Core Glossary

08 Core Glossary — 2 Thessalonians (English → Malayalam)

Purpose

This glossary catalogs every load-bearing theological term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, across all three chapters of 2 Thessalonians, with translation risk assessments for the malayalam Language Package. Terms already recorded in the baseline Romans translation_memory.json are marked Reused (baseline) and MUST be rendered exactly as recorded there — this glossary does not alter their established rendering, only documents their reuse and any 2 Thessalonians-specific contextual notes. New terms are marked New and are proposed here for addition to translation memory, pending theologian review per the Phase 2 escalation rules.

Risk tiers follow the baseline doctrine_risk_registry.json definitions exactly:

  • Critical — Mistranslation alters or destroys essential doctrine. Human theologian review required for every occurrence.
  • High — Mistranslation creates significant theological confusion or syncretism risk. Human theologian review required.
  • Medium — Mistranslation reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning. Native speaker review recommended.
  • Low — Mistranslation causes minor misunderstanding or imprecision. Automated review sufficient.

Section A — Terms Reused from the Romans Baseline (Enforce Exactly)

English termMalayalamTransliterationOriginal (Greek)Risk (baseline)2 Thessalonians occurrencesContextual note
GospelസുവിശേഷംsuviseshamεὐαγγέλιονHigh1:8; 2:14No new risk; note 2:14 “called through our gospel” ties gospel directly to effectual calling.
GraceകൃപkrupaχάριςHigh1:2,1:12; 2:16; 3:18No new risk; standard greeting/benediction formula.
Faithവിശ്വാസംvishwasamπίστιςMedium1:3,1:4,1:11; 2:13; 3:23:2 (“not all have faith”) requires care to read as a sober observation about differing human response, not a statement about God’s election varying.
Righteousness (root)നീതിneethiδίκαιος / δικαι- rootHigh1:5,1:6 (δίκαιον, δικαία κρίσις)Extends cleanly to “righteous judgment” (നീതിയുള്ള ന്യായവിധി); see Section B for the new compound.
Salvationരക്ഷrakshaσωτηρία / σῴζωHigh2:10,2:132:10’s “believe…and be saved” directly parallels 2:12’s “believe…and be condemned” — both verbs must retain their established baseline renderings (രക്ഷ / വിധിക്കപ്പെടുക) so the contrast is clear.
Called / Callingവിളിക്കപ്പെട്ട / വിളിvilikkappetta / viliκλητός / κλῆσιςMedium/High1:11; 2:142:14 is effectual calling to salvation through the gospel, matching the Romans 8:28-30 sense already documented in the baseline doctrine registry.
Holy Spiritപരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ്parishudhathmavuπνεῦμα (in ἁγιασμῷ πνεύματος)Critical2:132:13 reads literally “sanctification of spirit” without the adjective ἅγιος; doctrinally this is the Holy Spirit’s sanctifying work, and the Malayalam rendering should make the Trinitarian referent explicit (പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ്), consistent with the baseline’s mandatory rendering, rather than a generic “spirit.”
Sanctificationവിശുദ്ധീകരണംvishudheekaranamἁγιασμόςMedium2:13No new risk.
Saintsവിശുദ്ധര്‍vishudharἅγιοιHigh1:10Same inverted risk documented in the Romans baseline (Romans 1:7) applies: Christ is “glorified in his saints” — every believer, not a canonized elite. Reinforce with translator note.
Gloryമഹത്വംmahatvamδόξαHigh1:9,1:10,1:12; 2:14No new risk; 1:9’s “eternal destruction from the… glory of his might” and 2:14’s “obtain the glory” form a deliberate contrast pair — keep മഹത്വം consistent in both.
ChurchസഭsabhaἐκκλησίαMedium1:1No new risk; standard address formula.
Kingdom of Godദൈവരാജ്യംdaivarajyamβασιλεία τοῦ ΘεοῦMedium1:5No new risk.
Lordകര്‍ത്താവ്karthavuκύριοςCriticalthroughoutApplied both to Christ (correctly) and, in a deliberate ironic parody, echoed in the lawless one’s counterfeit “coming” (παρουσία, 2:9) — the title κύριος itself is never given to the lawless one; this distinction must be preserved precisely.
JesusയേശുyeshuἸησοῦςCritical1:7,1:8,1:12; 2:8 (bracketed in some MSS)No new risk.
GodദൈവംdaivamθεόςCriticalthroughout2:4’s “every so-called god” (πάντα λεγόμενον θεόν) refers to false, illegitimate god-claims and must not be confused with the one true ദൈവം — render as a plural/generic “god” concept distinct from the proper-noun usage elsewhere; see Section B.
Fatherപിതാവ്pithavuπατήρCritical1:1,1:2; 2:16No new risk.
Thanksgivingകൃതജ്ഞതkruthajnathaεὐχαριστία / εὐχαριστέωLow1:3; 2:13No new risk.
Electionദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ്daivathinte thiranjeduppuαἱρέομαι (2:13, εἵλατο)High2:13Extends Romans 9-11 election doctrine; 2:13’s “God chose you” is the ground of assurance amid eschatological confusion — same doctrinal function as Romans 8:28-30.
SinപാപംpapamἁμαρτίαMedium2:3 (a minority MSS variant, ἁμαρτίας, for “man of lawlessness”)Not the primary textual reading in the core passage but noted for textual-variant awareness; if this variant is used in any lectionary source text, render consistently with the established പാപം.
Lawന്യായപ്രമാണംnyayapramanamνόμος (root of ἀνομία)Mediumconceptual background to 2:3,2:7-8ἀνομία is formed by negating this very word; translators should understand “the man of lawlessness” as, at root, “the man who stands against ന്യായപ്രമാണം” — God’s revealed moral order — even though ന്യായപ്രമാണം itself does not occur as a lexical item in 2 Thessalonians.
Exhort / Comfortപ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുക / ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുകprothsahippikkuka / aashwasippikkukaπαρακαλέωLow2:17; 3:12Context-sensitive per the baseline’s existing note: 2:17 = comfort of unsettled hearts; 3:12 = exhortation to disorderly members to work quietly.
Power of Godദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ ശക്തിdaivathinte shakthiδύναμις θεοῦ (root δύναμις)Medium1:7 (God’s power, positive); 2:9 (Satan’s counterfeit power, via the same word δύναμις without θεοῦ)2:9 reuses the same Malayalam word ശക്തി for the lawless one’s power, deliberately, per Paul’s own parody structure. Context (κατ᾽ ἐνέργειαν τοῦ Σατανᾶ, “according to the activity of Satan”) must make the moral contrast unmistakable without changing the underlying word — see Section B, “Signs and wonders (false)” for the coordinated risk note.
PeaceസമാധാനംsamadhanamεἰρήνηLow1:2; 3:16No new risk; 3:16’s “Lord of peace” is a new compound title, see Section B.

Section B — New Terms Introduced in 2 Thessalonians (Proposed for Translation Memory)

English termMalayalamTransliterationOriginal (Greek)RiskKey passagesDefinitionTranslation notes
Day of the Lordകര്‍ത്താവിന്‍റെ നാൾkarthavinte naalἡμέρα τοῦ ΚυρίουHigh2:2The climactic future day of Christ’s return, judgment, and the vindication of the saints.CORE DOCTRINE. Must be kept visibly distinct from കര്‍ത്തൃദിനം (“the Lord’s Day” = Sunday), a phrase in weekly liturgical use across every Malayalam denomination. Confusing the two would make Paul’s warning (that false teachers claimed the eschatological Day “has already come”) unintelligible or trivial. Human theologian review required on every occurrence.
Man of Lawlessnessഅധര്‍മ്മപുരുഷന്‍adharmapurushanὁ ἄνθρωπος τῆς ἀνομίας / ὁ ἄνομοςCritical2:3,2:8The specific eschatological individual who embodies total rebellion against God’s authority, self-exalts above every object of worship, and is destroyed by Christ at his coming.CORE DOCTRINE. Built on അധര്‍മ്മം (see next entry); functions here as a fixed theological title for a specific end-times figure, not a general description of a rule-breaker. Never let back-translation drift toward a generic “sinful/wicked man.” Must retain the same root as ἀνομία throughout 2:3-8 for literary consistency. Human theologian review required for every occurrence.
Lawlessnessഅധര്‍മ്മംadharmamἀνομίαCritical2:3,2:7Principled, total rebellion against God’s revealed moral order — the polar opposite of Christ’s obedience, not mere criminal disorder. The negation-prefix (അ-) form of ധര്‍മ്മം, the term the Romans baseline forbids for νόμος/δικαιοσύνη due to Hindu cosmic-duty (dharma) connotations. Because അധര്‍മ്മം negates rather than invokes dharma, and is Kerala’s actual established rendering for “the man of sin,” it is retained — but flagged Critical (not merely High) because of its shared root with a forbidden baseline term. Every occurrence requires a translator note distinguishing this from Hindu dharma-violation and clarifying the referent is rebellion against God’s revealed law (ന്യായപ്രമാണം).
Son of Destructionനാശത്തിന്‍റെ പുത്രന്‍nashathinte puthranυἱὸς τῆς ἀπωλείαςHigh2:3Semitic idiom for one wholly characterized by, and destined for, final ruin.Deliberately, ironically mirrors “ദൈവപുത്രന്‍” (Son of God, a Critical-risk baseline term). Translator notes should make this antithetical structure explicit for teaching purposes; never abbreviate in a way that could be misread as a variant title for Christ.
Apostasy / Rebellionവിശ്വാസത്യാഗംvishwasathyagamἀποστασίαHigh2:3A definite, future, large-scale falling-away/rebellion event that must precede the Day of the Lord — not an individual’s private loss of faith.Must be distinguished in teaching materials from ordinary, individual deconversion; this is a specific eschatological sign-event tied to the man of lawlessness’s appearing.
The Restrainer / That Which Restrainsതടയുന്നത് / തടയുന്നവന്‍thadayunnathu / thadayunnavanτὸ κατέχον / ὁ κατέχωνHigh2:6-7An unnamed restraining power/person currently preventing the premature appearing of the man of lawlessness. The most exegetically contested term in the passage (candidates include Roman state authority, the Holy Spirit’s restraining presence, an angelic power, or ongoing gospel proclamation). Malayalam must preserve the neuter-to-masculine grammatical shift’s ambiguity rather than resolving it with an inserted gloss. Do not name the referent in the translated text itself. Human theologian review required.
Temple of Godദൈവാലയംdaivalayamναὸς τοῦ ΘεοῦMedium2:4The inner sanctuary/dwelling place of God — debated referent (a future Jerusalem temple, or the church as God’s dwelling).Distinct from അമ്പലം (Hindu temple, already forbidden in the Romans baseline for ἐκκλησία); the ദൈവ- (God-) element keeps this compound doctrinally safe. Native speaker review recommended for the genuine interpretive range, not for syncretism risk.
Mysteryമർമ്മംmarmamμυστήριονMedium2:7A truth once hidden, now (partially) disclosed by divine revelation — not a puzzle solved by human ingenuity.Established Malayalam theological term (used elsewhere for “the mystery of the gospel/of Christ”); low ambiguity.
Satanസാത്താന്‍sathanΣατανᾶςLow2:9The personal, singular arch-adversary of God, the empowering source behind the man of lawlessness.Transliterated proper name, universally understood the same way across Malayalam religious communities; no competing native term risk.
Signs and Wonders (false)അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും (വ്യാജമായ)adayalangalum athbhuthangalum (vyajamaya)σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα ψεύδουςHigh2:9Genuinely miraculous-seeming acts performed in the service of a lie, explicitly qualified as false/counterfeit.The qualifier “of falsehood” (ψεύδους) must never be dropped in translation or paraphrase — without it, readers could mistake this verse for an endorsement of the lawless one’s miracles as real divine power. Always translate the full phrase with its qualifier intact.
Deceptionവഞ്ചനvanchanaἀπάτηLow2:10The active practice of deceiving.Standard term, low ambiguity.
Falsehood / Lieവ്യാജംvyajamψεῦδοςMedium2:9,2:11Deliberate untruth, the opposite of ἀλήθεια/truth.Keep consistent across both occurrences (2:9’s false signs, 2:11’s “believe the lie”) to preserve the passage’s internal logical connection.
Truthസത്യംsathyamἀλήθειαLow2:10,2:12,2:13Objective, revealed divine truth, embodied in the gospel.Standard, low-collision term; used consistently across all three occurrences in this chapter.
Perishingനശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നവര്‍nashichukondirikkunnavarἀπολλύμενοι (ἀπόλλυμι)Medium2:10Those in an ongoing process of ruin, not yet final, because of their rejection of the gospel truth.Do not conflate with a completed/final state; the participle is present tense, describing an ongoing trajectory.
Strong Delusion / Deluding Influenceവഴിതെറ്റിക്കുന്ന പ്രവര്‍ത്തനംvazhithettikkunna pravarthanamἐνέργεια πλάνηςHigh2:11God’s judicial act of confirming the willfully unbelieving in the error they have already chosen.Deliberately avoids വ്യാമോഹം (the common Malayalam word for delusion, built on മോഹം/moha), because that word carries direct resonance with the Hindu philosophical concept of delusion binding the soul to rebirth — too close to the already-forbidden മോക്ഷം/മുക്തി confusion risk for “salvation.” Must always be taught alongside 2:10 and 2:12 so God’s action is seen as righteous response to prior unbelief, never as its arbitrary cause. Human theologian review required.
Judgment / Condemnationന്യായവിധി / വിധിക്കപ്പെടുകnyayavidhi / vidhikkappedukaκρίσις / κρίνωHigh1:5 (δικαία κρίσις); 2:12 (κριθῶσιν)CORE DOCTRINE (God’s Righteous Judgment). God’s personal, morally-grounded, judicial verdict, distinct from impersonal fate. The bare noun വിധി is already flagged in the Romans baseline as forbidden for “election”/“providence” because it collapses into “fate” in popular usage. Always use the compound ന്യായവിധി (or the verb വിധിക്കപ്പെടുക in context) rather than bare വിധി, to keep the personal, judicial, righteous character of God’s judgment clear. Human theologian review required for every occurrence.
Vengeance / Retributionദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ ന്യായമായ പ്രതികാരംdaivathinte nyayamaya prathikaramἐκδίκησιςMedium-High1:8God’s righteous, judicial retribution against those who reject the gospel — not personal or human-style vengeance.Always qualify with “ന്യായമായ” (righteous/just) or equivalent to prevent the reading of arbitrary or vindictive human-style revenge.
Eternal Destructionനിത്യനാശംnithyanashamὄλεθρος αἰώνιοςHigh1:9The final, permanent, unending ruin that follows rejection of the gospel — separation from the presence and glory of the Lord.Straightforward compound (നിത്യ + നാശം); risk is doctrinal weight, not linguistic ambiguity — must not be softened to a merely temporary or metaphorical setback.
Coming / Parousiaവരവ് / പുനരാഗമനംvaravu / punaragamanamπαρουσίαMedium2:1,2:8,2:9Christ’s future, visible, bodily return in glory; in 2:9, deliberately echoed as the lawless one’s blasphemous counterfeit “coming.”Must retain the same Malayalam word for both Christ’s genuine parousia and the lawless one’s parody parousia (2:9) — this repetition is intentional in the Greek and must not be smoothed away by using different words for each.
Gathering Togetherസമ്മേളനംsammelanamἐπισυναγωγήMedium2:1The future, one-time gathering of believers to Christ at his parousia.Keep distinct from ordinary church-gathering vocabulary (കൂട്ടായ്മ/സഭ); this names a specific eschatological event, not a recurring worship assembly.
Appearing / Manifestationപ്രത്യക്ഷതpratyakshathaἐπιφάνειαMedium2:8The visible, glorious self-disclosure of Christ at his coming; a near-synonym of παρουσία used for emphasis.Standard technical NT term (cf. Titus 2:13; 2 Tim 4:1,8); low ambiguity once distinguished from ordinary “appearance.”
Activity / Workingപ്രവര്‍ത്തനംpravarthanamἐνέργεια / ἐνεργέωMedium2:7,2:9Active, ongoing operation of a spiritual force — used of both the mystery of lawlessness already at work (2:7) and Satan’s empowering activity behind the lawless one (2:9).Same Malayalam word is used for both occurrences per the Greek; surrounding context (never divine ἐνέργεια in this letter) makes the moral source unmistakable.
Traditionsപാരമ്പര്യങ്ങള്‍paramparyangalπαράδοσιςHigh2:15; 3:6CORE DOCTRINE (Standing Firm in the Traditions). The specific body of apostolic teaching Paul delivered, whether by spoken word or by letter — not inherited custom in general. The single highest-priority new term outside the core passage’s Critical terms. Carries two live Kerala-specific collision risks: (1) the ordinary word for ancestral/family/caste-linked custom, given Kerala’s documented caste-heritage stratification within its own Christian community; (2) potential misreading as endorsing one denomination’s distinctive liturgical tradition over another’s. Every occurrence requires a translator note anchoring the referent to 2:15b’s explicit definition (“whether by word of mouth or by our letter”). Human theologian review required.
Stand Firmഉറച്ചു നില്‍ക്കുവിന്‍uracchu nilkkuvinστήκετεMedium2:15CORE DOCTRINE (Standing Firm in the Traditions). The pastoral imperative of steadfast resistance to destabilizing false teaching.Standard exhortation register; pairs directly with the “traditions” doctrine as its practical outworking.
Persecutionsപീഡനങ്ങള്‍peedanangalδιωγμοίMedium1:4CORE DOCTRINE (Perseverance under Persecution). Active, external hostile action against believers because of their faith.Distinct from θλῖψις/affliction below; persecution names deliberate hostile action specifically.
Afflictions / Tribulationsകഷ്ടതകള്‍ / ക്ലേശങ്ങള്‍kashtatakal / kleshangalθλίψειςMedium1:4,1:6Suffering/distress experienced broadly, alongside persecution.Must not be automatically rendered with the technical end-times “Great Tribulation” vocabulary (മഹാകഷ്ടം) used elsewhere for Revelation’s distinct future event, unless the context specifically warrants it.
Endurance / Perseveranceസഹിഷ്ണുതsahishnuthaὑπομονήMedium1:4CORE DOCTRINE (Perseverance under Persecution). Active, faith-fueled steadfastness under trial, not passive resignation.Distinguish from mere passive tolerance or fatalistic endurance; rooted in confident hope in God’s righteous judgment (ch. 1) and the assurance of election (2:13).
Command / Chargeകല്‍പ്പിക്കുന്നുkalpikkunnuπαραγγέλλωLow-Medium3:4,3:6,3:10,3:12Formal, authoritative apostolic instruction.Standard vocabulary; register should convey apostolic authority without harshness, consistent with 3:15’s “not as an enemy” instruction.
Idleness / Disorderly Conductക്രമരഹിതമായി / അലസതkramarahithamayi / alasathaἀτάκτως / ἀτακτέωMedium3:6,3:7,3:11Refusal to work while awaiting Christ’s return, treated as a breach of apostolic tradition.Military-metaphor root (“out of ranks”); pastoral register should convey firm correction, not contempt, consistent with 3:15.
Imitateഅനുകരിക്കുകanukarikkukaμιμέομαιLow3:7,3:9Modeling conduct on the apostles’ own example.Standard term; connects directly to “traditions” doctrine as embodied, not merely propositional, teaching.
Admonishബുദ്ധിയുപദേശിക്കുകbuddhiyupadheshikkukaνουθετέωLow3:15Corrective, relational counsel offered in familial love, aimed at repentance and restoration.Explicitly contrasted with treating the person as an “enemy” (ἐχθρός); tone must remain pastoral.
The Evil Oneദുഷ്ടന്‍dushtanὁ πονηρόςMedium3:3Satan, the personal source of opposition to believers.Distinguish from the plain adjective πονηρός used of human beings in 3:2 (“evil and wicked men”) — same root, different referent; context must disambiguate.
Faithful (of the Lord)വിശ്വസ്തന്‍vishwasthanπιστόςLow3:3God’s own reliability and trustworthiness, the ground of the Thessalonians’ security.Direct adjectival extension of the established വിശ്വാസം root; no new risk.
Rescue / Deliverവിടുവിക്കുകviduvikkukaῥύομαιMedium3:2Deliverance from immediate, specific danger posed by hostile people.Distinct from the soteriological രക്ഷ (“salvation”); this is situational rescue from persecution, connecting to the Perseverance doctrine.
Lord of Peaceസമാധാനത്തിന്‍റെ കര്‍ത്താവ്samadhanathinte karthavuὁ Κύριος τῆς εἰρήνηςLow3:16God as the personal source and giver of peace.New compound title combining two already-safe baseline terms (കര്‍ത്താവ്, സമാധാനം); no additional risk introduced.

Governing principle for this curriculum, consistent with the baseline: as in Romans, Malayalam’s settled Christian vocabulary keeps most terms in this letter at Medium risk or below. The concentrated Critical/High risk in 2 Thessalonians clusters almost entirely around the core passage’s eschatological vocabulary (the man of lawlessness, the restrainer, the Day of the Lord, false signs and wonders, strong delusion) and the doctrine of “Standing Firm in the Traditions” (παράδοσις) — the latter being a genuinely new risk category not previously documented in the Romans baseline, driven by Kerala’s specific caste-heritage and multi-denominational-tradition context rather than by interfaith syncretism.

Critical Risk Terms

Lord

Approved rendering: കര്‍ത്താവ്
Transliteration: karthavu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology

Inherited from Romans package. Used throughout 2 Thessalonians for Christ. The title κύριος is deliberately NEVER applied to the man of lawlessness even where his counterfeit ‘coming’ (2:9) parodies Christ’s own — this exclusivity must be preserved precisely as the doctrinal line separating imitation from identity.

Son Of God

Approved rendering: ദൈവപുത്രന്‍
Transliteration: daivaputhran
Doctrine: Sonship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ദേവപുത്രന്‍

Inherited from Romans package. Does not occur as a lexical phrase in 2 Thessalonians itself, but retained here because 2:3’s ‘son of destruction’ (നാശത്തിന്‍റെ പുത്രന്‍) is a deliberate ironic antithesis to this term; translator notes on son_of_destruction must reference ദൈവപുത്രന്‍ explicitly and ensure no reader confuses the two titles.

Messiah

Approved rendering: ക്രിസ്തു
Transliteration: kristu
Doctrine: Messianic Promise

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs throughout 2 Thessalonians in the full title ‘our Lord Jesus Christ’ (ഈശോ/മിശിഹാ remain legitimate heritage alternatives only, not for this curriculum’s Bible-study register). ക്രിസ്തു is required.

Jesus

Approved rendering: യേശു
Transliteration: yeshu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs throughout 2 Thessalonians (1:7, 1:8, 1:12; 2:8 in some manuscripts).

God

Approved rendering: ദൈവം
Transliteration: daivam
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ഭഗവാന്‍
Original: θεός
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. At 2 Thessalonians 2:4, ‘every so-called god or object of worship’ (πάντα λεγόμενον θεόν) names false, illegitimate god-claims and must be rendered so as not to be confused with the proper-noun ദൈവം used of the true God elsewhere in the same verse; a qualifying construction (e.g. ‘ദൈവം എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതെല്ലാം’) is required to keep the distinction visible.

Holy Spirit

Approved rendering: പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ്
Transliteration: parishudhathmavu
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: ബ്രഹ്മം, പരമാത്മാവ്
Original: πνεῦμα (ἁγιασμῷ πνεύματος)
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. At 2 Thessalonians 2:13 the Greek is elliptical (‘sanctification of spirit,’ ἁγιασμῷ πνεύματος, lacking ἅγιος), but the Malayalam rendering must make the personal, Trinitarian referent explicit as പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ്, never a generic ‘spirit.‘

Father

Approved rendering: പിതാവ്
Transliteration: pithavu
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Original: πατήρ
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 1:1-2 and 2:16.

Man Of Lawlessness

Approved rendering: അധര്‍മ്മപുരുഷന്‍
Transliteration: adharmapurushan
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Rejected alternatives: ദുഷ്ടമനുഷ്യന്‍
Original: ὁ ἄνθρωπος τῆς ἀνομίας / ὁ ἄνομος
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. CORE DOCTRINE. Built on അധര്‍മ്മം (see next entry). Functions as a fixed theological title for one specific end-times figure (2:3, 2:8), never a generic description of a wrongdoer. Never flatten to ദുഷ്ടമനുഷ്യന്‍ (‘wicked man’) in back-translation. Every occurrence requires a translator note distinguishing this from Hindu dharma-violation. Highest risk tier in this curriculum; human theologian review required for every occurrence.

Lawlessness

Approved rendering: അധര്‍മ്മം
Transliteration: adharmam
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Rejected alternatives: ധര്‍മ്മലംഘനം
Original: ἀνομία
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. CORE DOCTRINE. The negation-prefix (അ-) form of ധര്‍മ്മം, the term the Romans baseline explicitly forbids for νόμος/δικαιοσύνη due to Hindu cosmic-duty connotations. Because അധര്‍മ്മം negates rather than invokes dharma, and is Kerala’s actual established rendering for ‘the man of sin’ (2:3, 2:7), it is retained but flagged Critical due to the shared root. NEVER ധര്‍മ്മലംഘനം, which would invoke dharma directly. Every occurrence requires a translator note stating this names rebellion against God’s revealed law (ന്യായപ്രമാണം), never dharma-violation. Human theologian review required for every occurrence.

High Risk Terms

Gospel

Approved rendering: സുവിശേഷം
Transliteration: suvisesham
Doctrine: Gospel
Original: εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package (baseline risk Medium; escalated to High in the 2 Thessalonians doctrine_risk_registry because 1:8’s ‘obey the gospel’ names those under eternal destruction, and 2:14 ties the gospel directly to effectual calling). Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 1:8 and 2:14. Established across all Malayalam Christian traditions; AI-drift-from-tradition is the operative risk, not vocabulary ambiguity.

Grace

Approved rendering: കൃപ
Transliteration: krupa
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: പുണ്യം
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 1:2, 1:12, 2:16, 3:18 (greeting and benediction formulas). Every occurrence must keep the source of grace explicitly Christ’s finished work, not bhakti-style devotional favor, despite the brief, formulaic feel of these lines.

Righteousness

Approved rendering: നീതി
Transliteration: neethi
Doctrine: God’s Righteous Judgment
Rejected alternatives: ധര്‍മ്മം
Original: δίκαιος / δικαι- root
Category: Judgment

Inherited from Romans package. Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 1:5-6 (δίκαιον, δικαία κρίσις), where it combines with the judgment-noun to form നീതിയുള്ള ന്യായവിധി (‘righteous judgment’). NEVER ധര്‍മ്മം. This root’s negated form (അധര്‍മ്മം) is used separately for ‘lawlessness’ — see that entry for the distinct fencing this creates.

Salvation

Approved rendering: രക്ഷ
Transliteration: raksha
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: മോക്ഷം, മുക്തി
Original: σωτηρία / σῴζω
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 2:10, 2:13. 2:10’s ‘believe and be saved’ and 2:12’s ‘believe not and be condemned’ form a deliberate contrast pair; രക്ഷ (here, and its verb form രക്ഷ പ്രാപിക്കുക) must be kept parallel in structure to വിധിക്കപ്പെടുക (see judgment_condemnation) so the antithesis remains visible. NEVER മോക്ഷം or മുക്തി.

Calling

Approved rendering: വിളി
Transliteration: vili
Doctrine: Divine Calling
Original: κλῆσις
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package (baseline risk Medium; escalated to High in the 2 Thessalonians registry). Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 2:14, effectual calling to salvation and glory ‘through our gospel,’ matching the Romans 8:28-30 sense already documented. Must not be softened into a merely invitational sense.

Saints

Approved rendering: വിശുദ്ധര്‍
Transliteration: vishudhar
Doctrine: Sainthood
Original: ἅγιοι
Category: Church

Inherited from Romans package. Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 1:10, ‘glorified in his saints.’ Same INVERTED RISK documented for Romans 1:7 applies: Kerala’s strong Catholic/Orthodox canonized-saint tradition (e.g. St. Alphonsa) predisposes readers to a narrow, formally-recognized-elite reading. 1:10 addresses the whole ordinary congregation at Christ’s coming; translator notes must widen, not narrow.

Glory

Approved rendering: മഹത്വം
Transliteration: mahatvam
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: δόξα
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package (baseline risk Medium; escalated to High in the 2 Thessalonians registry). Reused unchanged at 1:9, 1:10, 1:12, 2:14. 1:9’s destruction ‘from… the glory of his might’ and 2:14’s ‘obtain the glory’ form a deliberate contrast pair; keep മഹത്വം consistent in both.

Election

Approved rendering: ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ്
Transliteration: daivathinte thiranjeduppu
Doctrine: Election and Assurance
Rejected alternatives: വിധി, തലയെഴുത്ത്
Original: αἱρέομαι (εἵλατο)
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package concept. At 2 Thessalonians 2:13 realized in the verb തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു (‘God chose you’), functioning here as the antidote to the destabilizing false teaching of 2:1-2. Must retain the personal, sovereign-choice sense; never വിധി (fate) or തലയെഴുത്ത്.

Day Of The Lord

Approved rendering: കര്‍ത്താവിന്‍റെ നാൾ
Transliteration: karthavinte naal
Doctrine: The Day of the Lord
Rejected alternatives: കര്‍ത്തൃദിനം
Original: ἡμέρα τοῦ Κυρίου
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. CORE DOCTRINE. Malayalam’s weekly liturgical phrase കര്‍ത്തൃദിനം (‘the Lord’s Day’ = Sunday, from κυριακὴ ἡμέρα) is heard across every denomination. The eschatological ἡμέρα τοῦ Κυρίου must be rendered with the descriptive genitive construction കര്‍ത്താവിന്‍റെ നാൾ, kept visibly distinct from കര്‍ത്തൃദിനം, at every occurrence (2:2), or Paul’s central warning becomes unintelligible or trivialized into a calendar confusion. Human theologian review required on every occurrence.

Son Of Destruction

Approved rendering: നാശത്തിന്‍റെ പുത്രന്‍
Transliteration: nashathinte puthran
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Original: υἱὸς τῆς ἀπωλείας
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. Semitic idiom for one wholly characterized by, and destined for, final ruin (2:3). Deliberately, ironically mirrors ദൈവപുത്രന്‍ (‘Son of God’). Translator notes must make this antithetical structure explicit; never abbreviate in a way a reader could mistake for a variant Christ-title. Human theologian review required.

Apostasy

Approved rendering: വിശ്വാസത്യാഗം
Transliteration: vishwasathyagam
Doctrine: Apostasy / The Falling Away
Original: ἀποστασία
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. A definite, future, large-scale falling-away/rebellion event that must precede the Day of the Lord (2:3) — not an individual’s private loss of faith. Must be distinguished in teaching materials from ordinary, individual deconversion. Human theologian review required.

Restrainer

Approved rendering: തടയുന്നത് / തടയുന്നവന്‍
Transliteration: thadayunnathu / thadayunnavan
Doctrine: The Restrainer
Original: τὸ κατέχον / ὁ κατέχων
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. Neuter (2:6) / masculine (2:7) participial forms preserving the source’s own grammatical ambiguity between a restraining force and a restraining person. Do NOT insert an identifying gloss (Roman state, Holy Spirit, angel, gospel proclamation) into the translated text itself; any identification belongs only in an accompanying translator’s note. Human theologian review required on every occurrence.

Signs And Wonders False

Approved rendering: വ്യാജമായ അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും
Transliteration: vyajamaya adayalangalum athbhuthangalum
Doctrine: Satanic Counterfeit / False Signs and Wonders
Original: σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα ψεύδους
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 2:9. The qualifier ‘of falsehood’ (വ്യാജമായ) must never be dropped in translation or paraphrase — without it, readers could mistake this verse for an endorsement of the lawless one’s miracles as real divine power. Human theologian review required to ensure the qualifier is always retained.

Strong Delusion

Approved rendering: വഴിതെറ്റിക്കുന്ന പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം
Transliteration: vazhithettikkunna pravarthanam
Doctrine: Divine Judicial Hardening (Strong Delusion)
Rejected alternatives: വ്യാമോഹം
Original: ἐνέργεια πλάνης
Category: Judgment

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 2:11. Deliberately avoids വ്യാമോഹം (built on മോഹം/moha), which carries direct resonance with the Hindu philosophical concept of delusion binding the soul to rebirth — adjacent to the already-forbidden മോക്ഷം/മുക്തി risk for ‘salvation.’ Must always be taught alongside 2:10 and 2:12 so God’s judicial hardening is seen as response to prior unbelief, never arbitrary cause. Human theologian review required.

Judgment Condemnation

Approved rendering: ന്യായവിധി
Transliteration: nyayavidhi
Doctrine: God’s Righteous Judgment
Rejected alternatives: വിധി
Original: κρίσις / κρίνω
Category: Judgment

NEW TERM. Noun form used at 1:5-6 (nീതിയുള്ള ന്യായവിധി) and as the passive verb വിധിക്കപ്പെടുക at 2:12. The bare noun വിധി is already forbidden in the Romans baseline for election/providence because it collapses into impersonal fate in popular Malayalam usage; never use it bare here either. Human theologian review required for every occurrence.

Vengeance

Approved rendering: ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ ന്യായമായ പ്രതികാരം
Transliteration: daivathinte nyayamaya prathikaram
Doctrine: God’s Righteous Judgment
Original: ἐκδίκησις
Category: Judgment

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 1:8. Must always be qualified with ന്യായമായ (‘righteous/just’) to prevent readers from hearing arbitrary or vindictive human-style revenge rather than God’s own judicial retribution.

Eternal Destruction

Approved rendering: നിത്യനാശം
Transliteration: nithyanasham
Doctrine: Eternal Destruction and Final Judgment
Original: ὄλεθρος αἰώνιος
Category: Judgment

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 1:9. Straightforward compound (നിത്യ + നാശം); the risk is doctrinal weight, not linguistic ambiguity — must never be softened to a temporary or metaphorical setback. Human theologian review required.

Traditions

Approved rendering: പാരമ്പര്യങ്ങള്‍
Transliteration: paramparyangal
Doctrine: Standing Firm in the Traditions
Original: παράδοσις
Category: Church

NEW TERM. CORE DOCTRINE. At 2 Thessalonians 2:15 and 3:6. Carries two live Kerala-specific collision risks: (1) the ordinary word for ancestral/family/caste-linked custom, given Kerala’s documented caste-heritage stratification within Malayalam Christianity itself; (2) potential misreading as endorsing one denomination’s liturgical tradition over another’s. No safer lexical substitute exists; every occurrence requires a translator note anchoring the referent to 2:15b’s explicit self-definition (‘whether by word of mouth or by our letter’). Human theologian review required.

Medium Risk Terms

Faith

Approved rendering: വിശ്വാസം
Transliteration: vishwasam
Doctrine: Faith
Rejected alternatives: ഭക്തി
Original: πίστις
Category: Faith

Inherited from Romans package. Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 1:3-4, 1:11, 2:13, 3:2. 3:2’s ‘not all have faith’ must read as an observation about differing human response, not as implying God’s election (2:13) is itself uncertain.

Called

Approved rendering: വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ട
Transliteration: vilikkappetta
Doctrine: Divine Calling
Original: κλητός
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 1:11 (general calling to salvation/worthiness).

Holy

Approved rendering: പരിശുദ്ധ
Transliteration: parishudha
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: ശുദ്ധം

Inherited from Romans package. Underlies സാnctification (വിശുദ്ധീകരണം) and saints (വിശുദ്ധര്‍) at 2 Thessalonians 2:13 and 1:10 respectively; no independent bare occurrence in 2 Thessalonians but retained for morphological completeness.

Sanctification

Approved rendering: വിശുദ്ധീകരണം
Transliteration: vishudheekaranam
Doctrine: Sanctification
Original: ἁγιασμός
Category: Sanctification

Inherited from Romans package. Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 2:13. The elliptical Greek (‘sanctification of spirit,’ lacking the adjective ἅγιος) must still be rendered with the explicit personal Holy Spirit referent, not a generic ‘spirit.‘

Church

Approved rendering: സഭ
Transliteration: sabha
Doctrine: Church as God’s People
Rejected alternatives: അമ്പലം
Original: ἐκκλησία
Category: Church

Inherited from Romans package. Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 1:1, standard epistolary address to the Thessalonian congregation.

Kingdom Of God

Approved rendering: ദൈവരാജ്യം
Transliteration: daivarajyam
Doctrine: Kingdom Mission
Original: βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ
Category: Kingdom

Inherited from Romans package. Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 1:5, that for which believers’ present suffering counts them worthy; suffering must be framed as evidence of, not payment for, future worthiness.

Law

Approved rendering: ന്യായപ്രമാണം
Transliteration: nyayapramanam
Doctrine: Fulfillment of Prophecy
Rejected alternatives: ധര്‍മ്മം
Original: νόμος (root of ἀνομία)
Category: Covenant

Inherited from Romans package. Does not occur as a lexical item in 2 Thessalonians, but is the conceptual root being negated by ἀνομία (‘lawlessness’) at 2:3-8. Translator notes on lawlessness/man_of_lawlessness must state explicitly that the man of lawlessness stands against this very concept — God’s revealed moral order — not against Hindu dharma.

Sin

Approved rendering: പാപം
Transliteration: papam
Doctrine: Universal Human Accountability
Original: ἁμαρτία
Category: Sin

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs only as a minority manuscript variant (ἁμαρτίας, ‘man of sin’) for the title normally read ‘man of lawlessness’ at 2 Thessalonians 2:3. If any lectionary source text reflects this variant, render with this established term rather than inventing an alternative.

Power Of God

Approved rendering: ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ ശക്തി
Transliteration: daivathinte shakthi
Doctrine: Power of God for Salvation
Original: δύναμις (θεοῦ in 1:7; bare δύναμις in 2:9)
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. At 2 Thessalonians 1:7, God’s power positively displayed at Christ’s coming. The bare word ശക്തി (without ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ) is deliberately reused at 2:9 for Satan’s counterfeit power — see power_of_god_counterfeit note under the parody-structure entries; do NOT invent a separate word for the counterfeit instance.

Temple Of God

Approved rendering: ദൈവാലയം
Transliteration: daivalayam
Doctrine: Self-Exaltation and False Worship
Rejected alternatives: അമ്പലം
Original: ναὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 2:4. Distinct from അമ്പലം (Hindu temple, already forbidden in the Romans baseline for ἐκκλησία); the ദൈവ- element keeps this compound doctrinally safe. Native speaker review recommended for the genuine interpretive range (future rebuilt temple vs. church as God’s dwelling), not for syncretism risk.

Mystery

Approved rendering: മർമ്മം
Transliteration: marmam
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Original: μυστήριον
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 2:7, ‘the mystery of lawlessness’ already secretly at work. Established Malayalam theological term (also used for ‘the mystery of the gospel/of Christ’); low ambiguity.

Falsehood

Approved rendering: വ്യാജം
Transliteration: vyajam
Doctrine: Divine Judicial Hardening (Strong Delusion)
Original: ψεῦδος
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. Qualifies both the false signs (2:9) and the content unbelievers come to believe (2:11). Keep consistent across both occurrences to preserve the passage’s internal logical connection between counterfeit miracle and judicial hardening.

Perishing

Approved rendering: നശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നവര്‍
Transliteration: nashichukondirikkunnavar
Doctrine: God’s Righteous Judgment
Original: ἀπολλύμενοι (ἀπόλλυμι)
Category: Judgment

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 2:10. Present participle describing an ongoing trajectory, not a completed/final state; must not be conflated with the final, permanent ὄλεθρος αἰώνιος of 1:9.

Coming Parousia

Approved rendering: വരവ്
Transliteration: varavu
Doctrine: The Day of the Lord
Original: παρουσία
Category: Christology

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 2:1, 2:8 (Christ’s genuine coming) and deliberately reused at 2:9 (the lawless one’s blasphemous counterfeit ‘coming’). Must retain the same Malayalam word for both — this repetition is intentional in the Greek and must not be smoothed away by inventing separate vocabulary for each instance.

Gathering Together

Approved rendering: സമ്മേളനം
Transliteration: sammelanam
Doctrine: The Day of the Lord
Original: ἐπισυναγωγή
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 2:1, the future, one-time gathering of believers to Christ at his parousia. Keep distinct from ordinary church-gathering vocabulary (കൂട്ടായ്മ/സഭ, already reserved in the Romans baseline for fellowship/church).

Appearing Manifestation

Approved rendering: പ്രത്യക്ഷത
Transliteration: pratyakshatha
Doctrine: The Day of the Lord
Original: ἐπιφάνεια
Category: Christology

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 2:8. A near-synonym of παρουσία used for emphasis; standard technical NT term (cf. Titus 2:13; 2 Tim 4:1,8), low ambiguity once distinguished from ordinary ‘appearance.‘

Activity Working

Approved rendering: പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം
Transliteration: pravarthanam
Doctrine: The Man of Lawlessness
Original: ἐνέργεια / ἐνεργέω
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. Used at both 2:7 (the mystery of lawlessness already at work) and 2:9 (Satan’s empowering activity). Use the same Malayalam word for both occurrences per the Greek; the surrounding context, never a different lexical choice, carries the moral-source distinction.

Stand Firm

Approved rendering: ഉറച്ചു നില്‍ക്കുവിന്‍
Transliteration: uracchu nilkkuvin
Doctrine: Standing Firm in the Traditions
Original: στήκετε
Category: Church

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 2:15. Pastoral imperative of steadfast resistance to destabilizing false teaching; pairs directly with the traditions doctrine as its practical outworking.

Persecutions

Approved rendering: പീഡനങ്ങള്‍
Transliteration: peedanangal
Doctrine: Perseverance under Persecution
Original: διωγμοί
Category: Perseverance

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 1:4. Active, external hostile action against believers because of their faith; distinct from θλῖψις/affliction, which names broader distress.

Afflictions

Approved rendering: കഷ്ടതകള്‍
Transliteration: kashtatakal
Doctrine: Perseverance under Persecution
Rejected alternatives: മഹാകഷ്ടം
Original: θλίψεις
Category: Perseverance

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 1:4, 1:6. Suffering/distress experienced broadly, alongside persecution. Must not be automatically rendered with the technical end-times ‘Great Tribulation’ vocabulary (മഹാകഷ്ടം) used elsewhere for Revelation’s distinct future event, unless context specifically warrants it.

Endurance

Approved rendering: സഹിഷ്ണുത
Transliteration: sahishnutha
Doctrine: Perseverance under Persecution
Original: ὑπομονή
Category: Perseverance

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 1:4. Active, faith-fueled steadfastness under trial, not passive resignation; must be distinguished from its common secular ‘tolerance’ sense and from fatalistic endurance associated with the popular idiom വിധി.

Idleness

Approved rendering: ക്രമരഹിതമായി
Transliteration: kramarahithamayi
Doctrine: Church Discipline and Correction of Idleness
Original: ἀτάκτως / ἀτακτέω
Category: Church

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 3:6, 3:7, 3:11. Military-metaphor root (‘out of ranks’); refusal to work while awaiting Christ’s return, treated as a breach of apostolic tradition. Pastoral register should convey firm correction, not contempt.

Evil One

Approved rendering: ദുഷ്ടന്‍
Transliteration: dushtan
Doctrine: Divine Faithfulness and Protection from the Evil One
Original: ὁ πονηρός
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 3:3, titular reference to Satan, distinguished from the plain adjective ദുഷ്ടര്‍ used of hostile human beings at 3:2 — same root, different referent; context must disambiguate.

Rescue

Approved rendering: വിടുവിക്കുക
Transliteration: viduvikkuka
Doctrine: Perseverance under Persecution
Original: ῥύομαι
Category: Perseverance

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 3:2, deliverance from immediate danger posed by hostile people. Distinct from the soteriological രക്ഷ (‘salvation’); this is situational rescue from persecution.

Low Risk Terms

Peace

Approved rendering: സമാധാനം
Transliteration: samadhanam
Doctrine: Peace with God
Original: εἰρήνη
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 1:2 (greeting) and 3:16 (‘the Lord of peace himself give you peace’ — see lord_of_peace, a new compound built from this and the lord entry).

Thanksgiving

Approved rendering: കൃതജ്ഞത
Transliteration: kruthajnatha
Doctrine: Thanksgiving
Original: εὐχαριστία / εὐχαριστέω
Category: Faith

Inherited from Romans package. Reused unchanged at 2 Thessalonians 1:3 and 2:13.

Exhort

Approved rendering: പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുക
Transliteration: prothsahippikkuka
Doctrine: Mutual Edification

Inherited from Romans package’s context-sensitive pattern. At 2 Thessalonians 2:17, ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുക (comfort) is used for unsettled hearts; at 3:12, പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുക/exhortation register is used for disorderly members told to work quietly. Select per context, consistent with the baseline note.

Satan

Approved rendering: സാത്താന്‍
Transliteration: sathan
Doctrine: Satanic Counterfeit / False Signs and Wonders
Original: Σατανᾶς
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM (transliterated proper name). At 2 Thessalonians 2:9, the empowering source behind the man of lawlessness’s rise. Universally understood the same way across Malayalam religious communities; no competing native-term risk.

Deception

Approved rendering: വഞ്ചന
Transliteration: vanchana
Doctrine: Satanic Counterfeit / False Signs and Wonders
Original: ἀπάτη
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 2:10, the lawless one’s total program of deceiving those who reject the truth. Standard term, low ambiguity.

Truth

Approved rendering: സത്യം
Transliteration: sathyam
Doctrine: Divine Judicial Hardening (Strong Delusion)
Original: ἀλήθεια
Category: Eschatology

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 2:10, 2:12, 2:13. Standard, low-collision term used consistently across all three occurrences.

Command

Approved rendering: കല്‍പ്പിക്കുന്നു
Transliteration: kalpikkunnu
Doctrine: Standing Firm in the Traditions
Original: παραγγέλλω
Category: Church

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 3:4, 3:6, 3:10, 3:12. Formal, authoritative apostolic instruction; register should convey apostolic authority without harshness, consistent with 3:15’s instruction not to treat the disorderly as an enemy.

Imitate

Approved rendering: അനുകരിക്കുക
Transliteration: anukarikkuka
Doctrine: Standing Firm in the Traditions
Original: μιμέομαι
Category: Church

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 3:7, 3:9. Modeling one’s conduct on the apostles’ own example; connects directly to the traditions doctrine as embodied, not merely propositional, teaching.

Admonish

Approved rendering: ബുദ്ധിയുപദേശിക്കുക
Transliteration: buddhiyupadheshikkuka
Doctrine: Church Discipline and Correction of Idleness
Original: νουθετέω
Category: Church

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 3:15. Corrective, relational counsel aimed at repentance and restoration, explicitly contrasted with treating the person as an ἐχθρός (‘enemy’); tone must remain pastoral.

Faithful

Approved rendering: വിശ്വസ്തന്‍
Transliteration: vishwasthan
Doctrine: Divine Faithfulness and Protection from the Evil One
Original: πιστός
Category: God

NEW TERM. At 2 Thessalonians 3:3, God’s own reliability, the ground of the Thessalonians’ security. Direct adjectival extension of the established വിശ്വാസം root.

Lord Of Peace

Approved rendering: സമാധാനത്തിന്‍റെ കര്‍ത്താവ്
Transliteration: samadhanathinte karthavu
Doctrine: Peace from the Lord of Peace
Original: ὁ Κύριος τῆς εἰρήνης
Category: God

NEW compound title at 2 Thessalonians 3:16, combining two already-safe baseline terms (കര്‍ത്താവ്, സമാധാനം); no additional risk introduced.
