Core Glossary

Core Glossary — Hebrews (Portuguese Destination Language)

This glossary consolidates every load-bearing term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, spanning Hebrews 1–13. Terms marked [BASELINE] are inherited unchanged from the Romans translation_memory.json and must be rendered identically. All other terms are new entries proposed for the Hebrews Language Package and require the same enforcement treatment described in 12_ai_translation_requirements.md once that document is extended for Hebrews (Phase 1 Step 8).

Risk tiers follow the baseline definitions: Critical (human theologian review, every occurrence) / High (human theologian review) / Medium (native speaker review) / Low (automated review).

made perfect / perfectedaperfeiçoado / aperfeiçoou / feito perfeitoτελειόω (teleioō)Critical2, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13Highest cross-cutting risk in Hebrews: direct terminological overlap with Kardecist doctrine of a spirit’s gradual perfection achieved through moral effort across successive reincarnations. Every occurrence must be individually checked for whether it describes (a) Christ’s own unique qualification through incarnate suffering (2:10; 5:9), (b) the once-for-all, completed perfecting of believers through his finished sacrifice (10:14; 12:23), or (c) the law’s inherent inability to perfect anyone (7:19; 9:9; 10:1) — and rendered with teaching notes appropriate to each sense, never as a gradual self-improvement process.

Saints

Approved rendering: santos
Transliteration: hagioi
Doctrine: Sainthood
Rejected alternatives: santos venerados e invocados como intercessores

Resurrection

Approved rendering: ressurreição
Transliteration: anastasis
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ
Rejected alternatives: reencarnação

Inherited from Romans package. NEVER reencarnação. Load-bearing in Heb 6:2 (general resurrection); 11:35 (‘better resurrection’); 13:20 (God raising Christ). Brazil’s Kardecist population makes this the single most policed term in the book.

Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: Senhor apenas em sentido devocional, sem reivindicação de senhorio total

Inherited from Romans package. Applies to Heb 1:10; 2:3; 7:14; 13:20.

Son Of God

Approved rendering: Filho de Deus
Transliteration: huios theou
Doctrine: Sonship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: filho de Deus no sentido genérico aplicado a todo crente

Inherited from Romans package. The book’s opening and structural argument (Heb 1:2, 5, 8; 3:6; 4:14; 5:5, 8; 7:28) turns on this exact phrase; never softened to an adoptive or evolutionary sense.

Incarnation

Approved rendering: encarnação
Transliteration: ho logos sarx egeneto
Doctrine: Incarnation
Rejected alternatives: encarnação como uma entre muitas vidas sucessivas de um espírito (sentido espírita)

Messiah

Approved rendering: Messias
Transliteration: Christos / Mashiach

Author And Perfecter Of Faith

Doctrine: Sanctification and Perfection in Christ
Rejected alternatives: um espírito-modelo que atingiu sua própria perfeição para inspirar o progresso de outros

Doctrine: The Once-for-All Atoning Sacrifice

Heb 7:27; 9:12, 25-26, 28; 10:10. The single highest-stakes lexical choice in the book. Direct collision with the Catholic Eucharistic doctrine that the Mass re-presents Christ’s sacrifice at each celebration.

Blood

Doctrine: Divine Calling
Rejected alternatives: vocação (narrow sense of a call to priesthood or religious life)
