Core Glossary
Core Glossary: 2 Thessalonians (English → Dogri)
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing theological term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md across all three chapters of 2 Thessalonians. Terms marked [BASELINE REUSE] are drawn directly and unchanged from the Romans translation_memory.json / bible_term_registry.json and MUST be enforced exactly as recorded there. Terms marked [NEW] are introduced by this curriculum and require Phase 2 confirmation and, where marked Critical/High, human theologian review before deployment.
Risk tiers follow the baseline’s doctrine_risk_registry.json definitions exactly:
- Critical — Human theologian review required for every occurrence.
- High — Human theologian review required.
- Medium — Native speaker review recommended.
- Low — Automated review sufficient.

B. New Terms Introduced by 2 Thessalonians
B.1 Critical Risk (Human Theologian Review — Every Occurrence)
| English Term | Greek | Transliteration | Dogri Translation | Dogri Transliteration | Definition | Alternatives Rejected | Translation Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Day of the Lord | ἡμέρα τοῦ Κυρίου | hēmera tou Kyriou | प्रभु दा दिन | Prabhu da din | The single, future, linear, historical day of Christ’s visible return, universal judgment, and final vindication of the church. | CRITICAL: Must be taught explicitly, every occurrence, as a single unrepeatable historical event bound to Christ’s own unique return — not a turning point in a cyclical yuga cosmology, and not an occasion for a Kalki-like avatar’s arrival to restore dharma within an ongoing cycle. | |
| Man of Lawlessness | ὁ ἄνθρωπος τῆς ἀνομίας | ho anthrōpos tēs anomias | बे-व्यवस्था दा मनुख | be-vyavastha da manukh | The single, historical, future individual, energized by Satan, who will openly oppose God and exalt himself before Christ’s return. | CRITICAL: built on established व्यवस्था (law) root rather than धरम, to avoid both the avatar-vs-demon mythic pattern and the Dogra Rajput lineage-duty collision the baseline already guards against. | |
| Lawlessness | ἀνομία | anomia | बे-व्यवस्था | be-vyavastha | Active rebellion against God’s moral law/order, embodied climactically in the man of lawlessness. | See “Man of Lawlessness” above; keep the word-family visually linked (बे-व्यवस्था / बे-व्यवस्था दा मनुख / बे-व्यवस्था वाला) across all occurrences (2:3, 2:7, 2:8). | |
| Lawless One | ὁ ἄνομος | ho anomos | बे-व्यवस्था वाला | be-vyavastha wala | The man of lawlessness, named by his defining character. | Same figure as “man of lawlessness” (2:3) — keep terminologically linked so readers recognize continuity. | |
| Son of Destruction | ὁ υἱὸς τῆς ἀπωλείας | ho huios tēs apōleias | नाश दा पुत्तर | nash da puttar | Semitic idiom marking the man of lawlessness’s certain, final doom (cf. Judas, John 17:12) — not literal parentage. | Must not be confused with परमेश्वर दा पुत्तर ([BASELINE REUSE] Son of God). Mandatory translator note distinguishing this “son of X = destined-for-X” idiom from actual divine/adoptive sonship. | |
| Traditions | παράδοσις / παραδόσεις | paradosis / paradoseis | भेजे होयां दी सिखलाई | bheje hoyan di sikhlai | The authoritative body of apostolic gospel teaching (doctrinal and ethical) delivered by Paul, orally or by letter, which believers must hold fast to and measure conduct against. | CORE DOCTRINE (“Standing Firm in the Traditions”). Built on baseline’s established भेजेआ होया (“apostle” = “one who has been sent”) to preserve terminological continuity. Flag for revision if Phase 2 adopts a shorter noun form for “apostle” (e.g., प्रेरित), in which case revise to प्रेरितां दी सिखलाई. Occurs 2:15 and 3:6 — same referent both times, spanning doctrinal AND practical/ethical apostolic instruction. | |
| Delusion / Strong Delusion | ἐνέργεια πλάνης | energeia planēs | भुलेखा (दा असर) | bhulekha (da asar) | God’s active, judicial hardening of those who willfully reject the truth, confirming them in the very falsehood they preferred. | CRITICAL — the single highest-salience collision risk in the book. Every occurrence requires an explicit clause making clear this is God’s own active, judicial sending (e.g., “परमेश्वर आपै…भेजदा है”), not a metaphysical claim about the world’s nature. | |
| Eternal Destruction | ὄλεθρος αἰώνιος | olethros aiōnios | सदा दा नाश | sada da nash | Final, permanent, unending ruin and separation from God’s presence, for those who reject the gospel. | Must be taught as final and non-cyclical, parallel to the baseline’s treatment of resurrection as a non-cyclical, once-for-all category (cf. baseline’s rejection of पुनर्जन्म). |
B.2 High Risk (Human Theologian Review Required)
| English Term | Greek | Transliteration | Dogri Translation | Dogri Transliteration | Definition | Alternatives Rejected | Translation Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mystery [of Lawlessness] | μυστήριον (τῆς ἀνομίας) | mystērion (tēs anomias) | भेद (बे-व्यवस्था दा) | bhed (be-vyavastha da) | The presently hidden, already-active operation of end-time lawlessness, to be fully disclosed at its appointed time. | Biblical “mystery” is a truth God determines to disclose on his own timing to all who believe, not esoteric knowledge for a spiritual elite. | |
| Rebellion / Apostasy | ἀποστασία | apostasia | भरोसे थमां हटना | bharose thamma hatna | A specific, foretold, end-time falling away from faith preceding Christ’s return. | Built on established भरोसा (faith) root; must convey a specific eschatological falling-away, not routine religious conversion. | |
| Signs and Wonders [false] | σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα | sēmeia kai terata | झूठे निशान ते अचम्भे | jhoothe nishan te achambhe | Satan-empowered counterfeit miraculous displays intended to deceive, explicitly NOT authentic divine attestation. | The falsity-qualifier (झूठे) is mandatory every occurrence in 2:9; contrast with 3:17’s सign of authenticity (सign/निशान in a different, non-miraculous sense — flag polysemy). | |
| Perseverance / Endurance | ὑπομονή | hypomonē | सहनशीलता | sahanshilta | Active, hope-filled persistence under suffering, grounded in confident expectation of Christ’s vindicating return. | CORE DOCTRINE (“Perseverance under Persecution”). Not self-directed merit-accumulation or detachment, but hope-fueled active persistence. | |
| Persecution | διωγμός | diōgmos | जुल्म | zulm | Sustained hostile pursuit endured specifically on account of one’s faith in Christ. | (no single rejected term, but framing risk:) suffering interpreted purely as karma-phal (automatic ripening of past-life wrongdoing) must be explicitly excluded | Must be explicitly taught as suffering for righteousness/the gospel, not consequence of the sufferer’s own past wrongdoing. |
| Affliction | θλῖψις | thlipsis | दुख | dukh | Ongoing hardship endured alongside persecution, for the gospel’s sake. | (no single rejected substitute — दुख is unavoidable as the natural word, but framing risk:) existential dukkha (Buddhist/Hindu philosophical suffering inherent to worldly existence, sought to be transcended via renunciation) must be explicitly distinguished | Mandatory translator note in every occurrence distinguishing this specific, temporal, faith-caused affliction (endured in hope) from philosophical dukkha (transcended via detachment/moksha). |
| God’s Righteous Judgment / Judged | δίκαιον (κρίμα) / κρίνω | dikaion (krima) / krinō | परमेश्वर दा धरमी नियाव / दोषी ठहराए जाना | Parmeshwar da dharmi niyav / doshi thehrae jana | God’s personal, forensic verdict — reward for the persecuted, condemnation for those who reject the gospel — rendered at Christ’s return. | CORE DOCTRINE (“God’s Righteous Judgment”). Built as the negative structural counterpart to established धर्मी ठहराए जाना ([BASELINE REUSE] justification) to preserve the forensic courtroom register; must be a personal Judge’s verdict, not impersonal karma. | |
| Retribution / Vengeance | ἐκδίκησις | ekdikēsis | परमेश्वर दा नियाव-भरा बदला | Parmeshwar da niyav-bhara badla | God’s own righteous repayment against persecutors, vindicating his wronged people — executed solely by God. | (framing risk:) izzat-driven honor-vengeance/vendetta (Dogra Rajput retaliation-to-restore-honor custom), never model as license for human retaliation | Must never be read as authorizing human honor-vengeance; God alone executes this, consistent with Romans 12:19’s guarding (implicit in baseline’s providence entry). |
| Guard / Protect [from the evil one] | φυλάσσω / φυλάξει | phylassō / phylaxei | बचाणा | bachana | God’s protective guarding of believers from the evil one/Satan. | Direct parallel to baseline’s Critical guarding of शक्ति for “power of God”/“Holy Spirit” — same collision risk, same remedy (avoid Shakta-protector vocabulary). | |
| Love | ἀγάπη | agapē | प्यार | pyar | Selfless, willed love — among believers (1:3), God’s own love for believers (2:16), and “love of the truth” (2:10). | Not present in Romans baseline; load-bearing across all three chapters. Register-check with native speaker recommended for formal Scripture usage. | |
| Love of the Truth | ἡ ἀγάπη τῆς ἀληθείας | hē agapē tēs alētheias | सच्चाई कन्नै प्यार | sachai kannai pyar | Wholehearted, saving embrace of the gospel message, contrasted with mere intellectual assent or its rejection. | See “Love” and “Truth” entries; this phrase is the positive counterpart to 2:11-12’s rejection of truth. | |
| Truth | ἀλήθεια | alētheia | सच्चाई | sachai | Personal, revealed gospel truth, embraced or rejected. | सच्चाई preferred as the more relationally/personally oriented term for “truth” as embraced or rejected by a person, rather than an abstract cosmic principle. | |
| Hope [Good Hope] | ἐλπίς (ἀγαθή) | elpis (agathē) | आस (भली आस) | aas (bhali aas) | Confident expectation of final salvation and glory, grounded in God’s reliable promise and paired with grace (2:16). | (framing risk:) hope as a wish pursued through a shrine vow (mannat), never use that transactional framing | Not present in Romans baseline; requires the same grace/mannat guardrail already established for “grace” itself, since 2:16 explicitly pairs “good hope” with grace. |
| Satan | Σατανᾶς | Satanas | शैतान | Shaitan | The personal, chief spiritual adversary of God and his people, empowering the man of lawlessness. | शैतान is the widely attested regional loanword functioning as a recognizable proper name across North Indian Christian/Muslim usage for the singular biblical Adversary. | |
| The Restrainer [referent ambiguity] | τὸ κατέχον / ὁ κατέχων | to katechon / ho katechōn | जेह्ड़ी चीज़/जेह्ड़ा कोई हुण रोकी रक्खी है | jehdi cheez / jehda koi hun roki rakkhi hai | An unnamed force/agent presently restraining the man of lawlessness’s revelation; identity debated among interpreters (Roman state, gospel proclamation, providential order, angelic power). | (no doctrinal substitution risk — this is an interpretive-fidelity risk, not a syncretism risk) | Requires a mandatory translator note preserving interpretive ambiguity for human theologian review rather than prematurely resolving it; note the deliberate neuter (2:6) → masculine (2:7) shift in Greek. |
| Ashamed [church discipline] | ἐντραπῇ | entrapē | शरमाना | sharmana | The narrow, restorative goal of relational distancing from an unrepentant, disorderly brother — meant to produce repentance within ongoing brotherly love, not permanent exclusion. | (framing risk:) izzat-culture severe/permanent honor-loss and social exclusion, must be explicitly excluded as the intended sense | Requires BOTH theologian and native speaker review; must always be paired with 3:15’s “as a brother, not as an enemy” qualifier to prevent an honor-culture misreading. |
B.3 Medium Risk (Native Speaker Review Recommended)
| English Term | Greek | Transliteration | Dogri Translation | Dogri Transliteration | Definition | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Parousia / Coming | παρουσία | parousia | प्रभु दा आना | Prabhu da aana | Christ’s visible, bodily, glorious return (also used ironically of the lawless one’s counterfeit “coming,” 2:9). | Must not evoke a recurring ritual/darshan appearance; preserve the deliberate parallel/contrast between Christ’s parousia (2:1, 8) and the lawless one’s parousia (2:9). |
| Gathered together | ἐπισυναγωγή | episynagōgē | उसदे कोल्लै कठे होना | usde kollai kathe hona | The one-time eschatological gathering of believers to Christ at his return. | Distinct from कलीसिया (ongoing church assembly, [BASELINE REUSE]). |
| Temple [of God] | ναός | naos | परमेश्वर दा पवित्तर थां | Parmeshwar da pavittar thaan | God’s own sanctuary, blasphemously usurped by the man of lawlessness (2:4). | Avoid bare मंदर given strong Raghunath Mandir/Bahu Fort associations already flagged in baseline for “church”; qualify explicitly. |
| Object of Worship | σέβασμα | sebasma | पूजे जाणे वाले | pooje jane wale | Any venerated object, image, or shrine — generic, not naming any specific local shrine type. | Distinct from परमेश्वर, reserved exclusively for the true God per baseline. |
| Power [of Satan, counterfeit] | δύναμις (Σατανᾶ) | dynamis (Satana) | शैतान दी सामर्थ | Shaitan di samarth | Satan’s derivative, counterfeit power behind the lawless one — explicitly NOT God’s power. | Must carry explicit “Satan’s” qualifier every occurrence to avoid confusion with baseline’s Critical परमेश्वर दी सामर्थ. |
| Toward Righteousness/Unrighteousness | ἀδικία | adikia | बे-धरमीपन | be-dharmipan | Moral wrongdoing/injustice; direct forensic antonym of धरमीपन ([BASELINE REUSE] righteousness). | Distinct from पाप ([BASELINE REUSE] sin) — names injustice/wrongness in the forensic register Paul uses throughout this passage. |
| Those Who Are Perishing | οἱ ἀπολλύμενοι | hoi apollymenoi | नाश होआ करदे लोक | nash hoa karde lok | People progressively heading toward final judgment/destruction. | Keep terminologically linked to ὄλεθρος (1:9) and ἀπώλεια (2:3) word-family. |
| Boast | καυχάομαι | kauchaomai | गर्व कन्नै दस्सना | garv kannai dassna | Paul’s grateful, testimony-like boasting about the Thessalonians to other churches. | Must read as grateful testimony to grace, not izzat-linked self/lineage-honor assertion. |
| Worthy [of the kingdom/calling] | ἄξιος | axios | लायक | layak | Being considered fit for God’s kingdom/calling — a gracious reckoning, not a merit achievement. | Pair with a note tying to grace, not works-merit, per baseline’s imputed-righteousness guardrail. |
| Work of Faith | ἔργον πίστεως | ergon pisteōs | भरोसे दा कम्म | bharose da kamm | Visible fruit/evidence of genuine faith, God-empowered. | Related to but distinct from baseline’s भरोसे कन्नै ताल्लुक रखदी मन्नता (“obedience of faith”); must not be read as merit earning salvation. |
| Obtain [Glory] | περιποίησις (δόξης) | peripoiēsis (doxēs) | (महिमा) हासल करना | (mahima) hasil karna | Believers’ promised reception (not achievement) of final glory. | Frame as gracious reception, consistent with grace guardrails. |
| Firstfruits / From the Beginning | ἀπαρχή / ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς | aparchē / ap’ archēs | पहला फल / शुरू थमां | pahla phal / shuru thamma | Textual variant: God’s choosing believers as an early “firstfruits” offering, or his eternal pre-temporal choice. | Textual-critical decision required before Phase 2 rendering; if “firstfruits” chosen, avoid linking to any specific local harvest-ritual. |
| Eternal Comfort | παράκλησις αἰωνία | paraklēsis aiōnia | दिलासा | dilasa | God’s abiding consolation, distinct from the baseline’s verb-form हौसला देना (exhortation-to-action). | Comfort-in-affliction, a related but distinguishable nuance from “exhort.” |
| Establish / Strengthen | στηρίζω | stērizō | मजबूत करना | majboot karna | God’s strengthening of believers’ hearts and conduct (2:17, 3:3). | Standard, low-medium risk verb; recurs across chapters 2-3. |
| Word of the Lord | ὁ λόγος τοῦ Κυρίου | ho logos tou Kyriou | प्रभु दा वचन | Prabhu da vachan | The gospel message as authoritative divine speech, whose spread is prayed for. | Keep distinct from generic “word” (शब्द) used non-technically. |
| Deliver / Rescue [situational] | ῥύομαι | rhyomai | बचाना / छुटकारा | bachana / chhutkara | Temporal rescue from present danger/opposition — distinct from eternal उद्धार. | Mandatory note distinguishing from [BASELINE REUSE] salvation (उद्धार). |
| Faithful [of the Lord] | πιστός | pistos | भरोसेमंद | bharosemand | God’s reliable, covenant-keeping character — grounds for confidence. | Natural derivative of established भरोसा root; good consistency opportunity. |
| Command / Charge | παραγγέλλω | parangellō | हुकम देना | hukam dena | Paul’s authoritative apostolic instruction to the church. | Balance real apostolic authority with pastoral warmth; avoid overly militaristic tone. |
| Keep Away From | στέλλομαι | stellomai | दूर रौह्ना | door rehna | Relational distancing (not expulsion) from a disorderly, unrepentant brother. | Pair with 3:15’s “not as an enemy” qualifier. |
| Walking Disorderly / Idle | ἀτάκτως | ataktōs | आलसी ते बेतरतीबी कन्नै चलणा | aalsi te betartibi kannai chalna | Refusing to work and meddling in others’ affairs, contrary to apostolic instruction. | Social/honor sensitivity given izzat culture; requires native speaker calibration for restorative (not shaming) tone. |
| Imitate | μιμέομαι | mimeomai | जि’यां असां कीता उंयां करना | jiyan asaan kita unyan karna | Following Paul’s specific, limited ethical example (self-supporting work). | Distinguish from comprehensive guru-imitation/master-discipleship devotional practice. |
| Eat One’s Own Bread [self-support] | τὸν ἑαυτῶν ἄρτον ἐσθίειν | ton heautōn arton esthiein | अपनी कमाई दी रोटी खाना | apni kamai di roti khana | Self-supporting labor as the proper basis for eating, within the church. | Shares कमाई root with baseline’s grace term; mandatory note distinguishing this social-ethical domain from the never-earned soteriological grace domain. |
| Quietness [demeanor] | ἡσυχία | hēsychia | चुपचाप | chupchap | The calm, undisruptive manner of proper conduct. | Keep distinct from शान्ति ([BASELINE REUSE] peace with God) — a conduct term, not the doctrinal peace category. |
| Sign [authenticating mark] | σημεῖον | sēmeion | निशान (हथ्थैं दा) | nishan (hatthai da) | Paul’s handwritten mark authenticating genuine letters (3:17). | Polysemy risk with 2:9’s “false signs and wonders” — mandate disambiguating translator note. |
| Lord of Peace | ὁ κύριος τῆς εἰρήνης | ho kyrios tēs eirēnēs | शान्ति दा प्रभु | Shanti da Prabhu | Christ himself as source and giver of true peace; closing benediction. | Built from established प्रभु + शान्ति; never महाराजा per baseline’s Critical Lordship guardrail. |
| As a Brother, Not as an Enemy | ὡς ἀδελφόν, οὐχ ὡς ἐχθρόν | hōs adelphon, ouch hōs echthron | भाई समझ के, दुश्मन नां | bhai samajh ke, dushman naan | The explicit relational frame required for all church discipline in this letter. | Must always accompany “ashamed” (3:14) teaching to prevent honor-shame misreading. |
| Evil One [referent ambiguity] | ὁ πονηρός | ho ponēros | बुरा (शैतान?) | bura (Shaitan?) | Ambiguous: Satan personally, or evil generically (3:3). | Flag for translator decision whether to tie explicitly to शैतान from ch. 2. |
| Direct [hearts] | κατευθύνω | kateuthynō | सेध देना | sedh dena | The Lord guiding believers’ hearts toward love and endurance (3:5). | Low-medium; standard guidance vocabulary. |

Critical Risk Terms
Grace
Approved rendering: बिना कमाई दित्ती दया
Transliteration: bina kamai ditti daya
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: मन्नत दा फल (a boon granted in response to a vow, as sought at Vaishno Devi shrine; never use), पुण्य (merit earned through right action, never use)
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs in every chapter’s greeting/closing (1:2, 1:12, 2:16, 3:18). 2:16 pairs grace directly with ‘good hope’ — the mannat (vow-for-boon) guardrail already active for grace must now explicitly extend to that pairing.
Salvation
Approved rendering: उद्धार
Transliteration: uddhar
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: मुक्ति (liberation from the rebirth cycle, never use), मनोकामना पूरी होना (a wish/boon granted, as through a vow at Vaishno Devi, never use)
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. In 2:10 and 2:13 salvation is set in direct antithesis to ‘perishing’ among those who reject the truth; never मुक्ति and never a shrine-vow-granted wish.
Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: पवित्तर आत्मा
Transliteration: pavittar aatma
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: शक्ति (goddess-power, e.g. as embodied at Vaishno Devi and Bahu Fort, never use), परमात्मा alone (Hindu universal Self, never use)
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 2:13 as agent of sanctification; never शक्ति, never bare परमात्मा.
Lord
Approved rendering: प्रभु
Transliteration: prabhu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: महाराजा (a title strongly associated with the historic Dogra royal dynasty, avoid as the primary term for Christ’s Lordship)
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology

God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर
Transliteration: Parmeshwar
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: भगवान (broad Hindu deity usage, avoid for doctrinal precision)
Original: θεός
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. Reserved exclusively for the true God throughout; 2:4’s ‘every so-called god’ refers generically to false deities and must NOT use this term (see object_of_worship).
Jesus
Approved rendering: यीशु
Transliteration: Yishu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ईसा (used in Muslim/Urdu-influenced contexts; reserve for interfaith-dialogue framing only)
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs throughout, paired consistently with ‘Lord’ and ‘Christ’ in the letter’s opening and closing formulas.
Father
Approved rendering: पिता
Transliteration: pita
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Original: πατήρ
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:1-2 and 2:16 (‘God our Father, who loved us’).
Day Of The Lord
Approved rendering: प्रभु दा दिन
Transliteration: Prabhu da din
Doctrine: The Day of the Lord
Rejected alternatives: कल्कि दा आना (Kalki’s coming, the prophesied final Vishnu avatar who ends the current cosmic age, never use), युग दा खात्मा (end of the cosmic yuga-cycle framing, never use)
Original: ἡ ἡμέρα τοῦ Κυρίου
Category: Eschatology
CRITICAL: must be taught, every occurrence, as a single, unrepeatable historical event bound to Christ’s own personal return — never a yuga-cycle turning point, never an occasion for a Kalki-like avatar’s cyclical arrival to restore dharma. Occurs 2:1-2, 2:8.
Man Of Lawlessness
Approved rendering: बे-व्यवस्था दा मनुख
Transliteration: be-vyavastha da manukh
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Rejected alternatives: असुर (a mythic demon-class cyclically defeated by a divine avatar in Puranic narrative, never use), अधरमी मनुख (built on धरम/अधर्म, avoided due to Dogra Rajput lineage-duty associations already flagged in baseline for law/righteousness)
Original: ὁ ἄνθρωπος τῆς ἀνομίας
Category: Man of Lawlessness
CRITICAL: built on the baseline’s established व्यवस्था (law) root, not धरम, to avoid both the avatar-vs-demon mythic pattern and the Dogra Rajput lineage-duty collision. A single, historical, future individual empowered by Satan, not a repeatable mythic type. Occurs 2:3.
Lawlessness
Approved rendering: बे-व्यवस्था
Transliteration: be-vyavastha
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Rejected alternatives: अधर्म (never use — dharm-root collision)
Original: ἀνομία
Category: Man of Lawlessness
CRITICAL: keep visually linked to बे-व्यवस्था दा मनुख across 2:3, 2:7, 2:8 so readers recognize continuity of the same figure/character.
Lawless One
Approved rendering: बे-व्यवस्था वाला
Transliteration: be-vyavastha wala
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Rejected alternatives: असुर, अधरमी
Original: ὁ ἄνομος
Category: Man of Lawlessness
CRITICAL: same figure as ‘man of lawlessness,’ named by his defining character at 2:8; must remain terminologically linked, not read as a separate enemy.
Son Of Destruction
Approved rendering: नाश दा पुत्तर
Transliteration: nash da puttar
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Rejected alternatives: अवतार दा पुत्तर (never use — avatar-lineage framing)
Original: ὁ υἱὸς τῆς ἀπωλείας
Category: Man of Lawlessness
CRITICAL: a Semitic idiom (‘destined for destruction’), not literal parentage. Must never be confused with परमेश्वर दा पुत्तर (Son of God, baseline). Mandatory translator note every occurrence distinguishing this idiom from actual divine/adoptive sonship. Occurs 2:3.
Divine Judicial Delusion
Approved rendering: भुलेखा (दा असर)
Transliteration: bhulekha (da asar)
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Rejected alternatives: माया (never use — the foundational Advaita Vedantic term for the illusion veiling ultimate reality; would relocate this verse from moral/judicial theology into metaphysical cosmology), भ्रम (milder but related Vedantic resonance, avoid as primary term)
Original: ἐνέργεια πλάνης
Category: Man of Lawlessness
CRITICAL — the single highest-salience collision risk in this book. Every occurrence requires an explicit clause naming God as the active, judicial sender (e.g. ‘परमेश्वर आपै उंना गिच्च भुलेखा भेजदा है’), not a claim about the world’s illusory nature. Occurs 2:11. Human theologian review mandatory; zero tolerance for माया/भ्रम family.
Eternal Destruction
Approved rendering: सदा दा नाश
Transliteration: sada da nash
Doctrine: God’s Righteous Judgment
Rejected alternatives: नरक च अस्थाई दुख (temporary suffering within a naraka/hell-realm inside an ongoing rebirth cycle, never use as an equivalent)
Original: ὄλεθρος αἰώνιος
Category: Judgment
CRITICAL: final, permanent, unending ruin, taught as non-cyclical, parallel to the baseline’s guarding of resurrection against पुनर्जन्म. Occurs 1:9.
Traditions
Approved rendering: भेजे होयां दी सिखलाई
Transliteration: bheje hoyan di sikhlai
Doctrine: Standing Firm in the Traditions
Rejected alternatives: परंपरा (parampara — guru-to-disciple lineage transmission, never use), सम्प्रदाय (sampradaya — sectarian religious tradition, never use), रीत-रिवाज (rīt-rivāj — Dogra Rajput customary/honor-bound social practice, already rejected in baseline for ‘obedience of faith,’ never use here either)
Original: παράδοσις / παραδόσεις
Category: Standing Firm in the Traditions
CORE DOCTRINE. Built on the baseline’s established भेजेआ होया (‘apostle’ = ‘one who has been sent’) to preserve terminological continuity. Flag for revision if Phase 2 adopts a shorter noun form for ‘apostle’ (e.g. प्रेरित), in which case revise to प्रेरितां दी सिखलाई. Occurs 2:15 and 3:6 — same referent both times, spanning doctrinal AND practical/ethical apostolic instruction. Human theologian review mandatory on every occurrence.
High Risk Terms
Gospel
Approved rendering: खरी खबर
Transliteration: khari khabar
Doctrine: Gospel
Rejected alternatives: सुसमाचार (a Hindi Christian loanword; avoid as the default rendering so this curriculum reads as Dogri, not Hindi with Devanagari spelling)
Original: εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. In 2 Thessalonians 1:8 and 2:14 the gospel is specifically the message that must not be disobeyed or ignored; must convey an authoritative announcement, not generic good news. Confirm against the BSI Dogri Bible before wide deployment.
Faith
Approved rendering: भरोसा
Transliteration: bharosa
Doctrine: Faith
Rejected alternatives: श्रद्धा (generalized devotional reverence, too broad)
Original: πίστις
Category: Faith
Inherited from Romans package. In 2 Thessalonians, faith is described as ‘growing abundantly’ (1:3) and is the object of Paul’s prayer request (3:2); the object of faith must remain explicit in every occurrence.
Election
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दी चोन
Transliteration: Parmeshwar di chon
Doctrine: Effectual Calling
Rejected alternatives: किस्मत (fate, never use), मन्नत दा नतीजा (a boon-outcome, never use)
Original: εἵλατο (αἱρέομαι)
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. 2:13’s ‘God chose you as firstfruits/from the beginning’ must be taught as sovereign, personal choice, never किस्मत and never the outcome of a pilgrimage vow.

Transliteration: pavittarta
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: शुद्धिकरण (ritual purification rites, avoid as a substitute)
Original: ἁγιασμός
Category: Sanctification
Inherited from Romans package. Names the means (2:13) by which God’s election is realized in the believer; never शुद्धिकरण.
Glory
Approved rendering: महिमा
Transliteration: mahima
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: δόξα
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:9, 1:12, 2:14; avoid ceremonial-splendor/aarti-lamp metaphors that could conflate with temple darshan imagery.
Power Of God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दी सामर्थ
Transliteration: Parmeshwar di samarth
Doctrine: Power of God for Salvation
Rejected alternatives: शक्ति (associated with goddess-power devotion, as at Bahu Fort’s Kali shrine and Vaishno Devi, avoid as the primary term)
Original: δύναμις θεοῦ
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:7, 1:9, 1:11; must be sharply distinguished from the counterfeit ‘power of Satan’ explicitly named at 2:9 (see power_of_satan_counterfeit).
Calling
Approved rendering: सद्द
Transliteration: sadd
Doctrine: Divine Calling
Original: κλῆσις
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:11 (‘make you worthy of his calling’).
Called
Approved rendering: सद्देआ होया
Transliteration: saddea hoya
Doctrine: Divine Calling
Rejected alternatives: सद्दा दित्ता (invited, too weak)
Original: καλέω / ἐκάλεσεν
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 2:14 (‘he called you through our gospel’); the effectual, sovereign sense is active here, paired with election (2:13).
Sin
Approved rendering: पाप
Transliteration: paap
Doctrine: Universal Human Accountability
Rejected alternatives: भिट्ट (ritual impurity/pollution, avoid as a substitute)
Original: ἁμαρτία / ἀδικία (related)
Category: Sin
Inherited from Romans package. Forms the implicit background category to ἀδικία (unrighteousness) throughout 2:10-12; never भिट्ट.
Saints
Approved rendering: पवित्तर लोक
Transliteration: pavittar lok
Doctrine: Sainthood
Rejected alternatives: साधु (an ascetic holy man, never use for the corporate sense)
Original: ἅγιοι
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans package. Background category for ‘his saints’ (1:10) and ‘the beloved brothers’ (2:13); never साधु.
Mystery Of Lawlessness
Approved rendering: बे-व्यवस्था दा भेद
Transliteration: be-vyavastha da bhed
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Rejected alternatives: रहस्य (esoteric/tantric secret knowledge for initiates, avoid), गुह्य (same risk, avoid)
Original: μυστήριον τῆς ἀνομίας
Category: Man of Lawlessness
Biblical ‘mystery’ is a truth God determines to disclose, on his own timing, to all who believe — not esoteric knowledge reserved for a spiritual elite. Occurs 2:7.
Counterfeit Signs And Wonders
Approved rendering: झूठे निशान ते अचम्भे
Transliteration: jhoothe nishan te achambhe
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Rejected alternatives: चमत्कार unqualified (avoid — strong association with miracle-narratives at Vaishno Devi and the Baba Jitto shrine tradition)
Original: σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα ψεύδους
Category: Man of Lawlessness
The falsity-qualifier झूठे is mandatory every occurrence at 2:9; contrast with 3:17’s unrelated authenticating ‘sign’ sense (see sign_authenticating_mark) — flag polysemy to prevent cross-contamination.
Satan
Approved rendering: शैतान
Transliteration: Shaitan
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Rejected alternatives: असुर (Puranic demon-class, cyclically defeated by an avatar, never use), राक्षस (same risk, never use)
Original: Σατανᾶς
Category: Man of Lawlessness
शैतान is the widely attested regional loanword functioning as a recognizable proper name for the singular biblical Adversary across North Indian Christian/Muslim usage. Occurs 2:9.
Apostasy Apostasia
Approved rendering: भरोसे थमां हटना
Transliteration: bharose thamma hatna
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Rejected alternatives: धर्म परिवर्तन (ordinary religious conversion/sect-switching, too weak/generic, avoid)
Original: ἀποστασία
Category: Man of Lawlessness
Built on the established भरोसा (faith) root; must convey a specific, foretold, end-time falling away from Christ, not routine religious conversion common in the pluralistic North Indian landscape. Occurs 2:3.
Restrainer
Approved rendering: जेह्ड़ी चीज़ / जेह्ड़ा कोई हुण रोकी रक्खी है
Transliteration: jehdi cheez / jehda koi hun roki rakkhi hai
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Original: τὸ κατέχον / ὁ κατέχων
Category: Man of Lawlessness
HIGH — interpretive-fidelity risk, not syncretism risk. Dogri grammar may force an earlier gendered/personal choice than the Greek’s deliberate neuter (2:6) to masculine (2:7) shift permits. Preserve ambiguity; mandatory translator note flagging interpretive options (Roman state, gospel proclamation, providential order, angelic power) for human theologian review rather than resolving the referent.
Gods Righteous Judgment
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दा धरमी नियाव / दोषी ठहराए जाना
Transliteration: Parmeshwar da dharmi niyav / doshi thehrae jana
Doctrine: God’s Righteous Judgment
Rejected alternatives: कर्म-फल (impersonal cosmic law automatically ripening one’s own past deeds, never use)
Original: δίκαιον (κρίμα) / κρίνω / κρίσις
Category: Judgment
Built as the negative structural counterpart to the baseline’s established धर्मी ठहराए जाना (justification) to preserve the forensic courtroom register; must be a personal Judge’s verdict. Occurs 1:5-9, 2:12.
Retribution Vengeance
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दा नियाव-भरा बदला
Transliteration: Parmeshwar da niyav-bhara badla
Doctrine: God’s Righteous Judgment
Original: ἐκδίκησις
Category: Judgment
Must never be assimilated to izzat-driven honor-vengeance/vendetta custom (Dogra Rajput retaliation-to-restore-honor); executed solely by God, never a license for human retaliation. Occurs 1:8.
Perseverance Endurance
Approved rendering: सहनशीलता
Transliteration: sahanshilta
Doctrine: Perseverance under Persecution
Rejected alternatives: तपस्या (ascetic austerity for spiritual merit/power, never use), वैराग्य (renunciant detachment from worldly suffering, never use)
Original: ὑπομονή
Category: Perseverance
CORE DOCTRINE. Active, hope-filled persistence grounded in confident expectation of Christ’s vindicating return, not self-directed merit-accumulation or withdrawal. Occurs 1:4, 3:5.
Persecution
Approved rendering: जुल्म
Transliteration: zulm
Doctrine: Perseverance under Persecution
Original: διωγμός
Category: Perseverance
Must be explicitly taught as suffering FOR the gospel, not consequence OF the sufferer’s own past wrongdoing (karma-phal) — a live interpretive risk given karma’s cultural dominance as the default explanation for suffering in the region. Occurs 1:4.
Affliction
Approved rendering: दुख
Transliteration: dukh
Doctrine: Perseverance under Persecution
Original: θλῖψις
Category: Perseverance
दुख is unavoidable as the natural word but is simultaneously the foundational term for philosophical dukkha in Buddhist/Hindu thought. Mandatory translator note every occurrence distinguishing this specific, temporal, faith-caused, hope-endured affliction from that philosophical category. Occurs 1:4, 1:6.
Guard Protect
Approved rendering: बचाणा
Transliteration: bachana
Doctrine: Perseverance under Persecution
Rejected alternatives: रक्षा करना (standard word for goddess-protection, e.g. Kali at Bahu Fort, the goddess at Vaishno Devi sought through vows; avoid)
Original: φυλάσσω / φυλάξει
Category: Perseverance
Direct parallel to the baseline’s Critical guarding of शक्ति for God’s power/Holy Spirit. Occurs 3:3.
Stand Firm
Approved rendering: स्थिर खड़े रहो
Transliteration: sthir khade raho
Doctrine: Standing Firm in the Traditions
Original: στήκετε
Category: Standing Firm in the Traditions
High risk in combination with ‘traditions’: standing firm ‘in the traditions’ must not be read as standing firm in inherited Dogra Rajput custom or honor-code (rīt-rivāj/izzat), the same risk the baseline already flags for ‘obedience of faith.’ Occurs 2:15.
Ashamed Church Discipline
Approved rendering: शरमाना
Transliteration: sharmana
Doctrine: Standing Firm in the Traditions
Original: ἐντραπῇ
Category: Standing Firm in the Traditions
The sharpest honor-culture risk term in the book: in Dogra Rajput izzat culture, inducing ‘shame’ can carry connotations of severe, even permanent, social/honor loss and exclusion. Requires BOTH theologian and native speaker review, always paired with ‘as a brother, not as an enemy’ (3:15). Occurs 3:14.
As Brother Not Enemy
Approved rendering: भाई समझ के, दुश्मन नां
Transliteration: bhai samajh ke, dushman naan
Doctrine: Standing Firm in the Traditions
Original: ὡς ἀδελφόν, οὐχ ὡς ἐχθρόν
Category: Standing Firm in the Traditions

Love
Approved rendering: प्यार
Transliteration: pyar
Doctrine: Love Growing Among Believers
Rejected alternatives: प्रेम (strong Radha-Krishna romantic-devotional association in regional bhakti tradition, avoid as the primary formal-register term)
Original: ἀγάπη
Category: Faith
Not present in the Romans baseline; load-bearing across all three chapters of this book. Register-check with native speaker recommended for formal Scripture usage. Occurs 1:3, 2:16, 3:5.
Love Of The Truth
Approved rendering: सच्चाई कन्नै प्यार
Transliteration: sachai kannai pyar
Doctrine: Sanctification through Belief of the Truth
Rejected alternatives: सच्चाई कन्नै प्रेम (avoid प्रेम)
Original: ἡ ἀγάπη τῆς ἀληθείας
Category: Faith
Wholehearted, saving embrace of the gospel message, contrasted with mere intellectual assent or its rejection. Occurs 2:10.
Truth
Approved rendering: सच्चाई
Transliteration: sachai
Doctrine: Sanctification through Belief of the Truth
Rejected alternatives: सत्य (strong association with cosmic-dharmic order, e.g. Satya Yuga; avoid as the primary term to prevent an impersonal-cosmic-principle reading)
Original: ἀλήθεια
Category: Faith
Personal, revealed gospel truth, embraced or rejected. Occurs 2:10, 2:12, 2:13.
Hope Good Hope
Approved rendering: आस (भली आस)
Transliteration: aas (bhali aas)
Doctrine: Good Hope through Grace
Original: ἐλπὶς ἀγαθή
Category: Faith
Not present in the Romans baseline; requires the same grace/mannat guardrail already established for ‘grace,’ since 2:16 explicitly pairs ‘good hope’ with grace — hope must never be framed as a wish pursued through a shrine vow. Occurs 2:16.
Medium Risk Terms
Church
Approved rendering: कलीसिया
Transliteration: kalisiya
Doctrine: Church as God’s People
Rejected alternatives: मंदर (temple, e.g. Raghunath Mandir/Bahu Fort, never use)

Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दा राज्य
Transliteration: Parmeshwar da rajya
Doctrine: Kingdom Mission
Original: βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ

Power Of Satan Counterfeit
Approved rendering: शैतान दी सामर्थ
Transliteration: Shaitan di samarth
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Original: δύναμις (τοῦ Σατανᾶ)
Category: Man of Lawlessness
Must carry the explicit ‘Satan’s’ qualifier every occurrence to avoid confusion with the baseline’s Critical परमेश्वर दी सामर्थ (God’s power). Occurs 2:9.
Temple Of God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दा पवित्तर थां
Transliteration: Parmeshwar da pavittar thaan
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Rejected alternatives: मंदर bare (avoid — strong Raghunath Mandir/Bahu Fort association already flagged in baseline for ‘church’)
Original: ναός (τοῦ θεοῦ)
Category: Man of Lawlessness
The qualified phrase keeps the cosmic-blasphemy sense (a usurper claiming God’s own sanctuary) distinct from a rival-temple-enthronement reading. Occurs 2:4. Flag for human theologian review given parallel concern to baseline’s ‘church’ entry.
Object Of Worship
Approved rendering: पूजे जाणे वाले
Transliteration: pooje jane wale
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Original: σέβασμα / λεγόμενος θεός

Transliteration: be-dharmipan
Doctrine: God’s Righteous Judgment

Transliteration: nash hoa karde lok

Doctrine: Perseverance under Persecution

Faithful

Transliteration: dilasa
Doctrine: Good Hope through Grace
Original: παράκλησις αἰωνία
Category: Perseverance

Transliteration: Prabhu da vachan

Transliteration: aalsi te betartibi kannai chalna
Doctrine: Standing Firm in the Traditions
Original: ἀτάκτως / ἀτακτεῖν
Category: Standing Firm in the Traditions
Social/honor sensitivity: publicly naming someone ‘idle/disorderly’ carries heavier shame-weight in the izzat-conscious Dogra Rajput cultural context than the passage’s restorative pastoral intent. Requires native speaker AND theologian calibration. Occurs 3:6, 3:11.
Imitate
Approved rendering: जि’यां असां कीता उंयां करना
Transliteration: jiyan asaan kita unyan karna
Doctrine: Standing Firm in the Traditions

Transliteration: apni kamai di roti khana
Doctrine: Standing Firm in the Traditions

Category: Standing Firm in the Traditions
Shares the कमाई (earning) root with the baseline’s grace term बिना कमाई दित्ती दया. Occurs 3:12.
Quietness
Approved rendering: चुपचाप
Transliteration: chupchap
Doctrine: Standing Firm in the Traditions
Original: μετὰ ἡσυχίας
Category: Standing Firm in the Traditions

Approved rendering: निशान (हथ्थैं दा)
Transliteration: nishan (hatthai da)
Doctrine: Standing Firm in the Traditions
Original: σημεῖον

Transliteration: pahla phal / shuru thamma
Doctrine: Effectual Calling and Election to Salvation
Original: ἀπαρχή / ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς
Category: Faith
Textual variant (ἀπαρχήν ‘firstfruits’ vs. ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς ‘from the beginning’); textual-critical decision required before Phase 2 rendering; if ‘firstfruits’ is followed, avoid linking to any specific local harvest-ritual offering practice. Occurs 2:13.
Boast
Approved rendering: गर्व कन्नै दस्सना
Transliteration: garv kannai dassna
Doctrine: Perseverance under Persecution

Transliteration: Prabhu da aana
Doctrine: The Day of the Lord
Original: παρουσία
