Doctrine Analysis

11 Doctrine Analysis — Titus (English → Malayalam)

This is the full doctrine matrix for Titus 1–3, covering every chapter and major section of the book. It is consistent with doctrine_risk_registry.json (same 21 doctrines, same risk tiers, same review routing) and extends, without contradicting, the baseline Romans Language Package. The core passage (Titus 2:11–3:8) supplies the theological anchor for the curriculum but is not the scope boundary — every verse of Titus 1–3 has been reviewed, and sections contributing no new doctrine or term are explicitly noted as reviewed rather than silently omitted.

Risk tiers (identical to baseline): Critical = human theologian review, every occurrence. High = human theologian review. Medium = native speaker review. Low = automated review.

Chapter 1 (Titus 1:1–16)

Titus 1:1–4 — Salutation

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation RiskReview Routing
Election and Divine Calling1:1HighReuses baseline ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് exactly. Must not read as fatalistic (തലയെഴുത്ത്-style) destiny; God’s personal, sovereign choice.Human theologian
Inspiration and Truth of the Gospel Message1:1–3Mediumസത്യം (truth) is shared vocabulary across Malayalam’s religious communities; the doctrinal sense — objectively revealed truth entrusted to Paul, opposed to μῦθοι/കെട്ടുകഥ later in the book — must be secured by context.Native speaker
Trinitarian Savior Pattern1:3–4Highരക്ഷകൻ applied to “God our Savior” (1:3) and “Christ Jesus our Savior” (1:4) within four verses; both must render identically to preserve, not obscure, the pattern.Human theologian
Godliness and Ungodliness1:1 (εὐσέβεια, “knowledge of the truth that accords with godliness”)Highദൈവഭക്തി uses ഭക്തി, the term the baseline forbids alone for faith due to bhakti collision; distinct Greek word here (conduct-evidencing devotion), requires translator note on first occurrence.Human theologian

Titus 1:5–9 — Qualifications for Elders / Overseers

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation RiskReview Routing
Qualifications for Elders1:5–6, 1:7–9Highമൂപ്പൻ (established ecumenical elder term) is low-ambiguity; ഏകപത്നീവ്രതനായ ഭർത്താവ് (husband of one wife) requires care to convey marital fidelity, not a rigid legalistic exclusion, given varying Kerala denominational remarriage polity.Human theologian
Identity of Elder and Overseer (Church Polity)1:5–7CriticalTitus identifies πρεσβύτερος and ἐπίσκοπος as the same local office. NEVER ബിഷപ്പ്/മെത്രാൻ (exalted diocesan titles in Kerala’s Orthodox/Catholic traditions) — ALWAYS മേൽവിചാരകൻ. Using the forbidden terms would import centuries of later ecclesiastical hierarchy into a first-century text and destroy the verse’s own polity claim.Human theologian
Sound Doctrine and Good Works (introduced)1:9 (ability to teach ὑγιαίνουσα διδασκαλία and refute opponents)Highആരോഗ്യകരമായ ഉപദേശം introduced here as the elder’s core teaching qualification; must preserve the “health” metaphor rather than substitute a purity-register word.Human theologian

Titus 1:10–16 — False Teachers and Divisive Controversy

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation RiskReview Routing
Avoiding Divisive Controversies1:10–14Mediumഭിന്നതയുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന ആൾ (root of English “heretic”) must stay in its Titus-era relational/social sense, not a later formal heresy-trial connotation. Jewish-Christian “circumcision party” reference (1:10) requires a careful historical-not-ethnic framing note.Native speaker
Godliness and Ungodliness (contrast)1:15–16 (“to the defiled… nothing is pure”; “they profess to know God, but deny him by their works”)HighSame ദൈവഭക്തി/അഭക്തി collision-avoidance logic as above; 1:16’s false “good works” profession is the book’s first instance of the ἔργα-family double-function that recurs at 3:5 — flag for the fruit/basis distinction.Human theologian
Sound Doctrine and Good Works (negative pole)1:16 (“unfit for any good work,” ἀδόκιμος)HighEstablishes the negative pole of the celebrated സൽപ്രവൃത്തികൾ refrain; must render with the same root vocabulary as the positive occurrences (2:7, 2:14, 3:1, 3:8, 3:14) so the contrast, not a lexical mismatch, carries the theological point.Human theologian

Chapter 1 coverage note: All 16 verses reviewed. No verses in this chapter fall outside the doctrines listed above; the vice-list vocabulary of 1:7,1:10,1:12 is addressed as a Low-risk grouped cluster in 08_core_glossary.md Section C and requires no separate doctrine-matrix entry.

Chapter 2 (Titus 2:1–15)

Titus 2:1–10 — Household Ethics and Witness

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation RiskReview Routing
Household Ethics and Missional Witness2:1–10MediumHousehold conduct functions as public apologetic (2:5 “that the word of God may not be reviled”; 2:10 “adorn the doctrine”). Age-terms മുതിർന്ന പുരുഷൻ/മുതിർന്ന സ്ത്രീ (2:2–3) must remain visibly distinct from the office-term മൂപ്പൻ.Native speaker
Submission to Authority (household form)2:5, 2:9HighWives’ and household servants’ submission language (κἰποτάσσω/κατέξ) sits alongside Kerala’s own caste-stratification history and its documented internal-church echo; must not be translatable as endorsement of caste-linked subordination.Human theologian
Christian Identity as Bondservant of God (contrast introduced)2:9–10 (δοῦλος, literal household slavery)Highദാസൻ here in its literal social sense; requires contextual framing distinct from 1:1’s positive theological self-designation and from 3:3’s sinful “slaves to desires.”Human theologian
Sound Doctrine and Good Works2:7 (τύπον καλῶν ἔργων, “a model of good works”)HighFirst appearance of the positive സൽപ്രവൃത്തികൾ pole in ch. 2; must render identically to 2:14, 3:1, 3:8, 3:14.Human theologian

Titus 2:11–14 — Grace’s Appearing (Core Passage begins)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation RiskReview Routing
Grace That Trains for Godly Living2:11–12Highകൃപ (grace, bhakti-collision term) compounded with ശിക്ഷണം (training — must not collapse to ശിക്ഷ/punishment alone) and ദൈവഭക്തി; must keep training grounded in Christ’s finished work, not devotee self-effort.Human theologian
Epiphany Theology (Christ’s Appearing)2:11, 2:13MediumFirst two of three ἐπιφαίνω-family occurrences (grace’s past appearing; glory’s future appearing); പ്രത്യക്ഷമാകുക must render identically across all three (with 3:4) so the deliberate literary structure is visible to Malayalam readers.Native speaker
Deity of Christ2:13 (“our great God and Savior Jesus Christ”)CriticalPrimary NT proof-text for full deity of Christ; one referent governs both “God” and “Savior.” Malayalam’s word order/apposition must secure a single-person reading: നമ്മുടെ വലിയ ദൈവവും രക്ഷകനുമായ യേശുക്രിസ്തു. A phrasing readable as two persons (Father and Son) must be rejected.Human theologian
Trinitarian Savior Pattern2:10, 2:13Highരക്ഷകൻ applied to God (implicitly, teaching context) and explicitly to Christ (2:13) within the same section; identical rendering required.Human theologian
Covenant People / Peculiar Possession2:14Highസ്വന്തജനം (Exodus 19:5 LXX echo) bridges Israel and church as one covenant people; connects to baseline’s unity_of_jews_and_gentiles caution (ജനതകള്‍, never ജാതികള്‍) in surrounding peoplehood teaching.Human theologian
Sound Doctrine and Good Works2:14 (redeemed “to be… zealous for good works”)HighSecond celebratory occurrence of സൽപ്രവൃത്തികൾ; must render identically to 2:7, 3:1, 3:8, 3:14.Human theologian

Titus 2:15 — Transitional Exhortation

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation RiskReview Routing
Sound Doctrine and Good Works2:15 (exhort/reprove with authority)HighReuses baseline പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുക (exhort, Low baseline risk) within a High-risk doctrinal frame; ensure the authority Paul assigns Titus is not diluted into mere friendly encouragement.Native speaker

Chapter 2 coverage note: All 15 verses reviewed. No content outside the doctrines above.

Chapter 3 (Titus 3:1–15)

Titus 3:1–2 — Submission and Civic Conduct

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation RiskReview Routing
Submission to Authority3:1HighDirect parallel to the baseline’s Romans 13 precedent (already flagged in baseline AI instructions); അധികാരികൾക്ക് കീഴ്പെടുക/അനുസരിക്കുക must not be read through a caste-subordination lens given Kerala’s social history.Human theologian
Household Ethics and Missional Witness3:2 (peaceable-conduct virtues)MediumLow-risk vocabulary cluster (കലഹമില്ലാത്ത, സൗമ്യഭാവമുള്ള, സൗമ്യത); grouped per 08_core_glossary.md Section C.Native speaker

Titus 3:3 — Pre-Conversion Condition

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation RiskReview Routing
Christian Identity as Bondservant of God (contrast)3:3 (“slaves to various passions”)Highദാസൻ (slaves) here describes sinful bondage, the negative counterpart to 1:1’s positive self-designation and 2:9’s literal household sense; three-way contrast must remain distinguishable through context, not three different Malayalam words.Human theologian
Godliness and Ungodliness (pre-conversion vice list)3:3HighSets up the ungodliness (അഭക്തി) that 3:4–7’s grace answers; vice-list terms themselves are a Low-risk grouped cluster (Section C of glossary).Human theologian (doctrine frame) / Native speaker (vocabulary)

Titus 3:4–7 — Salvation, Regeneration, Justification (Core Passage climax)

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation RiskReview Routing
Salvation by Grace not Works3:5, 3:7CriticalPaul’s sharpest “not by works” statement outside Romans/Ephesians. നീതിയിലുള്ള പ്രവൃത്തികൾ (works of righteousness) must be unmistakably the rejected basis for salvation, never confused with the celebrated സൽപ്രവൃത്തികൾ refrain elsewhere — the single highest-value distinction in this book.Human theologian
Regeneration by the Holy Spirit3:5–6Criticalπαλιγγενεσία sits in the same semantic neighborhood as the baseline’s forbidden പുനർജന്മം (reincarnation). NEVER പുനർജനനം or പുനർജന്മം — ALWAYS നവജനനം (built on നവ, “new,” never on the “again/re-” root). Parallel severity to the baseline’s incarnation/resurrection forbidden-substitution rules.Human theologian
Epiphany Theology (Christ’s Appearing)3:4MediumThird of three ἐπιφαίνω-family occurrences (kindness’s appearing); must render identically to 2:11, 2:13.Native speaker
Mercy and Kindness of God3:4–5Mediumകരുണ (mercy, answers misery/need), ദയ/മനുഷ്യസ്നേഹം (kindness/love for mankind, motive for salvation), and കൃപ (grace, answers unworthiness) sit together in one passage; none should absorb or replace the others.Native speaker
Justification and Inheritance3:7CriticalReuses baseline’s Critical നീതീകരണം exactly (forensic, completed declaration); must never soften to bare ക്ഷമ (forgiven). അവകാശികൾ (heirs) should link in teaching notes to baseline’s adoption doctrine (ദത്തുപുത്രത്വം).Human theologian
Hope of Eternal Life3:7 (closes inclusio with 1:2)Mediumപ്രത്യാശ must convey confident expectation grounded in God’s unlying character (1:2), not wishful uncertainty or Malayalam fatalism idioms already flagged in the baseline’s providence/election entries.Native speaker
Trinitarian Savior Pattern3:4, 3:6Highരക്ഷകൻ applied to “God our Savior” (3:4) and, via the Spirit poured out “through Jesus Christ our Savior” (3:6), to Christ — both within three verses; identical rendering required to preserve the pattern.Human theologian

Titus 3:8 — Summary Charge

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation RiskReview Routing
Sound Doctrine and Good Works3:8 (“these things are excellent and profitable… devote themselves to good works”)HighThird celebratory occurrence of സൽപ്രവൃത്തികൾ, immediately following 3:5’s rejected-basis usage two verses earlier — the tightest-spaced instance of the fruit/basis contrast in the whole book; flag explicitly for reviewer attention.Human theologian
Inspiration and Truth of the Gospel Message3:8 (“faithful is the saying,” ഈ വാക്ക് വിശ്വാസ്യമാണ്)MediumFixed Pastoral Epistles formula; lock rendering now for cross-document consistency with any future 1–2 Timothy curriculum.Native speaker

Titus 3:9–11 — Avoiding Controversy and Church Discipline

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation RiskReview Routing
Avoiding Divisive Controversies3:9Mediumവംശാവലി (genealogy) here is unproductive speculation, distinct from the baseline’s covenant-historical ദാവീദിന്‍റെ വംശത്തില്‍ (seed of David); do not let the shared lineage-vocabulary root blur this distinction.Native speaker
Church Discipline Toward Divisive Persons3:10–11MediumPaul’s two-step pastoral process (admonish, then avoid) must read as relational/corrective, not punitive or excommunication-style disproportionate to the text.Native speaker

Titus 3:12–15 — Closing Instructions and Benediction

DoctrineSupporting PassagesRiskTranslation RiskReview Routing
(No new doctrine)3:12–15Personal travel instructions, greetings, and the closing grace-benediction (“Grace be with you all,” reusing baseline കൃപ exactly). Reviewed in full: no new theological terms or doctrines beyond those already catalogued. Fellowship/κοινωνία-adjacent language here should follow the baseline’s established കൂട്ടായ്മ conventions where applicable.Automated review sufficient

Chapter 3 coverage note: All 15 verses reviewed, including the closing section explicitly noted above as contributing no new doctrine.

Critical Risk Doctrines

Identity of Elder and Overseer (Church Polity)

Malayalam name: മൂപ്പനും മേൽവിചാരകനും ഒരേ ശുശ്രൂഷ
Key terms: elder, overseer/bishop, steward
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: Titus 1:5-7 identifies πρεσβύτερος (elder) and ἐπίσκοπος (overseer) as the very same local office. Kerala’s Orthodox, Catholic, and other episcopal traditions reserve ബിഷപ്പ്/മെത്രാൻ for an exalted diocesan/metropolitan office; using either word here would import centuries of later ecclesiastical hierarchy into a first-century local-church text and misrepresent the text’s own church-polity claim. NEVER ബിഷപ്പ് or മെത്രാൻ; always മേൽവിചാരകൻ.

Salvation by Grace not Works

Malayalam name: പ്രവൃത്തികളല്ല, കൃപയാലുള്ള രക്ഷ
Key terms: salvation, grace, works of righteousness, mercy, justification
Review routing: Human theologian

Titus 3:5 is Paul’s sharpest ‘not by works’ statement outside Romans/Ephesians. രക്ഷ is already established, low-risk Malayalam Christian vocabulary (never മോക്ഷം/മുക്തി per baseline), but the surrounding നീതിയിലുള്ള പ്രവൃത്തികൾ (works of righteousness) must be unmistakably read as the rejected basis for salvation, not confused with the celebrated സൽപ്രവൃത്തികൾ (good works) refrain elsewhere in the same book — the single highest-value distinction for reviewers in this curriculum.

Regeneration by the Holy Spirit

Malayalam name: പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനാലുള്ള നവജനനം
Key terms: regeneration, renewal, Holy Spirit, washing
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: παλιγγενεσία (‘new becoming’) sits in the same semantic neighborhood as the baseline’s forbidden പുനർജന്മം (reincarnation) used for resurrection. A fluent-sounding but wrong Malayalam compound, പുനർജനനം (built on പുനർ, ‘again/re-’), is dangerously close in both form and root sense to reincarnation vocabulary. NEVER പുനർജനനം or പുനർജന്മം; ALWAYS നവജനനം (built on നവ, ‘new’). This is the parallel case, for a new doctrine, to the baseline’s forbidden incarnation/resurrection substitutions, and carries the same severity.

Deity of Christ

Malayalam name: ക്രിസ്തുവിന്‍റെ ദൈവത്വം
Key terms: our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, glory, God our Savior
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: Titus 2:13 is a primary New Testament proof-text for the full deity of Christ — one Greek article governs both ‘God’ and ‘Savior,’ both titles of Jesus Christ as one person. Malayalam lacks Greek’s definite-article apparatus, so the single-referent reading must be secured through word order/apposition: നമ്മുടെ വലിയ ദൈവവും രക്ഷകനുമായ യേശുക്രിസ്തു. A rendering using ‘ഉം’ in a way readable as two separate persons (Father and Son) would soften this doctrine’s force and must be rejected.

Justification and Inheritance

Malayalam name: നീതീകരണവും അവകാശവും
Key terms: justified by his grace, heirs, hope of eternal life
Review routing: Human theologian

Reuses the baseline’s Critical നീതീകരണം exactly (forensic, completed-status declaration); must never be softened to a bare ‘forgiven’ (ക്ഷമ) term per the baseline’s explicit prohibition. The inheritance term അവകാശികൾ should be linked in teaching notes to the baseline’s adoption doctrine (ദത്തുപുത്രത്വം) so learners connect adoption and inheritance as one package.

High Risk Doctrines

Grace That Trains for Godly Living

Malayalam name: ദൈവഭക്തിക്കായി പരിശീലിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കൃപ
Key terms: grace, training/discipline, godliness, ungodliness, worldly desires
Review routing: Human theologian

കൃപ (grace) is shared vocabulary with Kerala’s Hindu bhakti tradition (per the baseline’s grace entry); here it is compounded with ശിക്ഷണം (a formative-training word that must not collapse into ശിക്ഷ, punishment alone) and ദൈവഭക്തി (which itself borrows ഭക്തി, the term the baseline forbids alone for faith due to bhakti-devotion collision). Every occurrence must keep grace’s disciplining work grounded in Christ’s finished work, not devotee self-effort or ritual punishment.

Qualifications for Elders

Malayalam name: മൂപ്പന്‍മാരുടെ യോഗ്യതകൾ
Key terms: elder, blameless, husband of one wife, steward
Review routing: Human theologian

മൂപ്പൻ is the established ecumenical Malankara Orthodox/Marthoma term for this office and carries low ambiguity, but the culturally sensitive qualification ഏകപത്നീവ്രതനായ ഭർത്താവ് (husband of one wife) requires careful handling so it conveys marital fidelity rather than a rigid legalistic exclusion rule not intended by Paul, especially given varying Kerala denominational marriage/remarriage polity.

Sound Doctrine and Good Works

Malayalam name: ആരോഗ്യകരമായ ഉപദേശവും സൽപ്രവൃത്തികളും
Key terms: sound doctrine, teaching, good works, truth
Review routing: Human theologian

സൽപ്രവൃത്തികൾ (good works) is this book’s single highest-frequency refrain and must be rendered identically at every celebratory occurrence while remaining sharply distinguishable in context from the same Greek root’s use in 3:5 as the rejected basis of salvation — the two functions must never be confused or given competing Malayalam words, but the fruit/basis distinction must be recoverable from context and carried in teaching notes.

Submission to Authority

Malayalam name: അധികാരങ്ങൾക്ക് കീഴ്പെടൽ
Key terms: submit, obey, rulers and authorities, slave and master, wife and husband
Review routing: Human theologian

Kerala’s own social history includes rigid historical caste stratification with a documented internal-church echo between the historic Syrian Christian community and more recent Dalit-convert communities (per the baseline’s universal_scope_of_gospel doctrine entry). Submission teaching applied to civil rulers, household wives, and household slaves/servants (2:5, 2:9, 3:1) must be translated so it cannot be co-opted to reinforce caste-linked subordination; this mirrors the Romans 13 precedent already flagged in the baseline AI instructions and requires the same human theologian review plus contextual teaching notes rather than softened translation.

Election and Divine Calling

Malayalam name: ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പും വിളിയും
Key terms: God’s elect, apostle, knowledge of the truth
Review routing: Human theologian

Reuses the baseline’s ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് exactly; God’s sovereign, personal choice must remain distinct from fatalistic Malayalam idioms (e.g. തലയെഴുത്ത്, ‘writing on the forehead’) already flagged in the baseline election entry.

Church as God’s Covenant People (Peculiar Possession)

Malayalam name: ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ സ്വന്തജനം
Key terms: a people for his own possession, redeem from all lawlessness
Review routing: Human theologian

This Exodus 19:5 LXX echo bridges Israel and the church as one covenant people, directly relevant to the baseline’s unity_of_jews_and_gentiles doctrine and its caution to use ജനതകള്‍ rather than ജാതികള്‍ (which reads as ‘castes’) wherever peoplehood language recurs; സ്വന്തജനം itself carries no caste-adjacent risk, but surrounding peoplehood vocabulary in teaching material must maintain that same caution.

Christian Identity as Bondservant of God

Malayalam name: ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ ദാസനെന്ന ക്രിസ്തീയ വ്യക്തിത്വം
Key terms: bondservant of God, slaves to desires, slave/master
Review routing: Human theologian

ദാസൻ describes both Paul’s positive self-designation as God’s bondservant (1:1) and, in stark contrast, sinful bondage to desire (3:3) and literal household slavery (2:9). ദാസൻ also occurs in Hindu bhakti tradition as a devotee’s self-designation before a deity — the same collision-class concern the baseline documents for grace/കൃപ — so context must keep 1:1’s usage specifically about belonging to the God of Scripture through Christ, not a generic devotee-of-a-deity framing; teaching notes should also acknowledge Kerala’s own historical caste-linked servitude when 2:9’s household-slavery text is taught.

Trinitarian Savior Pattern

Malayalam name: പിതാവിനും പുത്രനും ബാധകമായ ‘രക്ഷകൻ’ എന്ന നാമം
Key terms: God our Savior, Jesus Christ our Savior
Review routing: Human theologian

രക്ഷകൻ (Savior) is applied fluidly to both God the Father (1:3, 2:10, 3:4) and Jesus Christ (1:4, 2:13, 3:6) — the highest density of this title in the New Testament. Translators and teaching notes must not read this as implying ‘Savior’ is exclusively a Father-title or exclusively a Christ-title; both applications must render identically (രക്ഷകൻ) to preserve, rather than obscure, the trinitarian pattern.

Godliness and Ungodliness

Malayalam name: ദൈവഭക്തിയും അഭക്തിയും
Key terms: godliness, ungodliness, worldly desires, self-controlled, upright, godly
Review routing: Human theologian

ദൈവഭക്തി renders εὐσέβεια using ഭക്തി (bhakti), the very word the baseline explicitly rejects alone for πίστις/faith due to its Hindu devotional-tradition collision; here it renders a genuinely distinct Greek word (reverent, obedient devotion evidenced in conduct, not trust). Every occurrence requires a translator note that ദൈവഭക്തി must never substitute for, or be treated as synonymous with, വിശ്വാസം (faith).

Medium Risk Doctrines

Avoiding Divisive Controversies

Malayalam name: ഭിന്നതയുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന തർക്കങ്ങൾ ഒഴിവാക്കൽ
Key terms: myths, foolish controversies, genealogies, quarrels about the law, divisive person
Review routing: Native speaker review

ഭിന്നതയുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന ആൾ (the root of the later technical term ‘heretic’) must be kept in its Titus-era social/relational sense — a division-causing person — rather than rendered with vocabulary that imports later formal doctrinal heresy-trial connotations not yet present in this text; an anachronism risk rather than a syncretism risk.

Epiphany Theology (Christ’s Appearing)

Malayalam name: ക്രിസ്തുവിന്‍റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയുടെ ഉപദേശം
Key terms: grace appeared, glory appeared, kindness appeared
Review routing: Native speaker review

Titus structures its ethics between two datable ‘epiphanies’ — grace/kindness’s past appearing and glory’s future appearing — a distinctive structural feature requiring one consistent Malayalam verb family (പ്രത്യക്ഷമാകുക) across all three occurrences so Malayalam readers can recognize the deliberate literary pattern, not three unrelated events.

Household Ethics and Missional Witness

Malayalam name: കുടുംബധാർമ്മികതയും സാക്ഷ്യവും
Key terms: older men and women, younger men and women, adorn the teaching, word of God not reviled
Review routing: Native speaker review

Household conduct functions as public apologetic for the gospel’s credibility (2:5, 2:10); no major syncretism risk, but the elder-office term മൂപ്പൻ must not be confused with the unrelated age-terms മുതിർന്ന പുരുഷൻ/മുതിർന്ന സ്ത്രീ used here for ordinary older men and women.

Hope of Eternal Life

Malayalam name: നിത്യജീവന്‍റെ പ്രത്യാശ
Key terms: hope of eternal life, the God who never lies, blessed hope
Review routing: Native speaker review

Forms an inclusio bookending the letter (1:2/3:7); പ്രത്യാശ (hope) must convey confident expectation grounded in God’s unlying character, not wishful uncertainty or the fatalism idioms already flagged in the baseline’s providence/election entries.

Mercy and Kindness of God

Malayalam name: ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ കരുണയും ദയയും
Key terms: mercy, kindness, love for mankind
Review routing: Native speaker review

കരുണ (mercy, answering misery/need) and ദയ/മനുഷ്യസ്നേഹം (kindness/love for mankind, the motive for salvation) sit alongside കൃപ (grace, answering unworthiness) in the same passage; none of the three should absorb or replace the others in translation, since each carries a distinct nuance in the Greek that the Malayalam rendering must preserve for accurate teaching.

Inspiration and Truth of the Gospel Message

Malayalam name: സുവിശേഷസന്ദേശത്തിന്‍റെ ദിവ്യനിശ്വസ്തതയും സത്യതയും
Key terms: knowledge of the truth, the God who never lies, entrusted proclamation
Review routing: Native speaker review

Extends the baseline’s inspiration_of_scripture doctrine framework; സത്യം (truth) is shared vocabulary across Malayalam’s religious communities, so the doctrinal sense — the gospel’s objective, revealed truth opposed to μῦθοι/കെട്ടുകഥ (myths) — must be secured by context, consistent with the baseline’s low-ambiguity treatment of this term family.

Church Discipline Toward Divisive Persons

Malayalam name: ഭിന്നതയുണ്ടാക്കുന്നവരോടുള്ള സഭാശിക്ഷണം
Key terms: admonition, divisive person, self-condemned
Review routing: Native speaker review

Paul’s prescribed two-step pastoral process (warn, then withdraw fellowship) must be rendered so as to describe a relational/pastoral corrective process, not a punitive or excommunication-style procedure disproportionate to the text’s actual instruction.
