Cross-Reference Analysis
Cross-Reference and Theme Analysis: 2 Corinthians (Koine Greek → Indonesian)
Curriculum: 2 Corinthians 1–13
Core passage: 2 Corinthians 5:11–21
Destination language: Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia)
Governing authority: Baseline Romans Language Package (translation_memory.json, bible_term_registry.json, doctrine_risk_registry.json) plus this curriculum’s 07_semantic_analysis.md and 08_core_glossary.md. This document extends those artifacts; it does not override any established rendering.
Citation format: Normalized English book-name + chapter:verse (e.g., “Genesis 15:6,” “Romans 4:7-8,” “2 Corinthians 5:19”). Indonesian output documents continue to use LAI Alkitab TB book-name conventions (Roma, Kejadian, etc.) per the baseline’s Cross-Reference Preservation Rules.
Purpose
This document catalogs every Old Testament quotation and allusion, every messianic reference, every typological pattern, and every parallel to the Romans curriculum (and, where relevant, to other Pauline material likely to appear in future curricula in this language) found across the full text of 2 Corinthians. Its purpose is to give Phase 2 translators a single reference point for (a) where the source text is itself quoting or echoing Scripture, and (b) where a rendering decision made in this package must match a rendering already fixed in the baseline, or must be locked now for future curricula to match.
PART 1 — Chapter-by-Chapter Cross-Reference Matrix
Chapter 1 — Comfort in Suffering; God’s Faithfulness to His Promises
| 2 Cor. Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Corinthians 1:3 | Divine compassion formula (“Father of mercies, God of all comfort”) | God the Father | OT: Exodus 34:6; Psalm 103:13 | Medium. “Bapa” inherits Critical baseline risk (father); compassion must stay relational/adoptive, never physical parentage. |
| 2 Corinthians 1:19-20 | Messianic fulfillment of every divine promise (“Yes” and “Amen” in Christ) | Jesus Christ; Paul, Silvanus, Timothy | OT: Genesis 12:1-3; 2 Samuel 7:12-16; NT: Romans 15:8-9 (Christ confirms the promises made to the patriarchs) | High. Ties directly to the Messianic Promise doctrine (baseline Critical, messiah); needs the same distinguishing note used for Mesias elsewhere. |
| 2 Corinthians 1:22 | The Spirit as God’s own down payment (“seal,” “guarantee/arrabōn”) | Holy Spirit | OT background: ownership/sealing imagery (Haggai 2:23; Song of Solomon 8:6); NT: Ephesians 1:13-14; Romans 8:23 (firstfruits of the Spirit) | High. Inherits Critical holy_spirit risk; the Spirit himself, not a feeling, is the guarantee — distinguish from Ruh al-Qudus/Gabriel. |
Chapter 2 — Forgiveness, Satan’s Designs, the Fragrance of Christ
| 2 Cor. Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Corinthians 2:11 | Guarding against Satan’s designs through forgiveness | Satan (Iblis); the repentant offender | OT background: Job 1:6-12; 2:1-7; 1 Chronicles 21:1 | Medium. Iblis is shared vocabulary with Islam; scope of Satan’s activity differs between traditions — no Critical flag needed, but avoid implying identical doctrine. |
| 2 Corinthians 2:14-16 | Sacrificial aroma; the fragrance of Christ | Christ; Paul as minister | OT: Leviticus 1:9, 13, 17 (soothing aroma to the LORD); Genesis 8:21 (Noah’s pleasing aroma) | Low-Medium. Minor cultural resonance with incense (dupa) practice; not a doctrinal conflict, but a clarifying footnote on OT sacrificial background is recommended. |
| 2 Corinthians 2:17 | Sincerity contrasted with “peddling” God’s word | Paul vs. unnamed rival teachers | NT parallel: 1 Thessalonians 2:3-5 | Medium. Anticipates the Sincerity and Apostolic Authority doctrine developed through chs. 3-4, 10-13. |
Chapter 3 — The New Covenant, the Letter and the Spirit, the Veil of Moses
| 2 Cor. Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Corinthians 3:3 | New-covenant inscription on hearts, not stone | Moses (background); believers | OT: Exodus 31:18; 34:1; Jeremiah 31:33; Ezekiel 11:19; 36:26 | High. Direct doctrinal parallel to Romans 2:15 (“the law written on their hearts”) — rendering-consistency rule required (see Part 4). |
| 2 Corinthians 3:6 | ”The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life” | Moses (old covenant); Holy Spirit | OT: Jeremiah 31:31-34 (new covenant prophecy); NT: Romans 7:6 (verbally identical antithesis — γράμμα/πνεῦμα) | High. Mandatory rendering-consistency with Romans 7:6 — see Part 4. |
| 2 Corinthians 3:7-11 | Moses’ fading glory | Moses; Christ (implied contrast) | OT: Exodus 34:29-35 | High. Typological reading of Moses; must not read as denigrating Hukum Taurat itself, only a letter-without-Spirit approach to it. |
| 2 Corinthians 3:13, 16 | Veil on Moses’ face; veil removed in Christ | Moses; “whoever turns to the Lord” | OT: Exodus 34:33, 34, 35 | High. Must be anchored to cognitive/spiritual perception, not literal head-covering practice (cf. jilbab/hijab discourse). |
| 2 Corinthians 3:18 | Progressive transformation “from glory to glory” | Believers; the Spirit | NT: Romans 8:29 (conformed to the image of his Son); Romans 12:2 (transformed by renewal of the mind) | Medium. Romans parallel supports consistent “diubah… menjadi serupa” phrasing across both books. |
Chapter 4 — Treasure in Jars of Clay; the Gospel’s Light
| 2 Cor. Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Corinthians 4:4 | Christ as “the image of God” | Christ; “the god of this age” (Satan) | OT background: Genesis 1:26-27 (imago Dei); NT: Colossians 1:15; Romans 8:29 | Critical. Another assertion of Christ’s full deity; same theologian-review tier as Anak Allah. |
| 2 Corinthians 4:6 | ”Let light shine out of darkness” | God the Creator | OT: Genesis 1:3 | Medium. Forward-links to the New Creation doctrine anchored at 2 Corinthians 5:17. |
| 2 Corinthians 4:7 | Treasure in jars of clay | Paul, ministers | NT parallel/anticipation: 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 | Low. Anticipates Power in Weakness doctrine. |
| 2 Corinthians 4:13 | ”I believed, and so I spoke” | Paul; the psalmist | OT: Psalm 116:10 (LXX) | Medium. faith/iman baseline term; anchor to trust producing bold speech, not mere assent. |
| 2 Corinthians 4:14 | The God who raised Jesus will also raise us | Christ; believers | NT: Romans 8:11 (the Spirit who raised Christ will give life to your mortal bodies) | High. resurrection/kebangkitan baseline term; rendering-consistency with Romans 8:11. |
Chapter 5 — Tent, Judgment Seat, Reconciliation, New Creation (Core Passage 5:11–21 plus 5:1–10)
| 2 Cor. Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Corinthians 5:1-4 | Earthly tent vs. heavenly dwelling | Believers | OT typological background: Exodus 25-27 (the Tabernacle); NT: Hebrews 9:11 (a greater tabernacle) | Low-Medium. Distinct from OT Kemah Suci (Tabernacle) despite the shared “kemah” root. |
| 2 Corinthians 5:10 | Judgment seat of Christ | Christ as judge; believers | OT: Ecclesiastes 12:14; Psalm 62:12 (God will render to each according to his work); NT: Romans 14:10 (direct parallel — “we will all stand before the judgment seat of God”) | High. Mandatory rendering-consistency with Romans 14:10; evaluates reward, not entry to salvation — distinguish from Yaum al-Din/mizan. |
| 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 | ”One died for all” — substitutionary death | Christ | OT: Isaiah 53:5-6, 12; NT: Romans 5:6-8, 18-19 (Adam-Christ substitution/representation) | Critical. Same doctrinal tier as baseline’s Romans 5 substitution material. |
| 2 Corinthians 5:17 | New creation | Believers “in Christ” | OT background: Isaiah 43:18-19; 65:17 (new heavens, former things not remembered); NT: Galatians 6:15 — identical Greek phrase καινὴ κτίσις | Critical. Cross-curriculum rendering-consistency rule required now for a future Galatians curriculum — see Part 4. |
| 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 | Reconciliation; God’s initiating act in Christ | God the Father; Christ; Paul (ministry) | OT background: no direct equivalent (contrast with tawbah); NT: Romans 5:10-11 (direct doctrinal and lexical parallel — “we were reconciled to God”); Colossians 1:19-20 | Critical. Mandatory rendering-consistency with Romans 5:10-11 — see Part 4. |
| 2 Corinthians 5:19 | ”Not counting their trespasses against them” | God | OT: Psalm 32:1-2 (“blessed is the one… whose sin the LORD will not count against him”); NT: Romans 4:7-8 — direct quotation of Psalm 32:1-2 using the same λογίζομαι root | Critical. Direct, high-priority rendering-consistency rule — see Part 4; same forensic non-imputation vocabulary as Romans 4:7-8. |
| 2 Corinthians 5:21 | ”Made him who knew no sin to be sin for us” | Christ | OT: Isaiah 53:4-6, 9-12 (the sinless Servant bearing others’ iniquity) | Critical. |
| 2 Corinthians 5:21 | ”That we might become the righteousness of God” | Believers | NT: Romans 3:21-26; 4:3-5 (direct doctrinal parallel to imputed righteousness) | Critical. Rendering-consistency with baseline imputed_righteousness/righteousness — see Part 4. |
Chapter 6 — Ministry Marks, Call to Separation, Sonship
| 2 Cor. Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Corinthians 6:2 | ”In the day of salvation I have helped you” | Christ (implied “acceptable time”) | OT: Isaiah 49:8 | Critical. Direct quotation using baseline salvation/keselamatan term. |
| 2 Corinthians 6:14-16 | Unequal yokes; temple of the living God | Believers; idols (contrast) | OT background: Deuteronomy 7:2-4; Leviticus 26:11-12; Ezekiel 37:27 | High. Culturally sensitive re: Indonesian interfaith partnership norms; corporate temple imagery, not a physical/pilgrimage site. |
| 2 Corinthians 6:17 | ”Come out from their midst, be separate” | Believers | OT: Isaiah 52:11; Ezekiel 20:34, 41 | Medium-High. |
| 2 Corinthians 6:18 | ”I will be a father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters” | God the Father; believers | OT: 2 Samuel 7:14; Isaiah 43:6; Jeremiah 31:9 | Critical. Inherits father/adoption baseline risk; rendering-consistency with the Davidic covenant-sonship background already fixed at Romans 1:3 (keturunan Daud) — see Part 4. |
Chapter 7 — Godly Sorrow and Repentance; Comfort Renewed
| 2 Cor. Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| 2 Corinthians 7:6-7 | God comforts the downcast through Titus’ arrival | God; Titus | NT parallel: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (internal echo) | Medium. |
| 2 Corinthians 7:9-10 | Godly sorrow producing repentance | The Corinthian congregation (offending party) | OT background: Psalm 51 (David’s repentance); NT parallel: Romans 2:4 (God’s kindness is meant to lead to repentance) | High. |
Chapter 8 — The Collection: Grace and Generosity, Part 1
| 2 Cor. Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Corinthians 8:9 | Christ’s self-impoverishment (“though rich, he became poor”) | Christ | OT background: Isaiah 53:2-3 (no beauty, despised); NT: Philippians 2:6-8 (kenosis parallel) | Critical. Same incarnational care as the baseline’s Incarnation doctrine. |
| 2 Corinthians 8:15 | Manna-equality quotation | Israel in the wilderness (typological background); Corinthian/Macedonian churches | OT: Exodus 16:18 | Medium. |
| 2 Corinthians 8:1-6 | The Macedonian churches’ grace-generated giving | Macedonian churches | NT parallel: Romans 15:26 (the same historical Jerusalem collection Paul is organizing) | High. See Part 3 note on the Romans-2 Corinthians collection link. |
Chapter 9 — The Collection: Grace and Generosity, Part 2
| 2 Cor. Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Corinthians 9:7 | ”God loves a cheerful giver” | God | OT: Proverbs 22:8a (LXX); cf. Proverbs 11:24-25 | Medium. |
| 2 Corinthians 9:9 | ”His righteousness endures forever” | The generous righteous person (Psalm’s referent); by extension, generous believers | OT: Psalm 112:9 | High. Righteous-conduct sense of δικαιοσύνη, not the forensic sense of 5:21 — sense must be verified per occurrence. |
| 2 Corinthians 9:10 | God supplies seed and multiplies the harvest | God | OT: Isaiah 55:10; Hosea 10:12 | Medium. |
Chapter 10 — Spiritual Warfare and Legitimate Boasting
| 2 Cor. Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Corinthians 10:17-18 | ”Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord” | Paul; “the one whom the Lord commends” | OT: Jeremiah 9:23-24; NT: 1 Corinthians 1:31 (identical quotation); Romans 5:11 (καυχώμεθα — “we also rejoice/boast in God”) | High. Mandatory cross-curriculum rendering-consistency rule — see Part 4. |
| 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 | Weapons and strongholds — spiritual warfare imagery | Paul, ministers; worldly arguments (contrast) | OT background: Psalm 18:2 (God as fortress); Proverbs 21:22 | Low-Medium. |
Chapter 11 — False Apostles, Super-Apostles, and the Serpent’s Cunning
| 2 Cor. Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Corinthians 11:2 | Betrothed as a pure virgin to one husband | The church (bride); Christ (bridegroom) | OT: Hosea 2:19-20; Isaiah 62:5; Jeremiah 2:2 | Medium. Marriage metaphor for exclusive devotion; must not be read as literal marital teaching. |
| 2 Corinthians 11:3 | The serpent deceived Eve by his cunning | Eve; the serpent; false teachers (application) | OT: Genesis 3:1-6, 13; NT: 1 Timothy 2:14 (direct parallel reference to Eve’s specific deception); contrast with Romans 5:12-14 (Adam-Christ typology, different emphasis) | Medium-High. Do not harmonize with Romans’ Adam typology — each carries its own distinct application (see Part 4). |
| 2 Corinthians 11:14 | Satan disguised as an angel of light | Satan; false apostles | OT background: general angelology (Genesis 19; Judges 6); NT: Matthew 4:1-11 (Satan’s deceptive strategies) | High. Sensitive given Islamic angelology (Jibril/Gabriel); describes Satan’s counterfeit disguise only. |
| 2 Corinthians 11:5, 13 | False apostles; “super-apostles” | False apostles; Paul | NT: Matthew 7:15 (false prophets); 1 John 4:1 (test the spirits) | Critical. Compounds the baseline’s Critical apostle/rasul risk. |
Chapter 12 — Paradise, the Thorn in the Flesh, Power in Weakness
| 2 Cor. Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Corinthians 12:2-4 | Third heaven; paradise | Paul (speaking of himself in the third person) | OT/intertestamental background: Genesis 2:8-9 (Eden as paradise); Ezekiel 1 (visionary ascent); Daniel 7; NT: Luke 23:43 (“paradise”); Revelation 2:7 | Critical. “Firdaus” collides with the specific Qur’anic tiered-Jannah cosmology — mandatory teaching note every occurrence. |
| 2 Corinthians 12:7 | Thorn in the flesh; messenger of Satan | Paul; Satan’s agent | OT background: Numbers 33:55 (“thorns in your sides”); Ezekiel 28:24; direct thematic parallel: Job 1-2 (Satan afflicting a righteous man with divine permission) | Medium. Homonym flag: “utusan” collides with “ambassador” at 2 Corinthians 5:20. |
| 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 | ”My grace is sufficient”; boasting in weaknesses | Christ; Paul | NT: Romans 5:20 (grace abounding, a resonant though distinct pattern); Romans 8:26 (the Spirit helps in our weakness) | High. |
| 2 Corinthians 12:12 | Signs of a true apostle | Paul | OT background: Exodus 4:1-9 (Moses’ authenticating signs); NT: Acts 2:22; Hebrews 2:3-4 (signs accompanying apostolic proclamation) | Critical. |
Chapter 13 — Final Warnings, Self-Examination, Benediction
| 2 Cor. Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Corinthians 13:1 | ”Every charge must be established by two or three witnesses” | Paul (applying a legal principle to his upcoming visit) | OT: Deuteronomy 19:15; also Deuteronomy 17:6; NT: Matthew 18:16; 1 Timothy 5:19 | Low-Medium. |
| 2 Corinthians 13:5 | ”Examine yourselves… Christ in you” | Believers; Christ | NT parallel: 2 Corinthians 5:17 (“in Christ”); 1 Corinthians 11:28 (self-examination before the Lord’s Supper) | High. |
| 2 Corinthians 13:14 | Trinitarian benediction (grace, love, fellowship) | God the Father; Christ; Holy Spirit | OT background: Numbers 6:24-26 (the Aaronic priestly blessing pattern); NT: Romans 15:30, 33 (grace/peace benedictions); Matthew 28:19 (Trinitarian formula) | Critical. |
PART 2 — Messianic References Summary
| Passage | Messianic Claim | Contrast with Qur’anic Isa al-Masih |
|---|---|---|
| 2 Corinthians 1:19-20 | Christ is God’s “Yes” — the personal fulfillment-point of every OT promise | Isa is a prophet who transmits promises; he does not personally fulfill and embody them as their guarantor |
| 2 Corinthians 3:14 | Only “through Christ” is the veil over the old covenant removed | No Islamic analogue: Isa does not mediate covenant fulfillment or remove Mosaic “veiling” |
| 2 Corinthians 4:4 | Christ is “the image of God” | Direct affirmation of deity; categorically rejected of Isa in Islamic theology |
| 2 Corinthians 5:19 | ”God was in Christ” reconciling the world | Incarnation claim; rejected by tanzih theology |
| 2 Corinthians 5:21 | The sinless Christ was made sin for us, fulfilling the Suffering Servant pattern of Isaiah 53 | Denies both Christ’s sinless substitutionary death and the crucifixion itself (Qur’an 4:157) |
| 2 Corinthians 8:9 | Christ’s voluntary self-impoverishment for others’ enrichment | No parallel; Isa is not portrayed as making a soteriological self-sacrifice |
| 2 Corinthians 11:2 | Christ as the church’s exclusive bridegroom | No comparable bridal-covenant Christology in Islamic tradition |
| 2 Corinthians 13:14 | Christ named alongside God the Father and the Holy Spirit in a single benediction | Direct Trinitarian claim, the doctrine most explicitly and repeatedly rejected in the Qur’an (shirk) |
Every row above requires the same theologian-reviewed teaching note discipline already mandated in the baseline for messiah, son_of_god, incarnation, and holy_spirit.
PART 3 — Typology Summary
| Type (OT) | Antitype (NT) | 2 Corinthians Passage | Significance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Moses, veiled and fading in glory | Christ, unveiled and permanent in glory | 2 Corinthians 3:7-18 | Old covenant mediation was real but limited and fading; new covenant mediation through Christ is permanent and increasingly glorious. |
| Manna gathered/shared equally in the wilderness (Exodus 16) | The Corinthian-Macedonian mutual-sharing collection | 2 Corinthians 8:15 | God’s pattern of supplying and equalizing need among his covenant people continues in the new-covenant church’s generosity. |
| The Tabernacle, a temporary tent-dwelling for God’s presence | The believer’s mortal body, a temporary “tent,” and ultimately a permanent heavenly dwelling | 2 Corinthians 5:1-4 | Present bodily existence, like the Tabernacle, is provisional; permanence awaits the resurrection body. |
| The physical Jerusalem Temple, God’s dwelling among Israel | The corporate church, indwelt by the Spirit as “the temple of the living God” | 2 Corinthians 6:16 | God’s presence is now located in his gathered people, not a single building or site — a claim of continuity, not replacement of a discarded institution. |
| Eve, deceived by the serpent’s cunning (Genesis 3) | The Corinthian church, at risk of being deceived away from sincere devotion to Christ | 2 Corinthians 11:2-3 | A cautionary type: as the serpent’s cunning subverted the first woman’s loyalty, false teachers’ cunning threatens the church’s exclusive devotion to Christ. Note: this is a distinct typological application of Genesis 3 from Romans’ Adam-Christ typology (Romans 5:12-19), which instead contrasts Adam’s disobedience with Christ’s obedience. Both are legitimate, non-competing readings of the same narrative and must not be merged into a single teaching note. |
| The sinless Suffering Servant bearing others’ guilt (Isaiah 53) | Christ, “made to be sin” for us (2 Corinthians 5:21) | 2 Corinthians 5:21; 8:9 | Confirms the substitutionary shape of the atonement already established as Critical-risk doctrine in the baseline Romans package. |
PART 4 — Rendering-Consistency Rules for Shared Quotations and Allusions
The following rules govern cases where 2 Corinthians quotes, alludes to, or verbally parallels a passage already fixed by the baseline Romans Language Package, or a passage likely to recur in a future curriculum (e.g., 1 Corinthians, Galatians). These rules bind Phase 2 output and must be checked at validation.
-
Psalm 32:1-2 / non-imputation of sin — Romans 4:7-8 quotes Psalm 32:1-2 using the λογίζομαι (“reckon/count”) root; 2 Corinthians 5:19’s “not counting their trespasses” (μὴ λογιζόμενος) uses the identical root. Both must use the “memperhitungkan” word family in Indonesian — “tidak memperhitungkan” for non-imputation of sin — exactly paralleling the baseline’s “kebenaran yang diperhitungkan” for the positive imputation of righteousness. Do not substitute unrelated verbs (e.g., “menganggap,” “menilai”) in either book.
-
Romans 7:6 / 2 Corinthians 3:6 — letter and Spirit — Both passages set γράμμα (“the letter”) against πνεῦμα (“the Spirit”) in verbally identical antithesis. Render γράμμα consistently as “hukum yang tertulis” (or, where terser phrasing is required, “yang tertulis”) and πνεῦμα as “Roh” in both books. If Romans 7:6 is revisited in any future package update, it must match this 2 Corinthians rendering, not diverge from it.
-
Jeremiah 9:23-24 / boasting in the Lord — Quoted identically in 1 Corinthians 1:31 and 2 Corinthians 10:17, and thematically echoed in Romans 5:11. Lock the OT quotation’s Indonesian wording across every curriculum in which it recurs: “Barangsiapa hendak bermegah, baiklah ia bermegah di dalam Tuhan” (following established TB idiom). The verb root “bermegah” (boast) must be used consistently for καυχάομαι/καύχησις throughout this package and any future package covering 1 Corinthians or Romans revisions.
-
Genesis 15:6 / imputed righteousness family — The baseline’s
imputed_righteousness(kebenaran yang diperhitungkan, Romans 4:3) and 2 Corinthians 5:19/5:21’s non-imputation and “become the righteousness of God” language are the same forensic-accounting doctrine viewed from two angles (crediting righteousness; not-crediting sin). Both directions must share the “memperhitungkan” root, and both must retain the explicit rejection of “pahala yang dikumpulkan” (merit accumulated through deeds) as their doctrinal opposite, per the baseline’s alternatives_rejected note. -
2 Samuel 7:14 / Davidic covenant sonship — Underlies both Romans 1:3 (“keturunan Daud”) and 2 Corinthians 6:18 (“sons and daughters… says the Lord Almighty”). The “anak-anak” (sons/daughters) language at 2 Corinthians 6:18 must be explicitly tied back to the same covenant-sonship framework already anchored by keturunan Daud and the baseline
adoption/fatherterms — not introduced as an unrelated, freestanding image. -
Isaiah 49:8 / “day of salvation” — 2 Corinthians 6:2 quotes this directly. “Keselamatan” (the baseline Critical-risk
salvationterm) must be retained in full; do not substitute a generic “hari pertolongan” (day of help) that would drop the Critical salvation vocabulary and its required doctrinal framing. -
Ezekiel 36:26 / Jeremiah 31:33 / heart-tablets — Background to both 2 Corinthians 3:3 (“tablets of human hearts”) and Romans 2:15 (“the law written on their hearts”). Use a consistent “loh hati” (tablet of the heart) rendering across both books’ allusions, and keep it distinct from “hati nurani” (conscience), which serves a different, narrower sense at 2 Corinthians 1:12; 4:2; 5:11.
-
Isaiah 53 / substitutionary Servant language — Background to Romans 4:25 and to 2 Corinthians 5:21 and 8:9. Substitution vocabulary (“untuk kita,” “ganti kita”) must carry consistent theological weight in both books, reinforcing rather than diluting the Critical-risk substitutionary-atonement framing already fixed for Romans 5 in the baseline.
-
Genesis 3 / the serpent narrative — Keep “ular” (serpent) as the consistent rendering across 2 Corinthians 11:3 and any future treatment of Romans 5:12-14’s Adam typology. Do NOT harmonize the two passages’ applications into a single teaching note: Romans reads Genesis 3 through Adam’s disobedience contrasted with Christ’s obedience; 2 Corinthians reads it through Eve’s deception as a warning against being led astray by false teachers. Each application must retain its own contextual framing.
-
Trinitarian benedictions — 2 Corinthians 13:14 (“anugerah… kasih… persekutuan”) must use the baseline’s exact established renderings for grace (anugerah), love (kasih), and fellowship (persekutuan), and must receive the same Critical-tier review the baseline mandates whenever Father, Son, and Spirit are named together in a single formula (cf. Romans 15:30, 33).
-
Romans 14:10 / 2 Corinthians 5:10 — judgment seat — Both use “the judgment seat of Christ/God” (βῆμα). Render consistently as “takhta pengadilan” in both books, with the same distinguishing note that this evaluates believers’ ministry/reward, not entry into salvation, distinct from the Islamic mizan framework.
-
Galatians 6:15 / 2 Corinthians 5:17 — “new creation” — Both use the identical Greek phrase καινὴ κτίσις. This package fixes “ciptaan baru” as the rendering for 2 Corinthians 5:17; any future Galatians curriculum package must reuse “ciptaan baru” exactly, with the same Critical-risk theologian-reviewed teaching note distinguishing it from Islamic tazkiyah/fitrah restoration.
-
Romans 15:26 / 2 Corinthians 8-9 — the Jerusalem collection — These are not merely thematically similar but refer to the same historical collection project. Any narrative material or footnotes describing the collection in either curriculum must remain historically and terminologically consistent (same recipient — “orang-orang kudus di Yerusalem” — same descriptive vocabulary for the offering).
Summary Observations
- Every chapter of 2 Corinthians (1–13) contains at least one identifiable OT quotation, allusion, or NT-parallel cross-reference; none is a doctrinal or intertextual blank.
- The core passage (5:11–21) is unusually dense in cross-references: it alone contains direct or near-direct links to Psalm 32:1-2 (via Romans 4:7-8), Isaiah 53, Isaiah 43/65, and Romans 5:6-11, 18-19 — making it the correct theological anchor for the whole curriculum, consistent with the PRD’s core-passage design.
- Thirteen specific rendering-consistency rules have been identified where a 2 Corinthians rendering must either match an existing baseline Romans rendering exactly, or be locked now for a future curriculum (Galatians, 1 Corinthians) to match later.
- Three passages (2 Corinthians 5:17 par. Galatians 6:15; 2 Corinthians 8-9 par. Romans 15:26; 2 Corinthians 10:17 par. 1 Corinthians 1:31) are not simply parallel but textually/historically identical or near-identical to material outside Romans, and should be flagged to whoever manages future non-Romans curricula in this pipeline.
- No chapter was found to be a cross-reference “blank” — chapters with comparatively thinner doctrinal load (e.g., ch. 2, ch. 7, ch. 13’s opening) still carry at least one Low-to-Medium risk cross-reference, recorded above rather than silently omitted.
