Core Glossary
Core Glossary — Matthew — English → Dogri
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing term identified in analysis/07_semantic_analysis.md, organized by the nine curriculum doctrines. Terms already present in the baseline Romans translation_memory.json are marked [BASELINE] and MUST be reused exactly as recorded there — no re-negotiation of those renderings is permitted. Terms newly required by Matthew are marked [NEW] with a proposed rendering carried forward from the semantic analysis, pending Phase 2 confirmation against the BSI Dogri Bible where noted.
Risk tier legend: Critical / High / Medium / Low (definitions per baseline doctrine_risk_registry.json).
Doctrine 1: The Kingdom of Heaven
| English Term | Dogri Rendering | Transliteration | Status | Risk | Chapters | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| kingdom of heaven / kingdom of God | परमेश्वर दा राज्य | Parmeshwar da rajya | [BASELINE reused, extended] | Critical | 3-13, 18-25 (pervasive, ~32x) | Deliberately maps Matthew’s “kingdom of heaven” onto the baseline’s kingdom_of_god term. स्वर्ग दा राज्य explicitly REJECTED — collides with the Hindu cosmological svarga (a temporary, karma-earned heavenly abode within the rebirth cycle), which would wrongly imply merit-based, temporary kingdom entrance. |
| poor in spirit | आत्मा च कंगाल | aatma cha kangal | [NEW] | High | 5:3 | Guard against ascetic-renunciation (sannyasa) misreading; not literal poverty as virtue in itself. |
| shut the kingdom of heaven | परमेश्वर दा राज्य बंद करना | Parmeshwar da rajya band karna | [NEW] | High | 23:13 | Carries forward the Critical kingdom_of_heaven decision above. |
| mysteries of the kingdom | भेद जेह्ड़े हुण जोर करी दित्ते गेये न | bhed jehde hun jor kari ditte geye ne | [NEW] | High | 13:11 | Revealed truth grasped by faith, not occult/tantric secret knowledge requiring ritual initiation. |
| treasure in heaven | स्वर्ग च खजाना | swarg cha khajana | [NEW] | High | 6:19-21 | स्वर्ग retained here (unlike kingdom_of_heaven) but flagged: popular svarga is impermanent, the opposite of the text’s point (imperishable treasure); requires explicit teaching gloss. |
Doctrine 2: Jesus as the Promised Messiah and Son of David
| English Term | Dogri Rendering | Transliteration | Status | Risk | Chapters | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Christ / Messiah | मसीह | Masih | [BASELINE] | Critical | 1, 11, 16, 22, 24, 26-27 | Reused exactly. |
| Son of David | दाऊद दा पुत्तर | Daud da puttar | [NEW] | Critical | 1, 9, 12, 15, 20-21 | Distinct from baseline seed_of_david (लिनेज descriptor); this is a direct messianic title/address. Must not blur with son_of_god. |
| seed of David | दाऊद दे वंश चा | Daud de vansh cha | [BASELINE] | High | 1:1-17 (genealogy) | Reused exactly for genealogical descent language. |
| the one who is to come | आवणे आह्ला | aavne aahla | [NEW] | Critical | 11:3 | Ties directly to baseline messianic_promise doctrine. |
| King of the Jews | यहूदियां दा राजा | Yahudiyan da raja | [NEW] | High | 2:2, 27:11,29,37 | Dramatic irony (mocking title, literally true). NEVER महाराजा — same forbidden-substitution logic as baseline’s “Lord” entry. |
| cornerstone | नींह दा पत्थर | nih da patthar | [NEW] | High | 21:42 | Messianic rejection-then-vindication pattern (Psalm 118); ties to fulfillment_of_prophecy. |

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

| prophet | नबी | nabi | [BASELINE] | Low | throughout | Reused exactly; never ज्योतषी. |

| teach / taught | सिखाना | sikhana | [NEW] | Low | throughout | Must stay distinct from शास्त्री-फरीसी derivative teaching. |
| scribes and Pharisees | शास्त्री ते फरीसी | shastri te farisi | [NEW] | Medium/High | 5, 9, 12, 15, 23 | शास्त्री carries Hindu-scripture-scholar associations; clarify as Jewish legal scholars specifically. |
| Son of Man | मानखे दा पुत्तर | mankhe da puttar | [NEW] | Critical | 8, 9, 12, 16-17, 19-20, 24-26 | Danielic authority/judgment title; NOT mere “a human being.” Built on baseline’s established मानखे root (incarnation term). |

| eternal life | सदा दी जिंदगी | sada di zindagi | [NEW] | Critical | 19:16,29; 25:46 | Distinguish from Hindu doctrine of the atman’s inherent, natural immortality; this is a given, resurrection-secured share in God’s life. |
| eternal punishment | सदा दी सज़ा | sada di saza | [NEW] | Critical | 25:46 | Final, everlasting — not a temporary karmic punishment-realm. |
| hell / Gehenna | नरक (+ सदा दी अग्गी qualifier recommended) | narak (+ sada di aggi) | [NEW] | Critical | 5:22,29-30; 10:28; 18:9; 23:15,33 | नरक alone risks collision with Hindu cosmology’s temporary punitive realms within samsara; recommend descriptive qualifier “everlasting fire,” parallel to baseline’s resurrection/पुनर्जन्म methodology. |

| crucify / crucifixion | सल़ीब उप्पर चढ़ाना | salib uppar chadhana | [NEW] | Critical | 26-27 | Must NOT be assimilated to the local Baba Jitto folk-martyr cult (self-sacrifice against injustice); Christ’s death is uniquely atoning for sin, not protest-martyrdom. |
| persecuted (for righteousness’/my sake) | सताए जाना | satae jana | [NEW] | High | 5:10-12, 10 | Subverts izzat-culture honor/shame calculus. |
| confess / deny (Christ) | मन्नना / मुकरना | manna / mukarna | [NEW] | High | 10:32-33, 26:69-75 (Peter) | Public identification cost. |
| yoke / burden (Jesus’s easy yoke) | जुआ / भार | jua / bhar | [NEW] | Medium/High | 11:28-30 | Rabbinic “yoke of Torah” background; contrasts grace-discipleship with performance-burden. |

| new covenant (body and blood) | नमां नियम | nawan niyam | [BASELINE-style, extended] | Critical | 26:26-28 | Extends baseline covenant term to its climactic referent; must not be equated with regional blood-sacrifice practice. |
| reward | ईनाम | inaam | [NEW] | Critical | 5:12,46; 6:1-18; 10:41-42; 16:27 | NEVER फल — direct collision with baseline’s already-rejected मन्नत दा फल (vow-boon) phrase for grace. |
| faith (little faith) | भरोसा (थोड़ा भरोसा) | bharosa (thoda bharosa) | [BASELINE] | High | 8, 14, 15, 17 | Reused exactly; object of faith always specified. |

Critical Risk Terms
Grace
Approved rendering: बिना कमाई दित्ती दया
Transliteration: bina kamai ditti daya
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: मन्नत दा फल (a boon granted in response to a vow, Vaishno Devi; never use), पुण्य (merit earned through right action; never use)
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Governs Matthew’s forgiveness_and_grace doctrine (6:12; 18:21-35; laborers in the vineyard 20:1-16) and underlies why फल is forbidden for ‘reward’ (see reward entry below).
Righteousness
Approved rendering: धरमीपन
Transliteration: dharmipan
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: धरम (avoid bare sense of caste/lineage duty tied to Dogra Rajput izzat honor)
Original: δικαιοσύνη
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Load-bearing across Matthew’s Righteousness Exceeding the Pharisees doctrine (5:6,10,20,48; 6:1-18,33; 15:1-20; 23:1-36); never bare धरम.
Justification
Approved rendering: धर्मी ठहराए जाना
Transliteration: dharmi thehrae jana
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: माफी मिलना (forgiveness received, too narrow)
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Less textually prominent in Matthew than in Romans but retained for doctrinal consistency wherever forensic righteousness is taught alongside righteousness_exceeding_pharisees material.
Salvation
Approved rendering: उद्धार
Transliteration: uddhar
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: मुक्ति (liberation from rebirth cycle; never use), मनोकामना पूरी होना (a wish/boon granted, as at Vaishno Devi; never use)
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Ties directly to Matthew 1:21, ‘he will save his people from their sins.‘
Resurrection
Approved rendering: मुर्दघरा चा जिंदा होना
Transliteration: murdaghara cha jinda hona
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ
Rejected alternatives: पुनर्जन्म (reincarnation; never use)
Original: ἀνάστασις
Category: Eschatology
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Governing term for Matthew 12:39-40 (sign of Jonah), 22:23-33 (Sadducee debate), and chapters 27-28 (Christ’s own resurrection). Never पुनर्जन्म anywhere in Matthew.
Lord
Approved rendering: प्रभु
Transliteration: prabhu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: महाराजा (historic Dogra dynastic title; avoid as primary term)
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Same forbidden-substitution logic extends to king_of_the_jews (2:2; 27:11,29,37) below: never महाराजा.
Son Of God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दा पुत्तर
Transliteration: Parmeshwar da puttar
Doctrine: Sonship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: अवतार (incarnate deity-descent, e.g. Rama at Raghunath Mandir; explicit downgrade, rejected)
Original: υἱὸς θεοῦ
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Reserved EXCLUSIVELY for Christ’s unique, eternal, co-equal Sonship (3:17; 4:3,6; 14:33; 16:16; 17:5; 26:63; 27:40,43,54). NEVER used for believers’ adoptive sonship at 5:9,45 — see sons_of_god_believers entry below, which uses a different term family deliberately.
Incarnation
Approved rendering: मानखे दा रूप लैना
Transliteration: mankhe da roop laina
Doctrine: Incarnation
Rejected alternatives: अवतार (never use; Raghunath Mandir’s Rama-avatar devotion is the single highest-salience wrong word in the Duggar region)
Original: ὁ λόγος σὰρξ ἐγένετο
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Directly tied to Matthew 1:18-23’s virgin conception and the immanuel title. The मानखे root also underlies son_of_man (मानखे दा पुत्तर) below.
Messiah
Approved rendering: मसीह
Transliteration: masih
Doctrine: Messianic Promise
Original: Χριστός / מָשִׁיחַ
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Occurs 1:1,16-17; 11:2; 16:16,20; 22:42; 24:5,23-24; 26:63,68; 27:17,22.
Jesus
Approved rendering: यीशु
Transliteration: Yishu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ईसा (Muslim/Urdu-influenced form; reserve for interfaith-dialogue framing only)
Original: Ἰησοῦς / יֵשׁוּעַ
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Confirm against the BSI Dogri Bible for the exact settled form.
God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर
Transliteration: Parmeshwar
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: भगवान (broad Hindu deity usage; avoid for doctrinal precision)
Original: θεός / אֱלֹהִים / יהוה
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Matthew’s monotheistic claims run continually against the backdrop of Duggar polytheistic devotional practice; this precision matters throughout.
Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: पवित्तर आत्मा
Transliteration: pavittar aatma
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: शक्ति (goddess-power, Vaishno Devi/Bahu Fort; never use), परमात्मा alone (Hindu universal Self; never use)
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Load-bearing at Christ’s conception (1:18,20), his baptism (3:16), the blasphemy warning (12:31-32), and the Trinitarian baptismal formula (28:19).
Father
Approved rendering: पिता
Transliteration: pita
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Original: πατήρ
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Consistency required across the Lord’s Prayer (6:9) and the Trinitarian baptismal formula (28:19), per the baseline’s cross-document consistency rule for high-use pastoral texts.
Imputed Righteousness
Approved rendering: गिनी गेई धरमीपन
Transliteration: gini gei dharmipan
Doctrine: Justification by Faith
Rejected alternatives: कमाई गेई धरमीपन (earned righteousness, explicit rejected opposite)
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Retained for doctrinal consistency; no direct Matthew citation but conceptually underlies righteousness_exceeding_pharisees material (5:6,20).
Kingdom Of Heaven
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दा राज्य
Transliteration: Parmeshwar da rajya
Doctrine: The Kingdom of Heaven
Rejected alternatives: स्वर्ग दा राज्य (FORBIDDEN: collides with Hindu svarga cosmology — a temporary, merit-earned heavenly abode within the rebirth cycle, the near-opposite of Matthew’s permanent, gift-received kingdom)
Original: βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν
Category: Kingdom
NEW for Matthew, extending baseline kingdom_of_god verbatim. Matthew’s ~32 occurrences (3:2; 4:17; 5:3,10; 6:33; 13:11,44-46; 18:3; 19:14; 25:1-13) treat ‘heaven’ as Matthew’s own reverential circumlocution for God’s name, not a distinct place-word. Every occurrence requires theologian review on first pass per chapter.
Beatitude Blessed
Approved rendering: धन्न
Transliteration: dhann
Doctrine: The Kingdom of Heaven / Beatitudes Kingdom Reversal
Rejected alternatives: धन्य (Hindi Christian import; avoid as default), भाग्यशाली (fortunate, from भाग्य/fate; consistent with baseline’s किस्मत rejection)
NEW, core passage term (Matthew 5:3-11, 9 occurrences). धन्न is phonetically/visually close to धन (‘wealth’) and must never suggest the wealthy/prosperous are blessed — the Beatitudes bless the poor, mourning, and persecuted, directly inverting Dogra Rajput izzat honor-calculus. Confirm against BSI Dogri Bible; mandatory theologian review at first use, native-speaker consistency check thereafter.
Sons Of God Believers
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दे पुत्तर सद्दे जाङन
Transliteration: Parmeshwar de puttar sadde jaan
Doctrine: Adoptive Sonship of Believers
Rejected alternatives: परमेश्वर दा पुत्तर (FORBIDDEN here: reserved exclusively for Christ’s unique, eternal Sonship, e.g. 27:54)
Original: υἱοὶ Θεοῦ κληθήσονται
Category: Salvation
NEW, Matthew 5:9,45; 6:9; 23:9. Uses the baseline सद्देआ होया / calling-term family instead, aligning with the baseline adoption doctrine, so believers’ derived sonship remains visually and doctrinally distinct from Christ’s unique Sonship. Theologian review mandatory to confirm which sense is active at every ‘son(s) of God’ occurrence.
For My Sake
Approved rendering: मेरे कारण
Transliteration: mere karan
Doctrine: Discipleship and the Cost of Following Jesus
Rejected alternatives: equating suffering ‘for my sake’ with the Baba Jitto folk-martyr self-sacrifice-against-injustice narrative (Aghar Jitto shrine, Jitto Da Mela)
Original: ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ
Category: Discipleship
NEW, Matthew 5:11. Must be preserved precisely: blessing is tied to identification with Christ specifically, distinct in kind from admirable but categorically different social-justice protest-martyrdom.
Reward
Approved rendering: ईनाम
Transliteration: inaam
Doctrine: Stewardship and Reward
Rejected alternatives: फल (FORBIDDEN: collides directly with baseline’s already-rejected मन्नत दा फल, a vow-granted boon at Vaishno Devi)
Original: μισθός
Category: Discipleship
NEW, Matthew 5:12,46; 6:1-6,16-18; 10:41-42; 16:27; 25:14-30. Sits precisely at the grace/merit seam the baseline protects for ‘grace’ itself; God’s reward is itself a gift. Theologian review mandatory on every occurrence.
Son Of David
Approved rendering: दाऊद दा पुत्तर
Transliteration: Daud da puttar
Doctrine: Jesus as the Promised Messiah and Son of David
Rejected alternatives: bare genealogical honor-claim readily supplied by Dogra Rajput lineage-consciousness (izzat, royal descent) without messianic content
Original: υἱὸς Δαυίδ
Category: Christology
NEW, Matthew 1:1; 9:27; 12:23; 15:22; 20:30-31; 21:9,15; 22:42. A specific messianic title fulfilling the Davidic covenant (2 Samuel 7), distinct from seed_of_david (lineage descriptor, above) and from son_of_god (divine Sonship). Direct local salience: Rama, worshipped at Raghunath Mandir, is himself remembered as a righteous king of royal lineage — a template that must not absorb this title.
Immanuel
Approved rendering: इम्मानुएल (परमेश्वर आसां सोगी)
Transliteration: Immanuel (Parmeshwar aasaan sogi)
Doctrine: Fulfillment of Old Testament Prophecy / Incarnation
Original: Ἐμμανουήλ
Category: Christology
NEW, Matthew 1:23, echoed at 28:20. Proper name functioning as a theological title (Isaiah 7:14 citation); affirms God himself uniquely present in this one child, not a repeatable divine visitation. Brackets the entire Gospel with i_am_with_you_always below.
Virgin Birth
Approved rendering: कुआंरी
Transliteration: kuanri
Doctrine: The Virgin Birth
Rejected alternatives: assimilation to any Hindu mythological narrative of divine-human birth
Original: παρθένος
Category: Christology
NEW, Matthew 1:18-25. Must affirm a unique, historical, bodily virginal conception — an extension of the baseline’s avatar/incarnation caution to the birth narrative specifically. Note: the virgin birth is a genuine point of common ground with Islamic tradition (Qur’an affirms it), though incarnation itself is not; do not let this common ground blur the incarnation distinction.
Worship Of Christ
Approved rendering: अग्गे झुकना / मथा टेकना
Transliteration: agge jhukna / matha tekna
Doctrine: Worship Due to Christ Alone
Rejected alternatives: पूजा (FORBIDDEN: the single most religiously salient devotional-action word in Duggar Hindu practice — idol/image worship at Raghunath Mandir, Vaishno Devi, Bahu Fort)
Original: προσκυνέω
Category: Christology
NEW, Matthew 2:2,11; 4:9-10 (temptation, refusing Satan’s demand); 14:33; 28:9,17. Context must supply worship-level reverence distinct from an ordinary respectful bow to a human superior. Theologian review mandatory every occurrence.
One Who Is To Come
Approved rendering: आवणे आह्ला
Transliteration: aavne aahla
Doctrine: Jesus as the Promised Messiah and Son of David
Original: ὁ ἐρχόμενος
Category: Christology
NEW, Matthew 11:3. Messianic-expectation formula; ties directly to baseline’s messianic_promise doctrine (मसीह दा वादा) — reuse that framing exactly.
Son Of Man
Approved rendering: मानखे दा पुत्तर
Transliteration: mankhe da puttar
Doctrine: The Authority of Jesus’ Teaching
Rejected alternatives: reading as mere synonym for ‘a human being,’ losing the Danielic (Daniel 7:13-14) universal-dominion/end-time-judgment claim
Original: υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου
Category: Christology
NEW, built on the baseline’s established मानखे root (incarnation). Jesus’s most frequent self-designation (~30 occurrences: 8:20; 9:6; 12:8,32,40; 16:13,27-28; 17:9,12,22; 19:28; 20:18,28; 24:27,30,37,39,44; 25:31; 26:2,24,45,64). Greatest danger is under-translation. Theologian review mandatory every occurrence.
Fulfillment Formula
Approved rendering: भविष्यवाणी दा पूरा होना
Transliteration: bhavishyavani da pura hona
Doctrine: Fulfillment of Old Testament Prophecy
Rejected alternatives: cyclical cosmic pattern reading, vow-and-boon fulfillment cycle logic (Vaishno Devi)
Original: πληρόω
Category: Covenant
NEW, directly reuses baseline’s fulfillment_of_prophecy doctrine phrase. Matthew’s repeated formula (‘that it might be fulfilled’) at 1:22-23; 2:5-6,15,17-18,23; 4:14-16; 8:17; 12:17-21; 13:14-15,35; 21:4-5; 26:54-56; 27:9-10. Must be reused verbatim at every occurrence, never a shortened ad hoc paraphrase.
All Authority Heaven Earth
Approved rendering: स्वर्ग ते धरती दा सारा अधिकार
Transliteration: swarg te dharti da sara adhikar
Doctrine: The Authority of Jesus’ Teaching / The Great Commission
Rejected alternatives: diminishing to mere permission-granting
Original: πᾶσα ἐξουσία ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ ἐπὶ γῆς
Category: Christology
NEW, Matthew 28:18. Capstone of the authority theme traced from 7:29 through 8-9, 16, 21; grounds the Great Commission. Rendered with full doctrinal weight.
Fulfill The Law
Approved rendering: पूरा करना
Transliteration: pura karna
Doctrine: The Law and the Prophets Fulfilled, Not Abolished
Rejected alternatives: dharma-completion / duty-properly-discharged reading
Original: πληρόω (νόμον)
Category: Ethics
NEW, Matthew 5:17 (‘I have not come to abolish the Law and the Prophets but to fulfill them’). Must convey completion/consummation, not abolition; same reasoning that leads the baseline to forbid धरम for व्यवस्था applies with full force here.
Forgive Sins Authority
Approved rendering: पाप माफ करना (अधिकार सोगी)
Transliteration: paap maaf karna (adhikar sogi)
Doctrine: The Authority of Jesus’ Teaching
Original: ἀφίημι (ἁμαρτίας)
Category: Salvation
NEW, Matthew 9:2-6. A direct claim to divine prerogative (only God forgives sin) exercised by the Son of Man; key text for Deity of Christ and Lordship of Christ, both already Critical in baseline.
Blasphemy Against Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: पवित्तर आत्मा दी निंदा
Transliteration: pavittar aatma di ninda
Doctrine: Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit
Original: βλασφημία εἰς τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ Ἅγιον
Category: Sanctification
NEW, Matthew 12:22-32. The unpardonable sin; built on baseline पवित्तर आत्मा. Must be taught as specific, willful, hardened rejection of the Spirit’s testimony to Christ, not merely ‘a very bad sin.‘
Eternal Life
Approved rendering: सदा दी जिंदगी
Transliteration: sada di zindagi
Doctrine: Eternal Life
Rejected alternatives: confirmation of the atman’s already-assumed inherent, natural immortality
Original: ζωὴ αἰώνιος
Category: Eschatology
NEW, Matthew 7:14; 18:8-9; 19:16,17,29; 25:46. A given, resurrection-secured share in God’s own life through Christ, not a natural possession of every soul.
Ransom
Approved rendering: छुटकारे दी कीमत
Transliteration: chutkare di keemat
Doctrine: Discipleship and the Cost of Following Jesus / Crucifixion and Atonement
Rejected alternatives: बलिदान unqualified (FORBIDDEN alone: too close to votive/propitiatory offering vocabulary tied to the Bahu Fort Kali-shrine bali tradition)
Original: λύτρον
Category: Salvation
NEW, Matthew 20:28 (‘the Son of Man came… to give his life as a ransom for many’). A substitutionary payment securing release from sin/death’s bondage, explicitly distinguished from an appeasement offering. Theologian review mandatory.
End Of The Age
Approved rendering: जुग दा खात्मा
Transliteration: jug da khatma
Doctrine: Judgment and the End of the Age
Original: συντέλεια τοῦ αἰῶνος
Category: Eschatology
NEW, Matthew 24:3,14; 28:20. Sober, non-sensationalized eschatological expectancy; resist denial and speculative date-setting.
Abomination Of Desolation
Approved rendering: उजाड़ करने आह्ली घिन्नौणी चीज़
Transliteration: ujaad karne aahli ghinnauni cheez
Doctrine: Judgment and the End of the Age
Rejected alternatives: astrological doomsday-prediction framing (cf. baseline’s ज्योतषी caution)
Original: βδέλυγμα τῆς ἐρημώσεως
Category: Eschatology
NEW, Matthew 24:15, citing Daniel. Apocalyptic sign material especially vulnerable to conflation with regional astrological doomsday-prediction culture.
Coming Of Son Of Man
Approved rendering: मानखे दे पुत्तर दा आना
Transliteration: mankhe de puttar da aana
Doctrine: Judgment and the End of the Age
Original: παρουσία (τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου)
Category: Eschatology
NEW, Matthew 24:27-31,37-44. Combines the son_of_man term with the parousia event; carries forward Son of Man’s under-translation risk.
Eternal Punishment
Approved rendering: सदा दी सज़ा
Transliteration: sada di saza
Doctrine: Hell and Final Judgment
Rejected alternatives: a temporary karmic punishment-realm within the rebirth cycle
Original: κόλασιν αἰώνιον
Category: Eschatology
NEW, Matthew 25:46. Final and everlasting, presented in direct parallel with eternal_life.
Hell Gehenna
Approved rendering: नरक (सदा दी अग्गी)
Transliteration: narak (sada di aggi)
Doctrine: Hell and Final Judgment
Rejected alternatives: नरक unqualified (FORBIDDEN alone: denotes one of several temporary punitive realms within samsara in popular Hindu cosmology, from which release occurs through exhausted karma)
Original: γέεννα
Category: Eschatology
NEW, Matthew 5:22,29-30; 8:12; 10:28; 13:41-42,49-50; 18:8-9; 22:13; 23:15,33; 25:30,41,46. नरक must ALWAYS be paired with the qualifier सदा दी अग्गी (‘everlasting fire’), parallel to the baseline’s resurrection/पुनर्जन्म methodology.
New Covenant Body Blood
Approved rendering: ऐह् मेरा शरीर ऐ / ऐह् मेरा खून ऐ, नमां नियम
Transliteration: aih mera sharir ai / aih mera khoon ai, nawan niyam
Doctrine: The New Covenant and the Lord’s Supper
Rejected alternatives: propitiatory blood-offering vocabulary paralleling the Bahu Fort Kali-shrine bali (animal sacrifice) tradition
Original: τοῦτο ἐστὶ τὸ σῶμά μου / τὸ αἷμά μου τῆς διαθήκης
Category: Covenant
NEW, Matthew 26:26-29. Extends baseline’s covenant (नियम) term to its climactic New Testament referent. Must be taught as a once-for-all, self-giving atoning sacrifice received by faith through symbolic participation, never as an instance of, or parallel to, propitiatory blood-offering appeasing a deity. Theologian review mandatory.
Crucifixion
Approved rendering: सल़ीब उप्पर चढ़ाना
Transliteration: salib uppar chadhana
Doctrine: Crucifixion and Atonement
Rejected alternatives: equating with the local Baba Jitto folk-martyr cult (self-sacrifice against an exploitative landlord, venerated at the Aghar Jitto shrine, commemorated at Jitto Da Mela) — admirable but categorically different, and never to be casually equated with Christ’s unique atoning self-sacrifice, यातना का काठ (‘torture stake,’ a Jehovah’s Witnesses New World Translation substitution; NEVER use)
Original: σταυρόω
Category: Salvation
NEW, Matthew 26-27. The specific, historical Roman execution method used for Christ’s atoning death. Theologian review mandatory.
Make Disciples Of All Nations
Approved rendering: सारे राष्ट्रां गी चेले बनाओ
Transliteration: saare rashtran gi chele banao
Doctrine: The Great Commission
Original: μαθητεύσατε πάντα τὰ ἔθνη
Category: Mission
NEW, Matthew 28:19. Directly reuses the baseline’s mission vocabulary (राष्ट्र for ‘nations’ per the baseline’s own gentiles note); चेला’s guru-chela collision risk compounds here given the doctrine’s centrality.
Baptizing Trinitarian Formula
Approved rendering: पिता, पुत्तर, पवित्तर आत्मा दे नां च बपतिस्मा देना
Transliteration: Pita, Puttar, Pavittar Aatma de naan cha baptisma dena
Doctrine: Baptism and the Trinitarian Formula
Rejected alternatives: any compression that drops one of the three Persons for oral fluency (a live Jehovah’s Witnesses/non-Trinitarian risk pattern — retain the same wording, but ensure surrounding catechesis explicitly affirms one God in three Persons)
Original: βαπτίζοντες… εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ Πατρὸς καὶ τοῦ Υἱοῦ καὶ τοῦ Ἁγίου Πνεύματος
Category: Church
NEW, Matthew 28:19. All three constituent terms already Critical in baseline. Mandatory theologian review as an explicit Trinitarian formula text; must be rendered verbatim-consistent across all documents per the baseline’s cross-document consistency rule.
High Risk Terms
Gospel
Approved rendering: खरी खबर
Transliteration: khari khabar
Doctrine: Gospel
Rejected alternatives: सुसमाचार (Hindi Christian loanword; avoid as default so this curriculum reads as Dogri, not Hindi in Devanagari)
Original: εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. In Matthew combines with kingdom_of_heaven to form gospel_of_the_kingdom (4:23; 9:35; 24:14).
Faith
Approved rendering: भरोसा
Transliteration: bharosa
Doctrine: Faith
Rejected alternatives: श्रद्धा (generalized devotional reverence, too broad)
Original: πίστις
Category: Faith
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. In Matthew’s distinctive idiom ‘little faith’ (6:30; 8:26; 14:31; 16:8; 17:20), modify with थोड़ा (bharosa) rather than coining a new word; object of faith (Jesus) must always be specified in context.
Called
Approved rendering: सद्देआ होया
Transliteration: saddea hoya
Doctrine: Divine Calling
Rejected alternatives: सद्दा दित्ता (invited, too weak)
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Underlies the sons_of_god_believers rendering at Matthew 5:9,45 (see below).
Calling
Approved rendering: सद्द
Transliteration: sadd
Doctrine: Divine Calling
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged.
Holy
Approved rendering: पवित्तर
Transliteration: pavittar
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: शुद्ध (ritual purity, e.g. before temple darshan; avoid as substitute)
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Root of the pure_in_heart caution at Matthew 5:8 (साफ chosen there instead, not शुद्ध, to keep this distinction sharp).
Saints
Approved rendering: पवित्तर लोक
Transliteration: pavittar lok
Doctrine: Sainthood
Rejected alternatives: साधु (ascetic holy man; never use for corporate sense)
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged.
Sanctification
Approved rendering: पवित्तरता
Transliteration: pavittarta
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: शुद्धिकरण (ritual purification rites; avoid as substitute)
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Distinct from Matthew 15:1-20’s defile/भिट्ट material, which concerns heart-defilement, not sanctification per se.
Adoption
Approved rendering: गोद लैने आह् पुत्तर बनाना
Transliteration: god laine aah puttar banana
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Doctrinal category underlying Matthew’s adoptive_sonship_of_believers (5:9,45) and inherit_the_earth (5:5).
Sin
Approved rendering: पाप
Transliteration: paap
Doctrine: Universal Human Accountability
Rejected alternatives: भिट्ट (ritual impurity/pollution; avoid as substitute)
Original: ἁμαρτία
Category: Sin
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Matthew 1:21 ties Christ’s entire mission from the book’s opening to moral deliverance from sin, not political deliverance or ritual purification.
Glory
Approved rendering: महिमा
Transliteration: mahima
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: δόξα
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Key Matthew occurrences: transfiguration (17:1-8) and eschatological glory of the Son of Man (16:27; 24:30; 25:31).
Obedience Of Faith
Approved rendering: भरोसे कन्नै ताल्लुक रखदी मन्नता
Transliteration: bharose kannai tallukh rakhdi mannata
Doctrine: Obedience of Faith
Rejected alternatives: धार्मिक रीत-रिवाज निभाना (ritual/social duty-keeping tied to Dogra Rajput custom)
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. The रीत-रिवाज phrase from this entry’s rejected alternative is reused positively in Matthew’s tradition_of_the_elders entry below (15:1-9) for the actual concept of inherited human custom that Jesus critiques.
Power Of God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दी सामर्थ
Transliteration: Parmeshwar di samarth
Doctrine: Power of God for Salvation
Rejected alternatives: शक्ति (goddess-power, Bahu Fort/Vaishno Devi; avoid as primary term)
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Reinforces the same शक्ति-avoidance rule that governs holy_spirit.
Covenant
Approved rendering: नियम
Transliteration: niyam
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Rejected alternatives: समझौता (negotiated deal/contract, too transactional)
Original: διαθήκη
Category: Covenant
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Climactic Matthean referent at the Last Supper, ‘my blood of the covenant’ (26:28) — see new_covenant_body_blood below, which rises to Critical risk.
Election
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दी चोन
Transliteration: Parmeshwar di chon
Doctrine: Effectual Calling
Rejected alternatives: किस्मत (fate; never use), मन्नत दा नतीजा (boon-outcome; never use)
Original: ἐκλογή
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Matthew 22:14 (‘many are called, but few are chosen’) and 24:22,24,31 (the elect in the Olivet Discourse).
Providence
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर दा प्रबन्ध
Transliteration: Parmeshwar da prabandh
Doctrine: Providence
Rejected alternatives: किस्मत (fate; never use)
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Relevant to Matthew 6:25-34 (do not worry, God’s provision) and 10:29-31 (sparrows).
Abba
Approved rendering: अब्बा
Transliteration: Abba
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. No direct Matthew occurrence but retained for cross-curriculum consistency (compare Romans 8:15).
Seed Of David
Approved rendering: दाऊद दे वंश चा
Transliteration: Daud de vansh cha
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Original: σπέρμα Δαυίδ
Category: Covenant
Inherited from Romans package, unchanged. Used in Matthew 1:1-17’s genealogy as a lineage descriptor, structurally distinct from the messianic title son_of_david below — do not blur the two.
Poor In Spirit
Approved rendering: आत्मा च कंगाल
Transliteration: aatma cha kangal
Doctrine: The Kingdom of Heaven
Rejected alternatives: literal material destitution praised as inherently virtuous, sannyasa ascetic-renunciation ideal (voluntary poverty as self-achieved spiritual discipline)
Original: πτωχοὶ τῷ πνεύματι
Category: Kingdom
NEW, Matthew 5:3. A posture of dependent trust before a gracious God, not a renunciate achievement; distinguished by the same reasoning the baseline uses to separate साधु from पवित्तर लोक.
Meek
Approved rendering: नरमी आह्ले
Transliteration: narmi aahle
Doctrine: Beatitudes Kingdom Reversal
Rejected alternatives: weakness/passivity framing, the imposed deference expected of lower-status persons within Dogra Rajput izzat hierarchy
Original: πραΰς
Category: Kingdom
NEW, Matthew 5:5. A chosen kingdom virtue exercised from strength and trust in God’s own vindication (cf. 5:39-41), not externally imposed social submission.
Merciful
Approved rendering: दयावान
Transliteration: dayavan
Doctrine: Beatitudes Kingdom Reversal
Rejected alternatives: ‘if you show mercy, God will grant your mannat/vow’ transactional reciprocity reading
Original: ἐλεήμων / ἐλεέω
Category: Kingdom
NEW, Matthew 5:7. Built directly on the दया root in baseline’s grace term; reciprocity here is kingdom-character consistency, not transactional exchange.
Pure In Heart
Approved rendering: दिले दे साफ
Transliteration: dile de saaf
Doctrine: Inward Purity versus Ritual Defilement
Rejected alternatives: शुद्ध (reserved by baseline for ritual purity, e.g. preparation for Vaishno Devi darshan; would collapse this Beatitude into a ritual-cleanliness reading)
Original: καθαρὸς τῇ καρδίᾳ
Category: Sanctification
NEW, Matthew 5:8. साफ deliberately chosen over शुद्ध; directly anticipates Matthew 15:1-20’s explicit relocation of defilement from ritual to the heart.
See God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर गी देखणा
Transliteration: Parmeshwar gi dekhna
Doctrine: Beatitudes Kingdom Reversal
Rejected alternatives: दर्शन (ritual viewing of a deity’s image at a temple — Raghunath Mandir, Bahu Fort, Vaishno Devi — mediated by priest/pilgrimage; never use)
Original: ὁρῶ τὸν Θεόν
Category: Salvation
NEW, Matthew 5:8. An eschatological promise of direct relational encounter with the one true God, not a ritual viewing available through pilgrimage or priestly mediation.
Persecuted For Righteousness
Approved rendering: सताए जाना
Transliteration: satae jana
Doctrine: Discipleship and the Cost of Following Jesus
Original: διώκω ἕνεκεν δικαιοσύνης
Category: Discipleship
NEW, Matthew 5:10-12; 10:16-23. Reframes public shaming/hostile treatment as blessing when suffered for righteousness’ sake — a direct subversion of Dogra Rajput izzat honor-shame calculus.
Disciple
Approved rendering: चेला
Transliteration: chela
Doctrine: Discipleship and the Cost of Following Jesus
Original: μαθητής
Category: Discipleship
NEW, foundational term used throughout the book (esp. 4:18-22; 5:1; 8:18-22; 9-10; 28:19). चेला carries strong guru-chela associations from Hindu, Sikh, and Sufi devotional traditions in the Duggar region. No viable substitute exists; MANDATORY teaching note at first occurrence in every doctrinal unit: Jesus is not one guru among many offering a path among several to liberation, and discipleship is costly, potentially fatal cross-bearing (16:24).
King Of The Jews
Approved rendering: यहूदियां दा राजा
Transliteration: Yahudiyan da raja
Doctrine: Jesus as the Promised Messiah and Son of David
Rejected alternatives: महाराजा (FORBIDDEN: the historic Dogra dynastic title, already forbidden for ‘Lord’; same logic applies — Christ’s kingship must not be framed as a rival dynastic-political claim)
Original: Βασιλεὺς τῶν Ἰουδαίων
Category: Christology
NEW, Matthew 2:2; 27:11,29,37. Mocking inscription/title, ironically literally true; recurrence at the passion narrative deliberately brackets the birth narrative’s magi question.
Cornerstone
Approved rendering: नींह दा पत्थर
Transliteration: nih da patthar
Doctrine: Fulfillment of Old Testament Prophecy
Rejected alternatives: generic architecture metaphor stripped of prophetic content
Original: κεφαλὴ γωνίας
Category: Christology
NEW, Matthew 21:42, citing Psalm 118. Must retain the specific rejection-then-vindication messianic pattern.
Transfiguration
Approved rendering: रूप बदलना (महिमा दिखाना)
Transliteration: roop badalna (mahima dikhana)
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: avatar-style repeated divine appearances/transformations
Original: μεταμορφόω
Category: Christology
NEW, Matthew 17:1-8. Reveals baseline’s established महिमा (glory) term; a singular revelatory unveiling of the Son’s own eternal glory, not a repeatable descent.
False Prophet
Approved rendering: झूठा नबी
Transliteration: jhootha nabi
Doctrine: Fulfillment of Old Testament Prophecy
Rejected alternatives: ज्योतषी (astrologer/fortune-teller; already flagged as false analogy for ‘prophet’)
Original: ψευδοπροφήτης
Category: Covenant
NEW, Matthew 7:15-20; 24:11,24. Judged by moral fruit, not by failed prediction.
Thirty Pieces Of Silver
Approved rendering: त्री कुड़ी चांदी दे सिक्के
Transliteration: tri kudi chandi de sikke
Doctrine: Fulfillment of Old Testament Prophecy
Original: τριάκοντα ἀργύρια
Category: Covenant
NEW, Matthew 26:15; 27:3-10. Explicit fulfillment citation, ties to fulfillment_formula.
Sign Of Jonah
Approved rendering: यूनुस दा निशान
Transliteration: Yunus da nishan
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ
Original: σημεῖον Ἰωνᾶ
Category: Eschatology
NEW, Matthew 12:39-40. Typological pointer to the baseline’s resurrection_of_christ Critical caution — the sign points to a unique historical event, not a repeatable pattern.
Authority
Approved rendering: अधिकार
Transliteration: adhikar
Doctrine: The Authority of Jesus’ Teaching
Rejected alternatives: caste-linked ritual-eligibility reading (who has ‘adhikar’ to perform particular rites)
Original: ἐξουσία
Category: Christology
NEW, climactic at Matthew 7:28-29; extended over disease/nature/demons (8-9) and church authority (16, 18). Must convey Jesus’s inherent, self-authenticating authority, contrasted explicitly with शास्त्री ते फरीसी’s derivative, citation-based authority.
Law And The Prophets
Approved rendering: व्यवस्था ते नबी लोकां दी लिखत
Transliteration: vyavastha te nabi lokan di likhat
Doctrine: Fulfillment of Old Testament Prophecy
Original: νόμος καὶ προφῆται
Category: Covenant
NEW, Matthew 5:17; 7:12; 22:40. Combines baseline व्यवस्था term, reused exactly, with नबी.
Love Your Enemies
Approved rendering: अपने दुश्मनां गी प्यार करना
Transliteration: apne dushmanan gi pyar karna
Doctrine: Love of Enemies and the Greatest Commandment
Original: ἀγαπάτε τοὺς ἐχθρούς
Category: Ethics
NEW, Matthew 5:43-48. Directly counters the retaliation-for-honor expectation embedded in Dogra Rajput izzat culture; kingdom ethic exercised from strength, not loss of face.
Perfect
Approved rendering: पूरे
Transliteration: pure
Doctrine: Righteousness Exceeding the Pharisees
Rejected alternatives: सिद्ध (FORBIDDEN: strong Hindu/Sikh ascetic-attainment/siddha connotations — a perfected yogic adept, a recognized folk-religious category)
Original: τέλειος
Category: Ethics
NEW, Matthew 5:48 (‘Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect’). Must convey Christlike moral wholeness modeled on God’s own character, not an attainable meditative siddhi-state.
Greatest Commandment
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर गी ते गुआंढी गी प्यार करना
Transliteration: Parmeshwar gi te guandhi gi pyar karna
Doctrine: Love of Enemies and the Greatest Commandment
Original: ἀγαπήσεις (τὸν Θεόν / τὸν πλησίον)
Category: Ethics
NEW, Matthew 22:37-40. Must convey willed, self-giving agape-love, not the narrower romantic/affective range प्यार carries in everyday usage.
Fasting
Approved rendering: भूखे रौह्णा
Transliteration: bhukhe rehna
Doctrine: Righteousness Exceeding the Pharisees
Rejected alternatives: व्रत (FORBIDDEN: tied to the same mannat vow-economy Critical-flagged for grace — fasting as part of a vow made to a deity in exchange for a boon)
Original: νηστεία / νηστεύω
Category: Sanctification
NEW, Matthew 6:16-18. Christian fasting is private devotion before God, not part of a vow-exchange or merit-display.
Treasure In Heaven
Approved rendering: स्वर्ग च खजाना
Transliteration: swarg cha khajana
Doctrine: The Kingdom of Heaven
Original: θησαυρὸς ἐν οὐρανῷ
Category: Kingdom
NEW, Matthew 6:19-21. स्वर्ग is retained here (unlike kingdom_of_heaven above) but carries a sharp collision: popular स्वर्ग is itself impermanent (enjoyed until karma/merit is exhausted), the near opposite of the text’s point that heavenly treasure never decays or is stolen. MANDATORY teaching gloss: ‘unlike स्वर्ग in popular belief, this treasure never ends.‘
Mysteries Of The Kingdom
Approved rendering: भेद जेह्ड़े हुण जोर करी दित्ते गेये न
Transliteration: bhed jehde hun jor kari ditte geye ne
Doctrine: The Kingdom of Heaven
Rejected alternatives: bare भेद without qualification (risks a tantric/occult ‘secret knowledge requiring initiation’ frame)
Original: μυστήριον (τῆς βασιλείας)
Category: Kingdom
NEW, Matthew 13:11. Revealed truth grasped by faith-receptivity, not attained through ritual initiation or hidden technique.
Demon
Approved rendering: भूत / दुष्ट आत्मा
Transliteration: bhoot / dushta aatma
Doctrine: The Authority of Jesus’ Teaching
Original: δαιμόνιον
Category: Christology
NEW, Matthew 8-9, 12, 17. Must be distinguished from the region’s folk-exorcism and spirit-appeasement practices; Christ’s authority is total, immediate command, not negotiation, appeasement, or ritual propitiation.
Satan Devil
Approved rendering: शैतान
Transliteration: shaitan
Doctrine: The Authority of Jesus’ Teaching
Rejected alternatives: भूत-प्रेत (generic folk ghost/spirit; too weak/animistic)
Original: διάβολος / Σατανᾶς
Category: Christology
NEW, Matthew 4:1-11; 13:39; 25:41. A single, personal, already-defeated spiritual enemy, not one hostile spirit among many local folk-spirits (bhoot-pret) addressed through folk exorcism.
Confess Deny Christ
Approved rendering: मन्नना / मुकरना
Transliteration: manna / mukarna
Doctrine: Discipleship and the Cost of Following Jesus
Original: ὁμολογέω / ἀρνέομαι
Category: Discipleship
NEW, Matthew 10:32-33; 26:69-75 (Peter). Must retain the gravity of public confession/denial of Christ specifically, given real social cost of public Christian identification in izzat-conscious culture.
Tradition Of The Elders
Approved rendering: रीत-रिवाज
Transliteration: riit-rivaj
Doctrine: Righteousness Exceeding the Pharisees
Original: παράδοσις (τῶν πρεσβυτέρων)
Category: Ethics
NEW, Matthew 15:1-9. Directly reuses the baseline’s already-established रीत-रिवाज phrase from the obedience_of_faith entry (inherited social/ritual custom tied to Dogra Rajput identity).
