Core Glossary
Core Glossary — 2 Corinthians (English → Dogri)
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, covering the entire book of 2 Corinthians (chapters 1-13, with 5:11-21 as the theological anchor passage). It is organized in two parts:
- Part A — Reused Baseline Terms: terms already established in the Romans
translation_memory.json/bible_term_registry.jsonthat recur in 2 Corinthians. These renderings are locked and must be reused exactly; no new decision is required, but each is cited here with its 2 Corinthians occurrence(s) for coverage completeness. - Part B — New Terms Introduced in 2 Corinthians: terms with no prior baseline entry, newly analyzed for this curriculum, organized by the eight named doctrines. These must be added to an updated
translation_memory.json(version increment) and, where Critical/High, to an updateddoctrine_risk_registry.jsonbefore Phase 2 translation begins.
All Dogri renderings are in Devanagari script, formal register, consistent with the baseline’s established conventions.

Part B — New Terms Introduced in 2 Corinthians (By Doctrine)
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God
| Term (Eng) | Greek (Translit.) | Dogri Rendering | Chapter(s) | Risk | Notes / Rejected Alternatives |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| reconciliation | καταλλαγή (katallagē) | मेल-मिलाप | 5:18-19 | Critical | Rejected: any phrase built on मनाना (“to placate/appease a deity,” as at the Bahu Fort Kali shrine or via Vaishno Devi vows) — direction of action is reversed: God reconciles humanity to himself; humanity does not appease God. |
| to reconcile | καταλλάσσω (katallassō) | मेल कराना / मेल होना | 5:18-20 | Critical | Same guard as above. Passive imperative in 5:20 (“be reconciled”) must read as receiving, not achieving, reconciliation. |
| ministry of reconciliation | διακονία τῆς καταλλαγῆς (diakonia tēs katallagēs) | मेल-मिलाप दी सेवा | 5:18 | Critical | Compound of new “reconciliation” + new “ministry” (see below) terms. |
| word/message of reconciliation | λόγος τῆς καταλλαγῆς (logos tēs katallagēs) | मेल-मिलाप दी खबर | 5:19 | High | Keep terminologically linked to मेल-मिलाप and to बेसलाइन’s खरी खबर without collapsing the two into one word. |
| not counting/imputing [trespasses] | μὴ λογιζόμενος (mē logizomenos) | पाप गिनदे नेईं | 5:19 | Critical | Negative counterpart of baseline’s गिनी गेई धरमीपन; same forensic-accounting logic, applied negatively. Must not be read as karmic ledger-erasure through merit. |
| one died for all | εἷς ὑπὲρ πάντων ἀπέθανεν (heis hyper pantōn apethanen) | इक जन सारें आस्तै मरा | 5:14 | Critical | Universal, unqualified — no caste/lineage/izzat-rank exception. |
| judgment seat of Christ | βῆμα τοῦ Χριστοῦ (bēma tou Christou) | मसीह दी अदालत/न्याय-आसन | 5:10 | High | Must not be confused with the forensic declaration of justification (already settled); this is evaluation of works/reward, not a second salvation-trial. |
| restore/be complete (community reconciliation) | καταρτίζεσθε (katartizesthe) | दुरुस्त/पूरे बनो | 13:11 | Medium | Closing appeal echoing the reconciliation theme at the congregational level. |
Doctrine: New Creation in Christ
| Term (Eng) | Greek (Translit.) | Dogri Rendering | Chapter(s) | Risk | Notes / Rejected Alternatives |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| new creation | καινὴ κτίσις (kainē ktisis) | नमीं सृष्टि | 5:17 | Critical | Rejected: any phrasing evoking the cyclical Hindu cosmological srishti/pralaya (creation-dissolution) pattern; rejected: पुनर्जन्म (reincarnation, per baseline). Must be linear, decisive, once-for-all. |
| the old passed away, the new has come | τὰ ἀρχαῖα παρῆλθεν… καινά (ta archaia parēlthen… kaina) | पुराणी गल्लां बीत गेइयां, नमीं गल्लां आई गेइयां | 5:17 | High | Same collision guard as above. |
| according to the flesh | κατὰ σάρκα (kata sarka) | जिस्म मुताबक / दुनियावी नजरिये कन्नै | 5:16 | High | Directly confronts Dogra Rajput lineage-honor (izzat) evaluation criteria; identity no longer assessed by birth-status. |
| Christ in you | Χριστὸς ἐν ὑμῖν (Christos en hymin) | तुसां च मसीह | 13:5 | High | Ties to baseline’s “Christian Identity in Christ”; reuses मसीह exactly. |
Doctrine: Suffering and Comfort in Ministry
| Term (Eng) | Greek (Translit.) | Dogri Rendering | Chapter(s) | Risk | Notes / Rejected Alternatives |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| comfort/consolation | παράκλησις (paraklēsis) | दिलासा | 1:3-7; 7:4, 6-7, 13 | Medium | Distinct from baseline’s हौसला देना (encourage-to-action sense of the same root); दिलासा is specifically comfort-in-suffering. |
| affliction/suffering | θλῖψις (thlipsis) | दुख-तकलीफ | 1:4, 8; 2:4; 4:17; 6:4; 7:4; 8:2, 13 | Medium | Rejected: क्लेश (loaded with yogic/Buddhist “afflictions binding to karmic cycle” philosophy); this is real historical hardship, not a metaphysical bondage-state. |
| sufferings of Christ | παθήματα τοῦ Χριστοῦ (pathēmata tou Christou) | मसीह दे दुख | 1:5 | Medium | Not to be assimilated to the local Baba Jitto folk-martyr self-sacrifice tradition; this is participatory union with Christ’s own suffering. |
| carrying the death of Jesus in the body | νέκρωσις τοῦ Ἰησοῦ (nekrōsis tou Iēsou) | यीशु दा मरना (जिस्म च चुक्कना) | 4:10 | Medium-High | Distinct from local self-sacrifice commemoration (Aghar Jitto / Jitto Da Mela); participatory identification with Christ’s unique atoning death. |
| afflicted, perplexed, persecuted, struck down | θλιβόμενοι, στενοχωρούμενοι, διωκόμενοι, καταβαλλόμενοι | दुख-तकलीफ + specific verbs (घेरना, सताना, सुट्टना) | 4:8-9 | Medium | Descriptive catalogue; consistency with the affliction term above. |
| earthly tent / house not made with hands | σκῆνος / ἐπίγειος οἰκία | धरती दा डेरा/घर | 5:1, 4 | Medium | Mortality is transition, not annihilation; anticipates bodily resurrection (reuses baseline resurrection term). |
| naked (disembodied state) | γυμνοί (gymnoi) | नंगे | 5:3 | Medium | Not to be read through an ascetic-renunciant lens valuing disembodiment itself as spiritually good. |
| guarantee/down payment of the Spirit | ἀρραβών (arrabōn) | जमानत | 1:22; 5:5 | High | Not a devotee’s vow-token pledged to God (mannat logic reversed); God’s own unilateral pledge to the believer. |
Doctrine: The New Covenant versus the Old
| Term (Eng) | Greek (Translit.) | Dogri Rendering | Chapter(s) | Risk | Notes / Rejected Alternatives |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| new covenant | καινὴ διαθήκη (kainē diathēkē) | नमां नियम | 3:6, 14 | Critical | Built on baseline’s नियम (covenant); rejected: समझौता (commercial deal, per baseline). |

| tablets of stone / of the heart | πλάκες (plakes) | पत्थर दियां पट्टियां / दिलां दियां पट्टियां | 3:3 | Medium | Contrasts external, stone-inscribed law with internal, Spirit-written covenant. |
| the letter kills, the Spirit gives life | τὸ γράμμα… τὸ πνεῦμα (to gramma… to pneuma) | लिखत मारदी ऐ, पर आत्मा जिंदगी दिंदी ऐ | 3:6 | High | आत्मा here = general spirit/life-principle sense; requires disambiguation note distinguishing from पवित्तर आत्मा (Holy Spirit proper) case by case. |
| glory that was fading | δόξα καταργουμένη (doxa katargoumenē) | महिमा जेह् मिटदी जा रही ही | 3:7, 11, 13 | High | Reuses baseline महिमा; qualified as temporary/superseded. |
| boldness | παρρησία (parrēsia) | हिम्मत कन्नै गल्ल करना | 3:12 | Medium | New-covenant confidence, unlike Moses’ veiling. |
| veil | κάλυμμα (kalymma) | पर्दा | 3:13-16 | High | Must be marked explicitly as a spiritual covering over minds/hearts, distinct from physical female veiling/seclusion practice (ghoonghat/purdah) in Dogra Rajput and regional culture. |
| the Lord is the Spirit | ὁ κύριος τὸ πνεῦμά ἐστιν | प्रभु ही आत्मा ऐ | 3:17 | Critical | Dense trinitarian statement; theologian review required every occurrence; must not blur distinct Persons of the Godhead. |
| freedom/liberty | ἐλευθερία (eleutheria) | आजादी | 3:17 | Medium | Freedom from the law’s condemning power and from the veil. |
| we are being transformed | μεταμορφούμεθα (metamorphoumetha) | महिमा च बदलदे जाना | 3:18 | Critical | Deliberately avoids रूप (“form/shape”) vocabulary to prevent collision with both baseline’s forbidden अवतार and 11:14’s disguise language. Mandatory theologian-reviewed note. |
| letter/law (νόμος background) | νόμος (nomos) | व्यवस्था (reuse baseline) | 3:6-15 | Medium | Reused exactly per baseline; old covenant referent throughout Chapter 3. |
Doctrine: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority
| Term (Eng) | Greek (Translit.) | Dogri Rendering | Chapter(s) | Risk | Notes / Rejected Alternatives |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| sincerity | εἰλικρίνεια / ἁπλότης (eilikrineia / haplotēs) | खरापन | 1:12; 2:17; 11:3 | High | Built deliberately on the same खरी root as baseline’s खरी खबर (gospel) — an internally consistent “genuineness” word-family. |
| sufficient/competent | ἱκανός (hikanos) | काबल | 2:16; 3:5 | Medium | Answered by 3:5’s grace-dependent sufficiency; must not be answered with a merit-based framing. |
| peddlers of God’s word | καπηλεύοντες (kapēleuontes) | परमेश्वर दे बचन गी बेचना | 2:17 | Medium-High | Parallels the mannat-exchange risk already flagged for grace/spiritual gifts; Paul refuses to treat the gospel as a marketable commodity. |
| fragrance/aroma of Christ | εὐωδία Χριστοῦ / ὀσμή (euōdia Christou / osmē) | मसीह दी खुशबू | 2:14-16 | High | Must be distinguished from incense/dhoop and aarti-lamp offerings central to darshan worship at regional temples/shrines. |
| ambassador | πρεσβεύω (presbeuō) | मसीह दी तरफा भेजेआ होया प्रतिनिधि | 5:20 | High | Built on baseline’s भेजेआ होया; avoid राजदूत as primary gloss (same दynastic-title concern already flagged for “Lord”/महाराजा). |
| ministry/service | διακονία (diakonia) | सेवा | 3:6-9; 4:1; 5:18; 6:3-4; 8:4, 19-20; 9:1, 12-13; 11:8, 15, 23 | Medium | Must be consistently qualified in context (e.g. “मेल-मिलाप दी सेवा”) so it reads as grace-driven gospel ministry, not merit-earning ritual seva. |
| weapons not of the flesh | ὅπλα οὐ σαρκικά (hopla ou sarkika) | जिस्मानी हथियार नेईं | 10:4 | Medium | Spiritual, not coercive-political, means of apostolic authority. |
| strongholds | ὀχυρώματα (ochyrōmata) | किले | 10:4 | Medium | Note local resonance with Bahu Fort (Bahu Qila); not a doctrinal problem per se, but worth translator awareness. |
| boasting in the Lord | καυχάσθω ἐν κυρίῳ (kauchasthō en kyriō) | प्रभु च गर्व करना | 10:17 | High | Reuses baseline प्रभु; directly confronts Dogra Rajput izzat culture’s honor-based pride categories. |
Doctrine: Generosity and Grace in Giving
| Term (Eng) | Greek (Translit.) | Dogri Rendering | Chapter(s) | Risk | Notes / Rejected Alternatives |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| grace [as generosity] | χάρις (charis, extended sense) | दया राहें होई दानशीलता | 8:1, 4, 6-7, 9, 19; 9:8, 14 | Critical | Extension of baseline’s Critical grace entry; causality must run grace → generosity, never generosity-as-merit → grace; never mannat-style exchange logic. |
| fellowship/participation [in giving] | κοινωνία (koinōnia, extended sense) | संगत (reuse, extended) | 8:4 | Medium | Financial partnership as an act of Christian koinōnia, not mere transaction. |
| equality/fair balance | ἰσότης (isotēs) | बराबरी | 8:13-14 | Low-Medium | Balanced mutual sufficiency, not enforced material equality. |
| abundance / need | περίσσευμα / ὑστέρημα | जादा / घट्ट-कमी | 8:14-15 | Low | Mutual material care within the body of Christ. |

| cheerful giver | ἱλαρός (hilaros) | खुशी कन्नै देने वाला | 9:7 | Medium | Distinct from mannat-vow offerings tied to securing/repaying a granted wish. |
| sowing and reaping | σπείρων / θερίζων (speirōn / therizōn) | बीजना / बड़ना-कट्टना | 9:6 | Low-Medium | Not a guaranteed prosperity/give-to-get formula; God’s sovereign generosity, not mechanical return. |
Doctrine: Power in Weakness
| Term (Eng) | Greek (Translit.) | Dogri Rendering | Chapter(s) | Risk | Notes / Rejected Alternatives |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|

| outer man / inner man | ἔξω / ἔσω ἄνθρωπος | बाहरला मनुक्ख / अंदरला मनुक्ख | 4:16 | Medium | Must not be taught through Vedantic sharira-atman metaphysics; the personal self renewed by the personal Holy Spirit, not an impersonal universal Self. |
| eternal weight of glory | αἰώνιον βάρος δόξης | महिमा दा हमेशा दा भार | 4:17 | Medium | Reuses baseline महिमा. |
| thorn in the flesh | σκόλοψ τῇ σαρκί (skolops tē sarki) | जिस्म च कांडा | 12:7 | Medium-High | Within God’s personal providence (baseline परमेश्वर दा प्रबन्ध), not blind fate or karmic consequence. |
| messenger/angel of Satan | ἄγγελος Σατανᾶ (angelos Satana) | शैतान दा दूत | 12:7 | High | Must not be softened; a real hostile agency permitted within God’s sovereign purpose. |
| ”my grace is sufficient” | ἀρκεῖ ἡ χάρις μου | मेरी बिना कमाई दित्ती दया तेरे आस्तै काफी ऐ | 12:9 | Critical | Reuses baseline grace term exactly; extends the doctrine to sustaining/sanctifying grace, not only initial salvation. |
| power made perfect in weakness | ἡ δύναμις ἐν ἀσθενείᾳ τελεῖται | सामर्थ कमजोरी च पूरी होंदी ऐ | 12:9 | Critical | Reuses baseline सामर्थ exactly; deliberately confronts Dogra Rajput izzat/valor culture’s strength-based honor categories. |
| boast in weaknesses | καυχήσομαι ἐν ταῖς ἀσθενείαις | आपणी कमजोरियां च गर्व करना | 12:9-10 | High | Consistency required with all “boasting” entries across the book. |
| weakness | ἀσθένεια (astheneia) | कमजोरी | 11:21, 29-30; 12:5, 9-10; 13:4, 9 | High | Direct collision with honor/valor-prizing Rajput culture; requires explicit doctrinal teaching, not softening. |
| signs, wonders, mighty works | σημεῖα, τέρατα, δυνάμεις | चिन्ह, अचम्भे, सामर्थी कम्म | 12:12 | Medium-High | Distinguish from regional godman/wonder-worker miracle claims; apostolic signs authenticate gospel proclamation, not personal charisma. |
| visions and revelations | ἀποκαλύψεις / ὀπτασίαι | परगट कीतियां गल्लां / नजारे | 12:1, 7 | High | Avoid दर्शन (the ritual shrine-viewing term); use descriptive alternatives. |
| third heaven / paradise | τρίτος οὐρανός / παράδεισος | स्वर्ग (qualified) or transliterated पैराडाइस — pending theologian decision | 12:2-4 | Critical | New Critical gap not covered by Romans baseline: स्वर्ग in dominant regional Hindu cosmology is a temporary, merit-based heavenly abode within the rebirth cycle, not equivalent to the eternal presence of God. Requires a single, consistent, theologian-approved decision before Phase 2 begins. |
Doctrine: Genuine versus False Apostleship
| Term (Eng) | Greek (Translit.) | Dogri Rendering | Chapter(s) | Risk | Notes / Rejected Alternatives |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| godly jealousy | ζῆλος θεοῦ (zēlos theou) | परमेश्वर दी गैरत | 11:2 | High | गैरत resonates with Dogra Rajput honor-protection culture (double-edged); requires note distinguishing covenantal jealousy from honor-based possessiveness. |
| pure virgin [betrothed] | παρθένος ἁγνή (parthenos hagnē) | कुआरी लाड़ी | 11:2 | Medium | Bridal-purity imagery for exclusive devotion to Christ. |
| another Jesus / different spirit / different gospel | ἄλλος Ἰησοῦς, ἕτερον πνεῦμα, ἕτερον εὐαγγέλιον | होर यीशु, होर आत्मा, होर खरी खबर | 11:4 | Critical | Reuses baseline यीशु and खरी खबर exactly, qualified by होर (“another”); names precisely the syncretism risk this entire Language Package guards against. Mandatory theologian review every occurrence. |
| super-apostles (ironic) | ὑπερλίαν ἀπόστολοι (hyperlian apostoloi) | बड्डे-बड्डे भेजेआ होए | 11:5 | Medium | Sarcastic tone must be preserved in translation, not flattened. |
| false apostles, deceitful workmen | ψευδαπόστολοι, ἐργάται δόλιοι | झूठे भेजेआ होए, धोखेबाज कारकुन | 11:13 | Critical | Direct doctrinal anchor for this doctrine; theologian review required. |
| Satan disguises himself as an angel of light | μετασχηματίζεται εἰς ἄγγελον φωτός | शैतान चाननी दे स्वर्गदूत दा भेस धारदा ऐ | 11:14 | Critical | Uses भेस धारना (“wear a disguise/costume”), deliberately not रूप बदलना, to avoid collision with the widespread, generally benevolent Hindu devotional motif of a deity appearing disguised to test a devotee. Mandatory theologian-reviewed note distinguishing malicious deception here from that benevolent-testing motif. |
| ministers of righteousness [disguised] | διάκονοι δικαιοσύνης | धरमीपन दे सेवादार (भेस च) | 11:15 | Critical | Same disguise-motif caution as above; reuses धरमीपन and सेवा. |
| Belial | Βελιάρ (Beliar) | बलियार (transliteration, with mandatory gloss “अर्थात् शैतान”) | 6:15 | High | Unfamiliar proper name; requires explanatory gloss, not a local-deity-name collision but an unfamiliarity risk. |
| temple of God [believers as] | ναὸς θεοῦ (naos theou) | परमेश्वर दा निवास/बास | 6:16 | Critical | Deliberately not मंदर (reserved by baseline exclusively for physical Hindu temple buildings and forbidden for “church”); a different metaphor requiring a different word. |
| idols | εἴδωλα (eidōla) | मूर्ति | 6:16 | Critical | Accurately names devotional images central to Duggar religious life (Raghunath Mandir, Bahu Fort, Vaishno Devi); doctrinally necessary, pastorally sensitive — requires careful surrounding teaching, not blunt polemic against individuals’ heritage. |
| examine/test yourselves | ἑαυτοὺς πειράζετε/δοκιμάζετε | आपने आपगी परखो | 13:5 | Medium | Turns the genuine/false question inward, onto the hearer’s own faith. |
| defilement | μολυσμός (molysmos) | पाप दी मैल | 7:1 | Medium-High | Rejected: भिट्ट (ritual impurity, per baseline); this is moral, not ceremonial, defilement. |
| godly grief / worldly grief | λύπη κατὰ θεόν / τοῦ κόσμου λύπη | परमेश्वर मुताबक दुख / दुनिया दा दुख | 7:9-10 | Medium-High | Not ritual penance/austerity performed to earn merit. |
| repentance | μετάνοια (metanoia) | मन फिराव | 7:9-10 | High | Distinct from mere पछताप (regret alone) and explicitly distinct from तपस्या (merit-earning ascetic penance, highly salient locally via both general Hindu practice and the specific Baba Jitto tradition). New term not present in Romans baseline; add as High risk. |
| earnestness/zeal | σπουδή / ζῆλος (spoudē / zēlos) | जोश | 7:11-12 | Low | Standard vocabulary; minor risk. |
Additional Whole-Book / Cross-Cutting Terms

| unequally yoked | ἑτεροζυγοῦντες (heterozygountes) | बेमेल जुए च न जुड़ो | 6:14 | Medium | Spiritual (belief) compatibility, not caste/lineage endogamy — translator note required given resonance with Dogra marriage norms. |
| come out and be separate | ἀφορίσθητε (aphoristhēte) | अलग होना/निकलना | 6:17 | Medium | Ongoing whole-life distinctiveness, not a one-time ritual exit; consistent with baseline’s “separation unto God’s service” doctrine. |
| holy kiss | φίλημα ἅγιον (philēma hagion) | पवित्तर नमस्कार (culturally adapted) | 13:12 | Medium | Adapted to a customary respectful greeting; requires a note explaining the underlying first-century custom. |
| Trinitarian benediction | χάρις… ἀγάπη… κοινωνία… (charis… agapē… koinōnia…) | बिना कमाई दित्ती दया, परमेश्वर दा प्यार, पवित्तर आत्मा दी संगत | 13:14 | Critical | All-baseline-term compound; recommend adding to the fixed-wording cross-document consistency list alongside Romans 1:16-17, 8:28, and 10:9-10, given its high liturgical/memorization use. |
Summary of New Critical-Risk Terms Requiring Registry Updates Before Phase 2
The following terms are newly surfaced by 2 Corinthians, carry Critical risk, and are not covered by the existing Romans baseline. - grace [as generosity] (दया राहें होई दानशीलता) — Doctrine: Generosity and Grace in Giving (extension of baseline Critical grace entry)
Critical Risk Terms
Grace
Approved rendering: बिना कमाई दित्ती दया
Transliteration: bina kamai ditti daya
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: मन्नत दा फल (a boon granted in response to a vow), पुण्य (merit earned through right action)
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. Extended in 2 Corinthians chs. 8-9 to describe the generosity grace produces in believers — see the new term grace_as_generosity below for that derivative sense, which must never reverse the causal direction.
Righteousness
Approved rendering: धरमीपन
Transliteration: dharmipan
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: धरम (caste/social duty tied to Dogra Rajput lineage-honor expectations)
Original: δικαιοσύνη
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (‘we might become the righteousness of God’) is one of Scripture’s clearest restatements of justification and must render identically in register and force to Romans.
Justification
Approved rendering: धर्मी ठहराए जाना
Transliteration: dharmi thehrae jana
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: माफी मिलना (forgiveness received, too narrow)
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. No direct new occurrence in 2 Corinthians beyond the underlying doctrine; retained for cross-curriculum consistency and as the conceptual anchor behind 5:19-21.
Salvation
Approved rendering: उद्धार
Transliteration: uddhar
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: मुक्ति (liberation from the rebirth cycle), मनोकामना पूरी होना (a wish/boon granted, as through a vow at Vaishno Devi)
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. Occurs 1:6; 6:2; 7:10, the latter tied to godly grief leading to salvation ‘without regret,’ distinct from tapasya-style merit-earning penance (see new repentance entry).
Resurrection
Approved rendering: मुर्दघरा चा जिंदा होना
Transliteration: murdaghara cha jinda hona
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ
Rejected alternatives: पुनर्जन्म (reincarnation)
Original: ἀνάστασις (cf. ἐγερθέντι)
Category: Eschatology
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. Occurs 4:14; 5:15, joined there with the substitutionary-death motif. Never पुनर्जन्म.
Lord
Approved rendering: प्रभु
Transliteration: prabhu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: महाराजा (the historic Dogra dynastic royal title)
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. Extremely high frequency throughout (1:2-3, 14; 3:16-18; 4:5, 10, 14; 5:6, 8, 11; 8:5, 9, 19, 21; 10:8, 17-18; 11:31; 12:1, 8; 13:14). Never महाराजा.
Son Of God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दा पुत्तर
Transliteration: Parmeshwar da puttar
Doctrine: Sonship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: अवतार (an incarnate deity-descent)
Original: υἱὸς θεοῦ
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. Occurs 1:19.
Incarnation
Approved rendering: मानखे दा रूप लैना
Transliteration: mankhe da roop laina
Doctrine: Incarnation
Rejected alternatives: अवतार (never use)
Original: ὁ λόγος σὰρξ ἐγένετο (conceptual background)
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. No direct occurrence, but actively guards Chapter 3’s ‘transformed’ language (3:18, see transformed_into_glory) and Chapter 11’s ‘disguise’ language (11:14, see satan_disguised_as_angel_of_light) from collapsing into avatar-descent theology.
Messiah
Approved rendering: मसीह
Transliteration: masih
Doctrine: Messianic Promise
Original: Χριστός
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. Extremely high frequency throughout the whole book.
Jesus
Approved rendering: यीशु
Transliteration: Yishu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ईसा (Muslim/Urdu-influenced contexts; interfaith-dialogue framing only)
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. Extremely high frequency throughout, including the contested ‘another Jesus’ of 11:4 (see another_jesus_different_spirit_gospel).
God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर
Transliteration: Parmeshwar
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: भगवान (broad Hindu deity usage)
Original: θεός
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. Highest-frequency term in the book. Never भगवान; see also god_of_this_age below, which must never use परमेश्वर or देवता for Satan.
Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: पवित्तर आत्मा
Transliteration: pavittar aatma
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: शक्ति (goddess-power, never use), परमात्मा alone (Hindu universal Self, never use)
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. Occurs 1:22; 3:3, 6, 8, 17-18 (context-dependent — see letter_and_spirit and lord_is_the_spirit for disambiguation of bare आत्मा occurrences); 5:5; 6:6; 13:14.
Father
Approved rendering: पिता
Transliteration: pita
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Original: πατήρ
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. Occurs 1:2-3; 6:18; 11:31, including the sons_and_daughters family imagery.
Imputed Righteousness
Approved rendering: गिनी गेई धरमीपन
Transliteration: gini gei dharmipan
Doctrine: Justification by Faith
Rejected alternatives: कमाई गेई धरमीपन (earned righteousness, explicitly rejected)
Original: ἐλογίσθη… εἰς δικαιοσύνην (cf. μὴ λογιζόμενος, 2 Cor 5:19)
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change, for the positive form. 2 Corinthians 5:19 supplies the negative form (‘God not counting trespasses’) — see the new not_counting_trespasses entry below, which applies the same forensic-accounting logic in reverse.
Reconciliation
Approved rendering: मेल-मिलाप
Transliteration: mel-milaap
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God
Rejected alternatives: मनाना (to placate/appease a deity, e.g. at Bahu Fort’s Kali shrine or via Vaishno Devi vows; never use — reverses the direction of the action)
Original: καταλλαγή
Category: Reconciliation with God
New Critical term; not present in Romans baseline. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19. God himself is the acting subject who initiates and accomplishes reconciliation toward humanity — the reverse direction of the mannat (vow-for-boon) appeasement model surrounding the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage.
To Reconcile
Approved rendering: मेल कराना / मेल होना
Transliteration: mel karana / mel hona
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God
Rejected alternatives: मनाना
Original: καταλλάσσω / καταλλάξαντος
Category: Reconciliation with God
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 5:18-20. The passive imperative ‘be reconciled’ (5:20) must read as receiving, not achieving or purchasing, reconciliation, so it cannot collapse into mannat-vow logic.
Ministry Of Reconciliation
Approved rendering: मेल-मिलाप दी सेवा
Transliteration: mel-milaap di seva
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God
Original: διακονία τῆς καταλλαγῆς
Category: Reconciliation with God
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 5:18. Compound of reconciliation + ministry/service; retains the sense that believers announce an accomplished reconciliation rather than perform a ritual duty to bring one about.
Not Counting Trespasses
Approved rendering: पाप गिनदे नेईं
Transliteration: paap ginde nein
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God
Original: μὴ λογιζόμενος
Category: Reconciliation with God
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 5:19. Negative counterpart of गिनी गेई धरमीपन; same forensic-accounting logic, applied negatively — never a karmic ledger of papa/punya erased through merit or ritual.
One Died For All
Approved rendering: इक जन सारें आस्तै मरा
Transliteration: ik jan sarein aastai mara
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God
Original: εἷς ὑπὲρ πάντων ἀπέθανεν
Category: Reconciliation with God
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 5:14. Must retain unqualified universality (सारे, ‘all’) without caste, lineage, or izzat-rank qualification, consistent with baseline universality rules governing Romans 3:23 and 10:12-13.
New Creation
Approved rendering: नमीं सृष्टि
Transliteration: namin srishti
Doctrine: New Creation in Christ
Rejected alternatives: पुनर्जन्म (reincarnation, already forbidden by baseline), unqualified सृष्टि evoking cyclical srishti/pralaya cosmology
Original: καινὴ κτίσις
Category: New Creation in Christ
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 5:17. Must be a decisive, linear, once-for-all new beginning, never a turn in an ongoing cosmic cycle.
New Covenant
Approved rendering: नमां नियम
Transliteration: naman niyam
Doctrine: The New Covenant versus the Old
Rejected alternatives: समझौता (renegotiated commercial deal, already rejected in baseline for ‘covenant’)
Original: καινὴ διαθήκη
Category: The New Covenant versus the Old
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 3:6, 14. Built on baseline’s नियम, qualified नमां; taught as a decisively better, Spirit-empowered relational bond, not a renegotiated version of the old contract.
Lord Is The Spirit
Approved rendering: प्रभु ही आत्मा ऐ
Transliteration: prabhu hi aatma ai
Doctrine: The New Covenant versus the Old
Original: ὁ κύριος τὸ πνεῦμά ἐστιν
Category: Christology
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 3:17. Dense trinitarian identification statement; reuses प्रभु exactly, paired with bare आत्मा (not पवित्तर आत्मा) with a mandatory translator note distinguishing this from ordinary references to the Spirit as a distinct Person. Theologian review required every occurrence.
Transformed Into Glory
Approved rendering: महिमा च बदलदे जाना
Transliteration: mahima cha badalde jaana
Doctrine: New Creation in Christ
Rejected alternatives: रूप-based vocabulary (रूप बदलना), which would collide with baseline’s forbidden अवतार and with 11:14’s Satan ‘disguising himself’
Original: μεταμορφούμεθα
Category: New Creation in Christ
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 3:18. Deliberately avoids रूप (‘form/shape’) vocabulary. Worded so it cannot be heard as either an avatar-style divine appearance or a disguise; mandatory theologian-reviewed note wherever this verb occurs.
Grace As Generosity
Approved rendering: दया राहें होई दानशीलता
Transliteration: daya rahen hoi daanshilta
Doctrine: Generosity and Grace in Giving
Rejected alternatives: वरदान (boon; forbidden by baseline), any framing where generosity precedes or earns grace
Original: χάρις (extended sense, chs. 8-9)
Category: Generosity and Grace in Giving
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 8:1, 4, 6-7, 9, 19; 9:8, 14. Extension of baseline’s Critical grace entry; causality must always run grace to generosity, never generosity-as-merit to grace; must never be read alongside the mannat-vow economy of the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage.
Power Perfected In Weakness
Approved rendering: सामर्थ कमजोरी च पूरी होंदी ऐ
Transliteration: samarth kamzori cha poori hondi ai
Doctrine: Power in Weakness
Rejected alternatives: शक्ति (goddess-power; forbidden by baseline)
Original: ἡ δύναμις ἐν ἀσθενείᾳ τελεῖται
Category: Power in Weakness
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 12:9. Reuses baseline सामर्थ exactly; directly and deliberately confronts Dogra Rajput izzat/valor culture, in which strength and honor, not weakness, are traditional markers of worth.
Third Heaven Paradise
Approved rendering: पैराडाइस
Transliteration: Paradise
Doctrine: Power in Weakness
Rejected alternatives: स्वर्ग unqualified (dominant regional Hindu cosmology’s temporary, merit-based heavenly abode within the rebirth cycle; not equivalent to God’s eternal presence)
Original: τρίτος οὐρανός / παράδεισος
Category: Power in Weakness
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 12:2-4. PENDING FINAL SIGN-OFF: linguistic gap analysis (06) recommends this reserved transliteration, parallel to मसीह/यीशु, over a qualified स्वर्ग, because a one-time appended qualifier cannot be guaranteed to travel with the word through every downstream reuse across teaching, discussion, and hymnody. This is the provisional working rendering; requires explicit human theologian sign-off before any Phase 2 segment translation of 2 Corinthians 12 begins.
Another Jesus Different Spirit Gospel
Approved rendering: होर यीशु, होर आत्मा, होर खरी खबर
Transliteration: hor Yishu, hor aatma, hor khari khabar
Doctrine: Genuine versus False Apostleship
Original: ἄλλος Ἰησοῦς, ἕτερον πνεῦμα, ἕτερον εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 11:4. Reuses baseline यीशु and खरी खबर exactly, qualified by होर (‘another/different’). Names precisely the syncretism risk this entire Language Package exists to prevent. Theologian review required every occurrence.
False Apostles
Approved rendering: झूठे भेजेआ होए
Transliteration: jhoothe bhejea hoye
Doctrine: Genuine versus False Apostleship
Original: ψευδαπόστολοι
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 11:13. Built on baseline’s भेजेआ होया + झूठा; direct doctrinal anchor for genuine-versus-false apostleship. Theologian review required.
Satan Disguised As Angel Of Light
Approved rendering: शैतान चाननी दे स्वर्गदूत दा भेस धारदा ऐ
Transliteration: Shaitan chaanani de swargdoot da bhes dharda ai
Doctrine: Genuine versus False Apostleship
Rejected alternatives: रूप बदलना (would collide with the widespread, generally benevolent Hindu devotional motif of a deity appearing disguised to test a devotee)
Original: μετασχηματίζεται εἰς ἄγγελον φωτός
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 11:14. Uses भेस धारना (‘wear a disguise/costume’), deliberately not रूप बदलना. Mandatory theologian-reviewed note required distinguishing this malicious, non-benevolent disguise from the local benevolent-testing motif.
Ministers Of Righteousness Disguised
Approved rendering: धरमीपन दे सेवादार (भेस च)
Transliteration: dharmipan de sevadaar (bhes cha)
Doctrine: Genuine versus False Apostleship
Original: διάκονοι δικαιοσύνης
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 11:15. Reuses धरमीपन and सेवा; same disguise-motif caution as satan_disguised_as_angel_of_light applies.
Temple Of God Metaphor
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दा निवास/बास
Transliteration: Parmeshwar da nivaas/baas
Doctrine: Genuine versus False Apostleship
Rejected alternatives: मंदर (reserved exclusively by baseline for physical Hindu temple buildings and forbidden for ‘church’; never use for this metaphor)
Original: ναὸς θεοῦ
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 6:16. A different metaphor requiring a different word than mandar; believers corporately as God’s dwelling place.
Idols
Approved rendering: मूर्ति
Transliteration: moorti
Doctrine: Genuine versus False Apostleship
Original: εἴδωλα
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 6:16. Accurately names devotional images central to Duggar religious life (Raghunath Mandir, Bahu Fort, Vaishno Devi); doctrinally necessary but pastorally sensitive — requires careful surrounding teaching, not blunt polemic against individuals’ heritage.
Trinitarian Benediction
Approved rendering:
Doctrine: Genuine versus False Apostleship
Original: χάρις τοῦ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, καὶ ἡ ἀγάπη τοῦ θεοῦ, καὶ ἡ κοινωνία τοῦ ἁγίου πνεύματος
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 13:14. All-baseline-term compound reusing बिना कमाई दित्ती दया, प्रभु, यीशु, परमेश्वर, पवित्तर आत्मा, संगत exactly. Add to the fixed-wording cross-document consistency list alongside Romans 1:16-17, 8:28, and 10:9-10, given its high liturgical/memorization use.
God Of This Age
Approved rendering: इस जुगदा हाकम
Transliteration: is jugda haakam
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: देवता/भगवान/परमेश्वर for Satan (would risk conceding a second real god exists in a landscape with multiple actively worshipped deities — Rama, Kali/Bawe Wali Mata, the Vaishno Devi goddess)
Original: ὁ θεὸς τοῦ αἰῶνος τούτου
Category: God
New Critical term. 2 Corinthians 4:4. Render functionally as ‘the ruler of this age’ with a mandatory theologian-reviewed note explaining Paul’s ironic/polemical idiom, within strict monotheism.
High Risk Terms
Gospel
Approved rendering: खरी खबर
Transliteration: khari khabar
Doctrine: Gospel
Rejected alternatives: सुसमाचार (Hindi Christian loanword; avoid as the default rendering)
Original: εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. In 2 Corinthians occurs in contexts of apostolic proclamation (2:12), rival ‘different gospels’ (11:4, see another_jesus_different_spirit_gospel), and the collection narrative (8:18; 9:13; 11:7).

Adoption
Approved rendering: गोद लैने आह् पुत्तर बनाना
Transliteration: god laine aah puttar banana
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. No direct occurrence in 2 Corinthians but conceptually present in sons_and_daughters (6:18); see that new entry for explicit female inclusion alongside this default son-status phrase.
Sin

Doctrine: Universal Human Accountability
Rejected alternatives: भिट्ट (ritual impurity/pollution)

Original: δόξα
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. Very frequent (1:20; 3:7-11, 18; 4:4, 6, 15, 17; 8:19, 23; 11:30), especially the fading-versus-unfading contrast of Chapter 3 (see fading_glory) and the eternal_weight_of_glory of 4:17.

Transliteration: bharose kannai tallukh rakhdi mannata

Transliteration: Parmeshwar di samarth
Doctrine: Power of God for Salvation
Rejected alternatives: शक्ति (goddess-power devotion)
Original: δύναμις θεοῦ
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package exactly; no change. Occurs 4:7; 6:7; 12:9; 13:4, most famously ‘power is made perfect in weakness’ (see power_perfected_in_weakness). Never शक्ति.
Covenant
Approved rendering: नियम
Transliteration: niyam
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Rejected alternatives: समझौता (a negotiated deal/contract, too transactional)

Transliteration: mel-milaap di khabar
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God
Original: λόγος τῆς καταλλαγῆς
Category: Reconciliation with God
New High-risk term. 2 Corinthians 5:19. Keep terminologically linked to मेल-मिलाप and to baseline’s खरी खबर without collapsing the two into one word; this is narrower than ‘gospel’ generally.
Trespasses
Approved rendering: पाप
Transliteration: paap
Doctrine: Sin
Original: παραπτώματα
Category: Sin
New term (παραπτώματα), reuses baseline पाप since the doctrinal distinction from भिट्ट already governs ‘sin’ broadly across the pipeline. 2 Corinthians 5:19.
Judgment Seat Of Christ
Approved rendering: मसीह दी अदालत/न्याय-आसन
Transliteration: Masih di adalat/nyay-aasan
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God
Original: βῆμα τοῦ Χριστοῦ
Category: Reconciliation with God
New High-risk term. 2 Corinthians 5:10. Must be clearly distinguished from justification’s forensic declaration (a settled legal status already granted by grace); this is evaluation of works/reward, not a second salvation-trial.
Old Passed New Come
Approved rendering: पुराणी गल्लां बीत गेइयां, नमीं गल्लां आई गेइयां
Transliteration: puraani gallaan beet geiyaan, namin gallaan aai geiyaan

Doctrine: New Creation in Christ
Original: κατὰ σάρκα
Category: New Creation in Christ

Christ In You
Approved rendering: तुसां च मसीह
Transliteration: tusaan cha Masih
Doctrine: New Creation in Christ
Original: Χριστὸς ἐν ὑμῖν
Category: New Creation in Christ
New High-risk term. 2 Corinthians 13:5. Reuses मसीह exactly; ties to baseline’s Christian Identity in Christ doctrine — Christ’s indwelling presence, not lineage or ritual performance, is the test of genuine faith.
Carrying Death Of Jesus
Approved rendering: यीशु दा मरना
Transliteration: Yishu da marna
Doctrine: Suffering and Comfort in Ministry
Original: νέκρωσις τοῦ Ἰησοῦ
Category: Suffering and Comfort in Ministry
New High-risk term. 2 Corinthians 4:10. Distinct from local self-sacrifice commemoration (Aghar Jitto/Jitto Da Mela); participatory identification with Christ’s unique atoning death, not imitation of a folk-martyr.
Guarantee Of Spirit
Approved rendering: जमानत
Transliteration: jamanat
Doctrine: Suffering and Comfort in Ministry
Original: ἀρραβών τοῦ πνεύματος
Category: Suffering and Comfort in Ministry
New High-risk term. 2 Corinthians 1:22; 5:5. Not a devotee’s vow-token pledged to God (mannat logic reversed); God’s own unilateral pledge to the believer.
