Core Glossary
Core Glossary — 1 Peter — English → Bodo
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing theological term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, covering the entire book of 1 Peter, chapters 1-5. Terms already recorded in the baseline Romans translation_memory.json are marked [Reused — Romans TM] and use the EXACT recorded Bodo rendering; no alternative is proposed for these. New terms required for 1 Peter’s distinctive doctrines are marked [NEW — Provisional] and require confirmation by a Bodo-speaking theologian before Phase 2 deployment, per the same standard the baseline sets for its own provisional compounds.
Risk tiers follow the baseline’s doctrine_risk_registry.json definitions:
- Critical: mistranslation alters or destroys essential doctrine; human theologian review required for every occurrence.
- High: mistranslation creates significant theological confusion or syncretism risk; human theologian review required.
- Medium: mistranslation reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning; native speaker review recommended.
- Low: mistranslation causes minor misunderstanding; automated review sufficient.

Section B — New Terms Required for 1 Peter (Full Detail)
B.1 Living Hope of the Resurrection
| English Term | Original (Greek) | Bodo Rendering | Transliteration | Risk | Occurrences | Rejected Alternatives / Rationale |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Living hope | ἐλπὶς ζῶσα | जिउनाय आशा | jiunai asha | Critical | 1:3 | Rejected: generic आशा alone (loses the “living/active” grounding in Christ’s historical resurrection); must always co-occur with जिउनाय सोलायनाय. Genuine conceptual gap — Bathouism has no eschatological hope-category; Brahma Dharma’s confidence is merit/cycle-based. |
| Born again / regenerated | ἀναγεννάω | फिन जिउनाय होनाय | phin jiunai honai | Critical | 1:3,23 | Rejected absolutely: फिन जोनोम (rebirth/reincarnation, forbidden by baseline for “resurrection,” forbidden here for the identical reason — closer verbal proximity to birth-cycle vocabulary makes this term even more vulnerable to the Brahma Dharma rebirth misreading). |
| Imperishable inheritance | κληρονομία ἄφθαρτος καὶ ἀμίαντος καὶ ἀμάραντος | उत्तराधिकार (अविनाशी, दागा-गैया, गोमानाय-गैया) | uttaradhikar (avinashi, daga-gaiya, gwmanai-gaiya) | High | 1:4; (5:4 crown parallel) | Rejected: leaving अविनाशी unqualified, since it duplicates Hindu-philosophical “imperishable soul” (avinashi atma) vocabulary absorbed into Brahma Dharma teaching; must always be anchored explicitly to “kept in heaven through Christ.” Inheritance itself must be distinguished from Bodo clan (afad) land/lineage inheritance. |
| Guarded by God’s power | φρουρούμενοι δυνάμει θεοῦ | ईश्वरनि सक्तिजों रखा जानाय | Isorni saktijwng rokha janai | High | 1:5 | Rejected: बare “रखा/रैखाथि” without the ईश्वरनि सक्ति anchor, since रैखाथि is explicitly forbidden by the baseline as a stand-alone gloss for salvation (Kherai-pantheon misfortune-protection). |
| Last time / end time | καιρὸς ἔσχατος | सिमान्तनि सम | simantoni som | High | 1:5,20; 4:7,17 | Genuine conceptual gap: linear historical eschatology absent from both Bathou (cyclical/this-worldly ritual life) and Brahma Dharma (absorbed cyclical cosmology) frameworks. |
| Salvation of souls | σωτηρία ψυχῶν | जिउनि फोरायनाय | jiu ni phoraynai | Medium | 1:9 | Rejected: आत्मानि फोरायनाय (आत्मा carries Hindu ātman/soul-transmigration connotation, exactly as the baseline avoids आत्मा for “Holy Spirit”); जिउ preferred for internal consistency with जिउनाय सोलायनाय. |
B.2 Suffering for Righteousness’ Sake
| English Term | Original (Greek) | Bodo Rendering | Transliteration | Risk | Occurrences | Rejected Alternatives / Rationale |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Suffering for righteousness’ sake | πάσχειν διὰ δικαιοσύνην | धार्मिकतानि थाखाय दुख हरनाय | dharmikotani thakhai dukh hornai | High | 3:14; (2:19-20; 4:1,12-19 thematic) | Builds on धार्मिकता [Reused, Critical]; must be taught as suffering that flows from right standing/right living in Christ, never as karmic consequence or ritual-neglect punishment. |
| This is a gracious/commendable thing (before God) | τοῦτο χάρις…πάσχων ἀδίκως | ईश्वरनि सिङाव मोफादांनाय दान…अन्याय जों दुख हरनाय | Isor ni singao mwphwdangnai daan…onnyai jwng dukh hornai | High | 2:19-20 | Uses मोफादांनाय दान in an extended sense (credited commendation); must not be taught as suffering earning merit (echoing the baseline’s grace-vs-works caution). |
| Judge of the living and the dead | κρίναι ζῶντας καὶ νεκρούς | जिउनाय आरो गोथानि फैसला | jiunai aro gwtha ni foisola | High | 4:5 | New term फैसला (judgment); must be personal divine verdict, not impersonal karmic reckoning. |
| Judgment begins at the household of God | κρίμα ἄρχεται ἀπὸ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ | फैसला ईश्वरनि निजि मोन्दिनिफ्राय सुरु जायो | foisola Isor ni niji mwndini-fray suru jayw | High | 4:17 | Must distinguish disciplinary/purifying judgment on the church from final condemning judgment on the disobedient world. |
| The end of all things is at hand | πάντων τὸ τέλος ἤγγικεν | गासै जायखिनि जोबथार सम गोहोमबाय | gasai jaikhini jwbthar som gwhwmboi | Medium | 4:7 | Same eschatological conceptual-gap concern as सिमान्तनि सम above. |
| Blessed (in suffering) | μακάριοι | मंगल मोनगारा | mangal mwngara | Medium | 3:14; 4:14 | Builds on मंगल root shared with “gospel” (मंगल खबर); Beatitude-form blessing, not this-worldly prosperity blessing sought through Bathou/Kherai offerings — flag this distinction explicitly. |
B.3 The Church as a Holy and Royal Priesthood
| English Term | Original (Greek) | Bodo Rendering | Transliteration | Risk | Occurrences | Rejected Alternatives / Rationale |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Holy priesthood | ἱεράτευμα ἅγιον | पबित्र पुरोहितपद | pobitro purohitpod | Critical | 2:5 | Rejected: leaving पुरोहित unqualified by “corporate/all-believers,” since पुरोहित alone risks collision with the deuri/ojha ritual-specialist role and Brahma Dharma’s own reformed priestly leadership; must be taught as held corporately by every believer, no exceptions. |
| Royal priesthood | βασίλειον ἱεράτευμα | राजकीय पबित्र पुरोहितपद | rajkiyo pobitro purohitpod | Critical | 2:9 | Same priesthood risk PLUS collision with the doudini, the specific female medium who alone becomes Bathoubwrai’s vessel during Kherai trance — must be taught that this royal-priestly status belongs to ALL believers without a specialist mediating minority, unlike every comparable indigenous religious-specialist role. |
| Spiritual house / spiritual sacrifices | οἶκος πνευματικός / θυσίας πνευματικάς | आत्मानि मन्दिर / आत्मानि बलि | aatmani mondir / aatmani boli | High | 2:5 | बलि (offering/sacrifice) is the exact word used for reciprocal ritual offerings to Bathoubwrai/Kherai pantheon; must be explicitly taught as praise/obedience offered only through Christ, never a reciprocal exchange for divine favor. |
| Living stone | λίθος ζῶν | जिउनाय हाथोर | jiunai hathwr | High | 2:4-8 | Aniconic Bathou worship (centered on the sijou plant, never an image) makes any embodiment/stone imagery for the divine doctrinally loaded; must be taught as figurative-but-real, not literal image-veneration. |
| Chosen race / chosen people | γένος ἐκλεκτόν | सायखाव जाति | saikhao jati | High | 2:9 | जाति is a live, sensitive ethnic-political category in the Bodoland region; must be taught as trans-ethnic identity in Christ, never assimilated to ethnic-nationalist categories. |
| Holy nation | ἔθνος ἅγιον | पबित्र जाति | pobitro jati | High | 2:9 | Same जाति sensitivity; must be distinguished from Bodoland’s territorial-political conception of nationhood. |
| A people for God’s own possession | λαὸς εἰς περιποίησιν | ईश्वरनि निजनि जाति | Isor ni niji jati | Medium | 2:9 | — |
B.4 Submission to Authority and Christlike Endurance
| English Term | Original (Greek) | Bodo Rendering | Transliteration | Risk | Occurrences | Rejected Alternatives / Rationale |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Submit / be subject to | ὑποτάσσω | अधीन जानाय | adhin janai | High | 2:13,18; 3:1,5; 5:5 | Must be taught as voluntary, Christlike ordering under authority, never coerced subjugation; requires distinct pastoral framing for governmental (2:13), household-servant (2:18), marital (3:1), and generational (5:5) applications — especially marital submission, which must never be used to excuse abuse. |
| Sojourner / exile | πάροικος / παρεπίδημος | पाहुना / परदेसी | pahuna / pordeshi | High | 1:1,17; 2:11 | Foundational identity-term for the whole letter; must be taught as spiritual displacement (belonging to God’s coming kingdom while resident in this present world), sharply distinguished from real contemporary ethnic-territorial displacement/migration experience in the Bodoland Territorial Region. |
| Good conduct / way of life | ἀναστροφή | जिउनि चाल-चलन | jiuni chal-chalon | High | 1:15,18; 2:12; 3:1-2,16 | Must always be tied explicitly to पबित्र (holy), or risks flattening into mere social etiquette/reputation-management rather than Spirit-produced moral transformation. |
| Fear God / honor the king | τὸν θεὸν φοβεῖσθε / τὸν βασιλέα τιμᾶτε | ईश्वरखौ गिबि होनाय / राजाखौ सम्मान होनाय | Isorkhw gibi honai / rajakhw sommaan honai | High | 2:17 | The distinction between “fear” (reserved for God alone) and “honor” (given to human rulers) must be preserved precisely; collapsing it either deifies civil authority or under-honors it. |
| Church elder (office) | πρεσβύτερος | मण्डलीनि प्राचीन | mwndoli ni prachin | Critical | 5:1,5 | See Section B.7 — forbidden-substitution note parallel to “Lord”: never render with बर’ऐ/बुरहा, the honorific titles reserved for Bathoubwrai and the Kherai pantheon of elder-deities. |
B.5 Christ’s Substitutionary Suffering
| English Term | Original (Greek) | Bodo Rendering | Transliteration | Risk | Occurrences | Rejected Alternatives / Rationale |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ransomed / redeemed | λυτρόω | मुल्यजों फोरायनाय | mulyojwng phoraynai | Critical | 1:18 | CRITICAL: sits on the same fault-line the baseline names for “grace” — must not be reheard as a reciprocal do-ut-des exchange (offerings given to Bathoubwrai/Kherai pantheon for protection); Christ himself pays the price, the believer contributes nothing. |
| Precious blood of Christ / lamb without blemish | αἷμα τίμιον…ὡς ἀμνοῦ ἀμώμου καὶ ἀσπίλου Χριστοῦ | मूल्यवान रक्त…निर्दोष मेंढाजों | mulyoban rokto…nirdosh mendhajwng | Critical | 1:19 | Requires explicit Old Testament sacrificial-lamb background teaching; no vicarious sin-bearing sacrifice concept exists in Bathou offering-practice or Brahma Dharma’s reformed ethic. |
| Christ suffered for you, leaving an example | Χριστὸς ἔπαθεν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν…ὑπογραμμόν | मसीहा नोंथांनि थाखाय दुख हरबाय, बिदिन्थि गनांथाय होबाय | Mosia nwngthang ni thakhai dukh horboi, bidinthi gnangthai hoboi | Critical | 2:21 | Both substitutionary (“for you”) and exemplary (“example to follow”) dimensions must be preserved together; collapsing to either alone loses essential doctrine. |
| He bore our sins in his body on the tree | τὰς ἁμαρτίας ἡμῶν αὐτὸς ἀνήνεγκεν ἐν τῷ σώματι αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὸ ξύλον | मसीहा गुदियाव जोबोर गुनाहखौ बोहबाय बांहागारि खुथियाव | Mosia gudiyao jwbwr gunahkhw bwhboi banhagari khuthiyao | Critical | 2:24 | The letter’s central substitutionary-atonement statement; must never be softened to mere moral example or generic suffering-solidarity. |
| By his wounds you have been healed | τῷ μώλωπι αὐτοῦ ἰάθητε | बिनि घाबखौ नोंथाङा फिटिनाय मोनबाय | bini ghabkhw nwngthanga fitinai mwnboi | High | 2:24 | Must be taught as healing from sin’s guilt/power, never conflated with physical/prosperity healing sought through Bathou/Kherai/Mainao-related household rites. |
| Christ suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous | Χριστὸς ἅπαξ ἔπαθεν περὶ ἁμαρτιῶν, δίκαιος ὑπὲρ ἀδίκων | मसीहा मोनसे बार गुनाहनि थाखाय दुख हरबाय, धार्मिक जायखि अधार्मिकनि थाखाय | Mosia mwnse bar gunahni thakhai dukh horboi, dharmik jaikhi adharmiknni thakhai | Critical | 3:18 | ἅπαξ (“once,” unrepeatable) must not be softened into a repeatable ritual pattern. |
| Put to death in the flesh, made alive in the spirit | θανατωθεὶς σαρκί, ζωοποιηθεὶς πνεύματι | गुदियाव थि जायो, आत्थायाव जिउ थायो | gudiyao thi jayw, aathayao jiu thayw | Critical | 3:18 | Exegetically disputed; must not imply “soul-only” survival assimilable to Bathou/Brahma Dharma spirit-survival frameworks; teach alongside bodily-resurrection language. |
B.6 Holiness in Conduct
| English Term | Original (Greek) | Bodo Rendering | Transliteration | Risk | Occurrences | Rejected Alternatives / Rationale |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Be holy, as he who called you is holy | ἅγιος…γενήθητε, ὅτι ἐγὼ ἅγιος | पबित्र थानाय, ईश्वरा पबित्र जायखि (Leviticus 19:2 quotation) | pobitro thanai, Isora pobitro jaikhi | High | 1:15-16 | Builds on पबित्र [Reused, High]; God’s moral holiness as the ground and pattern for believers’ conduct. |
| Ancestral/futile way of life | ματαία ἀναστροφὴ πατροπαράδοτος | बुरहा-बुरहीसरिनि फ्राय मोनथिनाय गोबां गुनथि गैया थानाय | bworha-bworhi-sori ni fray mwnthinai gwbang gunthi gaiya thanai | High | 1:18 | Requires acute pastoral sensitivity: many converts’ own family-transmitted Bathou tradition is precisely the “ancestral way of life” in view; teach without contempt for family/community, per the baseline’s evangelism posture. |
| New birth’s living seed / living word of God | σπορὰ ἄφθαρτος διὰ λόγου ζῶντος θεοῦ | गोमानाय-गैया बीजा, ईश्वरनि जिउनाय राव | gwmanai-gaiya bija, Isor ni jiunai rao | High | 1:23 | Reinforces that new birth is God’s sovereign act through his own word, never through human ancestral transmission (contrasts directly with the entry above). |
| Idolatry | εἰδωλολατρία | बांथिनि पुजा | banthini puja | Medium | 4:3 | Must be applied concretely and directly to household sijou-plant devotion and Kherai puja participation, not left abstract. |
| Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts | κύριον τὸν Χριστὸν ἁγιάσατε ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ὑμῶν | गोसोआव मसीहखौ प्रभु महर पबित्र मानोन | gwswao Mosihkhw probhu mohor pobitro manwn | High | 3:15 | Builds on प्रभु and पबित्र [Reused, Critical/High]; internal, settled reverence as the ground for courageous public testimony. |
B.7 Elders and Humility
| English Term | Original (Greek) | Bodo Rendering | Transliteration | Risk | Occurrences | Rejected Alternatives / Rationale |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Elder (church office) | πρεσβύτερος / συμπρεσβύτερος | मण्डलीनि प्राचीन / गोन्थ्रा प्राचीन | mwndoli ni prachin / gwnthra prachin | Critical | 5:1,5 | FORBIDDEN SUBSTITUTION (new to this curriculum, extending the baseline’s Lord/Father logic): NEVER render church “elder” with बर’ऐ or बुरहा, the honorific “great old one” titles the baseline reserves exclusively for Bathoubwrai and the wider Kherai pantheon of elder-deities. प्राचीन (a Sanskrit-loan office-term, attested in comparable regional Bible-translation convention) is deliberately preferred so that recognized human church leaders are never linguistically assimilated to the honored elder-deity figures of Bathou tradition. |
| Shepherd the flock of God / Chief Shepherd | ποιμάνατε τὸ ποίμνιον τοῦ θεοῦ / ἀρχιποίμην | ईश्वरनि भेड़ामाइयखौ सांगारनाय / बर भेड़ा सांगारि | Isor ni bheramaikhw sangarnai / bor bhera sangari | Medium | 5:2,4; (2:25 Christ as ποιμὴν καὶ ἐπίσκοπος) | The “flock” belongs to God, not the elder personally — a corrective against specialist-ritual-authority framing paralleling the doudini/deuri’s perceived personal ritual power. |
| Not domineering, but examples | μηδ’ ὡς κατακυριεύοντες…ἀλλὰ τύποι γινόμενοι | मानसिखौ सासननाय नङा, गनांथाय जायो | manwsikhw sasannai nwnga, gnangthai jayw | High | 5:3 | Must be preserved fully; guards against church leadership being modeled on socially prominent, commanding ritual-specialist authority patterns recognized in traditional Bodo religious life. |
| Clothe yourselves with humility | τὴν ταπεινοφροσύνην ἐγκομβώσασθε | गोहोमथिनायखौ बुदुम-जों गोन्नाय | gwhwmthinaikhw budumjwng gwnnai | High | 5:5 | The letter’s climactic call to mutual humility addressed to the WHOLE congregation, not elders alone; must be distinguished from mere social deference to a religious specialist’s status. |
| God opposes the proud, gives grace to the humble | ὁ θεὸς ὑπερηφάνοις ἀντιτάσσεται, ταπεινοῖς δὲ δίδωσιν χάριν | ईश्वरा गर्बिनि बिरुं जायो, गोहोमथिनाय मानुषखौ मोफादांनाय दान होयो | Isora gorbini birwng jayw, gwhwmthinai manwsikhw mwphwdangnai daan hoyw | High | 5:5 | Builds on मोफादांनाय दान [Reused, Critical]; Proverbs 3:34 quotation grounding humility in God’s own settled disposition. |
| Partaker of glory (disambiguation note) | κοινωνὸς τῆς δόξης | महिमानि गोन्थ्रा भागी (disambiguate from भागी = “fate”) | mohima ni gwnthra bhagi | High | 5:1 | Lexical-ambiguity flag: भागी can mean either “sharer/partaker” (needed sense) or “fate/fortune” (forbidden sense per baseline election/providence entries); disambiguate by context or substitute “महिमा मोनगारा” to avoid the fate-reading. |
B.8 Christ’s Proclamation to the Spirits (1 Peter 3:18-22)
| English Term | Original (Greek) | Bodo Rendering | Transliteration | Risk | Occurrences | Rejected Alternatives / Rationale |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spirits in prison | πνεύματα ἐν φυλακῇ | जेलआव थानाय आत्मासरि | jail-ao thanai aatma-sori | Critical | 3:19 | The single most doctrinally sensitive new term in this curriculum. Must never be taught in a way that suggests these spirits are approachable, propitiable, or channel-able the way the Bathou/Kherai populated spirit-world (nature-spirits, ancestral spirits invoked through the doudini’s Kherai trance) is approached. These are specific, historically-anchored (Noah’s generation, v.20), confined, disobedient spirit-beings under Christ’s judgment and authority — not a general spirit-population available for ongoing ritual contact. |
| He went and proclaimed | πορευθεὶς ἐκήρυξεν | मंग्लानाय | manglanai | Critical | 3:19 | Must be taught as a proclamation of Christ’s triumphant victory/judgment, NOT a general “second-chance” gospel offer to the dead; theologically disputed and requires human theologian review every occurrence. |
| Days of Noah / the ark | ἡμέραι Νῶε / κιβωτός | नोहनि सम / जुरगा | Nohni som / jurga | High | 3:20 | Requires full Old Testament narrative background supplied in teaching (Flood, Noah, ark), given assumed low Old Testament literacy in the target audience. |
| Baptism (as antitype of the flood) | ἀντίτυπον βάπτισμα | बाप्तिस्मा, बे नैथोरनि जोबाब | Baptisma, be naithwr ni jwbab | High | 3:21 | Standard transliteration बाप्तिस्मा follows regional Bible-translation convention; the typological “antitype/counterpart” framing requires explanation. |
| Not removal of dirt but appeal of a good conscience | οὐ σαρκὸς ἀπόθεσις ῥύπου ἀλλὰ συνειδήσεως ἀγαθῆς ἐρώτημα εἰς θεόν | गुदिनि गोसां साफनाय नङा, गोबां विवेकनि थाखाय ईश्वरखौ मिनतिनाय | gudi ni gwsang safnai nwnga, gwbang bibek ni thakhai Isorkhw minotinai | High | 3:21 | Peter’s own clarifying safeguard against reading baptism as ritual/physical cleansing (parallel to Bathou/Kherai purification rites); साफनाय [Reused — Romans TM] deliberately used here to mark what baptism is NOT; must never be omitted in teaching. |
| Gospel preached even to the dead | νεκροῖς εὐηγγελίσθη | गोथासोरनो मंगल खबर सोमोन्दो जायो | gwthasorwno mangal khobor somondo jayw | Critical | 4:6 | Must not be read as endorsing post-mortem “second chance” salvation, nor assimilated to any ancestor-spirit-communication framework (baseline forbids बुरहा-बुरही आत्था, ancestral household spirits, for the Holy Spirit — the same caution against conflating this proclamation with ancestor-veneration practice applies here). |
| Angels, authorities, and powers subjected to him | ἄγγελοι καὶ ἐξουσίαι καὶ δυνάμεις ὑποταγέντες | स्वर्गदूत आरो अधिकार आरो सक्तिसरि बिनि सिङाव मानोन जाबाय | sworgodut aro adhikar aro sakti-sori bini singao manwn jaboi | High | 3:22 | Christ’s totalizing supremacy over EVERY spiritual power, named and unnamed — the most direct available verse for confronting the entire Bathou/Kherai populated spirit-world at once; teach explicitly as supreme, not merely one power among many. |
| The devil, a roaring lion | ὁ διάβολος ὡς λέων ὠρυόμενος | शैतान भेरा बोरैसो गुरुगुरु सोलाय | Shaitan bhera-bworai-so gurugurusolai | High | 5:8 | शैतान (widely attested regional loanword) deliberately preferred over generic देउ, following the exact forbidden-substitution logic the baseline establishes for the Holy Spirit; must be taught as ONE specific personal adversary under Christ’s supreme authority, never one spirit among the wide, largely protective/ambivalent Bathou spirit-population. |

Coverage Confirmation
Every chapter of 1 Peter (1-5) is represented in this glossary with load-bearing terms. No chapter was found to contribute zero new theological vocabulary. Terms are cross-referenced to 07_semantic_analysis.md for full verse-by-verse and chapter-by-chapter theological reasoning, and all Critical/High risk assignments above are grounded in specific, named collision points with Bathouism (Bathoubwrai, the sijou plant, Kherai puja, the doudini medium, the populated nature/ancestor spirit-world) or Brahma Dharma (1912 Sanskritized reform, merit-ethics, rebirth cosmology), per the comparative-religion framework established in the baseline Romans Language Package.
Critical Risk Terms
God
Approved rendering: ईश्वर
Transliteration: Isor
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: बाथौबुरै (never use as the primary term for the biblical God; reserve strictly for describing traditional Bathou belief)
Original: θεός
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package; reused exactly. In 1 Peter, God is named as the one who caused believers’ new birth (1:3) and guards their inheritance (1:5); never merged with the existing Bathou high-god concept. Occurrences: 1:2,3,5,21; 2:4,5,9,10,12,15-17,19-20; 3:4-5,18,20-22; 4:2,6,10-11,14,16-19; 5:2,5-6,10-12.
Lord
Approved rendering: प्रभु
Transliteration: probhu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: बुरहा/बर’ऐ titles reserved for Bathoubwrai and Kherai-pantheon elder-deities, never use for Christ
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package; reused exactly. 1 Peter 3:15’s call to ‘sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts’ requires unqualified, exclusive supremacy. Occurrences: 1:3,25; 2:3,13; 3:6,12,15.
Jesus
Approved rendering: जिसु
Transliteration: Jisu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Original: Ἰησοῦς

Messiah
Approved rendering: मसीह
Transliteration: mosih
Doctrine: Messianic Promise
Inherited from Romans package; reused exactly. Occurs throughout 1 Peter (1:1,2,3,7,11,13,19; 2:21; 3:15-16,18; 4:1,13-14; 5:1,10,14); never one figure among many divine mediators in the Bathou pantheon.
Father
Approved rendering: आफा
Transliteration: afa
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Rejected alternatives: बाथौबुरै (reserve strictly for describing traditional belief, never for the biblical Father)
Original: πατήρ
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package; reused exactly. Occurrences: 1:2,3,17.
Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: पबित्र आत्था
Transliteration: pobitro aatha
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: देउ (generic spirit-being from the Bathou/Kherai pantheon, never use), बुरहा-बुरही आत्था (ancestral household spirits, never use)
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God
Inherited from Romans package; must always appear in full, never bare देउ/आत्था. Occurrences: 1:2,11,12; 4:14.
Grace
Approved rendering: मोफादांनाय दान
Transliteration: mwphwdangnai daan
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: दान गोरोबनाय (reciprocal gift expecting return, rejected), पुण्य (Brahma Dharma merit-language, never use)
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package; reused exactly, including its extended sense in 1 Peter 2:19-20 for commendable, credited endurance of unjust suffering. Occurrences: 1:2,10,13; 2:19-20; 3:7; 4:10; 5:5,10,12. Must resist both a Brahma Dharma merit reading and a traditional Bathou/Kherai reciprocal-offering reading.
Salvation
Approved rendering: फोरायनाय
Transliteration: phoraynai
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: मोक्ष (Brahma Dharma liberation, never use), रैखाथि (Kherai-pantheon misfortune-protection, never use alone)
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package; reused exactly. Occurrences: 1:5,9,10; 3:20-21. Full, final, eschatological deliverance, never conflated with this-life protection or cyclical liberation.

Rejected alternatives: फिन जोनोम (rebirth/reincarnation, never use)
Original: ἀνάστασις
Category: Eschatology
Inherited from Romans package; reused exactly. Occurrences: 1:3; 3:21. Bodily, historical, once-for-all; grounds both the living hope (1:3) and baptism’s saving significance (3:21).
Righteousness
Approved rendering: धार्मिकता
Transliteration: dharmikota
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: धर्म (avoid the bare Sanskritic sense of cosmic duty imported through Brahma Dharma reform teaching)
Original: δικαιοσύνη
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package; reused exactly. Occurrences: 2:24; 3:14,18. Must be taught as right standing/living flowing from Christ, never rule-keeping duty.
Living Hope
Approved rendering: जिउनाय आशा
Transliteration: jiunai asha
Doctrine: The Living Hope of the Resurrection
Rejected alternatives: generic आशा alone (loses the resurrection grounding), भागी-adjacent fate-confidence framing
Original: ἐλπὶς ζῶσα
Category: Eschatology
Occurrence: 1:3 (core passage). Genuine conceptual gap: Bathou ritual life secures only this-life protection/prosperity with no eschatological hope category; Brahma Dharma’s confidence is merit/cycle-based. Must always co-occur with जिउनाय सोलायनाय.
Born Again
Approved rendering: फिन जिउनाय होनाय
Transliteration: phin jiunai honai
Doctrine: New Birth (Regeneration)
Rejected alternatives: फिन जोनोम (rebirth/reincarnation) — ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN
Original: ἀναγεννάω
Category: Salvation
Occurrences: 1:3,23 (core passage). Even more vulnerable than ‘resurrection’ to the Brahma Dharma rebirth misreading, since ‘born again’ is verbally closer to birth-cycle vocabulary. This is a decisive, once-for-all divine act, never entry into a further cycle.
Holy Priesthood
Approved rendering: पबित्र पुरोहितपद
Transliteration: pobitro purohitpod
Doctrine: The Church as a Holy and Royal Priesthood
Rejected alternatives: bare पुरोहित (deuri/ojha ritual-specialist register)

Rejected alternatives: bare पुरोहित, any rendering implying a doudini-like specialist mediating minority
Original: βασίλειον ἱεράτευμα
Category: Church
Occurrence: 2:9. Collides with the doudini (Kherai medium), the deuri/ojha ritual-priest, and Brahma Dharma’s own reorganized priesthood; must be taught as belonging to ALL believers without exception.
Church Elder
Approved rendering: मण्डलीनि प्राचीन
Transliteration: mwndoli ni prachin
Doctrine: Elders and Humility
Rejected alternatives: बर’ऐ/बुरहा — FORBIDDEN, honorific ‘great old one’ titles reserved for Bathoubwrai and the wider Kherai pantheon of elder-deities
Original: πρεσβύτερος
Category: Leadership
Occurrences: 5:1,5. FORBIDDEN SUBSTITUTION extending the baseline’s Lord/Father logic: प्राचीन is deliberately preferred so recognized human church leaders are never linguistically assimilated to venerated elder-deity figures.
Ransomed Redeemed
Approved rendering: मुल्यजों फोरायनाय
Transliteration: mulyojwng phoraynai
Doctrine: Redemption by the Precious Blood of Christ
Rejected alternatives: any rendering implying reciprocal do-ut-des exchange (Bathoubwrai/Kherai offerings for protection)
Original: λυτρόω
Category: Salvation
Occurrence: 1:18. Sits on the same fault line the baseline names for ‘grace’; Christ himself pays the price, the believer contributes nothing.
Precious Blood Lamb

Doctrine: Redemption by the Precious Blood of Christ
Original: αἷμα τίμιον…ὡς ἀμνοῦ ἀμώμου καὶ ἀσπίλου

Transliteration: Mosia nwngthang ni thakhai dukh horboi, nwngthang ni thakhai bidinthi gnangthai hoboi
Doctrine: Christ’s Substitutionary Suffering
Rejected alternatives: imitation-only reading (loses the atoning ‘for you’), substitution-only reading (loses the call to Christlike endurance)
Original: Χριστὸς ἔπαθεν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν…ὑπογραμμόν
Category: Christology
Occurrence: 2:21. Both substitutionary and exemplary dimensions must be preserved together.
Bore Our Sins

Original: Χριστὸς ἅπαξ ἔπαθεν περὶ ἁμαρτιῶν, δίκαιος ὑπὲρ ἀδίκων
Category: Christology
Occurrence: 3:18. The unrepeatable, once-for-all character must never resemble recurring Bathou/Kherai offerings.
Put To Death Flesh Alive Spirit
Approved rendering: गुदियाव थि जायो, आत्थायाव जिउ थायो
Transliteration: gudiyao thi jayw, aathayao jiu thayw
Doctrine: Christ’s Proclamation to the Spirits
Original: θανατωθεὶς σαρκί, ζωοποιηθεὶς πνεύματι
Category: Christology
Occurrence: 3:18. Exegetically disputed; must never imply a ‘soul-only’ survival concept assimilable to Bathou/Brahma Dharma spirit-survival frameworks; teach alongside bodily-resurrection language.
Spirits In Prison
Approved rendering: जेलआव थानाय आत्मासरि
Transliteration: jail-ao thanai aatma-sori
Doctrine: Christ’s Proclamation to the Spirits
Original: πνεύματα ἐν φυλακῇ
Category: Eschatology
Occurrence: 3:19. Must never be taught as approachable, propitiable, or channel-able like the Bathou/Kherai populated spirit-world; these are specific, historically-anchored (Noah’s generation), confined, disobedient beings under Christ’s judgment. Every occurrence requires human theologian review.
Proclaimed To Spirits
Approved rendering: मंग्लानाय
Transliteration: manglanai
Doctrine: Christ’s Proclamation to the Spirits

Category: Eschatology
Occurrence: 4:6. Must not be read as endorsing post-mortem ‘second chance’ salvation, nor assimilated to ancestor-spirit-communication frameworks (parallel to the baseline’s forbidding बुरहा-बुरही आत्था for the Holy Spirit); flagged also against LDS/JW misreadings per 05_translation_landscape.md.

Approved rendering: मसीहनि पबित्र आत्था
Transliteration: Mosih ni pobitro aatha
