Core Glossary

Core Glossary — Jude (Koine Greek → Bodo)

Curriculum: Jude Purpose: Per-term glossary consolidating every load-bearing theological term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, spanning the entire book (Jude 1:1–25). Terms already fixed in the baseline Romans translation_memory.json are marked REUSED and must be used exactly as recorded there; no alternative rendering is permitted for those entries. Terms newly required for Jude’s distinct vocabulary are marked NEW and are proposed here as provisional entries for insertion into an updated translation_memory.json in a later Phase 1 step, pending Bodo-speaking theologian/native-speaker confirmation as flagged.

Risk tiers follow the baseline’s four-tier framework: Critical (human theologian review required for every occurrence), High (human theologian review required), Medium (native speaker review recommended), Low (automated review sufficient).

D. Cross-Reference Notes for Phase 2 Preparation

  1. Critical-tier consistency anchor: राखनाय (keep/guard/preserve) must be rendered identically at all five occurrences of the τηρέω/φυλάσσω root (1:1, 1:6 ×2, 1:13, 1:21, 1:24). This is the single most important terminological through-line in Jude and should receive the same cross-document consistency enforcement the baseline gives to Romans 8:28 and 10:9.
  2. Context-sensitive root requiring disambiguation: διακρίνω/διακρίνομαι appears in two distinct senses (1:9 “dispute,” rendered तर्क खालामनाय; 1:22 “waver/doubt,” rendered गोमानि होनाय) and must never share a single Bodo rendering, on the same principle the baseline already applies to κλητός across Romans 1:1/1:7/8:28-30.
  3. Escalation triggers carried over from the Romans AI instruction set that also apply in Jude: grace contrasted with license/works (1:4); election/foreknowledge-adjacent language (“marked out beforehand,” 1:4); references to the devil as a real personal being (1:9); references to eternal judgment/eternal fire (1:6-7, 1:13); the Lordship confession pattern (1:4, 1:25). All such segments should route to human theologian review, consistent with the baseline’s existing escalation rules.
  4. New doctrine risk registry required: The terms and doctrines identified in this glossary (Contending for the Faith Once Delivered; Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers; OT Warnings as Types; Mercy and Rescue of the Wavering; Kept by God and Presented Blameless; Doxology and God’s Preserving Power) are not present in the baseline Romans doctrine_risk_registry.json and will require new entries in a Jude-specific extension of that registry in a subsequent Phase 1 step, following the same risk-tier methodology demonstrated above.

Critical Risk Terms

Grace

Approved rendering: मोफादांनाय दान
Transliteration: mwphwdangnai daan
Doctrine: Grace Perverted into License
Rejected alternatives: दान गोरोबनाय (a reciprocal gift expecting return offering, rejected), पुण्य (Brahma Dharma merit-language, never use)
Original: χάρις
Category: Grace Perverted into License

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE (identical rendering, do not alter). In Jude 1:4, this is the very grace the false teachers deliberately pervert into licentiousness (उदंडता) — a designated escalation trigger; must resist both a Brahma Dharma merit-reading and a Bathou/Kherai reciprocal-offering reading here exactly as in Romans.

Righteousness

Approved rendering: धार्मिकता
Transliteration: dharmikota
Doctrine: Kept by God and Presented Blameless
Rejected alternatives: धर्म (avoid the bare Sanskritic sense of cosmic duty imported through Brahma Dharma reform teaching)

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Not directly lexicalized in Jude’s text, but retained as a required bridge concept: teaching material for Jude 1:24’s दोष गैर (blameless) should explicitly connect back to this Romans category so learners recognize positional standing granted by God, not self-achieved purity.

Justification

Approved rendering: धार्मिक होनाय राव
Transliteration: dharmik honai rao
Doctrine: Kept by God and Presented Blameless
Rejected alternatives: गुनाहनि माफ (forgiveness of sin alone, too narrow)

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Bridge concept: teaching material must explicitly connect Jude 1:24’s दोष गैर (blameless, presented before God’s glory) to this already-established forensic-declaration category so it is not mistaken for a merely subjective or ritual state.

Salvation

Approved rendering: फोरायनाय
Transliteration: phoraynai
Doctrine: Our Common Salvation
Rejected alternatives: मोक्ष (Brahma Dharma’s Hindu-derived liberation concept, never use), रैखाथि (protection from the Kherai pantheon against misfortune, never use)
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Jude 1:3 names ‘our common salvation’; Jude 1:23 commands urgent rescue (फोराय होनाय, same root); Jude 1:25 builds the agent-noun फोरायग्रा (‘Savior’) from this same root. Continue teaching from the ground up per baseline’s Critical framing — Bathouism has no developed eschatological salvation concept.

Lord

Approved rendering: प्रभु
Transliteration: probhu
Doctrine: Denial of Christ’s Exclusive Lordship
Rejected alternatives: बर’ऐ/बुरहा titles reserved for Bathoubwrai and Kherai-pantheon elder-deities, never use for Christ
Original: κύριος
Category: Denial of Christ’s Lordship

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Occurs at Jude 1:4, 1:5, 1:9 (x2), 1:14, 1:17, 1:21, 1:25. At 1:4, paired with मालिक (master/despotēs) to intensify, not divide, Christ’s exclusive authority against the false teachers’ denial. Never render with बर’ऐ/बुरहा.

Messiah

Approved rendering: मसीह
Transliteration: mosih
Doctrine: Denial of Christ’s Exclusive Lordship

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Occurs throughout Jude (1:1, 1:4, 1:17, 1:21, 1:25) rendering both ‘Christ’ and ‘Messiah’ identically.

Jesus

Approved rendering: जिसु
Transliteration: Jisu
Doctrine: Denial of Christ’s Exclusive Lordship
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Occurs throughout Jude (1:1, 1:4, 1:17, 1:21, 1:25).

God

Approved rendering: ईश्वर
Transliteration: Isor
Doctrine: Exclusive Monotheism and Sole Saviorhood
Rejected alternatives: बाथौबुरै (never use as the primary term for the biblical God; reserve strictly for describing traditional Bathou belief)
Original: θεός
Category: God

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Jude 1:25 climaxes with ‘the only God’ (मोनसे ईश्वर) — explicit exclusive monotheism directly confronting the populated Bathou/Kherai pantheon. Never बाथौबुरै.

Holy Spirit

Approved rendering: पबित्र आत्था
Transliteration: pobitro aatha
Doctrine: Absence of the Spirit in False Teachers
Rejected alternatives: देउ (a generic spirit-being from the Bathou/Kherai pantheon, never use), बुरहा-बुरही आत्था (ancestral household spirits venerated in traditional practice, never use)
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Jude 1:19 names the false teachers as devoid of this Spirit (see NEW entry worldly); Jude 1:20 commands praying ‘in the Holy Spirit.’ Always render in full; never bare आत्था or देउ.

Imputed Righteousness

Approved rendering: दानै लाबोनाय धार्मिकता
Transliteration: danai labwnai dharmikota
Doctrine: Kept by God and Presented Blameless
Rejected alternatives: मोनसे नि गुनथिजों लाबोनाय धार्मिकता (righteousness earned by one’s own good conduct, the explicit rejected opposite)

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Bridge concept for teaching Jude 1:24’s दोष गैर (‘blameless’) as a credited, granted positional status parallel to imputed righteousness, not a self-achieved ritual purity.

Faith Once Delivered

Approved rendering: पबित्र मानुषखौ मोनसे बार होजाबाय बिश्वास
Transliteration: pobitro manwswkhow monse bar hojabai biswas
Doctrine: Contending for the Faith Once Delivered
Rejected alternatives: A rendering implying a renewable ritual inheritance (rejected — collides with seasonal Bathou/Kherai sijou observance), A rendering implying an evolving reform project (rejected — collides with Brahma Dharma’s self-described ongoing 1912 reform)
Original: ἅπαξ παραδοθείσῃ τοῖς ἁγίοις πίστει
Category: Contending for the Faith

NEW — provisional, pending Bodo-speaking theologian confirmation. Thesis phrase of the whole epistle (Jude 1:3). Must be rendered IDENTICALLY every time it recurs across curriculum documents, parallel to the baseline’s Romans 1:16-17 consistency rule.

Contend For The Faith

Approved rendering: बिश्वासनि थाखाय जुझनाय
Transliteration: biswasni thakhai jhujnai
Doctrine: Contending for the Faith Once Delivered
Rejected alternatives: A term implying literal physical combat (rejected), A term implying ritual/trance spiritual combat as practiced in Kherai puja (rejected)
Original: ἐπαγωνίζεσθαι
Category: Contending for the Faith

NEW — provisional. Central thesis verb of Jude 1:3 (ἐπαγωνίζεσθαι); must connote active, vigorous, costly, non-violent doctrinal defense.

Keep Guard Preserve

Approved rendering: राखनाय
Transliteration: rakhnai
Doctrine: Kept by God and Presented Blameless
Rejected alternatives: भागी-adjacent fate language (rejected, parallel to baseline providence/election), A ritual-protection-charm framing paralleling sijou-plant household protection (rejected)
Original: τηρέω / φυλάσσω
Category: Kept by God and Presented Blameless

NEW — provisional. THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT CROSS-DOCUMENT CONSISTENCY ANCHOR IN THIS CURRICULUM. Renders τηρέω/φυλάσσω at Jude 1:1, 1:6 (x2), 1:13, 1:21, 1:24, spanning divine preservation, judicial confinement, and human responsibility. MUST be rendered identically at every occurrence — parallel in weight to the baseline’s treatment of Romans 8:28 and 10:9. Never let राखनाय stand without a clear relational-agency subject, since bare ‘being kept safe’ language defaults toward a charm/fate reading in ordinary Bodo religious speech.

Ungodly

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि बिरोधी / ईश्वरनि बिरोधनाय
Transliteration: Isornni birodhi / Isornni birodhnai
Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
Rejected alternatives: अधर्मी (rejected — dharma root risks collapsing this concept into Brahma Dharma’s reformed-conduct-code violation rather than defiant irreverence toward a personal God)
Original: ἀσεβής / ἀσέβεια
Category: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers

NEW — provisional. Renders ἀσεβής/ἀσέβεια, the letter’s defining negative theme, repeated fourfold at its climax (Jude 1:15) and again at 1:4, 1:18. Must denote active, willful irreverence toward God, never ritual impurity or code violation. Automated validation should flag any dharma-root candidate rendering for immediate rejection.

Master Despotes

Approved rendering: मालिक
Transliteration: malik
Doctrine: Denial of Christ’s Exclusive Lordship
Rejected alternatives: Elder-title honorifics बर’ऐ/बुरहा (rejected, per baseline forbidden-substitution list for κύριος)
Original: δεσπότης
Category: Denial of Christ’s Lordship

NEW — provisional. Jude 1:4 (δεσπότης), paired with प्रभु to intensify Christ’s absolute, proprietary authority, precisely what the false teachers deny.

Devil

Approved rendering: शैतान
Transliteration: Saitan
Doctrine: Reality of Satan and the Pattern of Angelic Restraint
Rejected alternatives: देउ, generic Bathou/Kherai spirit-being language (rejected — those spirits are ambivalent/appeasable, not definitively hostile)
Original: διάβολος
Category: Old Testament Warnings as Types

NEW — provisional. Jude 1:9 (διάβολος). FORBIDDEN SUBSTITUTION: never देउ. Must be taught as a specific, definitively hostile personal adversary of God, distinct from the populated, morally ambivalent Bathou/Kherai spirit-world.

Blameless

Approved rendering: दोष गैर
Transliteration: dos gwir
Doctrine: Kept by God and Presented Blameless
Rejected alternatives: Self-achieved ritual-purity framing paralleling Bathou/Kherai purification rites (rejected)
Original: ἄμωμος
Category: Kept by God and Presented Blameless

NEW — provisional. Jude 1:24 (ἄμωμος). Morphologically parallel to the baseline’s गैर-जुथुद pattern; bridge explicitly to the already-established धार्मिक होनाय राव (justification) and दानै लाबोनाय धार्मिकता (imputed righteousness) concepts from Romans.

Savior

Approved rendering: फोरायग्रा
Transliteration: phoraigra
Doctrine: Exclusive Monotheism and Sole Saviorhood
Rejected alternatives: मोक्ष-adjacent liberator framing (rejected, per baseline forbidden-substitution precedent for salvation)
Original: σωτήρ
Category: Doxology and God’s Preserving Power

NEW — provisional. Jude 1:25 (σωτήρ). Agent-noun on the फोराय- root; genuine conceptual gap requiring ground-up teaching, since Bathouism has no developed personal-Savior category.

High Risk Terms

Faith

Approved rendering: बिश्वास
Transliteration: biswas
Doctrine: Contending for the Faith Once Delivered
Rejected alternatives: भरोसा (generic trust, too weak alone)
Original: πίστις
Category: Faith

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. In Jude 1:3 and 1:20, बिश्वास shifts to denote the objective, closed deposit of apostolic doctrine entrusted to the church (fides quae creditur), distinct from personal trust in Christ (fides qua creditur) as used throughout Romans. This dual sense must be explicitly taught, not assumed.

Called

Approved rendering: फिनायाव
Transliteration: phinaiyao
Doctrine: Kept by God and Presented Blameless
Rejected alternatives: मिनतिनाय (a plea/invitation, too weak)
Original: κλητός
Category: Salvation

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Jude 1:1 addresses believers as ‘the called.’ Must be distinguished from a doudini being ritually ‘called’/seized by a deity during Kherai trance; God’s call is a purposeful, relational, whole-life summons.

Holy

Approved rendering: पबित्र
Transliteration: pobitro
Doctrine: Contending for the Faith Once Delivered
Rejected alternatives: साफ (physically clean, ritual-purity sense only)
Original: ἅγιος
Category: Sanctification

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Modifies ‘faith’ at Jude 1:20 (पबित्र बिश्वास) and the angelic host at Jude 1:14.

Saints

Approved rendering: पबित्र मानुष
Transliteration: pobitro manwsw
Doctrine: Contending for the Faith Once Delivered
Original: ἅγιοι
Category: Church

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Jude 1:3: the faith was delivered ‘to the saints’ — the corporate recipients of the closed apostolic deposit; must not be narrowed to imply a specialist religious elite paralleling the doudini’s ritual role.

Sin

Approved rendering: गुनाह
Transliteration: gunah
Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
Rejected alternatives: दोष (fault/blame, too weak/civic)

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Root reused to build गुनाहगिरि (‘sinner’, Jude 1:15) and गुनाहनि इच्छा (‘sinful desire/lust’, Jude 1:16, 1:18).

Glory

Approved rendering: महिमा
Transliteration: mohima
Doctrine: Doxology and God’s Preserving Power
Original: δόξα
Category: Doxology and God’s Preserving Power

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Ordinary singular sense used at Jude 1:24-25 (doxology). The unusual PLURAL ‘glorious ones’ sense at Jude 1:8 is a DISTINCT term (see glorious_ones below) and must NEVER be conflated with this entry or rendered with bare महिमा.

Power Of God

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि सक्ति
Transliteration: Isornni sakti
Doctrine: Doxology and God’s Preserving Power
Rejected alternatives: देउनि सक्ति (spirit/deity power as manifested through a doudini’s trance, avoid as a substitute)
Original: κράτος
Category: Doxology and God’s Preserving Power

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Root सक्ति reused for κράτος (‘dominion/might’) in Jude 1:25’s fourfold doxological formula; must remain categorically distinct from a doudini’s Kherai-trance ritual power.

Election

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि सायख
Transliteration: Isornni saikho
Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
Rejected alternatives: भागी (fate/fortune, too impersonal)

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Not directly lexicalized in Jude, but cross-referenced because Jude 1:4’s ‘marked out beforehand for this condemnation’ (see NEW entry marked_out_beforehand) must be taught under this same existing forbidden-substitution rule: never भागी (impersonal fate).

Providence

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि सामलानाय
Transliteration: Isornni samlanai
Doctrine: Kept by God and Presented Blameless
Rejected alternatives: भागी (fate, never use)

INHERITED FROM ROMANS PACKAGE. Cross-referenced because Jude’s राखनाय (‘keep/preserve’) through-line and 1:4’s ‘marked out beforehand’ both carry the identical risk of being reheard as impersonal fate (भागी) rather than God’s personal, purposive care; never भागी.

Father

Approved rendering: आफा
Transliteration: afa
Doctrine: Kept by God and Presented Blameless
Rejected alternatives: बाथौबुरै (reserve strictly for describing traditional belief, never for the biblical Father)
Original: πατήρ

NEW — provisional. Jude 1:2, 1:12, 1:21 (ἀγάπη). Must be distinguished from generic Bodo kinship affection and from the reciprocal, exchange-based devotion offered to Bathoubwrai/the Kherai pantheon; God’s self-giving covenantal love, freely given and multiplied, not transactional.

Judgment

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि बिसार
Transliteration: Isornni bisar
Doctrine: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers
Original: κρίμα / κρίσις
Category: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers

NEW — provisional. Renders κρίμα/κρίσις (Jude 1:4, 1:6, 1:9, 1:15). Must convey a personal, forensic verdict, not impersonal fate or misfortune addressed through ritual appeasement.

Original: ψυχικός
Category: Judgment on Ungodly False Teachers

NEW — provisional. Jude 1:19 (ψυχικός). Functional/descriptive rendering since Bodo has no lexical psychē/pneuma/sarx distinction; a diagnosis of spiritual condition, not merely bad behavior.

Transliteration: anonto jiu
Doctrine: Mercy and Rescue of the Wavering
Original: ζωὴ αἰώνιος
Category: Mercy and Rescue of the Wavering

Category: Mercy and Rescue of the Wavering

NEW — provisional. Jude 1:2, 1:21, 1:22, 1:23 (x2) (ἔλεος). Unilaterally initiated, rescuing compassion, not ritually induced favor; always anchor to Christ’s coming (1:21) and the urgency of rescue (1:23) in the same teaching unit.
