’s own lore) as fables |
| 4:5 | Be watchful, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry | Perseverance under Suffering; Spiritual Gifts and Ministry Office | ସେବକାର୍ଯ୍ୟ, never bare ସେବା (Puri seba-role collision); ସୁସମାଚାର ପ୍ରଚାରକ (evangelist) |
| 4:6 | Paul poured out as a drink offering; time of his departure has come | Assurance of Reward | ପେୟ ବଳି ପରି ଢଳାଯାଉଅଛି — never ନୈବେଦ୍ୟ (Jagannath’s bhoga offering term); ପ୍ରସ୍ଥାନ avoids mokṣa-like “release from cycle” overtone |
| 4:7–8 | Fought the good fight, finished the race, kept the faith; crown of righteousness laid up, given by the righteous Judge, to all who have loved his appearing | Assurance of Reward; Lordship and Judgeship of Christ; Love of This Present Age vs. Christ’s Appearing | Climactic reward statement; combines ପ୍ରକଟୀକରଣ and ପ୍ରେମ, both High-risk |

| 4:22 | The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you. | Grace | Closing benediction; reuses baseline ପ୍ରଭୁ, କୃପା exactly |
Part C — Coverage Confirmation
- Chapters reviewed: 1, 2, 3, 4 (all four chapters of 2 Timothy; entire book).
- Verses with no new doctrinal risk (2:11–13; 2:23–25; 3:6–7; 4:15–16) are explicitly noted above as Reviewed — reinforces existing tier, not silently omitted.
- Core passage (3:14–4:5) is confirmed as the theological anchor: it carries the book’s single highest doctrinal density (Inspiration of Scripture at Critical tier in 3:16; Sufficiency of Scripture across 3:15–17; The Charge to Preach the Word and Lordship/Judgeship of Christ in 4:1–2; Guarding Sound Doctrine and Apostasy in 4:3–4; Perseverance and Ministry in 4:5).
- Doctrine count, risk tiers, and review routing above are identical to
doctrine_risk_registry.json— no doctrine added, removed, or re-tiered in this analysis.
This document supersedes no artifact; it is a companion doctrine matrix and full-book coverage trace for assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json, prepared per PRD Phase 1 Step 4.
Critical Risk Doctrines
Inspiration of Scripture
Odia name: ପବିତ୍ର ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରର ପ୍ରେରଣା
Key terms: God-breathed, all Scripture, Holy Scriptures
Review routing: Human theologian
θεόπνευστος (‘God-breathed,’ 3:16) is the single most important word in the core passage and must be rendered with a compound calqued on ‘God + breathed’ (ପରମେଶ୍ୱର-ନିଃଶ୍ୱାସିତ), never the weaker ଅନୁପ୍ରାଣିତ used broadly of poets, patriots, or devotees. ଶାସ୍ତ୍ର alone is the generic Hindu term for any authoritative treatise (Veda-śāstra, Dharma-śāstra); the ପବିତ୍ର modifier anchoring ପବିତ୍ର ଶାସ୍ତ୍ର to the OT/NT canon is load-bearing and must never be dropped.
Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Odia name: ଶେଷ କାଳରେ ଧର୍ମଭ୍ରଷ୍ଟତା ଓ ଭ୍ରାନ୍ତ ଶିକ୍ଷକ
Key terms: last days, turn away, myths, form of godliness, resurrection already past, itching ears
Review routing: Human theologian
ଶେଷ କାଳ must be read as a linear, one-time terminal period, never as a phase within Odisha’s cyclical four-yuga cosmology (Satya-Tretā-Dvāpara-Kali), in which the present corrupt Kali Yuga eventually resets rather than terminates. This doctrine is escalated to Critical because its concrete named case (2:18, Hymenaeus and Philetus denying the resurrection) directly attacks a Critical baseline doctrine (Resurrection of Christ) — showing false teaching in Paul’s own day already targeting the sharpest doctrinal term in this Language Package.
Resurrection of Christ
Odia name: ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ
Key terms: resurrection, raised from the dead
Review routing: Human theologian
ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ, never ପୁନର୍ଜନ୍ମ (per baseline). 2:18 records the book’s own named case of false teachers denying this doctrine by claiming the resurrection is already past — the single most concrete instance in 2 Timothy of the exact corruption this Language Package’s Critical-tier terms are designed to prevent.
Lordship and Judgeship of Christ
Odia name: ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ପ୍ରଭୁତ୍ୱ ଓ ବିଚାରକର୍ତ୍ତୃତ୍ୱ
Key terms: Lord, judge the living and the dead, the righteous Judge
Review routing: Human theologian
ପ୍ରଭୁ, never ଠାକୁର (per baseline — Jagannath’s everyday devotional name). Christ’s universal judgeship over the living and the dead must remain a personal, exclusive, comprehensive authority, not read as one of several venerated ruling figures within a regional pantheon.
Holy Spirit Indwelling and Guarding the Deposit
Odia name: ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କଠାରେ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମାର ବାସ
Key terms: Holy Spirit who dwells in us
Review routing: Human theologian
ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା, never ପରମାତ୍ମା (per baseline — the monistic Universal Self of Vedantic usage). The Spirit here personally guards the entrusted deposit of sound doctrine; this personal, guarding agency must not be flattened into an impersonal indwelling cosmic principle.
High Risk Doctrines
Sufficiency of Scripture
Odia name: ପବିତ୍ର ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରର ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣତା
Key terms: profitable, complete, thoroughly equipped, every good work, make wise for salvation
Review routing: Human theologian
Scripture’s wisdom (ଜ୍ଞାନୀ କରିବା) must be tied explicitly to the following faith-in-Christ clause so it is never read as self-attained liberating jñāna (Vedantic jñāna-mārga). Equipping for ‘every good work’ must use କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ, never a କର୍ମ-rooted compound, to avoid a karma-merit reading of works that flow from grace already received.
Perseverance under Suffering
Odia name: ଦୁଃଖଭୋଗ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ସହନଶୀଳତା
Key terms: endure hardship, endurance, persecution, good soldier
Review routing: Human theologian
κακοπαθέω/ὑπομένω must never be rendered with any word built on the root ଭୋଗ (bhoga), which in widespread Odia folk-religious usage names the impersonal working-out of karma-phala across lifetimes. NT endurance is purposeful, hope-filled perseverance for Christ’s sake with an assured future reward (4:8), not the resigned experiencing of an inherited moral debt.
Guarding Sound Doctrine
Odia name: ସୁସ୍ଥ ଶିକ୍ଷାର ସୁରକ୍ଷା
Key terms: sound doctrine, rightly dividing, the deposit, gangrene, pattern of sound words
Review routing: Human theologian
ସୁସ୍ଥ ଶିକ୍ଷା (‘healthy teaching’) must stay linked to the ‘gangrene’ image of 2:17 within the same health/sickness metaphor field. 2:18 names a real, historical false teaching (claiming the resurrection is already past) that corrupted the Critical baseline term ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥାନ — the clearest concrete case in this book of doctrinal corruption reaching a Critical-tier term.
Faithful Transmission of the Gospel
Odia name: ସୁସମାଚାରର ବିଶ୍ୱସ୍ତ ହସ୍ତାନ୍ତରଣ
Key terms: entrust, the deposit, unfeigned faith, gospel
Review routing: Human theologian
ନ୍ୟାସ (deposit/παραθήκη) must render identically in both directions of Paul’s usage — his own life entrusted to God (1:12) and the gospel entrusted to Timothy (1:14) — or the two-way stewardship picture central to this doctrine collapses. 2:2’s four-generation chain (Paul-Timothy-faithful men-others) must preserve the same term-family throughout.
The Charge to Preach the Word
Odia name: ବାକ୍ୟ ପ୍ରଚାର କରିବାର ଆଦେଶ
Key terms: I solemnly charge, preach the word, word of God
Review routing: Human theologian
διαμαρτύρομαι is a formal, covenant-witnessed commissioning invoking God and Christ Jesus as witnesses and must not be softened to a casual request. κηρύσσω pictures a royal herald’s authoritative public announcement, not private conversation or personal opinion-sharing; surrounding teaching material must preserve this authoritative-proclamation force.
Assurance of Reward
Odia name: ପୁରସ୍କାରର ନିଶ୍ଚିତତା
Key terms: crown of righteousness, righteous Judge, repay according to works, loved his appearing
Review routing: Human theologian
4:14’s ‘repay according to works’ is the closest surface resemblance in this book to karma-phala language, and precisely there the underlying theology diverges most sharply: this is a personal Judge’s specific verdict for a specific person’s specific deeds, not an impersonal law of moral cause-and-effect. Must use କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ (never କର୍ମ) and ପ୍ରତିଫଳ (never bare ଫଳ, which alone suggests an automatic, impersonal yield).
Effectual Calling / Election
Odia name: ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଆହ୍ୱାନ ଓ ମନୋନୟନ
Key terms: called, calling, purpose and grace, the elect
Review routing: Human theologian
Reuses baseline caution: God’s sovereign, personal call must not be read as fate (ଭାଗ୍ୟ) or as the technical, sign-based selection ritual used to identify a new sacred image during Nabakalebara. 1:9’s explicit ‘not according to our works but according to His own purpose and grace’ directly parallels the baseline’s grace-vs-merit escalation rule.
Grace
Odia name: କୃପା
Key terms: grace, not according to our works
Review routing: Human theologian
Reuses the baseline note exactly: unmerited favor stands against the ritual-offering economy of Jagannath devotion (seba, bhoga offerings, pilgrimage merit). 1:9 explicitly contrasts grace with works, requiring the same escalation the baseline applies to Romans 3-4 and 11:5-6.
Faith
Odia name: ବିଶ୍ୱାସ
Key terms: faith, genuine faith, kept the faith
Review routing: Human theologian
Personal trust placed in Christ specifically, not the devotional surrender (ଭକ୍ତି) an Odia Vaishnav devotee directs toward Jagannath. 1:5’s multi-generational family transmission (Lois-Eunice-Timothy) must be read as personal saving trust passed down, not merely an inherited devotional custom.
Sanctification
Odia name: ପବିତ୍ରୀକରଣ
Key terms: sanctified, vessel for honor
Review routing: Human theologian
Reuses baseline distinction from ritual purity protocols. A ‘sanctified vessel’ here names moral/relational readiness for God’s service, not ritual-purity status of the kind that would qualify a person for temple-style hereditary duty.
Godliness: Form versus Power
Odia name: ଭକ୍ତିର ବାହ୍ୟ ରୂପ ଓ ପ୍ରକୃତ ସାମର୍ଥ୍ୟ
Key terms: godliness, form of godliness, power
Review routing: Human theologian
Unqualified ଭକ୍ତି names Odia Vaishnav devotional-surrender practice; the verse’s own contrast (outward form without inner power) makes explicit divine-object qualification (ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଭକ୍ତି) necessary so this critique is not misapplied or, conversely, softened into a generic complaint about hypocrisy detached from its doctrinal force.
Immortality and Resurrection Hope
Odia name: ଅକ୍ଷୟତାର ଆଶା
Key terms: immortality, life and immortality brought to light
Review routing: Human theologian
ଅକ୍ଷୟତା, never ଅମରତ୍ୱ, which evokes the Vedantic ātman’s inherently eternal nature that transmigrates until liberated. This is a future gift secured through Christ’s finished work and gospel proclamation, not a native property every soul already possesses.
Eschatological Last Days
Odia name: ଶେଷ କାଳର ଶିକ୍ଷା
Key terms: last days, perilous times
Review routing: Human theologian
A linear, one-time terminal period preceding history’s final consummation at Christ’s return, not a phase in the endlessly repeating four-yuga cosmic cycle (Satya-Tretā-Dvāpara-Kali) of Odisha’s dominant cosmology, in which the current corrupt Kali Yuga eventually resets rather than terminates once for all.
Love of This Present Age versus Love of Christ’s Appearing
Odia name: ଏହି ଜଗତ ପ୍ରେମ ବିପକ୍ଷରେ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ପ୍ରକଟୀକରଣ ପ୍ରେମ
Key terms: this present age, loved his appearing, Demas forsook me
Review routing: Human theologian
ଏହି ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ଜଗତ, never ଯୁଗ (the technical Hindu cosmic-age term). Christ’s ପ୍ରକଟୀକରଣ (‘appearing’) must not be assimilated to Rath Yatra’s or Nabajauban Besha’s periodic ritual ‘appearings’ of Jagannath’s temple image, which are recurring calendrical events, not a singular final historical return that Demas’s worldliness is contrasted against.
The Devil and Spiritual Opposition
Odia name: ଶୟତାନର ବିରୋଧ
Key terms: the devil, snare
Review routing: Human theologian
ଶୟତାନ, never ଭୂତ, the generic folk-religious evil-spirit/ghost term embedded in Odia village bhuta-preta belief and exorcism practice. The biblical devil is a single, personal, cosmic tempter and accuser, categorically distinct from that folk category of malevolent spirits.
Medium Risk Doctrines
Persecution as Normative for Godly Living
Odia name: ଧାର୍ମିକ ଜୀବନଯାପନ ପାଇଁ ତାଡ଼ନା
Key terms: persecution, all who desire to live godly
Review routing: Native speaker review
Presented as an expected, universal, normal experience of Christian discipleship in this book — must not be softened or presented as an unusual or avoidable outcome reserved only for a few.
Spiritual Gifts and Ministry Office
Odia name: ଆତ୍ମିକ ଦାନ ଓ ସେବକାର୍ଯ୍ୟ
Key terms: gift of God, laying on of hands, ministry
Review routing: Native speaker review
Ministry (ସେବକାର୍ଯ୍ୟ, never bare ସେବା) must not be read through the hereditary, caste-linked temple-service (seba) role of Puri sevayat/pandaa families; this is a personal, Spirit-given calling exercised by choice and empowerment, not an inherited ritual office.
Shame and Honor in Gospel Witness
Odia name: ସୁସମାଚାର ସାକ୍ଷ୍ୟରେ ଲଜ୍ଜା ଓ ସମ୍ମାନ
Key terms: not ashamed, ashamed of my chains
Review routing: Native speaker review
Honor/shame dynamics carry real social cost in an honor-conscious culture; public identification with a shamed, imprisoned figure (Paul) must not be softened into a merely private, low-cost sentiment when rendered in Odia.
Mercy and Divine Compassion
Odia name: ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଦୟା
Key terms: mercy
Review routing: Native speaker review
ଦୟା is also the standard word for general human compassion/kindness; when naming God’s mercy specifically it must appear with an explicit divine subject (ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଦୟା) to preserve the personal, God-directed sense distinct from generic ethical kindness.
Low Risk Doctrines
Thanksgiving and Gratitude
Odia name: ଧନ୍ୟବାଦ ସ୍ତୁତି
Key terms: thanksgiving, give thanks
Review routing: Automated review
Standard term reused from baseline; minor risk of over-ritualization only.
Personal Greetings and Christian Fellowship
Odia name: ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଗତ ନମସ୍କାର ଓ ସହଭାଗିତା
Key terms: greet, household of Onesiphorus, all the brethren
Review routing: Automated review
Proper-name transliteration and standard fellowship vocabulary only; no new theological vocabulary or doctrinal risk beyond consistent name-form transliteration.
