Core Glossary
08 Core Glossary — Philippians (English–Malayalam)
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, across all four chapters of Philippians, with proposed Malayalam renderings and risk tiers. Terms marked [BASELINE] are already recorded in the Romans-curriculum translation_memory.json / bible_term_registry.json and MUST be reused exactly as recorded there — no alternative rendering is proposed. Terms marked [NEW] are proposed here for the first time in this curriculum and should be added to translation memory in Phase 1 Step 2.
Risk tiers follow the baseline’s definitions exactly:
- Critical — mistranslation destroys essential doctrine; human theologian review required for every occurrence.
- High — mistranslation risks significant theological confusion or syncretism; human theologian review required.
- Medium — mistranslation reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning; native speaker review recommended.
- Low — minor imprecision risk; automated review sufficient.
Chapter 1
| English Term | Greek (Transliteration) | Malayalam Rendering | Status | Doctrine | Risk | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Servant/bond-servant | δοῦλος (doulos) | ദാസന് | NEW | Christian Identity / Ministry | High | Shared vocabulary with Hindu bhakti devotee self-identification (“dasa” of a deity); direction of meaning (self-owned by Christ) must stay explicit. |
| Overseer | ἐπίσκοπος (episkopos) | മേല്വിചാരകന് | NEW | Church Leadership | High | Denominational ecclesiology (Catholic/Orthodox bishop office vs. Protestant overseer/elder) diverges sharply; used generically here. |
| Deacon | διάκονος (diakonos) | ശുശ്രൂഷകന് | NEW | Church Leadership | Medium | Lower risk than ἐπίσκοπος; “servant/minister” is less institutionally contested. |
| Partnership in the gospel | κοινωνία εἰς τὸ εὐαγγέλιον | കൂട്ടായ്മ | BASELINE (term) / NEW (doctrinal sense) | Partnership in the Gospel | High | Baseline term reused exactly; elevated risk here because this specific missional/financial partnership sense is a named curriculum doctrine, distinct from general fellowship (baseline Low tier). |
| Joy / rejoice | χαρά / χαίρω (chara/chairō) | സന്തോഷം / സന്തോഷിക്കുക | NEW | Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment | Medium | Preferred over ആനന്ദം (Advaita-Vedanta “bliss” associations); must be shown as joy amid suffering, not dependent on circumstance. |
| Fruit of righteousness | δικαιοσύνης καρπόν | നീതി + ഫലം | BASELINE (നീതി) / NEW (ഫലം) | Salvation; Righteousness by Faith | High | Compounds baseline righteousness risk with ഫലം’s karma-phala collision (see ch. 4 entry). |
| Bonds/chains | δεσμά (desma) | ബന്ധനങ്ങള് | NEW | Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment | Low | Literal and figurative imprisonment; low ambiguity. |
| Gain | κέρδος (kerdos) | ലാഭം | NEW | Contentment in All Circumstances | Low | Commercial-flavored word; contrast with the passage’s countercultural point should be taught. |
| Striving together | συναγωνιζόμενοι | ഒന്നിച്ചു പോരാടുക | NEW | Unity and Humility in the Church | Low | Athletic/military metaphor for united gospel effort. |
| Citizenship conduct (verb) | πολιτεύεσθε (politeuesthe) | പൌരജീവിതം നടത്തുക | NEW | Citizenship in Heaven | Medium | First occurrence; full risk detail at 3:20 (πολίτευμα). |

| Empty conceit/vainglory | κενοδοξία (kenodoxia) | വൃഥാഭിമാനം | NEW | Unity and Humility | Medium | Shares κενο- root with κενόω (v.7); wordplay lost in Malayalam, note required. |

| Emptied himself | ἐκένωσεν / κενόω (kenoō) | താന് ഒഴിവായി | NEW | Incarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis) | Critical | HIGHEST-STAKES TERM in curriculum. Must not imply Christ ceased being divine (kenotic heresy) nor be softened to mere condescension. |
| Form of a servant | μορφὴν δούλου (morphēn doulou) | ദാസരൂപം | NEW | Incarnation (Kenosis) | High | Same ദാസ collision as ch.1 δοῦλος entry; direction here is God-taking-servant-form, not devotee-self-abasement. |
| Likeness of men | ὁμοίωμα ἀνθρώπων (homoiōma anthrōpōn) | മനുഷ്യസാദൃശ്യം | NEW | Incarnation; Humanity of Christ | Critical | Genuine, full humanity — never an avatar-style temporary appearance. FORBIDDEN: never framed with അവതാരം-adjacent vocabulary. |

| Death of the cross | θάνατος σταυροῦ | ക്രൂശിലെ മരണത്തോളം | NEW (ക്രൂശ് established) | Incarnation; Joy in Suffering | High | Shame/scandal dimension of crucifixion must not be smoothed over. |

| Graciously gave | ἐχαρίσατο (echarisato) | കൃപയോടെ നല്കി | NEW (root BASELINE: grace/കൃപ) | Grace | Medium | Gift, not grasping — echoes v.6’s ἁρπαγμός contrast. |
| Every knee shall bow | πᾶν γόνυ κάμψῃ | എല്ലാ മുട്ടും മുട്ടുകുത്തും | NEW | Deity/Lordship of Christ | Medium | Echoes Isaiah 45:23 (worship due to YHWH alone); intertextual note recommended. |

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Work out [salvation] | κατεργάζεσθε (katergazesthe) | പ്രാവര്ത്തികമാക്കുവിന് | NEW | Sanctification, not Justification | High | Must be clearly sanctification-in-practice, not works-based justification; direct tension with baseline Critical justification doctrine if decontextualized. |

| Poured out / sacrifice / service | σπένδομαι / θυσία / λειτουργία | പാനീയബലിയായി ഒഴിക്കപ്പെടുക / ബലി / ശുശ്രൂഷ | NEW | Joy in Suffering | High | ബലി shares vocabulary with Hindu ritual sacrifice; established but requires context that this is metaphorical self-giving. |
| Messenger (non-apostolic sense) | ἀπόστολον ὑμῶν | ദൂതന് (recommended over reusing അപ്പോസ്തലന് unqualified) | BASELINE term exists but context-flagged | Apostleship (contrast) | Medium | Avoid conflating Epaphroditus with the technical apostolic office. |
| Fellow soldier | συστρατιώτης (systratiōtēs) | സഹസൈനികന് | NEW | Partnership in the Gospel | Low | — |
Chapter 3
| English Term | Greek (Transliteration) | Malayalam Rendering | Status | Doctrine | Risk | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Circumcision | περιτομή (peritomē) | പരിച്ഛേദന | NEW (established Bible term) | Righteousness by Faith vs. Law | Medium | Marker of the “confidence in the flesh” Paul repudiates. |
| Flesh | σάρξ (sarx) | ജഡം | BASELINE-adjacent (established NT usage) | Righteousness by Faith vs. Law | High | Human self-reliant status/effort, not a Gnostic condemnation of the body nor an ascetic-renunciation ideal. |
| Boasting | καύχημα (kauchēma) | പ്രശംസ | NEW | Righteousness by Faith vs. Law | Medium | Must read as a repudiated, not affirmed, boast. |
| Pharisee | Φαρισαῖος (Pharisaios) | ഫരീശ്യന് | NEW (established Gospel-tradition term) | — | Low | Proper-name-class term. |
| Zeal | ζῆλος (zēlos) | തീക്ഷ്ണത | NEW | Righteousness by Faith vs. Law | Medium | Paul’s pre-conversion zeal is repudiated, not commended, here. |
| Righteousness from Law / through faith | δικαιοσύνη ἐκ νόμου / διὰ πίστεως Χριστοῦ | നീതി / ന്യായപ്രമാണം / വിശ്വാസം | BASELINE — EXACT | Righteousness by Faith versus the Law | Critical | Zero-deviation reuse of baseline Romans terms and forbidden-substitution rules (never ധര്മ്മം). |
| Knowledge [of Christ] | γνῶσις (gnōsis) | പരിജ്ഞാനം / അറിവ് | NEW | Righteousness by Faith | Medium | Relational knowing, not esoteric/secret knowledge. |
| Rubbish/dung | σκύβαλα (skybala) | ചവറ് | NEW (established, softened) | Righteousness by Faith | Medium | Established rendering softens the crude force of the Greek; note the loss. |
| Fellowship of his sufferings / conformed | κοινωνία τῶν παθημάτων / σύμμορφος | കൂട്ടായ്മ + കഷ്ടാനുഭവങ്ങള് / അനുരൂപനാകുക | BASELINE (κൂട്ടായ്മ) / NEW | Joy in Suffering; Incarnation | High | Literary link to μορφή-family words in 2:6-7 and 3:21 should be taught explicitly. |
| Press on / goal / prize / mature / stretch forward | διώκω / σκοπός / βραβεῖον / τέλειος / ἐπεκτείνομαι | പിന്തുടരുക / ലാക്ക് / സമ്മാനം / പൂര്ണ്ണന് / മുമ്പോട്ടു നീണ്ടു ചെല്ലുക | NEW | Pressing on toward the Goal in Christ | Medium (βραβεῖον: High; τέλειος: Medium) | βραβεῖον risks a merit-earned-reward misreading against 3:9’s righteousness-by-faith; τέλειος must not mean sinless perfection. |
| Citizenship | πολίτευμα / πολιτεύεσθε | പൌരത്വം / പൌരജീവിതം നടത്തുക | NEW | Citizenship in Heaven | High | Contemporary Indian citizenship-law/political salience; must not be misread as commentary on earthly national citizenship. |
| Savior | σωτήρ (sōtēr) | രക്ഷകന് | BASELINE — REUSE ROOT (രക്ഷ) | Salvation | High | Inherits baseline’s High “Salvation” risk; watch AI drift toward മോക്ഷം/മുക്തി-adjacent vocabulary. |
| Will transform | μετασχηματίζω (metaschēmatizei) | രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടുത്തും | NEW | Resurrection | High | Must not suggest reincarnation/rebirth-into-new-body; one-time bodily transformation, consistent with baseline’s Critical resurrection rule. |
Chapter 4
| English Term | Greek (Transliteration) | Malayalam Rendering | Status | Doctrine | Risk | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peace | εἰρήνη (eirēnē) | സമാധാനം | BASELINE — EXACT | Peace with God (adjacent) | Low | — |

| Mind | νοῦς (nous) | മനസ്സ് | NEW | — | Low | — |
| Content/self-sufficient | αὐτάρκης (autarkēs) | തൃപ്തി | NEW | Contentment in All Circumstances | Medium | Must be read with 4:13 (strengthened by Christ), not as self-generated Stoic virtue or non-attachment ideal achieved by one’s own discipline. |
| ”I have learned the secret” | μεμύημαι (memyēmai) | ഞാന് പഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു | NEW | Contentment in All Circumstances | High | FORBIDDEN SUBSTITUTION: never ദീക്ഷ (diksha, guru-initiation); plain “learned” avoids esoteric-initiation framework. |
| The one who strengthens [me] | ἐνδυναμοῦντι (endynamounti) | എന്നെ ശക്തനാക്കുന്നവന് | BASELINE — REUSE ROOT (ശക്തി) | Contentment; Power of God | Medium | Personal, Christ-sourced strengthening, not an impersonal force. |
| Fruit [of giving] | καρπός (karpos) | ഫലം | NEW (established Bible term) | Partnership in the Gospel | High | Shares vocabulary with Hindu karma-phala (“fruit of action”); must read as relational blessing from grace-motivated generosity, not accruing impersonal merit. |
| Sacrifice, well-pleasing | θυσία … εὐάρεστος | ബലി … സ്വീകാര്യമായ | NEW | Partnership in the Gospel | High | AVOID പ്രസാദകരമായ (from പ്രസാദം/prasadam — Hindu deity-favor/offering-food term); use സ്വീകാര്യമായ instead. |
| Fragrant aroma | ὀσμὴ εὐωδίας (osmē euōdias) | സൌരഭ്യവാസന | NEW | Partnership in the Gospel | Low | OT sacrificial imagery; established, low ambiguity. |

This glossary must be reconciled with translation_memory.json in Phase 1 Step 2 (Terminology Extraction), adding all [NEW] terms with the fields and risk tiers proposed here, and cross-checked against bible_term_registry.json and doctrine_risk_registry.json for consistency with the established Romans baseline conventions.
Critical Risk Terms
Righteousness
Approved rendering: നീതി
Transliteration: neethi
Doctrine: Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Rejected alternatives: ധര്മ്മം
Original: δικαιοσύνη
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package (exact Malayalam reuse: നീതി). Risk tier ELEVATED from the Romans baseline TM’s High to Critical for this curriculum, matching the Phil-specific bible_term_registry.json and doctrine_risk_registry.json, because Philippians 3:9 is Paul’s clearest personal-testimony parallel to Romans’ central righteousness-by-faith argument. NEVER ധര്മ്മം.
Lord
Approved rendering: കര്ത്താവ്
Transliteration: karthavu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Climactic title of the Christ-hymn confession (2:11) and used repeatedly elsewhere (1:14, 2:19, 2:24, 3:8, 4:1-5).
Jesus
Approved rendering: യേശു
Transliteration: yeshu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). ഈശോ remains a legitimate heritage alternative but is not used in this curriculum’s Bible-study register.
Messiah
Approved rendering: ക്രിസ്തു
Transliteration: kristu
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Used constantly throughout Philippians (‘to live is Christ,’ 1:21; ‘in Christ Jesus,’ 2:5; 3:8-9). മിശിഹാ remains a legitimate liturgical alternative; ക്രിസ്തു required for this register.
God
Approved rendering: ദൈവം
Transliteration: daivam
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ഭഗവാന്
Original: θεός
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Addressed throughout Philippians (1:2, 2:6, 2:9, 2:13, 4:19-20).
Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ്
Transliteration: parishudhathmavu
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Rejected alternatives: ബ്രഹ്മം, പരമാത്മാവ്
Original: πνεῦμα
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Named as the ground of Christian unity (‘fellowship of the Spirit,’ 2:1) and worship (3:3). Never ബ്രഹ്മം or പരമാത്മാവ്.
Father
Approved rendering: പിതാവ്
Transliteration: pithavu
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: πατήρ
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Terminus of the Christ-hymn’s confession (‘to the glory of God the Father,’ 2:11) and greeting/closing formula (1:2, 4:20).
Resurrection
Approved rendering: ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേല്പ്പ്
Transliteration: uyirthezhunnelppu
Doctrine: Resurrection and Bodily Transformation
Rejected alternatives: പുനര്ജന്മം
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). ‘Power of his resurrection’ (3:10) and the ground of hope behind μετασχηματίζω (3:21). NEVER പുനര്ജന്മം (reincarnation).
Incarnation
Approved rendering: മാംസധാരണം
Transliteration: mamsadharanam
Doctrine: Incarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis)
Rejected alternatives: അവതാരം
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Umbrella term for the doctrinal event carried in Philippians by the phrase-chain in 2:6-8 (ദൈവരൂപം → താന് ഒഴിവായി → ദാസരൂപം → മനുഷ്യസാദൃശ്യം). NEVER അവതാരം — the risk of AI drift toward this term is materially HIGHER here than in Romans, because 2:6-8’s own content (form-taking, self-emptying, human likeness) is structurally the closest NT passage to avatar-narrative grammar.
Imputed Righteousness
Approved rendering: ആരോപിതനീതി
Transliteration: aropithaneethi
Doctrine: Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Rejected alternatives: സമ്പാദിച്ച നീതി
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Theological backdrop to Philippians 3:9’s forensic righteousness ‘through faith in Christ,’ distinct from earned righteousness (സമ്പാദിച്ച നീതി, explicitly rejected).
Form Of God
Approved rendering: ദൈവരൂപം
Transliteration: daivaroopam
Doctrine: Incarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis)
Rejected alternatives: അവതാരം
Original: μορφή θεοῦ
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians. Christ’s pre-incarnate possession of the essential nature/glory of God (2:6). Must unambiguously affirm pre-existent, co-equal deity, never a temporary divine manifestation. Direct doctrinal link to the baseline’s forbidden-substitution rule (never അവതാരം).
Equal With God
Approved rendering: ദൈവത്തോടു സമം
Transliteration: daivathodu samam
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: ἴσα θεῷ
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians. Full ontological equality with God (2:6). Never softened to ‘God-like’ in a lesser-being sense.
Emptied Himself
Approved rendering: താന് ഒഴിവായി
Transliteration: thaan ozhivayi
Doctrine: Incarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis)
Original: ἐκένωσεν / κενόω
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians. SINGLE HIGHEST-STAKES TERM IN THIS CURRICULUM. Christ’s voluntary self-emptying of the outward privileges/glory-display of deity, taking on genuine human/servant nature, while remaining fully God (2:7). Must avoid TWO opposite errors: (1) implying Christ ceased to be divine (kenotic-heresy misreading), (2) softening to mere ‘condescension’ losing the radical, voluntary self-divestment. Mandatory teaching note distinguishing ‘emptied of glory/privilege’ from ‘emptied of deity’ on every occurrence.
Likeness Of Men
Approved rendering: മനുഷ്യസാദൃശ്യം
Transliteration: manushya sadrushyam
Doctrine: Humanity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: അവതാരം
Original: ὁμοίωμα ἀνθρώπων
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians. Christ’s real, genuine humanity (2:7), not an illusion or temporary appearance. Must be read alongside the incarnation forbidden-substitution rule: this affirms Christ genuinely, fully became human — unlike Hindu avatar theology’s temporary, repeatable appearance. Highest single-term exposure to an avatar-style misreading in the letter.
Lord Jesus Christ Confession
Approved rendering: യേശുക്രിസ്തു കര്ത്താവ് ആകുന്നു
Transliteration: yeshukristu karthavu akunnu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Original: κύριος Ἰησοῦς Χριστός
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians, but MUST MATCH the Romans baseline’s 10:9 confession pattern (യേശു കര്ത്താവാകുന്നു) with zero softening or qualification, per the baseline’s non-negotiable cross-document Theological Consistency Rules. Philippians 2:11 is the identical confessional formula and salvation-confession claim.
Righteousness From Law Through Faith
Approved rendering: നീതി / ന്യായപ്രമാണം / വിശ്വാസം
Transliteration: neethi / nyayapramanam / vishwasam
Doctrine: Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Rejected alternatives: ധര്മ്മം
Original: δικαιοσύνη ἐκ νόμου / διὰ πίστεως Χριστοῦ
Category: Salvation
NEW compound instance of baseline terms. Philippians 3:9’s direct parallel to Romans 3-4. Zero-deviation reuse of baseline terms and forbidden-substitution rule (never ധര്മ്മം) required. Must read as total renunciation of Paul’s own Law-based, pedigree-based standing, not modest self-deprecation.
High Risk Terms
Gospel
Approved rendering: സുവിശേഷം
Transliteration: suvisesham
Doctrine: Gospel Advancing through Suffering
Original: εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Occurs throughout Philippians (1:5, 1:7, 1:12, 1:16, 1:27, 2:22, 4:3, 4:15). Risk retained at the Phil-specific registry’s High tier because the doctrinal point that opposition/imprisonment become the very means of gospel advance must not be smoothed into generic positivity.
Grace
Approved rendering: കൃപ
Transliteration: krupa
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: പുണ്യം
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Philippians 2:9’s ἐχαρίσατο (‘graciously gave’ the exalted name to Christ) shares this root; render the verb as കൃപയോടെ നല്കി so the gift-vs-grasping contrast with ἁρπαγμός (2:6) stays legible. Guard against bhakti-devotion framing (grace as reward for devotee merit).
Salvation
Approved rendering: രക്ഷ
Transliteration: raksha
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: മോക്ഷം, മുക്തി
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Object of the believer’s ‘working out’ in visible practice (1:19, 1:28, 2:12) though secured entirely by God’s prior work (2:13). Never മോക്ഷം/മുക്തി.
Saints
Approved rendering: വിശുദ്ധര്
Transliteration: vishudhar
Doctrine: Fellowship and Church Community
Original: ἅγιοι
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). INVERTED RISK per baseline: Philippians 1:1 addresses the entire ordinary congregation (‘to all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi’) and 4:21-22 the closing greeting. Translator notes must widen, not narrow, the expected referent away from Kerala’s canonization-flavored default sense.
Sanctification
Approved rendering: വിശുദ്ധീകരണം
Transliteration: vishudheekaranam
Doctrine: Sanctification and Working Out Salvation
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Risk ELEVATED from the Romans baseline’s Medium to High for this curriculum per the Phil-specific doctrine_risk_registry.json, because Philippians 2:12-13’s κατεργάζεσθε (‘work out … salvation’) sits directly beside the baseline’s Critical justification/imputed-righteousness forbidden-substitution zone if read without its v.13 qualifier.
Servant Bondservant
Approved rendering: ദാസന്
Transliteration: dasan
Doctrine: Obedience and Servanthood
Original: δοῦλος
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. Paul and Timothy’s self-designation (1:1). Shared vocabulary with Kerala’s Hindu bhakti tradition, where a devotee self-identifies as ‘dasa’ of a deity (e.g. personal names like Krishnadas). Direction here (owned/commissioned by Christ) is directionally similar to bhakti usage, lowering risk relative to the reverse-direction use at 2:7 (form_of_a_servant), but must still be anchored to Christ’s specific ownership and gospel commission, not generic pious self-abasement.
Overseer
Approved rendering: മേല്വിചാരകന്
Transliteration: melvicharakan
Doctrine: Church Leadership and Ministry Offices
Original: ἐπίσκοπος
Category: Church
NEW — Philippians. Local church leadership office named alongside deacons (1:1), the earliest extant NT letter to explicitly greet named church officers this way. Catholic/Orthodox traditions hold a formal episcopal (bishop) office with sacramental authority; Protestant/Evangelical usage lacks that sacramental weight. Used generically here; do not adjudicate later church-polity developments.
Partnership In The Gospel
Approved rendering: കൂട്ടായ്മ
Transliteration: koottayma
Doctrine: Partnership in the Gospel
Original: κοινωνία εἰς τὸ εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Church
NEW sense of a baseline term. The Philippians’ active material and spiritual partnership with Paul’s gospel mission — financial support, prayer, shared suffering (1:5, 4:15). Elevated above the baseline’s general Low ‘Christian Fellowship’ tier because this named curriculum doctrine carries concrete monetary/missional stakes absent from generic congregational fellowship.
Fruit Of Righteousness
Approved rendering: നീതി + ഫലം
Transliteration: neethi + phalam
Doctrine: Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Original: δικαιοσύνης καρπόν
Category: Salvation
NEW — Philippians. Visible moral fruit flowing FROM (not earning) righteous standing (1:11). Compounds the Critical righteousness collision with ഫലം’s karma-phala collision (see fruit_of_giving). Must read as fruit that FLOWS FROM an already-given righteous standing, not fruit that GENERATES it.
Citizenship
Approved rendering: പൌരത്വം / പൌരജീവിതം നടത്തുക
Transliteration: pauratvam / pauravijeevitham nadathuka
Doctrine: Citizenship in Heaven
Original: πολίτευμα / πολιτεύεσθε
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. ‘Our citizenship is in heaven’ (3:20); verb form at 1:27. പൌരത്വം is a live, highly salient contemporary Indian political-legal term; must not be read as commentary on Indian national citizenship, dual loyalty, or citizenship-law controversies. Always pair with a ‘heavenly’ qualifier (സ്വര്ഗ്ഗീയ) in the same clause.
Humility
Approved rendering: താഴ്മ
Transliteration: thazhma
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Original: ταπεινοφροσύνη / ταπεινόω
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. Humble-mindedness as a chosen virtue (2:3), mirroring Christ’s own voluntary self-humbling (2:8). Kerala’s caste-linked social history (documented in the Romans baseline’s Syrian-Christian/Dalit-convert stratification notes) means this can carry unwanted echoes of enforced low status rather than a voluntary, strength-based virtue. Must always be anchored to Christ’s prior-possessed equality with God (2:6).
In Christ Jesus
Approved rendering: ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവില്
Transliteration: christuyeshuvil
Doctrine: Christian Identity in Christ
Original: ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ
Category: Salvation
NEW rendering of a baseline concept. Union with Christ as the ground of the mindset commanded in 2:1-4, grounded Christologically in 2:5. Consistency with the Romans baseline’s ‘Christian Identity in Christ’ doctrine handling required.
Thing To Be Grasped
Approved rendering: ദൈവത്തോടു സമമായിരിക്കുന്നത് മുതലായി ഗണിക്കാതെ
Transliteration: daivathodu samamayirikkunnathu muthalayi ganikkathe
Doctrine: Incarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis)
Original: ἁρπαγμός
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians. ἁρπαγμός (2:6): a prize to be forcibly grasped/exploited. Must be worded so readers understand Christ ALREADY possessed equality with God and voluntarily declined to exploit it — logical order is doctrinally load-bearing. Retain this full phrase; do not shorten.
Form Of A Servant
Approved rendering: ദാസരൂപം
Transliteration: dasaroopam
Doctrine: Incarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis)
Original: μορφὴν δούλου
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians. The essential nature/condition of a slave, deliberately parallel and contrasted with μορφή θεοῦ (2:7). Same ദാസ collision as servant_bondservant, but direction here is God taking servant-form FOR others, not a devotee’s self-abasement — this distinction must be preserved in surrounding text/notes.
Humbled Himself
Approved rendering: തന്നെത്താന് താഴ്ത്തി
Transliteration: thannethaan thazhthi
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Original: ἐταπείνωσεν ἑαυτόν
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians. Christ’s voluntary, active self-humbling (2:8), the model for ταπεινοφροσύνη in v.3. Same caste-adjacent risk profile as humility; modeled here by God himself, the strongest possible rebuttal to a status-based reading.
Death Of The Cross
Approved rendering: ക്രൂശിലെ മരണത്തോളം
Transliteration: krooshile maranathollam
Doctrine: Incarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis)
Original: θάνατος σταυροῦ
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians (ക്രൂശ് is an established Malayalam Bible term for ‘cross’). The climactic depth of Christ’s humiliation — the most shameful, criminal Roman execution (2:8). The shame/scandal dimension must not be smoothed into a generic noble death.
Work Out Salvation
Approved rendering: പ്രാവര്ത്തികമാക്കുവിന്
Transliteration: praavarthikamakkuvin
Doctrine: Sanctification and Working Out Salvation
Original: κατεργάζεσθε
Category: Sanctification
NEW — Philippians. Working out, in visible practice, salvation God has already given, since ‘it is God who works in you’ (2:12-13). Pairs uneasily with the baseline’s Critical Justification/Imputed Righteousness doctrines if read out of context. MUST be paired with the v.13 qualifier in any teaching unit.
Poured Out Sacrifice Service
Approved rendering: പാനീയബലിയായി ഒഴിക്കപ്പെടുക / ബലി / ശുശ്രൂഷ
Transliteration: paaneeya-baliyaayi ozhikkappeduka / bali / shushrusha
Doctrine: Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment
Original: σπένδομαι / θυσία / λειτουργία
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. Paul’s own possible martyrdom framed as a sacrificial libation completing the Philippians’ faith-‘sacrifice’ (2:17). ബലി is established, unavoidable Malayalam Bible vocabulary for OT/NT sacrificial imagery but shared with Hindu ritual sacrifice/temple offering. Every occurrence must keep clear this is metaphorical self-giving in Christian service, not a repeated ritual act appeasing a deity.
Flesh
Approved rendering: ജഡം
Transliteration: jadam
Doctrine: Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Original: σάρξ
Category: Covenant
NEW — Philippians (established NT Malayalam usage). Human effort, pedigree, and status opposed to reliance on grace (3:3-4). Must be read as ‘human self-reliant effort/status,’ not a Gnostic condemnation of the physical body nor conflated with ascetic-renunciation ideals.
Fellowship Of Sufferings Conformed
Approved rendering: കൂട്ടായ്മ + കഷ്ടാനുഭവങ്ങള് / അനുരൂപനാകുക
Transliteration: koottayma + kashtaanubhavangal / anuroopanaakuka
Doctrine: Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment
Original: κοινωνία τῶν παθημάτων αὐτοῦ / σύμμορφος
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. Sharing experientially in Christ’s sufferings as the path toward sharing his resurrection (3:10). Preserve the literary link to the μορφή-family words in 2:6-7 and 3:21 in teaching notes, even though Malayalam has no single shared root to carry it automatically.
Press On Goal Prize
Approved rendering: പിന്തുടരുക / ലാക്ക് / സമ്മാനം / പൂര്ണ്ണന് / മുമ്പോട്ടു നീണ്ടു ചെല്ലുക
Transliteration: pinthudaruka / laakku / sammanam / poornnan / mumpottu neendu chelluka
Doctrine: Pressing on toward the Goal in Christ
Original: διώκω / σκοπός / βραβεῖον / τέλειος / ἐπεκτείνομαι
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. The athletic-race metaphor (3:12-15). സമ്മാനം (‘prize’) risks a merit-earned-reward misreading against 3:9’s righteousness-by-faith statement three verses earlier — hold in tension, not contradiction. പൂര്ണ്ണന് (‘mature’) must not mean sinless perfection, since Paul denies having ‘already attained’ in the same breath.
Will Transform
Approved rendering: രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടുത്തും
Transliteration: roopaantharappeduthum
Doctrine: Resurrection and Bodily Transformation
Rejected alternatives: പുനര്ജന്മം
Original: μετασχηματίζω
Category: Eschatology
NEW — Philippians. The resurrection-body transformation awaiting believers (3:21), paralleling and reversing Christ’s own σχῆμα in 2:8. Must be clearly distinguished from reincarnation/rebirth-into-new-body; this is a one-time transformation of the SAME body at Christ’s return.
I Have Learned The Secret
Approved rendering: ഞാന് പഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു
Transliteration: njaan padhichirikkunnu
Doctrine: Contentment in All Circumstances
Rejected alternatives: ദീക്ഷ
Original: μεμύημαι
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. FORBIDDEN SUBSTITUTION: never ദീക്ഷ (diksha, formal guru-disciple/esoteric-tantric initiation). Paul deliberately repurposes Greco-Roman mystery-initiation vocabulary (μεμύημαι, 4:12) for ordinary Christian experiential learning, available to every believer without a hierarchical initiation rite. Plain ‘learned’ is the deliberate, correct resolution.
Fruit Of Giving
Approved rendering: ഫലം
Transliteration: phalam
Doctrine: Partnership in the Gospel
Original: καρπός
Category: Church
NEW — Philippians (established Bible term). Spiritual ‘profit’ accruing to the Philippians because of their generosity (4:17) — relational, grace-shaped, not a merit ledger. ഫലം is the same word central to Hindu karma-phala theology (‘fruit of action,’ famously discussed in the Bhagavad Gita). Must read as relational blessing flowing FROM grace-motivated generosity, never an impersonal law of cause-and-effect accruing merit toward liberation.
Sacrifice Well Pleasing
Approved rendering: ബലി … സ്വീകാര്യമായ
Transliteration: bali … sweekaryamayam
Doctrine: Partnership in the Gospel
Rejected alternatives: പ്രസാദകരമായ
Original: θυσία … εὐάρεστος
Category: Church
NEW — Philippians. The Philippians’ financial gift described as an acceptable sacrifice (4:18). FORBIDDEN SUBSTITUTION: never പ്രസാദകരമായ (from പ്രസാദം/prasadam, the Hindu term for a deity’s favor and blessed food-offering after puja); would reframe the gift as a ritual transaction securing divine favor. Use സ്വീകാര്യമായ.
Savior
Approved rendering: രക്ഷകന്
Transliteration: rakshakan
Doctrine: Citizenship in Heaven
Rejected alternatives: മോക്ഷദായകന്, മുക്തിദായകന്
Original: σωτήρ
Category: Salvation
NEW rendering of baseline root രക്ഷ. Title for Christ as the one who saves, used in the citizenship passage: ‘we await a Savior’ (3:20). Inherits the baseline’s High Salvation risk; watch specifically for AI drift toward മോക്ഷം/മുക്തി-adjacent vocabulary given the association with heavenly-citizenship expectation language.
Medium Risk Terms
Faith
Approved rendering: വിശ്വാസം
Transliteration: vishwasam
Doctrine: Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Rejected alternatives: ഭക്തി
Original: πίστις
Category: Faith
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Ground of righteousness contrasted with law-keeping (3:9) and substance of the Philippians’ gospel partnership (1:25, 1:27, 2:17). Never ഭക്തി (devotional reverence).
Law
Approved rendering: ന്യായപ്രമാണം
Transliteration: nyayapramanam
Doctrine: Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Rejected alternatives: ധര്മ്മം
Original: νόμος
Category: Covenant
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). The Mosaic Law, the repudiated ground of standing in Phil 3:5-6, 3:9. Never ധര്മ്മം.
Church
Approved rendering: സഭ
Transliteration: sabha
Doctrine: Fellowship and Church Community
Rejected alternatives: അമ്പലം
Original: ἐκκλησία
Category: Church
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Referenced in Paul’s account of financial partnership (‘no church shared with me,’ 4:15). Never അമ്പലം.
Calling
Approved rendering: വിളി
Transliteration: vili
Doctrine: Pressing on toward the Goal in Christ
Original: κλῆσις
Category: Christian Life
Inherited from Romans package (root reuse). Philippians 3:14: ‘the prize of the upward/high calling of God in Christ Jesus’ — the goal-language climax of the athletic metaphor. Must convey a sovereign, gift-like summons, not self-set personal ambition.
Obedience Of Faith
Approved rendering: വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ അനുസരണം
Transliteration: vishwasathinte anusaranam
Doctrine: Obedience and Servanthood
Rejected alternatives: മതപരമായ കടമ
Inherited from Romans package (root reuse). Context in Philippians is Christ’s OWN obedience ‘unto death’ (2:8, ὑπήκοος) — the archetype of the faithful, faith-flowing obedience this baseline doctrine describes, rather than the believer’s obedience as in Romans 1:5.
Power Of God
Approved rendering: ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ശക്തി
Transliteration: daivathinte shakthi
Doctrine: Contentment in All Circumstances
Inherited from Romans package (root reuse). Undergirds ἐνδυναμοῦντι (4:13, ‘the one who strengthens me’) — must remain personal, Christ-sourced strengthening, not an impersonal force. ശക്തി is comparatively low-risk in Malayalam’s everyday register (see baseline notes).
Glory
Approved rendering: മഹത്വം
Transliteration: mahatvam
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). ‘Glory of God the Father’ terminates the Christ-hymn’s confession (2:11); also 1:11, 4:19-20.
Deacon
Approved rendering: ശുശ്രൂഷകന്
Transliteration: shushrushakan
Doctrine: Church Leadership and Ministry Offices
Original: διάκονος
Category: Church
NEW — Philippians. Recognized serving office named alongside overseers (1:1). Lower risk than ἐπίσκοπος since ‘servant/minister’ is a broader, less institutionally contested term across Malayalam denominations.
Joy
Approved rendering: സന്തോഷം
Transliteration: santhosham
Doctrine: Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment
Rejected alternatives: ആനന്ദം
Original: χαρά / χαίρω
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians (verb form ചൈരō too: സന്തോഷിക്കുക). Gladness located specifically within Paul’s imprisonment and suffering (1:4, 1:18, 1:25, 2:2, 4:4). NEVER ആനന്ദം, which carries strong Advaita Vedanta sat-chit-ananda (bliss-of-Brahman) associations. Must be shown as joy sustained IN suffering, not dependent on its absence.
Encouragement In Christ
Approved rendering: ആശ്വാസം
Transliteration: ashwasam
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Original: παράκλησις
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. Comfort/encouragement believers have because they are ‘in Christ’ (2:1), opening Paul’s appeal to unity. Must retain ‘in Christ’ as the explicit source.
Fellowship Of The Spirit
Approved rendering: കൂട്ടായ്മ (പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിന്റെ)
Transliteration: koottayma (parishudhathmavinte)
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Original: κοινωνία πνεύματος
Category: Church
NEW sense of a baseline term. Shared life produced by the Holy Spirit indwelling all believers, the ground (not merely the tone) of the unity appeal (2:1). Must not be flattened into generic congregational friendliness.
Mindset
Approved rendering: മനഃസ്ഥിതി
Transliteration: manasthithi
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Original: φρονέω
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. Shared value-disposition, not mere opinion-agreement, modeled on Christ’s own disposition (2:2, 2:5). Must be rendered IDENTICALLY at 2:2 and 2:5 to preserve the literary hinge linking the ethical appeal to the Christ hymn.
Empty Conceit
Approved rendering: വൃഥാഭിമാനം
Transliteration: vrithabhimanam
Doctrine: Unity and Humility in the Church
Original: κενοδοξία
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. Vainglory, empty pride (2:3); deliberate Greek wordplay with κενόω (v.7) is structurally unrecoverable in Malayalam (no shared root); restore the literary link via translator’s note.
Existing Being
Approved rendering: ആയിരിക്കെ
Transliteration: ayirikke
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: ὑπάρχων
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians. Continuous existence/being; signals Christ’s ongoing, real pre-existence in divine form (2:6). Must not read as a momentary or occasional state.
Outward Form
Approved rendering: ആകാരത്തില്
Transliteration: akarathil
Doctrine: Humanity of Christ
Original: σχῆμα
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians. σχῆμα (2:8): the outward, observable shape/manner Christ presented to onlookers, distinct from μορφή’s essential-nature sense. Must not imply Christ’s humanity was merely apparent — teaching notes should distinguish it from μορφή (vv.6-7).
Obedient
Approved rendering: അനുസരണമുള്ളവനായി
Transliteration: anusaranamullavanayi
Doctrine: Obedience and Servanthood
Original: ὑπήκοος
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians (drawing on baseline root അനുസരണം). Christ’s own obedience to the Father, extending to death (2:8).
Highly Exalted
Approved rendering: അത്യധികം ഉയര്ത്തി
Transliteration: athyadhikam uyarthi
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Original: ὑπερύψωσεν
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians. God’s response to Christ’s self-humbling — an intensified double-compound found only here in the NT (2:9). The intensifying force should be retained, not reduced to a simple ‘exalted.‘
Every Knee Shall Bow
Approved rendering: എല്ലാ മുട്ടും മുട്ടുകുത്തും
Transliteration: ella muttum muttukuthum
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: πᾶν γόνυ κάμψῃ
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians. Universal, compulsory homage to Christ’s exalted name (2:10), echoing Isaiah 45:23 (originally about YHWH alone). Load-bearing intertextual point for the deity-of-Christ doctrine; flag in study notes.
Confess
Approved rendering: ഏറ്റുപറയും
Transliteration: ettuparayum
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Original: ἐξομολογήσηται
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians. Public, verbal acknowledgment of Christ’s Lordship, universal in scope (2:11).
Glory Of God The Father
Approved rendering: മഹത്വം (പിതാവിന്റെ)
Transliteration: mahatvam (pithavinte)
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: δόξαν θεοῦ πατρός
Category: God
NEW rendering of baseline components (മഹത്വം, പിതാവ്). The hymn’s ultimate purpose — Christ’s exaltation terminates in glorifying the Father (2:11), showing the hymn’s Trinitarian, non-competitive structure.
Fear And Trembling
Approved rendering: ഭയത്തോടും വിറയലോടും
Transliteration: bhayathodum virayalodum
Doctrine: Sanctification and Working Out Salvation
Original: φόβος καὶ τρόμος
Category: Sanctification
NEW — Philippians. Reverent awe/seriousness appropriate to the Christian life, not anxious dread (2:12). Must be distinguished from μέριμνα/ഉത്കണ്ഠ (ch.4’s anxiety/worry).
Messenger Non Apostolic
Approved rendering: ദൂതന്
Transliteration: dhoothan
Doctrine: Church Leadership and Ministry Offices
Rejected alternatives: അപ്പോസ്തലന് (unqualified)
Original: ἀπόστολος (of Epaphroditus)
Category: Church
NEW — Philippians. Epaphroditus described as ‘your messenger’ — the non-technical, lower-case sense of ἀπόστολος (2:25), NOT the specific apostolic office. Recommend ദൂതന് over an unqualified reuse of the baseline’s അപ്പോസ്തലന് to avoid conflating Epaphroditus with the Twelve/Paul’s apostolic commission.
Circumcision
Approved rendering: പരിച്ഛേദന
Transliteration: parichchhedana
Doctrine: Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Original: περιτομή
Category: Covenant
NEW — Philippians (established Bible term). The physical marker of covenant membership Paul lists among repudiated grounds for confidence (3:5).
Boasting
Approved rendering: പ്രശംസ
Transliteration: prashamsa
Doctrine: Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Original: καύχημα
Category: Covenant
NEW — Philippians. Ground for boasting Paul lists and then repudiates (3:3-4). Must be clearly a REJECTED boast, not affirmed, in context.
Zeal
Approved rendering: തീക്ഷ്ണത
Transliteration: theekshnatha
Doctrine: Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Original: ζῆλος
Category: Covenant
NEW — Philippians. Paul’s pre-conversion intensity of devotion, expressed in persecuting the church (3:6). Context must make clear this zeal was misguided, not virtuous, at the time.
Knowledge Of Christ
Approved rendering: പരിജ്ഞാനം / അറിവ്
Transliteration: parijnanam / arivu
Doctrine: Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Original: γνῶσις
Category: Faith
NEW — Philippians. Personal, relational knowing of Christ, surpassing every other status/achievement (3:8). Must avoid any register suggesting secret/esoteric knowledge reserved for spiritual elites.
Rubbish Dung
Approved rendering: ചവറ്
Transliteration: chavaru
Doctrine: Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Original: σκύβαλα
Category: Faith
NEW — Philippians (established, softened Malayalam rendering). Paul’s shockingly forceful description of everything he once valued, compared to knowing Christ (3:8). Some crude force/shock value of the Greek (which can mean excrement) is lost; flag for supplementary teaching material.
Anxiety
Approved rendering: ഉത്കണ്ഠ
Transliteration: utkandha
Doctrine: Contentment in All Circumstances
Original: μέριμνα
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. Anxious worry to be replaced by prayer with thanksgiving (4:6). Must be distinguished from fear_and_trembling (reverent awe, 2:12).
Content Self Sufficient
Approved rendering: തൃപ്തി
Transliteration: thripthi
Doctrine: Contentment in All Circumstances
Original: αὐτάρκης
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. Contentment regardless of circumstance, a Stoic-resonant term Paul relocates in Christ’s strengthening (4:11-13). Must always be read with 4:13’s ‘through him who strengthens me,’ not conflated with Stoic self-sufficiency or Hindu vairagya achieved through personal discipline.
The One Who Strengthens
Approved rendering: എന്നെ ശക്തനാക്കുന്നവന്
Transliteration: ente shaktanaakkunnavan
Doctrine: Contentment in All Circumstances
Original: ἐνδυναμοῦντι
Category: God
NEW rendering of baseline root ശക്തി. Christ as the personal source of Paul’s ability to do all things, including contentment (4:13). The personal, Christ-sourced sense must remain explicit, not an impersonal force.
Low Risk Terms
Peace
Approved rendering: സമാധാനം
Transliteration: samadhanam
Doctrine: Contentment in All Circumstances
Original: εἰρήνη
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Relational, God-given peace ‘that surpasses understanding’ guarding hearts and minds (4:7) and the peace of the God of peace (4:9).
Apostle
Approved rendering: അപ്പോസ്തലന്
Transliteration: appostalan
Doctrine: Church Leadership and Ministry Offices
Rejected alternatives: ഗുരു
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse), reserved strictly for the technical apostolic office. Philippians 2:25 uses ἀπόστολος of Epaphroditus in a non-technical ‘messenger’ sense — see messenger_non_apostolic entry below; do NOT reuse അപ്പോസ്തലന് unqualified for that verse.
Fellowship
Approved rendering: കൂട്ടായ്മ
Transliteration: koottayma
Doctrine: Fellowship and Church Community
Rejected alternatives: സൗഹൃദം
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse) for the general congregational-fellowship sense (1:1, 4:21-22). Two Philippians-specific senses of this same word ELEVATE beyond this general tier — see partnership_in_the_gospel (High) and fellowship_of_the_spirit (Medium) below.
Thanksgiving
Approved rendering: കൃതജ്ഞത
Transliteration: kruthajnatha
Doctrine: Contentment in All Circumstances
Inherited from Romans package (exact reuse). Philippians 4:6: prayer and petition ‘with thanksgiving’ as the replacement for anxiety.
Bonds Chains
Approved rendering: ബന്ധനങ്ങള്
Transliteration: bandhanangal
Doctrine: Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment
Original: δεσμά
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. Paul’s literal Roman imprisonment (1:7, 1:13-14, 1:17), repeatedly reframed as an occasion for gospel advance.
Gain
Approved rendering: ലാഭം
Transliteration: labham
Doctrine: Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment
Original: κέρδος
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. Death reframed as gain because it means fuller presence with Christ (1:21). Commercial-flavored word; balance against the passage’s countercultural point in teaching notes.
Striving Together
Approved rendering: ഒന്നിച്ചു പോരാടുക
Transliteration: onnichu poradaduka
Doctrine: Gospel Advancing through Suffering
Original: συναγωνιζόμενοι
Category: Christian Life
NEW — Philippians. United athletic/military effort for the gospel amid external pressure (1:27).

Original: σκοπέω
Category: Christian Life

Transliteration: swargathilum bhoomiyilum bhoomikku keezhilum
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Original: ἐπουρανίων καὶ ἐπιγείων καὶ καταχθονίων
Category: Christology
NEW — Philippians. The entire cosmos — heaven, earth, and the realm of the dead — all subject to Christ’s Lordship (2:10). Straightforward, low ambiguity.
Grumbling Disputing
Approved rendering: പിറുപിറുപ്പും വാദപ്രതിവാദവും

Transliteration: saurabhyavaasana
Doctrine: Partnership in the Gospel
