Core Glossary

2 Corinthians 1–13 | English → Bodo (Boro)

This glossary consolidates every load-bearing theological term identified in analysis/07_semantic_analysis.md, covering all 13 chapters of 2 Corinthians. Terms already fixed in the baseline Romans translation_memory.json are reused exactly as recorded there (marked “Baseline reuse” in the Source column) and must not be altered. Terms newly introduced by this curriculum are marked “New” and are provisional pending confirmation by a Bodo-speaking theologian, consistent with the baseline’s own treatment of descriptive-compound gap concepts.

Risk tiers follow baseline definitions: Critical (theologian review mandatory, every occurrence), High (theologian review mandatory), Medium (native-speaker review recommended), Low (automated review sufficient).

Notes for Phase 2 preparation:

  1. All “Critical” and “High” new terms in Table 2 must be added to a curriculum-specific extension of translation_memory.json and bible_term_registry.json before any Phase 2 segment translation begins, following the same JSON schema as the Romans baseline.
  2. Six terms in this glossary (new creation, reconciliation, ministry of reconciliation, ambassador, ecstasy/beside ourselves, Christ’s power in weakness) represent genuine conceptual gaps in the Bodo comparative-religion landscape, in the same category the baseline identifies for grace, salvation, justification, resurrection, and incarnation — they require ground-up teaching, not reuse of an existing native-religious concept, and are flagged for mandatory theologian confirmation before wide deployment.
  3. Three terms (warfare, strongholds, weapons — ch. 10) carry a Bodo-specific regional-conflict sensitivity not present in the Romans baseline’s risk landscape, arising from the Bodoland Territorial Region’s recent history of ethnic-political militancy, and require pastoral framing guidance in addition to standard doctrinal review.

Critical Risk Terms

God

Approved rendering: ईश्वर
Transliteration: Isor
Doctrine: Deity of Christ / God
Rejected alternatives: बाथौबुरै (never use as the primary term for the biblical God; reserve strictly for describing traditional Bathou belief)
Original: θεός
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs throughout 2 Corinthians (1:2-3, 3:3, 5:18-21, 6:16, 13:11). Never render with बाथौबुरै. NOTE: 2 Corinthians 4:4 applies the literal word ‘god’ ironically to Satan (‘the god of this age’) — see god_of_this_age entry below for the required non-literal handling that protects this term’s integrity elsewhere in the letter.

Jesus

Approved rendering: जिसु
Transliteration: Jisu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs throughout, e.g. 1:1, 4:5, 4:10-14, 11:4. Use established Bodo Bible form only; verify against a current printed copy before finalizing.

Messiah

Approved rendering: मसीह
Transliteration: Mosih
Doctrine: Messianic Promise / Christology

Inherited from Romans package (baseline ‘messiah’ entry). In 2 Corinthians this same rendering carries the pervasive ‘Christ’ title-and-virtual-proper-name usage, including the repeated ‘in Christ’ formula (5:17, 5:19, 12:2, 13:5) — see in_christ entry below. Must not be heard as one of several anointed teachers or spirit-mediators.

Lord

Approved rendering: प्रभु
Transliteration: probhu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: बुरहा/बर’ऐ titles reserved for Bathoubwrai and Kherai-pantheon elder-deities, never use for Christ
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:2-3, 4:5, 5:11 (‘fear of the Lord’), 10:17-18, 13:14. Never use बर’ऐ/बुरहा, which would place Christ inside the Bathou pantheon as an honored elder-spirit rather than exclusive Lord.

Holy Spirit

Approved rendering: पबित्र आत्था
Transliteration: pobitro aatha
Doctrine: Sanctification / New Covenant
Rejected alternatives: देउ (a generic spirit-being from the Bathou/Kherai pantheon, never use), बुरहा-बुरही आत्था (ancestral household spirits, never use)
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:22, 3:3-18, 5:5, 6:6, 13:14. Always render in full, even in the letter/Spirit antithesis of ch. 3 where bare πνεῦμα in Greek could tempt an abbreviation to bare आत्था — retain पबित्र आत्था in full per the forbidden-substitution rule, with a bracketed translator clarification instead of abbreviation.

Father

Approved rendering: आफा
Transliteration: afa
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Rejected alternatives: बाथौबुरै (reserve strictly for describing traditional belief, never for the biblical Father)
Original: πατήρ
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:2-3, 6:18 (‘I will be a Father to you’). Warm, relational rendering; never बाथौबुरै.

Grace

Approved rendering: मोफादांनाय दान
Transliteration: mwphwdangnai daan
Doctrine: Grace / Generosity and Grace in Giving
Rejected alternatives: दान गोरोबनाय (a reciprocal gift expecting return offering, rejected), पुण्य (Brahma Dharma merit-language, never use)
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:2, 6:1, 8:1,6-7,9,19, 9:8,14, 12:9, 13:14. In chs. 8-9 the double usage (God’s saving favor / the human generosity it produces) must be taught with a translator’s note distinguishing fruit from ground, guarding against both Bathou reciprocal-offering logic and Brahma Dharma merit logic being read into the collection itself.

Righteousness

Approved rendering: धार्मिकता
Transliteration: dharmikota
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God / Salvation
Rejected alternatives: धर्म (avoid the bare Sanskritic sense of cosmic duty imported through Brahma Dharma reform teaching)
Original: δικαιοσύνη
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 3:9, 5:21 (the doctrinal keystone of the core passage), 6:7,14, 9:9-10, 11:15. Must never collapse into the reformed Brahma Dharma sense of dutiful religious-code conduct; 5:21’s ‘become the righteousness of God’ requires mandatory theologian review at every occurrence.

Salvation

Approved rendering: फोरायनाय
Transliteration: phoraynai
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God
Rejected alternatives: मोक्ष (Brahma Dharma’s Hindu-derived liberation concept, never use), रैखाथि (protection from the Kherai pantheon, never use as a stand-alone gloss)
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:6, 6:2 (‘now is the day of salvation’), 7:10. Remains a ground-up teaching concept, not a reused native category.

Resurrection

Approved rendering: जिउनाय सोलायनाय
Transliteration: jiunai solainai
Doctrine: New Creation in Christ
Rejected alternatives: फिन जोनोम (rebirth into a new life-cycle, absorbed into Brahma Dharma from Hindu reincarnation teaching, never use)
Original: ἀνάστασις / ἐγείρω
Category: Eschatology

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 4:14, 5:15. Never फिन जोनोम.

Incarnation

Approved rendering: मानसि गुदि सोलायनाय
Transliteration: manwsi gudi solainai
Doctrine: Christ’s Voluntary Poverty (Kenosis) / Christology (background)
Rejected alternatives: देउनि आगोर (a deity temporarily ‘descending into’ or speaking through a doudini during Kherai trance, never use)
Original: ὁ λόγος σὰρξ ἐγένετο
Category: Christology

Inherited from Romans package. Background to 5:16 (‘Christ according to the flesh’) and 8:9 (Christ’s voluntary poverty). Must be sharply distinguished from doudini Kherai-trance possession.

Imputed Righteousness

Approved rendering: दानै लाबोनाय धार्मिकता
Transliteration: danai labwnai dharmikota
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God / Substitutionary Atonement
Rejected alternatives: मोनसे नि गुनथिजों लाबोनाय धार्मिकता (righteousness earned by one’s own good conduct, the explicit rejected opposite)
Original: ἐλογίσθη…εἰς δικαιοσύνην
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. Structural backbone of 5:19 (negative form — sin not imputed) and 5:21 (positive form — righteousness credited). Both directions of this forensic-accounting logic must use the same register; see not_imputing_trespasses and made_sin entries.

Satan

Approved rendering: शैतान
Transliteration: Shaitan
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare and Discernment
Original: Σατανᾶς
Category: Spiritual Warfare

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 2:11, 11:14, 12:7. Must be clearly distinguished from the malevolent or capricious spirit-beings recognized within the Bathou spirit-world and addressed through Kherai/Bathou ritual appeasement; a singular, personal, defeated-yet-active adversary, not one hostile spirit among a populated pantheon to be ritually managed.

New Covenant

Approved rendering: गोदान गोसाथारि
Transliteration: godan gwsathari
Doctrine: The New Covenant versus the Old
Original: καινὴ διαθήκη
Category: New Covenant versus the Old

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 3:6. No crystallized single covenant-theology term is attested in current Bodo Christian literature; requires theologian confirmation before wide deployment. Must be paired explicitly with old_covenant for the contrast to be visible to learners.

Old Covenant

Approved rendering: जुना गोसाथारि
Transliteration: juna gwsathari
Doctrine: The New Covenant versus the Old
Original: παλαιὰ διαθήκη
Category: New Covenant versus the Old

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 3:14. Paired with new_covenant; must be distinguished from Brahma Dharma’s own codified early-20th-century reform of Bodo religious practice, and from Bathouism’s lack of any fixed written ‘letter’ at all.

God Of This Age

Approved rendering: ई जगतनि शैतान
Transliteration: i jagatni Shaitan
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare and Discernment
Rejected alternatives: इ जगतनि ईश्वर (a literal rendering, forbidden — risks legitimizing Satan as a rival deity within an assumed polytheistic Bathou framework)
Original: ὁ θεὸς τοῦ αἰῶνος τούτου
Category: Spiritual Warfare

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 4:4. Deliberately does NOT render literally with ईश्वर. This deviation from strict literalness is itself a doctrinal safeguard and must be flagged for theologian review with an explicit translator’s note.

Temple Of Living God

Approved rendering: जिबोन ईश्वरनि मन्दिर
Transliteration: jibwn Isornni mwndir
Doctrine: Church as Temple of the Living God
Original: ναὸς θεοῦ ζῶντος
Category: Church

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 6:16. मन्दिर is heavily associated with Hindu temple-worship and, adjacently, with नमासोलि, the Bathou/Kherai ritual worship-ground already flagged in the baseline as strictly distinct from मण्डली. Must be taught as figurative, relational, and corporate, never suggesting believers should construct or venerate a physical shrine-building.

False Apostles

Approved rendering: मिथ्या गोदान जायगारि
Transliteration: mithya godan jaigari
Doctrine: Genuine versus False Apostleship
Original: ψευδαπόστολοι
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 11:13. Anchor term of Genuine versus False Apostleship; must be taught alongside criteria for discernment (11:13-15, 12:11-12) so that impressive claims to spiritual authority — potentially resonant with the perceived authority of a doudini’s trance-derived pronouncements — are not mistaken for evidence of genuine apostolic legitimacy.

Christs Power In Weakness

Approved rendering: मसीहनि सक्ति
Transliteration: Mosihni sakti
Doctrine: Power in Weakness
Rejected alternatives: bare सक्ति (forbidden — generic supernatural power), देउनि सक्ति (spirit/mediumistic power attributed to a doudini’s trance, forbidden)
Original: ἡ δύναμίς τοῦ Χριστοῦ
Category: Power in Weakness

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 12:9. Direct textual anchor of Power in Weakness; must never use bare सक्ति alone. The paradox that God’s power is displayed through, not despite, human weakness stands in sharp, deliberate contrast to any cultural expectation that spiritual power is authenticated through displays of strength, trance vigor, or oracular potency.

New Creation

Approved rendering: गोदान सृष्टि
Transliteration: godan srishti
Doctrine: New Creation in Christ
Original: καινὴ κτίσις
Category: New Creation

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:17. सृष्टि risks being heard through Bathou cosmology’s own five-element creation frame (ha/dwi/bar/or/okhrang, radiating from the sijou plant); must be explicitly taught as a spiritual and moral remaking of the person, categorically distinct from cosmological/elemental creation-language. Requires theologian confirmation before deployment.

Reconciliation

Approved rendering: गोसो फिन जोड़ोनाय
Transliteration: gwsw phin jworonai
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God
Original: καταλλαγή / καταλλάσσω
Category: Reconciliation

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:18-20. Genuine conceptual gap: neither Bathou ritual practice (oriented toward securing ongoing favor/protection through offerings) nor Brahma Dharma’s merit ethic has a category for a broken relationship with a personal, holy God being unilaterally and completely restored by that God’s own initiative apart from human ritual repair. Requires theologian confirmation before deployment.

Not Imputing Trespasses

Approved rendering: गुनाहखौ हिसाब खालामनाय गैया
Transliteration: gunahkhou hisab khalamnai gaiya
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God
Original: μὴ λογιζόμενος (αὐτοῖς τὰ παραπτώματα)
Category: Reconciliation

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:19. Must be rendered with the same forensic-accounting register established for imputed_righteousness, so learners see the same divine-ledger logic operating in both directions.

Made Sin

Approved rendering: गुनाह महरै खालामबाय
Transliteration: gunah mworai khalambai
Doctrine: Substitutionary Atonement
Original: τὸν μὴ γνόντα ἁμαρτίαν…ἁμαρτίαν ἐποίησεν
Category: Reconciliation

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:21. Must not be softened into ‘made Him a sin-offering’ only (true but incomplete) nor into ‘punished as if guilty’ in a way suggesting Christ became morally corrupted; the forensic, substitutionary sense established for imputed_righteousness must govern this rendering as its structural mirror-image. Mandatory theologian review at every occurrence.

Ecstasy Beside Ourselves

Approved rendering: गोसो सोर सोलायनाय
Transliteration: gwsw sor solainai
Doctrine: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority
Original: ἐξίστημι
Category: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:13. This sits directly beside the single most dangerous collision point in the whole Bodo language package: the doudini’s Kherai-trance possession state, in which the medium’s ordinary self recedes and Bathoubwrai or another deity is understood to speak through her. Must under no circumstances be rendered with vocabulary evoking doudini possession; a mandatory translator’s note must instruct that this is idiomatic self-description of zeal, not an altered ritual consciousness state.

Substitutionary For

Approved rendering: …नि थाखाय सिरनाय
Transliteration: …ni thakhai sirnai
Doctrine: Substitutionary Atonement
Original: ὑπέρ (πάντων ἀπέθανεν)
Category: Reconciliation

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:14-15,21. Carries the entire weight of substitutionary atonement in these verses; must be rendered so that Christ’s death is understood as a real substitution for sinners, not merely an example or a sympathetic act of solidarity.

Benediction Triad

Approved rendering: मोफादांनाय दान, प्रेम, गोसो जोंथानाय
Transliteration: mwphwdangnai daan, prem, gwsw jwnthanai
Doctrine: Trinitarian Benediction and Fellowship
Original: ἡ χάρις…ἡ ἀγάπη…ἡ κοινωνία (τοῦ ἁγίου Πνεύματος)
Category: Church

[NEW TERM — compound of baseline reuse terms]. Occurs at 13:14. Given the accumulated weight of every Critical-risk term it contains (grace, love, fellowship, Holy Spirit), this benediction must be flagged for identical, verbatim-consistent rendering across every document in this curriculum, per the Theological Consistency Rules precedent set in the Romans baseline for 1:16-17, 8:28, and 10:9-10.

High Risk Terms

Faith

Approved rendering: बिश्वास
Transliteration: biswas
Doctrine: Faith
Rejected alternatives: भरोसा (generic trust, too weak alone)
Original: πίστις
Category: Faith

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:24, 4:13, 5:7 (‘we walk by faith, not by sight’), 13:5. Object of faith (Christ) must remain explicit in context to avoid a generic-devotion reading.

Holy

Approved rendering: पबित्र
Transliteration: pobitro
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: साफ (physically clean, ritual-purity sense only)
Original: ἅγιος
Category: Sanctification

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:12 (implicit, via sincerity construction), 6:6, 7:1, 13:12 (‘holy kiss’). Reserve साफ strictly for physical/ritual cleanliness, distinct from Bathou/Kherai purification rites.

Saints

Approved rendering: पबित्र मानुष
Transliteration: pobitro manwsw
Doctrine: Church
Original: ἅγιοι
Category: Church

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:1, 8:4, 9:1,12, 13:12. Must not be narrowed to suggest a specialist religious elite paralleling the doudini’s recognized ritual role.

Sanctification

Approved rendering: पबित्रनाय
Transliteration: pobitronai
Doctrine: Suffering and Comfort in Ministry / Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: साफनाय (ritual cleansing, avoid as a substitute)
Original: ἁγιασμός
Category: Sanctification

Inherited from Romans package. Relevant to 7:1 (‘let us cleanse ourselves…perfecting holiness’) and 6:6. Distinguish from the external ritual cleansing preceding Bathou/Kherai ceremonies.

Covenant

Approved rendering: गोसाथारि
Transliteration: gwsathari
Doctrine: The New Covenant versus the Old
Original: διαθήκη
Category: Covenant

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 3:6,14. Risk escalates to Critical when explicitly contrasted as new vs. old (see new_covenant/old_covenant entries) since no crystallized single covenant-theology term is attested in current Bodo Christian literature.

Sin

Approved rendering: गुनाह
Transliteration: gunah
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God
Rejected alternatives: दोष (fault/blame, too weak/civic)
Original: ἁμαρτία
Category: Sin

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 5:19,21, 11:7. Risk escalates to Critical in 5:21 (‘made Him…to be sin for us’) — see made_sin entry. Distinguish from ritual impurity addressed by Bathou/Kherai cleansing rites.

Glory

Approved rendering: महिमा
Transliteration: mohima
Doctrine: New Creation / Power in Weakness
Original: δόξα
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 3:7-18 (Moses’ fading glory vs. the new covenant’s greater glory), 4:4,6,17, 8:23. Must never be described with metaphors evoking a doudini’s trance-radiance or oracular authority.

Power Of God

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि सक्ति
Transliteration: Isornni sakti
Doctrine: Power in Weakness
Rejected alternatives: देउनि सक्ति (spirit/deity power as manifested through a doudini’s trance, avoid as a substitute)
Original: δύναμις θεοῦ
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 4:7, 6:7, 13:4. See also christs_power_in_weakness (12:9) as the intensified Critical-risk form of this term specific to 2 Corinthians’ central paradox.

Adoption

Approved rendering: गोसोआव फैनाय
Transliteration: gwswao phoinai
Doctrine: New Creation in Christ (background)
Original: υἱοθεσία
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package. Background sense at 6:18 (‘sons and daughters’). Full inheritance-rights sense must be taught explicitly, per baseline caution on Bodo clan (afad) kinship structure.

Comfort

Approved rendering: सान्ति होनाय
Transliteration: santi honai
Doctrine: Suffering and Comfort in Ministry
Original: παράκλησις / παρακαλέω
Category: Suffering and Comfort

[NEW TERM]. Occurs 10 times in 1:3-7 alone; also 7:4,6-7,13. Must be taught as relational and personal (God himself present with the sufferer), not the ritual reassurance/protection Bathou and Kherai offerings secure, nor a fatalistic resignation to suffering as karmic consequence (a live risk given Brahma Dharma’s karma-oriented ethic). Distinct from गोसो होनाय (exhort) and from सान्ति (peace).

Affliction

Approved rendering: दुख-कष्ट
Transliteration: dukh-koshto
Doctrine: Suffering and Comfort in Ministry
Original: θλῖψις
Category: Suffering and Comfort

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 1:4,8, 2:4, 4:17, 6:4, 7:4, 8:2,13. Must not be read as karma-merit consequence (deserved result of past deeds); Paul’s afflictions are for the gospel’s sake and are met with God’s comfort, not karmic accounting.

Sufferings Of Christ

Approved rendering: मसीहनि दुख-कष्ट
Transliteration: Mosihni dukh-koshto
Doctrine: Suffering and Comfort in Ministry
Original: παθήματα τοῦ Χριστοῦ
Category: Suffering and Comfort

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 1:5. Must be taught as participatory union with Christ’s redemptive suffering, never a cyclical or repeatable ritual re-enactment.

Guarantee

Approved rendering: आगोत्थार थारो
Transliteration: agwtthar tharo
Doctrine: Holy Spirit as Seal and Guarantee
Original: ἀρραβών
Category: Assurance

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 1:22, 5:5. Ties directly to baseline’s adoption doctrine (गोसोआव फैनाय) and its inheritance-rights emphasis; must be taught with that explicit inheritance framing rather than assumed as familiar.

Sincerity

Approved rendering: सोर गोसो
Transliteration: sor gwsw
Doctrine: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority
Original: ἁπλότης / εἰλικρίνεια
Category: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 1:12, 11:3 (implicit, ‘simplicity that is in Christ’). Inward, motive-level transparency, distinct from outward ritual purity in Bathou/Kherai preparation rites. Same lexeme also denotes ‘generosity’ in giving contexts (ch. 8) — see generosity entry; disambiguate by context.

The Letter

Approved rendering: अक्षर
Transliteration: akshar
Doctrine: The New Covenant versus the Old
Original: γράμμα
Category: New Covenant versus the Old

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 3:6-7. Contrasted with पबित्र आत्था (always in full, never bare आत्था even in this antithesis). Central to teaching that the old covenant’s external written code condemns while the new covenant’s Spirit internally transforms and gives life.

Veil

Approved rendering: मुं ढापनाय फोर
Transliteration: mung dhapnai phor
Doctrine: The New Covenant versus the Old
Original: κάλυμμα
Category: New Covenant versus the Old

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 3:13-16. ‘Veil’ carries strong contemporary South Asian cultural associations (purdah/head-covering practice) unrelated to Paul’s metaphor of spiritual incomprehension; a translator’s note distinguishing the metaphorical usage from literal head-covering custom is required.

Freedom

Approved rendering: बन्धन गैयि थानाय
Transliteration: bwndon gaiyi thanai
Doctrine: The New Covenant versus the Old
Rejected alternatives: मुक्ति (collides with Brahma Dharma’s Hindu-derived मोक्ष liberation theology, already forbidden in the baseline for ‘salvation’)
Original: ἐλευθερία
Category: New Covenant versus the Old

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 3:17. NEVER मुक्ति. This is freedom from the old covenant’s condemning letter, not liberation from a cycle of rebirth.

Transformed

Approved rendering: रूप सोलायनाय
Transliteration: rup solainai
Doctrine: Transformation into Christ’s Likeness
Rejected alternatives: फिन जोनोम (rebirth/reincarnation, forbidden)
Original: μεταμορφούμεθα
Category: New Creation

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 3:18. Shares the सोलायनाय (‘turning/changing’) root with baseline’s जिउनाय सोलायनाय (resurrection); must be carefully distinguished from any rebirth/reincarnation reading — this is ever-increasing conformity to Christ, not a cyclical process.

Outer Inner Man

Approved rendering: बाहेरनि मानसि / गुदिनि मानसि
Transliteration: baherni manwsi / gudini manwsi
Doctrine: New Creation in Christ
Original: ὁ ἔξω / ὁ ἔσω ἄνθρωπος
Category: New Creation

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 4:16. This body/inner-self dualism must not be assimilated to the reincarnating आत्मा concept absorbed into Brahma Dharma’s Hindu-influenced teaching; the inner man’s daily renewal is progressive sanctification of a single, continuous person, not sequential rebirth stages.

Judgment Seat Of Christ

Approved rendering: मसीहनि बिसार आसन
Transliteration: Mosihni bisar asan
Doctrine: Judgment Seat of Christ and Accountability
Original: βῆμα (τοῦ Χριστοῦ)
Category: Reconciliation

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:10. बिसार आसन carries administrative/judicial-court resonance that could be conflated either with civil/territorial courts (a politically loaded association in the Bodoland region) or with a traditional village dispute-resolution council; must be explicitly taught as distinct from both and from the final condemnation-judgment already resolved by justification.

Repentance

Approved rendering: मन सोलायनाय
Transliteration: mon solainai
Doctrine: Repentance and Godly Sorrow
Original: μετάνοια
Category: Suffering and Comfort

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 7:9-10. Must be distinguished both from mere remorse/regret and from ritual purification acts performed before Bathou/Kherai ceremonies, which address ritual rather than moral/relational standing.

Godly Sorrow Worldly Sorrow

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि जायगायनि सुस्ति / जगतनि सुस्ति
Transliteration: Isornni jaygayni susti / jagatni susti
Doctrine: Repentance and Godly Sorrow
Original: λύπη κατὰ θεόν / λύπη τοῦ κόσμου
Category: Suffering and Comfort

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 7:10. Requires explicit contrast teaching; risk of collapsing both into a single generic ‘sadness’ term that loses Paul’s crucial moral distinction.

Christs Poverty Riches

Approved rendering: गरीब / धनी (मसीहनि)
Transliteration: garib / dhoni (Mosihni)
Doctrine: Christ’s Voluntary Poverty (Kenosis)
Original: πτωχεία / πλοῦτος (Χριστοῦ)
Category: Generosity in Giving

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 8:9. This is a genuinely Christological statement about the incarnate Son’s voluntary self-humbling and must not be flattened into a merely economic or moralizing statement about material generosity detached from its Christological ground (मानसि गुदि सोलायनाय).

Warfare Not Of Flesh

Approved rendering: गाहायनि लराइ
Transliteration: gahaini lorai
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare and Discernment
Original: στρατεύομαι κατὰ σάρκα
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 10:3. HIGH risk with a distinctive Bodo-specific pastoral sensitivity: the Bodoland Territorial Region has a real, recent history of ethnic-political armed conflict and militancy. Must be taught with unusual care as strictly spiritual-rhetorical language, never as endorsement, analogy, or coded reference to actual armed or political conflict.

Strongholds

Approved rendering: गढ़
Transliteration: garh
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare and Discernment
Original: ὀχύρωμα
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 10:4. Same regional-conflict sensitivity as warfare_not_of_flesh applies; teach as intellectual/spiritual, never political-military.

Weapons

Approved rendering: आयुध
Transliteration: ayudh
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare and Discernment
Original: ὅπλον
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 10:4. Same regional-conflict sensitivity applies as above.

Boasting

Approved rendering: गर्बनाय (illegitimate) / प्रभुआव सोमान खालामनाय (legitimate)
Transliteration: garbnai / probhuao soman khalamnai
Doctrine: Boasting Rightly: Glorying in the Lord
Original: καύχημα / καυχάομαι
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:12, 10:8,13,15-17, 11:10,12,16-18,30, 12:1,5-6,9,11. Dual valence (illegitimate self-promotion vs. legitimate glorying in Christ, 10:17) must be taught explicitly; conflating the two collapses the Genuine versus False Apostleship doctrine.

Angel Of Light

Approved rendering: महर आथारनि दूत
Transliteration: mohor atharni doot
Doctrine: Genuine versus False Apostleship
Original: ἄγγελος φωτός
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 11:14. Warns that impressive, seemingly benevolent spiritual manifestation is not self-authenticating — directly relevant to how learners might otherwise regard Kherai-puja spirit visitations as inherently benevolent by virtue of their impressiveness or claimed divine origin.

Super Apostles

Approved rendering: अति-बर गोदान जायगारि
Transliteration: ati-bor godan jaigari
Doctrine: Genuine versus False Apostleship
Original: ὑπερλίαν ἀπόστολοι
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 11:5, 12:11. Teaches that impressiveness of claim or manner is not the measure of genuine apostleship; genuine apostolic authority is validated by suffering-marked, Christ-centered ministry (11:23-33).

Third Heaven

Approved rendering: गोसोम सान्दांनि आखा
Transliteration: gwswm sandangni akha
Doctrine: Power in Weakness (background)
Original: τρίτος οὐρανός
Category: Power in Weakness

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 12:2. Risk of conflation with Bathou cosmology’s own sky-element okhrang (one of the sijou plant’s five represented elements); must be taught as a distinct Jewish apocalyptic category, not an extension of Bathou’s elemental cosmology.

Thorn In The Flesh

Approved rendering: गाहायनि खोंथाय
Transliteration: gahaini khonthai
Doctrine: Thorn in the Flesh and Sufficient Grace
Original: σκόλοψ τῇ σαρκί
Category: Power in Weakness

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 12:7. The strong cultural instinct in Bathou/Kherai-influenced folk practice is to interpret persistent unexplained affliction as requiring ritual diagnosis and intervention by a doudini or ओझा. Paul’s theology — that God’s answer is not necessarily removal but sufficient grace — represents a significant, explicitly taught contrast.

Messenger Of Satan

Approved rendering: शैताननि दूत
Transliteration: Shaitanni doot
Doctrine: Thorn in the Flesh and Sufficient Grace
Original: ἄγγελος Σατανᾶ
Category: Power in Weakness

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 12:7. Must be taught carefully: this affliction is permitted by God for a sanctifying purpose, not a sign of demonic conquest requiring an exorcistic ritual response.

Weakness

Approved rendering: कमजोर / गोरलैनाय
Transliteration: komjor / gworlainai
Doctrine: Power in Weakness
Original: ἀσθένεια
Category: Power in Weakness

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 11:30, 12:5,9-10, 13:4,9. The theological paradox sits in real tension with the cultural expectation — reinforced by Kherai puja’s dramatic displays of trance potency — that authentic spiritual power manifests as visible strength, vigor, or overwhelming force. This tension should be named directly in teaching, not smoothed over.

Signs Of True Apostle

Approved rendering: रोखा गोदान जायगारिनि चिनांथाय
Transliteration: rokha godan jaigarini chinangthai
Doctrine: Genuine versus False Apostleship
Original: σημεῖα τοῦ ἀποστόλου
Category: Genuine versus False Apostleship

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 12:12. Genuine marks include patient endurance in suffering, not merely impressive spiritual phenomena — directly relevant to the discernment criteria needed against false apostles and super-apostles.

In Christ

Approved rendering: मसीहाव / मसीह नोंसोरनि सोदोमाव
Transliteration: Mosihao / Mosih nongsworni sodomao
Doctrine: New Creation in Christ
Original: ἐν Χριστῷ / Χριστὸς ἐν ὑμῖν
Category: Reconciliation

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:17,19, 12:2,19, 13:5. Must be taught, not assumed, as a relational-spiritual incorporation formula rather than a devotional posture toward one deity among several.

Ministry Of Reconciliation

Approved rendering: गोसो फिन जोड़ोनायनि सेवा
Transliteration: gwsw phin jworonaini seba
Doctrine: Ministry of Reconciliation
Rejected alternatives: bare सेवा (forbidden when the specifically apostolic/gospel ministry sense is intended — risks reading as generic ritual service paralleling a doudini or ओझा)
Original: διακονία (τῆς καταλλαγῆς)
Category: Reconciliation

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:18-19. The compound must always be used in full rather than bare सेवा.

Ambassador

Approved rendering: प्रतिनिधि
Transliteration: protinidhi
Doctrine: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority
Original: πρεσβεύω
Category: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:20. ‘Ambassador/representative’ language carries live political resonance in the Bodoland Territorial Region, where ‘representative’ is closely tied to elected territorial-council office; must be taught as Christ’s spiritual-diplomatic authorization to proclaim reconciliation, not a political appointment or claim to territorial representation. Always modify with मसीहनि.

Fear Of The Lord

Approved rendering: प्रभुनि सायखो गोरोन्थि
Transliteration: probhuni saikho gwronthi
Doctrine: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority
Original: φόβος τοῦ κυρίου
Category: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:11. Must be distinguished from fear of Bathoubwrai’s displeasure or fear of misfortune addressed by Kherai/Bathou protective ritual; this is relational accountability to a personal, exclusive Lord, not appeasement of a spirit that might otherwise cause harm.

Flesh Kata Sarka

Approved rendering: गाहाय जों
Transliteration: gahai jong
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God (background)
Original: σάρξ (κατὰ σάρκα)
Category: Reconciliation

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:16. ‘According to the flesh’ easily collapses into clan (afad), ethnic, or territorial identity categories — a live and sensitive axis in the Bodoland region. Must be taught as: identity in Christ supersedes lineage, clan, and worldly status evaluation, without denying the real value of positive lineage-language used elsewhere (दाऊदनि बेंसे).

Medium Risk Terms

Apostle

Approved rendering: गोदान जायगारि
Transliteration: godan jaigari
Doctrine: Apostleship / Genuine versus False Apostleship
Rejected alternatives: दूत (generic messenger, too weak)
Original: ἀπόστολος
Category: Apostleship

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:1, 11:5,13, 12:11-12. Risk escalates to Critical whenever contrasted with false_apostles or super_apostles (chs. 10-12), where the genuineness of the office itself is under dispute.

Church

Approved rendering: मण्डली
Transliteration: mwndoli
Doctrine: Church as God’s People
Rejected alternatives: नमासोलि (Bathou/Kherai shrine site or worship ground, never use)
Original: ἐκκλησία
Category: Church

Inherited from Romans package. Occurs at 1:1, 8:1,18-19,23-24, 11:8,28, 12:13. Remains distinct from नमासोलि and from मन्दिर (see temple_of_living_god below).

Law

Approved rendering: बिथान
Transliteration: bithan
Doctrine: The New Covenant versus the Old
Rejected alternatives: धर्मनि नियम (Brahma Dharma’s own codified religious-conduct rules, avoid as the primary gloss)
Original: νόμος
Category: Covenant

Inherited from Romans package. Implicit throughout 3:6-15 as the content of the ‘old covenant’ and its ‘letter’. Distinguish from Brahma Dharma’s own codified reform conduct-rules.

Peace

Approved rendering: सान्ति
Transliteration: santi
Doctrine: Peace with God (background)

Inherited from Romans package. Background presence at 13:11 (‘live in peace’). Must be kept visually and contextually distinct from सान्ति होनाय (comfort, [NEW TERM] below) to prevent merging comfort-in-affliction with static peace-with-God.

Seal

Approved rendering: छाप
Transliteration: chap
Doctrine: Holy Spirit as Seal and Guarantee
Original: σφραγίς / σφραγίζω
Category: Assurance

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 1:22. Must not be read as a protective charm or amulet, a category present in traditional Bodo material-religious practice.

Forgiveness

Approved rendering: माफ खालामनाय
Transliteration: maph khalamnai
Doctrine: Forgiveness and Restoration in Church Discipline
Original: χαρίζομαι / ἀφίημι
Category: Church

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 2:7,10. Baseline explicitly rejected ‘गुनाहनि माफ’ as an insufficient stand-alone gloss for justification; here, as plain interpersonal/divine forgiveness, माफ खालामनाय is appropriate, but a translator note should mark the boundary: this is a real component of, but not synonymous with, the fuller forensic declaration धार्मिक होनाय राव.

Fragrance Of Christ

Approved rendering: सुबास
Transliteration: subas
Doctrine: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority
Original: εὐωδία (Χριστοῦ)
Category: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 2:15-16. Must be taught as a metaphor for gospel witness, not literal ritual incense/fragrance offering, a practice present in regional devotional culture broadly and adjacent to (though not identical with) Kherai puja ritual elements.

Triumphal Procession

Approved rendering: जयनि सोबाय
Transliteration: jayni sobai
Doctrine: Power in Weakness (background)
Original: θριαμβεύω
Category: Power in Weakness

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 2:14. Roman military-political image with no direct Bodo cultural parallel; low syncretism risk but real comprehension risk requiring cultural-background explanation.

Peddling Gods Word

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि रावखौ बेछा खालामनाय
Transliteration: Isornni raokhou becha khalamnai
Doctrine: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority
Original: καπηλεύω
Category: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 2:17. Warns against commercializing ministry; worth noting alongside caution about any perception that Christian teaching, like some itinerant religious specialists’ services, is offered for a fee.

Jars Of Clay

Approved rendering: मालाव भरनि बर्तन
Transliteration: malao bhorni bortan
Doctrine: Power in Weakness
Original: ὄστράκινα σκεύη
Category: Power in Weakness

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 4:7. Ties directly into Power in Weakness: God’s power is deliberately displayed through fragile human ministers, not despite their fragility.

Eternal Weight Of Glory

Approved rendering: हमेशा थाखोनि महिमानि गुरं
Transliteration: hamesha thakhwni mohimani guru
Doctrine: Power in Weakness
Original: αἰώνιον βάρος δόξης
Category: Power in Weakness

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 4:17. Reinforces baseline’s caution that God’s glory is his own self-existent majesty, never to be confused with the trance-radiance or oracular authority attributed to a doudini.

Tent Earthly House

Approved rendering: खामनि नोगोर
Transliteration: khamni nogor
Doctrine: New Creation in Christ (background)
Original: σκῆνος
Category: New Creation

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:1,4. The physical body as a temporary dwelling; requires clear body-imagery framing so it is not confused with an ancestral-spirit dwelling concept.

Belial

Approved rendering: बिलियाल
Transliteration: Biliyal
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare and Discernment
Original: Βελιάλ
Category: Spiritual Warfare

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 6:15. A Hebrew-derived title for Satan/the devil, a hapax legomenon in the NT. Transliterate and flag with a note identifying it as a synonym for शैतान to avoid the impression of a distinct spirit-being within a populated pantheon.

Unequally Yoked

Approved rendering: अलग जातनि जों जुड़नाय
Transliteration: alag jatni jong jwrnai
Doctrine: Unequal Yoking and Separation from Idolatry
Original: ἑτεροζυγέω
Category: Church

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 6:14. Positive cultural note: Bodo agrarian life’s own ox/buffalo-yoke farming practice gives this image natural resonance; must be taught relationally (partnership, marriage, close alliance with unbelief), not as a blanket prohibition on ordinary social or economic contact.

Separate Unto God

Approved rendering: फोजाब जानाय
Transliteration: phojab janai
Doctrine: Unequal Yoking and Separation from Idolatry
Original: ἀφορίζω
Category: Sanctification

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 6:17. Connects to baseline’s ‘separation unto God’s service’ doctrine; whole-life devotion, not a periodic ritual state.

Generosity

Approved rendering: खोलामनाय गोसो
Transliteration: kholamnai gwsw
Doctrine: Generosity and Grace in Giving
Original: ἁπλότης
Category: Generosity in Giving

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 8:2, 9:11,13. Same Greek lexeme as sincerity (ch. 1); both are expressions of the same undivided heart. Must be taught as fruit of grace, not a meritorious act securing further favor.

Equality

Approved rendering: समानता
Transliteration: samanata
Doctrine: Generosity and Grace in Giving
Original: ἰσότης
Category: Generosity in Giving

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 8:13-14. Should be taught as mutual economic care between churches, not conflated with contemporary ethnic/political equality rhetoric in the Bodoland region.

Godly Jealousy

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि जायगायनि हींसा
Transliteration: Isornni jaygayni hinsa
Doctrine: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority
Original: ζῆλος θεοῦ
Category: Sincerity and Apostolic Authority

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 11:2. A protective, jealous zeal on God’s behalf, distinct from sinful envy.

Paradise

Approved rendering: स्वर्गनि बगान
Transliteration: swargwni bogan
Doctrine: Power in Weakness (background)
Original: παράδεισος
Category: Power in Weakness

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 12:4. God’s dwelling place, used interchangeably with ‘third heaven.‘

Love

Approved rendering: प्रेम
Transliteration: prem
Doctrine: Reconciliation with God / Trinitarian Benediction and Fellowship
Original: ἀγάπη
Category: Reconciliation

[NEW TERM]. Occurs at 5:14 (‘the love of Christ’), 13:11,14 (‘the love of God’).
