Doctrine Analysis

11 — Doctrine Analysis: Revelation (English → Arabic)

Purpose

This document maps every doctrine identified in doctrine_risk_registry.json (Revelation edition) onto its supporting passages, chapter by chapter, across the entire book (Revelation 1–22). It is fully consistent with the registry: doctrine names, risk tiers, and review routing below are identical to those recorded there. No tier is altered here; this document exists to show where in the text each doctrine surfaces and to give translators a chapter-sequential view alongside the registry’s doctrine-sequential view.

Risk tiers and review routing follow the identical Critical/High/Medium/Low framework established in the Romans baseline doctrine_risk_registry.json:

  • Critical — Human theologian review required for every occurrence.
  • High — Human theologian review required.
  • Medium — Native speaker review recommended.
  • Low — Automated review sufficient.

Every chapter of Revelation is represented below. Chapters treated together (e.g. 2–3, 8–9, 15–16, 17–18) share unified doctrinal material and are grouped for clarity; no chapter is silently omitted.

Chapter-by-Chapter Doctrine Matrix

Chapter 1

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Inspiration of Scripture1:1-3, 1:9-11Highἀποκάλυψις must render as رؤيا/إعلان, never وحي (Islamic verbatim-dictation category); frame as unveiling of realities already true, not new dictation superseding Scripture.Human theologian
Sovereignty of God over History1:8Critical”Alpha and Omega,” “Almighty” (Pantokrator) — foundational to God’s throne-claim developed through the book.Human theologian
Deity of Christ1:8, 1:17-18Critical”the Living One,” Alpha/Omega applied to Christ — al-Hayy, al-Awwal, al-Akhir are named divine attributes (Allah’s 99 names); direct, unsoftened deity claim.Human theologian
Sonship of Christ1:13CriticalSon of Man vision inaugurates Christological identity developed throughout; must not be flattened to mere honorific.Human theologian
Lordship of Christ1:5Critical”ruler of kings on earth” — precursor to 17:14/19:16’s full title; ربّ-family claims must not be softened.Human theologian
Resurrection of Christ1:5, 1:17-18Critical”firstborn from the dead,” “keys of Death and Hades” presuppose real death and rising; requires baseline crucifixion-affirmation scaffolding before any resurrection vocabulary functions historically.Human theologian
Seven Spirits and Trinitarian Worship1:4-5High”seven Spirits” is symbolic sevenfold fullness of the one Holy Spirit, not multiple divine persons; must be disambiguated at first occurrence given existing Trinitarian-plurality polemics.Human theologian
Liturgical Worship Expressions1:6-7LowOpening doxology and “so shall it be, Amen”; established transliterated vocabulary.Automated review

Chapters 2–3 (Letters to the Seven Churches)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution2:10, 2:13, 3:10High”overcomer” (ho nikōn) risks reading as literal conquest given the book’s war imagery; anchor to non-violent, testimony-based victory.Human theologian
Faith2:13, 2:19HighAntioch’s “faithful” (pistos) language must be anchored to trust in Christ specifically, not generic piety.Human theologian
Resurrection of Christ2:8Critical”who died and came to life” — Smyrna’s letter restates the crucifixion/resurrection pattern requiring the same apologetic scaffolding.Human theologian
Sin and the Curse2:5, 2:16, 2:21-22 (repentance calls)HighRepentance language presupposes real, personal moral guilt, contrary to fitrah’s presumption of innate purity.Human theologian
Tree of Life and Removal of the Curse2:7 (first mention)MediumIntroduces the promise later completed in 22:2, 14; contrast with the Quran’s forbidden “tree of immortality” (Q20:120) should be flagged for later reinforcement, not fully resolved here.Native speaker review
Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints2:11 (second death, first mention)CriticalFirst occurrence of “second death” vocabulary requiring definition before its full development in 20-21.Human theologian
Davidic Covenant3:7High”key of David” claims covenant-fulfillment authority; Dawud’s Quranic portrayal lacks this typology and must be supplied.Human theologian
New Jerusalem and the Fulfillment of the Temple3:12HighFirst naming of “the new Jerusalem” — plant the theological referent early, distinct from القدس’s political sense.Human theologian
Inspiration of Scripture (testimony sense)3:14 (“the Amen, the faithful and true witness”)HighTitle anticipates the Critical “Faithful and True” title of 19:11; establish continuity.Human theologian

Chapters 4–5 (Throne Room Vision)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Sovereignty of God over History4:2-11Criticalالعرش is Allah’s own named Quranic Throne; establishing God’s throne here sets up the co-enthronement claim for the Lamb in ch. 5.Human theologian
Worship of the Lamb4:8-11, 5:6-14CriticalThe doctrinal center of the book: the Lamb receives προσκυνέω (سجود-root worship) alongside God the Father without qualification — the paradigm case of shirk if left unexplained.Human theologian
Deity of Christ5:13-14CriticalWorship “to him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb” together — unsoftened co-equal deity claim.Human theologian
Messianic Promise5:5Critical”Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David” — must actively correct, not assume neutral, al-Masih’s pre-loaded Quranic content.Human theologian
Davidic Covenant5:5HighRoot/offspring of David language requires the covenant-king typology absent from the Quranic Dawud.Human theologian
Seven Spirits and Trinitarian Worship4:5, 5:6HighReiterates the symbolic-fullness clarification from ch.1 in a worship context.Human theologian
Liturgical Worship Expressions4:8, 4:11, 5:9-13Low”Holy, holy, holy,” worthiness doxologies; established vocabulary.Automated review

Chapter 6 (First Six Seals)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints6:9-11CriticalSouls “under the altar” crying for vindication anticipate the Book of Life basis for final destiny developed in ch. 20-21.Human theologian
Testimony and Martyrdom6:9-11Critical”slain for the word of God and for the testimony” — must render descriptively (القتلى من أجل شهادتهم), not with the loaded شهيد gloss.Human theologian
Wrath of God and the Lamb6:16-17HighFirst explicit pairing of divine wrath with the Lamb; establish as personal, righteous, not impersonal cosmic retribution.Human theologian

Chapter 7 (The Sealed and the Great Multitude)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Unity of Israel and the Nations7:4-9High144,000/twelve tribes alongside the multi-ethnic multitude requires deliberate framing against contemporary إسرائيل political associations.Human theologian
Seal and Mark of Ownership7:2-8Highخَتْم carries “finality of prophetic office” resonance from khatam al-nabiyyin; here the sense is ownership/protection and must be disambiguated.Human theologian
Sainthood7:9-17HighThe great multitude is the corporate body of ordinary believers, not a venerated intercessory elite (contrast أولياء).Human theologian
Testimony and Martyrdom7:14Critical”washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb” — standing credited through Christ’s blood, never self-purification vocabulary.Human theologian
Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution7:14 (tribulation)HighEstablishes θλῖψις (الضيق) as the central vocabulary for enduring persecution developed through the book.Human theologian

Chapters 8–9 (Trumpet Judgments)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Wrath of God and the Lamb8:1-9:21HighTrumpet judgments extend the wrath vocabulary established in ch. 6; must remain personal and morally grounded, not fatalistic.Human theologian
Abyss and Demonic Powers under God’s Sovereignty9:1-11MediumThe Abyss (الهاوية) has no precise Islamic parallel; teach as a prison under God’s sovereign permission, not a rival power.Native speaker review
Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation8:7-9:21HighPlague-imagery (wormwood, locusts) is symbolic; must not invite speculative literal-contemporary-event identification.Human theologian

Chapter 10 (The Angel and the Scroll)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation10:1-7High”the mystery of God” (μυστήριον) — السر carries Sufi esoteric/bāṭin connotations; must be taught as disclosed, not secret initiate-only knowledge.Human theologian
Inspiration of Scripture10:8-11HighThe scroll’s sweetness/bitterness pictures the prophetic commission of writing what is shown, reinforcing non-dictation inspiration.Human theologian

Chapter 11 (The Two Witnesses and the Seventh Trumpet)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Testimony and Martyrdom11:3-13CriticalThe Two Witnesses’ death-and-vindication pattern must tie explicitly to Christ’s own resurrection pattern.Human theologian
Resurrection of Christ11:11-12CriticalThe witnesses’ rising requires the same crucifixion-affirmation scaffolding as Christ’s own resurrection to be intelligible as vindication, not resuscitation-myth.Human theologian
Kingdom of God Transferred to Christ’s Reign11:15Critical”the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ” — a compound deity/messianic claim; must not soften to unequal human-divine partnership.Human theologian
Lordship of Christ11:15CriticalJoint sovereignty declaration paired with “his Christ.”Human theologian
Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints11:18Critical”time to judge the dead” anticipates ch. 20’s fuller judgment scene.Human theologian

Chapter 12 (The Woman, the Child, and the Dragon)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Sovereignty of God over History12:1-17CriticalThe cosmic conflict narrative is under God’s ultimate control despite apparent chaos.Human theologian
Testimony and Martyrdom12:11, 12:17Critical”They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony” — the essential anchor-text preventing all overcomer vocabulary from being misread as endorsing believer-initiated violence.Human theologian
Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution12:11, 12:17HighSame anchor-text grounds perseverance in Christ’s finished work, not military resistance.Human theologian
Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil12:11CriticalConfident declaration of victory already secured, not pending or probabilistic.Human theologian
Abyss and Demonic Powers under God’s Sovereignty12:7-9MediumThe dragon (Satan) must be identified explicitly, not left as generic mythic imagery.Native speaker review

Chapter 13 (The Beast and the False Prophet)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Deception of the Beast and False Prophet13:1-18CriticalStrong parallel with, and risk of conflation with, al-Masih al-Dajjal (the Islamic Antichrist defeated by a returning, never-crucified Jesus per hadith); use as bridge, then correct via the crucifixion/resurrection basis of the Beast’s actual defeat in ch. 19.Human theologian
Seal and Mark of Ownership13:16-17HighThe mark of the beast is the negative counterpart to God’s protective seal (ch. 7); keep root-family senses distinct.Human theologian
Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation13:18 (666)HighNumerology must be taught symbolically, not as an invitation to speculative contemporary-figure identification.Human theologian
Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution13:10High”Here is a call for the endurance of the saints” under Beast-empire pressure.Human theologian

Chapter 14 (The Harvest and the Eternal Gospel)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Inspiration of Scripture (Gospel)14:6High”eternal gospel” extends الإنجيل’s baseline caution; reinforce non-abrogated, unchanging content against naskh (abrogation) assumptions.Human theologian
Testimony and Martyrdom14:12-13Critical”Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord” — vindication grounded in union with Christ, not manner of death.Human theologian
Sainthood14:12High”the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus” — corporate, non-elite designation.Human theologian
Wrath of God and the Lamb14:10, 14:19High”winepress of the wrath of God” — personal, righteous judgment, not impersonal retribution.Human theologian
Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints14:9-11CriticalWorship of the beast/image draws irrevocable judgment; destiny turns on allegiance, not a cumulative deeds-scale.Human theologian

Chapters 15–16 (Bowls of Wrath)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Wrath of God and the Lamb15:1, 15:7, 16:1-21High”the wrath of God is finished” (15:1) — the completeness of the final bowls must be preserved as definitively closed, not open-ended.Human theologian
Liturgical Worship Expressions15:3-4Low”Song of Moses and of the Lamb” — established doxological vocabulary.Automated review
Sovereignty of God over History16:17Critical”It is done” (Γέγοναν) — should echo, without merging into, John 19:30’s “It is finished.”Human theologian

Chapters 17–18 (Babylon the Great)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Babylon and Systemic Idolatry17:1-6, 18:1-24MediumDistinct from the Quran’s Babil/sorcery narrative (Q2:102); symbolizes a corrupt idolatrous world-system, and “idolatry” extends beyond literal images to Beast/state-power worship.Native speaker review
Deception of the Beast and False Prophet17:8-14CriticalThe Beast’s origin/destiny tied to the Book of Life theme; reinforce the crucifixion/resurrection basis of its ultimate defeat.Human theologian
Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation17:1-18HighThe woman/beast imagery is disclosed symbol requiring interpretation within the text itself (17:7, 9), not speculative decoding.Human theologian
Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints18:1-24CriticalBabylon’s fall is total and final judgment on systemic evil.Human theologian

Chapter 19 (The Rider on the White Horse and the Marriage Supper)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
The Return and Reign of Christ19:11-16CriticalThe returning King is identified by resurrection wounds and blood-stained robe, presupposing the crucifixion Islamic hadith tradition denies — correct the manner of victory, not merely affirm a return.Human theologian
Lordship of Christ19:16Critical”King of kings and Lord of lords” paired title echoes Malik al-Mulk (Q3:26); never soften to “master” or “a powerful ruler.”Human theologian
Messianic Promise19:11-16CriticalThe rider’s full Christological identity must actively correct al-Masih’s non-divine, non-crucified Quranic profile.Human theologian
Kingdom of God Transferred to Christ’s Reign19:6Critical”the Lord our God the Almighty reigns” doxology anticipates 11:15’s compound claim.Human theologian
Church as Bride of Christ19:7-9CriticalMarriage Supper of the Lamb — intimate covenant-bride imagery has no comparable concept under tanzih’s transcendence emphasis.Human theologian
Deception of the Beast and False Prophet19:19-20CriticalThe Beast’s actual defeat is grounded in the returning, resurrected Christ — the corrective climax of ch. 13/17’s bridge material.Human theologian
Liturgical Worship Expressions19:1-6Low”Hallelujah” refrain; established transliteration.Automated review
Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints19:20-21CriticalFinal defeat of Beast and False Prophet; destiny determined by allegiance to the Lamb.Human theologian

Chapter 20 (The Thousand Years and the Final Judgment)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Millennium and Christ’s Interim Reign20:1-6MediumPrimarily an internal Christian interpretive question; no directly corresponding Islamic eschatological concept, so requires positive explanation rather than correction.Native speaker review
Gog and Magog: History’s Final Rebellion20:7-10HighYa’juj wa-Ma’juj are named explicitly in the Quran (18:94; 21:96) with a different sequence tied to the Dajjal/Mahdi narrative; the parallel-and-difference must be taught explicitly.Human theologian
Abyss and Demonic Powers under God’s Sovereignty20:1-3, 20:7MediumThe dragon’s binding/release remains entirely under God’s permission, not a rival power.Native speaker review
Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil20:10CriticalThe devil’s final, irreversible defeat must be taught with full confidence, not hedged.Human theologian
Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints20:11-15CriticalThe great white throne judgment — final destiny turns on the Book of Life.Human theologian
The Book of Life and Final Judgment20:12-15HighDistinguish sharply from the Islamic Kitab/mizan deeds-register; belonging to Christ, not a cumulative moral tally, is the deciding basis.Human theologian
Resurrection of Christ (pattern extension)20:4-6 (first resurrection)CriticalThe “first resurrection” of the saints depends on Christ’s own historical resurrection as its pattern and guarantee.Human theologian

Chapter 21 (New Heaven, New Earth, and New Jerusalem — Core Passage 21:1-8; extended 21:9-27)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
The New Heaven and New Earth21:1-8, 21:22-27HighQualitative renewal (جديد) must not be read as replacement of God’s original creation project.Human theologian
Church as Bride of Christ21:2, 21:9Critical”the Bride, the wife of the Lamb” — no comparable concept exists under tanzih’s transcendence emphasis; must be actively taught, not assumed intuitive.Human theologian
New Jerusalem and the Fulfillment of the Temple21:2-3, 21:10-27Highأورشليم الجديدة is distinguished from القدس’s contemporary political sense; the absence of any هيكل must be framed as God’s own presence replacing the need for sacred structure/site, not a claim about a present-day location.Human theologian
Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil21:4Critical”He will wipe away every tear… no more death” — declared with full, unqualified assurance.Human theologian
Sovereignty of God over History21:5-6Critical”It is done… I am the Alpha and the Omega” — direct divine self-identification.Human theologian
Grace21:6HighWater of life given “without price” (مجانًا/بلا ثمن) stands in direct tension with a deeds-weighed (mizan) framework.Human theologian
Sonship of Christ21:7CriticalBeliever sonship (“he will be my son,” رendered ابنًا indefinite) must be kept sharply distinct from the reserved title ابن الله (Christ’s unique Sonship).Human theologian
Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints21:8, 21:27CriticalThe “second death” and exclusion from the Book of Life — destiny determined by belonging to Christ, not deeds-weighing.Human theologian
Faith21:8High”the unbelieving” (غير المؤمنين) must be explicitly anchored to unbelief toward Christ, not left as a bare الكافرون (a loaded Islamic religious-judgment label).Human theologian
Unity of Israel and the Nations21:12, 21:24-26HighTwelve gates and the nations bringing their glory require the same pastoral care as ch. 7’s tribes material regarding contemporary إسرائيل associations.Human theologian
Sin and the Curse21:27HighNothing unclean may enter — presupposes the baseline’s sin doctrine against fitrah’s denial of an inherited fall/curse.Human theologian

Chapter 22 (The River of Life, the Tree of Life, and the Return of Christ)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation Risk (Grounded Reason)Review Routing
Tree of Life and Removal of the Curse22:2-3, 22:14MediumContrasts with the Quran’s forbidden “tree of immortality” (Q20:120); Revelation’s tree is a freely-given healing gift reversing, not repeating, Eden’s temptation.Native speaker review
Sin and the Curse22:3High”No longer any curse” — completes the promise introduced in 21:27.Human theologian
Worship of the Lamb22:3, 22:8-9Critical”his servants will worship him” alongside the refusal of angel-worship (22:8-9) offers a pastoral bridge distinguishing legitimate from illegitimate worship, without softening the Lamb’s own worthiness.Human theologian
The Return and Reign of Christ22:7, 22:12, 22:20Critical”Behold, I am coming soon” and “Come, Lord Jesus” — eschatological counterpart to Romans 10:9’s Lordship confession; no softening permitted.Human theologian
Lordship of Christ22:20-21CriticalClosing confession and grace benediction must render with the same non-negotiable consistency as 10:9.Human theologian
Davidic Covenant22:16High”the Root and the Descendant of David” — final covenant-fulfillment claim of the book.Human theologian
Messianic Promise22:16Critical”the bright morning star” self-title reinforces messianic identity against competing Quranic content.Human theologian
Inspiration of Scripture22:18-19HighThe warning against altering “the words of this prophecy” must be framed as canonical closure, not an implicit claim of superseding earlier revelation (avoiding a naskh-style reading).Human theologian
Grace22:17, 22:21High”Let the one who is thirsty come… take the water of life without price”; closing benediction of grace — apart from merit, consistent with 21:6.Human theologian
Liturgical Worship Expressions22:20-21LowClosing “Amen” and grace benediction; established vocabulary.Automated review

Full-Book Coverage Confirmation

Every chapter of Revelation (1–22) has been reviewed above and contributes at least one doctrine from the registry, either as a first occurrence or as a documented extension of a doctrine introduced elsewhere. No chapter is silently omitted. Chapter groupings (2–3, 4–5, 8–9, 15–16, 17–18) reflect natural thematic units (letters to the churches, throne-room vision, trumpet judgments, bowl judgments, Babylon’s fall) and do not indicate reduced scrutiny — each grouped chapter is individually represented in its supporting-passage citations.

This document extends, and never contradicts, the Revelation doctrine_risk_registry.json and the baseline Romans doctrine_risk_registry.json. Risk tiers and review routing recorded here are identical to those in the registry; this file exists solely to provide chapter-sequential navigation for translators and reviewers.

Critical Risk Doctrines

Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil

Arabic name: التأكد من انتصار الله النهائي على الشر
Key terms: it is done, no more death, wipe away every tear, the devil thrown into the lake of fire
Review routing: Human theologian

Mainstream Sunni piety treats certainty about final spiritual outcomes as presumptuous, since only Allah knows the outcome on the mizan; Revelation’s confident, already-secured declarations of final victory (culminating in Γέγοναν, ‘it is done’) must be taught with full assurance, not hedged into a probabilistic or pending framing, directly extending the baseline’s assurance_of_salvation caution.

The Church as Bride of Christ

Arabic name: الكنيسة عروس المسيح
Key terms: bride, marriage supper of the Lamb, adorned, the Spirit and the Bride say Come
Review routing: Human theologian

No comparable concept exists in Islamic theology of the redeemed community as an intimate covenant-bride of God/Christ; tanzih’s emphasis on divine transcendence makes marital-covenant intimacy applied to the Creator/Christ theologically unthinkable in that framework and must be actively taught, not assumed intuitive.

Deception of the Beast and False Prophet

Arabic name: خداع الوحش والنبي الكذاب
Key terms: the beast, false prophet, mark of the beast, worship the image
Review routing: Human theologian

The Beast strongly parallels, and risks conflation with, al-Masih al-Dajjal, the Islamic Antichrist figure hadith holds is defeated by a returning, never-crucified Jesus; this is a genuine apologetic bridge that must be used to correct rather than avoid, since the manner of the Beast’s defeat in Revelation 19 is grounded in the crucifixion/resurrection Islamic tradition denies.

Deity of Christ

Arabic name: لاهوت المسيح
Key terms: Alpha and Omega, First and Last, the Living One, throne, worthy of worship
Review routing: Human theologian

Al-Awwal, al-Akhir, and al-Hayy are named among Allah’s ninety-nine names; their direct application to Jesus throughout Revelation is the paradigm case of shirk from an Islamic standpoint and must never be softened to ‘a great and honored man’ or ‘a divine messenger.‘

Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints

Arabic name: دينونة الأشرار وتبرير القديسين
Key terms: souls under the altar, second death, lake of fire, book of life, judgment
Review routing: Human theologian

Mainstream Islamic eschatology weighs each soul’s deeds on the mizan at Judgment Day with no assured prior outcome; Revelation grounds final destiny in whether one’s name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life (a matter of belonging through Christ), which must be taught as the deciding basis rather than a cumulative deeds tally.

The Kingdom of God Transferred to Christ’s Reign

Arabic name: انتقال ملكوت العالم إلى ملك المسيح
Key terms: the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ
Review routing: Human theologian

The joint declaration that world-sovereignty belongs equally to ‘our Lord’ and ‘his Christ (Messiah)’ is a compound deity/messianic claim exceeding a simple restoration-of-kingship image; must be taught together with the baseline’s lordship_of_christ and messianic_promise Critical cautions, never softened to a shared human-and-divine partnership of unequal status.

Lordship of Christ

Arabic name: ربوبية المسيح
Key terms: Lord, King of kings and Lord of lords, Come, Lord Jesus
Review routing: Human theologian

الرب is a defining title of Allah; its climactic pairing with مَلِك الملوك (echoing Allah’s Quranic title Malik al-Mulk, Q3:26) at Christ’s return is the book’s most direct superlative sovereignty/deity claim and must never be softened to ‘master’ or ‘a powerful ruler.‘

Messianic Promise

Arabic name: الوعد المسيحاني
Key terms: Christ, root of David, Lamb, kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ
Review routing: Human theologian

Al-Masih is ‘Isa al-Masih’s own Quranic title, already loaded with a competing narrative (honored prophet, not divine, not crucified, not risen); every occurrence, especially the joint-sovereignty declaration of 11:15, must actively correct rather than assume this pre-loaded content.

Resurrection of Christ

Arabic name: قيامة المسيح
Key terms: the Living One, keys of Death and Hades, firstborn from the dead, resurrection
Review routing: Human theologian

Mainstream Islamic doctrine (Quran 4:157) denies Jesus was crucified at all; Christ’s self-titles as ‘the Living One’ and holder of ‘the keys of Death and Hades’ presuppose a real death and resurrection and require the same apologetic scaffolding as the Romans baseline before they have any historical referent.

The Return and Reign of Christ

Arabic name: رجوع المسيح وملكه
Key terms: king of kings, lord of lords, come Lord Jesus, the rider on the white horse, reign with him
Review routing: Human theologian

Islamic hadith affirms a return of ‘Isa but holds he was never crucified, will descend to break crosses and vindicate Islam, and defeat al-Dajjal without reference to his own atoning death; Revelation’s returning King is identified by his resurrection wounds and blood-stained robe (19:13), directly presupposing the crucifixion. The manner of victory, not merely the fact of a return, must be corrected.

Sonship of Christ

Arabic name: بنوة المسيح
Key terms: Son of God, Son of Man, my Son
Review routing: Human theologian

The Quran states directly that Allah ‘does not beget nor is He begotten’ (112:3); Christ’s unique Sonship, presupposed throughout Revelation’s Christology, must be kept sharply distinct from the generic believer-sonship of 21:7 (rendered indefinitely, ابنًا) to avoid diluting the reserved title ابن الله.

The Sovereignty of God over History

Arabic name: سيادة الله على التاريخ
Key terms: throne, Almighty, Alpha and Omega, seals, it is done
Review routing: Human theologian

العرش is the specific named Throne of Allah in Quranic cosmology; Revelation’s repeated depiction of the Lamb sharing this same throne (5:6, 13; 22:1, 3) makes God’s sovereignty over history inseparable from a co-equal deity claim for Christ that must never be softened to mere delegated authority.

Testimony and Martyrdom

Arabic name: الشهادة والاستشهاد من أجل المسيح
Key terms: testimony of Jesus, souls slain for the word of God, washed in the blood of the Lamb
Review routing: Human theologian

شهيد in standard Arabic usage denotes a warrior who dies in jihad/battle with assured, un-judged entry to Paradise, a distinct soteriological category; Christian death for verbal testimony to Christ, vindicated by Christ’s finished work rather than by the manner of death, must be taught with a descriptive phrase (القتلى من أجل شهادتهم) rather than a bare شهيد gloss.

Worship of the Lamb

Arabic name: السجود للخروف
Key terms: Lamb, worship, worthy, slain, holy holy holy
Review routing: Human theologian

يسجد/السجود shares its root with the specific prostration of Muslim salah, and giving such worship to anyone but Allah is shirk, Islam’s gravest sin; Revelation 5’s central claim that the Lamb legitimately receives the worship due to God alone is the doctrinal heart of the whole book and must never be softened, though 22:8-9’s refusal of angel-worship offers a valuable pastoral bridge distinguishing legitimate from illegitimate worship.

High Risk Doctrines

The Book of Life and Final Judgment

Arabic name: كتاب الحياة والدينونة الأخيرة
Key terms: book of life, books were opened, judged according to what they had done
Review routing: Human theologian

Distinguish sharply from the Islamic Kitab, the register of deeds weighed at judgment (Q17:13-14; Q18:49): Revelation’s Book of Life records names/belonging to Christ, while separate ‘books’ record deeds only for those not found in it; security is anchored in belonging, not a cumulative moral tally.

Davidic Covenant

Arabic name: العهد الداودي
Key terms: key of David, root and offspring of David
Review routing: Human theologian

Dawud is a shared, positively-regarded Quranic prophet-king, but the Quranic portrayal carries none of the covenant-king typology pointing forward to a promised messianic heir; this background must be taught, not assumed, when Christ claims David’s key and root.

Faith

Arabic name: الإيمان
Key terms: faith, the unbelieving, faithful
Review routing: Human theologian

غير المؤمنين (21:8) must be explicitly anchored to unbelief toward Christ rather than left as a bare الكافرون, a loaded religious-judgment label in everyday Arabic Islamic usage referring to rejecters of Islam specifically.

Gog and Magog: History’s Final Rebellion

Arabic name: يأجوج ومأجوج: التمرد الأخير في التاريخ
Key terms: Gog and Magog, the nations gathered for battle
Review routing: Human theologian

Ya’juj wa-Ma’juj are named explicitly in the Quran (18:94; 21:96) as an apocalyptic destructive horde, a strong shared vocabulary item, but developed Islamic eschatology places their barrier-breach earlier in the end-times sequence, tied to the Dajjal/Mahdi narrative, rather than after a millennial reign as in Revelation; the parallel-and-difference must be taught explicitly, not assumed identical.

Grace

Arabic name: النعمة
Key terms: grace, given freely, without price
Review routing: Human theologian

The water of life given مجانًا/بلا ثمن and the closing benediction of grace stand in direct tension with a deeds-weighed (mizan) framework for final destiny; Islamic fadl and rahmah both function as favor responsive to obedience, so grace here must be reinforced as given wholly apart from merit.

Inspiration of Scripture

Arabic name: وحي الكتاب المقدس
Key terms: revelation, write this, words of this prophecy, testimony
Review routing: Human theologian

Islamic wahy denotes verbatim divine dictation, the Quran’s own claimed mode of revelation; ἀποκάλυψις must be rendered رؤيا/إعلان (never وحي) to convey an unveiling of realities already true in heaven communicated through Christ, and the closing warning against altering ‘the words of this prophecy’ should be framed as canonical closure, not an implicit claim of superseding earlier revelation.

New Jerusalem and the Fulfillment of the Temple

Arabic name: أورشليم الجديدة وتحقيق الهيكل
Key terms: New Jerusalem, no temple, the Lord God and the Lamb are its temple
Review routing: Human theologian

أورشليم الجديدة is distinguished by established Bible tradition from القدس, the modern city’s everyday/political name; given the contested status of sacred sites on the historical Temple Mount/al-Haram al-Sharif in contemporary discourse, the absence of any ناوس/هيكل in the New Jerusalem must be framed pastorally as God’s own direct presence replacing the need for any sacred structure or site, not a claim about a present-day location.

Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution

Arabic name: الثبات والشهادة الأمينة تحت الاضطهاد
Key terms: overcomer, testimony, tribulation, endurance, they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb
Review routing: Human theologian

الشهادة is also the core word of الشهادتين, Islam’s creedal confession, and الغالب risks being read through the lens of jihad/battlefield conquest vocabulary given Revelation’s extensive war imagery; every occurrence must anchor victory to the Lamb’s blood and verbal testimony (12:11), never to believer-initiated violence.

Sainthood (The Saints Under Persecution)

Arabic name: قداسة القديسين تحت الاضطهاد
Key terms: saints, holy ones, prayers of the saints
Review routing: Human theologian

All believers under persecution are saints; القديسون must not be rendered with vocabulary evoking أولياء (Sufi ‘friends of God’), a venerated, shrine-intercession class distinct from the corporate, non-hierarchical body of ordinary believers depicted throughout Revelation.

Seal and Mark of Ownership

Arabic name: ختم الله وعلامة الوحش
Key terms: seal of God, mark of the beast, sealed on the forehead
Review routing: Human theologian

خَتْم carries strong ‘finality of prophetic office’ resonance from khatam al-nabiyyin (Muhammad as ‘Seal of the Prophets’); the ownership/protection sense of God’s seal on his servants must be explicitly disambiguated from that finality sense, and kept distinct from the negative mark of the beast (same root family, opposite referent).

Seven Spirits and Trinitarian Worship

Arabic name: الأرواح السبعة والعبادة الثالوثية
Key terms: seven Spirits of God, grace and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits
Review routing: Human theologian

Must be explicitly taught as symbolic sevenfold fullness of the one Holy Spirit’s ministry, not a multiplication of divine persons; this clarification is especially important given how sensitive claims of divine plurality already are in Islamic polemic against the Trinity.

Sin and the Curse

Arabic name: الخطية واللعنة
Key terms: sin, curse, no longer any curse
Review routing: Human theologian

Islamic fitrah anthropology holds each person is born in a state of natural purity and has no concept of an ongoing inherited curse from Adam; the eschatological removal of the curse (22:3) presupposes the baseline’s sin doctrine and must be taught explicitly, not assumed as shared ground.

Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation

Arabic name: التفسير الرمزي والرؤيوي
Key terms: mystery, seven, 666, Babylon, the woman, the beast
Review routing: Human theologian

السر carries Sufi esoteric-knowledge (batin) connotations that could suggest hidden meaning reserved for spiritual initiates; Revelation’s symbols are disclosed mystery, meant to be understood by the whole believing community, and numerology (especially 666) must be taught symbolically rather than invite speculative contemporary-figure identification.

The New Heaven and New Earth

Arabic name: السماء الجديدة والأرض الجديدة
Key terms: new heaven and new earth, no more sea, New Jerusalem, no more death, tree of life
Review routing: Human theologian

The qualitative renewal (جديد) of the created order must not be read as replacement of God’s original creation project, nor should أورشليم الجديدة be read through the contemporary political weight carried by القدس; this is a symbolic/eschatological reality, not a statement about a present-day city or territory.

Unity of Israel and the Nations

Arabic name: وحدة إسرائيل والأمم
Key terms: twelve tribes, 144,000, twelve gates, every tribe and tongue and people and nation
Review routing: Human theologian

In contemporary spoken Arabic إسرائيل is overwhelmingly associated with the modern nation-state and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; the symbolic 144,000/twelve tribes and the New Jerusalem’s twelve gates require deliberate pastoral framing to keep the text from being read as a statement on the present conflict.

Wrath of God and the Lamb

Arabic name: غضب الله والخروف
Key terms: wrath of the Lamb, winepress of the wrath of God, bowls of God’s wrath
Review routing: Human theologian

Must be taught as the personal, righteous response of a holy God to sin rather than impersonal cosmic retribution or a fatalistic qadar-style decree detached from moral cause; the completeness of the final bowls (15:1, ‘the wrath of God is finished’) should be preserved as definitively closed, not open-ended.

Medium Risk Doctrines

The Abyss and Demonic Powers Under God’s Sovereignty

Arabic name: الهاوية والقوى الشيطانية تحت سيادة الله
Key terms: abyss, bottomless pit, the dragon bound
Review routing: Native speaker review

No precise Islamic parallel exists; the Abyss must be taught as a prison under God’s sovereign control, released only by his permission, reinforcing Sovereignty of God over History even over apparent chaos, not a rival independent power.

Babylon and Systemic Idolatry

Arabic name: بابل والعبادة الوثنية النظامية
Key terms: Babylon the great, the great prostitute, idolaters
Review routing: Native speaker review

بابل العظيمة is distinct from the Quran’s Babil/sorcery narrative (Q2:102); it symbolizes a corrupt, idolatrous world-system rather than the literal ancient city, and ‘idolatry’ here extends to Beast/state-power worship, a broader category than literal images, which resonates with but exceeds Islamic anti-shirk teaching.

Millennium and Christ’s Interim Reign

Arabic name: الألف سنة وملك المسيح
Key terms: a thousand years, they will reign with him
Review routing: Native speaker review

Primarily an internal Christian interpretive question (literal, symbolic, or already-inaugurated); Islamic eschatology has no directly corresponding millennium concept, so this requires positive explanation rather than correction of a competing claim.

Tree of Life and the Removal of the Curse

Arabic name: شجرة الحياة وإزالة اللعنة
Key terms: tree of life, no longer any curse, healing of the nations
Review routing: Native speaker review

The Quran’s ‘tree of immortality’ (Q20:120) is a forbidden tree deceptively offered by Iblis to Adam; Revelation’s tree of life is God’s own good, freely-given eschatological gift reversing rather than repeating the Eden temptation, and this contrast should be taught explicitly.

Low Risk Doctrines

Liturgical Worship Expressions (Amen, Hallelujah, Doxology)

Arabic name: تعبيرات العبادة الليتورجية (آمين، هللويا، التسبيح)
Key terms: Amen, Hallelujah, worthy is the Lamb, blessing and honor and glory and power
Review routing: Automated review

Established, low-ambiguity transliterated liturgical vocabulary shared across Arabic Christian tradition; no significant doctrinal collision beyond standard transliteration consistency.
